One of the best teachers I've had in years. He is not only informative and knowledgeable about the subject, he adds life to what could be extemely boring concepts. His teaching style is very fair and he will go out of his way to help you understand the information. Also uses the internet very effe
if you are a serious learner, he is the teacher for you. he is very smart, friendly, approachable and dedicated. his lectures are disorganized most of the time, and if you have not studied before hand, expect a trip to the twilight zone. if you are up for the challenge, take his class.
When he does what class he is teaching he is okay. He is very unprepared and is horrible about grading.
Awesome teacher!!! Strongly advise you to take it. He explains the material in such great detail...you'll never forget it. Very fair grader and gives many chances (extra credit on exams) to do good in his class. Very dedicated and available to his students!
Still a green teacher, but very passionate about the subject. In a few years when he's broken in he'll be a great teacher. Lecture tests come off as tricky, because he only goes off his notes and he wants very specific answers (even if the question seems vague). He utilizes email/blackboard alot.

Very organized lectures. Tests off the lecture notes. Somewhat green and has some incorrect information, but is willing to listen and doesn't get offended when discrepancies are brought up. Cute too.
What can I say about Professor Moore? + use of computer/Blackboard + use of email - lecture format/hard to follow - outlines are confusing with minimal useful TEST information - tests are EXTREMELY hard Get all the Help you can because you will need it! He is friendly, but would not recomme
very organized, very clear, very helpful and grades fair. I would recommend him to everyone!!!!
Great teacher. Very intelligent and helpful to students. You WILL learn at lot more if you are willing to put the time. A must teacher!
Don't even think about it!
Had him for both. Does not test on what he doesn't lecture on. Easily approachable, but expect to learn, you cannot skate in his class. Provides helpful outlines ahead of lecture.
Great teacher - covers the material very well.

Regardless of the teacher, A&P is a tough course and you need to put a lot of time into it to get a good grade. Prof. Moore is very clear on what he is going to test you on and provides a lot of helpful supplemental material. He treats you as adults and is respectful, approachable and helpful.

Great Teacher but also very tough. He will really prepare you for any future courses that may be challenging. His outlines are very straight forward & his lectures follow the outlines nicely. Lab exams are hard very difficult! He very willing to help you out when you need it. Even though he's tough I am taking him for 431.
Makes learning A&P fun and is very good and fair teacher, but tough. Is very helpful when you need it. If you put the effort he says is required you will do well. Gives a lot of chances with points so if you blow one or two tests you can still do well.
Mr. Moore is not a good teacher. He reads from his notes, he does not explain things well and he tested on things that he did not lecture on. I passed this class by reading the book, not by listening to Moore. His tests were "wordy" and not straight-forward. He was not willing to help me, maybe because I was not one of his "pet" students who he ahh
Justin is not a good teacher. He takes his time lecturing and then at the last minute rushes through what he slacked on. HE is not clear on his tests and very, very unhelpful, unless you are one of his pet students. He is very unorganized and his lecturing shows it. Beware!!!
I really learned a lot! Lab test straight forward, but lecture...so much to know. Get a group to help you through it. It was HARD, but made it through til the end.
yuk!, do not take this teacher! He us horrible unless you are one of his pet in the class. I ended up droping the class because i could not stand the teacher.
I enjoyed Justin for both 430/431, but it wasn’t a breeze! Justin makes this class hard to prepare you for the future. Don’t expect to just slip through- be prepared for hard work and study time! It’s worth it though - I'm a more competitive, well educated student! And, he is very fair and willing to help you when you need it!
Justin is very hard, but he is also very fair. He expects you to work hard and do a lot of out of class studying. However, if you do the My A&P and get into beacon you will do fine. He really prepares you for the test. He doesn't test on stuff that he doesn't lecture on and for the lab tests he tells you exactly what is going to be on the test.
Provides outlines for every unit. Responds very quickly to email. Exams test student's ability to link physiological concepts, and understand cause and effect. Our class mean was ~85%. Relatively low drop rate for this course.
This teacher is on a power trip and I wouldn't recommend his class to anyone that has a job/family/other classes to deal with. I learned more on my own than from his teaching. Half the class dropped and so his pride at having an 85+ mean is only because he forces anyone who can't get an A out. That's not good teaching to me.
This teacher was the worst teacher I've ever had. He is obviously a newer teacher who hasn't established a way of getting across to students. His thoughts weren't clear and it was difficult to learn in his class. If you are serious about learning & PASSING a class in biology take someone else!
very good teacher but boy o boy does he pile on the homework! Lab tests are ALL fill in the blank. If you take him, kiss your social life and family goodbye. You have to be focused and dedicated with a great memory to survive in his class.
If you are going to take this class, please take atleast 8hrs/day week to study...lots of assignments. This class feels like a 10 credit course. I would not recommend this professor!!
This prof is a high maitenence freak. He sent out 5 e-mails before the first day of class about NOTHING that couldnt have been discussed in class. Homework online everyday-ridiculous hours per week outside of class to study. He wants you to buy a clicker for everyday quizzes for 50 bucks. Do not waste your time or money on this class, trust me.
He lectures the entire 4 + hours each night! No labs , all lecture!!! He sends out sooo many emails right before the test that do not apply directly to his tests. Very hard to study for his tests. He had a very low pass rate for fall'06. All but 12 dropped the class!! Do not take this teacher....
Hard, but worth the effort in the long run. The material that is on the test are directly off the oulines. For clarity he gives you extra slides on blackboard. He lecutres 4 hours on most nights, but there is lab time right before an exam, however many went home during this time. Yeah its hard, but when you are a nurse, doctor, you should know it.
I made it through biol 430 with justin with ann ended up with an A.....but man did I have to work for it. Ended up sticking with him through 431 as well.He is a very difficult teacher and expects you to work hard in his class. So if you want a challenge, then justin is your man....plus hes pretty easy on the eyes!
One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He uses a lot of multimedia, which is very helpful. Go to class, make friends to study with and do the assignments. Flash cards help. Read the outlines. This class is vital for people going into health care, so take it with a good professor who will prepare you for when you are expected to know.
He lectures about 85% of the time which is boring, but he is good at explaining what we need to know. Gives us homework & quizzes every day to keep us on track. Very approachable, patient, nice guy. Tests are all off his lecture notes, I've hardly cracked the book. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. I would take him again.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER. THE LECTURE AND LAB ARE TOGETHER AND HE WILL LECTURE MOST OF THE LECTURE AND LAB TIME. HE IS VERY FAIR. YOUR TESTS WILL INCLUDE MULTIPLE CHOICE, T/F, FILL IN AND SHORT ANSWER ESSAY. A LOT OF HOMEWORK, YOU REALLY NEED TO DO ALL THE HOMEWORK TO GET AN A OR B. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT IN HIS CLASS. STAY FOCUSED AND DONT GET BEHIND.
justin is a dedicated professor who is passionate about teaching. he actually cares about you and your education. available for after class, office hours and email tutoring. grading scales is very fair. ec available. bit of homework, but aids in ur understanding of a subject. TAKE HIM!!
justin will keep you on your feet. Be prepared to take justin head-on. If you are working, then it is time to make a decision because of the tough road. Tough, but helpfull. You will LEARN.
Justin is a hardworking professor giving ample resources for learning A&P. He has high expectations. Just be ready to work. Attitude is everything! The "instant reward video game" work ethic won't cut it in this class. Like others have said, do all homework, attend all classes, and get a good study partner.
The BEST Biology teacher at ARC. His class is hard - but he gives you TUNS of chances for extra credit. He is willing to help you if you need help & is very understanding. He tries to make the class interesting & fun. Do Your homework & study his Lecture notes - You'll do great.
It's hard to find a good teacher like him.
Prof. Moore is a good teacher. As others have said, make sure you do all the homework...easy points. The test are about the trickiest you'll ever take...but that's made up for by all the extra credit. The lab exams are pretty easy if you've studied. All in all, a good professor. He's fair and interested in your learning the material.
GREAT TEACHER!!!explains his lectures a LOT-so you get it. I took him over the summer and even though bio classes are not easy, it seemed like his class was easier than my other ones.He is very clear on what you need to know for lecture&lab exams, and gives extra credit.Homework easy- he provides the worksheets(hint).HIGHLY RECCOMEND! THANKS JUSTIN
Best teacher I ever had both in 430 and 431! Both subjects are hard but you'll do fine if you study and do all his homeworks! I hate science but I got an A!
I took A&P 430/431 with other professor and I cannot rate this professor.FYI, if you are going to enter to the nursing program, try to take A&P with the hard professor.Do not search for the easy teacher. If you take A&P with the easy teacher, you will shock when you enter to the nursing program.Because NURSING courses are tough.Did I say TOUGH?Yes,I
Justin Moore is great, I took 430 & 431 with him. He wants you to be successful in your pursuit. His tests were difficult, but it prepares you for your journey, and he gives plenty of oppurtunity to succeed with homework and extra credit.
Great Professor!! Very nice, extremely helpful. He excpects a lot from you. I took him for 430 and 431, I got a B in both. A lot of homework. You will need a lot of study time for this class. Takes questions for tests right off the lecture material that you are given. Lecture and Lab time are combined. More lecture time than lab time. Good Luck!!
cool class
Just finished 430 & 431 with Justin and I have no complaints. He's an extremely dedicated professor who bends over backwards to accommodate his students' needs. He's smart, funny, and a natural teacher. I learned so much in his class, and would only recommend him if you're willing to put in the time and effort it'll take to succeed.
work hard. gives extra credit! just.... work hard
I took him just this past summer 08. Very intense class but got an A. He will give you everything you need to know about that class and is very good in explaining the materials. He posts outlines, slide lectures, and everything else on blackboard which helped me study. He's awesome. Thanks Prof. Moore!
Worst teacher I've ever had. He lectures the entire time w/ no lab at all, sends out way to many e-mails that are pointless, and what he lectures about is never on the test. Its like he's trying to trick you by picking the most obscure and random things to test on. Do not take this guy.
I took Moore for Bio 431 (Su?08). Challenging class - requires study. Heavy Lec/Light Lab time. When important, get you?ll lab time. Lec is very clear ? lots of examples to help you relate the material. Lec/Lab exams are from notes (provided to you). He?s very clear with what he wants you to know and is always available to help. Prof Moore gives yo
Professor Moore is very nice, accommodating and understanding. Does this make a good professor? I'm not sure. The lecture is very long and the chairs are uncomfortable (ARC). I suggest bringing study material to lecture. There is a lot to cover. Lab time as needed for the harder subjects. The cadaver is the best way to learn! Biofeedback also cool!
I did not like him at all. His lectures are boring and his tests very hard. He's going to overflow you with pointless e-mails(sometimes 10 a day.)If you're taking an evening class, he's gonna keep you there till 10:05 p.m. SHARP, and not a minute less. He doesn't really tell you what you're supposed to do in the lab,so you're on your own.AVOID!!!
He's only willing to help and hang around certain students and ignores everyone else. Takes weeks to grade exams. Overall, Not a very good professor to take A&P with because if your not his pet student, your on your own. So Good luck if your planning on taking him!!
Great teacher. It's obvious that the knowledge you gain from this class is important to him. He is very clear about what you need to know & grades fairly. Returns emails quickly, willing to help anyone who asks & generally has tests/HW graded/handed back w/in a week. This is just a hard subject, but he does a great job making it understandable.
Prof Moore is very helpful and accomodating. He explains everything that you need 2 know. The subject is hard by itself. He has outlines for the chapters and uses slides to make it a little easier. Only thing I dont like is that sometimes you need to stay till 10pm just to get 2 pts for the lab. i will love to take bio 431 wit him but its close
Prof Moore will definately equip you for an Allied Health Career. You will feel worked, tired, but in the end, you will feel accomplished. He is very fair- is approachable if you need help and gives ample opportunity to do well, but expects YOU to take the steps to earn your grade fairly. Nothing is given freely and easy is not always better.
A brutally tough class, but his obvious expertise and genuine interest made it possible to push myself hard enough to earn a solid A. Has a well-earned reputation as a tough instructor, but one who wants his students to ACTUALLY LEARN. I feel well-prepared to take the 2nd half of A&P and continue into the Nursing program. Take him if you dare!
I haven't taken a course in my college history where I have learned more..and I have a degree. Mr. Moore's class is unbelievable and you will learn a lot. He's not easy by any measure, so be ready to study a lot...I mean a lot. You will be better for it and you will learn so much about....you! Take him fr a great challenge and great education!
Justin's probably a little more challenging than other A&P professors, but is a great transition to the rigors of a nursing program. If you can't cut it in his courses stay away from a BSN program.
This is a very intense class with long lectures. However, he provides outlines so you can actually pay attention rather than having to take notes the entire time. His exams are solely on his outlines, which makes studying much easier. I'm getting an A so far, but it requires a lot of dedication. Plus, he's SUPER HOT! It's distracting at times!
Excellent teacher, very polite and extremely hard. He makes this class more complicated.
He is so smart but also very clear, he explains things over and over in different way to make sure we all get it before moving on. And he is easy on the eyes, I loved staring at him 10 hours a week. You will learn and be prepared for all other nursing classes that come your way.
his class is very challenging..he has h/w,physio ex and assignment due evry week and yea be ready for dialy quiz,,,he really makes u learn physiology...test are hard...if u do gud in labz dan u will be fine...n if u lazy student dan dnt take him coz u gotta study ur ass off for his test....i got A but i had to study soo much...basically hav no life
i saw reviews on this site and wa prepared for the worst but actualy the class is soooo easy cuz he lets u take home final and he drops one test and hw assignments are far and few and easy to do and u can study for tests night before and get A specially teh lab tests why so many poeple whine and complain idk guess they hate even lil bit work.
I was so lucky to have Professor Mo-Mo for both my AP430 and 431. He is such an amazing teacher. I am currently in my second semester of nursing school, due to his high standards in A&P I have a 4.0 in my nursing classes. He is a very structured instructor and knows his physiology inside and out. Highly recommend him!!!!
Professor Moore, Was wonderful very clear if you need help understanding a concept he will take time to explain it for you. I got an A but had to work for it didn't miss one class or assignment and really helps! Long as you have the time and put forth effort to study his lecture notes and labs you can get at least an B. Overall a great professor!
Very clear in his lectures! has a very clear study guide with everything you need to know for the exam! His exams are very tough and you have to work very hard at them, but he works with you and wants his students to succeed!
Very difficult professor. Expects a lot, grades hard, difficult exams, not lenient at all. In order to pass this class, you will need to study every minute of your life! But, he's pretty nice for the most part.
This is a hard class regardless and expect to study. Professor Moore is a great teacher and his notes are awesome. If you study hard then you will pass. I was blessed to have him but I studied and thats what will help. If your lazy and dont want to study dont even bother.
While he was a very nice professor, his class is extremely hard. This class must be your life. You must study really, really hard if you want an A. The only bad thing I would say is that his lectures can be boring. He has a very monotone voice and you can have a hard time staying awake during his sometimes 4 hour lectures. I did learn a lot though.
Lots of homework! Most of it it's not even on the test, expects u to study the anatomy on your own time. Good notes but useless for the test because he rewords everything with tricky questions. Would not recommend.
took professor moore 430 and 431. you must be able to understand the physiology part in order to pass the lecture exam(which includes written sections). anatomy you learn on your own but you can ask him to quiz you on models and its very helpful. must be dedicated to this class. lots of homework but its all easy. something due every class.
Took Moore for both 430&431, yes this class is hard & he doesn't mess around, but it's supposed to be! He knows his stuff and will help if u ask. Daily quiz&prelabs, wkly HW & PhysioEx labs.Don't miss a class the points +up & u will fall behind! Lec exams based off stdy guide. Lab exams are Anat & PhysioEx labs. Go to open lab & use all resources.
I took Professor Moores class for bio 430 and 431. He is a highly organized Professor and is fair with his exams. He goes strictly off the study guides so If you study those you will do well on the exam. Labs are mostly models, lab slides and physioEX. I highly recommend him. I don't think I would have done so well in any other class.
He really knows the material and wants his students to succeed. Not an easy A, but expectations are very clear, so an A is possible for anyone willing to put in the time.
Professor Moore is an awesome teacher who is willing to help his students succeed. This is a hard class no matter who's teaching it. I was fortunate to take both semesters with him and did well. Follow his study guides and you will have no problems good luck.
Professor Moore is great! Very thorough w/ the way he teachers material. I was fortunate to have him for both BIO431 & 431. If you want to be prepared for a medical career he's definitely one to prepare you for it. This class is not at all easy.. But that's regardless of the instructor. Prepare for at least 20 hrs/wk of studying. But it'll pay off!
Prof Moore is a great teacher!! Handouts are provided but I suggest to print them colored if you can afford to it helps though; plus you have a place for additional notes. If possible read ahead of time for upcoming lectures it helps. Exam material is what is on the hand outs (lec /lab). Prof Moore?s hand outs may be confusing at times and may not
Professor Moore is a great teacher. He's very in depth with his teachings and really likes the subjects. There is a ton you have to learn in this class and he focuses on physiology more than anatomy. If you're looking for an easy class, don't choose this teacher. If you're looking to actually learn something for your career, take his class!
Here is everything you need to know about Moore's class in 350 characters (or less). Come to class. Study using HIS notes, that is what will be on his exams. Study for the daily quizzes. Study for the labs. Just..Study!! The class is hard, but Moore makes it VERY easy to do well with his availability, clarity & class structure.
Professor Moore is a great professor who can stay on the subject for at least 3-4 hours. He states everything you need to know for the Exams.Lab examas are fill-in,cicker multiple-choice questions. You must study for this class at least 20 hours a week, or don't take him.Very interested in helping studnets.Offers EC (25 points + plus daily Quizzes).
I had Moore for both 430/431. Important Notes: 1. Study HIS notes. Refer to the textbook if you still have questions. 2. He lectures almost the entire class (4 hours). If you can't stay focused, this isn't the class for you. He LOVES detail and his tests are HARD, but his grading makes up for it. (Lots of EC opportunities). Be prepared to work!!!
Had him for Bio 430/1. No hyperbole, Moore is the best professor I've ever had. The best thing about him is that his instruction is CRYSTAL clear, and he's an extremely intelligent and personable guy. Good sense of humor as well. Not easy, exams are quite challenging, but he grades on a curve and even offers a bit of EC. VERY organized; fair, too.
Professor Moore is an amazing instructor! He provides all the tools necessary for the class. He is very helpful and easy to approach. He is tough but that's to be expected with the course and the amount of material that is covered. You need to study and stay on top of the material in order to receive a good grade.
This Professor is very confusing. No lab at all, only non-stop lecture all 5 hours. Very monotonous. Never tells what is on exam, exams are impossible to get an A on. Expects correct spelling for anatomy, and expects you to know every nook and cranny of anatomy. Good luck
Very difficult Professor. Lectures monotonously all class time, no lab. Exams are very confusing, if you don't understand a small detail in the question, you will get the whole answer wrong. Lots of essay questions on exams.
Professor Moore is the best teacher for this class. His study guides are clear and include exactly what is on the test. He drops the 4 lowest quiz scores, 3 pre labs, 3 participation points, 4 mastering a&p, and 1 test. Getting an A in this class is possible if you work for it. He offers 40 points of extra credit as well.
He is a very hard teacher. You have to know every detail to get A . Study & study everyday .
He knows his stuff, and expects you to know just as much in order to get an A. You practically have to be able to recite the textbook word for word in order to have a CHANCE of getting an A in class. His lectures are 5 hours long and he talks in riddles. It's hard to pay attention unless you already understand the material. But he's nice guy.
This teacher expects you to know every single detail. Once you think you've studdied enough, geuss again-Tests are brutal (4hr), lots of essay questions and need to know every fact because questions have about 3 differant parts to them and if you're not sure about one part, its wrong.Nice guy, but expects alot and talks the whole 4+hrs, no lab~
After taking Biol 430/431, I can honestly say that he is a great professor. Yes,he expects you to know a lot, but if you put the time into this class you can get the grade you want. He lectures for 4 hours there is rarely lab time. He does his own study guides, Saturday study sessions before the test and emails test prep.
Took Moore for both 430 and 431. He is a great professor. People saying that an A is not possible are wrong. If you put in the time to study and ask questions you can get an A. If you are unclear on a test question he will help you out, just ask. He is lenient on spelling, you just have to spell words like they sound. I would take Moore again.
Amazing teacher!! Best teacher I have ever had!! He expects you to know a lot but he is always willing to help and wants you to do well. If you study and can do well on Lecture exams or lab exams you will do fine!!
He is a good prof, but goes very far with the detail with the material and expects you to know EVEYTHING. I would say study everyday and at least 20 hours a week and you still may not get an A. I got a B in 430 and had to drop 431. I'm taking 431 with another prof and I have to say Moore is a much more demanding prof. No lab and very hard tests.
I failed some tests, but got A's on others. Worked hard. The massive homework got me through. Got a B in 430 and then an A just at the end of 431! I worked hard for that A. I am proof that it is possible. There were many times I worried, but did better after each bad score. All these reviews are accurate, but good outweighs bad. Moore is awesome!
He is an awesome instructor. I took both BIOL 430 and BIOL 431. These classes are very hard and need a lot of your time. He always has time for you if you have any questions. It's not gonna be easy, but if you willing to put your time, you can make it. He is the best, positive instructor.
J. Moore is fair overall. Gave study guides. Slides labeled "LAB" will be on the lab exam. Will come on saturday for study session. Grades based lec + lab exams, pre-labs, mastering A&P online, daily quizzes, PhysioEx, attendance. Allow drops. No "actual" lab session but long lecture! Very details from different angles. Extra credit = SCC.
Justin is a great professor! It is a hard topic but he makes it as easy as possible. He offers extra credit, curves exams, and repeats important info many times. I got a D in 431 w/ a different prof. but an A with justin!
Prof. Moore is very helpful if you need clarification. He uses study guides instead of the textbook, but recommends using the text as reference. He post picture of his slides online, and is clear of what is expected. Do the SSC for extra credit, come to class prepared, and show up for points.
Justin is an awesome professor who really cares a lot about his students. People who complain that he is too difficult haven't put in the amount of time and effort required. There were many times over the past year where Professor Moore would come in on his days off to spend HOURS going over test material with us. Plus, he is CRAZY attractive. <3<3
He goes above and beyond to help his students.. Really! I find it amazing how much effort he put to help us succeed in the class. However, he makes the class extremely hard! and by that i don't mean he's not clear. He is very clear as far as what will be on the exam. But his expectations are ridiculously high! He expects you to be his level!
Professor Moore is one of the sweetest caring professor i've had, but STAY AWAY FROM HIM! He expects you to know every detail of the most detailed stuff. He believes the book is too simplified and would want you to learn his way! I mean the book is TOO SIMPLIFIED? REALLY?!! He needs to understand that we are only students and this is just pre-req
Justin Moore Billy Zane The hardest class I've ever had. So far I have an A but it would require a lot of work from your part to make it to the end. You have the choice to drop one of the 13 tests. He makes all material available to you, he wants everyone to succed. Very organized, extremely knowlegable. Enroll for SSC for 30 extra credit points
Very hard teacher, I was lost and confused all this time, he doesn't explain well and if he tries then you could tell on his face acts like "why don't you get it" ! His tests are hard which is 11 lecture, lab exams and final. He basically wants you to memorize all 3 chapters study guide which is each 8 or more pages only for lecture each exam
Everything on his study guides he hands out will be on the lecture exam, however you must know every tiny detail and must word everything as he does or else you get docked points. He lectures the entire 5hrs majority of the time with a 30min break. When you ask for additional help he repeats exactly what is written on his study guide.
If you are going into a medical profession, A&P is a must: so is Justin. This material is very challenging as it pertains to the human body. Justin makes it as simple as possible. He personally ensures that when you leave his class, you will be prepared for the next step toward your future career. Besides, Justin is a really cool guy to talk to.
Prof. Moore is a great professor! He truly cares that you succeed and he is always there to help you with any clarification. ALWAYS go to the review sessions before a test! They are SO helpful and he asks potential test questions! Study lecture slides for the lab exams. This class IS hard and you are required to know a lot of information! STUDY!!!!
Simply the best prof for A&P subject, and I was very fortunate to have him. English is my second language so you can imagine what I had to go thorough with this class, but prof Moore was always there to answer all my questions either via emailduring exams! He's also very patient, since I'm a slow test taker he would give me extra time if needed it.
Very tough course. Requires serious studying. He comes to school on his days off to do a class review before exams, HWs & quizzes help because it keeps info fresh, gives out EC pts, he sticks to his study guide, quickly responds to emails. Very approachable & helpful!! I didn't mind the long lectures because he's totally an eyecandy. Super hot! lol
Prof. Moore is a great Professor! I took BIO 430 and 431. He is very knowledgeable and organized. His exams are hard but strictly from his SG. He gives EC, points for attendance and for LAB HW. Short quizzes every class, not too hard. He comes on the weekends to go over the material before the exams. It's possible to get a good grade.
Everything on his study guide is on the test ( I never open my book,) he drops 3-4 quizzes, 4 homework assignments, 2 physio X, 2 participation, replaces your lowest exam score with your average and 30 point EC. Hard subject but he makes it a little easier. Down side long lectures but I would take him for every science class if I could.
Yes this class is hard but we are all taking it for a reason, whether it be for nursing, PA school, etc. This class is the foundation of our schooling to come. I would hope it would be difficult as Moore is training the future of healthcare. If the effort is put in then the grades will reflect that. Just rise to the challenge & you'll do just fine.
I LOVE this guy! Took 430431 from him. He is passionate & truly loves what he does. OCD as hell & you will receive tons of emails about grades postedtest scores. Comes in on his weekends off to do exam reviews (bring homemade treats for him). Lectures are LONG, exams are HARD, but bc of study guides, you know exactly what will be on exam.
You're taking this class cause you have to but at least you can choose your professor and hands down you want this guy. You bet he's gonna use all 4.5 hours of class time and you'll be cursing in your head every day but you gotta do it and you will thank him and kiss his toes when you make it out and you will make it out stronger. Trust.
Is he helpful, caring, passionate, and clear? yes to all, if that's what you're looking for. His expectations are sky high, and want students to know every detail. He makes class extremely hard. Trust me, i'm a bio major and I've taken enough bio classes to know not to recommend him to anyone. I never had to complain about any of my other professors
Taking his classes will get you prepared for nursing school or whatever program you are striving for in healthcare. You want an A? Be prepared to study at least 20 hours a week. He is very nice and caring but you have to put in work to get the grade you want. Gives weekend study sessions and his exams are based off his very detailed study guide.
Take him and you wont regret! All of his exams are based off his study guides with that said it doesnt mean that it will an easy class. It will be hard but he is very helpful and just a chill guy!!!
Professor Moore is the best professor i have ever met in ARC. He is always willing to help his students. As an anatomy and physiology class, there is no such thing as easy class, but with professor more assignments and quizzes and lectures he prepares you for the exams in advance. Of course You have to understand the material to do well in class!!
Professor Moore gives you ALL the resources you need to be able to get an A in the class. You, in turn, have to put the time and effort in. He has pictures/keys of models on d2L for studying for the lab exams. He sends out test prep emails on what is going to be on the written portion of the exam. He gives a lot of homework & exams are 2 hrs each.
Honestly the best professor I ever had. He goes out of his way to help you but you will have to meet him halfway. He is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff so don't be scared to ask for help, or even go to his office hours. Bio 430 and 431 are tough courses but with Professor Moore getting an A is more than possible.(30 points Exrea credit SCC)
Excellent teacher. Class is mostly lecture and be prepared to stay for the allotted time. The class is hard just because of the material being covered, but if you study and read and study some more you can pass the class. He is very helpful and wants his students to succeed, but you have to put in the effort.
Best professor I have ever had. Very difficult tests as there is so much material but if you actually put time in to read the book, look over the study guides, and utilize his questions format study guide, you'll do great. Far from an easy A.
Anatomy and Physiology is the toughest class that I've ever taken. Be prepared to put in time for studying and lots of reading. Participation, attendance, quizzes and homework are a major part of your grade, so be prepared to stay the entire class. Prof Moore keeps you entertained during lecture which this class is mostly lecture.
Do the extra credit (SSC) he talks abt in the beginning of the sem. I avged Cs on all my lec exams (A&Bs on labs)&passed the class w/an A bc of the EC. If not, u can get a B&still have a life but if u want an A u have to put in ALOT of time. Study everyday; preread&cover @home what u did in lecture, OPENLAB!! Never lost so much sleep over 1 class.
PM is the best Professor I have had a ARC. His class is intense but you walk out having so much knowledge. If you are going into the medical field he is your Professor. He came in on the weekends to help us study for lab exams. He truly wants you to do well. Don't take too many other classes PM will keep you busy! He is passionate with A&P!
Take him if you want to know your A and P.
Professor Moore is a good teacher. BUT not a fair grader. even if you studied 40 +hours for a test and you KNOW the processes by heart, on the lecture exams he will mark you off for minor mistakes. I took him for both 430 and 431. i would say take him for 430 but don't take him for 431. Be prepared to not have a life for 3 months, study 24/7
Good teacher, but his lecture exams are Brutal. Almost impossible to get As or high Bs on lecture exams (without the curves). I studied all spring break for one exam, and I only got a High B after the curve. His T/F questions are meant to be tricky. He does offer a lot of EC which is helpful but if you don't ace the lab exams, you won't get an A.
I've nevere met a teacher that is SO caring and willing to help you get an A, he wants you to do well. He'll meet with you with office hours and gives A LOT of EC. Yes this class is hard but it's just the material, tests are hard but if you ace the lab exams and do EC, Or do well on at least 4 exams Ull get an A(Relaces lowest test) TAKE MOORE :)
Best teacher I've had in my 5 years in college. He WANTS you to get an A and also to KNOW and learn material. He curves Tests and your grade (89.5%) is an A. He gives over 80+ points EC. He replaces lowest test with top 4 average. This man is truly amazing and I respect him so much. Took him for 430 & 431 with 16 units & got As both semesters! :)
I can't express how caring this man is and how kind he is. He really wants his students to succeed, to get an A, to learn the material and gain the knowledge. He offers office hours and tons of extra credit. Best professor out of all A&P professors at ARC. He curves your grade, it's totally realistic to get an A and learn so much in his class!
Let me just say that I took 18 units with this class and got an A! Professor Moore is so great! You will learn so much for him and he will do everything to help you succeed.
If you have only free time and can devote every waking minute to his class the yes take his class. He more or less reads the study guide to you but that does not guarantee what info will be on the tests. It is a toss up with the tests. He is very nice and will help but it is extremely frustrating. I suggest taking only one class if you take him.
This guy is not a fair grader. He seems caring and passionate about the subject, but he makes the class harder than it should be. Lots of heavy homework. If youre a Nursing major and care about your G.P.A, I would not recommend him.
Best A&P prof based on hearing what other students had to say about their professors! Gives study guides, tips on test taking, and all the resources he can. Daily quizes, lec+lab exams, he drops one exam and something from each category, offers extra credit. Be careful taking a morning class-be awake and alert. Pre-read. study a lot outside class.
To the raters that said this class is too hard: newsflash: every A&P is hard because its a lot of concepts of physiology that you need to study and understand. So if you're someone who loves social life/has work, this is not for you-this class needs about 3-4 hours EVERY DAY outside class time. You need to be dedicated. And he grades very fair.
A&P is a hard class, so do your research before you sign up for any professor. He's nice and he responds to questions quickly, but I wouldn't recommend him for 431. He doesn't explain things clearly and lots of homework. Good luck.
Professor Moore is the nicest, most organized professor Ive ever had. Hes very knowledgeable about the subject, he lectures off his study guide, which he provides all the answers to exams with. Yes, theres a lot of hw, but only for us to understand the material and also is way to generous with extra credit, which is over 80+ points.
Prof. Moore is an awesome teacher! He's extremely patient & willing to explain things until you understand. Anyone can get an A by studying hard & actually understanding the concepts on the study guide. Lecture exams(physiology) are harder than lab exams (anatomy). LOTS of info in ea. lecture so record them, use office hours, pre-read for lecture.
One of THE most amazing prof's I've taken! This course's material is harder than 431 so def more studying involved. He puts in so much effort; if a student puts just as much in, guarantee passing with an EASY A. A&P requires effort and dedication. He offers EC, help outside of class, responds to emails, replaces lowest exam grade w avg of highest 4
Took him 2 semesters did't regret it. Yes this course is hard because phys is no joke. Be prep'd to dedicate most of your time studying for this class. He offers EC35 pt, office hours, replaces/drops lowest scores, lc and lb exams are diff days, responds to emails, cares for your success. quiz every day, try not to take a 4/5 unit course alongside
what strikes me the most about this professor is that he will take his time to help you identify what is/is not working for you in your studying and what you are doing that prevents you from getting an A. In other words, sometimes studying 40 hrs a week is a waste of time if you're doing it wrong. yes there is a right way to study successfully!!
He is a nice professor and helps a lot in his office hours. But he didn't treat students the same. He is really hard and you have to put a lot of time and effort into his class to get an A. This class is different from any other class so do your research and make sure you have time for the class
Professor Moore is a saint. He is literally my hero-if it wasn't for him I would not be applying to nursing school. His class is difficult BUT he is a FANTASTIC teacher, he offers TONS of EC, he drops a test and so many quizzes, he curves your final grade and tests. He makes it POSSIBLE to get an A. I love your professor Moore!!
Amazing professor! Really cares about his students passing. This is a touch subject so you HAVE to study 20+hrs each week. He offers extra credit and does curve exams if needed. Offers help. Quick paced class so attendance is mandatory. Easy homework. Tests are hard therefore study, study, study! Gives study guides! Id recommend this professor!
To do well in this class you have to know the material very well. Professor Moore does not make this class easy because he wants you to learn! not an easy A so take him if you actually care about learning
Professor Moore is an amazing teacher. I took him for BIO430 & BIO431 and loved it. I cant say it was easy, but A&P is not easy in general. There is a LOT of information and TONS of studying, but professor Moore drills that information into his students. He explains everything very well and he makes it fun. Take him if you want to learn.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! his class is extremely hard but he does everything he can to help you including finding tutors, flexible office hours, extra credit on every exam and he curves the class average to 70% which helps a ton. Hes the most organized professor ive had. Provides a study guide which is exactly whats one the exam. Id take his class again
Prof. Moore is one of the best professors at ARC. You learn a lot of things in his class. He is very organized. The class is so hard unless you put a lot of effort everyday. I have a very high science score in TEAS test because of his support. No minute is spent in his class. The class has quizzes everyday, assignments, exams. Thank you prof!
Get ready to learn on your own or Youtube. He is extremely disorganized I could not follow his style. His labs are hard and you don't even need to know all the stuff for your TEAS or nursing.I already work in the field. He complicates every topic so I had to learn everything from the textbook and youtube. If you have a life you care about donttake
. His exam are over detail like this is just an entry level human anatomy and physiology class. Like someone said, the stuff he teaches aren't the things we have to know for the TEAS or the job. We just need to understand what is going on. I was overwhelmed taking his class. Going to choose a different professor that has a different teaching style
Extremely difficult to pass, he doesn't explain the subject well. Its like he's speaking a different language! He has tests one after another and no time with models to study at all. He's pretty monotone/not engaging/ encourage students in lecture don't take him in the morning he'll put you to sleep.
Horrible professor. Constantly changes terminology while lecturing so is difficult to follow. Does not allow for questions to be asked if he thinks it is not related. No direction on lab. The exams seem like he is constantly trying to trick you. In order to do well on the exam, you have to use his EXACT terminology, or else you are docked.
Corona virus hit us and Justin decides to triple the amount of videos we need to watch for the exam. 2019 videos, which were recorded with lots of audio and video issues, along with office hours and "supplemental" required videos. This along with making exams much more difficult, on purpose because he took out the small answer portion. Stay away!!!
He is lectures are constantly contradicting his study guide so which one would you have to follow? Whatever his heart desires. The professor doesn't fix mistakes on the study guide. He uses online lectures from 2019 that are horribly recorded and he adds office hour lectures to "supplement." This ends up doubling our required hours of lecture. POS
Horrible lecturer. Fails to teach students key points. Prefers to dump useless knowledge in the form of time wasting rants. Takes great pride in creating ambiguous questions no one can answer correctly. Many facts we need to know are not even on the study guide. But he claims everything is on the study guide. Obviously a lie. Avoid at all costs!!!!
When COVID first started, the 2019 videos were supplemental and 2020 videos were required. Now, he ends up requiring the 2019 video, 2020 videos, and office hour videos. This is triple the class time compared to originally required. He assumes more information is better. Not considering what is the right information to present. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Expect Moore to not care about you as a student. He thinks adding more videos to watch, on top of all of the videos we already have to watch, will help us learn the content. LOL. He will help ensure you an early grave. PANDEMIC? WHO CARES! MORE WORK! Spring break? That's time to study! Not to figure out how to live post COVID. This guy is something
Justin seems to enjoy confusing students. Much easier learning the concepts from youtube. Constantly refers to his study guide. But his study guide is often incomplete, and riddled with acronyms he does not define. I repeat, take this class only if you like being confused. Justin takes a topic, and tries to describe it as confusing as possible.
He is so hard on his lecture exams and especially when theres a written section part. His study guides and lecture slides are quite helpful for studying the physiology. And If youre going to take his class for next semester like Bio 430 or Bio 431, just put in more time and study hard.
I had him for both 430/431 ONLY BECAUSE I couldn't get into another 431 class. The assignments aren't super clear and are definitely not worth the points he applies to them. The tests are designed to make you extremely confused, extremely. He loves when people don't understand so look to youtube to understand things. Also didnt handle COVID-19 well
It's already an extremely difficult class, but during a whole entire PANDEMIC he DOUBLED our work load and expected us to teach ourselves pretty much. Really nice guy, but horrible Professor. If you have an option to take another, please do. Lectures are unclear, he expects you to learn from YouTube and answers questions snarky.
I think most of the people leaving these reviews expected an easy A class. This class is not easy and shouldn' be. Professor Moore tried his hardest to adjust this class fully online. Yes, we had to watch extra videos but this teacher goes out of is way to meet with you in his free time to clarify questions, go over models, and lecture reviews.
Where to begin?! Daily quizzes. Intense lectures. Tons of homework. High standards. Really hard grader. Very difficult exams. I passed both of A&P classes with an A. Hard work at the beginning pays off at the end. He holds open office hours for help and offers extra credit. Allows one exam drop which is helpful. You will lose sleep and freetime!
This class was great fall2019 everything worked out I got an A his tests are hard but I was able to do them without much difficulty one thing is when picking out this class it says you have lab time daily you dont 3 hours of lecture daily with maybe 1 hour here and there open lab is your best friend. And during covid he made 5-6 hours of lecture
This class is tough to say the least, but Prof. Moore was super helpful. Very organized and lets you know what to study. It's ALOT of studying but we always knew what will be on the test. During office hours he explains and answers questions, lets you drop your lowest test score, and offers extra credit. Provides helpful study guides. Thanks Prof!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He is extremely unorganized (writing exams the night be for exam are given) gives you insane amounts of useless homework assignments. Lectures leave you more confused. Unclear. Kind of arrogant. Used youtube and other professors lectures to get the material and spams your email, sends 10-15 emails weekly. DO NOT TAKE.
don't take him. hella tests, confusing questions on the test. daily quizzes. the questions don't match the study guide at all. super unorganized, arrogant and like to toy with students. if you don't wanna waste your times and actually learn something valuable then don't take him
Justin is a great guy, and I actually feel bad for leaving him this review, but it has to be said. This class was by far the WORST thing I have ever encountered. The homework is easy and is for completion, so I loved that; however, the daily quizzes and 11 exams are insane and way too difficult. They make 0 sense just like the useless study guides.
This class is tough like any A&P course will be. However, Professor Moore gives you every opportunity to get a good grade in the class. He assigns a ton of work, which I actually prefer because I cant procrastinate and try to learn everything in one night. He also provides detailed study guides, exam review sessions, and extra credit.
A&P was a hard subject itself I get that. I just think that his teaching style is not it, he always go segways that is not related to the chapter being learned sometimes It does not help me at all. He has this tricky questions always in exams and daily quizzes that basically strips every fiber of my being everyday.
Only one week into class and he is horrible. Has 9.5 hours of lec (recorded) in first 2 weeks plus 10 hours of lab time (live) in these 2 weeks he gets. This is unrealistic, just because we are online does not mean he can double the work. The assignments are super long, everything takes so much time that you won't have any time to do the study.
Worst of the worst
Study 24/7 and youll be fine. Professor is nice but the class is dense and hard.
Gives 10 hours of lecture for every 2 weeks and then uses lab time to lecture instead of doing wet labs, is argumentative with students, and has unreasonable expectations. Other professors have said he goes way too far in depth and expects too much of his students. Do not take his class if you have a job, kids, other classes, or any sort of life.
Do not recommend at alllll! Awful!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. His lectures are all over the place. Never course focused. Everything to him is detailed and important because he knows it by heart and expects you to know it as well as if he is not the professor paid to teach you. Exams are designed to trick you. He is all over the place and expects you to follow along.
Literally told us that he was exposed to someone who tested positive for covid, refused to cancel class, and then gave people who chose not to attend a zero for participation. He does not care about his students whatsoever. Terrible human being on top of the ridiculous expectations he has as a teacher. Avoid him at all costs.
I had Prof Moore for BIOL 430 and 431. His course(s) are quiz heavy (15-20 question quiz every class) and his lecture exams are extremely difficult, but overall, I feel like I grew tremendously as a student. I feel prepared for just about anything after succeeding with his courses! I really appreciate him for that.
I had Moore for all of A&P and finished top 3 both semesters, out of both of his two classes. I was pregnant and have a toddler, so dedication was needed. These courses are meant to challenge you, but Professor Moore goes out of his way (weekend reviews!) to make sure you are understanding the connections. It's a part-time job. Are you up for it?
Lectures are unbelievably long (5-10 hours for ~2 weeks) and messy because he poorly explains the material and always goes off track. Say goodbye to any free time that you had. There were some students who managed to keep up, but I have no idea how they did that. Kudos to them and whoever passes him in the future.
DON'T take him if you want any life outside his class. I got an A but had to sacrifice literally everything else in my life going as far as requesting less shifts at work that I needed bc I'm trying to go to med school and needed the class. Absolutely no regard or consideration for his student's personal or even other academic lives besides A&P.
REALLY nice guy, very approachable but has really high expectations. His exams are extremely difficult, so you need to know the information really well to do good on them. Goes super in depth w/ material, and loves detail. I would only take him if you're serious about A&P, and I suggest taking his class only.
Moore never fails to amaze by taking a simple concept and flipping and making it way more confusing than it needs to be. He talks as if you already have a phd in this subject. Lectures are all over the place, with tangents and useless information that is not relevant to the study guide. He says refer to the study guide but rarely does that himself.
Brilliant professor, incredibly Intelligent, and you can tell he enjoys teaching, and biology in general. He will make certain that you have all of the resources necessary to succeed in his class. He is compassionate and kind. Outstanding explanations. You will be amazed by his degree of knowledge. If lucky, I'll take Professor Moore again!
Best professor I have had. His style prepared me for vigorous university system and I will continue using this style of studying in grad school. Prof Moore absolutely cares to prepare students for the future. The material sticks in your mind. I took A&P again at UC Davis and it was a piece of cake because of how much I learned from Prof Moore class
just a blah profressor
Professor is incredibly intelligent and makes this difficult material interesting! He is caring and assures that you have all the resources that you need to succeed in his class, but you have to also be willing to put in time outside of class to study. He has in-person/ zoom office hours, review videos, and study guides for each exam.
Just finished BIOL430+431 with Prof Moore for nursing pre-req's. If you find biology and medicine fascinating, take this professor. It is a lot of material and a 25hr+ time commitment each week (sometimes more), but he is very clear about the requirements and what material will be on quizzes/exams. He helps his students succeed!
PROF. Moore provides lecture notes and slides that help you focus on nailing the material. Every assignment he gives reinforces the major concepts. The class is difficult but he never left any questions unanswered. His online lectures could be a little more condensed. His exams are extremely fair and based of his study guides.
Prof Moore will give you a solid foundation of knowledge for your future programs. Not an easy A b/c A&P is rigorous and info heavy. Expect to study 20-30 hrs/wk for an A or B. If you have a lot personal responsibilities, take his class ONLY. Do 30 pts EC (25 SSC + 5 open lab). All study resources needed are provided. Supportive & eager to help!
P Moore has a lot of background, and his teaching's reliable and organized. 431 is no walk in the park, though. It's truly a "work hard and you shall succeed" class. He goes into great detail, but can be overwhelming if your terminology is rusty; use your online resources, break down A&P into simpler terms, and then watch his lectures
Professor Moore is very knowledgeable and enjoys teaching physiology which makes the class better. He wants you to do well in his class. The lectures are very informative and interesting. The study guide follows the lectures well. Professor Moore also had a great Canvas page for the class. He provides all of the tools needed to get a good grade.
Professor Moore is passionate about anatomy and physiology and it shows in is lectures. He is very lecture heavy, but in the bright side he test you on exactly what he teaches. He gives you lots of opportunities to keep you grade up and cares to see his students succeed. This is a hard class. Exam are difficult and use lots of critical thinking.
Prof Moore responds to emails very quickly, wants you to do well + provides a ton of resources. If you don't put the effort to do well, you won't get the grade you want. His tests were hard: lab exams are exact models he has on Canvas & lec exams are a mix of mc/short response. A LOT of material, little time for a break. As difficult as UC classes.
Professor Moore gives you all the tools and resources you need to be successful in his class. It is not easy. It REALLY will be 20 plus hours a week of studying if you want an A. But if you follow his advice and study the way he trains you, you will be successful and be very prepared for your program. I learned so much and I really enjoyed it.
Professor Moore genuinely wants his students to do well in his course and provides many resources and office hours to help them succeed! He creates his own study guides that correlate with the lectures and PowerPoint slides. Everything on the exams are directly from the study guides and extra credit is also offered on each exam.
professor puts too much focus on remembering every detail and saying exactly what he said word for word instead of learning the concepts. Takes advantage of having asynchronous lecture to assign extreme hours of lecture. Then uses lab time to lecture more. No real labs. Avoid if you have responsibilities or need more than one class in a semester
This hard class requires 30 hrs/wk= A. Study every day, don't cram. Lectures/study guide are thorough down to every detail which you'll need to know for exams. Explain concepts to others to find out what you truly understand. Moore is always willing to spend extra time to help you. His class will better prepare you for future medical programs.
If you're looking for an easy teacher, he is not the one for you. He makes it very clear that he has high expectations. However, he will provide everything needed to succeed and then some. He gives incredibly detailed study guides and is very willing to help. He'll provide a great foundation moving forward in your major.
This professors class is 3 hours. He talks the whole time and expects you to know what hes talking about and not clarifying. He tells you to go home and read the slides yourself. Your basically teaching yourself. He makes this class so boring. Lab days arent lab days he lectures on them as well. Dont waste your time! Hes all over the place.
Prof is extremely knowledgeable and I recommend taking this class to learn above & beyond. There is a quiz due 24 hours before every class starts, so if you can't commit time don't take. To succeed, you must watch prerecorded lectures beforehand and know the content b4 class since he often gets ahead of himself with vocab terms and concepts.
He is a good Professor so I'll leave him a good review. If you can dedicate time to his class, take him you will learn a lot. If not, look for another prof. His class is a huge time commitment, this includes both the class time itself and study time.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. TIMED QUIZ EVERY DAY says if you get a D on the quiz you are on track. You will not get an A. It is so much work and stress. He just talks and its like a Q and A the whole lecture and lab. Waste of money. Does not teach at all!
Do not take this class if you can't dedicate time outside of class to learn the material. Lectures are more discussion based to help you solidify your knowledge. He gives detailed study guides and if you know almost everything on that study guide, you'll pass the exams. He gives a lot of hw but it's good repetition. This class isnt for everyone.
This class is so hard. You need to have a high GPA to get into nursing school. I wouldn't recommend this professor if you are a busy person. You know exactly what to study, it's just so much. I would only take this class if you have time.
Prof. Moore's class was extremely difficult but this class was designed so that you can take away information instead of just memorizing and getting by. If you expect to study one or two days a week, this is NOT the class for you. Listen to his lectures, go to tutoring, and study a bit everyday! He's a nice guy and is always willing to help.
Currently still taking the class. But so far, so much unneccesary HW! More hw than any Biol professors! Willing to answer questions but often time dismisses us and tells us the ans. is always on study guide. Lecture is extremely boring. He just sits and talks. And sometimes write. Talks very very fast. Study the guide, get a good grade on exam.
I seriously don't understand how his ratings are so high!! I DO NOT recommend. I'm an A student and have a high A in his class right now, but it's MUCH HARDER than it needs to be. You're basically teaching yourself, there is a crazy amount of homework, and the amount of info you need to learn each test is insane. Spare yourself the stress...
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. He over complicates his lecture, he refers back to his 430 class ALOT without reviewing, and says everything you need to know is on the study guide but study guide is usually like 20 pages long each unit. Has LOADS of HW so no time to study by yourself. He makes this class way harder than it needs
So much useless hw that detracts from actual studying time + his lectures are long, confusing and a waste of time. I learned everything on my own 1-3 days before each exam. Score high on his lab exams (very doable) and you can slack more on the lecture ones. His class is also expensive and costs an extra $200 to access all the busywork he assigns.
Expects you to come to class already knowing the content. hard to follow along so you have to rewatch his online lectures multiple times. 2-3 study guides per unit each 20 pages long.Very hard to get good scores on the exams, only reason I got an A was due to the EC.He's very knowledgeable and has is willing to help. Nice guy, just an intense class
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. His lectures are long and he makes everything he says confusing. He requires us to know way more than other classes. There are quizzes before every class period about the topic he did not teach yet. He puts questions on the study guide in which we have to search for and lots of abbreviations. His exams are made to trick you.
This class is actually horrible. People kept falling asleep in his classes cause his lectures are just him rambling about the most off topic thing ever. It doesn't even match the slideshow!! A horrifying amount of homework, daily quizzes at home. I felt like I was doing homework instead of studying. Doesn't like helping u and tells u do it urself
Where do I begin? If you are a visual learner, pick another professor because he does not draw, write, or even get up from his seat. He only talks and often is off topic. He has slides but they dont match what he says. Daily popquiz, hw on tophat, pearson, and hw for lab. no time for studying. 0/10
Prof Moore's class is tough but rewarding. Lots of homework, but his study guides and resources, like Unstuckstudy ai, make exam prep a breeze. Attend lectures and you'll get the A.
Legit any other professor would be better than Professor Moore. Excessive amounts of homework which does not align with exam material very well. Lectures are long, un-engaging, and unhelpful. He expects you to watch his lecture videos before he goes over the material, and to watch them repeatedly after. Excessive time commitment even for AP.
I took Moore a year ago and I did not like it during. But in the end my perspective changed. His class really prepared me for the quarter system and although it was hard I'd say it disciplined me to always do better. He's very caring and his office hours help. Definitely better than some of the monotone UC profs. A is doable with hardwork
AVOID. If you take this class make sure to only take his class and that is it. heavy lecture. CLAIMS he doesn't let you retake any quizzes but I found out he let a classmate retake a quiz so I kindly asked and he declined. Currently taking another bio prof and it's such a breath of fresh air seriously he makes it more harder than it already is !
Moore is a great teacher: knowledgable, passionate about student learning, and generous with grading. It is the class itself that many people struggle with. It's a very tough subject and takes a lot of digesting. Definitely make this your only lab class because it is a lot of reading! His expectations are clear and he will never try to trick you.
all of these ratings are very old, but today. june 17 2025. he is very soft spoken and caring. he gives you everything you need, all you have to do is study. review the slides he tells you too and listen to him. the class is very simple if you just listen and try.
took this class summer 2025 and I absolutely recommend this professor for biol 431 genuinely such a great teacher and the format is so good the only reason I got a C is because it's been a busy summer for me but if it wasn't I know I could've gotten an A he gives SO much extra credit opportunities and the optional final if you mess up on any exam
