His exams are tough, but he makes sure that everyone knows exactly what information/concepts are going to be tested, so it is very doable if you show up for class and follow his study guides. He can lose people sometimes when he explains complicated things but always takes the time to go through it again if you ask questions.
Justin was the smartest person I have ever met. He gets going and loses people sometimes with it, but he always tries again and gets everyone to understand things that seem impossible. Great professor.
I have never liked science and Justin's class was always interesting. He can be intense about science, but is actually really funny and laid back about the class in general. If you want to learn how the body works and not just memorize a bunch of terms, take his class.
Amazing teacher! Had a horrible experience with my last anatomy teacher who was fired. He's very clear with the material going to be on the test, and his test are extremely easy if you study his PowerPoints.Really look forward to coming to Anatomy now!
His tests are only easy if you love science and are good at it. He expects a lot of understanding and the written part of his exams can be rough. Great professor though, and always trying to help students improve.
Best class I have ever taken. He will make your brain hurt, but it felt great to finally do more than just memorization.
attendance mandatory yo do good he makesit ver clear what is on the test if you are there. Kps it very interesting AWESOME instructor I wish he would instruct same time for a&p2 and micro
Great professor. He will let you know what you need to study for each test. Goes over concepts several times to make sure you understand how a system works. I highly recommend him...he is great eye candy too!!
I had Justin for Micro and loved it. I wish I could have had him for all my bio classes. He does not use the book at all and makes lectures interesting with his research background. It is not easy, but he makes it very clear what you have to know and his tests are fair.
Justin is an awesome professor! Always extremely willing to help students out! He is very fair with grading and always makes sure that we understand the material. He even goes the extra mile to post videos online to make sure his students understand! I would recommend anyone to take his class! But beware, he doesn't seem to tolerate idiocy well! ;)
Justin is a fun professor. He explains things clearly and is passionate about the subjects he teaches. He gives you the materials that you need to succeed in his class.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class, Justin finds a way to make his lectures interesting. If you are struggling he will help you. Its not the easiest class, but if you study and attend class you will be fine. He is a fair grader and is clear about what will be on his test. He is the best teacher I've had and I strongly recommend him.
His classes are fun. I usually hate listening to a professor for an hour, but he somehow made 3 hours fly by. The tests are hard, but there are no surprises. He goes over everything in class multiple times and gives good review sheets/videos.
Justin is unbelievably smart, and I thought he was funny. Best professor I have had yet. He ask lots of questions and tries very hard to make everyone think about the important concepts in class. The tests are not bad. Lots of material, but the stuff he reviews multiple times is most what comes up on the test. I'm taking him again for micro.
he is a very smart almost arrogant guy. he teaches over your head, but will explain, explain, explain until you understand. his text are straight forward. but he does have written questions on his test, if you dont write exactly what he wants or how he talks you will never receive full credit for them
Took this class condensed and was very fortunate to have Justin as my professor. Thank you Justin for stepping in and making this class interesting this summer.
Justin is very intelligent and funny. The class material is difficult but if you study your notes, which he provides, you will do well. Be specific on the essay questions on the test and you will do well. He is not bad to look at either.
He is a very smart guy and good teacher but tends to go off on rants with students about things that do not pertain to the class and should be saved for after class. Very good about helping you out and explaining things in another way. He really makes you think.
The class is laid back but he asks lots of tough questions to make you think. This was my first semester and this was my hardest but favorite class. Definitely taking him again for AP2.
Take Landis not Nussbaum. that is it.
Justin is a great teacher. He is tough but fair and is always willing to answer questions after class. He also answers emails in a timely manner. Don't skip class, because his in class comments are extremely important. I would recommend the text book for reference. He genuinely cares about his students, especially if you make the effort.
As long as you show up to class and put some time into studying you'll do fine. He tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests and is always willing to work with you if you don't understand something.
You can tell he is very smart and loves the subjects he teaches. He expects you to show up and does have hard tests.
Justin was a funny & super relatable guy which is cool because its like he's your friend & easy to talk to. He makes the lectures interesting so its not so long & boring. He never uses a book so don't buy one. However the power point notes do not have all the answers to the study guide. But he does give the answers to the study guide before tests.
He expects a lot of participation and thinking in class but doesn't assign anything for outside of class. The class is laid back and he can be funny but he is very serious about really understanding the material. Tests are tough but fair and very doable if you study.
It is tough but he will explain five different ways to make everyone understand. He definitely knows everything about the subject.
I really enjoyed A&P 1, but it was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Pay attention and study!
I enjoyed his class a lot. You have to show up to class and study, it's definitely not an easy class, but he does tell you he has office hours and is very willing to help you.
The class was challenging but he is so clear about everything and obviously tries so hard to get everyone to understand. The most frustrating part of the class was students that are too lazy or too slow to keep up and drag the rest of the class down. Take his class but don't expect to have anything handed to you.
More like a frat student straight out of college. The class is easy to pass, with a little effort.
Take his class if you can focus and pay attention and want to really learn something. He doesn't assign any busy work but you can't get by just memorizing the anatomy. He starts off seeming intimidating but will loosen up and is actually very funny and smart.
He wants you to know the information. He comes in early and stays late so he's there to help, he responds to e -mails quickly. There are videos posted online of exactly what we covered in class to reinforce topics. He gives good study guides and clear info of what is expected on exams. Gives option of taking an essay exam instead.
I love this guy, he is so knowledgeable about biology and is always willing to answer your questions. Lectures can be boring, but his humor makes them not bad at all. Exams are exactly what he says they will be with no surprises. He also doesn't use a textbook for Microbio!
Classes were very long. Must be there for lab. Tests are super hard, but if you study they aren't as bad. Great teacher, just super bland and tough material to learn!
Classes were very long. Must be there for lab. Tests are super hard, but if you study they aren't as bad. Great teacher, just super bland and tough material to learn! Justin offers extra credit sometimes but it isn't guaranteed. You must study, study, study!
Best professor I have ever had and I never learned so much. He is young, energetic, very smart and puts a lot of effort into the class. The material is difficult, but if you can keep up in class he makes hard things so clear and the test aren't bad. He is really too good for Lakeland so take advantage if you can. Enjoy those chili peppers.
I enjoyed his class so much I took A&P1, 2 and microbiology. Awesome teacher. Practice quizzes are on the exams.
My favorite part about Justin is that he is always available for clarification and reinforcement of the material. He knows his stuff and there is always something more to learn beyond the constraints of the lecture material.
Justin is by far one of the best professors I've had! Exams are tough but it's easy to get an A if you put in the work and prepare well. He takes the time to explain things thoroughly and makes class interesting fun.
He is a great teacher who makes sure you understand everything at each step. He explains things very clearly and uses everyday analogies to explain concepts. No homework, grade is determined by test scores. Excellent notes and study guides. I didn't have to buy a book bc his notes are sufficient.
Justin does a great job of explaining things in an easy to understand way. I highly recommend taking him for A&P. He is helpful and allows plenty of time for students to ask questions and discuss in class.
Justin is super smart, a nice guy and funny! He makes it clear what is going to be on the tests and gives you tips to study, the study guides and practice questions are helpful, He expects you to know a lot of details so make sure you pay attention and study hard! I do recommend Justin but make sure you put in the effort or you will NOT pass!
Dr. Nussbaum is the greatest professor that I have ever had! He is a phenomenal teacher and his classes are incredibly interesting. He is a genius, but understands how to make difficult concepts simple for simple people to understand. He influenced to pressure becoming a physician, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be his student.
He made helpful videos , and he was a good professor. It was just sooooooo much info.
Majority of tests are short answer and have choice to have all short answer. Know steps of processes and why they are used no matter what else you learn. If you are have a student who disrupts class you will be shut down, classroom is a place for learning not receiving attention.
The class is tough, but he explains things so clearly and spends so much time reviewing that if you pay close attention in class, it won't require too much studying. Also might be the smartest person I have ever met.
Absolutely a phenomenal prof. I took him for microbiology which is already a hard course but he made it simpliar. If you listen in lecture you really wont need to study much outside of class.
This is class where you need to study everyday but that is true for every AP class. Justin is so nice and honest with you. The final grade is just based on the exams and is lecture heavy. He doesn't want you to just memorize the material, he wants you to have an actual understanding of the material. Great guy, I recommend taking his class.
Hands down the best teacher ever.
Justin is a really awesome professor. He's funny and really helps you learn the material. He makes sure to explain things over again if you don't understand and uses every day examples in his lectures. He is very knowledgeable in his field and really does a great job teaching the lab as well. He makes lab fun. Overall great teacher.
I am genuinely going to miss being in this class and would take more with him if I could. He finds a way to be funny and relaxed while still making the class challenging and productive in all the right ways. You will have to work for your grade, but it will pay off in the future and be worth it.
Great teacher, had him for biol2210 the five week version, but I wouldnt have wanted any other teacher
Couldn't be better. Dr Nussbaum is unbelievably smart and overqualified for his job but still communicates clearly to students with no background in A&P. He balances being tough and professional while being laid back and funny at the same time. Also, what happened to the chili peppers? Can I give 10?
Great professor. Really smart, well organized, always willing to help and deadpans a lot of really funny jokes if you are smart enough to keep up.
Professor Nussbaum is very knowledgeable, and makes sure that you know the material. This class is not simply memorization and repeat, as you actually have to know how certain processes work. Attend lectures, study hard, and you will pass this class. Also, utilize the Youtube channel that Professor Nussbaum provides.
Had him for a summer class and he is way better than anyone I have had at OSU so far. Smart, funny and has clearly put a lot of thought into his courses.
Professor Nussbaum is a very good professor. He truly knows what he is talking about and he breaks down information so its easier to understand. He is also very caring. His class takes a lot of work and dedication. You have to be willing to push yourself!
Great professor and great class. You can tell he puts a lot of work into it and is the best at explaining complicated things in a way anyone can understand. Tests are tough but fair.
Crazy smart, funny and relaxed. Very helpful but wont baby anyone, you have to put some effort into it. This class made me think in a way that I have never had in a class before.
The worst professor Ive ever had! He does not prepare you for his tests and words his questions awfully. Almost in a way to trick you. I did horrible in his class and I am a straight A student. The way he explains things is so confusing. He also doesnt seem to care when you are doing bad in his class . I will never take his class again.
Online classes are awful but he was great. Lots of videos, review sheets and quick responses.
He is my all time fav prof! I took him for AP1, AP2, and Micro. I would take all of my classes with him if I could. He is pretty lecture heavy, but he gives you his powerpoint slides to print. Also if u are better at short answers rather than multiple choice, he allows you to take a full short answer exam. Always answered any question I had. 10/10
I would say hes a tough grader, but not unfair.. I would say his classes are for people who really are interested in learning and retaining knowledge. But a good hack Ive learned is his study guide and practice quiz questions are sometimes repeated and mostly just reworded on the tests. His study material is VERY useful.
Hes sooo smart. Its almost too much but he does a great job simplifying. Also really helpful and accommodating when I was out with Covid. Taking him for as many classes as I can.
Seems like a great guy and somehow knows everything about anything and explains things clearly. Just wish I had more time with in class.
He doesn't take attendance, however if you're absent you WILL miss valuable lecture time. In a nutshell, he isn't easy, but he's human and understands. You have to put effort, otherwise do not expect to pass. You don't really need the textbook, but it is cheap and a good reference; his notes and pwpt's is all you really need and again DEDICATION!
Easygoing but not easy. Straight to the point and lays out everything clearly, you just have to work at it. No homework or BS assignment and always helpful if you ask.
Only a week in and already might be the best prof I've ever had. Smart, funny, relaxed and still running a challenging class. Only with I had taken him for A&P.
Several of my friends had Justin before I did and they all gave him amazing reviews. He definitely does not disappoint. He presents the anatomy material in a way thats easy for anyone to grasp. He can be hard at times, but he takes his time to make sure you can handle it. Would absolutely take him again.
So I did say attendance is optional, which is true, but at the same time he goes over everything SO well in class that you are basically an idiot if you don't show up. He makes it fun and worth coming in. I would much rather come in and have him explain it than do it on my own.
I wish I could take every class with Justin. He is the most intelligent person I have ever met, but conveys his knowledge in a clear, concise way. Commitment is essential while taking his classes, as he knows exactly who is putting in effort and who is not. Get ready to hear lots of dry humor and cringe worthy jokes that help to memorize material
I had some trouble in this class throughout the semester with not being able to pass and exams but once I finally talked to him, he suggested some ideas to help and I passed my next Exam easily overall helping me pass the class. If you put in the effort you should see results in the class. He is definitely always there to help.
He can seem intimidating at first because he's so smart, but is actually really chill and helpful and funny. Definitely makes you think about things and not just memorize information. I would take any class he teaches and really looked forward to class every week.
I have no idea what this man is doing at Lakeland but you should take advantage and take all of his classes. Just unbelievably smart, funny and seems like a really great guy all around.
Nussbaum is the best. Knows everything and out anything, explains everything clearly, answers any questions and is really funny without getting off topic in class. Definitely a lot of work but you end up really understanding instead of just memorizing.
Doesn't respond to many emails, never lecture just makes you watch YouTube videos on your own time and very little feedback.
Great class and the videos are really helpful. It's a hybrid class, so that is how its set up. Watch the videos and then he explains more in class and really helps prepare you for exams. Also really fun and laid back. Great prof overall.
Great professor and great class setup. Really makes you think and the exams are straightforward.
Lecture heavy, but if you have a question he always has an answer. Super smart and knows what he is talking about. You have to watch the videos to do well in the class and his tests can be tricky, but it was a rewarding class to take. Plus he was hot so it made class more enjoyable.
Smartest person I have ever met and still communicates everything so clearly. Makes people laugh in class but still stays on topic and makes sure you understand everything before moving on. Video lectures are very well-done and paired perfectly with class time. Best there is if you want to learn and not just memorize. Yes, also very attractive.
Just an incredibly intelligent, interesting and engaging person. Very helpful and makes you enjoy coming to class.
I love him as a professor but he gives no homework so everything is on you to learn which is a bit hard to adjust to but once you do it gets fine to deal with. He is a easy person to get ahold of and I recommend taking him!
Does grade anything besides tests, and doesn't provide enough material to study correctly for said tests
Great teacher and really funny but you have to put in some effort. Class is all about understanding and less memorization.
He is definitely a great professor and does whatever he can do to see you succeed which goes a long way with how difficult this class can be. Make sure you are taking detailed notes and asking questions as you need to be able to understand the processes instead of just memorizing things. If you're willing to put the effort in you will succeed!
I don't think anyone at Lakeland knows how lucky they are to have this guy. Seems like he would be right at home at the best universities but is chill enough to explain things to anyone at any level. Don't pass up the chance to take him if you really want to understand things that matter and skip all the busy work.
Professor gives overwhelming amount of information. Gives different study materials but no similar questions end up on the test. Test are the only thing graded. Asks hard questions on test where I felt set up to fail. I studied for hours and still got B's on the test and class lecture doesn't help.
This is the perfect class if you are smart enough and want to understand things. No busy work and the exams aren't bad at all if you just pay attention and know what's going on. It's only a struggle if you just don't get the concepts at all and he's great at explaining.
He's one of the most intelligent, intriguing men I've ever met. Very magnetic personality and emphasizes the importance of grasping concepts and not just memorizing. Well-versed in both biology and life lessons; a big fan of A+ students. Then again, it's easy to come off intelligent when you talk about the same things every day, year after year.
He's legit, he's not gaming you. He's competent and honest. Take his class he knows what he's talking about. If you are supposed to be in that field you'll get get good grades and will have earned them. He's not a paper mill kind of guy. He's the kind of person you want to be affiliated with.
