The best man for the job! His is Westpoint educated and one hell of a professer. He will push you to your limits and you will love it all the way.The mans teaching style is one of a kind and so is he. If you can get into one of his classes feel very lucky.
EXCELLENT PROF. Willing to help, willing to care. Makes you work, but encourages you to learn. Best prof I've had yet!

Very interesting guy- I learned a lot!!! Great professor
Great guy and a great class. If at all interested in Human Resources I recommend taking this course and with Dr. J!
can learn a lot from this professor
Totally takes time out of his super busy day to help and just talk to his students. Gets to know them on a personal level and not as numbers. Honestly loves his job.
This class is tuff no matter what, but I guess he makes it as unbareable as possible. You gotta go to class and pay attention and if your confused, READ THE BOOK. Tests a tuff, study
Great Prof...learned alot...take the class if at all relevant to your major.
unlike these other people who odvioudly did not attend class very often. This guy teaches college like its boot camp. He was helpful but his test are really confusing and he knows but doesnt care. try Sudevan Before getting any were near this guy. Nice guy but way too difficult and confusing doesnt need to be
This class was probably one of the most challenging I've taken, but I learned a ton. Print the slides and bring them to class and don't MISS class and you'll be good. Nothing he does or designs is w/o a purpose - He's an IO psychologist! Also the most honest, ethical, intelligent, inspiring, no BS person I've ever met. I learned LIFE lessons here!
hes a good professor, his tests tend to be very challenging but you do learn a lot if you go to class. make sure to print out the slides and attend class cuz he tends to give several pop quizes!

Great Great Professor. Has a lot of enthusiasm for his subject. Hard though, you can't slack off in the class. Do the work!! If you keep up with him you'll do great. And trust me, it's worth it. I learned a lot about "the real world" as well as I/O
Rueb makes his class hard because he wants you to learn & retain the info. Which will happen if you go to class and read the book. There is a daily question so if you don't read the book your grade will suffer tremendously.Rueb is very helpful, fun, and really nice once you get past the first class period.
Challenging class, but always interesting and fun.
What a hard class! But I'm glad I had Dr. Rueb for stats, 'cause he tried so hard to make sure everyone understands the concepts, instead of just memorizing them. Do not skip class or get behind in the reading; you will get behind so fast. Dr. Rueb was always willing to adjust his pace and meet students who needed help outside of class.
Awesome teacher, very helpful, makes it fun to be in class. He does activities that help you to learn more and want to participate. You do what is assigned of you and you will pass. Always there for questions
Dr. Rueb is definitely challenging but also very knowledgable. He is a great resource and is always willing to help. Keep up with your reading and study! This is not a class you can easily skip and do well in, but it is worthwhile. I have learned a lot.
Great teacher! Helpful, even on tests. Don't be afraid to ask because he will usually point you in the right direction. His tested are multiple choice, but "applied," which means virtually no definitions. He can be a little intimidating the first two weeks are so, but he'll soften a bit. Just do the assigned reading and fill out your slides.
I learned a lot in his class. He moves at a quick pace, but he always has great examples for everything he teaches to make the students really remember what they are being taught.
Rueb is passionate and energetic about psychology. At times, his personality makes learning challenging. He's loud and unapologetic, but that's also his charm. His extra points system is inappropriate and biased at times. He can be discouraging, but it does come across that he wants his students to succeed. Interesting professor!
really interesting class. tough tests, excellent teacher. Always willing to help.
He is awesome!
AWESOME PROF! His examples are perfect and very applicable. He is always trying to think of examples that would help students remember the material. He is very passionate about the subject matter and it shows! I loved this class.
Rueb was and is a very intelligent professor that will try and get you to understand the info at hand. He is tough, but gives you other opportunities to get points, this helps! Come to class prepared (read) for the material b/c he loves discussion. Questions are hard on quizzes, study. Use proper grammar on lab write ups!
the most ecotistical and self involved professor I have ever met...
Dr. Rueb is a great teacher. I learned a lot and his enthusiam in I/O makes you want to learn. Helps if you never miss a class and skim over the chapter readings BEFORE class. Daily Questions!
Very good professor, great lectures and very entertaining and keeps you awake!
He's a really interesting guy, but this is not an easy A by any means because all of his tests and pop quizzes are application. Make sure you take good notes, STUDY for the tests, and come to class every day because he gives random points for coming and there are pop quizzes that you can't make up!
EASILY my favorite teacher of all time. Very easy to get in contact with when needed. Comes from a military background (retired USAF Lt. Colonel), and it's refreshing to hear a viewpoint other than the Democratic one all my other professors beat me over the head with. He's VERY interesting, fun, and all-around, a great teacher.
Professor Reub is overflowing with a refreshing amount of commonsense. He has great lectures, and gives you his power point slides prior to the start of class which makes note taking easy. If you put effort into reading and looking over your notes you can easily get at least a B if not an A. Go to class- there are pop quizzes!
I have never taken an class with him, just heard he was very good. But he was my advisor and bragged about how smart and successful his family was instead of help me plan my next semester. He makes you feel pretty small. Very egotistical and talks down to you.
An engaging and animated professor. His use of imagery is poetic. Truly, a gifted public speaker and expert in his field.
A very energetic and enthusiastic professor. Gives great examples and isn't afraid to get right up in your face. Go to class there will be pop quizzes when u least expect. Tests are applicable and very tough if you dont understand the matter through personal means. Otherwise, very good teacher and interesting to listen too. Will makemany laugh
I defiantly want to do something with Psych now because of Dr. Rueb. He's funny, very understanding, conservative, and care about you learning and retaining the information in his class. I have recommended to anyone taking Psychology that they should take it with Dr. Rueb. You won't regret it!
TERRIBLE! he's a great guy but when it comes to tests if you dont understand applied testing you are screwed. I have never had to study for a subject so hard and still come close to failing.
Huge on attendance. Not impressed with this ego or the constant brag book about his daughter and her interview with Yale. Definitely on a soap box up there but I learned a lot of applicable info from him. Still very irritating on a regular basis.
He is an amazing professor. He loves teaching and I/O. He relates material well to college students. He is definitely arrogant and loves taking about himself, but is approachable and really wants everyone to understand the subject matter. A lot of tedious assignments, but they help you learn about the subject. Would take another course with him.
Rueb is a funny and helpful guy. He doesn't really care about your grade and focuses primarily on learning. Go to class and expect engaging discussions and pop quizzes. Tests can be tough so look over material carefully and skim the text. He awards bonus points (up to fifteen). Study for the final because it's tough.
Great teacher! Definitly hard tho. Must attend class & take notes; if u do that the pop quizzes are an easy 100% if ur notes are organized. Class is always interesting & he makes it fun! Lots of studying is required for the exams tho. Actually have to work for a good grade. Even though ur grade might not show it, u'll leave w/a ton of knowledge
Very full of himself. His ego makes it hard to learn the material he's trying to teach. Also, he goes through a lot of the material too quickly to really understand what he's going to test.
I loved this class. I learned a lot! His lectures were always interesting. Going to class is mandatory. You will not do well unless you attend class regularly. The tests were difficult. I would recommend this class.
I recommend taking any class with Dr. Rueb. He is a very knowledgeable person who makes you feel like you want to learn and go that extra mile! You will want to attend class regularly due to 'pop quizzes' and to understand the material. He cares more about students learning the material than the letter reflected on tests and assignments
This professor is simply unfair. His test questions are often invalidated in regards to what we were expected to learn from the books and lectures. He is often cocky, rushed and rude. His lectures, in my opinion (I have taken AP Psych and HD) do not focus on what they ought to. And yet he tests on things he hasn't taught, yet we're expected to know
I would have to agree with the comments from 10/3/11. I had the same exact experience just a different class. throw out your syllabus he doesn't follow it and don't argue with him you won't win cause he is never wrong. his exams are very difficult to do well on & he takes a lot of pride in that.I wouldn't recommend him he can't be trusted
Hard, but awesome!
This class is very challenging, but well worth it. Dr. Rueb is by far the best professor I've ever had. Don't take him if you're looking for an easy A.
I took Psych 345. He is full of himself, a know-it-all and expects you to know everything he is teaching. He moves much faster than he should with course material and his tests are extremely difficult. The group test taking was nice, but other than that I did not like him as a person or as a professor.
Definitely recommend Professor Rueb! Easy to pay attention to due to his relevant stories that are actually interesting. His stories make the material easy to remember. Attend class! Pop quizzes boost your grade if you take notes (you can use notes on quizzes). Exams are fair. Favorite professor so far!
His classes are really interesting and relavent. I actually saw myself looking forward to them. He is a hard grader and can come as cocky, but he really wants you to be sucessful and gives lots of oppurtunities to up your grade. He is also nice to look at so that helps!
He is a great professor. The material he teaches is somewhat difficult to grasp but the tests are not killers. There are no surprises on tests. Go to class and you will get a good grade
He is a good teacher and tries to back everything up with other examples that the class will understand. Tricky exams. Must read the book and study often.
Dr.Rueb is not only a great professor, but a great person. He has helped me not only with classroom material, but with personal goals as well (graduate school, internships, etc.) He's funny and keeps you on your toes. His classes are difficult, but well worth the time and effort. I HIGHLY reccommend him if you're really interested in learning.
Dr. Rueb is a very good professor; he is enthusiastic about psychology and this makes the class interesting. However, his exams are somewhat difficult, even though they are all multiple choice. Sometimes questions relate to things he didn't talk about in lecture, but are referred to in the textbook. Make sure to take good notes and pay attention!
I could care less what people think of this guy's attitude. Justin is awesome! He's a great teacher and person. He strives to see his students do well and is incredibly helpful even not being in any of his classes (future advice). This is a guy you should know!
If you are fine with a prof who rants about his own religious/political views and bashes the views of others that don't agree with him in a class that is supposed to be about psychology then you'll enjoy this class. His arrogance made it difficult to respect him. He did cover a lot of good coursework but as a person he left a lot to be desired.
Most interesting lecturer EVER. You will need to swallow your pride a bit because he tries to get a rise out of students, but do things his way and you're fine. Lots of bonus points, which is good because the exams are very difficult. You need to be able to apply the material to a scenario, not just memorize terms and experiments.
Very good professor. Explains material well, and has good examples to remember what things mean. Would definitely take a class with him in the future. One of my favorite professors I've had yet. There are pop quizzes but he takes out your lowest grade, you can use notes on those, and on the final you can use a cheat sheet.
gets halfway through a problem & realizes he used the wrong data or formula. Writes down wrong numbers way to often. Goes way to fast even though constantly asked to slow down. Doesn't realize not everyone is good at math & hasn't had experience with stats for the last 20 yrs unlike him. DO NOT TAKE STATS WITH HIM UNLESS REALLY GOOD AT MATH.
He really wants you to learn. Always available for extra help. Tough grader. Lots of integrity. Rich in experience.
Professor Rueb is one of my favorite professors! I was so nervous when taking stats, but he made it super fun, and I actually enjoyed coming to class. Tests are difficult, but he is willing to help anyone! excellent professor, wish i could take him again!
He's a really good teacher, but make sure to go to all the classes and you'll do great!
He is a really great person! Hard teacher but if you ask for clarification he will give it to you. Easily on of my favorite proffesors I've had.
Dr. Rueb knows his stuff and is super passionate about the material. He encourages you to learn and is open for any questions. Definitely a guy to respect. Utilizes application testing, so the tests are not overly easy. But overall, a course where I learned a ton.
Professor Rueb is an amazing professor. He is very experienced in his area and deserves more credit. I will say the course was very hard and I had to put a lot of work into to get an A. You need to be ready to participate and buckle down to study to get a good grade. Gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
He's seriously the greatest professor I've ever had. He's also the most challenging professor I've ever had, and although I think I learned more in his class than any other class, I care too much about my GPA to take another class with him. Also, make sure you come to class EVERY DAY, he grades on participation and also gives a Daily Question
He is a great professor, but he is really tough with his grading. Connects with students really well and, if you put in the effort, he tries to help you succeed. His lectures involve using real life scenarios to help you relate and understand concepts more effectively. He does give periodical pop quizzes, but also gives extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Rueb is easily one of the best professors I've had. His tests are very difficult if you don't take the time to study. Although his class is difficult I've learned more from it than any other class I've taken.
He is here to help to get to know well about psychology and always seek for chances to give you extra credit. Don't miss it!
He's very passionate about what he teaches and I did learn a lot in the class . Its based off of three exams and there are pop quizzes (which are relatively easy if you take notes.) He went sort of fast through his slides, but if you put in a lot of time to know how to APPLY THEM, which is kind of difficult.
Dr. Rueb frequently gets off topic in lectures and discusses his political and religious views instead of material. He talks about himself a lot, is disrespectful to the students, and doesn't handle situations appropriately or with professionalism. Very limited office hours. Very arrogant. Tests are very very hard.
Professor Rueb (or Dr. J as he likes being called) is great! I would say that his class was the hardest one I had this semester, but worth it. Rueb is huge into his slideshows, and thats all you need to study. The key is, you really need to show up to class to complete the slides and take notes. He loves cracking jokes & keeping it light in class.
For all you saying he's arrogant, toughen up. This guy has a military background but you wouldn't even know it if he didn't tell you. An amazing professor, will be very honest with you and makes it challenging; however he completely sets you up for success. The rest is up to you, the college student to put the work in. No free handouts, great Prof!
It was all lecture orientated. Studying for this class was extremely hard because it was only based off of the lectures. Everything was thrown at me and expected me to retain it. Harsh grader as well. Sometimes there would be multiple right answers on a multiple choice test, how? He is a good person, but should teach differently.
Very good teacher, easily accessible and hes funny af. He cares a lot about his students! The class is lecture heavy so you do need to study a little bit, but he only tests on things he says. Dont need the book.
I absolutely LOVED Dr. Rueb! I learned so much in this class. Long lectures, but he breaks them up with little stories. You can tell he is extremely passionate about teaching and his students. He is easy to contact and is always available. Get ready to work hard--don't expect an easy A. Also, BONUS POINTS for participation, so participate!
I had this professor my first semester attending at UWSP. I attended his office hours many times, with continued little clarity of the subject matter. I did the outside readings. I even received help from a personal tutor at the TLC. He applies his lectures, nothing is based solely on memorization. I do not like this way of testing.
Prof. Rueb can come off as arrogant, but it is well warranted. If you give him some time and get past that, you will learn so much from him and it was great being in his class. I didn't receive the highest grade, but I didn't go all in for studying. You gotta show up for class though!
Dr. Rueb is a super kind and passionate prof! Yes, he does talk about himself a lot, but he does it in a way which relates to the topics of discussion and it actually helps you to understand the material better. Attendance is graded but his lectures are decent so its not too bad. Tests are also graded 2/3 individual and 1/3 small group
Amazing lectures. Harder intro course but very useful. If you do the extra credit it pays off big time at the end.
One of the toughest professors I have ever had! He knows what he is teaching about but is very arrogant most of the time. Also can be disrespectful at times as well. Never again will I go through such a professor like that. Rough way to start my freshman year. This professor should be only teaching higher-level courses.
Professor Rueb is one of the most difficult professors I think I will ever take. He goes very fast and doesn't take questions well at all. He doesn't care about his students and his tests are extremely hard and confusing. I felt like I was taking a 400 level class instead of a 100 level class. He is a great teacher, but he expects a lot.
Absolutely horrible. One of the worst professors ever. The class is based solely on tests/quizzes so there is no way to get your grade up if you dont do well on them. He is very arrogant and gets many questions wrong on his tests. He teaches the class as if it is an advanced course and not an intro course. He is not a good professor. Stay away!!!!
He did not teach the class like an intro course. It is only based on exams and pop quizzes. There is no other way to get your grade up. He is very arrogant and marked a lot of questions on the test wrong when they were actually right. I had to constantly ask him to correct them. If you are looking for a basic intro course, this is not it. AVOID!
Great and caring professor. I love all classes Ive taken with Rueb, he has good and engaging lectures and his quiz format helps your grade immensely.
I was a bit nervous taking this professor due to learning he has a military background, however, he is simply my favorite professor. He is very straight forward and can be a bit much, however it shows he cares. He cares for his students, and there is extra credit with the lab reviews. His tests are solo and group and he takes the better grade.
Dr. Reub is by far my favorite professor Ive had. Although I had him virtual for my freshman year, he made the class fun and enjoyable. He often gave pop quizzes, but always allowed us to use our notes/book on anything. His lectures were very informative and he uploaded everything ahead of time. Be warned though liberals, hes conservative :)
Pretty good professor. He is good at teaching the content, but makes what we learn very personal to his own life (which is partially helpful). If it matters to you, he talks politics a lot. It's a tough grading system, but respectable. SHOW UP TO CLASS or you will be very confused on the criteria. Good elective though
Professor Rueb is definitely one of my favorite professors. He can be very lecture heavy but his lectures are engaging and he adds in personal experiences which also makes them more personable. He definitely isn't the worlds easiest grader but if you read the textbook and take notes on his lectures, you'll be just fine!!
Dr. Rueb presents the material and information in such a straight-to-the-point way. If you skim the textbook the night before, you'll be just fine in lecture. While he can come off as arrogant at times, it is a misinterpreted arrogance. He has accomplished much in his life, and wants to help his student accomplish just as much.
STAY AWAY!!!! Dr. Rueb did not provide rubrics for any assignment. The syllabus posted in class was from 2018. The feed back on all assignments were unclear and inconsistent. Dr. Rueb canceled office hours without notice, and failed to respond to emails. Spends most class periods speaking about himself rather than course material.
Good guy, AWFUL professor. Lacks rubrics for key assignments, misses his own classes + doesn't notify students until next day, can't accept criticism/offers excuses, spends class time talking extensively about himself + his accomplishments, gives inconsistent feedback, is extremely difficult to get ahold of. Will never take a class with him again.
Dr. Rueb is by far one of my favorite professors in the psychology department. This class was particularly difficult, but Dr. Rueb made it very hard to fail. He goes out of his way to form a connection with his students and is always able to help with homework. He gives students multiple ways to reach him and encourages them to contact him.
I know all about the air force academy, his political views, his fashion preferences, how he taught all his classes with internal bleeding, how he hates zoom, and that he has at least 2 daughters but I don't know anything more about psychology then when I started. I mean he's a fine guy but his actual teaching needs work.
Even though Dr. Rueb talks about his experiences a lot it genuinely helps people on the test. Instead of learning a definition we can remember the stories he tells us and how it relates to the term. He is funny and gives out a ton of bonus points.
Mainly test based and all conceptual question, need to fully understand and apply all theories and definitions. Felt like I was taking a 300 level course rather than a 100 level. Found my cellular biology final easier than his final.
Dr. Rueb spends more time talking about his personal life than Psychology. He expects all notes to be taken prior to the lecture, therefore lecture time can be wasted blabbing on about his personal achievements, political views, etc. The points in this class are solely based on 4 exams and a couple of pop quizzes. He also uses offensive terminology
although he expects notes to be done ahead of time that doesn't really matter because he will put things into his own words for you to better understand. he also uses the easy equations that make you do less calculations which is nice.
Very knowledgeable in his area of expertise and an eccentric guy.
Exams are not horrible, he lets you use notes/notecards. There's two papers and four exams, and he's harsh on attendance grades (it's 20% of your grade). His lectures are boring and his slides have fill in the blanks that he doesn't ever fill. Didn't learn a whole lot and I just don't like his better-than-everyone-else attitude.
AWFUL Professor. Made it clear from the first day that if you had a problem with him being offensive or rude to drop the class. Talked about himself most of the time. You could use notes on pop quizzes and notecards for exams. The final was online, very confusing, and nothing you could do to study. Wouldn't recommend.
Dr. Rueb is like no other professor on campus. He was in the air force. He will make sure you know this. He will also make sure you know that everyone in the world sucks but he is different. He is a pretty chill guy but gets distracted by made-up political arguments often that no one else mentioned. Very passionate. He would change your tire.
At first, I figured that Dr. Rueb was just someone I didn't like as a person. I tried to see past this and only care about his teaching skills...but I soon learned he just gets side tracked and often puts questions on the exam that he hasn't gone over. However, you can use your notes on pop quizzes and you will often see these questions again.
He can be narcissistic, egotistical, and very political. He has morals and values that he dumps onto you, and he randomly assigns quizzes. But if you ignore his faults hes excellent at teaching. Everything he talks about during lectures is on the exams and quizzes, if you just pay attention and attend class you'll pass.
Cares for his students, is very helpful, responds quickly to emails, and is very nice. I took his class during an election year and he made his opinion very clear during multiple classes which was frustrating, but it didn't bother me much. Often gets off-topic during class. Going to class is important, he's a funny guy though so it's worth it.
Professor Rueb has a unique teaching style, weaving personal anecdotes into the lectures. While conceptually challenging, his engaging approach helps cement the material. Paired with useful study tools like unstuck ai, the class is manageable with dedication.
