Mr. Sorensen is a phenomenal professor. Take BSAD220 with him absolutely! He is great at preparing students for interviews, cover letter writing, resume writing, and is so helpful and approachable in other ways. He's the coolest professor I've had at Loyola and thanks to his class I am applying to the Quinlan School of Business.
Overall great professor at Loyola. He has a lot of experience and knowledge in the business world that he brings to class and it makes the lectures a lot more interesting and relevant.
Great professor that really cares about his students. His lectures are fun and practical and his class topics are relevant to the real world. Added benefit- He looks a nerdy Ryan Gosling.
Super easy business core class. Sorenson is hilarious and really laidback. This course is 2 credits and consists of 9 different grades. Class meets once weekly which is nice. As long as you show up to class (allowed 3 absences before it affects your grade) and pay attention to instructions then it's an easy A!
Just come to class and you'll get an A. The assignments are really easy and he doesn't grade that hard on papers/projects. He likes to cancel class a lot too so that's nice. He's really funny and also has a lotttt of experience in the business field. Definitely take him. Don't buy the textbook you don't use it at all whatsoever.
This is a required core class for the business school. Take it with Sorensen-he is a great professor and really is interested in helping his students achieve success outside the classroom. Come to class and participate and you'll do well.
Take Mr Sorensen! Class is easy and he makes it interesting. He's also hot.
Sorensen gave the typical BSAD assignments and was a fair grader who provides decent feedback. Takes attendance in class. Gave good insights into professional development techniques and strategies. Can be funny and kind of sarcastic.
Core class required to graduation. Sorensen has a successful career in business and has a ton of experience he brings to class. He helped me get an internship at Morgan Stanley and is very big on helping you get started in your career. Class is easy and there is no final.
He's very handsome! Very smart professor who actually teaches in the field he works in. Definitely take him when you register for BSAD 220.
Really nice guy with a lot of business experience. He has some really big clients and he brings that experience and stories into class.
He seems like a decent guy. Very dry humor. You can tell this is his second job- he isn't accessible outside of class at all. Easy A, but very unnecessary assignments. Pray you don't have to do Edsero.
Great professor with TONS of business exerience. Really cares about his students amd helped me figure out my career path. This class has an online component called Edsero and it is TERRIBLE . No idea what the point is and it never works.
Justin is a great professor. He's a VP of a company which is pretty legit. He knows what he's talking about and gives great feedback on resumes, cover letters, brings in guests CEOs/Directors/ "Higher-ups" of companies and they give you career and life advice to help you strive in your career and academic path. Overall , TAKE HIM .
One of my favorite professor's at LUC. He met with me outside of class to help me get an internship. Really funny and caring professor. PRAY you don't have to do Edsero with Mark - it's HORRIBLE!
Justin is a great guy who really just wants his students to do well in the real world. In terms of the class, Justin is not going to force you to do copious amounts of homework but you will get out of the class what you put into it. Talk to him outside of class for great real world advice and suggestions. Take him!
Justin is a great professor! Take him!
Justin is the most caring professor that I have had at Loyola. His class is very easy if you complete all the assignments.
His career class is nice. I learned lots of things about career.
Take him for BSAD 220 YOU will learn so much and it will change your life!. Class is an easy A if you do the assignments and really helps you with how to make it in the business world and navigate your own path. Sorensen is funny and caring and has so much experience that he can share and help you with your own career.
Good class. You'll learn a lot about the business world.
He really inspired me to start thinking about my career path and even helped me get an internship. The mentors are AWESOME!
Truly one of my favorite professors at Loyola. He is very very knowledgeable about the business world and companies in Chicago and also works full time as a VP so he brings in a ton of real world examples and experience to class. He motivated me to get my first internship in the finance industry. Class is easy if you attend and pay attention.
Amazing professor. I ended up having to drop because I could not finish the mentor component on time, but I will 100% be retaking with him next semester. Don't skip class. Assignments are easy.
Must take course. We were matched with alumni mentors in this course and half the class basically got internships or jobs.
You can tell he knows what hes talking about and he makes the class fun. You had to participate in the mentorship program and it was worth most of the grade. Assignments are really easy and theres no outside reading or anything.
There are a lot of writing assignments (resume, cover letter, essay about what you've learn, essay about making progress with your mentor). You will be matched with a mentor and you'll have to see him/her at least twice outside class. Professor Sorensen is really funny, so it definitely helps with listening to the lectures. Turn in HW on time!!!!
Very practical class. Lecture based but professor Sorensen makes the class very fun and informative.
This is a core class that you have to take for your BBA. In Mr Sorensen's class you are paired with a mentor which is really cool- mine was really high up at Chase Bank. Very little homework and maybe 5 assignments all of which are very easy if you just follow his rubrics. Go to class and participate and you'll get an A.
Really liked this class. You get a mentor to work with throughout the semester.
Good course. Nor hard if you go to class and participate. Easy A.
Class organization is awesome and material was helpful outside of class as well ie. resume building, networking, interviewing etc. He brings in panels of alumnae to speak as well as pairing you with a mentor which is cool. For being a requirement he has really high expectations but its do-able if you go to class. Nice guy, kind of full of himself
Love him
Breezy class that meets once a week.
Awesome class you get partnered with a mentor alumni
He is seemingly very nice and I enjoy his lectures. For one of my assignments, I forgot to turn in one part of it and he failed me for the whole project. I hoped he would be a little compassionate with being all online and just transitioning, but he wasn't. He comes off as arrogant in lectures but gives good information.
cool dude you'll learn a lot about the business world
I have had 4+ internships and worked since I was 15 and was forced to take this class. It's a waste of my time and money. If you've NEVER worked before, this is a good class. Otherwise, it's boring and pointless. Gave me a B on my resume that actually got me a Big4 internship for the past 2 years. He's annoying and makes this class so much work.
Great class with professor that has a ton of business experience. you get to work with mentors in your field of study.
Really boring class if you have already worked in your field of study/had an internship before. Loyola wouldn't let me bypass my credit for this class so I was stuck in it. Meant for kids who have never applied for a job before and/or never worked a day in their lives; basically majority of LUC students. If you have a job, he grades you VERY harsh.
Took this core class which is required. I took it with him at my roommates advice and he was awesome. Added bonus you get to work with a mentor all semester.
Easy A. No midterm or final exam.
Required class not many assignments and you get a mentor. Very easy to get an A.
If you've never built a resume, this class is for you. He acts like he knows the ins and outs of every industry but really doesn't. If you can avoid, do so. He is SO MUCH extra work for a class meant to be easy. LOTS of essays with nonsensical critiques/grades. He is arrogant & belittles students who have real jobs & took this class just for CORE..
Easiest core class ever
you get a mentor in this section who helps you on your resume and applying to jobs throughout the semester
Prof. Sorensen is the best BSAD teacher. He's worked in the corporate world and has a unique perspective on things. Great class and you will learn a lot. He is a clear grader and makes a great environment in class.
Amazing class take him
awesome class great teacher with a lot of experience in business
Go to class, talk to him and participate, you will learn a ton and probably get a job before everyone else in your class
he's great
He can be somewhat condescending in that he thinks he knows and understands the ins and outs of every industry. The best part of the course is receiving a mentor in your chosen field who guides you through objectives and gives you advice. I would recommend this class only for the mentor component if that is something you're interested in.
Amazing class with mentors. Justin has a lot of real world experience that he brings to class. Super smart business guy.
Super funny, definitely recommend him for BSAD 220
Smart funny good class
Best teacher for bsad and you get a mentor. My mentor got me a job.
Great class he is very knowledgeable and you will learn a lot about how to position yourself to be successful in business
He is the worst professor I have ever taken at Loyola Chicago. Everyone must be prepared to follow Justin Sorensen's career path or else you'll fail. He is one-sided and only has one way of viewing the job application process. I have never had a professor who puts me more in a box. DON'T TAKE!!!!!
I have never had a professor at Loyola that was so inspiring. He knows so much about the business world and his lectures have helped me fine tune my plans for after graduation including what internships to do. He is sarcastic and real - so might not be for everyone. You will definitely learn in this class either way.
This is the best for bsad220 its a mandatory course
If BSAD 220 is a required class for you take it with this professor.
The criteria is really clear, you either do the work or you don't. He is very good at speaking to the class and pretty funny. He got a little sloppy at the end, I remember having multiple classmates confused on what we were supposed to do at the end, that is the only reason I gave him 4 stars. Other than that he was pretty good.
Very good and motivating class that gets you thinking past the walls of college.
Great class! I learned a lot from Professor Sorensen because he has a ton of real world experience. I also loved working with my mentor from this class, it was a really great experience.
Great class i'd take this over the other sections without the mentors
You learn a lot in this class about the business world. He has real world experience which is super helpful. I wish there were more networking opportunities.
Very good class that helps you figure out how to navigate the world outside the classroom. I ended up with an amazing resume that got me an internship.
Very good class not like other boring lecture classes. Def a daddy.
He smells good
Super knowledgeable about the business world and wants his students to succeed. Lets us out early since our class is once a week at 4:15. Not that accessible via email, but the class is super straightforward and easy. He's a nice guy who has a lot of experience and advice that helps you navigate your career search. Def the best prof for this class.
Brings real world experience into the class. Very practical.
Really engaging professor and knows how to work a room and talk to students. Speaks from a ton of experience. That being said, don't expect him to post a rubric or assignment details to Sakai until the day the assignment is due (although in all fairness he does talk about them the class prior).
Great class
Professor Sorensen is an okay choice for BSAD 220; he gives good lectures but little to no feedback on assignments and is a very strict grader. There is no room for extensions or late assignments so be aware of that. Class is solely lecture based, not accessible outside of class, and participation matters.
This is a core class that you have to take to graduate. It's pretty easy but the mentorship takes some time outside of class.
Amazing prof. Sometimes for he forgets to post some of the assignments, but you really get a lot out of this class.
Easy class if you show up and participate
Not a great choice for this class
It is kind of a silly class but it was really easy. Just do the 4 assignments and the final presentation. He talks as if its a hard class but it really isnt. Also sometimes the class is online. Take him!
He's decent for lecture but he doesn't respond to Emails. He told me to email him my final, and then i told him i couldn't because the file was too large and he didn't get back to me for over a week. Keep in mind other peoples finals were turned in and getting graded and he hadn't responded to me still.
Fantastic professor really liked the class and mentors
He is very experienced in the field and gives good advice. Tough grader, he is prepared to give you a zero for a tiny mistake. It's harsh considering I had no experience in resumes or anything like that. The class is supposed to give you valuable feedback on assignments and help you. Instead, he gives you low marks with little to no feedback.
Great class learned a lot from him
Id really like to take private lessons with him
Justin is a cool guy and I would love to learn from him privately. As a teacher, he gets the job done but doesn't give any feedback on assignments ..and sometimes gives off a little arrogance. But, overall a very straightforward class there is a fair amount of outside time commitment needed to finish the mentoring process but its all manageable
Great option for career prep
Professor Sorensen is a nice professor and sets up students for success. At times takes awhile to get grades and unresponsive but his class was enjoyable.
Tons of real world experience. Helped me get a job. Probably one of the smarted profs at LUC
I am very happy with all the work I put into this class. Justin is very experienced in the business world and taught us many things to prepare ourselves for the future. That being said, HE did not put in much effort. We wouldn't see him for weeks at a time and he made us work on massive projects to learn by ourselves rather than him teaching.
Excellent professor but even a better person. Professor Sorensen is a really nice guy, his lectures are pretty cool and with just paying attention to what he is saying, getting a good grade will be easier. QUIN 202 is the most important class in Loyola, because it would prepare you for your career and professor Sorensen is great at it.
Excellent professor. Definitely pay attention to his lectures (they're short) and you will do well.
I would avoid taking Professor Sorensen. The class is quite simple, and is more a resume class. He has difficult exams, which I know absolutely no one who passed. I was the most active and engaging in the class and I didnt even get 100% on participation. He is a very harsh grader, and exams were just too extra for this class.
Easy class, hard grader, cool guy. Take that as you will
