He definitely knows the material, but he is a terrible lecture giver. he monologues really bad and goes on and on without stopping or including the class. he needs to do more problems with the class and explain things better. he usually will just work the problem and narrate while he does it, which doesnt effectively teach the subject.
He is very knowledgable, and he is also very student friendly. He had regular hours in the Math Assistance center and was always available for help. He never took longer than about 30 minutes to return an email even at 11:30 pm. Expect homework, but if you do it you get full credit and tests come straight from hw. He also posts practice regulary.
He is very willing to go through anything you ask and constantly asks the class if they have any questions about anything. He offers tons of extra credit opportunities through practice problems and sample tests. However, his form of teaching can be a bit tedious to sit through but he is extremely helpful and kind. I received an A in his class.
Super friendly and very good at explaining things but goes too fast in class and expects students to do all of the learning(reading 3 sections + 30-40 homework questions per class). Gives study guides and the likes so the tests aren't brutal but the day to day class work is quite stressful to keep up with.
Justin Turner is a super nice guy, but his class was one of the worst math classes I've been in. He basically just writes on the whiteboard for the entire time and is not really great at 'teaching'. I found that doing the homework and teaching myself at home was my only option. Do the homework, it's long but helpful.
Prof. Turner amazing very enthusiastic and wants you to ask questions and participate during lectures. He response to emails within the hour. Weekly online homework you need to understand to do good on the tests. Homework can take awhile especially if your not great at algebra, but online homework makes it easy to learn. I ending up with a A+
I took college Algebra with Justin Turner and this was by far the easiest class Ive ever taken. Do the study guide and you will get over a 100 the the test. Very accessible and helpful. Lectures are very boring and drag on. Need to at least sign in because attendance is a part of your grade. If you ask for help on a test he will do the problem.
I am a "mature student", nearly 40. I had to go back to college after an extreme hiatus , and that meant that I needed to finally face my fear- I honestly thought that I couldn't "do math". Those thoughts and fears were unfounded. Mr. Turner made everything clear and digestible, that I sometimes found myself ENJOYING math. 2021 is crazy.
This is NOT the class to coast in. He goes quickly, but gives great in-depth examples. And hes happy to review ANYTHING, and very quick to respond to emails. Do the work & ask questions; youll pass. Its a hard subject, but he knows and WANTS you to succeed. Lots of extra credit built in, and TWO tries on exam questions! Very kind instructor!
Math is not my strong suite so I was nervous starting this class. I worked really hard and to my surprise, I passed with a B! Great professor and always available to help whenever needed.
Statistics wasn't a breeze for sure, but Mr. Turner made it a lot easier than I had expected. He gave very great lectures and didn't deviate on the exams what he taught in class.
I have never enjoyed math, but this professor is very helpful and I never dreaded having to do work in this class. Be sure to stay on schedule with the online assignments. He is very accessible over email.
If you have taken stats in high school, this class is incredibly easy. I never showed up to class(it was asynchronous), but when I did need help with anything Mr. Turner answered very fast. He puts out a lot of helpful videos and notes so reading the textbook isnt really necessary. Theres also 10 bonus points on every test which is pretty cool.
All work is done through Cengage, an online subscription where you can find examples, the textbook, and request help from professor Turner. The course relies on you to go at your own pace as long as you turn work in before it's due. I would usually do homework throughout the week then the quiz on Fridays, overall the material is easy to learn.
Although Statistics is not my favorite, Professor Turner was available for help even after office hours and on weekends. It was evident that he cared about our education and was willing to work with us if we didnt understand a concept. Gave practice tests before each exam that went over exactly what was on exam. Gave extensions on homework.
Main issue from this class was an odd schedule for assignment. Tests over chapters were due before homework of those chapters. Ex. test due on the 5th, homework for that test due on the 12th. Meanwhile, needed to complete homework to prepare for test over the same chapter.
Extremely accessible and very thorough with his teaching, he was super helpful to me throughout the entire semester
Overall Mr. Turner was a very attentive teacher and always did his best to answer questions in a timely manner. I remember at one point I emailed him at I believe 11:00pm; I didn't expect a response till the next morning but he responded almost immediately and helped me finish the assignment.
He’s not awful, but his teaching style is definitely not for everyone. It’s obvious that he knows what he’s doing and doesn’t copy problems straight out of a textbook, but trying to understand what he’s teaching is hard. Overall, would not recommend. I learned more from YouTube than his lectures.
Best professor on campus. He lives and breathes his areas of expertise. He'll answer any question you have about anything and go as far in depth as you can stand. There is a fair amount of homework, but...it's a college course, man. The class can be tricky BECAUSE the concepts are tricky, but he'll absolutely help you through it.
He is very nice and very understanding. Really dedicated to your success. I hate math, but he made me hate it just a little bit less.
While he was very attentive and replies back very fast. He almost made me feel dumb when I asked a question. That may be the way he is but it really made me feel like I was an idiot at times. I think he needs to work on how he approaches his students and his tone in his emails. Other than that he was a good professor and the class was managable
Statistics is not an easy subject, but this professor truly cares about his students. He is attentive and dedicated to your success. As long as you put in the same effort as he does, then you should easily pass this class. You will get tired of his long, long emails, but he is always there for you whenever you have questions regarding the material.
Easily accessible both during and after office hours, and promptly replies to messages including on weekends. Provides generous support with homework and will provide videos working any example you ask breaking down the material to make it attainable. Homework is time consuming so must (loosely) follow suggested schedule.
Professor Turner is really passionate about what he teaches, and he will give help to anyone that asks for it. If you want to pass, all you have to do is read, do the homework, and ask for help when you need it. The textbook, homework, and tests are all online, and the exam is written.
Cares about his work and his students. Accessible when you need him and does not hesitate to help you on a problem you are struggling with. Provided detail notes and videos over questions to help you better understand them.
Professor Turner went above and beyond in the Statistics course and I'd highly recomend him. I took short summer session so pace was necessarily fast and this type of subject matter is hard for me but he was always available to help me understand. He made special videos on concepts we had problems with - I'm pretty sure he worked 24/7 for us!
Such a fair professor. He really does want students to understand the material. You can ask him any questions. He posts step by step videos as well as chapter notes. Professor Turner devotes a lot of time to his students.
Explains things well and always willing to try to help. Tests are short but not to hard. Freely answers all questions. Great teacher.
Mr. Turner is an excellent professor. He is very helpful and will create demo videos for any exams you may need extra clarification on. Math was not a skill set of mine but the design of this course was very doable and I received an A in the course. I would highly recommend having him as your professor!
Professor Turner is a awesome mathematician and professor. He is always there for you and wants his students to succeed in his class. He gives you plenty of opportunity to get clarification on material and help with problems that you are having. His expectations are clear from the first day of class.
He can go through anything anytime in person and by email or by any possible mean. He is really helpful from day 1 to last day!
Mr.Turner is AMAZING! I struggle a lot with math, but his constant feedback, reminders, and accessibility to ask questions allowed me to succeed! You will love his classes!
Mr. Turner is very helpful and very available for his students. He cares greatly about the success of his students. You can expect a lot of commication from him. He is very clear about the expectations of the course. You can expect to spend a decent amount of time on homework/studying. I am not a "math person" but learned a lot.
Just do your work & youll pass
Dr. Turner was a great teacher! He has videos reviewing every homework problem, and after the test, he goes over every question in a very detailed manner. There were two types of grades: homework grades and tests/exams. There are bonus questions and extra credit available. Everything for the course is on Blackboard. Quick email response time.
Great teacher. Always available for help and provides good instructional videos for all problems.
Justin is extremely helpful & accessible. The material is challenging. But I found myself not even needing the textbook halfway through bc his lectures and detailed "how-to" videos were incomparable. If you use the "ask your teacher" button on Cengage or email him, he responds within 5 min. Every time. He is here for YOU. Utilize him!
READ the initial syllabus and rules of the class and every email. Look at the blackboard for old test, notes and video notes plus the book. USE THEM!! Start the homework early and complete them. Attend class, you will learn better. He does not mind questions and is easy to talk to. The course is not hard, you just have to do your work.
Use the ask my teacher option on Cengage because it will help you a lot specially for an online course. He will even make a separate video for you to understand any problem. His tests are very similar to the practice tests that he assigns. There is an insane amount of homework assigned though so be ready to put effort in this course.
He taught everything really well. He made everything easy to understand and follow. The homework assignments were easy to do and helped out a lot. He gives you plenty of time to work and turn everything in. He gives access to old test so you know what to expect. He made this class a breeze 10/10 would recommend would take another class by him.
Mr. Turner was an absolutely fantastic instructor. There is no doubt that he wants his students to succeed in any way possible. He believes that the whole point of the class is to learn, and he goes the extra mile to make sure you are properly understanding the information. A lot of homework, but a great teacher. He makes statistics easy.
Mr. Turner was an amazing teacher! He was available outside of class time & even on weekends. He responds in a timely manner. Gives you every example and video material needed to succeed in the exams and homework. The homework is very time consuming but he gives you so much time to complete in a timely manner. There is no way you cant get an A+!
He is an amazing professor! I've never been particularly strong at math, but he showed formulas along with their proofs to give a strong foundation and really taught it all in a way that made a lot of sense to me. He's always available if you need help, and he really cares about his students! By far the best math course I have ever taken!
Incredibly helpful and incredibly accessible. He'll eagerly answer any questions you ask, and makes sure you understand what you're having trouble with before moving on. He also provides supplementary material for the course on his own time. Overall very dedicated and caring. Without a doubt one of the best professors I've ever had!
Professor Turner was always ready to respond to your emails as soon as he possibly could, I don't remember having to wait very long at all to receive feedback from him. He gave clear and concise instructions as well as going over the items very well. He was also super accommodating to my hectic military schedule and I will always appreciate that.
He really did his best to make sure everyone passed his class, he made you feel welcome to ask questions, even during tests, and would never leave you to fend for yourself. Mr. Turner is truly a professor who wants you to succeed. I loved his class.
Awesome Professor! I would 100 percent want him as a Professor again. He is very helpful and is patient with his students. He works very hard to make sure that all of his student have all of their questions answered before the tests. He shows he cares about each individual student!
Mr. Turner is very passionate about the subjects he teaches and really wants students to succeed. He communicates very effectively about his expectations and is easy to reach with any questions. The course content was a bit overwhelming at times just because there is so much to get through. I enjoyed this class and would definitely recommend him!
Justin Turner give amazingly clear lectures on tough information making it more understandable.
Makes things pretty easy
I loved this course. Professor Turner is very helpful and puts out very detailed videos for online learners. I learned a lot in this class compared to the other ones I took this semester.
Lectures are very detailed. Easy to reach out. Timely information and reminders provided
Mr. Turner is the best online teacher I've ever had. Easy to reach, fast to respond, and truly cares for your success. The subject matter is challenging and the homework can be a lot sometimes if you're working/taking more classes. That being said, you are given more than enough via lectures, study guides, and demonstration videos to do well.
You definitely want to read the material BEFORE heading to the lecture, otherwise you will be lost. Lectures are more for working through example problems than introducing the new material. Mr. Turner is very kind, his requirements are very clear, and he gives lots of feedback. Also a generous grader.
He's awesome. He's very quick to respond to questions and explains things in a way that is VERY easy to understand. He urges you to at least try all the classwork and if you are trying AT ALL you will pass. He's also just super nice. One time I was doing the homework at like midnight and sent in a question and he responded like super quick.
Professor as a person is amazing. Answers questions very fast and works with you to make sure you understand. The class itself was quiet boring at times, but that wasn't due fault to the professor more or less just the way discrete math is. One thing to note, He does like you to have read the material ahead of time as well.
If you put in the time and do your reading and homework you will be okay. He is very very helpful, thorough, and attentive. He wants you to succeed and will help you to do that. Be diligent and pay attention to due dates and extra cred
Would take again! Attentive and WANTS you to do well in the class. Cares and provides a lot of material for lessons. The only thing that could have been better for me personally was the testing process, having to print my test during the allotted time and take it over zoom at a specific time provided unnecessary difficulty imho. Otherwise awesome!
Prof. Turner is an excellent communicator - I've never had a professor communicate so effectively and quickly in all of my years as a college student. Prof. Turner does make you work hard for your grade, which is the way it ought to be. I signed up for a Fall math class with him after taking his summer course. That should sum it up.
Knows the content well, is very nice, and responds to questions fairly quickly. As long as you do the HW (which isn't that much) and watch his online demonstration videos on Blackboard you'll be well prepared for the tests and final. Really do take advantage of all the stuff he posts on Blackboard and ask him questions, he answers them well.
It took me some time to get used to the way he teaches, but eventually this became an easy class. The professor is very nice and caring. He is very helpful whenever you need some help. Obviously it is a math class so there is a lot of content to learn, but with the textbook and the homework it is easy to master each topic.
This class was easier than I expected. I passed this class with an A by completing the homework on time, studying the practice tests as recommended, and asking for help. Mr. Turner is VERY knowledgeable about the material and really patient if you don't understand. The lecture videos and tests solutions videos come in handy. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr. Turner works hard to bring you constructive feedback on your exams, drilling into your rigor and proposing fallacies to your proof-writing, which will challenge you to think outside the box mathematically and logically. As an engineering student, this course popped open the hood on derivations I've encountered in calculus.10/10 would recommend.
Discrete mathematics with Justin Turner was an excellent course. He is a very good teacher and gives you all of the tools that you need to succeed.
The professor does a great job at making sure the students learn the material. I won't lie the work is a bit hard but if you attend the lectures take notes and take the time to understand the material its not too bad.
Prof. Turner was honestly a gift. He gives the fastest responses and is always ready to help in and out side of the classroom. Attendence was not mandatory but very worthwhile. He's a very kind person and was definitely a large factor of my success. Class has a lot of homework and was pretty difficult but I would be happy to do it again.
I took his College Algebra course last summer and he helped bring back my love for math. I will gladly take as many of his courses as possible. He's very clear with his expectations, he allows extra credit, and he's PHENOMENAL at teaching. I'd recommend him to everyone.
He genuinely cares for your success and doesn't ask much in return. Attendance and participation are optional, and he will send you what got discussed in class if you miss a day, but lectures are really beneficial to attend, and he's ready to answer questions or demo anything anytime. If you try and honestly do the homework, you'll get a good grade
genuinely cares about u learning the material, and will make sure u dont worry about ur grade. if u do all that is asked u WILL make an A. responds super quickly to emails and is always available for help.
This professor is truly outstanding. If there's ever something you don't understand, need extra help with, or if you're dealing with a personal situation, don't hesitate to reach out, he's incredibly understanding, respectful, and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He'll match the effort you put in and go above and beyond to support you.
Amazing Professor, easy to reach after class hours.
He cares about his students
Professor Turner is the best teacher I've had so far. He cares about his students, wants everyone to do well, and is willing to help with anything. He has problem-specific videos for every homework and exam and is very thorough in his teaching. He is super understanding and patient and I'd love to have him again.
Statistics is hard but Mr Turner's class is set up for success, if you do the homework and go to lecture, and do the practice tests, you will do fine.
Really great class. Always available to help you out if needed. Works with you if something comes up. Very nice and welcoming, gives lots of reminders as well. Though his lectures may be slightly fast paced sometimes as long as you raise your hand to ask a question he will gladly answer it for you which helped me.
This professor is awesome. He cares so much about making sure everyone does well, and is always available to talk to, ask questions about material, or discuss accommodations.
You're expected to read textbook on your own, he mostly does just examples in lecture. Ngl though, I never read it and still got an A+, but I'm also good at math. Exams are short w/ like 20 extra cred pts. Hw is rlly time-consuming. It gets harder halfway through, but he's very helpful and understanding. Overall manageable if you put in the work.
A wealth of material is available for learning, but to attain the necessary knowledge to complete the egregious amount of homework given, a very unrealistic amount of time dedication is necessary. Expect to go well beyond the intended time allocation for this class by an almost laughable amount.
Mr. Turner is a phenomenal professor. I took him for discrete mathematics, and he was extremely helpful. He always wanted to give students everything they needed for the test, is consistent with his promises on test structure, and grades very kindly. Could not recommend him more, he makes difficult subjects very manageable.
Mr. Turner is very kind and caring and may seem a little hard to understand at first, but if you follow along from the chapters in the textbook, then it gets easier to understand and he's very accommodating so if you have any questions, he goes through in detail and explains with no hesitation.
He is a very fair teacher. His class is difficult, but he makes it easier to understand. If you go to class and do the homework, you'll find his class simple and will likely end with an A.
Professor Turner is always available and quick to respond, offering detailed help whenever needed or revisit material needed. Whether it's through office hours, email, or after class, they're dedicated to student success. Their willingness to go above and beyond makes them incredibly supportive and creates a positive, helpful learning environment.
Doing the practice problems in the textbook are time-consuming, but it's definitely worth it! As long as you use the textbook, ask questions and keep up with the homework assignments, you should pass the class. However, I will note that he goes somewhat fast while doing lectures. Oh, and he does reply to emails quickly. He also uploads solutions.
