Tardy!
Has trouble keeping control of the class, then gets angry/difficult to follow
first rate!
brilliant and engaging, helpful, organized - simply amazing
even if you know nothing&have no opinion you'll do well
this was a great class... I absolutely adored it.
A few problems with her being late, etc, but a good prof, and hot too!

very unclear, never gets a point across. always late to class. not very engaging.
fabulous prof. makes getting the A+ an attainable goal. she's a very enjoyable, real, friendly person.
Always late, never clear, never has control of class discussions, engages in 1 on 1 conversations that the rest of class can't even hear.
great prof, lectures are interesting and really make you think.
Avoid this - it's terrible.
Great teacher, Made Philosophy as interesting as the subect can be- easy marker
Wonderful person, and very inspirational being a female student. Really gets you thinking about how philosophy can assist one in all aspects of life. Seems as though philosophy is more than just an academic pursuit for her, refreshing!
An excellent first-year teacher, not intimidating at all. She really makes starting out in Philosophy a good experience rather than a rough one. Far too easy marker, though.
Justine was an awesome teacher, very knowledgable and covered all course amterial effectively. Enjoyed her class so much and really enjoyed all calss discussions. Truly an excellent teacher and course worth taking.
Very intelligent, passionate woman. She obviously loves what she teaches, which makes it easier for her students to really get into the class.
Very much enjoyed the discussions had in class. She maintains an open mind and will listen to the students.
Justine kicks ass, she made me like philosophy, and the class was very interesting

She is always late, but more than makes up for this by making the material intresting and by accepting the validity of personal opinions. Thanks Justine
so awesome; if you can voice your opinion you'll get an A+! its refreshing to have a prof walk in just as late as you are;)
She's the best professor I have had. Beautiful, and Intelligent. Can't ask for more. She has truly touched my heart
Justine is great. Just take notes when shes talking and youll do fine on the tests, which are only out of 15, by the way.

If you want an easy A take her class!!! Plus she is a very sweet, very laid back person. I found phill wasnt really for me, but dispite my lack of interest for the subject I didnt mind going to her class at all.
Ok, Justine is quite possibly the easiest teacher in the world. I got an A- in the class and I never went except for the first two clases, studied for an hour before the tests and still got the mark. Easiest teacher. Subject is easy anywayz...
Curt and abrasive. Could've stayed home and still passed the class.
JUST AWSOME, we had great disscussions and she was very open about her own experiences, your great justine
Curt but knowledgable. ****!

I think I showed up more time than she did and she will waste a full lecture repeating her last class. But if you want an easy A+, she's the one.
I'd like more focus on the difficult concepts.
Fairly easy classes for those who don't want to put effort in, and for those who do, Justine is great as well. Encourages in-class discussion and argues the other side to get you to think about your opinions. Lots of fun and willing to help. ^_^
an A is in the bag as long as you read the book. she tells you exactly what will be on a test and they are easy and short. in class discussions are most interesting and justine makes philosophy come to life. a must take prof!
Can we say *HOT*? I want to take all her classes! Justine is very personable and approachable. One of my friends took her class last year and got an A, so it must be easy.
Very fair teacher. No tricks, very honest and clear about what she wants out of her students. Encourages discussion and accomodates different viewpoints.
Justine is passionate about what she teaches, She cares a lot about her students and is a very positive person. Great class
If you're at all interested in philosophy, take this class! And even if you aren't, take it for the professor. She is awesome and a total looker! You'll get out of this class as much as you put in-it's basically up to you. Justine manages to explain things simply without talking down to students.
I really enjoyed Justine's class. I found the content very interesting and i thought she kept it humorous too! If you read the material you will do well, the tests are all short essay questions and she marks quite easily. Definatley take it!
HAAAAAAAAAAT! DAMN!! got an A+ but it was hard cause I kept staring at her
horible lectures and seminars easy test students are telling her to stop having side conversations and teach
Yeah, whoever said she's a good prof probably didn't take her class. never have a i had a teacher so focused on teaching one student in the front row before, with horrible lectures and the tests are simple but some of it i didn't even find in my notes.
Was told that Justine was amazing, but I'm sorry that I took her class. Unorganised, horrible lectures. Cancels half the classes anyway. Took phil 100 with Megan Shelstad, if you want a passionate philosophy teacher, take HER class. Justine is only there for the money. Can tell she hates her job.
I took several classes with Justine and found her to be funny, sarcastic, and interesting. She has a cool way of getting the class to think for themselves and discuss reality. As my first philosophy teacher I will always love her... but several friends were disappointed in her lately (Phil 110).
MAN OH MAN what a smart, passionate and captivating teacher. It is unfortunate that she was stuck with so many ungreatful imature students this semester. Despite their efforts to disrupt the class Justine still delivered a compelling and informative class to those who were willing to listen.
Despite the effort of a few aspiring philosophers to teach the class themselves through personal anectodes, this class was still a waste of time. Justine is great one-on-one and in seminar, but the bottom line is she is disorganized, incompetent, and not as hot as everyone says. Easy class though.
Justine is a great teacher! Her classes are very interesting, she is a very smart woman. Anyone that has anything bad to say about her is bitter that they did bad on a test that was so easy to get an A on if you took proper notes. To top it off she is a hottie!
Justine made this class worthwhile. I had Bannikoff for 110 and it was so bad i almost considered ending my philosopher career. Justine stimulated and provoked discussion and was always interested in hearing people's views. Her tests were very easy as long as one took a small amount of notes. Very worthwhile teacher!
Awesome class! Justine is the best prof I have had so far - smart, interesting, and fair.
The only consolation for taking this class with her is that she doesn't want to be there any more than you do. Lots of cancelled classes, useless seminars and unenthusiastic lectures. At least her tests are easy!
Misses many classes and is always sick all the time. Not helpful at all. She is only there for the money. What a waste of time.
Justine is the best philosophy teacher at camosun. She is layed back, and very knowledgable in her area. Shes fun, shes got style, and i'd definitly take her class again. I wouldnt ask a crim student for their opinion, cuz i dont think they are really into the philosophy thing to start with. Rock on Justine.
Knowledgeable, passionate, rational and dayum she's fine. Relates well to students. Some occasional absences but whatever, who really wants to be there anyway...? Phil students, IMO she is the best prof you will find at Camosun. And I hate school.
Not a bad teacher. Not the most charasmatic teaching style, and doesn't seem entirely enthusiatic. That said though, she is friendly, clear, and presents the material in a logical and understandable fashion. I would not hesistate to take another course with her.
Easy to get good marks for this course. However, not the most interesting philosophy course.
Justine is a great teacher. This class is very interesting, however - Justine will only teach you as much as you want to learn, - if you dont participate and ask questions - then you may find that you dont get a lot out of the class, however; if you do take part justine is ready to anwser and consider many questions - she really does know her stuf
Justine is a mediocre prof at best. She plays favorites and lets the same three people speak over and over again. I paid to hear her teach, not some idiots who are trying to "find themselves" and think they firgured out the meaning of life and now have the uncontrollable urge to share it with the rest of the world. FYI-No one cares! AVOID AVOID!!
Justine sux!
Lectures can be dry, but knows her stuff. When discussion does get flowing, it can be a lot of fun. Three tests, all easy to get an A on.. just attend lectures, and follow study guides at test time, and you'll be fine. Easy to approach for help. Good response time with feedback, tests, emails. Good prof, esp. if you're not experienced with PHIL.
good teacher, nice to look at :) good material, open ended class discussions. enjoy.
I don't really know what to say about Justine. I've taken two courses from her and they have been incredibly easy...too easy. I almost feel like I didn't learn much, but maybe that was the course material? She's an easy marker and a slack teacher in general. I would take her over Bannikoff, but i recommend Karen Shirley.
This class is for a GPA boost.. no more. If you are looking for enlightenment... search elsewhere. But it isn't that painful. Just get'er done! and then roll around on that A+. Oh and be there class before a test... you'll get the test.. and that A+.
Justine is a great person to have teaching but the material is so boring and pretty hard if you dont like the subject of phil. I dont think i'll take another phil class ever in my life again
Justine is a really nice teacher and does know her stuff; however, the course is extreamly easy as long as you show up to take notes and study for a few hours before the test (you should end up with an A+). If you're looking for some eye-opening philosophy duscussions, you won't find them here.

Justine clearly knows her stuff. She is very knowledgeable in her subject. Classes can be a bit boring at times, but some of that is just because it's an Intro to PHIL class. If she could spice classes up a little, maybe some activities, she'd be awesome. But she's a fair marker. Don't ramble. Get to the point. Easy class to do well in.
shes really easy and basically you dont have to buy the textbook to get an A+. Just write down whatever she saids. If you like desperate housewives, then you will justine noel. She looks like nicolette sheridian, but with midwestern accent. :P
Ya we know that she is easy enough on the eyes but I am not rating looks. I am taking my third class with her and overall I am impressed. I am a bit of a slacker at times and my marks reflect that, however you will get a good mark if you go to clas, study and participate. Give 100% and so will she.
Wonderful teacher, very personable and easy going which makes classes a pleasure to go to!!
Interesting, funny, patient and cool lady. Love her, she makes subject matter clear and makes it easy to take notes. If you are sick, don't email homework, she won't accept it. So nice and funny in a sarcastic way.

well... we just had our second test, and one of the questions was to give an example of an analogy... a week later, she decides to teach us analogys... does anyone else see a problem with that?? like seriously!
I found Justine a really nice lady. She's a great teacher to take Philosophy with if you have never taken it before. She is very clear about what is going to be on the tests and she is easy to understand. A very pretty lady as well!
You'd be foolish not to take a class with Justine. She's cool, very cool.
easy going, explains things clearly, lets u be
I found her to be rude and condesending. She makes it plain who she doesn't like.
Even though she seems a little disinterested in teaching (also might have to do with class's lack of interest though), she does a great job of explaining the material. I found it really helpful how she'd say what possible criticisms of the ideas philosophers.
She does show who she doesn`t like but usually the whole class doesn`t like those people. Encourages discussion and easy to talk to. Great teacher, take her classes.
Logic and critical thinking is a pretty boring class to take, but probably the most worthwhile class to have. Should be required for just about everything. Justine does a pretty good job making it interesting, and if you show up to classes and can do 10 minutes of homework a week, you'll get an A
Hopeless, first part of course well lectured but falls apart as you progress to more complicated and scientific theories. Pre-occuppied with science fiction rather than good thinking. Sloppy reasoning. Disintrested in seminar, very boring yet part of grade. Comments on essay (A paper) not related to subject at hand. Overall needs to go back to scho

I have to say Justine has checked out. the effort she puts into her class is clearly minimal. grades on essays are done through some convoluted number system, that obviously minimizes her work load. the final contained questions on material never discussed. there are better and more engaging teachers at camosun fro philosophy.
Simply uninterested in teaching, at least in logic and critical thinking. Not the most interesting course but I'm sure she could have put more effort into it. A lot of kids struggled and there was nothing they really could have done to get back on track. She stormed out on class once and we lost valuable lecturing time.
Justine is an awesome teacher. A lot of people dislike her because they feel she appears bored in class. If you are genuinely interested in Phil, take her class. If you put in the effort, she does too. She is open-minded and she loves to talk phil with her students. She is not condescending; something that is hard to find in a philosophy prof.
Spent basically the entire class discussing issues that were off topic. All the info required for tests are in her very rare and condensed notes and from the readings. I barely payed attention and got an A+. She preps you very well for tests. Seminars were interesting and engaging. Easy marks there. I'd take her again based on the easy marks.
I always found Justine helpful and clear. Do the reading and you will have no problems with the exams.
Very easy prof. She's very educated, but not the best at conveying that. No papers, easy exams and quizzes...can't complain one bit!
Justine was a fine prof. The course was all right, a little dry towards the end. Quiz's are fair and the test material is given ahead of time so you can prepare. Discussion marks as always are a crap-shoot. Tough to get great marks if you don't talk a lot. Those that did, get good marks, even if what they say is nonsense.
She's really nice and easy to be around. Seems very non-judgmental. Her class is easy and actually enjoyable. I don't like speaking in front of people though and there was a lot of that in the lecture portions. Also, she looks like Sarah Palin.
I took two classes with Justine. She is super nice and helpful. She treats peoples ideas with respect and is very passionate about the material. It seems she is just tired of students who don't care. If you do the reading you are set! Easy A's just participate and you are good to go.
A fun class to go to, however not necessary to attend every week as long as you keep up with the readings and attend discussion classes. Great lady, super approachable if you have any questions, all in all fun class
Her teaching method was dry and straight out of the textbook;which was a first addition of her choice, expensive and poorly written. Lectures were not very engaging and seminars were mainly focused on student participation. You could tell that Justine wasn't passionate about teaching Philosophy of Mind, which is otherwise an interesting subject.
Justine is great! Her classes are interesting and involving There are no assignments, grade is based on class participation and test scores. Study the test guidelines and read the textbook and you can easily get an A+.
Justine is a nice lady, who clearly knows what she is talking about. This is an easy A+ with not too much effort. No assignments just tests and 10% participation. It did sometimes feel as though she was tired of being there, as we hardly actually did any class discussions, even during our seminar time. Material interesting, she is easy to understand
I really enjoyed her class. Write down what notes she does give - there aren't a lot, but they are helpful for tests. (Even anything she says during exam reviews!) Also use the textbook! She is very respectful and encourages thinking for yourself. I never got the impression she didn't enjoy Philosophy. Would love to have her again! I learned a lot!
Justine is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She really knows her subject and class discussions were interesting. The tests in this course were hard but fair. I highly recommend her!
great teacher, makes the class interesting and easy to fallow along too. not a lot of homework which is nice, and she looks good while she teaches yumm
Awful awful awful awful.
Really interesting course and excellent instructor.
She leant me her textbook and let me rewrite one test, but I kind of got the feeling that she always wanted to leave for a smoke or something. I found her cold personality to be somewhat discouraging and I don't think she cared if I passed or not...Where's the love?
Justine is one of the best profs I have ever had at Camosun. Her lectures are super organized, fun and interesting. I learned alot from her and feel like I did come out of this course a better thinker.
Good teacher (not outstanding), easy class. Very straight forward. I skipped roughly around 90% of class and passed with an A.
Justine is one of the best profs at Camosun! Really nice, very clear in class (explains everything well) and makes philosophy really interesting! Plus her tests are really fair/easy if you show up to class and do your reading. Awesome class, take it with her! She is really chill, and a great teacher/nice person.
Very sweet and kind woman. Outlines everything you need to know about the upcoming exams. Asks interesting questions to the class.
Justine is probably the best teacher I have had at Camosun. Her classes are always fun and interesting and she makes it super clear what she expects from students. She is also very approachable.
Horrible experience, Avoid!
Justine is so funny once you get her talking She''s a little quiet in class but she''s easy to understand and will explain things however many time you need them explained... I hate that people mistake her demeanor as bored. She has a doctorate in philosophy She''s definitely NOT disinterested Easy class if you do the readings. And a fair marker
Justine is a great teacher. Her classes are very clear and informative. She really elaborates on the notes, but as long as you show up for seminars and get the test outlines and study for them, you'll get an easy A. Highly recommend for an interesting and easy class!
Justine was a great prof, I like philosophy but when I am taking up to four other classes I just need a class I can show up to and get a good grade. I found the class quite easy and got an A- despite being a cramming on the bus type studier.
Justine is my favourite teacher at Camosun. This is a super interesting class but be warned the exams are hard - she's a fair marker though. There's also quite a bit of reading.
If you are looking for an easy class to coast through, Justine's class may not be the one for you. If you are looking to expand your knowledge and thinking and have thoughts that cause you to question your beliefs and ideas then this is the one! Justine is a wonderful teacher that clearly loves to teach, she is humorous and very approachable.
Justine is a great teacher. The seminars are mandatory for attendance marks. She gives a test outline that is EXACTLY what you need to know for the test and she goes over the outline in class. Her notes are thorough and tell you everything you need to know. Tests are easy if you review. Very nice person and very engaging.
I go an A-, skiped many classes. Tests are easy.
Justine Noel is a reasonable, down to earth Prof!! I enjoyed the class and teaching style. Test outlines are provided which is helpful as there can be a lot expected of you to know. She is very engaging. Yeah, she is a good prof so I'd recommend.
Took her eastern religion and logic and critical thinking, both great classes, very interesting and have probably been my favourite classes I have taken at university so far.
Justine is really reserved, but underneath that, she actually really funny, and sweet, and polite. She'll consider anyone's opinion, no matter how different from her own views. She's a reasonable marker, and if you've done your readings, you'll pass her tests easily. Really a joy to learn from. I wish more teachers were like Justine. :)
Justine is such a nice person. She's really quiet, but she has a great sense of humour. (Maybe even an absurd sense of humour...) She is happy to clarify questions, and makes a point of engaging students during seminars. She's also very understanding of real life issues interfering with school. And the workload is always reasonable. Five star prof.
Justine's promotes grasping philosophical concepts both in classroom and in seminar dialogues, where students get to express different opinions and challenge each others preconceptions about consciousness and reality. When trying to articulate a difficult concept, she parrots your idea back to you the you wish you had said it. Top prof at Camosun.
Just so awesome! You learn lots but it isn't hard. She's so sweet and knowledgeable about what she's teaching. Will absolutely take another class with her!
Nice, interesting classes! She's super knowledgeable and engaging. Only thing is she can take up to 3 weeks to grade exams which drives me crazy but other wise I really enjoy her as a prof.
Interesting material, clear instruction, and she's funny too! Would take more with Justine for sure.
She is very nice but is an extremely difficult marker, which makes half the class fail each unit test. She won't give you a mark unless you word the answer exactly how she would word it. I didn't like the seminars because we had to move the tables and chairs to make a sharing circle and go around talking about our thoughts. Would not take her again
I really enjoy Justine's class. Prepare for a bunch of tests though. Lectures are easy to understand and participation really matters in this class. There are weekly seminar assignments that require you to be present, so if you skip then you won't pass.
I absolutely love Justine! Favourite prof by far. She is interesting, passionate about philosophy, knowledgable, and a caring person. Listen in class, show up to seminar and study for tests and you're golden.
First of all, she always has the nicest clothes and I always end up asking where she got her shoes. But Justine is such a knowledgable prof and is SUPER clear about what you'll be tested on! However, her notes on D2L aren't great so if you miss lectures you miss important content. Seminars were relaxing (and I hate speaking in front of others)
Justine is by far the best teacher I have had. She tells you exactly what is on exams so there are no surprises. Do the readings and try your best to have something to contribute to conversations in class. She is passionate and fair and hilarious once you get to know her. TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
Justine is calm, wise, and wants more than anything to hear what you have to say. The discussion is where the wealth is. A solid course with a broad look at some of the minds that plodded along this hunk of rock before us.
Justine is truly an angel. You can tell she cares about her students and she's so passionate about her subject. She tells you exactly what you need to know for every exam and she doesn't try to trick you. put some effort in it's an easy A+. I've taken three courses with her and I've gotten over 95% every time. TAKE CLASSES WITH JUSTINE!!!
Take her classes!! Honestly one of the best professors i've ever had. She is very passionate about philosophy and it shows. Show up to class and put in the effort and you will get an A.
Justine was a great prof and really sparked a passion for philosophy in me that echoes throughout my life to this day. I actually was in her classes back in 2004-2006, but I still remember her great classes fondly and wanted to finally give her the kudos she deserves. Great prof, cool person, and I met my wife of 10 years in her class. Keep at it!
Justine is great; she is very clear in her lectures, posts all of the content used in her lectures on D2L, shes available after class and is genuinely a very caring person. Her tests are easy if you use the review sheets to study and as long as you show up for the seminar and participate you will do fine in her classes.
Show up and listen, and you'll have no problems passing this course. The seminars are really valuable as they solidify the teachings through group discussion. Justine is very approachable and really seems to care for her students. I really enjoyed this class.
Justine is a great teacher. If you enjoy classes that encourage participation and are willing to show up to seminar and lectures, you'll have no trouble acing this course.
Justine is an amazing professor. She is very clear with her expectations and you will do well as long as you follow them. Course wise, you are expected to attend and showing up will help you pass! Tests are very straight forward which follows the study guide. As a teacher, she is very inspirational, funny, and honestly one of the best I have had!
Justine is one of the best professors I have ever had. If you put in the time and effort, she will 100% reward you. Her tests are not meant to be tricks, they are meant to test your understanding and you will EASILY pass if you take notes. Never used my textbook, its all online basically
Justine was so interesting, funny and knowledgable that after the course I ended up switching programs to philosophy. She is the chair of the Philosophy Department and rightfully so. She was an absolute joy and I can't wait to take more courses with her. Bravo!
Justine is amazing & caring! Her explanation is always so thorough. If you stumble upon some philosophical theories that you can't just wrap your head around, go visit her office! She was always willing to go over them with me :) Her tests are always straightforward, there's no trick question, so if you put some effort into it, you'll get an A
Her 290 was Stoicism in winter 2018, and if you are interested in it, I highly recommend to take it! Justine is one of my favorite teachers at Camosun. More that half of the students took her PHIL100 before, and they CHOSE to come back, so I think that says a lot. Homework every week, but they are like mental practice, and I totally enjoyed them :)
Gave great lectures. Was approachable outside of class time. Really made sure you understood the materials. All around great professor, would highly recommend.
Justine was an awesome prof, I've thought about changing my major thanks to her. Halfway through the semester, I was depressed and she gave me the opportunity to resubmit a number of my seminar assignments. She cares about your success and makes the work enjoyable. I found myself listening to podcasts in my spare time.
Very accommodating and spends time going over lecture material in a way that is both accessible and interesting. I would not recommend Justine if you have an aversion to group activities, as her classes are mostly group discussions. Her "exams" are base level and easy to pass if you read the material at least once. Reading material not mandatory
Amazing human! Show up, put in effort, and she will reward you.
It was because of Justine that I ended up majoring in Philosophy at U Vic. Shes still the best Philosophy prof I ever had!
