She is a HARD professor! Like the other comment said, she does not care if you have questions or need clarification. She literally just reads the powerpoint at you during lecture. Exams are tricky, and are not on what she says they will be on.
She doesnt teach at all. Don't go to lecture unless you want to hear someone reading the lectures to you. The exams are not that bad as long as you memorize the power points you will get a B. I dont know where her other questions come from. Study for extra credit quizes for 10 points to the exams.
Everyone knows that anatomy is not the easiest class, but it should not be this hard! I spent my entire summer on this and could barely pull a B. She is hard to understand so sit in the front. Slides are ridiculous but you don't need the book. All I can say is good luck.
To get an A, you need above 94.5% . She's hard to understand, not just b/c of her accent but also she doesn't speak loud enough. I think she knows the material well, but she just do not know how to teach! She just reads slides word to word. Some of the exam questions are not from lecture slides.
Class is difficult, you will have to work for a good grade, but is very doable. A&P is not supposed to be easy. That lecture hall is not good for her to teach in - ceilings too high & front doors open, it is extremely difficult to hear her even with the microphone - the sound is diluted. Her slides are great - I only study them and will get an A-
All you have to do is memorize the slides and you'll get a B on the exams. Always go through the powerpoints so you can be ready for extra credit quizes. If you want to learn don't take this class.
This is her first time teaching and she knows the material well and she was very nervous teaching in the beginning of the semester and she has gotten better. She read off slides word by word and her exams are not easy. They're conceptual which means you have to appply what you memorized. If you're not willing to study then forget about taking her.
SHE IS HARD.
I did well in this class. Don't just read the slides. You have to read the book. A&P isn't supposed to be easy but it's not impossible to do well. She's nice even though she doesn't appear to be at time. She explains things well on a one to one basis.
My advice is write everything out. type up your notes from class and what you read in the text. so they go hand in hand. Everything is in front of you, rather than flipping through pages in your book constantly.
She seems like she knows her stuff, however she SUCKS as a professor. NEVER EVER listen to her when she says focus on those slides because you will absolutly fail. She is not helpful. take this course at another college
She is not a good professor at teaching the material. She just reads directly from the powerpoints. However, her tests are easy to pass if you study the powerpoint slides directly and do not waste time on the book. She tells you what you need to know exactly for her exams.
The subject is already difficult and she doesn't make it any easier. The lab is easy but the lab exams are difficult. Lecture exams are not straight forward. you have to apple the information. She reads the slides to you. Don't go to lecture just print the slides and read the book. Pretty difficult to get an A but a B is doable.
does anyone know if she curves in the end?
If you take this course at any university you should expect that it will be difficult. The professor speaks with an accent, and it is often unclear. If you read the book and focus on her slides, AS SHE ADVISES YOU TO, then you'll notice the quizzes and exams are verbatim from her slides, as long as you prepare & know this material it's fairly easy.
Seems very nice, but she has an Indian accent and the most monotone voice I've ever heard. She doesn't use good inflection when she speaks. In my opinion, she speaks in grammatically incorrect sentences. Re-listening to her lectures online makes me want to cry. Although I'm sure she's very smart and knows the material well, I wouldn't recommend.
Loved and learned A&P. Others reviews are correct regarding the accent, but all other teaching traits make u for this issue.
She is very helpful when the student is willing to give his/her best. I started with the course with not so good grade but with her guidance regarding study strategy, managed to earn overall B+. I will recommend her without doubt.
She was OK but hard to understand. Do well in the beginning because it starts out easy but gets way harder towards the end. The final is worth 50 percent of your grade. there are also 4 extra credit quizzes which did end up helping overall. Go to SI, the practice exams will save your life- many of the qs are the same as on her exam. READ THE BOOK
I had this professor for the 2nd time. Her style absolutely works for me. I earned "A" on Anatomy Physiology and "A-" on Cell Bio. The bonus quizzes are a great help to boost ones grade. I plan on taking more courses with her.
The course started easy but got really hard towards the end. I used the office hours to max for reviewing the concepts with Dr Nautiyal. She was extremely helpful through out the semester. I ended up getting B+ overall.
I am loving A&P with Dr N. I dropped the class last semester due to professor and personal reasons. This semester is going good so far. With 30 points bonus quizzes I am very hopeful of getting at least A-. I intend to use office hours frequently.
she owns her accent is completely gone she's the greatest teacher ever i got a 102% on the first exam!!!!!!!!!!
Notes are disorganized, full of typos and shorthand. Drones on during lecture without much interaction. She does bonus quizzes which help a lot, but is very anal-retentive about the exams. Goes over it once in class and then you must go to office hours to ask questions. Oh, and don't try to argue about a test question... you won't win.
Her class was easy. Gave a lot of extra credit but since people were doing really well she made an A worth more but never told us what it was. She is very monotone and boring. I don't think she knows the material well and she just reads off the slides.
By far the worst Biology professor ever. I don't know what happened to this department, since they used to have amazing teachers. She is a disgrace. Her notes are long and horrible. Make sure you memorize the book and notes to get an A on her exam. BTW the A range depends on how the class does. Don't count on her telling you what it is.
She has a very strong accent, which you can not understand. She is useless and does not explain anything properly. She hates answering questions. Her powerpoint slides are not detailed to understand.
Please, steer clear of this professor. You will not be able to understand her and make sure to memorize the whole entire book to get a good grade on her tests, her powerpoints are useless and I regret taking this class, there are other better professors that will help explain this subject a lot better than her.
I HATE THIS PROF. COMPLETELY USELESS AND RUDE. I EMAILED HER ABOUT A FEW A QUESTIONS, AND SHE SIMPLY REPLIED BY SAYING GO OVER THE FORMAT OF HOW TO WRITE AN EMAIL,INORDER FOR ME TO REPLY YOU. WHAT IS THAT EVEN SUPPOSE TO MEAN ? THIS CLASS WAS SUPER HARD, HER PPW SLIDES ARE NOT DETAILED,SO U HAVE TO LEARN ON YOUR OWN.
I will give u an honest rating. She is very boring/monotone.She curves but its almost negligible(like 3 points). She gave us a very hard test becuz our avg. for the test be4 was high. This class is overwhelming by nature, but she makes it harder. She has the worst powerpoints, its filled w/long sentences and 100+ slides, she doesnt condense the info
Do yourself a favor and just take another professor. If you're like me and actually need to have a good professor in order to understand the material, then she is not for you. Study her lecture notes. That's all I did.
Ive had bad profs before, but this one hands down is the most awful one I have ever had. A&P is already a tough course, but she makes it unnecessarily difficult. She WANTS her students to do poorly and just reads her slides in class as if we cant read them ourselves. No explanation whatsoever. They need to can her asap. Take someone else if you can
Her accent is horrible. Get the book because she wants you to memorize all of it. Shes the wot teacher I have ever had.
I'm studying for the final and don't even know where to begin. Her exam questions are completely random. Memorize everything because that is the only way to pass this class.
Be prepared to teach yourself most of the information from this course. I read every chapter of the book to try to understand what we needed to know. She is not very approachable or helpful in teaching you the information. The class is manageable, but be prepared to study a ton.
This class is naturally difficult. However, you might as well teach it to yourself with this prof. She is very difficult to understand, mainly read from her jumbled slides, and she generally had a condescending and rude attitude. She gave quizzes for extra credit, which was helpful. Still, this will probably be my first B at WSU :(
The worst professor I've ever had. She barely explains anything, her lectures are very general while her exams are very specific. It's not difficult to get a good grade if you read the book but it's impossible to catch up if you fall behind because there's so much material. I would not recommend taking any class with her. Do yourself a favor.
Jyoti was awful, but her T.A. Rashmi was even worse. At least with Jyoti, you can learn from the book. She's completely useless. Her lecture slides don't completely make since. She literally just follows the book with less detail so it's confusing. The lab t.a. taught from her head. NOT THE LAB MANUAL OR PRACTICAL LIST.
The worst instructor ever, If someones wants to ruin his or her career should be more than welcome to register for her class. She is absolutely useless instructor who will bring Wayne State University reputataion down the drain esp in courses like A&P. She has a serious attitude problem, and never replies to your emails.
Not a very helpful teacher because she just reads off the slide in her strong monotone accent. Tests are ridiculously hard, but she makes the final easier to make up for it and gives a good chunk of extra credit over the course of the semester. A very time consuming class if you plan on doing well.
Bad professor: enjoyed the challenge. I received an 89 at the end of the term. May I remind you that this was after spending more than 45 hours a week studying the materials. I found that rewriting the chapters, creating a "booklet" out of them, and reviewing them everyday helped. You better remember every SINGLE diagram: word for word on the test.
This class isn't as bad as every one says. Yes, you do have to devote a considerable amount of time to memorizing everything but the professor is very straight forward. She tells you what diagrams to focus on. She even tells you what to study for her class. Also, she offered nearly 40 extra credit points.
By far the worst bio teacher ever. Very monotone and BORING she doesnt give clear details and never goes over the big concepts. I earned an A from memorizing the book and I do not remember a single clear explanation to any topic from her mouth. The material is a whole lot easier than she makes it sound. But she does offer extra credit.
She is HARD but the material isn't that bad. She gives extra credit points for attending lecture and curves her exams. Everything on the exam has been covered in the slides, so you can study directly from the slides, and she will tell you if you need to study something in detail. She is very approachable after class or during office hours.
Tough cookie man. I bombed the 1st exam & started doing considerably better when I started to live &breathe the material. 4pted it. It's possible. Learned so much in this class. Ridic. She tries to help but she can be frustrating, esp with her questions. She sometimes seems unfair but she makes up for it in Extra Credit etc. Good class but beware.
She speaks quietly in a monotone voice so it's really difficult to understand what she says. Almost every lecture she's spent 20 minutes talking about emails. Clicker points are taken when she notices most people are not there. Exams are ridiculously difficult since she's changed the format of them in the middle of the semester. Avoid her.
WORST TEACHER EVER. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Exams are ridiculously hard, monotone accent, never goes into detail, talks mainly bout concepts that won't even be referenced on the test. She gives extra credit but ONLY when she notices no one is in class. Be sure to get to class on time, or she'll give extra credit in the 5 minutes where people are late.
Terrible teacher & impossible to understand. She wants you to attend class for a chance at 3% of extra credit, but it hinders your learning because you don't know what she's saying. EXAMS ARE IMPOSSIBLE! Each question goes over the minute details and nothing about the concepts.
I had Jyoti for Bio-1510, earned "A-". Her bonus quizzes are big help in exam preparation and overall grade. I am back in her class, Bio-2870, this semester.
Dr Nautiyal repeats her expectations many times and make sure students accept and work on this challenging course. Her style works very well for me. I had her for Bio-1510 in Fall-2011, Bio-2870 in S/S-2012 and am waiting for Bio-5640 in Fall-2013. This says all.
Just read the textbook and hope for a miracle, very monotone and boring and her slides have nothing to do with the test. Gives hints for like 10 of the 60 test questions. Go to class for bonus clicker questions. Other than that you're on your own.
This is my first class at WSU.I just took the 1st exam on Tuesday. I am so happy with the questions. I followed her instructions, most emphasis on slides and read textbook once in detail. I am expecting nothing less than A- on this exam.
I heard a lot about this class being a challenge. So far I am doing well on both lectures and labs. I am following study tips I have been getting from Jyoti and I try to use many office hours. Attending classes is preparing me better for exam and bonus clickers questions are added incentive. I am going to ace mid-term-1 in few days.
Her voice is the most monotonous voice you will ever hear. The class is easy and there is a good amount of extra credit. The only problem is you probably won't stay awake
I took A&P with Dr N. It was a challenge but she made it manageable. I also had the so-called question bank. None of the exams were written from this bank. However the bank was helpful in studying. I earned A- and am taking Cell Bio with her this semester. If you are not willing work hard, you wont pass the course with Jyoti.
Worst teacher I ever had. Impossible to understand & completely monotone. Doesn't give you exams back to see what you did wrong. Goes over 100 slides in an hour, she doesn't teach she just reads
Not as bad as people make her out to be. I got A's on the practicals and lecture exams. memorize her slides and go to class for the bonus points. nvr read the book
Failed to answer student questions and difficult to understand. No way to review your tests at all if you had classes during her office hours. Tests had material that wasn't covered thoroughly in class or in the book. I had to switch to Genetics after finding out she was teaching Anatomy, I could not stand to have her again after Cell Bio.
Honestly, worst professor I have ever had! She is useless to your success. Try & get most of lab and clicker points, read her slides & use the textbook to clear things up, YouTube helps too. She has a way of killing an interesting subject, doesn't use examples, or give exams back. She has one key for exam revision, & will kick students out. AVOID!
My apologies to anyone taking this course. Highlights of this class: clicker points (basically a small bit of ec that she limits even if you get fair amount) Lows: Powerpoint reader teacher, accent, does not hand back exams or post, exams are poorly worded and difficult, she generally does not have a good personality to deal with. Good luck!
I have no idea why everyone is complaining about this teacher. She is very simple. Attend class, read book, study ahead of time, and you'll be successful in her class.. People just want the easy way out. She even gives extra credit. The class and lab were overall interesting. She doesn't have a strong accent either. STOP COMPLAINING!
I hate this woman so much. She is a TERRIBLE professor. Monotone low voice, reads straight from her useless PowerPoint slides. Only good thing is she gives iClicker points, which are extra credit. It's possible to get an A out of this class but you're on your own, so don't even think about relying on her. Study ahead of time and you'll be fine.
It is true that she repeats her expectations, but problem is they are unrealistic. The amount of material covered is insane, yet her exam questions are etremely difficult. You can study a lot and still fail. She S the one who needs to wake up. I like the clicker points and that she is a nice person if you have questions in her office.
She's the only option for A&P, unfortunately. Pros: she gives clicker questions for extra credit, the class has a lab section, and she curves generously--all of which make it possible to get an A, albiet dying in the process. Cons: monotone, reads (not explains) PPT slides, and is somewhat rude if you try to ask questions, test questions are vague
For our course she had obscene expectations of the students. We had to know everything about everything! I can't even begin to explain how much I learned. Albeit, I piece of me died. If you can avoid taking her, I would say go for it. However, If you want to learn more than you will ever care to use, then take her. She is tough, tough, tough!
She is a horrible teacher. She reads with her horrible accent and she shouldn't even be teaching! She can't even speak clearly or loudly. She doesn't care about how you do, it's like she wants you to fail. Don't take her!
Do not take her class!! Its HORRIBLE! She mumbles, you can't understand her, she rushes through her power-points, and is not helpful at all. She is not a good teacher!!
All I can say is wow. Exam 1 was today and I'm afraid to see how I did, and I've gone to every lecture as well as SI. Her slides are so incoherent I have no clue where her test questions came from. You're going to be totally on your own.
People, this is college. If you want someone to hold your hand, you're barking up the wrong tree. However, if you do your work and need a bit of extra guidance, she's terrific for that. It's a tough class, as it should be... a lot of folks taking it want to move into medical professions. Study hard, keep up, pay attention. You'll be fine.
Always attend lecture for extra credit clicker questions, stay full time in lab to understand the models. just read the portion of the book in which her slides are on. Lab is easy if you stay the entire time and ask ta questionsI didnt need one extra credit point to get an A. Its actually pretty easy to get an A. I barely had to study for the final
Most people in this class are pre-health majors, so there should be no complaining. Yes you have to read the book and understand the material. Her accent can be bothersome, but she points you in the right direction. So far the 1st exam was very straight forward. She will not trick you on her exams, and she does actually elaborate on the material.
She's intelligent on the subject but shouldn't be called "teacher" as she doesn't explain any concepts at all. Extremely confusing, no clarity, nothing. I had to withdraw from the class, which is a shame because it'd be a really interesting subject taught by someone else. If you need this course, take my advice and just wait.
Misleading negative reviews. I had Dr Nautiyal for Bio-2600 last year with Hons section. Her student expectations are pretty clear and grading is fair. I earned A- in Bio-2600 Cell Bio and am taking Bio-2870 with her.
I am so glad I had Jyoti for anatomy and physiology last Fall. I am taking Human phys this semester. I feel I know most of the information already. I am very confident I will get "A" in this class.
Not a good professor. Studied very hard, memorized all concepts. When it comes to the exam I don't know where the questions came from. I studied full time just for this class and this is the first time I ever had to withdraw from a course.
Overall she doesn't really know how to teach but she gives a lot of extra credit which really helps her clickers questions and her curves on each exam will greatly affect your grade.Honestly, watching you tube videos really helps and she makes it really clear what she wants Work hard for this class and study really well An A is possible.
Anatomy Physiology is very intense and this was told by professor herself. Dr Jyoti has clear expectations, fair exam and grading policies. Opportunity to drop one lowest score is great plus. I have aced my 1st and 2nd mid-term and can afford to take exam-3 lightly. I find this course well organized with most topics covered for MCAT.
Comes off as very rude. Gives extra credit and lab portion is easy. Also curves exams.
Very thankful that she had extra office hours on Friday (no class day) just before the mid-term. It helped a lot on exam-3.
Yes, I will agree that she is smart and know's her subject well, but she does not teach well. She's rude, gives off a very negative vibe and going to class if you want to LEARN is completely pointless. Reads slides word for word, doesn't provide you with clarification. Only positives are that she gives extra credit and curves exams.
Just awful. I love biology and, especially A&P, she ruined it for me. Absolutely horrendous educator. Very unfortunate that she's pretty much the only option for this course.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She knows her stuff but is too hard to understand. She is NOT helpful what-so-ever. Refuses to meet with students and only has one office hour for ALL of her classes/sections. Doesn't hand back exams and asks the most random questions. Cumulative final has questions worth 6pts each that are multiple choice. TERRIBLE PROFFESSOR
Started off fine then exams 2 and 3 were ridiculous. This is not an intro class so dont try and blow your way through. She is tricky on purpose, her exams don't cover overall concepts but random details about her slides. You must read the book, understand this even if she doesnt clarify this at the start of the semester. Then follow her slides.
YES she's boring, monotone, & has an accent. BUT, she is clear in her expectations. She explicitly states that the PPs are GUIDES for textbook info. Her exams are pretty tough, but fair. And the bonus pts are easy. This class is not solely about memorizing, it's about understanding the concepts and applying them. She's not THAT bad.
Stay away. Unless it's the only hard class you are taking that semester and if you want to put your life on hold
She is rude, monotoned, un-understanding, doesn't care if you are failing and won't be of much help. Her slides sometimes don't make sense and her exams go into too much detail
Yes, she is hard to understand. She has an accent. However, it isn't impossible to do well. I personally sat in lecture and just paid attention and got lots of extra credit clicker points. To do well on the exams, ACTUALLY READ the text book and look at the pp. The class is 600 points, with 40 being extra credit. If you actually try, you'll be fine
It's hard to understand her. Her exams are extremely hard. She does give extra points but the question are not easy and if you only get the extra point if you actually answered the question correctly. Overall, if you plan on taking a class with her, get ready to visit hell.
May come off as rude during lecture but is actually kind in-person during office hours. Her PPts are guides through each chapter and if you use those while reading the book and study efficiently that class won't be that bad. Extra credit questions and lab is pretty easy too. LOTS of memorization in lab.
She is a nice women, and is there to help after class. She can come off as rude in class when asking questions, but I think she is trying to promote lazy students.... You will study all the time in this class. It is mostly memorizing. Go to class and get the iClicker points, read the book, and ask questions after class. She has a monotone voice!
I have never been so disappointed with a teacher at Wayne State. I sat towards the front of the class and couldn't even hear the teacher. She would offer bonus questions, but the majority of the class would answer the question wrong - which shows something. Her tests were poorly written both content wise and grammatically.
I had two classes with this professor in one semester and it wasn't fun. She is boring and often hard to hear. I managed to get decent grades by reading the textbooks everyday. You won't pass without the textbooks, so get used to reading them from the start. Do not depend on her to learn anything. WORST PROFESSOR EVER.
Avoid her if possible. Don't depend on her to learn and read the textbook a lot.
If you take this class with her, you'll need to devote a lot of time to reading the book. Her slides can be a bit confusing and slightly unorganized. She's hard to hear.1st test is easy, but the rest are pretty difficult.Gives extra credit only if you get the answers correct, and she still has a cap on how much you can earn. Lab is generally easy.
Succeeding in this class is difficult if you are not motivated to do plenty of work. Using her slides to study will get you nowhere. You must use the textbook. Pay attention in class and try to get as many clicker points as you can (Extra Credit!) She is very monotone and speaks quietly. Sit toward the front of lecture if possible.
She's a terrible teacher. Get ready to fail if you have her and other classes besides hers.
Take full advantage of the clicker points, she "curves" the range for -/+ grades so it can make a huge difference in your grade. Her exams were difficult and focused on processes and tiny details. She speaks in a monotone, so expect to study the powerpoints on your own or go to SI. The lab and lecture are both huge time sinks.
You absolutely need to work hard in this class! The lab and lecture are two separate classes that each require a lot of time. Go over the slides before and after lecture. EARN LOTS OF CLICKER POINTS. The extra 40 some points earned me a solid A. She curves exams and the final. Over okay experience, A&P takes over your life.
Her accent is a little difficult to understand, but she is definitely intelligent and knows the material. She is just completely unwilling to tolerate any talking in class, and never answers e-mails about course content or clarifications. You must teach yourself almost all of the material but if you do well you will have learned a lot.
Anatomy and physiology at WSU is great amount of hard work. Prof Jyoti gives around 45 bonus points in pop questions during lectures and go over the concept in details. This was very helpful in preparing for the mid-terms.
So Dr. Nautiyal is an extremely knowledgable professor! This class is tough beans... Probably one of the hardest courses I have taken. However, the information learned is vast and EXTREMELY beneficial for you aspiring med students. Overall, Dr Nautiyal could have been more available to answer questions via email. She offers a great amt of bonus pts
I was passionate about the subject going in. I didn't go to class because her accent gave me a headache and she's so rude during lecture. Be prepared to self study (BOOK) a ton BUT you WILL learn a lot! Put your life on hold but the knowledge you gain is worth it for premed kids. Only went to to her last exam review session and she was nice then.
her questions are a bit tricky but she is a really nice person and willing to help. not an easy course but if you work hard you can get a good grade.
Did not expect this much work and amount of learning in 8 weeks. I EARNED my A in Bio-2600. Dr N was very helpful. I had questions and discussion frequently, and she was very helpful. I will take her her for another course without doubts.
do not take this class with her. take it at community college.
Avoid taking A&P with her if you can. If you do make sure this is the only science course for the semester. You need to put in a lot of effort to get a good grade or even pass.
Before I took this class I asked many classmates if she's a difficult professor and all of them told me yes & to not take her class. I took it anyways & in 7 weeks & can honestly say she is an amazing professor. You have to outline the book & go to lecture but she's very helpful & clear on her expectations. Don't let anyone scare you. I got an A.
Horrible professor I think she does not want you to pass and does everything in her power to make sure you fail, scares you during class as well as exams, very rude makes students afraid to ask questions. Avoid and run far away if you can, but if you have no choice may God have mercy on your soul.
This is one tough class, amount of information covered in one semester is huge. If you are not in habit of hard work, its better to take this class in community colleges that will split the content into two classes. This is my third (well-chosen) biology class with profesor N.
Okay, so I took the accelerated summer version of cell bio with Jyoti. While I didn't do as well as I would have liked due to how quickly the course moved in the summer version, I think she was a really helpful and respectable professor. She is always there if you need help and gives realistic advice during lecture on how to pass and do well.
Definitely a bad professor . Stay away. Tricky on exams.
My meetings with her after mid-term-1 have been great help. With my new strategy I aced exam-2 and am pretty confident for exam-3 next week.
I took time to meet her multiple times with my notes and questions. She was very helpful. I earned B+, this is a tough class.
Horrible professor and horrible lecturer. She made anatomy incredibly horrible and uninteresting. Extremely boring lectures. However she was unavoidable for A&P. Also kinda rude to students. Apparently she's a little more helpful if you visit her office hours. Only good thing is that she is somewhat straightforward on what the class entails
Lecture power points can either be way too specific or just random words that leaves you wondering where she's even going with that statement. Honestly, if it wasn't for the lab, I would be completely failing. Way too detailed and tries to cram so much information in.
NOt helpful!!!!
Even w a microphone, her accent & monotonequietmumbling voice doesn't help the fact that lectures consist of reading pwrpt slides word-for-word to the class. Your time is better spent reading the entire textbook front-to-back, which you end up doing anyway, but unfortunately you must attend class to gain attendance points via iClicker quizzes.
Do not take this class. This teacher is horrible. She mumbles to herself and is not clear at all. She thinks she is teaching a class of 1st graders. The only time she is heard is when she took time to yell at students in the lecture. This lady knows her information but has an extremely hard time presenting it to the class. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Prof
Just like any other professor, she reads off the slides which is no help at all. You need to self teach for this class, not to mention you can barely hear a word she says. She's rude and i honestly felt as if she wanted students to fail based on the way she screwed everyone over for the second (not to mention hardest) exam. terrible teacher.
5 yrs of college & this professor is the worst I have ever encountered. She has a reputation for being unfair and a bad lecturer. Usually, if I study hard and go to every class, I have no issue getting a great grade. This is not the case in this class. Her tests include the most minuet details. She does not test on what you know.
Heavy accent and low voice. Isn't clear on what to study. You're basically on your own.
If you can take anatomy and physiology with another professor, then do so. Professor Jyoti Nautiyal is boring, monotonous and hard to follow. She doesn't encourage students question, doesn't emphasize important topics over out of course context information. She will post ppt slides for her lectures, each chapter is about 70 slides, full of info.
Sorry but she is the worst teacher I've ever had! I'm an honors student and am on the verge of failing. You have no idea what you will be tested on, you can't understand her or hear her, she tests on information she hasn't taught, skips slides, and calls students out in class. If you have a choice, DO NOT TAKE HER!
Worst prof I have ever had so far. Barely taught and the tests were awful. Read the book and take notes and have plenty of time to just go over her slides and review. Do all that and you might get a C. I studied so hard and I didn't get the grade I deserve.
Decent professor. The exams exams actually weren't that insane compared to some other classes, the average score was being about a C, but the issue is that she emphasizes minute details and her wording can be tricky. Going to class didn't feel beneficial. Read the textbook and take very detailed notes and then hope for the best.
extremely hard, worst professor
The material taught is not too bad, it's just the wording of her exams are tricky. Stay on top of the lecture slides, take good notes, read the textbook, and read the exam questions VERY slowly. After transferring from UM-Dearborn, I can tell you all that she was probably the best professor I ever had. She's also very helpful during office hours.
Dr. Nautiyal is a HARD professor and makes you really know your stuff. I EARNED my A. Attend lecture, take good notes, LISTEN TO RECORDINGS (write every word) and know ALL of it upside-down. I didn't read the book, but there were Qs on the exams from it. If you're serious about getting an A, this class will take up most of your time. Good luck!
When you hear this Prof name run for your life... this was the worst Prof I have ever had. This 3 credit class took more studying time than my 4 credit classes. She is very mean and cruel and lives to see her students fail. She use tell us anyone who did bad is not studying. NOT TRUE!!!!!! VERY RUDE!!! WOORSE PROF EVER Very detailed and monotonic.
One of the toughest professors I've ever had and now I need to repeat her class. I received a C- and I felt like I worked harder for that than my other classes (which I received all A's and a C- this semester). Take this class ALONE, it has a very heavy workload, and make sure you get all of the points you can, because every point counts.
Yikes is really all i have to say. Easily one of the most uninspiring instructors at wayne state. A robot that spits out information. Read the book, take notes on lecture slides and go to SI. You'll unfortunately just have to deal with this lady to get through the class.
I took her for Anatomy & Physiology, and found it to be straight forward. Everyone complains, but she does give a ton of extra credit & the tests are multiple choice. All you have to do is sit through the lecture and pay attention. If that is not enough, read the text book. All the information is there and clear to understand if you miss something
I took BIO2600 as a spring course. So it is 16 weeks of info shoved into 8 weeks. I did everything. I read the book, I took notes, I came to class, and I went to EVERY SI session. I worked the hardest I have ever worked, and got a B+. Her lectures are boring. And her exams test on small details. Prepare to work hard and end up with a crappy grade.
No hand outs (Easy A). Dr. Jyoti is not a bad professor by a long shot. Lectures are long, there's pop quizzes. Yes, you should read the (very clear) textbook. SI helps! Patrice exam with no answers (look em up!) There's curves! Use the office hours. If learning is not your objective you should DROP OUT no one wants a lazy Doctor or anybody! Study.
I took this class as a shortened spring course (8 weeks instead of 16). She gets a bad rep-everyone I know who has had her told me to drop the class. I got an A. Go to class and take REALLY good notes. If you put the work in you will do fine and she curves each exam if needed!
I would never take a class with her again. The tests we extremely hard and focused on the most minute details. I studied like crazy for this class and it didn't seem to matter. She was not available for the students except for her very limited office hours. If you can take this class with a different professor.
I did well in this class, but boy did I have to slave over this class. The only reason I came to class was to get participation points. I usually did other homework/surfed the web during lecture. I knew I had to teach myself the material anyway. Study every week. Some questions from practice exam show up on the exam. Don't slack!
WORST TEACHER EVER. if you can it somewhere else DO IT! Exams are much more detailed than what she teaches. Powerpoint slides are long and not helpful. Unless you memorize the book, you're not going to do well.
This is already a challenging class on its own. This professor makes it absolute hell. Most of the people taking the class are probably repeat students. She stands up in the front of class just to read slides to you. DOES NOT TEACH, it is confusing at times. The test are super detailed and based on things that she didn't even touch on class.
This class was definitely a heavy workload. I recommend to take this class by itself and spend all your time on it. I worked very hard and studied after every lecture a week prior the exam and received an A. Her exams are not detailed, if you know your stuff you will know the answer. If you can answer her sample exams you will do well on the exam.
The worst professor I had in college. Her exams are tough and participation matters. She's very rude also. I would highly recommend you take A&P at another college.
Dr Nautiyal is a very mean professor. She's not the type that'll help you if you don't understand the material, instead she'll make you feel dumb. Her grading isn't fair because she doesn't always give you your points that you've earned. When you tell about them she gets really mad. I'm an A student and she ruined my GPA.
Hard to hear, powerpoints are not organized, will become angry with class if you ask her to speak louder. She made our second exam impossible because she said the class average was too high on the first exam. Stated 50% needed to pass and 50% needed to fail, so she will grade to meet the quota.
Dr. Jyoti is one of the hardest professor I took this semester. This was my first class where I had to spend numerous amount of time just studying. And no matter how much I studied I earned avg grades on the exams. If you are planning to take A&P with her, start preparing for this class beforehand or you will regret it. I barely managed to get a B-
DO NOT TAKE HER! Worst teacher I have ever had. She read off slides, was no help at all. I actually went to her in the beginning of the semester to ask how I can do well in this course but she not helpful at all. I know people who ended up getting into med school and barely got B- or C+ in her class. She seriously doesn't know how to teach.
Great prof. Is a clear lecturer and is very knowledgable. Her entire background is cancer bio but she also knows cell bio and A&P very well! Fair grader. You will learn alot no question. Exams are straight forward. Expects alot from students but is worth taking!
I took this class and I did really well compared to my peers, partly because I am really into working out/fitness and I had extensive knowledge of all of the bones, muscles, joints, general physiology, and other things that she tests. Flash cards will be your best friend. If you do take this class, don't take another hard one with it.
Honestly a very sweet woman! I took this class twice to improve my grade. She truly cares about students and if you follow along in class and read the text you will be just fine.
I loved her. Very nice and always encourages participation, questions, etc. Very clear in her lectures and in what she expects you to know. Exams are clear-cut. Study hard and treat it like the challenging science course it is and you will be fine.
Dr. Nautiyal's class wasn't so hard for me, but communicating with her was. It doesn't matter how professional you are, she will probably be rude and assume you should already know whatever it is you are asking.
Had no choice but to take her as a teacher. Lectures always ran over the time. Very long and boring. Assumes you know everything and want to teach the class if she see's you asking a friend a question. Very vague in lecture, must read the book for the information. Must go to class for clicker questions and attendance.
Most of her classes were every boring and her classes didn't do much to actually teach the material. Her tests are really a hit or miss and no amount of studying can prepare you for the hard ones. The questions on her exams are particularly hard to understand because the wordings of the questions and options can be interpreted in multiple ways.
Jyoti's lectures are very hard to get through, as it feels like they go on forever. It's a lot easier to listen to her lectures later on in chunks and get the material from there. Her clickers are very difficult, and she doesn't give you a warning when she pulls one up. Office hours aren't helpful. Tests are more hard than I can say. Read the book!
Worst professor ever! no matter how hard you try you will always be disappointed at the end. AVOID HER as much as you can.
Her lectures aren't that useful except to get the sections of the chapter that you must read if you want to pass. Read the text if you want to do well.
Jyoti is one of the most challenging professors i've ever taken. Attendance is absolutely critical solely because a decent portion of your grade is clicker points. Don't expect easy points, either. The majority are tricky/concisely timed and serve as reward to the students that keep up on their readings. Expect to utilize your book. Would avoid.
She makes it clear you need to read the textbook if you want to do well. Majority of people who did bad didn't read the textbook or only skimmed it a few nights before an exam. I read before or right after she lectured and the class was manageable with orgo2/calc2/+2electives. Partition your time properly and treat it like the hard class it is.
Jyoti is a great professor. You must be prepared to read, attend every class to earn your clicker points and dedicate extra time after class. Lecture is hard but lab helps to clarify things, so go to lab. I had to take her twice. I wouldnt have had to take it twice if I dedicated a little more time the first time.
