I really enjoyed her online African American History class. She gives awesome feedback on discussion board posts & exams. If you want an A though, expect to write 400-500 words per question & make sure your responses to peers are insightful. The midterm and final are open-book essay questions that you have two hours to complete.

Prof. Calahane is really nice and certainly knows her history apart from what is generally known. We dive deep into very specific topics that you probably haven't learned before but are interesting to learn. Be sure to keep up on the readings for each class meeting and you'll do fine on the exams. If you don't read you won't pass the class.

Professor Calahane is very knowledgeable in the subject area. Most of your points are earned in attendance, which shouldn't be a surprise because most people that want to do well attend class. Your homework is large reading packets (multiple book excerpts in place of textbook). And there are 2 papers. She is always there to help and cares greatly.

I loved her history class! You have to attend to pass. Professor Calahane made it so enjoyable and easy to understand. I enjoyed her lectures and I like to take notes by listening so I did not have a problem with her slides being more vague. Homework is reading. If you read and prepare for the tests you will do great. I ended the course with an A.

I took Calahane's Women in U.S. History class. It's your typical online class, w/ weekly discussion assignments (giving your analysis from 2 out of 4 questions provided), and commenting on other discussions. Tip: Calahane appreciates in-depth analysis. Also mostly focus on reading material she provides, and others outside the class you research.

I learned a lot from her 8-week course. Detailed lectures, ZTC, and easy to understand if you don't know much about U.S. history. Fair grader as well, will only mark you down slightly if you miss something. Be prepared to work your butt off if you're taking her for 8 weeks, lots of reading and writing for the DBs and tests. Highly recommended!

Even though this was an online class I would say attendance is mandatory because you need to show up and do the work everyday. Nobody is going to hold your hand and make you do your work. I kept up with the work every week and had absolutely no issues. Took five classes this summer, got an A in this class. Do good work, get a good grade.

Absolutely loved taking history 16 with Calahane. She posted two lectures a week which required lots of reading, but it was very informative and as long as you put effort into the course, you will succeed. Offers lots of extra credit!! She graded very fairly. Highly recommend her!

This class is a lot of work with several projects and her weekly assignments are extensive. Learned a lot and she was a great professor.

I learned so much in this class and I do not regret taking it whatsoever, but the workload was extremely heavy. Each week, two discussion posts are assigned, but each one has an 800 word requirement and involve heavy reading and analysis. You need good writing skills for this class. Learned a lot but get ready for way too much work

From what I can tell she is a nice lady. Even as someone who is left-leaning, I noticed the content was framed with a very liberal perspective. That could be a good or bad thing for a student, but just be forewarned that it's not a typical US history class. Discussion boards are moderate in difficulty and she gives tons of extra credit.

The most amazing professor, extra credit if you turn in on time, regular if you turn it in a day late, always understanding and gives amazing feedback on discussion boards and essays. Know you aren't going to read everything, tells students to do work that fits their life, responsive to emails and a good grader, ended the class above 100%

There are no exams in this course. Just discussion boards, an art gallery project, and a final paper. That type of grading is better for some than others. But Prof. Calahane has a great policy where she gives a 24-hour grace period for no penalty, and anything turned in before the grace period gets +1 extra credit. Be thorough, and you'll do great!

Easy A class. Only two discussions each week, one essay for final, and depending on the course you take from her, there may be a project but there may not be one. It really depends which class you take from her. She offers so much extra credits plus she teaches different history courses and classes online. Best professor ever! Totally recommended!!

Easiest and most chilling professor ever! So much extra credit points!! Turn the assignment on time, 1 extra credit per assignment. Can turn any late assignment for up to 24 hour, after it is due. Afterwards, it is a zero, unless you tell her by emailing her, your work, & send it to her on Canvas message or you can try email but it not guaranteed.

Each discussion has 2 sets of different questions, 300 words for each set of questions at least, making it 600 words at least for 1 discussion. Lots of discussions that are very easy and offer extra credit for turning the assignments on time. Provide one or two sources and you can get full credit. Super easy and fun. Lots of writing but I swear, there is no timed test, which makes it so much easier.

Most of the assignments are discussions, which is better than taking exams or tests because it would be harder to get a good score on. Discussions are easy and she provides primary and secondary sources for you to read, as well as cite evidence for your writing paper essay. This made the book literally easy to read & cite. Would take again!
