This is an easy class and she is an easy grader.
she's chill. shes a real easy grader..i was practically reading off my notecards and i still got an A on a major speech. if you want to learn public speaking effectively don't take the class. if you want an easy A take it :)
Her enthusiasm makes it easy. She helps us get comfortable in class during our speeches. She's great! Powerpoint lectures are all the information we need, just go to class and take the notes down. Super easy.
She is the best professor i have ever had. The class isn't easy because she's an easy grader, but she has a command for the subject and if you can't understand her lectures it is most likely a personal problem. She is verry bubbly.Take her you won't regret it. Just listen and you'll be fine.
Kaci is cool. In class really all you do is take down notes. Tests are pretty hard but the main points come from the 3 group projects and 2 term papers. Their really not that bad. I wouldn't say I enjoy going to kaci's class but you miss 2 points every time your absent so =/
shes a really fun, sweet teacher. shes young, so its easy to communicate with her and be yourself. i recommend her.
She is a good teacher and very nice
She's a really cool instructor. Like everyone is saying.. she's young, so it's easier for you to interact with her. The class is alright, she teaches off of slides, which are basically on the textbook. The midterms are hard but you will do well as long as you take notes but you might want to read the textbook to clarify her notes. The presentations
We all call her Kaci. She's young, fun and quirky. Sure she teaches off a powerpoint and that may be boring to some. She is straightforward and you may think the class seems easy at first because it IS common sense material. However, the tests are hard if you don't study because the multiple choices are ambiguous.
I really enjoyed this class. At first I was scared to talk in front of the class but she makes you feel comfortable and its easy going. Attendance is only mandatory during major speeches and the tests are practically off the notes, but be careful of pop quizes; about 3 i think. Take her!! She's easy to talk to, very nice and its fun! =)
Great professor!! totally helpful, understanding, down to earth. I would highly recommend her. With effort and a positive attitude you will get a good grade..I got an A!! ;)
Shes the coolest most relaxed teacher i have ever had. Shes really chill and easy. Everyone calls her Kaci and she knows everyones name. Easy A definitely
Very cool teacher, she's young and laid back. Her class is very kickback and the presentations are easy because you get to be up front with your group. 3 presentation, 3 tests, 1 paper. I would recommend her to anybody taking small group.
She is the most awesome teacher! Shes fun ,relaxed, and the class is pretty laid back and i actually learned some stuff. Prior to the test day she goes over what you need to know, definitely an easy A
I took this professor Fall 2005. She's super amazing and down to earth. When I took the class it was 3 minor speeches (4-6 min) and 2 major ones (8-10 min). You can practically present about anything. The exams are off the book. She brough donuts the first week and bagels n cream cheese the day of the final for our class. GREAT CLASS!
She's very helpful and very nice. She's extremely clear and gives a pretty good lecture/guide on what she expects on speeches. Tests are mostly based on the book. I'd say easy A for COMM majors. I'm pretty bad at public speaking and I managed to get 78%.
Very cool professor. She is very down to earth and willing to help students when they need help. Lectures are on powerpoints and it is also posted on beachboard. 3 group presentations, and 3 test. Her class is very fun and enjoyable. She takes roll everyday though; sometimes she doesn't take roll, but she will remember if you did not show up or not
Really nice teacher. Her class is relatively easy. The class has 3 GROUP projects (if someone in your group does bad, YOU will get a bad grade. And if someone slacks, YOU end up doing the work.) The exams are a little difficult, I studied pretty hard and still only got a C and B.
Young, nice, kool, smart, fun teacher? one the best teachers I had this semester!!! ? Her class was fun, because you get to meet your classmate. The tests are not the best, you really need to study if you want to do good on them. The 3 different group presentations are not bad at all they are actually fun and interesting to do.
She is a very fun professor to have I recommend her a lot. you only have 3 group precentations each one is different. they are all fun the only thing i recommend is study for her test they are a little hard. other than that she is a very good professor you will have a good time in her class
She is a great professor! She's funny, young and interesting. Just read the texbook carefully! All the test questions are quotes and anal comments from the book. Her powerpoint is just an overview. So read the book. ohh the extra credit is EASY
Kaci is a great teacher that is really passionate about the subject. Her lectures are Powerpoint but she tries to have class interaction so it's not boring. The projects are fun but you need to work on them if you want an A. The tests are pretty hard if you do not read the book. Her class is a perfect example of you get the grade you worked for.
i barely showed up to class and passed with an A. all you have to do is study the lecture slides she posts on beachboard. but be sure to attend when she assigns group projects etc
she is such a sweet lady. she is extremely warm and friendly and grades your speeches really easy. she even brought donuts for us on the final! she gives pop quizzes on material in the book, though, so make sure you read.
Kaci is a great prof! read the book and pp presentations and you'll do fine on the tests and quizzes!!
kaci is a great prof. great fashion sense! lol. explains everything very well. cancels class a few times so we had to rush all the speeches. 3 pop quizzes, so be prepared. print out lecture notes so dont have to read book that often :)makes everyone feel welcomed. im okay with public speaking but this class was my favorite!take her! its worth it!
awesome teacher.....class is not difficult at all just show up she assigned 3 group projects....all lecture slide on beach board...take this class!!!
Kaci made her lectures short and to the point, usually leaving time for everyone to meet up with their groups and do their 3 projects. She grades VERY Leniently! No one got below a 44/50 on their first presentation. VERY VERY VERY easy, definitely a must take for your GE's.
Very helpful. furloughs are really tough on her right now but she still kept the class going. Great teacher she loves what she teaches. she is very enthusiastic. class is super easy and so are the reading just read and study your notecards before a speech and your on YOUR WAY TO AN "A". speeches can be alittle scary but you get over it.
She's so sweet & nice! She tries to make the lectures interesting and fun! She's pretty lenient on speeches, which is good since I'm a HORRIBLE PUBLIC SPEAKER. Tests in the class are ohkay, just rememberize the powerpoints!
Kaci is soo nice. She makes comm bearable. I am the type that HATES public speaking and although there are 5 speeches in the class she makes them really easy. I would strongly suggest taking comm 130 with her if you have to take it. She lets you out early most of the time too which is always nice.
Easy class. She grades easy on speeches as long as you follow the guidelines. You must do well on all the tests to get an A. Don't just rely on the speeches alone. She's a good professor, but she just lags on grading stuff. Take her.
She is a great teacher.. I would reccomend her. I took her Comm 130 course and it was super easy. Although her tests she says to study the notes. You need to study the chapters. Soemtimes there is stuff on the test that she doesnt lecture on. All around GREAT teacher and GREAT class!!!
Recommended, a walk in the park. Not much speeches in this class (if your not a speaker type.) Attendance you can get by (in speech days, sometimes class days). She sometimes cancel a bunch of class. No homework, but studying the textbook is a must. Exams are based on the book, she only gives a gyst of them in class.
Easy A. Never touched the text book. Lectures are just power points that you can get online so no need to go to class most of the time. Easy grader on speeches. She cancels class A LOT. Take her, lots a fun.
I don't know if she was having a bad semester but she HARDLY showed up for class. She was nice, understanding and helpful. . . when she showed up. I had her MWF at 8 and she would e-mail us (on multiple accounts) at 7:30 saying that she wouldn't be able to make it to class. And she grades very slowly. In the end, she didn't put our presentation in
Very nice and overall great professor. If you don't like writing and reciting speeches, this is the class to take. You work in groups for 3 different projects that require just a few hours of outside work each. Tests are easy, text book not required but it helps to study with. Only compliant is that she doesn't post grades but you can ask via email
I really enjoyed this class. Ms Kaci is super laidback, sweet, and easy going. The presentations and test are easy. passing her class is not hard at all. She has some absent days too which was great for an 8 am. I highly recommend taking her!
I really enjoyed the class. Kaci is chill and the 3 presentations were fun. You don't need the text book, she posts presentations on beach board. The 3 test were easy and she only has us do discussion board where we could talk about anything. She replied quickly to my emails and allowed me to turn in late work. Awsome class.
I had Kaci for night class and she is very lenient on your speeches compare to other professors. You don't need your text, but if you want to study and make sure you pass 3 easy tests, you should use it. She allows the 3rd edition textbook too.
Kaci is ok. She is laid back and grades average. It's a do-able class.
Fun, outgoing, easy to get along with professor! Grades are based on a few presentations and tests as well as references, outlines, etc. You always know what she is grading you on. Great class to take!
Very EZ class. 3 minor & 3 major speeches (rehearse alot). 2 exams & 1 final. (easy exams if u study) 1 speech analysis paper (the easiest paper ever) and EZ 5-point extra credit. she goes over lecture very quick, but she posts them on BB. U don't need the txtbook nor the critique/workbook (she uploads them on BB). take her!
She's a nice person, but this class is all about reading the book, and doing well in the 3 exams you will have. if u got this part, the presentation part is super easy and u will get a good grade
Kaci is awesome and a very easy teacher! Attendance is not mandatory and she tells you what you need to know for the exams prior to taking them. Best teacher to take!
Kaci is the nicest teacher out there. She is always happy to be in class teaching and helping her students learn, but don't let that full you she does give you the grade you deserve. So go to class, read the grade sheet and practice to get a good grade.
She is an easy grader for speeches. The class is pretty laid back; attendance is only required on speech days. Highly recommend reading the sections that she says will be on the test; do that and you should be fine.
She is literally the easiest, yet most reasonable teacher! She is really nice and she cancels class more than the other comm teachers. I literally got all A's on the speeches. The tests are straightforward, it's mostly on her powerpoints but the book helps you get that A. I loved how class is only mandatory on speech days. 3 tests, 3 minor,2 major
Kaci is the chillest prof you'll ever meet. The class is outstandingly straightforward. Grading is very lenient - there are even some extra credit opportunities (hint: go to class, always!). Speeches are not formal. Failing this class would require more effort than needed to pass. =) All in all, I learned a lot in this course, as well.
Kaci is such a nice person and chill professor. The class is on pubic speaking and all of the lectures are on powerpoint slides which are all on BeachBoard. There were two tests on the slides and the rest is going up and giving speeches. Very generous grader, no profanity in your speeches, and be up to date with speeches and you'll pass no doubt.
For a three unit class, I spent an average of 1.5 hours a week in lecture. She is a pretty strict grader when it comes to presentations, but her tests are super easy. As long as you read the assigned chapters in the text book and read over her power points, you will get an A. You don't have to pay attention in class, but attendance is graded.
Ms. Sewell is a really patient and open minded professor. She would let you present any topic as long as it is done respectfully and thoughtfully. This could stretch from the mundane such as physical fitness to the controversial such as the death sentence. Her feedback is paramount to improving your speech.
She's a pretty chill professor. Maybe a little tough on grading presentations, but it's not impossible to get an A. Her presentations are a little broad and vague though so it was hard to figure out what she actually wanted. But her tests are easy as long as you read the book and go over the PPT. Take this class if you like group projects.
Great professor! Her tests are easy if you pay attention in class, pay attention to definitions. The final is not cumulative so that's a plus. Three presentations, the best thing you can do is get creative on them. She offers extra credit too and make sure you go to class because attendance is part of your grade.
Professor Sewell is pretty cool. Her class is straightforward 3 Major speeches and 3 Minor speeches, 3 exams including the final which is not cumulative, and a 2 page paper analyzing speeches on YouTube. Would easily take the class again.
She is so sweet, had her freshman year for public speaking and made the class very easy to pass. Gives you all the information you need, doesn't try to trick you on exams or on her expectations for speeches. She's always willing to help you with your speeches too, just email her or go to her office hours
3 presentations and 3 tests. Read the textbook as well as lecture slides because test material is straight from there. Use the group presentations to learn about being an effective public speaker, but also have fun with it. It's a creative class.
She is an OK Professor. Pretty off-Standish but never rude. You pretty much work in your groups and that's the class. You talk to your class mates more than her for the most part. She is pretty strict with grading, do not miss deadlines and BB submissions. Offers EC but its not worth much so do not expect much additional help for your grade.
She teaches you about passive aggressiveness and that's when you realize thats what she is. Not a horrible teacher and is a good option for those that do not like to present alone and would rather do it with others there.
Very dynamic Professor with excellent energy. Excellent lectures and vital information shared in class everyday. If you are willing to learn and enjoy, definitely take her class. Be there for your speeches and for the rest of your classmates as a show of respect. A+ Professor!
Follow the guidelines given for the group presentations, get an A. Tests are an easy A IF you take the time to read from the textbook, most material is covered in class but if you are aiming for 90% of higher on exams you have to read. extra credit is given and class usually ends early! take... easyyyyy A for GE credit
Show up to class for attendance/participation credit, 3 group presentations, chance for extra credit, 3 exams. Super easy GE course to take, and usually get out of class early. She's clear about how she grades and expects, but not very personal. Have fun with your groups in presentations and it'll fly by!
Pretty good professor. Grades heavily on presentations. Also grades on 3 exams and monthly discussion post. Exams are a bit complicated but other than that chill class.
Professor Sewell is truly hilarious. I took a night class with her and luckily her personality kept me coming back. The class is super easy, but yes, you do have to do speeches and a couple outlines. She has a great personality and doesn't waste time with busy work. She reminds me of one of my friends, so of course I am going to recommend her!
Honestly, have no clue what the comment below mine is even talking about. Got 2 A's and one B on the presentations. As for tests, some people read the textbook, I just read over her power point slides multiple times. She posts the slides online which is great. Overall, very respectful professor and person if you get to know her in the slightest.
Ms. Sewell is the sweetest teacher. I did not buy the book because I assumed I didn't need it, however I would've done much better on the tests if I had done so. Group presentations are easy, as long as you and your group put in the extra effort, they're easy A's
Kaci was an extremely nice and caring professor. Although the book isn't required, it helps with tests. Group projects are easy to ace, just make sure your group members contribute evenly and call them out if they don't (you will get bad group members sometimes). Attendance only mandatory on group speech days. I did ok on tests, good on speeches.
Kaci was a very caring professor. As it was a Small Group Discussion class, I didn't expect to be presenting as much as I did. We had 3 group presentations and 3 exams. Reading the textbook really helped since the exams were more conceptual. Attendance was mandatory for the participation grade. Be ready for your peers rather than the professor.
She is very nice and understanding. Criteria and grading rubrics for the group projects are clearly outlined and she is always willing to clarify any areas. So long as you dont end up with any big slackers in your groups, the class is an easy A. Attendance counts. Tests are surprisingly detailed so read the textbook (lecture notes are not enough).
Kaci rocked she was a really cool professor but beware HER TESTS ARE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE! to make up for it do REALLLY well on all speeches!
only thing hard about this class are the tests. you have to read the textbook to do good on the tests, but other than that your only option for points are to do well on speeches. she's still a very good lecturer overall, the only homework you'll get is the speech analysis paper. take her if you don't mind reading for tests.
She's a tough grader. A very nice professor, nevertheless. Be sure to read criteria sheet every time you present. Read the books too for 3 multiple choices exams.
A really cool professor!! She cares about her students and very nice to everyone. The grades mostly based on the group presentations. There are three exams for the whole semester. Even though the textbook isn't required to read, but it is REALLY helpful for the exams because the questions are all from the textbook.
participation grade, tests are hard bc u have to read the textbook (lectures not enough), grades really hard on the 3 group presentations. honestly, grade depends on how well group members present. gives extra credit at the end of semester where u analyze communication in a movie
Hardest part about the class were the tests. 3 quizzes based of the book, not really the lecture slides. 3 group assignments that were graded based on the dynamic of your group and execution of the task. Gives one extra credit opportunity. Show up bc attendance matters. Participate in her lectures when possible bc those count too.
Kaci was a great instructor. Her class consists mostly of group projects and a few exams. For the group projects, be sure to put in the effort and you will do well. Her class is designed in a way where by the end of the semester, the whole class had become friends, which was fun. Be sure to read the text before exams (they're specific).
Really caring, fun teacher and pretty easy grader, 3 group projects and 3 exams. Show up to class and listen/take notes in lecture and you'll be good on the exam. Group projects have really clear grading criteria and made a lot of friends in my class:)
Her rubrics for the three presentations were very clear and organized. I loved her class and I highly recommend her if you are a very shy or reserved person. There's no way you can fail this class as long as your group doesn't have slackers you are fine. Make sure to study for exams with the textbook and power points.
Fun and light class. The professor is the sweetest. She is always smiling and is super welcoming. Three group projects, but she is very cleary on what she is looking for and grades pretty easy. Exams weren't bad either. The whole class becomes friends in the end. HIGHLY recommend. I loved this class. Take her!
Prof. Kaci was super sweet and accomodating throughout the course. She is easily accessible, gives great feedback, and truly wants you to learn. It is 'Small Group Discussions' so you work with your group for the entire semester, but if you have great team members and work through the issues, then you'll be fine. It's a great GE class to take.
The class will consist of you working with other students throughout the semester. You will have weekly discussion posts, midterm, final, final analysis paper, and three presentations. The instructor is very understanding and grades leniently, so do not feel discouraged enrolling in the class. Also, you become closer with your group members.
Prof Kaci is the sweetest prof I have this sem! As long as you are in a good group you guys will do fantastic. I really enjoyed taking this course and getting to know my group members. Not going to lie, I'll miss working with my group and meeting up with them every week. Plus, Ms. Kaci gives the best feedback and it surely helps!
She is a very good professor. She is very caring and makes sure everyone knows what the expectations are when it comes to each presentation. There's a weekly discussion posts that are due every Friday, and the exams comes straight from the textbook. Highly recommend taking her!!!
Kaci Sewell was the coolest professor I've had so far. She is super kind and fun while making the class actually fun to be in. Weekly meetings with a group, once you get to know your group is super fun. I would definitely take it again.
Ms. Sewell was such a kind, motivating, and easy professor for COMM 132. The class was entirely online but she was always accessible. The only thing that really counted towards your grade is presentations. If she does switch to in-person over online then I think the entire concept of presenting will be different - online is much easier.
I loved her. Weekly discussions and she never had lectures because this entire class was spent in my group for weekly meetings to work on the three projects throughout the whole semester. When we did present to her she was so enthusiastic and gave great feedback. This class is really great to make friends and easily complete your GE requirement.
As long as you work together with your group and follow guidelines for the presentations, everything else is easy. The feedback for presentations is detailed and done in such a well-put together manner that its clear what to improve on and the discussion posts are also pretty easy to get down. The exams are open note so they're easy as well.
Clear expectations, work is only heavy if you procrastinate. I took it completely asynch, you just have to arrange time to meet with group members.
whatever you do take professor Sewell. So nice and gives clear feedback on presentations. I slacked off a lot this year and was still able to get a passing grade.
Professor Sewell was more of a harsher grader when it came to presentations. There were bi weekly discussions and other assignments. The class is asynchronous besides the fact that you have to meet up with your group on zoom once a week. You should read the textbook (she gives a pdf) since exams are based off of it.
Not horrible. The whole class was 6 kids in my group making presentations. The teacher didn't interact with us, almost ever, but when she did grade our presentations she was fair but a little too enthusiastic with high expectations. If you want easy communications credit, her class is the way to go.
her assignments were so easy and straightforward and the only thing you had to show up for were group meetings and presentations
super easy asynch class! the only downfall is if you get bad group mates since it's chosen randomly by the prof at the beginning of the semester. discussion post/group meeting once a week, a few exams, three group projects, and one easy short analysis paper. if you don't wanna put your grade into the hands of others, id rec not taking this course
Professor Sewell is a great professor, who expects excellence out of her students. She is a tough grader, however she gives great feedback and you learn a lot. Her online speech class requires students to work in groups which is cool. She is also kind, caring, and inspirational; she truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed!
This class is INCREDIBLY easy. I would definitely recommend. Easy credits, easy A. She is great.
Weekly discussions, weekly group meetings with proof and report (can be online or in person), one paper, 3 presentations (zoom), 2 exams, 1 final exam. Super easy class. My best advice is to engage with your group and communicate well! It will make this class go by so much smoother since you will be graded as a group for group assignments.
so u get put into groups and u have to meet up w them once a week, it was kinda annoying tbh but its fine it was easy. i hated doing the presentation, and there was 3. the first one mad easy second one was hard and third one we had fun with it. she makes u do a discussion once a week and a midterm and a final.then 2 page final paper based on movie
Easy online class with engaging group projects. Presentations are the main focus, but the professor provides helpful feedback. Unstuckstudy proved to be a great study resource alongside the course textbook.
super fun and easy just take this. for me, it was just annoying to meet with my group every week since im an introvert. but the presentations are fun and creative!!
Had to drop because of her wack Zoom presentations. Basically your grade depends on meeting with other people & I messaged 10 people only 2 got back but they already paired up, such a mess!
Class somewhat easy if you have productive teammates. Grade almost entirely depends upon how well your team works together, but she is also an unreasonable grader when it comes to presentations. Docked my group points for a criteria that wasn't even in the rubric. Presentation rubrics are vague and lead to missed points. Discussion posts annoying.
I got an A in her class but her class is ridiculous, her instructions are all over the place you got to double read. Too many rules. On top of it , college kids aren't too dependable so good luck finding a good group who is reliable.i would not take again. Sure I got an A but still it was very tedious. Basically I faked it to make it.
