he's still new to teaching so there're mistakes, but a cool guy
No Comments
Overall just great. Takes the time to help students and answer questions. Tests are exactly like his lectures and homework. Would defintiely recommend to anyone.
He is a good teacher, he also has extra office hours at his residence. Tests and quiz are reasonable, he is a very easy grader.
He was a good math teacher which is hard to find. He was funny and kept the class interested. His quizzes and test were mostly from his lectures. He made it clear what we ought to know and didn't choose too many tricky questions. There were a couple unfair ?'s but in math you gotta know your stuff. I recommend him cus he gives a lot of extra credit
OMG!! Take this guy for Calc I!!!! He's the best teacher ever! His lectures were funny, easy tests and quizes....and sometime he gives out a lot of extra credits!!
Simply the best. His lectures are crystal clear-very easy to understand. His quizes and tests are practically identical to the in-class examples and the assigned homework problems. He also assings alot of extra credit. This summer i got over 50 points in extra credit. Highly reccomended.
Take him. He's very sincere Wants everyone to succeed Very helpful Knows the material very well and can explain in different ways if you aren't getting it Good amount of extra credit Assigns a good amount of homework and quizzes Gives helpful practice exams Only bad was he skipped some steps during example problems but I guess doctors can do that.
Take him if you can. By far the best math teacher I have had. His lectures were easy to follow and he keeps a good flow to his lectures.
Excellent Calculus professor. Really wants you to pass and understand the difficult subject. Tests are like the practice tests and quizzes are directly from the homework. Gives a ton of extra credit. Must attend activity sessions for extra credit. Truely helpful, recommend for any Calculus class. Be warned, he is a fan of the Lakers.
Terrible teacher. I would AVOID this class in the summer if you can. He acts like he wants to help, tries and then really doesn't. If you feel lost drop the class before you no longer have that option. Nice guy, but does not explain the material well.
I wish he taught all of my math classes!!.. He actually made Calc fun, and easy if you try. One of those teachers that you can joke with, and yet have a lot of respect for him at the same time. Just take notes,do your hw and ask questions if you dont understand..like any other class..lol but really.. he's a great teacher!!
He teaches good, but i dont like the way he writes upper case letters. Very confusing! He is into the detail when he lectures, but when time for inclass works, the class can't figure out how his lectures can apply to the classwork. He is very knowledgiable and friendly. Overall, he is a good teacher. In 5 or more years, he be great!
Though the workload is light, this is a tough class because the concepts taught are hard to grasp. Plus Suaray likes to use theoretical approach, so expect to do proofs and such. Grade is based on 2 midterms, 1 comprehensive final, and 4 quizzes. Make sure you know your 380 material since he likes to slip in a few of those questions.
Suaray is a GREAT calc professor. He made Calculus something that is not so difficult, and you really get a firm understanding of the principles. I would recommend taking him for Calc I, II, and III if you are able to
Great Calc Professor, hard material but he explains everything in ways anyone can understand, His tests are fair and his quizzes help to study for exams. One of the best!!!
i had him for calc 1 and 2. suaray is by far one of the most influencial professors ive had at CSULB. he makes something so boring and hard like calc so easy. he was made to teach math! home work due along with a quiz every wednesday. but it helps you stay ontop of the class.
Such a cool laid back professor from the hood. He actually teaches unlike some math professor. Dr. Suaray even show all the little step arriving to the solution. Just stare at the board and problem, and you should do fine in the class. Class can get boring sometime(showing easy problem), but there were a few hottie to look at when that happen.
This gangster teacher could teach, for real. Dr. Suaray shows all the step arriving to a problem, where students don't have to take notes as the material just sink into their mind. I think he wear a bullet prove vest, I think he is the deadly silent type, waiting to make his move, so don't mess with this dude. At least I learn a lot from Dr. Suaray
We're currently on the 5th week and I LOVE Dr. Suaray! He makes Calc 2 seem way easier than Calc 1!!! I highly recommend him!
Great professor highly recommend very help full quizes each week on homework problems.
beyond a GREAT prof! i am so sad he is not teaching calc 3 for spring because i would be in his class. he has a sense of humor which is good for a math class. RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER! you will not be disappointed
Great teacher, humorous (or tries to be), helpful, responsive, and easy on homework. Handwriting is a bit sloppy, but he's always willing to assist. Recommended if you like a more active teacher
This teacher is the best math teacher I have ever had. I had an A in the class all year but had an accident towards the end and he was so cool with making up all the hw and final. He explains everything step by step and makes sense of it all. Ive always been great with math but even the bad people who showed up and took notes passes with Bs.
The BEST math teacher he will go out his way to teach you I highly recommend him. He has 2 midterms, 1 final and a quiz every Thursday based on HW his exam are a little difficult but it is calculus 2
Best math teacher I have had! He gives weekly quizzes, but if you do the homework they are really easy. He is very approachable if you have a question He made the class fun. I would definitely recommend him!
Really good professor. Dr. Suaray is passionate about his work and it shows when it comes to his lectures. He is smart and always willing to help you out on a problem. He tries to make class interesting and fun. Good guy! Take him and you won't be disappointed.
One of the best Math professors. Easy on homework, gives weekly quizzes, sometimes goes fast on notes so listen and pay attention to him well. Very humorous and approachable, makes the class fun and Calculus easy to understand. 2 midterms and 1 final; if he says he'll make the practice midterms and final easy, expect them to be harder! :)
I took Suaray's class for session 1 in the summer. Attendance was a must. Quiz every week, with homework due as well. He gives practice tests for the actual tests. He says his handwriting was unclear, but I think it is clear to read.He helps you a lot, just go to his office hours.
This was his first time teaching 247 and it showed. He read from the textbook often without spending a lot of time on how to apply the material. He seemed lost the first half of the semester on how to teach the course. The class is definition and theorem heavy so any help from the professor is good. Visits to his office are helpful.
Good teacher. Respectful when answering questions and provided clear answers. Requires you to explore a bit of the material by yourself, especially through the self-created homework questions he assigns (however, most are from the book). Extra credit available on the tests! I wish he would have given more of the code necessary for SAS, though.
most homework is quiet easy, but you must keep an eye on the WebAssign and Aleks homework which is due without any reminders.
He's a nice fun professor. He made the math homework fairly easy and if you ever need help he'll stay after class to explain the problems. But for the sake of teaching, he will require you to do some thinking on your own. Overall he's a great teacher!
The best math professor I've had here at CSULB. He is seriously awesome, his lectures are extremely clear and he also allows us to understand what we are doing unlike other math professors who just go over the problems with little to no explanation. If you have the chance, please take him you won't regret it. His exams are hard but reasonable.
He is the best professor ever. He gives a lot of quizzes, but they are easy if you study the homework and know how to solve them. TAKE HIM AND YOU WILL LIKE HIM.
Suaray is one of the professors that really cares about your success. Calculus 2 is by no means an easy subject but he goes thoroughly enough to really understand at least the methodology for the course. Take him, do the online homework, and you will pass. He grades his tests with an emphasis on the calculus concepts rather than the algebra.
This was a tough class to teach but Dr. S taught it well. He was too lenient on everything with weekly quizzes, hw, and test. Great teacher.
Dr. Suaray is one of the best math professors I've ever had. He is very clear, his notes are great, and his class is entertaining. Here is a hint: most of his test questions out of the chapter reviews and his notes. Run through all those problems and you'll be golden!
He has three quiz and two midterms. He tries to do his best but you still may confuse about his lecture. I think he just does not know how to teach. He should make every concept more clearly. Always goes to his office hours that is very helpful. Final is not so hard compare to the midterm.
Dr. Suaray is very clear with his teaching. He uses particular notes from the textbook that are available to print out on BlackBoard so you don't need to buy the textbook. The pop quizzes and exams are easy if you study the notes. The online homework really helps you prepare for quizzes and exams. I enjoyed attending the lectures
Dr. Suaray is an amazing professor! He makes math interesting. He is very helpful and very understanding. Homework is WebAssign and ALEKS. ALEKS is a 6 week review of Algebra and they are due on Sundays at 12AM. He has 3 midterms and a cummulative final. STUDY the study guides. Rewrite lecture notes. Go to office hours. I would recommend him.
Very little partial credit and chained questions, meaning the following question will use the prior question's answer. This means that if you missed the prior question, you will miss this question also, resulting in a very poor grade even if everything is almost right.
I took Dr. Suaray class during winter session, which is not easy at all, but he was caring, understanding, helpful and was there when you need him to go over the material again. One of the nicest and smartest professors I've had at Long Beach State. A must take professor for Stat/Math, especially if you have trouble in math.
He is a nice guy and is always willing to help. his teaching is very clear and absolutely not boring. he has weekly homeworks (3-4 questions) and quizzes (1 or 2 easy questions explained before). 3 midterms and one final. he is very helpful and wants everyone to get good grades. would take him again anytime any class
Very good professor very respectful and willing to help each student, gives extra credit questions in all exams, curves up exams also, easy class
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Suaray. Yes, his exams are on the challenging side, but they're extremely fair if you put in the effort to study the concepts that he emphasizes in lecture. He is a fantastic educator who has a unique ability to elucidate very difficult mathematical and statistical concepts.
Suaray is an awesome Professor ! He was funny and was just a cool guy overall. He made a difficult subject like Stats really easy for me. He's really clear and you can tell he cares about the students' education. Would 10/10 recommend. There are 3 exams,1 final,3 quizzes, online hw, and 4 case studies which are like group projects. Would take again
i don't know what kind of message i have to write here , but he is the brother before a professor , wonderful lecture , i love him , respect him a lot , i want to take all my math classes with him , , he care , he know each person 100% , thank you DR. Suaray , the class is clear 100% , there is extra credits , write the notes , study the homework.
best math professor ever! great educator ! great person all around.
Dr. Suaray is very nice and very good at what he does. Stats 108 is not at all an easy class, in the beginning it may seem like a piece of cake, but later in the semester it'll get MUCH harder. Would definitely take again, and recommend him to others.
If you struggled with Statistics and are slow at understanding it, He uses a step by step approaches. Very helpful during office hours. Lectures, note-taking, and practicing will help you pass his class. He is not a hard teacher if you don't do your effort. Putting in the effort for his class is worth it and will definitely pass with a good grade.
He's a great teachers. Attend lecture, copy down the notes, and do the hw and you're solid. You def should buy his notebook because he goes along with it in his lecture.. just fill in the blanks. Very helpful during office hours as well. A lot of online hw, but he drops 4 assignments. 3 quizzes, 3 midterms, 3 group projects, and 1 final.
He's a great professor and so full of energy which makes stats not quite so boring. He makes everything so easy to understand and if you don't understand he's more than willing to help you. There's three midterms and they each have 10 points of extra credit on them. You will also have 3 group projects, but they're super easy.
He adds humor to lectures so it's easy to pay attention. GREAT professor, hard subject. He has a lot of easy points to bring your grade up. 3 midterms 1 final, online hw, group work. Very understanding and approachable. I would definitely take again even though math is my worst subject.
Professor Suaray is an amazing individual. He has a wonderful sense of humor, which makes lectures fun! USE THE WORKBOOK TO STUDY. He will tell you to work on certain problems in class. Practice those same problems because he usually puts those on the midterms. The practice problems on MyStatsLab don't really help. All in all, great instructor!
Amazing professor! He is willing to make sure his students understand the information but you must seek help first. He's funny and very down-to-earth, which makes his lectures both engaging and interesting. Not a difficult course at all; however, effort and consistency is KEY!
Best professor I've had @ CSULB. Amazing lectures and cares about students. Always available if you need help. Grades on exams, quizzes, case studies, and online homework. TAKE HIM!
Suaray is a great professor. Explains everything really well and if you don't understand something, he'll try to explain it to you. Would definitely recommend.
One of my favorite professors at CSULB so far. The lectures are never boring and he is very helpful. He does give homework but the homework is great practice for the exams. If you study for the exams, you will pass.
One of the best math teachers I've had for undergraduate and graduate work. He takes time to answer all your questions and is extremely helpful in office hours. His lectures can be hard to follow and he write a-lot during his lectures. You need to take notes and pay attention during lecture. He's generous with his partial credit.
His lectures are not boring and he explains each concept thoroughly. He helps prepare everyone for exams and the homework is actually really helpful for learning the concepts.
Dr. Suaray is a great professor. His lectures are very clear and concise and he goes further in depth than the textbook. Don't let his innocent smile fool you though! His tests are very challenging and he grades a little tough. All in all, he is patient, clear, fair, and he always makes himself accessible after class
He is an amazing and funny professor. I thought I could never do stats, but here I am getting an A because he explains concepts so thoroughly. SI instructors always offer extra office hours before quizzes/tests so you could go to them and get help. Case studies were easy but a pain because it's a group project.
You buy a fill-in-the-blank book where you take notes. The 3 quizzes are pretty easy (one page), he gives a study guide & answers for the 3 midterms which are almost identical to the test, & the 3 case studies are pretty easy. Study guide for final. Generous with extra credit. 36 homework assignments but only 30 are used in the grade. Easy 4 stats
Dr. Suaray was an amazing stats professor! I took stats 180 before and I got a D in the class so I was a bit anxious about taking it again, but Suaray showed me that it wasn't necessary to be. You should definitely attend lectures, do homework, and study! It'll all come in handy when taking quizzes and tests. Also, Suaray is hilarious!
Funny guy, teaches well, answers questions. Office hours help a lot if you are struggling in the class and also attending the tutoring sessions with the teaching assistant! Don't need to read the textbook. Offers extra credit points if you maintain your grade or bring your grade up. Offered 2 online extra credit assignments. Group projects are ok
He's a great professor. He is so funny and explains very well.
Great class. I did struggle at the end of the semester because it does start to get harder. During the semester there is 3 midterms, 3 quizzes, a group project and then homework assignments online. If you pay attention and do the homework on time, you should do fine in the class. Make sure not to get behind and always get help if you struggle.
Professor Suaray is great. Although the notes can be vague at times, hes always there for help. There are 3 midterms, 3 quizzes, 3 case studies, a final and weekly hw. He is very generous with extra credit and point opportunities. The subject can get difficult so stay on track.
I took Prof. Safer first semester and had to drop him bc he was so bad. Prof. Suaray was one of the best professors I had my first year of college. When he tutored me one on one or in a group it really helped a lot. Take him if you get the chance! He gives enough extra credit to move you up a letter grade!
Mr. Suaray is the best! I was nervous in the beginning of his class because I had a horrible experience in AP stats in Highschool but Mr. Suaray explains everything so well. His lectures & notes are amazing and great examples of the test. The online homework can be tricky but you can always go to office hours for help. TAKE HIM OR YOULL REGRET IT
Best professor I've taken! The subject is intimidating but going to tutoring with Professor Suaray really helps. Definitely recommend!
I had to take Stats to fulfill some pre-reqs for Grad school so you can only imagine how nervous I was coming into a math course considering I haven't been in a math class in over 4 -5 years. However, I AM SO GLAD I TOOK DR. SUARAY!! The class does get difficult at the end, so make sure you go to office hours! Take him you won't regret it!
One of the best professors I have had. He is funny and makes the lecture interesting. It is an overall learning experience. There are 3 Quizzes, 3 Midterms, 2 Case Studies and Web Assign homework. Study Guides are given. You have to practice and pay attention in class to get a good grade. I didn't buy the textbook as lecture notes are enough.
You have to be very organized to succeed in the course. You must print out notes on a weekly basis and make sure you keep these notes for tests and quizzes. You must go to class in order to pass, his office hours are also very helpful.
office hours are the key to success for this class! He is super helpful in office hours. You could ask for help with the online hw or anything else! free extra credit on tests. Weekly print out notes you do together in class and hes funny and smart. Really great professor
Dr. Suaray is such a nice professor! He cracks a lot of jokes which makes the class bearable. There's lecture notes to print out weekly and you have to stay organized in order to pass the class. The content after each midterm is more and more difficult so try your best to understand all the content after each class.
Stats 108 Course with Dr. Suaray, Definitely, well-explained math lectures and gives insightful knowledge to overall succeed in his course. I struggled with math, but now I am better at thanks to Dr. Suaray's helpful explanations in class and office hours.
The best STAT 108 professor there is. Really clear lectures, helpful in office hours, and exams are reasonable. It was really fun being in this class and for a semester, I stopped hating math. It's helpful to find a partner so you have someone to ask for help anytime and there's also group work.
Dr Suaray was an awesome Stats 108 teacher. Made class fun and engaging. The class is fast-paced but as long as you print the notes for each class and keep up with lectures you'll be fine. Tests are pretty straight forward, but if you don't take time to study outside of class, don't expect a great grade.
He isn't always clear during his lectures but if you go during his office hours, he clears things up better. He is also very straightforward about what the tests/quizzes will be on.
I was super nervous about taking stats 108, but being in this class with Dr. Suaray was the best decision ever! The class was indeed challenging, you need to come to class and probably have a partner, or go to office hours! He is very caring and is thorough in his instruction--the class is fast pace and cumulative! If you work for it you will pass
Super cool guy! He wants his students to succeed and if lucky, switch their majors to stats. Sometimes his lectures get confusing but don't be afraid to get help. You have to study in order to do well on his exams/ quizzes. Don't forget to do webassign hw!
Suaray is one of the best stats prof. out there. He knows how to teach the materials. He is patient and funny. His lectures are not boring. S/I also helps a lot. His class is not hard to get an A in. Usually, he uses problems from the notes he did not go over in lecture. Understand the concepts and get good grades on the tests and quizzes, fair A.
The notes were a "fill in the blank" paper that we had to print. Tests werent too difficult. He does a great job preparing students for quizzes and tests. He uses iclicker for taking attendance. Overall he was a fun professor. He was really chill and seemed like he liked doing his job.
He's a really cool and chill guy . I took Calc 3 with 2 other professors and failed but with him he explains things to the point and super clear. The class is curved overall so it's very doable to get a B. He's very interactive and likes when student participate. He's a stats professor but I think he's one of the best to Calc 3 professors at CSULB
I took this professor over the summer , and is a straight up the best Statistics professor at CSULB. Humble, hilarious, and a caring individual. His exams emphasizes more on theory , but are super fair if you put in the effort. Must take if you want to be a statistician !
I really like Dr. Suaray. He's one of the professors who has adjusted really well to online learning. His exams are difficult, but he's pretty lenient when it comes to partial credit. Class was curved so I really appreciated that. Overall, I would really recommend him. He's really chill and is always willing to help out and answer questions.
HE IS AWESOME! I dreaded stats, but his workbook made life so much easier and he is an awesome lecturer. TAKE HIS CLASS!!! (:
If you have an anxiety with math, this professor will magically cure it with his amazing humor and supportive personality. His lectures are easy to follow and if you are confused he will not fail to answer you. Attend his office hours if you are failing his exams and itll boost your grade up.
He is a very chill teacher; he always joke around with students. He is an amazing teacher. I had class on tues/thurs with him and you actually have to pay attention because he throws in 3 polls every class. He really tries his best to make sure his students feel confident in stats. I had lecture with valeria and she is the best too.
Really friendly and gives you chances to improve after tests! He's funny and it's easy to ask questions in the chat. Labs are where you really have time for understanding
I really enjoyed taking this class! Dr. Suaray is the nicest professor ever and he truly makes no question feel like a dumb one. He makes his own workbook and the tests and quizzes are mostly based on the examples they give in lab. Highly recommend taking him (and Val!) You do need to study to succeed but making study guides for the exams helps!
Absolutely brilliant professor who can teach a graduate level statistics course as if we are having a normal conversation. However ,his STAT 520 was the toughest class I have ever taken in my life .You MUST put in the effort in order to get a passing grade . Definitely my top three professors .Schedule your classes around him
Great professor ! He really cares about his students.
Dont know about past classes but online would not recommend. The book is horrible( no examples) no feed back on homework, you will never know what you did wrong because his assistant grade the homework and tests, maybe his face to face classes are different. Stay away!!!
Not a good professor to take because his PowerPoint book is the worst, no room to write notes, no examples. No homework feed back. take someone else if you want to learn and pass.
Super caring and passionate prof. Even online he makes class engaging and sometimes fun which is usually impossible since its math Its clear he wants the best for students and offers some EC Yes the workbook was formatted weird but that doesnt reflect/impact Suarays teaching He doesnt make it harder than needs to be and if anything makes easier
Best math class I've ever taken. He really takes the time to help you understand. You learn the math in lecture and practice during the activity. There is a bit of homework but nothing crazy. He really cares for his students and was understanding which is important for learning in a pandemic.
Bought the textbook and haven't really used it since all lectures are recorded and posted afterwards. Homework on WebAssign is easy. Exams are based on what you go over during activity so PAY ATTENTION IN ACTIVITY. Also if you feel like you might struggle, highly recommend taking STAT 90 too. Overall great prof! Def made stats enjoyable and easy!
I suck at math but he made me understand it easily. You must attend lectures because the poll questions are graded. Quizzes are a bit easy if you study. Tests are fairly simple as long as you put the work in to learn the material. He's always willing to help along with Andrew. Don't go to Manuel for help though. Sorry Manuel if you're reading this.
I took this class for the GE requirement and it was amazing. The professor was amazing and was passionate about statistics. 3 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. Do your homework and go to the activity for test reviews!! Overall, very fun teacher!
I am absolutely awful at math but the way Dr. Suaray teaches and the activities set up outside the class are so helpful. He is also so funny! Definitely take this course for your math GE!
Dr. Suaray is an amazing professor. He is clear with his lectures, assignments and grading. Dr. Suaray is accessible outside of class and at office hours. He is accommodating and always willing to work with you. His exams and quizzes are on topic and can be completed by studying no more than the lecture material. Show up and you'll do great!
Dr. Suaray is not just concerned about you knowing how to push formulas but uses what you know from previous courses (algebra, calculus, probability and statistics) to guide your thinking throughout the course. He was also very accessible during office hours. Make sure to take him if you have to take this course.
I HATE MATH! I was not excited to take this course WHAT SO EVER, but Dr. Suaray actually got me to enjoy it. He is such a down to earth, fun professor and he taught in a very nice fashion. He made sure everything was easy to understand and you could always go to his office hours if you needed a little extra help. 100% best math class ever taken!
At least attend the activity if not the lectures because activity helped quite a bit! I started not showing up to some lectures near the end, but the material taught was easy to get the hang of with practice. I enjoyed how Dr. Suaray was able to make his lectures fun whilst being informative, and also how he was able to relate to his students! :)
Lazy, he will waste your time in office hours, won't answer questions.
He consistently ensures that we grasp the material and encourages us to ask questions and challenge him to better understand. There are a lot of quizzes and several midterms, so make sure to keep track of them all. If you email him, he'll respond almost immediately and is always available during office hours. I would recommend taking his class.
Sets mirage of high standards he can't meet himself. Was never accessible for questions after class & when you did catch him in office hours he could not answer very clear & precise questions. The goal I noticed from various people seemed to get people to sign up for Masters program he is advisor for & disappear. Was actually very bad Advisor too.
Probably one of the best math teachers I've had as he made everything pretty straight forward and I was able to understand the material. If you have any questions he's always prepare to answer them or lead you in a way that answers your question. As long as as you pay attention in class and do the homework you should do well. Uploads practice exams
Look at ratings all for easy undergraduate classes, totally absent when you need him to explain anything. People who cheat or have better resources will do better in comparison to those who only have class notes and go to office hours which are a waste because he wont answer anything. He will even say in class to ask around... Not what I expected.
