It's a lot of information to cover but he gives extra credit opportunities so take advantage of them. The labs are sometimes long but they are a big part of your grade. He is really into what he does, young and overall a cool guy!
Great teacher, easy grader. All the questions from his tests come from the notes. Pay attention in lecture and go to all the labs, if you do you should get a good grade
The best class I ever had! Take notes and go to all the labs and you will be fine. The way Professor Morris teaches makes you want to learn all of the information. It also doesn't hurt that he's the hottest professor at Saddleback!
This class is difficult because the only things he grades on are the mid-term, lab, and final. Tests are very hard (but grades on a curve), some labs are in SD and there is no extra credit.Labs and lectures are a little boreing and seem to go on forever.
he's hot ;-) and he teaches well...take notes and study for tests, do the labs and you'll do well...he has cool field trips, he's very smart and funny too. it's a great class
This class is pretty easy, a midterm, final and one oral presentation. He's really nice and very clear. I found the class pretty interesting too. If you take notes and study them for the tests, then you will pass.
his class was interesting but his lectures were boring. his tests were hard but he goes really easy on you because most take it just to transfer. his labs and field trips are cool and hes pretty laid back.
Mr. Morris is the best teacher at saddleback, if you take any of his classes you will be stoked for sure. You learn a lot and it isn't that hard, just challenging enough to stay interesting. Cool feild trips and yeah, he's totally hot
such a nice guy. i loved this class. he is totally hot which is a motivation to go to class. very easy. just study a little for the tests and you get an easy A. if you are any kinds of smart and you want to up your gpa take this class, its awesome.
Professor Morris teaches with powerpoint presentations every class. He also uses videos, pictures, and diagrams of what you are learning about, i wish all classes were this way. Show up & take notes. i didnt even buy the book and got an A.
cool dude. lots of info to study for, but he is clear on what's on the mid term and final. really cool class. lab was long but bearable. he left one field trip to go surfing!! real laid back. smart guy! take his class, and you'll pass!
Kewl teacher, nice guy. He's a surfer lookin guy that talks softy, but he teaches very well- his power points are pretty good at getting your attention versus, listening to someone the whole time. Do the labs, and take notes- you're bound to getting a A
Kalon is a great guy, well educated, takes classes on fun field trips. No homework, just do well on the test and go to lab and you will pass
Mr. Morris was an awesome teacher. Went on fun field trips, but make sure you go to lab. looks like a student and a nice guy.
Mr.Morris is a great teacher! He is very clear and explains things in ways that can be understood, not to mention how attractive he is!
Professor Morris is the greatest teacher. He is real nice and his class is always interesting. I highly reccomend him.
Prof. Morris is a totally cool guy, but his lectures can get kind of boring. His class is pretty easy in itself, just make sure you go to lab. He does Oral Exams now where he asks you the question and you just tell him the answer using your own words. Its pretty cool and it upsets of the admin.
this is a waaay chill teacher. Lectures are interesting and he explains things really well. Go to lab and take notes in lecture you will get an A. he also does oral exams where he givbes you the answer and you get an A. Take this class
Great professor, he is realing nice. You learn alot and he makes it very interesting. I highly reccomend him as a professor. You will really enjoy his class.
Morris is helpful and interesting, his class is all lecture w/a few field trips. Take very good notes & pay attention. Never miss a lab since your lab book is 40% of your grade. One of the easiest science classes I ever took, but you still need to show up and work to get an "A".
Kalon is a great teacher who has a lot of knowledge to offer - coming from SCRIPPS san diego. Very helpful and very, very clear. Gives great reviews for final, and has fun and easy labs. Go and listen and you should get a least a B. Best new teacher at saddleback.
Super cool teacher, young and full of up to date information. answers any questions you have, even if you email him. Highly recommend any of his classes because he teaches about what he loves, the ocean and weather.
Get real! It's a watered down "high school" level class - never meets for the full session; oral exams. It may be an "easy" A from an "easy" instructor, but what happens when none of the schools we are transferring to will accept it because is doesn't meet the transfer standards???
If you REALLY want to learn about marine science this guy is NOT the one..easy..sure..but for what I paid I did NOT get my $ worth...too busy being "cool" and "hip" to really teach the subject matter in depth.
Kalon is such a good teacher. He's a surfer nerd and knows everything. There's 2 tests, a few field trips, a 3hr lab every week, but pretty easy and really fun. The ppl that were complaining don't seem to realize that he has to be general and not go into detail because there's way too much info to cover and not enought time to go over everything.
I'm not sure whether it is my own immense difficulty w/science or Morris' methods of online instruction (or lack thereof); I had to drop it. Recorded audio lectures would have helped, as class is completely independent study which is near-impossible for a sci lecture, IMO. Can't imagine relying solely upon reading the text to learn.
He's a really nice guy. Incredibly smart and cute. Good science class to take if you don't really like science.
The people that are saying bad stuff are pathetic. Yes the class is transferrable, yes it's easy. Kalon is incredibly knowledgable and loves oceanography. Don't complain because he's a great guy and he makes the class fun. And as for being too vague, do you really want a class that spends 3 weeks going over the properties of water? Don't think so.
Professor Morris is very passionate about what he does. The field trips were fun and the labs were entertaining when you take into account that they are for a bio-science class. His tests are tough, but his review lectures cover pretty much everything on them.
Kalon is a very cool guy and, like others have said, is very passionate about what he teaches. The subject matter can be dry at points, but Professor Morris attempts to add a little color to the material. I took marine biology in high school and was expecting this class to be similar. But this is physical science, not biological.
He is a great teacher, he's so smart about this kind of stuff, its crazy, you could ask him anything and he could just give you an educated answer based on his knowledge...if you aren't super into it like he is it might get a bit boring at times, but at least he's a young guy with energy and not some old fart droning on for an hour and a half!
Best science professor

Great professor! There is alot of information but he makes it very clear. He is extremely well qualified and can always answer your questions. He makes lectures pass by fast and has graphs and pictures and clips to show you to help better understand the material. Great grade system 80% is an A. 2 tests (mid and final) Challenging but fun course.
FUN teacher. nice guy. Always 5-10 minutes late and lets you out early. surfs and travels, loves to talk about both. Go to class, take notes. Easy labs. He tries to make them fun and interesting. Class is graded on a curve.
Great Professor.
Great professor. He made it very interesting, and lectures go by fast. Field trips and labs are fun and interesting. Barely any homework at all. :)
Was this a great guy or what? Lectured straight off the textbook, tested straight off the textbook. Nice guy. Some humorous moments I recall include him peeking at his discreet index card in his pocket during lectures to go off of, & telling us a story about how his roommate threw their friend through a glass screen door during the Super Bowl.
29 yrs old. Studied at Harvard. Surfs, shy, and uses cue cards. Study your material and you will succeed.
Weather and Climate Internet Course. Must work hard and read textbook clearly to get A. Must have dedication to work on a regular basis, can't get behind. Professor is there to help when you have a question, via email, yet his responses are often shorter than you would like, yet probably comes with the fact we're not in a real class setting.
Labs and Field trips are fun and interesting. Lectures straight from book so no need to buy the book. There is alot of material to be studied. About 4 pages front back of notes per week. If your able to take in that much information and have it for the AC****LATIVE final, then this class might not be as difficult for you.LAB WILL BOOST YOUR GRADE
This class is a good physical science course b/c the labs are somewhat interesting and their are 3 field trips, including a cruise and a trip down to the beach. Lectures are alright, but tend to get boring b/c of his monotone voice. There are 2 mid-terms, and final worth 40% grade. Lab manuals will help your grade and he grades on a 10% curve.
ok so he's nice and everything but it is a lot of information and you have to know the main concepts. tests are hard. study.
Legit teacher. Professor Morris is chill considering how much material there is to go over and how boring it can get. 3 or 4 field trips which are sick, like trips to San Clemente Beach or Scripps Aquarium... pretty rad. Re-uses certain questions from previous midterms, so study your tests! Show some respect to him and he'll do the same to you!
The best class of my semester! If you love the beach, I highly reccomend this course! Full of very interesting information, you'll learn a lot! Prof Morris is cool, but can seem a bit monotone at times. Field trips are awesome, labs I found to be on the boring side. Be sure to study previous tests. Taking good notes is essential, no need for book.
he is the coolest teacher of the semester. i loved how he reviewd every time about the lecture before. lectures are long but he exlpians how and why very clearly and he makes it easy to understand. be there for the labs they are fun and interesting and help explain and put a visual in your mind. feild trips are fun. TAKE THE CLASS!!!
Walks the entire classroom during lecture, very boring and there is alot of information. He gives you a ton of info and expects you to study it all for the test. Labs are cool and fun. He is interesting if you like science.
If you dont like science MS20 is a great class because its all about the ocean. I never liked biology but i really learned a lot in this this class, its not easy but all science classes are demanding. In this class there is no homework, all the grades are adjusted and you can get an A with an 80% in the class, field trips are fun, and hes a hottie.
Good teacher, but his lectures seemed to drag on for hours. The labs were okay, it was nice having a visual aide at times. To be honest, I dreaded his class every week. Field trips were fun, but only because you were distracted half of the time by fish, and weren't really paying any attention...
Highly recommend going on his field trips- we had a lot of fun and he was really laid back the whole trip. I defintely plan on going on another one because it was one easy unit, all you have to do is take some notes and pictures and make a trip journal.
He's really laidback and cool. I definitely recommend him. I would take his lectures online. you dont even need to read the book, just pay attention to the lectures
Horrible teacher. He's not helpful. He speaks down to you. 1 of the worst teachers I have ever had.
Kalon is incredibly intelligent and really enjoys explaining sciency things to his students. Despite his incredible educational background, he is not pretentious and makes geology as enjoyable as it can. Kalon is HOT and extremely caring. Hope to take another field study with him soon! ;)
Prof. Morris is probably one of the best teachers i have ever taken. He is passionate and extremly knowledgable about the subject! Attendance is not mandatory but highly reccomended, your midterms and the final are based souly off the lectures. Never even touched my text book.
not helpful at all. investigaion manual never explained. No clear direction given. Extremely frustrating. This kind of teacher makes you want to never wnt to go to school. Poor communication skills. No interest in students. Always annouced changes wa too late. Changed final date and assignments du date. Terrible teacher.
(Hybrid) I don't like this class, the labs are lame and SO boring. His voice is really annoying. He seems like a nice guy though. You have to put in as much effort as possible to try to get an A. I learned a lot, but I wouldn't take him again. Take this if you don't want to take harder science classes. Tavares reager is nice but she gets confused.
(Hybrid) This class is horrible. I dread it and HIM! He's rude and he thinks he's funny when he's not. Field trips are not fun - don't listen to people. You seriously listen to his annoying voice and look at the water to distract yourself, and pray you get cell service.I don't suggest this class!
Took the hybrid class with Morris & Passarelli. Online section with Morris is horrible. So much work, strict grader, offers no feedback as to why you did poorly. His video lectures put you to sleep. The content is so far above what a science class at Saddleback should be. He needs to go teach at an Ivy League school. Don't buy the book, don't need.
Excellent teacher. He makes the information easy to understand and his field trips are awesome. The tests are a little difficult but if you study you shouldnt have a problem getting an A. The entire class is on a curve, I got a 78% and still got an A. His labs are a little boring but overall I really enjoyed this class. VERY little use of textbook.
He is really bad at getting back to you through email- I don't usually have to, though, I took his class in online format and everything is explicitly stated. His online modules are open less than one week, late Wed-late Mon. Nothing is available for review after the submission date, only the graded assignments; which he doesn't comment on.
This man is very nice and is passionate about was he does. However, he is NOT tech savvy AT ALL so taking his online course very frustrating. Videos are hard to load. It's the end of the semester and he still hasn't graded homework from week 2! And he will NEVER email you back. So, at this point, I have no idea how I'm doing in this class. A?! D?!
very helpful. the field trips and labs were so much fun. the tests are really hard if you study his notes and do the questions at the end of the chapters in the book you should be fine.
Took the hybrid class. His portion of the class was awful. He is always late posting homework but still left the same due dates. Frustrating...I thought the class was easy (others struggled)...except the fact he was late. This had an impact on my grade & dropped me to a B. Students are clueless. Good lab partners are hit & miss. Field trip issues.
Prof. Morris is a great teacher! He can explain science concepts better than any other teacher I've had. And he relates the material to things you know about, like going to the beach, whenever possible.
I am surprised to see people give Mr. Morris average ratings. I just finished his class, and I can say that he is one of the best professors I have ever had. He knows his material very well and does an excellent job at explaining it. If you go to his lectures and labs, you will get an easy A. I would type more if I could.
Interesting class! Lots of terms to know but if you write down what he says in class it will be exactly what you will find on the test. He usually repeats definitions in other words (that's when you know that content will be on test) Don't miss class, labs and field trips and you'll get an A. I was very pleased with this professor.
Weather & Climate Online Course. This class might be easier in person and you must read the texts with a fine tooth comb. The Professor is there to help when you have a question (email), however his responses are often shorter than you would like -and he takes a long time to post grades so you have no idea where you stand.
He was a really good teacher. He made the lectures interesting and easy to understand. I really liked the class, three tests throughout the semester, they were ok as long as you study. He was pretty funny, and always let us out early. I would recommend taking his class.
Professor Morris made the class interesting and easy to understand. Field trips were fun. 2 midterms and 1 final, which were not too difficult as long as you take good notes and study. Dont buy the expensive book from the book store. You can use an older edition of the textbook for a much cheaper price. I would recommend taking his class.
Professor Morris was an amazing teacher. He always made lectures interesting and easy to understand. He is a really easy grader too, 80 and up is considered an A in the class. We went on two field trips, and they were laid back and fun. Never used the book, just take notes during lecture and use that as your study guide.
Honestly one of my favorite classes I've ever taken. I'm a math major and took this class for the lab credits but he made oceanography super interesting. The labs are super fun and lectures aren't bad. If you go to lecture and lab you'll pass the class easily. Tests are straight from what he talks about in the lecture. TAKE!
Toughest class to take online + summer. He is not helpful and does not go out of his way to make sure students understand. Provides no helpful lectures or links. Relies SOLEY on textbook work for learning. NO audio/visual lectures. Hard to grasp just by reading. Everything is independent. Even if your a science person, its difficult.
Completely self taught class; read and answer questions no professor needed. No valid additional material to explain, what is probably difficult for most students to grasp, or support read material. Textbook is a Meteorologist's manual which is very difficult to understand. No feedback on classwork. Don't take this class online!!
Don't take this course online! Strictly reading the text and answering questions from what you read. No helpful lecture notes to explain a very difficult text! You're basically teaching yourself, ridiculous that you have to pay to take this class when the professor does nothing. Too much homework and labs included when its a no lab class!
He loves what he teaches but the way that he teaches is a bit difficult to understand. Instead of lecturing he will ask the class questions and people are afraid to answer. The field trips are fun and easy and the labs are easy as well, just the midterms and the final are a bit on the more difficult side. Its more explaining than facts.
I took his class because I thought Weather and Climate would be interesting, and it probably is, but its incredibly BORING in this class!! Just reading and tests, reading and tests... and on top of that , he hasnt graded any of my tests past week 2, so no idea how Im doing or what I need to study for Finals. Incredibly poor teacher!!
If you need a credit for any class taught by Professor Morris, take his class. He is very good at what he does, and he always takes the time to explain something if you do not understand it. Very kind with his grading criteria as he understands it is a difficult course!
Even though he doesn't take role, showing up to lectures will guarantee a good grade. The exams come right from his lectures and he tells you whether or not you should write notes on parts of his lecture or not. also an 85% in the class is an A, 75% is a B and so forth. Field trips are super fun and labs are super easy.
This was a super fun class! Highly recommend to take with friends though. This class can be a lot if you don't put in at least some study time outside of class. Don't be afraid to ask questions--he loves it. Come prepared to take notes bc he doesn't post them anywhere online. The tests were kinda hard, but lets you see scantron/wrong answers after.
Took GEOL 7 online course at Saddleback College. I never took an online course, and I was really nervous for all the difficulties of it, but Prof, Morris was great. He is Straightforward in what he assigns and grades. I liked how he had homework assigned over the weekend and due on Thu. I would recommend this class to anyone who needs science class
Professor Morris was basically all textbook, which I like. All I had to do was thoroughly read through the book online and answer questions that could easily be found in the book. I did spend much more time on his class than any other online class but it was fine. Sometimes he made online lectures, most of the time not.
If I could look up the definition of a terrible teacher on urban dictionary, theres a solid chance of Kalon Morriss name appearing. He provides no help at all, requires you to do homework that is based on chapters with 40-90 pages of info, and hasnt graded any of the homework since Oct 24th. Its already Dec 6. Complex class, dont take
Nice guy and is knowledgeable about the class, but his lecture style is very hard to grasp. Notes arent posted anywhere online and lectures are just based on listening to him speak. Very hard to follow him and its very easy to miss something. Tests are very hard. Short answers can kill your grade. As long as you go to lab and class, you will pass
Weather and Climate could have been a good class. Do not take this online. Teaching yourself from a meteorologist's textbook is not easy. Professor did not provide detail on Lab/Investigations material so you are on your own. If you take online, find a study mate because you will need one!
Mr. Morris makes it very clear what he expects from a class. If you ask questions, he will answer and he repeats the same concepts in different ways and words so that students understand. Easy A,just pay attention and take NOTES. He is concept focused, not small details like dates/ years, etc.(big concepts what you will be tested on)nice guy too!
This class is easy as long as you can pay attention and take the notes. Also expect group projects with the labs. Super chill teacher. HIGHLY recommend.
Unfortunately, he never responded to my emails until days later even though the syllabus says he responds within 24-48 hours. I needed help with my grade and he did not care about my academic goals at all. Just hoping I pass:(.
Self-taught class. Took it over the summer and the workload was more than my other classes. He did have some lecture videos and slides to go over some concepts, but for the most part, you learn from the book. He was slow to respond to emails and oftentimes was shorter than I expected. Interesting class, but hard if you don't know much about science
Overall this was an easy class. My problem lies in the fact that the teacher had specific due dates but wouldnt unlock the material on time. It was supposed to be opened on a certain day and we would have a week to work on it. Today makes the 4th time this semester that he has opened the chapter more than 3 days late without changing due date.
Probably the worst class and the worst professor I had in my life. You basically have to teach yourself, and he doesnt grade anything until the end of the semester, so you have no idea what your grade would be until the end. Grading is even worst. I submitted the same answers as his textbook answers, and he never gave me full credit for anything.
I honestly had a really easy time in this class.
online lecture consists of 2 year old youtube videos he recorded at the beginning of covid. hasnt graded assignments from 2 months ago. show up for lab and you get credit. it was an easy class for the most part but i wouldnt take again. i think he checked canvas once every other week at the very most.
Prof. Morris is great for everyone who wants to learn. He knows so much about the earth, ocean, and atmosphere; and makes it very easy to understand. You don't have to do any math, he teaches the concepts. If you pay attention you will pass.
Was an easy class with interesting labs. The only problem is sometimes the week's assignment would be uploaded late, giving us less time to do the work, but the workload wasn't too much for that to be a problem. Make sure to take notes.
He does not do a good job at teaching students but loves to grade you low. I regret taking his class and lost any interest in the course.don't take his class.
Morris' teaching style consists of very broad lectures, no notes, and powerpoints with images only. It is bery difficult to follow along and grasp the information in the way that he teaches it.
He was a solid professor, and had a solid class. Greatest benefit by far is his grading with 84.5-100% being an A. Was really really slow in posting grades, I had to email him saying I needed grades published. Just turn your assignments in on time and try and it will be fine.
I took this class asynchronous. There was not much homework. Every week there was at most a chapter assignment which was reading a chapter in the book (he gives you a pdf) and answering up to 7 questions about it to Turnitin. And a CWS quiz which was an interactive worksheet. 85% and above is an A. Just beware of some reading.
Taking his online class. As a 4.2 cumulative student in high school and on the in road of college-- one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. U have to teach urself. Hasnt graded anything from beginning of october and its near the end time of his class and no grades have been put up yet. Also ABSURD amounts of reading.
Super chill professor - made it really easy to follow along. Pay attention, take notes, and study hard for tests as there will be information that was not covered in class. Definitely seems to have a genuine love for what he's teaching. Textbook readings weren't that important if you paid attention well to lectures. Would totally take again!
Grades on a generous scale: an A is 85%, B is 75%, C is 65%, D is 55%, and below 55% is an F. Lowest assignment is dropped. Doesn't grade until the last minute at the end of the term, but it doesn't really matter because he gives you 90% or above on all of your assignments. Final exam is multiple choice and online. He sounds like the nerd emoji.
I really enjoyed the content provided in this class, but there's just a lot of reading & writing to do every week. Just make sure you meet the deadlines and write in detail for the chapter questions. 85% or above is an A.
Professor Morris makes the course engaging and accessible. While lectures can be broad, pay attention, take notes, and utilize study aids like Unstuckstudy to succeed. Overall, an easy A if you put in the work.
I took this class to expand my own knowledge. I Was disappointed to see that the class is essentially entirely reading out of a textbook and answering at the end of the week. Lectures were not comprehensive, he was far behind in grading, and I received no feedback on my work. This class is not hard if you like reading textbooks.
Great guy, he really wants you to do well and will help you if you ask. Tests are super hard and worth a lot. I'm not a STEM major but I left this class understanding a lot more about the ocean, he teaches in a way that will stay with you. Totally recommend if you can commit to the class. Also, SUPER cool field trips!
A great professor would recommend it to anyone interested in geology
VERY reading heavy and very slow to respond to messages. Don't be shocked if your hw doesn't get graded for weeks. He's not the hardest grader, though, so I'll give some grace. It's a bare bones online course, but you'll be ok if you're diligent with reading. I'm sure Prof. Morris is really nice irl, but this was not my favorite online class lol
Takes months to grade and by the end of the semester most assignments still weren't graded. Very hands-off class with barely any updates. Lots of Turnitin submissions. Wouldn't take again.
Absolutely loved his class! There defintley is a lot of lectures but the homework to in class work ratio is great. Super funny and relaxed teacher and was always understanding if i needed to leave a couple minutes early. 10/10 teacher and class if you're looking into marine science.
He was an amazing teacher! He gave us what was on each test in lectures. For the lectures he will tell you exactly what will be on the test and what won't be. For the labs, he walks you through them. As long as you take notes and show up it will be easy to pass
