Hajallie is nuts. do NOT take him. He has failed entire classes.
This man is good. However, he is overly optimistic towards his students and can give us some insanely difficult and 'foreign' problems to work with. If learning is your interest, this is your man. YOU CANNOT COAST IN HIS CLASS. I HAVE TRIED.
He is insanely hard if you think about taking any math courses do not i repeat do not take him if you plan to pass and progress in the math courses
if you want to know foreign math then take this class w/kamal hajalie
He has to step down whereever he is onto earth.
He is an excellent professor, but gave us really tough tests. Take his class only if you are good at Math!!!
Hard to keep up with what he's teaching. He knows his subject extremely well. Tests are hard, but if you really want to learn the class is worth it. Easy Grader ;) (if that helps)... I highly recommend it if your up to the challenge.
Extremely clear and accurate in his description of concepts in his subject, Mathematics. Very challenging but prepares you well for his challenge.
hard working student will be benefit from him; but be careful his course can easily lower the GPA
It was fun having Dr. Hajallie, he explained everything clearly and his tests were challenging. I would take him again :)
It was a great experience having Dr. Hajallie, he taught us a new approach to math then I was used to. He taught very clearly and was willing to explain. His tests were short yet challenging. I would take him again :)
if you want to become a math teacher take his class oterwise choose somebody else. he is very hard
Excellent prof., knows exactly what he is teaching
he is good in teaching and i had fun in his class.
He is a math genius. He teaches us very step by step and very clear. however test is too hard. Precalculus seems Calculus level. I though i was good at math because i got a full score on SAT math. OK. If you are really good at math, take his class otherwise you are going to fail.
He is the best prof. in my life.
he is the prof. who i want. Yes, His class needs a lot of effort and he is so busy has no time say in the office, but he is prefect. I recomemd if you want to learn real math and have conficence about yoursef, you can think about to take his class. if you want to just pass the class then forget about take his class.
nice prof.
He is a good guy, I was very sick during his class and I couldn't study for the Final exam so What I did was I just returned the book as it is and He has given me an Incomplete, though I wasn't expecting. I thought He would give me a F but he was lenient about it, though I missed his his 5 classes and failed one of his tests , then was absent 4 ant

this is the professor you should choose if you really want to chanllgen your math!!! I love the way his math joks and his clear illustration! i had some tought time through the semester, however, i enjoyed mat201 with his so much! he is flexible, if you do extramly well in final you will get a good garde he is a fair grader!
I had him my first semester at LAGCC. He was a great professor. Explained everything with detail and clarity. I think he only taught 095 my first semester, but I hoping to have him again for my other math classes. Great professor.
He is an excellent teacher. If you want to learn something, take his class. I believe if you don't like math and take his class, you would like it. If you try to pass the class, you would. thanks proffessor "Hajallie"
He is full of attitude. He thinks he is teaching in IVY League and he is The Prof Nash. Because of him including myself, a lot of student drop the class not because it is difficult, because he is rude and full ego. I think he is short and he has little hands, makes him insecure amd agressive:)
If you want to learn something about calculus, take this professor. Explains concepts very clear and assigns helpful HW. Old school professor......
Take him if you are in a Math or Engineering major! He explains everything crystal clear. But you have to work hard because his tests are difficult...! A great professor for someone who wants to learn math!
He is an awesome professor. Very clear and helpful. His attitude is really funny. I highly recommend him.
Excellent Professor. If you take his class you have to understand everything to be able to pass his test are HARD, everything he teach is in the test and the FINAL.
if you are good at writing about history of imaginary numbers, that will be fine. he didn't show how to solve the test 1 through 4 and no review too. one thing i knew was i solved the problems wrongly in the test. i didn't know the right answers until class was over. I was in blurry in taking that class.you need to read through the book yourselves.
He's always disorganized whenever he attempts to explain topics, which is I didn't do that good on his tests. And he is sometimes irascible. If you want to take a math class with him, do not take it with this guy!
Hajallie, may be rude at first but he's a good Prof. He knows his material to the point that he loves it. He's a extremely hard grader on exams and he will tell you what you did wrong. If you're looking for an easy class, DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you're looking for a prof. that will test you're limits, then by all means go but IMO, don't
I took the mat 201 last semester, and it was such a great experience all because of prof. Hajallie. Watching him teach with such a precision and clarity was really inspiring. I didn't want to miss a single class. No matter what level of knowledge you have in mat prof.Hajallie should be your first pick, trust me on that.
horrible
if you are not familiar about calculus I, dont take this professor. He is the chair and busy and has no time to help you. You may get to the F line automatically.
Great! Clear & educative lectures, you will learn a lot from him. You have to really know the material for a good grade. Take good notes and review them, he starts each class with "wake-up problems". Doesn't give much homework, but you should practice on your own in order to really master mat200. 2 midterms, 2 educo quizzes, 1 final. Don't be late!
He is a great professor for someone who wants to learn math.If you have intention to get easy grade with less effort, please don't take him.You will have to withdraw the class or you will fail if don't go to take tests without enough practice. If you love math and really want to learn something, take him.
He is a great professor! just dont skip classes and do your homework!!! Thank you professor!
this professor makes so many harsh comments about the math level of the students. he is very straight forward. he cares a lot about the attendance. you must have the book since day one.
All in all, this professor isn't bad, but you should have some knowledge of calculus1 before u sign up, or you're gonna have a bad time.
Horrible. Do not take him. His exams are brutal. He is very strict. More than half the class fails when they take him. Avoid!!!
terrible. the only way you gonna pass his calculus class is by knowing calculus before his class. btw what he gives in the test are not what he teaches in the class; the teats are way harder than the textbook and his examples. The only reason you want to take his class is you want to learn math for real.
He is a tough professor. His class is the way to actually learn math. He is hard because he wants you to learn. You must study very hard to pass this class. He is the best professor to take if you are an engineering major. He really knows his stuff, and he is very willing to help. He can be a bit harsh, but he means well.
He's a great math professor but strict. He is very on point with examples during lessons. He's strict about punctuality. His downhills are that he gives harder questions on his exams. I wish he would give those hard examples in class. Also leaves too much gaps between exams. If he'd give quizzes inbetween, that would make it easier on the student.
Trust me he is the best math Professor at LAGCC. His tests and exams are hard but that is the way you learn. If you are interested in math and willing to work take him. Don't expect to get an easy grade. He makes you learn!
Professor Hajallie teaches with passion, clarity and humor. He's the best professor for math!!! Pay full attention, you'll be tested on what he teaches. He gives hints for what will be on the tests. If you don't practice daily, you won't pass the tests. He will teach you how to study for anything, not only math. Pay attention, practice and practice
He's a mathematician of the highest degree. He will not coddle you, he will not baby you. He teaches you how to think, not memorize. Engineers are encouraged to take this class. Kamal may kick your ass in math but you'll never leave his class saying he never taught you Calculus. *taking him again when i get the chance*
If you have a PhD and teach a class of 32 students, and six weeks later you end up with 13 students and out of those 13 students, only 2 are passing and the rest are failing, that should tell you a lot about this so called doctor, don't you think? Stay away from this guy, he ruined many above 3.5 GPAs
He is the best professor at LaGuardia. I took cal I and II with him. I learned a lot and received A. He is well organized. He can connect every topic very well, like a "flow". Can get enough from his classes, but he doesn't teach cal III or above.
Please stay away from this guy, he will fail you. My entire class failed. He doesn't follow the syllabus. He feels like he the rules doesn't apply to him. You won't have the same advantage as any other Precalculus classes at the school. No graphing calculator allow, no projects, no reviews, no homework graded. You're on your own! I warned you!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You will loose your money, time and GPA! He is not hilarious at all, not helpful in anyway! We all know that professor's write themselves great reviews here too. You will fail unless you know Precalculus before taking his class, but then are you supposed to know it if that's what you're paying someone to "fail" you?
Compared to shenglan yuan he is a much better professor Its tru he does make you think and work. If you are on your game, study, become one with the material, memorize it then you are bound to pass his class. Show motivation, determination confidence, that you want to improve via exam grades, and he will work with you. Its not easy study it pays off
Prof. Hajallie is a good teacher. He is very demanding but it's for the right reasons. I had to work very hard for my A but it made me feel well-prepared for my upcoming 201 class. At times he gets aggravated too easily and is quick to judge, but overall he's goodhearted and a fair grader. You can tell that he loves math and knows it inside out.
Prof. Hajallie is one of best professors Ive taken as a college student. A lot of people are leaving negative comments about taking class with him but those are the same people who just expected to show up to class and recieve an A. If your not interested in actually learning something or challenging yourself then I recommend not taking his class.
This is my favorite professor. His lessons are interesting, he is very detailed and has great approach to every topic. He will teach you how to think logically and give you amazing foundation for mat 202. Calc 1 is an advanced class, so make sure you know your algebra, you attend all his lessons, do the homework and you are getting an A.
unclear
The best math professor in LAGCC. He is very good at teaching and is very clear. You will understand every little thing but his tests are really hard. Be prepared for his tests and always do his homework because all of his tests are from the homework.
I've taken Calculus before, and while I understood the concepts I didn't really understand all the foundation of it. Hajallie makes you LEARN and prepares you to answer any mathematical problem, not just with laws and equations but with teaching you how to approach a problem. DO NOT underestimate the hw or the tests though.
This is the only professor in LAGCC for whom I would like to leave a feedback here. Tough grader, but you will love him. Try your best to learn from him, then you wouldn't be afraid of any math courses in four-year college.
WARNING! He assigns a lot of homework, but never collects/grades them. If you're walking in late, he will embarrass you in front of the class. He does not give extra credit nor does he "believe in reviewing for tests" so we fail. Class started out packed with 30 students, half dropped out. Wish I had read these reviews, my GPA would still be 4.0.
Professor hajallie is one of the best professors in Laguardia Community College. If you really want to learn then take his class. If you do the homework assigned by him, you will get an A. And also once you take his class you will not be afraid of any math course.
Besides making students feel dumb and stupid, his tests are extremely hard. His teachings involve lecturing the fundamental ideas of the topic followed by simple problems. Then for hw he has students answer questions in the textbook which are usually much harder than what we had just learned. Then the questions on the test are VERY hard.
He know how to teach but when it comes to tests. They are extremely hard. He wants everything to be perfect. You make on little mistake then u get no credit. Class started out full and end with 7 student and only 3 of them passed
If you want to learn math, you should take class with him. He explains math very well.
OK I probably have the most to say about him its because I got to know him a lot better than the other students who ended up complaining a lot about him. But hear me out. He is a GREAT professor. Would I take him again? YES. Even though he is a tough grader if you follow his class and not skip any day you'll be fine. Just have patience with him.
Hajallie is an excellent professor, he explain things very clear on the concept of mathematics. His test can be very difficult, but if you understand the homework, you may be fine on his test. He can be very strict, however, if you do well on his test and the final, you can feel confident on harder math courses
This class is impossible. Professor makes test too hard! He is good at math but very moody and he grades terrible. Effort means nothing you have to understand everything in order to pass errors aren't allowed. There are also no breaks in his class.
if you want to fail take his class. on your first day you will understand what kind of disaster you are getting into. i dont understand why laguardia still have this guy. rude as hell no respect for students.
Hajallie is one of the best professor I have ever had in Laguardia! His lectures are brilliant and the way he teaches is unique and very understandable! Make sure you sit in the front so you can catch up with everything he says. His test are very straight forward! He says what questions will be on test but he doesn't give a review. Brilliant profes
I loved Hajallies class. He makes you work for your grade and its worth it. I feel more comfortable with math than ever before and I'm so glad i took his class. He's a very funny and easy going guy. Don't take his criticism too harshly, he means well.
I didn't like math in high school because I didn't understand it. However, after I took Calculus 1 with Pr. Hajallie, math became my favourite subject. I finally understood where all these formulas came from because Pr. Hajallie explained all formulas and theories very clear. On the test he gave us questions simular to homework. Love this professor
Great experience! !!
Dr. Hajallie is the best professor for math, his syllabus are very unique in the way he teach and the grades for his class is only base on the test. His class are very hard but that's the way you actually learn math because Hajallie makes you LEARN. If you do well in his class, it will benefit you in the future when you take harder math courses.
Hajallie is one of the best professor for math, he explains everything very clear and make sure you know what he says and do the homework assigned by him. The test is very similar to homework problems that he assigned
Excellent experience!
If you want to do well in future math courses, you should take his class because he explains math concepts very clearly. Then on the test he gives questions similar to homework and if you do well enough in his class, it will help you do well in future math courses, excellent professor
If you want to ruin your GPA, go ahead and take Hajallie!!!
he is sarcastic a lot you can say about 80% of the time but if you do the homework and pay attention you can pass don't be afraid to ask questions ,he seem tough but he means well would take him again .also you have to be always on time if your not that type of student don't take him
yo his tests are very hard. He's the worst professor ever! DO NOT TAKE HIM
Please do not take him because his class is super hard and will make you super stressed. A lot of people dropped his class so do not ruin your GPA by taking his class, and yeah his tests are super hard.
Agreed, he is a tough grader, but it is worth of it. He makes you to study. His lectures are easy to understand, though the material is hard. If you do well in class and do your homework, the tests are easy - he doesn't give anything he didn't go through. The final was easier than expected.
Best calculus professor you can take.
Awesome professor, his class is the class you actually learn math, even though I didn't get the grade that I wanted in his Calculus 1 class, but it actually helped me a lot to do well in Calculus 2 with different professor and then I get an excellent grade in Calculus 2, excellent professor
Great guy. Hard exams. Teaches well. Angry to often smile more. tough grader to the point you'll most likely fail. Cares about his students. Doesn't negotiate grades no curve nothing after the hell I went through. I feel depressed after taking his class. Great guy though expects a lot more his students because he cares.
His explanation is very clear and he is always ready to help. Be on time. Don't skip class otherwise you won't be able to catch up.
he is very knowledgeable, and he knows how to teach. Highly recommended
He is an amazing teacher but he is barely friendly. Students are afraid of him because he has his own way of teaching and talking to students. If you take him, make sure you study hard and pay attention to his class. Most importantly, rewrite everything he teaches. His tests are hard but makes you well prepared for final.
He is clear in his teaching but I do not recommend him as he's a very tough grader. You can never get an A or A- even if you work hard, I had a 3.9 before this class.
Man knows how to teach. Tough for all the right reasons. Gets angry or moody to easily. If you love math or majoring in mathematics take him. Overall he's a brilliant prof and an asset to the school and its students. Best public speaker. His voice is powerful especially since most prof who teach math/science have heavy accents. No extra CREDIT.
Prof. Hajallie is very professional and smart professor. I took Precal and Cal 1 with him, I personally think it was hard but he explains everything very clearly. His classes helped me a lot to do well in Cal 2, and I finally I got a A on Cal 2 by self-study.
He is a great professor for teaching , but he has many problems with teaching like if you come late ,he will warn you . if you did not understand his lecture he wont repeat again . he is very tough in grading , 40% of students drop his class . and first few weeks he teach very slowly and in last few weeks he push to his limits . but still he good
Professor Kamal is great. He just wants student to work hard for their great and once he sees yur effort he will help you passing with a good grade!
Professor Hajallie was so great. He really made me enjoy taking calculus class and you can see that he really has a passion for math, it was contagious! He is considerate if you open up to him and it's really great the fact that he lets us work with other classmates unlike other professors.
I am not going to sugar coat this, he is very hard. There will be test questions that is based around the understanding of concepts, not repetition from class or HW. However, if dedicate your time and attention to his lectures, you will learn an amazing amount. I never learned more from a single professor than him, but expect a lower grade.
Prof Hajallie is really good for those students are going to continue math, you will accept the fact that he is organized and really into math but for me he was hard and he was going deep into topics making me confused and work extra hard for his class. I will recommend him for students will be taking mat 201 or 202.
He explains materials like no one else does. His lectures are clear. He is very tough but he is reasonable. Definitely recommended if you're majoring in math and engineering fields.
Strict with grading on exams. Confusing lectures. Calls you out if you're late. Most drop out of his class
He was my first math teacher at LaGuardia, and so far the best one. I am up to MAT 204 and never had a better teacher. I just wish I tool all the math classes with him. If you are interested in learning math, you should definitely get him, but if you just want to pass the class, thats not gonna happen with him, choose someone else.
don't really recommend taking him, his lectures are really confusing as he goes too in depth. Which will make you have to learn on your own to comprehend. A lot of students drop, i barely made it
He is the best Math professor you can ever have, I am taking Calculus IV now and I understand everything on calculus because of this professor. Yes he is tough, don't expect an easy A you gotta work for it, he is also funny. I definitely recommend him for someone who wants learn math.
I had a really bad experience with this professor when i took precal. i was scared to take back again but i took it with another professor and i past
Professor is strict on grading. If he does not like the way you show your work he will mark you wrong. He gives a quiz at the beginning of every class, 15 minutes per quiz. You'll end up spending most of the 15 minutes writing all your work the way he likes it instead of focusing on answering the question. If you enjoy being demotivated, he's the 1
Prof. Hajallie is for the A+ Elite math students. He is not for the C+ or B+ students at all, if you are like 90 or 100% expert at math take his class. His lectures are way too deep and students have to study a lot on their own. Very strict on grades; Take him if you know precal material beforehand, don't take him if you never took precal
He is the worst professor I've had so far. He does not care if the entire class fails and most do if they take his class. He gives no extra credit whatsoever, he is an extremely tough grader, he gives no revisions on a test, he will not help you understand anything, he uses extremely hard versions of question and moves wayyy to fast in lectures....
He tells us he reads these reviews but does not care for them because as long as he believes he is teaching the material his way, then he is doing his job. But he isn't really if more than half the class is failing, so he shouldn't be proud of that. He gives a bunch of homework and forgets about it the next class. Tests based on the review sheets.
Do yourself the favor and don't skate through pre-calc. The "problem" with Hajallie's Calc class is that he expects everyone to have a strong foundation in algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calc and if you've taken these courses at LAGCC, then you're woefully unprepared. Either study on your own in depth or find another professor. He is not lenient.
Most reviews cover his basic teaching method, so i'll clarify on a few things that seems to be conflicted in his reviews. The past semester he has joked about a student who was failing. He is also easily insulted, going as far as calling out a student's failing test grade because the student joked about finally understanding a topic in his lecture.
worst professor i have ever encountered in Laguardia , he literally have no mercy on students .
Positive side-He explains math extremely well. He masters every topic. Negative side- The exams are extremely difficult. He places things in quizzes that we never cover in the class. He is NOT a friendly person. He does not care about you either. he is tough grader. He said once " Anyone who pass with A; Can usually teach this class". There you.
I withdrawed his class after half the semester coz everyone was failing. He teaches things his own way; if you don't get it you're called stupid. I retook Calc I w/ another prof. I'm good at math but nothing prepared me for his class. If you're good at math, take him with caution. But I'd wait till everything goes back to in-person to take him.
Amazing professor. He explains very well and he is a master in calculus. But be ready to face lots of homework and you need to practice a lot in order to pass.
This man is a F**** A*****. just zooms through the topics, gets mad when you don't undestand. tons of homework with random times due. avoid this teacher !!! he doesn't want to teach, he should be fired.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He failed everyone from my class and he was most certainly the problem. He makes you feel like a imbecile if you even ask a question. LITERALLY THE WORST PROFESSOR IN LAGUARDIA. I mean look at his other rates
Dropped this class after one week. I refuse to sit in a class and let someone belittle me or make me feel lower than dirt. I've just made the decision to go back to school after 18 years & that's how long it's been since I've taken a math class. Of course I'm rusty, that's why I needed this course! I'm not an imbecile, don't treat me like one.
very difficult professor. doesn't work with you or show compassion.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! Very authoritarian,Terrible at explaining math, Scribbles notes instead of teaching, Ridicules & disrespects students, uses confusing MyOpenMath platform, tests DO NOT reflect MyOpenMath material, No textbook use, Very inconvenient office hours, Moved class to favor his parking situation. 15/22 students dropped. He ruins GPAs
To make a long story short, I wanted to become an engineer. After withdrawing from his class, I changed my major from CompP to CS. Hajallie is an extremely tough grader, his explanations are understandable - but you must listen to him very closely. He didn't turn our attention to trig substitutions, and it was the reason I withdrew.
I loved being in this professor's class. He has tough love and pushes students to learn more. If you don't like working hard, DON'T join his class. You will not do well. He can see when someone tries, he's very kind and promotes questioning. I had to withdrawal due to personal problems, but I would've wanted to stay till the end.
I don't even know where to start. 1. Wouldn't have office hours. Only willing to meet 15mins before class or after 2. Squeezed material in 3. In the Math tutor's office, they warned me of him 4. No recordings of lectures 5. Worst part, expected us to write down proof of work, take a picture, email it to ourselves, and upload it within the test time
He's a bit rough around the edges and challenges you to reach your full potential.
If you can take any other professor please do, if not DONT TAKE IN SECOND SESSION too much
I do not know why he is there. I do not know why people have placed him to continue teaching.
I don't know what to say, but if you work hard starting from your first day, you will definitely see your results. Every hard thing has a soft corner. He has too. So, face it !
This class was not enjoyable. He would yell at us and didn't answer the girls questions but had no problem answering if a boy asked a question. Does not re-explain information. Please find a different class.
If you have a part time job you may want to reconsider taking his class. He will belittle you for even asking questions, speeds though the lectures not giving time to even gather notes making no sense in even showing up.
I learned much better with youtube videos than with this professor, I wasted a lot of time trying to learn with his methods but none of that helped me and it destroyed my GPA a lot.
The methods used by this professor are not good at all, he explains so fast that you don't even have time to copy what he writes on the board, he asks questions but he answers them himself, if you have a doubt the only thing he answers is “I just explained it” and he just continues with the class.
Hajallie is a tough but brilliant professor. His classes are demanding, but if you put in the work and utilize resources like Unstuck ai, you can excel. Go to office hours and be ready to challenge yourself.
Spent a great amount of time constantly degrading all of his past students that failed, which included 20 of 22 NYU Math Professors and making sure that the currents students knew we would be part of his future degradation. Insisted the class say that we understood what he was speeding through by literally saying ‘YES' when we clearly were not.
" you should know this " especially being out of high school for years I barely even wanted to ask because you feel dumb. Does not offer help or office hours, I don't know how he should be getting paid when I have to teach myself everything and attend tutoring. I literally cried 1st week like how am I going to pass this with this type of teaching.
He's test heavy only really grades that. he doesn't go over literally anything so if u miss a day u miss 1-2 topics. He doesn't negotiate grades, doesnt curve grades, no office hours, and is not helpful at all. the tests look nothing like lectures or hw so if u already struggle with math dont take him fr please don't
Hi guys, i just want to say if you want to waist time took his class otherwise don't take it. He is not helpful, he don't give any extra credit, not a good class he run like everyone know everything , also a lot of homework that is just 6% of your grade. Definitely so bad experience.
He is not the best professor. He doesn't help. He always suggest to go to take tutoring if we don't understand his lecture. When we use other formula, he doesn't give credit or grade. He gives a lot of homeworks. He even says he knows that his ratings are not good but he doesn't care at all. Try to avoid this professor. Very rude.
Very strict but for a good reason
If you struggle with the material don't take his class. He does not provide support in helping students understand the content and he is firm about grades even when you reach out to discuss them. When you ask questions he directs you to a tutor. If you request feedback on an assignment/project he tells you that he will not review or revise it for you.
Expects you to know all the material, does not help or expand on any of his work, does not provide flexibility, if you want to waste your money and time sign up for his class
Intro to Trig and Alegebra. He's a fair grader when it comes to tests, and in the final i got a 89 but he still counts it as 100/100 points. He does always remind people to get a tutor if you're struggling. Pay attention in class and do practice questions at home, he allows it for the hw online, and you're good. missing even 1 day, will set u back.
