Clear, concise, cute
hard, boring and HARD
Very easy class if you know anything about computers, good teacher, very helpful
Nice prof
Nice Prof, Pretty funny!
I am computer illiteral and I'm impressed how comprehensive he is. Very helpful.
Excellent prof, terrible course! If you have to take 237, take it with Masri!! not Hayward.
nice prof, funny guy, lots of reading, but I'd say stick with this prof if u want to take this course.
An excellent guy. Go for him.
Notes are organized and he is good at explaining concepts.
very nice person, and he's patient enough to write 2 paragraphs to you to explian a question you have
Easy course if you have computer background info. (10% ppl fail 75% get B/C and 15% get A)Nice Prof., Easy Marker, Speak more clear than Hayward (take Masari over Hayward)
nice prof.easy class. i am happy with the mark
funny guy, really helpful
To make such a dry course this engaging requires talent. Masri is the professor for the job!
He is a good prof, jsut memorize all the notes for his tests....
Great teacher. Student favorite.
great prof, love his course and really appreciate the A
he's a nice teacher, but this course sucks
Mr. Marsi has been so far the best Prof i ever had at SFU. Keep up the good work .
kamal is a great prof! bus237 was my fav course this semsester. he's always really cheerful, so it makes his classes more fun to attend! i mean, the content is pretty dry, but he tries to make it as interesting and clear as possible! overall, great prof!
He is really nice and fast response if you have a question. He is patience and knowledgable in this field. Highly recommended.

he is gddd
excellent professor, has great knowledge about the course, extremely helpful
His tests sux!!! Most students have no clue where to find answers to those questions on his tests!!! Should've been more focused... I'd never ever take this damn course again!!!
It's unfortunate that Masri had to teach such a flake course - he's got great character and a genuine, keen interest to the field.
He is excellent Prof. Has great knowledge about his field and has great sense of humour. he really wants u to know the details of course.i would love to take course with him again. my fav prof so far
Class is boring. Alright prof.
Kamal is a great prof!!!
he is very~~~~~ nice!
All this guy does is read off his power point notes, all exams multiple choice. They should hire somebody else. What a waste paying $600 to watch somebody read off a overhead.
He is very nice and funny prof. He tries hard to explain the course. The course is ok. Everything is multimple choice. needs lots of work
he's a pretty good prof, he knows he's stuff, and explains it pretty well. the way he designed the course also allows u to actually learn stuff, sorta forces u do read the text book cuz of the quizes which is really good, cuz in the end all the exam questions come from the text. Exams are extreemly easy(for me), all MC. totally recomend him~
hes super nice!! and hes really interested in the subject which is also good. But beware! midterm was hard, or at least i thought it was :(
Exams extremely hard! I think a final exam should focus on the overall general stuffz ... I think he tends to go into too specific. Okay clear during lectures..but believe it or not sometimes you sit there and hear him BLAH a bunch of "What is he talking about?" Overall Nice personality ~ !
This prof just takes everything from the textbook and a little from his notes, focus on more textbook. I aced the final but I had to study hard for it, his exams are very hard and tricky, don't take this class lightly at all, doesn't matter if you have computer background or not!
For u smarties.. this is an easy A... take this course with masri and move ur GPA up

Masri makes most of the DRY material. Exams are tricky if you don't know the exact terms and procedures and stuff. Seemed like there was a lot of work for this class though. It's kind of hard to get an A because of the bell curve and it's easy if you study HARD! (like with everything else, but still)
AWESOME prof!! He makes the lectures interesting and fun. Considering the amt. of material in this course, I think he did an excellent job in explaining it. However, his mts and finals were challenging ... really need to study! His assignments are stupid ... required SOO much work yet only worth 3% each.
good prof. teaches you alot about computers if you dont know much already. the second half of the semester is less useful. he teaches straight out of the textbook but is quite intereseting none the less. labs are boring. overall good prof.
Horrible testing style. Exams were all multiple choice- VERY challening. Assignments are extremely time consuming and worth very little of the overall mark. Don't bother going to lecture, he just reads straight off the notes. Very interesting course content though.
He is a nice person but his style of teaching is not good, Book is crapp Exams are hard Very hard

Awesome Prof...Take him...all the other instructors teaching this course are crap!
great prof... he's always willing to help and gives you paragraph long answers via e-mail. class is a lot of work but relatively speaking is not very difficult, but not easy either.. u really have to put in the work. the assignments took an INCREDIBLE amount of time but were worth 3.33% each. marking scheme is EXTREMELY anal.
He's definitely in a tie with my other favourite prof. He really cares about his students, and makes the class a pleasure to attend (and I was in his night class after having a full day... aka, 12 hours long!) Don't miss lectures because he'll definitely use his lecture notes in both the midterm and final. GREAT PROF!
He is a very caring prof and tries hard to make lectures interesting. Most of the time he gets his points across. Make sure you do good in tutorials because his midterm and final (all mc questions) will really throw you off if you don't understanding the material inside and out. Reading the text and lectures are not enough, must understand it!!!
awesome!! we got 10 bucks each for a survey. Nevertheless great prof
An awesome prof, here because he wants to teach and wants to interest the students. Multiple choice exams, but many tricky questions, need to know book and lecture material inside out, reading it won't help. Attend lectures, read book in advance and should be ok.
Makes a boring topic exciting.
He was okay, but he didn't really do it for me. You can tell he tries really hard to make things interesting, but he spent way too much time trying to get students to participate in discussion on meaningless topics. His tests are tricky, but very fair.
great prof. he really cares about his students. he makes the material fun and intresting. This is not an easy course. You really have to read the lecture notes and the textbook. Some ppl say the exams are tricky but if you do the reading you will be fine. Nonetheless, the assignemnts requires a lot of work!!!
Great Prof.. totally not a boring professor. The first half of the class talking about computer stuffs and the second half talking more about theories. It's an interesting course, I learned a lot about IS.
This is a great prof! I am a complete computer moron, but passed this course with an A- because Kamal is so helpful. He really does care about his students and will help you the best he can. Nevertheless, the course material isn't easy, especially if you're not a computer nut. Overall, I would only take 237 with Kamal!
great
I absolutely loved this class! It's the first class where the lec got me engaged and interested. Mr. Masri was able to make the dull content somewhat easy to follow along and he really knows his stuff. The assignments and exams are fair. Just do your readings, go to lec, and you will do fine. Considering doing a major in MIS thanks to this class!:
This class was pretty easy with him. The assignments were fair but the exams were tricky. If you read his notes, I think you'll do well. I don't think you really need to read the book to study for your exams. The online quizzes are really easy. I ended up with a B+.
i never attended lecs so i don't know how he teaches. His exams are hard and getting a decent mark really requires u to know the material inside out. His assignments are really good in that they give you a practical sense of how MIS works. Do the readings and understand the material n it should be an easy class
I think he is a great prof. Really helpful if u look for help before the mid n final. It is so much understandable if u pay attention and actually understand the material. Assignments are easy to get marks. The only thing that annnoyed me is that he spends too much time interact with students in class and I don't really pay attention on that part.
HE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! HANDS DOWN THE BEST Professor @ SFU... words can't describe how great this man really is. His teaching method is beyond fabulous! JUST PERFECT!
Kamal is an awesome prof! I was looking into doing and MIS major and was definitely convinced after this class. I am fairly good with computers(CS major) but I'll admit I had to work for my A-. He taught the evening class and I hardly ever dozed off! which can happen sometimes in evening classes lol
Awesome prof with clear teaching style. He's not boring so it's hard to believe you've sat for 2 hours when class has ended. MT and Final were all MC when I took this course, not sure about now. Keep up with readings and pay attention in lectures! TA's are just as awesome.
Awesome Prof. If you have Steven Toy as your T.A., than your pretty much set for the class since he gives you his study notes to study for the exams. Get to learn some awesome things with word, visio, powerpoint, excel and dreamweaver that you never knew existed. Try to get steven toy as your T.A.!!!
Prof did not give any valuable guidance in a project that depended almost entirely on communication. Little feedback on why he gave mark that he did. Gave 30% of the class A's though...
I thought this prof was pretty awesome. He has lots of experience in the field and it shows in his teaching that he loves it. Exams can be a little tricky, but if you actually READ the book AND the slides, you should be more than fine. Assignments took a decent amount of time, but hey its university. Strongly recommend this prof.
He's a good man and really cares about the students. Get him if you can.
Pretty good prof. Hard exams but ace-able I guess. Assignments take time and the TA's are really picky about it. Final was hard. All in all, good experience.
Kamal is an absolutely awesome professor. He cares about his students and treats you like an equal not an inferior. Class participation is very important as you are graded on it. When I took this class, it consisted of a lot of work but the course outline has been revised lately. Summary: take any class you can with Kamal, he is a GREAT teacher.
Kamal is a fantastic professor, he is very helpful and interested in the coursework. He acts like a hard ass sometimes but he's really quite forgiving, just be serious about the course. The class is quite a lot of work and the book is mind numbingly boring. However, the project is a great experience.
Great professor! Not only because he had more relevant knowledge than the textbook to share on the subject, but he also goes out of his way to help his students. I have great respect for Mr. Masri.
He is great and funny prof, really try his best to make the most boring course in the universe as funny as he could... but how can you be interested to this course when the textbook is extremely boooooring, and 2 people just can't keep their mouths shut!! it's a 2 hr lecture and 1 hr is for those two asking question, make comment... boring class!
Exams require you to understand. Textbook does not prepare you for exam. Read lecture notes. There were only a few assignments which are time consuming but easy. Carlos is an amazing TA - knowledgeable, helpful, and fun!
Kamal is a great teacher, I had so much fun attending his lecture. Taking in class notes is a must since he bases the exams on the lectures. His exams are a bit hard and tricky, all multiple choice with lots of all/none of the above. Assignments are time consuming but doable. Makes you think but if you paid attention during class you'll be fine.
Definitely knowledgeable in the field. EXTREMELY difficult marker; looks for specifics and key words in answers. Exams are definitely on the hard side-you must know material VERY WELL. Instructions on project & assignments are sometimes unclear; seems that the TA and him haven't communicated very well. However, both Kamal and TA are always helpful.
dont normally review profs but Dr. Masri deserves a shout out... One of the best profs ive ever had. Explains material well, fair assignments and marking, fair exams that require you to apply the material and think despite being MC. Helpful guy, funny, friendly, approachable. Take this class with him.
Great prof. Made a not-so-interesting class fun. Explains material well and great sense of humour. Just be careful with the assignments! They're very time consuming. I would definitely recommend taking this class with him!
He's a nice guy and encourages a lot of discussion. Tries to make lectures interesting altho content can be boring. I hate how assignments are so time consuming, esp assign.#2, TAs hardly go thru it so you're left clueless and dont kno what ur doing, becuz they dont exactly explain it well in labs.
Great prof! Tries to make the topic relevant and interesting. Definitely recommend!
Excellent professor, works very hard to engage students with the course material. Do yourself a favour, and take a class with him! You won't be disappointed!
This man is a great professor, teacher, educator, coach and an even better person. Work hard and you will do great. Great with emails and in-person. Awesome dude. Very clear with all details and wishes and really works to make his students succeed. Thank you Dr. Masri.
Kamal tries very hard to portray himself as someone knowledgeable in the MIS field, but seasoned students can tell his teaching style and his experience with IT is old school and dated. At times, he sounded condescending. He is responsive when you contact him. The course material is very useful for MIS students. Expect a significant amount of work.
Assignments took a long time, especially the second one. Mentions a lot of interesting storiesarticles which relate to the topic. He makes the class less boring and concepts do stick because of his stories.
To be fair, he is a great Prof and a nice person, fair marker as well. But his midterm and final are really really hard.
The material is dry, midterm was multiple choice and short answers but really tricky. Text book doesn't help much. In order to do well, you have to understand the material rather than memorize the slides. Assignmentsand group project were VERY time-consuming.
Exams are extremely hard. The TA I got was a hard marker. :(
kamal is a great person, but not as great as a lecturer. the first and last lectures were my favorite.... and the middle were just meh. His exams are super hard and TRUST me when i say that this is not a class you can't just read the book. You have to UNDERSTAND the concepts. Oh and get ready for group projects and individual ones, he watches too
Kamal is an excellent lecturer; however, the course involves a heavy workload. The assignments are very long and must be completed within tight deadlines. The project, nontheless, was a great challenge and was extremely rewarding. The final exam was difficult (no surprises as it "normalizes" the curve).
His exams are tough since they are filled with tricky multiple choice questions but the good thing is that this course is curved(the top mark for the final exam was around 80%).The assignments are time consuming but sometimes interesting.
Kamal is an excellent prof. Participation is very important to him, and he makes an effort to get to know the students that do participate. Material is boring, but he does his best to make it interesting. Go to class, read the textbook, and the material will stick.
Kamal is really engaging and makes fairly boring material become interesting. He has a ton of experience in the field and cares about his students' future. Make sure to stay up on the readings. Would highly recommend.
The course on the service isn't hard. But the marking is way too hard and the rules are too strict. Wouldn't recommend unless there are no other options.
This course is not as easy as everyone says it is. Save yourself and take it with a different prof.
This class was challenging and rewarding. He expects hard work but it makes it that much more rewarding to try hard in his class. He doesn't expect project to succeed, he actually expects it to fail - don't worry if you didn't meet your measures as well as you wanted to. Study slides and look over textbk for final exam. Know EVM & critical path
One of my favourite classes by far. If you put the effort into the project and create something you are proud to do it will be easy to work hard towards your goals. Your project does not have to succeed but do find something unique and different and you will get a great mark for it Exam was somewhat hard but fair at the same time.
This prof is really supportive of his students. Work hard and you will be fine. Pretty fair amount of work, but that final was ridiculous. Tested on details that you would never assume we're important.
Great lecturer and includes lots of stories from his industry experience. Although the material is easy and straightforward the exams were hard since they test your understanding of the material and not just memorization. So much easy homework and easy assignments but the most time consuming classes I've taken and the ruberic was tough too.
Favourite professor thus far at SFU! This course requires lots of tedious work, but in the end is quite rewarding. If you are even remotely interested in technology, Kamal is terrific at igniting a passion for the subject that you didn't realize you previously had. Some of the material can get dry so his anecdotes keeps things interesting. :)
Super friendly and engaging. Tends to go off tangent during lectures and lags behind by the first term. Infuses his experience with MIS into the lectures and teaches outside the scope of the course. Tough grader, tough exams, tough assignments. Be prepared to slog this course out.
thanks to kamal, i could get an A+. Really passionate and cool.
You learn a lot about project management and actually run your own fundraiser in this class. It was a rewarding, useful experience. That said, the time required for this class is 2-3x as much as a regular class. For example, your group is expected to meet 5 times a week. If you have the time, and are willing to put in the work, take this class
good prof, nothing outstanding but def knows his stuff
Absolute Terrible Guy
course isn't that useful, its just an information session about beedie almost every lecture with "real world" methods of job prospecting.
BUS 100 is a pass or fail course that introduces you to Beedie. The assignments are surveys (I completed them during lectures), so if you complete all the assignments, you will not fail. Although the information Kamal presented in lectures was dry, he was funny and added personal anecdotes that made things interesting.
Honestly the lectures are just common sense so if you don't go it's not that big of a deal. But if you're planning on talking don't go, it's so sad when he has to stop when people talk over him. Easy course, there's like a couple assignments and they're for completion. Overall don't stress, Kamal is great and tries to keep us entertained.
This course was a pass/fail course that prepares you for Beedie. The lectures consists of choosing concentrations, which "choose MIS concentration" was repeated throughout the course and it was not a topic that interests me. Launch was the mandatory orientation where a good amount of time was spent on SDI, which I found a waste of time.
During lecture he speaks like he cares about student but in real life he doesn't care much. Maybe you are just worth a quick glance of his time. Tbh, this class is a waste of time and money. They should have better mandatory networking events for students instead of boring fake life lectures deliver by Kamal.
