Very fun teacher, laid back

I really like Kamarie! She's really supportive, very easygoing, and funny! I was not looking forward to this class, and she definitely made it way better than I expected.

I love Kamarie, she's easy going, and her quizzes aren't that hard. She tries to help as much as possible, and she sends out announcements to answer everyones problems and it is not angry or mean in anyway. Just do the work and you'll be fine.

She really likes playwriting and she makes it accessible for everyone. Plus we read cool plays. She's pretty laid back. I went to her office hours twice without an appointment and it was no problem.

I don't know what other people have problems with, but this class is super easy. And it's pretty interesting. A lot of the information is offered online and Kamarie records the lectures and puts them up on canvas. The quizzes and tests aren't hard and the movies are pretty cool. Fun class. Just keep up with the homework.

Easy class overall. All the quizzes and exams are online. You will be reviewing only 3 movies but you will be watching more movies in comparison to writing. Kamarie is awesome! Easy GUR overall. Highly recommend this class

Kamarie is an energetic, nice and enthusiastic teacher. It's obvious she loves her job and does all she can to make sure everyone can succeed and enjoys themselves. It is not a hard class. I would recommend her and this class.

There's a lot of reading, but it's not hard. I forgot to take a quiz and just asked if I could take it and she had no problem with it. Pretty chill class.

I really enjoyed Kamarie's class and seeing all the negative reviews on here surprised me. Kamarie knows if you give a F***, and she's really passionate about evthg, so if you show up and just try to BS your way through you might not be her favorite. I think she gives a lot to this class and I found it really valuable. Lot of great class discussion

I found the teacher to be very genuine and trustworthy. She was passionate and borderline nerdy when it came to the subject of film, which is exactly what you want in a professor.

I checked out and had a bad quarter. I didn't finish the final and got a K which really screwed my financial aid. But Kamarie got it regraded and I even got a B-. It's not a hard class but you will have homework. Just stay on top of it and be sure to go to Tuesday class. Like people said, she's real passionate.

Kamarie is an interesting person; far from a traditional prof. She is very passionate and opinionated, and while the course is fairly easy to get by in, if you want her respect and real value from it you have to read the stuff, think about it, and stand behind your opinions. If you have valid reasons for opposing her she'll be fair.

Really fun loving, amazing teacher. She loves her subject and what she does.

Kamarie is a great person and professor. The quizzes are harder than I thought, and I would really recommend only watching the videos instead of doing the actual tedious amount of reading. The videos get you pretty far. Good class to take overall. Take quizzes with friends, take notes.

Kamarie is really wonderful. She's funny and makes the class very enjoyable; it would be an easy class to skip, but her attitude makes you want to come listen to her lectures. Her quizzes are a bit more difficult than expected, but all of them are online, so do them with friends and you'll be fine.

Kamarie is AWESOME, BUT contrary to what you might think about a class about watching movies, this is not an easy A. So just treat it like a real class and pay close attention, take notes, read everything she assigns (which is just the online textbook), because the tests are really specific and kinda unfair sometimes.

Kamarie is a lot of fun. The class is a pretty easy A. It's basically reading a chapter/attending the lecture, taking a quiz on them, and then watching a movie, each week. There is a ton of reading in the online textbook (2 hours just reading per week) but all quizzes and the midterm are online. Do not skip unless you are dying.

I guess this is a lot of reading and really tough if you think you are just going to get an easy A. It's a real class with specific questions about the text- which is okay, but not great- and now that I know the final, I'm pretty sure it's good for people who don't like lots of essays and stuff. But you better show up; skipping will cost you.

Kamarie is wonderful! Shes very passionate about what shes teaching and that makes me more into what shes talking about. Quizzes every Thursday on the reading from the textbook. Lectures are simple; very little notes needed to be taken. Definitely would recommend!

Theater 201: Cinema is pretty easy as long as you go to class and read the chapter before the quiz. Attendance is graded but the class is only 1 hour of lecture a week and then watching a movie so I mean come on it's not that bad. Also she gives extra credit quizzes for people who stay til the end for the movies.

AMAZING movies. She really picks awesome movies. You get out super early every movie day. Homework is online. Pretty easy, would recommend doing it with a friend. One test (midterm super easy and online at home) and the final is a video either a movie or a vlog thing. Easy GUR and a blast! Lectures arent even lectures on lecture days.

Kamarie is pretty amazing. As a freshman and it being my first quarter I was scared I was going to hate all of my profs, but she is awesome. If you do the work you will pass and its my most enjoyable class. the movies shown are interesting and will always leave you wanting more and Kamarie's personality will always want to make you show up.

Kamarie is an actual angel, I love her so much and she's brought out something in me I never thought I could ever do. Yes she expects you to be at every class but it's so worth it. She deserves the world!

This class a fun, easy A. Kamarie restructured the class this quarter so it's a little different--there's no textbook but she assigns articles and videos to watch weekly. There's a quiz on those on Thursdays and you can look at them while you take the quiz. Overall, Kamarie is fun and the class is super easy.

This class was super cool and would highly reccommend for a GUR! Don't just gloss over the weekly quizzes though, because they will matter at the end of the quarter! However, you can take them in groups which is helpful. Kamarie is a fun professor with lots of knowledge on the subject. You watch some great films and learn some pretty neat stuff!

Took this class for an easy A, perfect GUR. There are quizzes after every film that are open note and you can work with a partner. The final is a 5 minute vlog. The midterm was VERY hard though, prepare for that. Prof cancelled lots of class so that was really nice too.

Kamarie was super kind, but had a tough side. She cares a lot about attendance. Quizzes could be difficult/pretty objective, I'm an A average student and I passed quizzes w C average which was frustrating. The films she showed were ah-may-zing. She cared a lot to show marginalized groups/stories and was very artistic! Really loved her class.

The movies are really good. The final is chill. Quizzes are tough, but you take them in class and can get groups to help. Class was pretty easy overall.

I absolutely loved this class! It was a super fun GUR to take, and really wasnt that difficult. the only hard part was doing readings for quizzes you took after watching a film, but even those quizzes you could do as a group. matter of fact, everything you can do with more than one person, including the mid term and final project.

Easy and fun cinema class! All quizzes are done together so you can work as a group. All the movies were contemporary and in English. The final project is making a short film with a group. I had so much fun I loved this class.

I think a lot of her reviews are neg bc she doesn't take b*ll, even at the lower level. She's adapted well to online learning. She isn't lecture heavy -- she's more project based, which I think is ideal for someone in the arts. I've had 3 classes w/ her and want more! You'll get out of her classes what you put into them. Her feedback is incredible.

Kamarie is a kind and knowledgeable teacher, this class is primarily focused on student collaboration and group work and she is an effective mediator and provides good insight into creative work. Interesting content, always willing to work with you if you make the effort, and sometimes brings snacks. <3 what more can ye want?

Kamarie is an absolute delight. A wonderful professor, a wonderful mentor, and a wonderful person. She has a passion for education, and cares about her students success. Her lectures are always fun and informative!!

The class was more metaphorical and the deeper meaning behind the films. There were weekly quizzes. That was pretty much it, I just suggest it is heavy note wise if you have poor memory.

The quizzes are hard and usually subjective, but if you watch the lecture videos and the movies its not too bad. Taking quizzes with friends and notes is fine. Final movie project is cool. Just be sure and do everything required. Seems nice. Ive never met her though.

Ms. Chapman was amazing during online courses. No textbooks, interesting and not your typical films. She genuinely cares that her students are learning. Communicate with her and youre all good. I would caution that you do need to read and watch everything she provides, her quizzes are somewhat difficult (not an easy A).

Kamarie is super nice and communicates well. She choses movies and readings that aren't what you'd usually expect for a film class, but that are meaningful. Her quizzes are challenging, but as long as you do the assignments and watch her lectures, you'll do well on the quizzes. Her final is making a 4 minute vlog which I had a lot of fun with!

Kamarie loves what she does! The class was overall easy. You can take quizzes with others in the class and she has said that's what you're supposed to do! overall the quizzes are easy and the 2-3 small projects are as well. I enjoyed learning more about film.

The #1 aspect of this class is Kamarie, she is passionate about film, her lectures are engaging and the readings she picks are great for a modern film experience. The worst part ofthis class, by far, is the weekly quiz. The questions about the films we watch are totally subjective and frustrating, you basically guess what her interpretation is.

This class is easy if you watch the lectures and take notes. She tells you the answers in the lectures and they are pretty funny. I just set up a discord and we took the quizzes together. The final is really fun and I was really surprised how much I got learned about cinema. The movies are awesome. It's not an easy A, but it's also not hard.

Great spirit and always caring about her students and how they are learning. Understanding and her work load isnt bad at all. I personally think this class was fun to do and enjoyed it.

Chapman really cares about her students. Her lectures are more like videos since she does talk about herself a lot. The movie viewing each week is also really nice for a change of pace. Although her lectures do get boring sometimes, but she tries her best. Class is 6 quizzes and 3 video/film projects, as long as you do them, you're in the clear.

Kamarie is so sweet and kind. She is a down-to-earth teacher who says it like it is. She is super funny and actually takes time to talk to her students and to get to know them. This course wasn't too difficult, but in order to get an A+ you can't always BS your work. Kamarie owns up to her mistakes and is a great teacher.

I only failed this class due to personal reasons, but Kamarie was incredible. I struggled a lot the quarter I took her intro to cinema class / thtr 201 and she was very understanding and accomodating. she gave me extensions when I needed them and was always quick to respond and help in ways she could. the class was a lot of fun and interactive!

Although this was an online class, she is honestly a great person. Her lectures are fun to watch and her weekly quizzes aren't too difficult. I was able to complete all of the weekly work on one day each week. The downside is that you won't know your final grade until the class is over, but you could do the math and find out if you wanted.

I wish this class was in person. The prof is easy to get ahold of and has office hours on campus. You can also set up a zoom session. The quizzes are not really that hard if you actually watch the lectures. Final assignment is a five minute video you create. There's extra credit too. Just have to stay on top of the work.

I took her Understanding Plays class. I found it super fun, plus I met a ton of awesome people there. Kamarie was super nice and always informed us about local theatre events we could attend for free. The only issues in the class came from classmates who disliked the plays we read. I thought there was a good mix of plays, and I def recommend. 8/10

Some reviews for this class sound like little kids whining. I don't know what people expect when they go to college, but this class was way easier than so many others. Took me about two and a half hours to do the weekly reading and fill out the play form. And you make a website in steps and a podcast. Saw a play downtown at the theater too. Easy.

Weekly check ins are super easy. But she does actually read them and checks for AI. Video projects are fun. The films are really amazing. Attendance not required but fun lectures if you do. Would take again.

THTR 201 was not Kamarie at her best. Having taken other classes with her, I knew what she was really good at, but cramming 100 freshman into a lecture hall is a terrible place for both her and the students. If you love theater or cinema, don't let this class make up your mind about her, take her script writing classes.

An easy and fun class for the first large chunk of the quarter. More work towards the end but still relatively creative and fun.

really interesting class and not very hard. never had any problems with the prof. she emails back pretty quick and is really helpful.

Kamari was so nice and genuine and never called anyone out in class or respond poorly to something someone said, which made it feel like a safe space to share opinions on the films. I would say to go to the lectures if you can, they are interesting and she is always so exited about teaching and knows so much, but you don't really need to.

Kamarie is such a blessing to have taken a class with especially a writing class, I came out the class with a love for it and wanting to continue writing in the future. She nurtures your creativity and as long as you write plays or scenes during the class on time with presentations you will pass. Its not a hard class, you just have to work for it.

I went to this class because I wanted to. The movies are really good. Lecture days are interesting. No tests. The homework is easy. It's a big class. The assignments are not hard just turn stuff in on time and you'll be fine. A lot of people quit showing up and I think stressed the professor out with emails. If you talk to her you can get extension

I'm not sure why she has low reviews, I really enjoyed her and this class. Her personality is refreshing and course work is very interesting. Movies were all super good, always made me cry. I have recommended this class to almost everyone I know at WWU. Honestly, you don't need to go to lectures or movies but DO! Embrace it. You'll love it. Trust.

Kamarie is one of the best professors I have had at Western and their playwrighting classes are always fun. You get to learn so much about writing plays and how to get your finished work out in the world for potential putting on your plays. Its a very good experience and class structure, I recommend taking a Kamarie class.

The professor is super nice and makes the class engaging, even though it's a large lecture. The movies are interesting and the assignments are manageable. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for test prep - highly recommend it along with the free textbook and study sessions.

Kamarie is really funny and interesting, and makes her class straight-forward which is nice. This class itself is not very engaging though as attendance is not mandatory and the assignments are pretty easy.

Honestly this is a great class for a GUR if you are looking to get an easy A with little effort. Attendance isn't mandatory and you don't need to attend class unless you are interested. Honestly if you don't pass the class it's on you all you gotta do is read the directions and submit things on time. They don't even require much thought.

SUCH an easy GUR and an overall wonderful class. I went to class 2 times and passed with an A. I highly recommend going though as she is so inspirational. She is super funny and so welcoming again. The "final" is literally a group project and super simple. Took us 1 hour to complete. Good class for a freshman looking for something easy!

Karamie is a very lively theater professor here at Western, and I couldn't be happier that I got to be in her class. She brings a thrill to learning about theater, with clear grade contracts, and is very passionate about teaching theater, and is very down to earth about communicating. Her class was a great basis of starting script writing!

This was a fun class!! Movies every Thursday and on Tuesdays we talk about the topic for the week. Super fun to do the film assignments with friends. She loved all of my films, it might not be fun if you don't have friends in the class, so rec doing it with them!!

this was a really easy class for a GUR. Only one homework assignment a week, and it wasn't writing or reading-heavy. The movies were interesting, and so were the lectures and outside-of-class short films or articles she would have us read.

I just finished this class and Kamarie is not going to teach it any more. I'm so glad that I got to take it with her and I hope that whoever takes over is as good. People quit coming as much halfway through, and that's too bad because she is a great lecturer and the movies she picks are amazing. Never would have watched some if not for this class.

This class was pretty easy. The only major project is a partnered project that requires some time outside of class to complete, but even then, it's not very difficult. I would say that her class doesn't have much structure, and aside from the very beginning, I don't think the lectures were particularly helpful for understanding the coursework.
