EE451. Avoid this prof if possible. I had to take this course because it was the only course that would fit to my schedule in my graduating year. He expects alot from you and teaches relatively simple examples but homework and exams are on another level.
Luckily he posts notes online, because his notes on the board are almost impossible to follow. He likes to start on one board, switch, come back, erase half the stuff on the first board and write some more underneath. Assignments are straightforward and easy, but the tests tend to involve multiple tricks that he doesn't bother to teach in class.
Very helpful inside and outside of the class. great course notes
He is teaching very interactively by engaging the students in the discussions
Very good prof. Easy to understand. Posts his notes online, relates to real world examples to show you the material is useful. Has quizzes instead of midterms and tells you exactly what will be on them. Highly recommend Moez for EE 351
Caring instructor, writes on the whiteboard rather than using powerpoints to make sure everybody can follow.
He provides the students with hard copies of the typed course notes given at the beginning of the classes. Very passionate about the material. Highly recommended.
Wonderful course, learned a lot about RF circuits.
Final was hard. Beside that, great course.
Love this instructor! very organized, and very helpful inside and outside of the class. Highly recommended.
Literally every single new idea in class is covered through an example, instead of actually explaining the theory behind or the process to do something. Makes fun of students who don't understand or who do poorly on assignments/quizzes. Poor penmanship. Poor drawing skills. Sprays spittle when he speaks, and practically yells. Take 304 w/ JSit
Dr Moez is a caring professor making every effort for the students to understand course material. His pace of teach is appropriate and provides detailed lecture notes. Quizzes and exam may be a little hard though.
Learned a lot about radio frequency designs, become familiar with some useful circuits actually used in today's wireless devices. Despite the difficulty of material, he tries very hard to make sure average student can follow the lectures.
Kambiz is a great guy and his lectures are great. He wants everyone to do good. No midterm just bi-weekly quizzes that are quite straight forward. This course was not super exciting but was still enjoyable as the prof cared and it showed in his lectures.
It's the final course in the circuit analysis branch for Computer Engineers. Much more useful than the amplifier nonsense of 302. There was no midterm, but four quizzes worth 7.5% (30% total) that would be usurped by the final if it's mark was greater. Difficult concepts at times, but livable. Remember the quadratic equation.
Not accessible out of class.
Avoid this Prof if you can. He expects a lot from you and teaches relatively simple examples but homework and exams are on another level. The course is covered in microwave class much better.
Very organized and caring about students' progress. Clear lectures followed by reasonable assignments and quizzes.
Organized and caring prof. Attend the lectures and do the assignment, you will be fine.
Avoid this course if you can.
Avoid this prof if you can. Lectures are so confusing. Not accessible out of classes.
Horrible!
In just four weeks in the lecture, he has proven to be an amazing instructor! He is passionate about the topics he teaches, and clearly explains every single concepts. Take time to engage the class by asking interesting question, and welcome questions from students.
Worst experience ever, horrible!
One of the best in engineering! Enthusiastic about what he teaches, broad knowledge in RF, analog, and digital electronics.
One of the worst in engineering! Does not have idea about what he teaches.
Grumbling about how much he hates teaching this course. does not distribute a detailed syllabus and probably does not actually know what he is going to do in the class. He is not able to explain the stuff in a way the students can understand. He attends only to his notes and never invite or accept questions.
people who rated his difficulty above a one probably never went to a single lecture or done any assignments. he is a chill dude, take his class if u can
Easy course for credit but you wont learn too much.
Amazing teacher. Gives easy exams. Easy A
His 3 midterm format is really good for this course. The labs are well done. Also he was very nice, because he was always willing to help with my questions about the assignments and midterms.
Great prof. Good at explaining concepts. Open to explaining anything you don't understand. No final, just several unit tests. Tests can be really hard or really easy, so you always gotta know your stuff. He tells us the kind of questions that will be on the exam, so that helps a lot with studying. And most importantly, his notes are soooo good!
Fantastic Prof. 5 quizzes, No Final. Tells you quiz questions ahead of time. Lectures are engaging and interesting. Funny guy too!
One of the best in engineering, great lectures, relavent assignments, reasonable exams.
This professor created a great student-professor relationship making it a joy to attend his classes and learn the material. Don't miss his lectures!
easy A but nothing to learn!
His comprehensible teaching style along with excellent course notes makes him an amazing instructor! Don's miss to take a course with him while you are still at U of A.
Avoid him if you can. lectures are not updated and there is nothing new to learn.
Easy to understand and taughtful lectures, you will enjoy taking his courses.
Avoid this prof if you can. so easy to pass but you learn nothing. Take similar course with other professors like microwave eng.
Avoid him. His teaching is horrible. Not sure if he knows what he is talking about. You will not learn anything. If I could I would take the course with someone else
Superb teacher! I wish we had him as the instructor of 200-level circuit courses.
Knowledgeable prof and very humble! Pleasant to interact with.
easy A but you will learn nothing. materials are not updated and very boring lectures.
Difficult to follow the lectures. Had 4 midterm exams and no final. Exams were always significantly harder than the homework problems and marked very hard. Received no feedback about any of the exams or the lab report, not even a class average.
It was hard to follow the materials and the exams were not as expected! did not get proper feedback!
Great prof! attend the lectures and you will do great in exams.
Great lectures! Amazing personality.
Not recommended!
Among top three professors in my years at U of A. Very energetic and enthusiastic about the material he teaches.
Took 304 with him, he is a great teacher and a great person.
ECE 402 is the best course I took in the program, very practical course, learned a lot about RF ICs and their applications in wireless communication, radar, etc. Labs were totally a great hands-on practice of RF circuit design.
Excellent lecture notes, well structured course at the same time very hallirous and friendly.
Speaks very clearly, actually finally learned from him how transistors work! tries his best to make the class as interactive as possible despite students often shying from answering his questions.
Teaches extremely difficult RF concepts the way you undestand them by heart (as he often says in the class). One probably needs to take several courses on the topic to master design and analysis of RF circuits, but he introduces each major RF circuit very well for you to get started.
Finally in his course I learned how a transistor works! great instructor and highly recommended.
Great lectures, one of the most useful tech elective course that you can take in ECE. Labs takes you through a project from design, simulation, PCB design, soldering, and RF testing.
Highly recommended!
With his experience in IC design, you will really learn a lot about integrated circuits in his course!
Very organized instructor and well-planned course. Several quizzes instead of one exam force students to keep up with the course progress. Taking 304 is a must if you want to know how digital ICs are built.
Dont Waste your time by taking this course
Do not listen to negtive comments posted, I am really enjoying the lectures he is giving (remotely) and appreciate his efforts to ensure most will understand the course material. Well done, Prof. Moez.
This professor is highly accessible outside the class, even in a remote delivery setup. Usually responds to students' emailsvery quickly. Highly recommended!
This professor really loves electronics from the bottom of his heart. Puts a lot of efforts into lectures, and gives great examples from the semiconductor industry.
Really humble and friendly personality. Share his personal contact information with students to reach him and ask their questions.
Very good course notes, explains the concepts thoroughly, very organized.
He's been teaching for a long time, and it shows. He also knows the material, and industry like nobody else. Great teacher, with good insights. Also his lecture notes were top-notch, and adapted well to online teaching for the pandemic (ugh).
The best professor in my undergraduate program at U of Alberta. Thank you Prof. Moez for providing career/industry insights in addition to the course material.
He puts a lot of effort into his teaching and he is passionate about the subject matter. Very good course notes, organized, and good connection between lectures, assignments, and quizzes/exams.
Prof. Moez is among the best profs that you can ever find at U of A. I love listening to his lecture, and I was ad he is not offering ECE 402 this year.
Great lecture notes, and greater lectures even delivered remotely.
Wow, I am really enjoying this course! crystal clear explanation of difficult concepts along with meticulously prepared lecture notes makes learning RF much easier! Thank you Prof. Moez.
Dr. Moez gave fair assignments and quizzes - the questions were very similar to the assignments. However, some of the assignment questions were very hard, and difficult to find similar examples online. The lectures weren't very good - he kept scrolling around, making it hard to take down notes, and he skips content mentioned in his eclass notes.
The contents, including assignments, quizzes, exams, and labs, were all based on scenarios of real-world CMOS RF-circuit designing. The lecture notes are well-organized. You can learn the fundamental knowledge of RF circuit designing, and CMOS technology. Lectures contained basic topologies and enhanced approaches to specific RF circuits.
His teaching is horrible! Not sure if he knows what he is talking about. He is not able to explain the stuff in a way the students can understand, difficult to follow the lectures. Avoid him.
Amazing Professor! there is a reason that his classes are always at capacity! if you get a chance to take one of his courses, you will not be regretting the experience!
Very good prof! Amazing lectures and excellent explanations! Also very funny, you never get board in his class.
If you want to start a career IC design, taking his ECE 650 course is a must! It is not an easy course, but you will learn a lot from the lectures and the project.
I am learning a lot in his course not only about RF but also other concepts I did not understand previously in my second and third year courses. He is an amazing Prof.
Best ECE Prof ever!
I am very happy that I am taking ECE 304 with Dr. Moez. He is really an expert in the area, and can teach very well.
Great lectures! Patient with answering questions over and over again! Wish to take more courses with him.
Dr Moez is a superb instructor!
The best prof in ECE!
The absolute GOAT!
Amazing lectures! No only teaches the course material vey well, it looks like that he is reviewing all we learned in last few years of Electrical Engineering! Wish to had him as instructor of earlier courses.
