The whole class you take notes off a PowerPoint. She does not really give extra credit. Most students average in the C to D range.
I thought she was pretty easy, as long as you study the notes for the test you will do fine. i havent even touched the book all semester. the whole grade consists of 5 tests and thats it. no homework or anything. she is nice too.
The average for this class is a 61%. You have to study, study, study to pass this class. She is very nice and is willing to help. 100% of the time you are taking notes off a powerpoint and getting hand cramps. (I would not take her again)
she is a new teacher and she teaches by power point, which totally sucks, she sits and explains the information while your struggling to write it down so none of the info has time to soak in, she gives no handouts to help you out, no practice tests, so your basically on your own on the exams, which unless you love science,u will fail!
Worst teacher i have ever had!! NOt helpful, and is a new teacher, exams are ridiculous must have alot of time to commit to her class, which most of us dont
Hard class, but if you can go to her office hours it really helps. The class covers a huge amount of material, she's not for everyone but she's clear about what you need to know.
As you are frantically copying information down from the powerpoint, she brings up additional information that are on the tests but not in the notes, so doing really well on the tests is difficult. The content of her tests are pretty basic, but she uses a lot of trickery. Must be a visual and semi auditory learner and a linear thinker to do well.
the worst teacher i ever had, class avarge is a d and that should say something, she gives you no time to copy down the power point which is her sole way of teaching, which doesnt really do any good. she gives no extra credit and doesnt exactly teach any thing show does slide shows. worst teacher avoid at all cost
I dont know why everyone thinks she is so bad... shes really clear on everything and uses powerpoints which are helpful because it is visual and she friggen emails you the outlines so you know exaclty what to copy from her notes... i didnt study for the first test and got a 48% so I decided i should study and i got a 89%.. dont be lazy just study!
The only points you get in the class are the tests which are pretty hard. No homework is assigned, just the lecture. She is willing to meet and help but still, the class is very difficult. Not much of the class passed.
Kammy is enthusiastic about the course and cares about the students! She is a challanging prof and bio is not a class you can pass easily without studying! Read the chapters, come to class and take notes! She emails study sheets that reflect the tests and she is always available during office hours. If you don't apply yourself, its your own fault!
I got 102% in this class with little study... but many people did find the class difficult- the average grade is C/D. *shrug* She gives some extra credit stuff, but with the exception of the final (short survey for 5 points), it's a lot to do for little credit (20 problems for 2 points?). Won't hand out powerpoint slides if you miss which is lame.
Kammy is an extremely difficult teacher! Her lectures are intense and if you don't plan on spending at least 2 hours out of class studying you will not pass.
This teacher comes off easy but is not is not that she is hard she does not know how to explain anything in a clear way or out of her lizard world she lives in. Gives homework and the point for how much it is a waste of time and if that wasn’t enough she takes a lot of points off no extra credit only test bases says she bases the test on notes but
this teacher is ruthless.Run before she gives u a d,or f.Trying to pass her class is like playing the lottery your lucky if u could get a c and even then you learn nothing because your so stressed out all u think of is what to do to pass. ADVICE dont take her it will be waste of ti no mattmeer how much u study you will have a hard time passing!!!
In my opinion this teacher had a REALLY bad experience while going 2 school her self and probably became a teacher (I don’t know HOW ) to get back at the school life. Seems like she enjoys to watch people fail her class. She should loose her job t some one who knows what there doing
THIS teacher is hard ...hard..hard....
WOW this teacher is something out of this world i think she speds more time writing out the exams than her note to teach

definitely not a fan
I absolutely adore this professor. She understands her subject&if u're @ anytime confused,ASK questions!!!She'll help u w/ whatever you need. Don't blame ur failures on her. She's not the student, u are.Pay attention, go2class, study hard,& u'll pass.I promise.Plus, she's always available2help durin her office hours.BTW this class isn't4the lazy.TC

Great teacher! Extremely helpful, will answer ALL your question, even if it take 20 emails. Biology is not a easy subject, so you have to study. But if you go to classes, and get all the notes, and study the notes, you will definitely get an A.
Wow,there are some students that can't deal with their own failure! Kammy is amazing, it is refreshing to have a teacher at VC that actually teaches and doesn’t just hand out an A. She is helpful, gives lots of extra credit, very little homework and is always willing to help. Her tests are right out of lecture and she is very clear.I loved her clas
Great teacher! Vary friendly and helpful, not hard but you have to study! I wish she taught more of the Bio classes. I would definitely recommend her to all who actually want to LEARN biology.
Several people have posted that Ms. Algiers moves too fast on the PowerPoint lectures...did anybody ask her to slow down? Just wondering. I am taking her in January 08 and I am a little concerned about some of the posts.
Kammy obviously put a lot of effort into preparing for class, and was always willing to slow down or re-explain something. She was very available to students. I actually wish she had asked more of us on the tests. Basically my only complaint: occasionly she sacrificed technical precision to make difficult concepts really accessible to anyone.
Difficult but very nice. I reccommend taking bio lab with her, it's fun and she's very helpful.
this class is very informative and structured...you learn a lot of information and her tests are the same as her class note information...not sure why so many people think her class is that hard...as long as you come to class and study the information and learn the information on her notes you should be ok
If you need to take biology, you should go to moorpark. Kammy tries to be Miss. Biology, but if you ask her a question that is not in the book she scrambles to try and give you an answer. If you are not going to be a biologist then she has not respect for you and could care less if you pass or not.
Take this class at moorpark or oxnard. She is not at all a good instructor. The only thing she is good at is trying to be cool with all the kids and reciting her never ending power point notes and the text book. Try asking her a question that is not in the book and watch her scramble to answer.

ok cleary the last few comments were from the same idiot who probably decided to never show up and/or study. KAMMY IS A GREAT TEACHER! she makes outlines FOR YOU! and you just fill in the blanks. honestly, it's really not that hard. just go to class and look over the outlines (THAT SHE DOES FOR YOU) before tests. i love you, kammy!
the same people that failed the class commented at least 10 times each. poor unfortunate souls... kammy is excellent. she's young, hip, down to earth and fun. knows her material, and offers plenty of extra time for study sessions before tests. she's amazing. you learn a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY LEARN
kammy is the best professor I've taken at ventura college ! I was never good in any of the science field, but trust me. just show up to class and understand everything from the notes and you'll be fine. people who are just plain lazy are the only ones who fail this class. she gives you so much extra time to help you, study sessions
Kammy uses a lot of powerpoint but she adds animation to it and tries to make it fun. As long as you go to class and fill out the outlines she gives you, you'll do fine. MC tests are not hard if you do the worksheets. She's really cool and likes to have fun.
she's such a good professor. you actually learn and it's fun ! she makes bio fun. take this professor for bio !you'll love it!multiple choice Q's.study your outlines and you'll be FINE.above all, you'll love biology after her class
I can tell shes not an idiot in whatever field is her expertise. but when it comes to teaching these biology classes, shes very disorganized, and often lacks the quality of grammar that is expected from most teachers (esp. tests).
Kammy is the BEST teacher! She takes TIME to answer questions. She makes sure the class is following her lectures. She is kind, funny and KNOWS HER STUFF! Somebody posted that she is not organized and I was SHOCKED! She is SO organized!!! Take this class.....but don't look for an EASY A...you will work hard, but the material is so interesting!
yeah she's a little tough, but she offers so much extra help. and she knows her stuff. plus, for those of you who actually stick around til the end, she TOTALLY hooks it up. serious. i would totally take another class with kammy
Very hard class. Test are impossible. She does not test off of her outlines and lectures. Asks questions about details that are not important. When asked questions, she does not explain clearly and overall is not a good professor. Do not take her!
she is very hard and dose not care if you pass the class or not dont waste your time with her
I have had her for both Bio 1A&lab and Bio 14( field biology) She is the best teacher by far at VC. Those who say she is hard and isn't a good teacher, obviously don't attend class enough. She knows her stuff and helps in anyway she can. She is also a very fun teacher, and makes the subject interesting! thanx Kammy! looking forward to biology club
used fill in outlines for each chapter. if you miss class your kind of lost. She is more than available to help when needed. this is just a hard topic.
Prof. Algiers is great! She teaches you the material in an understandable manner and makes it interesting. She has useful power points/notes & gives very helpful homework! She is extremely nice and has time to help if needed. 98% of exam questions are from lectures =] attend class and you'll pass!! Awesome Professor!
HARD! Very hard, unless you know and have some type of understanding of the subject all ready. Outlines given out by her are helpful, but not really realted to test question. Test are very hard and very deep questions that are not covered in class. She teaches the subject well, it just the test that are very hard! As a person shes very nice
very helpful. has good note taking/study guide system. must attend class as much as possible or you get lost.
Very helpful, young and good-looking. The class itself is somewhat difficult but she helps you with it along the way. If you try hard, you won't get lower than a B or an A.
Nice person, very strict, covers a lot of information, available for help, you have to work for a good grade, but its not impossible.
It's a medium hard class unless you put the effort to listen and try to comprehend the notes. Read the books and study and you'll pass the test. The tests are based basically off outlines with a few added questions.
She's one of my favorite professors, she makes learning easy even though it can be a lot of information. She's nice and funny both in and outside of class, very helpful. Her outlines make the material easy to understand and if you attend class regularly, it's easy to pass w an A on the tests and the class in general...Her lab class is good too.
The lab had a quiz every weeks, but she offered extra credit which made up for the few points lost... There's a field trip too. The class was outlined and very easy if you put some effort into it. The final was easy, too.
Listen this is a HARD class... Kammy talks fast and rips through the lecture! She is really nice and down to earth but do not let that fool you she is TOUGH! I studied and am a good student and received a C which is the class average... Hard class take it if you are up to a challenge; Tests are VERY hard!
Seems as tough she doesn't really know what shes talking about...reads the lectures insted of teaching them to you. You will rely on your textbook to pass this class. Don't bother asking her a question she will confuse you even more. She is a very sweet person, but not the best teacher
She is very willing to explain things until you get it. Lots of people struggled with the class because it's based on tests and she doesn't drop one! I passed by studying the outlines and knowing the key terms that she gives you. I think I read the first chapter of the book and that was it. It doesn't help that much but it might.
I was a Biology whiz before I took Kammy's class. Everything that I once found incredibly easy to understand was ruined in my mind.. She over-explained everything and got too much into nitty, gritty details, while at the same time, seeming like she didn't even knew what she was talking about herself! I would definately take another professor.
I hope the other comments left were about another class she teaches, because for BIO1, it's not that hard. She has an SI in the class im taking and she works with us. Her lectures are a little fast but she also gives you the notes, and you just fill in the key points. if you just study the notes and terms, you should get at least a B! w/o the book.
I concur with the last comment. She does go a little fast. But if you study your notes and key terms you should be able to do ok. So far I have a C. Kammy's cool.
I slept through most lectures, didn't buy the book, didn't study and I got a B. You don't have to be a super genius (like me) to pass. Kammy gives you everything you need to pass, including extra credit assignments. If you fail, you probably deserve it. Overall, not a bad teacher if you need to get Biology V01 out of the way.
lectures came from powerpoints. she grades hard and doesnt really cover most material well. she encourages you to see the tutor, but i think its because lectures arent covered that well. I'm getting a B and it's only thanks to my book. save your time, take someone else.
you learn about bio, powerpoints are easy to follow, gives outlines to powerpoint, tests kind of hard, but guarenteed B.
When you take this class make sure you invest a lot of time to study! Her tests are very hard and complex, she uses trick questions and you must memorize lecture outlines and key terms to pass her tests! There is about 10 pages per outline and about 25 Key terms to memorize per outline. 1 test =four chapters which =4 lecture outlines to memorize!
This teacher is hard!!!! If your not a good test taker do not take her...you can earn up to 650 points in her class but of that 650, 600 are test points the 50 is all the homework. She's a really nice girl, but brushes you off to the tutoring or S.I. meetings. She doesn't curve the grade either!! Do NOT take her if you already have a busy schedule
Not a very fun class. The instructor is all about the powerpoint. You will use your book alot and dont count on teacher too much-shes confusing. Class has a tutor, but she's a little odd. If you take this class, you should expect to do the work yourself, dont ask the instuctor because shell try to pawn you off to the tutor.
As a few have said, Kammy's class IS challenging. That said, I came here to learn and that is what I did. I would recommend reading each chapter and also using the Companion Website for the textbook. This helped a LOT. I found her extremely helpful and found the tutor LESS helpful! I received a "A" in the class but you must work for it!Nice Person!
Kammy was a pretty good teacher. She knew the material really well and just lectured with powerpoint and drew out diagrams for harder concepts. Tests are multiple choice but pretty challenging, but as long as you go to class, take notes on lecture outlines you print out yourself, and study your outlines, you should be good.
Ok.I figured I would be able to take this in the summer and get it over with, but it's harder than I thought. Teacher is mediocre and she has two tutors to help her, and judging by the way she teaches, she needs all the help she can get.I'm using my book alot, and went to see the tutor(Katli?)--big disappointment.reading on my own now, doing better
HARD!!!
Teacher is kinda ok. She appears to be helpfull and all but I've yet to see it. dont waste your time--take someone else
I really didn't like this class. Biology is my major, but if I have to take any more classes with her I'll switch to something else! she confused me more when I went to see her after class.
She is definitely into Biology, but she unfortunately does not have the ability to make it fun or exciting to the students. It could be that she was in a hurry to finish her lectures. I got the feeling that she favors some students more than others (for example taking a late paper). Nice person, but stay away from her summer courses.
Uses power point a lot, but draws out the more complex material (ie: photosynthesis and cellular respiration) Overall, I felt the class was fairly easy. Fill out and study the outlines, and do the homework and you should be fine. I didn't use the tutors or her if I was confused, I simply read the book, which was helpful for me.
Seriously easiest class ever. You don't even really need the book. She tests from what's on the power point which she emails you a copy of which you can print out. If you thought this class was hard it was because you had bad attendance. Duh to pass a class you have to actually attended it and listen to the lecture. GET OVER IT!!!!!
shes very helpful, but she definately makes you study. the tests are hard.
Best bio teacher ever! I took this class over the summer at VC. She is young which can throw you off at first (I thought she was a student when she first walked in)but the material she teaches is solid and she explains everything you ask. I didnt do her newspaper article and still passed with an A! Little homework during summer, book/lectures HELP!
Like with everything else, you get out what you put in.
Great teacher! Very enthusiatic. Knows her material well and practices what she teaches. Tests can be a little tough though.
Kammy knows her subject very well. Her lectures are from powerpoints and notes takin are fill in the info. Must attend every class and not just memorize the notes. However understand the concept. I took the 6 week summer session class at pulled it off with a B. Be prepared to study cause this is not an easy class. Definitly!!!!
Very difficult teacher. I had perfect attendance, studied hard, got three B's and one C on the exams, turned in all my assignments, participated in class, and got a C!. Not fair. Her tests are extremely hard and many questions were not covered in lecture.
Kammy is a wonderful teacher and person. She is great at what she does and expects alot from her students. She does not drop the lowest test score. Biology is tough, but I would take the lecture and lab together.
Kammy covers all test material during lecture, comments that say otherwise are from people who were not paying attention. She is very good about saying what will be on the test and is happy to offer extra help during her office hours. I would not recomend taking her class if you just want to half ass everything and still get an A. It won't happen.
Kammy is a very good instructor. She know the subject very well and is personally interested in her field. She has a great personality and is willing to spend time with anybody needing help or expanded knowledge.Class will be difficult for slackers.Tests are representative of her lecture outline. Highly recommend her for Biology majors students.
She's a good teacher, but you can't miss ONE SINGLE CLASS if you don't read the textbook. Go to the tutors test review and you'll be like guaranteed a B. This class isn't easy, which is what most of the lames in my class thought, but it isn't impossible. I got a 4 on the BIO AP test, and I still BARELY got an A in this class. By like one point!
to hard, doesn't cover everything that she puts on test. final was ridiculous
A lot of people complain about the power points. She provides an outline that is 85% filled out and you fill in the blanks with the power point lectures. I couldn't imagine writing that much down, so it was a way to provide a lot of info in a little time. Tests can be difficult. If you failed the class you didn't study.
Kammy helps her students succeed. If you do all your work and show interest. You will pass. Math and Science is not my strongest point. I dropped bio before. Glad I took and passed with Kammy
Such a good teacher. She does not test you on anything that she didn't discuss. You just need to study a lot! Her notes are super easy to follow. Highly recommended.
liked her a lot. practically gives you the lecture notes; you just fill in a few blanks. hardly used the textbook but you HAVE to read the extra book ITJ. You can't just scootch by in the class, but she doesn't make it that hard to pass. you just have to actually try.
Love her. She is young and super helpful. You do have to study and be prepared for the exams but she give the notes online which makes the lectures easy to follow. She will always help you if you ask. I highly recommend going to the study sessions that are offered.
(lecture class)hardest biology teacher. doesn't cover anything on her tests. do not take.
She's a good teacher. Tests can be a little difficult sometimes, but for the most part are fairly easy. There's not really much homework, most the class is based on quizzes and tests. She's also a really nice person. If you mess up she'll give you another chance (like if you miss a test or something). I recommend her.
Awesome teacher!
Kammy is the best! Someone said that she does not cover anything on her tests, which is a total lie! She does not test you on anything that isn't on her notes, all you have to do is study them and actually know the subject to some degree! The homework and quizzes are easy points so you just have to make sure you study thoroughly for the tests!
She is very helpful, willing to answer questions, cares about her students. Great teacher who love lizards
Kammy is an excellent teacher. She is truly passionate, and is felt in her lessons.
Kammy is a very sweet lady. But her teaching isnt so good. She goes really fast and you have four test (all consisting of 4-5 chapters at one time). The test are 50q's multiple choice but alot of info to remember. I wouldnt recommend to anyone who doesnt like biology! Her lab is okay but still hard as well because she isn't clear on what she wants.
She is very enthusiastic. The class goes fast. Attend all the lectures so you get her notes. I owe my A to my flash cards. Memorize her notes.
She knows her stuff well thats for sure! Her tests are hard so you have to sacrifice hours to study for her test which consist 5 chapters in one test. she needs to offer extra credit! I spend 10 hours a weeks studying for the test and I still am not getting as good of a grade i want to!
I learned a great deal in this class and looked forward to being in her class. The only thing I would say that needs change is the exam study material she gives in class. Do NOT only study these, for the exams are much different and you must really understand the material thoroughly to do well on the exams.
Very easy going. Loved her class, she's very understanding and helpful if you don't understand a subject. She unfortunately allows immature students to ask silly questions but she does her best to keep the class in line. Her tests are based largely off her powerpoints, I never opened my book, just print them out and study off of the notes she provides and you will do fine.
She is very nice and her class is a breeze. In summer session...As long as you pay attention in class and take the notes on the outline she gives you, you'll get an A. There is online mastering biology hw and into the jungle quizzes which are ok. But overall it is very easy. 4 tests and final are based off the outline notes. Love her!
She is all notes. you print out the notes and then she lectures the whole class. some of the chapters are interesting and i found them helpful for my life possibly. but i personally had a hard time listening to her because sometimes i felt that it was too long of a class, use the study sessions with meredith. she saved my grade in bio and makes everything so clear. this class take actual work but i thought it was alright over all. the final is easy i think and she give u 5 points extra credit.
You have to take online quizzes on a book called into the jungle. they are easy to find in the book. you also do homework online and it counts for your final grade.
Kammy is a fantastic and very caring teacher. Even though it's a very difficult subject, if you 1) study the notes she passed out in class, 2)do all the homework, 3)pay attentions in class, and 4)go tutoring (I would recommended Meredith) then I guaranteed that you will have a good grade in that class!:)I got an A! It's really an interesting class:)
Kammy is very knowlegable but She does not give you the feeling that she wants to share her knowledge w/you. she seems unapproachable most of the time. I just dont think her heart is in teaching. I got a good grade in her class but worked hard and she is telling the truth when she says her class is not easy.
I REALLY REALLY ENJOYED HER CLASS! SHE LOVES WHAT SHE IS TEACHING AND KNOWS A HECK OF A-LOT-A STUFF ABOUT IT! I DEF. RECOMMEND TAKING HER BIO. CLASS! I DIDN'T HAVE A BIO. CLASS IN HIGH SCHOOL, SO I HAD TO TRY REALLY HARD! SHE'S AWESOME WISHED SHE TAUGHT MICRO.
An ok teacher but every time you ask her a question she looks and sounds annoyed already and tells you that you should know already. I passed her class but it wasn't easy. I wasn't interested in taking her class twice. Half the class were taking it with her for the second time.
Took her for the lecture and LAB. NEVER AGAIN. She literally wants you to present to her every single part of the experiment so she can sign a little box. If your into science this is for you-Slackers won't do well. :/
Best teacher I have ever had. I started the class with no passion, and now I love biology. She puts everything in her notes that you will be tested on. She will answer any question in class or over an email. Someone said on here that she doesn't go over what's on the test?? not true she definitely does. that person must not have showed up to class.
I LOVE KAMMY. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW BIOLOGY AND YOUR NOT JUST LOOKING TO GET AN A WITHOUT LEARNING ANYTHING TAKE THIS CLASS!!! KAMMY IS AWESOME. SHE EVEN REFERRED ME TO BE A TUTOR! I DON'T THINK IV EVER LEARNED SO MUCH FROM SOMEONE. IF YOU DON'T STUDY EVER AND DON'T WANT TO LEARN DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. D2L AND MB ROCK
She made a lot of mistakes on grading the tests and if you showed her where the mistake was she seemed like she thought you were trying to trick her. Always seemed very put out by special requests. The online stuff did not always work properly, but she would not accept that as a possibility.
I thought she was passionate, helpful, funny, and knowledgable. I found the homework and study material to be very easy and accessible online. I thought she was cute too.
This class was difficult but her teaching does help clarify. Open to questions. Her final grading is fair.
I took her Online class, she is funny, and very passionate about her lectures. There are times you feel she is new to teaching, as the lectures are very long winded at times, but you learn the material if you apply yourself.
Great teacher, great class. Definitely not a show up and pass class. Participation is required!
She knows her stuff! Shes a GREAT teacher!
Great teacher, very knowledgeable. Be prepared to learn!
I'd highly recommend taking Biology with Kammy. She's kind, explains things in a way that is easy to understand, and is there for you when you need her. The class itself is a lot of work but if you read the book, show up to the lectures, do your homework, and study I'm sure you'll be pleased with your grade.
Tests count for most of the grade and are long, ridiculously difficult. Mastering Biology is a rip off and there's an expensive book on top of that. I have been keeping up with the homework, reading, and listening tostudying the online lectures and am barely passing. Don't take this class if you have a bad memory and don't love biology.
Took online class and had a hard time understanding her lectures. Decided to read each ch and take my own notes instead of her study guides, did much better. Mastering Biology is horrible, rarely works wo freezing, waste of money. Never puts work online in a timely matter. Don't expect to get turned in work in a timely matter. Don't recommend
She has powerpoints and goes over them, she goes a little fast and at times can be a little unorganized, not my best teacher.. but she was nice
Loved Kammy and the class. She was very straight forward with all assignments and tests and is always available for help. It is a challenging course, but I enjoyed it and would recommend her for Bio!! Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well you need to go to the lectures.
Kammy is great!!! Had her for both lecture and lab, definelty have to study, but once you get through the first test, you are ready for the others. Super helpful with the final, and super easy to talk to! Absolutely recommend taking her.
UGH don't take her, horrible and rude.
yeah... so i took this class with about 100 students. i dropped it like 3 months in. Turns out that when the class ended. only 25 students were left. Even the nursing students who need a B to pass dropped out. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS she makes it seem like we are all good at this topic. She Made me feel stupid.
After having a terrible bio teacher before, Algiers was wonderful. If you were unclear on something, she would always rephrase or go slower. The notes for her lectures were great because she would give you an outline, and all you need to do is fill in the blanks, or draw the picture that went with the examples. but seriously study for the tests.
In my opinion she gives to much info at once. Loves her job, but needs to remember not everyone is capable of keeping her pace and needs to slow it down
maybe my first mistake was to do an online class especially Bio. You are expected to read the chapter, view the online lectures which can be 1-3 lectures per chapt. & runs 45-105 mins each lecture. I think its way to much as for help she is available though email but not so much for in person help. grading is more of a pass or fell no extra credit.
I'm taking four online classes and she gives as much as work as all three combined. It's not hard just so much work. Be ready to study a lot and devote at least 10-15 hours per week just to her class!
She is really chill and is willing to help you in what ever way she can. Her lectures and assignments are pretty clear and were interesting. Her study guides help a ton so its important to attend her class or you will miss notes. She also posts a lot of online content that is helpful for when exams come up so be sure to check that out as well!
She is a GREAT teacher. If anyone is giving her a bad rating it's because they did not study. She gives you all the tools you need to do well in class. She is always willing to help. She is funny, inspirational and one of the best teachers I have ever had. But you MUST STUDY! There is a lot of material. If you study, you will do well.
Kammy's Field bio class was soon fun. Fun and educational.
She was great and i thought she was cool when she would get excited about bio. She enjoys what she does and helps you out if you ask. I would recommend :)
Kammy is awesome! I took her hybrid Biology V01 class in the summer, and it was great. The grade that you receive in the end is the exact reflection of how much work you put into her class. Book is not needed. Study her class lectures notes for exams. Tests can be tough if you didn't do your part by studying.
Kammy is an exceptional person and professor. She covers a lot of information, and it is a hard class, but if you do you're part you will be successful. Lots of work, but straightforward. She cares about students learning. Ps. Not my first rodeo - I have a doctorate.
She's a great teacher and she knows her stuff. Show up to every class. Don't be late the quizzes are in the first 10 minutes. Make sure to fill in every question in the handbook or you will loose points. She's is a nice professor. The quizzes can be tricky.
I took her 8 week online BIOV01 class, and most of your grade is dependent on tests and quizzes. Quizzes are online with a time limit, and the midterm and final are on campus. A lot of the quiz questions aren't on the study guide she gives for each chapter, so I find myself using google a lot. She waits awhile to grade assignments.
Science is not my strong suit, nor math. I had to take the class because it was part of my reqs. I switched to her class after having the worst experience with another professor at VC. She made the material interesting and condensed it in a manner that I was able to grasp with just a little extra effort. Highly recommend!
I took Professor Algiers for my lab class and she is a teacher who is very devoted about her work. Just make sure to do the lab manuals as she compiles everything in one notebook. Dont cram yourself and do everything at once because you have to turn it in on the day of practical exams. She is very reliable and always updates canvas.
Kammy is an exceptional instructor! You can tell she loves what she does and is very passionate. You only have to go to class for exams, quizzes are online. You don't need to buy/rent the textbook because she provides you with Youtube videos and an easy to follow study guide. You do have to work to get a good grade, but I learned a lot. Bio was fun
This online class is pretty simple. You have lectures then quizzes to take. Gives you a study guide based on all her lectures, totally recommend this class!
I took professor Algiers 6 week summer class online. The work load was heavy but that's to be expected. She posted lecture videos so you didn't necessarily have to sit and read all the time, Just didn't like that she does not give feedback on graded items so you cant use worksheets to study for tests which are on campus (mid-term&Final)
Took her late-start online bio class. she was very clear with the class criteria/schedule. Her video lectures were easy to follow and she provided study guides for every chapter. It's a lot of info though so i struggled with both the final & midterm. Online textbook but her lectures/guides were enough. Actually really liked her class!
I honestly used to hate biology before Kammy's class. She has such a bright personality and does her best to make the subject easy to understand while keeping the material at a college level. The lectures are available online, but physically going to the class makes things easier to understand.
Fair. Heavy on powerpoints with occasional videos. But I did enjoy her energy and passion for biology.
I took her for the 6 week summer semester. The workload was heavy which is to be expected when doing 18 weeks worth of work into 6 weeks. The midterm and final were on campus and I struggled with both of them despite studying.
Took class last spring online. Shes nive but class is extrwmely hard. Lots of homework. I took another bio class online and passed with an A, and it wasnt this hard. Way too difficult
DO NOT take from her! She is the hardest teacher you will ever encounter, her tests dont match her study guides and quizzes and tests is her main focus. Forget about talking to her about your struggles because she claimed that shes given you all the resources when in reality she is extremely confusing. Save your grade and take from someone else.
Kammy is the best professor I've had at VC. She's so passionate about the subject, she leads the best field trips, she knows her stuff, and class is always so fun and interesting no matter what we're doing. I'm honestly considering changing my career path because she has made the subject so appealing and completely intriguing. You rock Kammy!
Kammy is open, caring, and makes her students feel comfortable to participate/ask questions. She works with students to create her tests, so we decide what we're tested on. There is very little homework, but you MUST study to succeed. Overall, Kammy is really funny and laid back, and I always look forward to attending her class. You'll love her!

I took her hybrid class with lecture only once a week. It was great. She managed to cover everything. There was chapter quizzes and unit test but all content that was reviewed. No surprises on anything.
I took professor Algiers course online, she is the most organized instructor ever. She provides enough materiel to help you throughout the class. I would totally take her other classes.
Ms. Algiers is an awesome professor ! She truly does care to help her students to ensure they are successful in her class. I love how passionate she is for her students and science. I am in her summer class so it is pretty fast paced but she definitely keeps it fun and I am learning a lot. I'm glad I have Kammy as my professor !
She says that she tests you on only what she covers, its a lie. Her tests were the hardest thing I have ever taken. The average for the class was almost always an F or C. Gives you a ton of homework and lab work, she is lenient and loves to teach her students. But her tests are extremely unfair to the students.
This semester has been nothing short of awful, given the fact that it's all online. Prof Algiers has been an amazing professor. She's extremely flexible, and willing to work with you to keep you caught up in the class. She's really understanding, passionate about the subject, and just overall really great!! 10/10 would take her again.
Quiz and assignments on spring break??? :/
She is really down to earth and loves the subject that she teaches. I took macro bio and field bio and it was awesome. It really challenged me but it made me love bio so much more. For advanced bio you need to be prepared to study- but its worth it if youre a bio or environmental science major!
It's a majors biology course, so expect it to be difficult. Lots of assignments to get done, but she is understanding if you email her with any concerns you have. You can tell that she is passionate about the subject. Not sure if I would've done as well in this course if it wasn't online with recorded videos though.
I loved taking this class. Professor was always super understanding and available outside of class and her zoom classes were fun and worthwhile to attend. There was a lot of work to do but the deadlines were pretty flexible especially if you talk with her beforehand. 10/10 would recommend.
i love professor algiers. one of the best lecture profs ive ever had. very organized, caring, and really wants you to succeed in her class. gives very good feedback. and doesnt seem judgy like other profs
Loved Kammy! In BioV03, she made fill-in-the-blank notes to go along with lecture videos. She's very caring and was gracious during Covid and the year online. She WANTS her students to succeed. So passionate about biology! I've got to mention that she made quite a few mistakes/typos in assignments - that was frustrating, but Kammy is a real gem!
Kammy was one of my favorite professors this year. This class is a lot of work as can be expected for a 5 unit course but everything was very straightforward and easy to navigate. She's always very helpful and gives good feedback on assignments, and the field trips we were able to go on were a lot of fun.
This class was fun and I enjoyed the lectures, though I'd rather be at home. The only thing I would say about her class is that the exams are hard and you NEED to study. I recommend 2-4 hours the week of, and 1-2 hours right before! Her exams have lots of little things you might not have thought would have been important, and labeling diagrams.
She is an awesome professor, very caring. I love her skeleton notes and still look back through them every once in a while. Also took her for BIOL V01 and it was definitely a jump in terms of difficulty. It's a lot of memorization but if you stay on top of it you'll be fine. I also recommend seeing her before every test so you know what to study.
She's really nice and will make sure you understand the material in class. She'll take the time to really explain anything you might be stuck on, which really helped me. The tests were kinda tough but if you study it shouldn't be too bad.
Professor Algiers is an exceptional professor. The lectures were very easy to follow despite being online. She provides you with fill-in-the-blanks notes, which truly helped me learn the material. If you ever get lost, don't be afraid to reach out for help. There are quite a few unit tests, but you should be good as long as you study.
I would say, originally shes a great person from meeting her as a person, but her own love of Biology is transferred in our class in huge proportions. She expects us to live and breathe bio. It's a 5 unit class, so the work was expected, but it's heavily disorganized and expect rude emails from her. She's also very stubborn and will not curve.
Her passion for biology is admirable, her indifference toward students is not. A ridiculous amount of work, not that the material is extremely hard but the amount of work required makes it seem so.
Difficult Grader, Impatient. I missed only one assignment and got dropped from the course, and it was the middle of the semester, Never again.
Very complicated profesor does not consider students time outside of class. Is arrogant, very unorganized, lectures online so no way to get clarification on things, very picky on notebooks, labs feel very last minute planned, exams very hard expects you to memorize everything & her lectures are all online!
Worst professor, I've had at this school. I don't know what it is, but shes the most rude, uncaring, and unbending teacher, when it comes to her love of ecology/doing things her way or the highway. You need to know everything for exams, but her study guide is useless for studying. Another teacher teaches under her name, hes actually helpful.
I don't really get the bad reviews, honestly the class isn't that bad the lab online can be a pain tho. The professor is nice and I think has office hours every week, if you put in the work then you should pass also if you have a good study method then exams shouldn't be bad.
Never spoke to her directly - can't comment on her style. Her BIO 100 class was a lot of work, especially for a 2-unit 1st year lecture class, but completing her "study guides" did help with exams. If you put in the time, an A is easily earned (I got 97% overall with no curving that included a "C" on one unit exam). Her online format is very good.
I have pretty mixed feelings about this class. Professor Kam is a cool person and the fieldtrips that we took were really fun and interesting, but the teaching and grading was brutal. Lecture was online and had too much info from to grasp what was important. Notebooks always "needed more details." Our class exam averages were at 70% at the best.
She very clearly cares about what she's doing and who she's teaching. Quiz questions are assembled randomly from a pool so sometimes you'll have the same questions twice. Quiz let has your back.
She definitely loves biology so do not expect an easy A in this class. Work load can be a lot. You really have to put effort into studying to be able to memorize the material otherwise her exams will seem super difficult. In my opinion she can organize things a little better when it comes to the online lectures. Class has some fun fieldtrips.
Pretty good professor, there is a lot of assignments but most of them aren't too hard and I kinda liked it because at the end it will balance out your grade. Exams aren't that hard but you do need to study for them since a lot of it is labeling diagrams and remember parts of organisms. Overall I would recommend.
Amazing professor, she really takes her time to explain herself and help out when you are having trouble.
Challenging class, but Kammy makes it fun. Lots of work, but worth it - her passion shows. For study prep, try Unstuck AI alongside the textbook.
Super sweet and caring! She's so understanding and willing to help you get a good grade no matter what. She is really flexible and as long as you do your homework you'll pass. The lectures are short and easy to remember also, which is good if u have other classes. It's an easy A tbh and she's a good professor.
Kammy is very kind and understanding. As long as you do all of your assignments on time and studying you can definitely get an A in this class. Do NOT procrastinate doing your lab notebook!!!! The class itself isn't very challenging but did have many assignments. Be prepared to go on field trips, they're the best part! Highly recommend Kammy.
Amazing professor; sparked my passion for biology. Lots of fun field trips, kind and helpful person to ask questions to. Yes, it's a lot of work, but it's a biology course so that's to be expected. Study your note packets thoroughly before exams and you'll do amazing. Great quality and everything was super fun. Highly recommend Kammy!
One of the best teachers I have had. Sets up study sessions before each test and attends them in case we have questions. Provides detailed study guides that are relevant to the tests. Incredibly available outside of class. You will have to put in work for this class, but if you do you will be a better scientist! Wants her students to succeed.
Very nitpicky on assignments and expects things to be perfect. Take Anna carlson instead she's so much better, actually cares about her students, is actually helpful unlike Kam.
She is such a nice professor. Attend lecture, make sure you study the lecture notes and turn in work on time from the modules and you should be good
She's very picky about assignments and will literally give you incomplete credit if you don't do it her way so make sure you follow all her instructions on the assignments and you'll be good! Her lecture consists of fill in the blank note packets that she goes over both during lab and lecture !
