Kamilla was amazing. I entered the class with low hopes of it being exciting or interesting. Kamilla really turned it around, and made the class super fun and enjoyable. She was very charismatic and gave great examples and made everything easy to understand. Thanks for a fun class, Kamilla! It ended up being my favourite of the term!

Dr. Pietrzyk made an otherwise boring class interesting. She was approachable, and really wanted students to understand the material. I hope she comes back to McMaster as I would love to have another class taught by her, she was amazing!

She's amazing! Attendance in her class are mandatory if you want to receive marks. In terms of tests she's really fair and her lectures are pretty engaging. Kamilla gives out a lot of in-class activities so you have the opportunity to increase your participation grade.

Dr. Pietrzyk is the kind of prof that inspires you to stay informed about the contemporary and the historical. Her use of multi-media sources (i.e. photos, videos, documentaries, debates, fieldwork, online newsblogs etc.) was most appreciated by a visual learner like myself. This was my favourite course of the semester. Hats off to Dr. Pietrzyk!

For a new-ish teacher, she is way ahead of the game. Her classes are interactive, interesting, and innovative. She expects your attention and your attendance, but she deserves them.

I took both of Professor Pietryzk's classes (COMN 3220 and COMN 3221) and both of the classes were probably the most engaging classes (good mix of oldcurrent issues) I had taken at York. Her lectures are great, the course structure allows you to learn with added inspiration to create tangible change within our society. A+ teacher and course!

Awesome professor who really knows what she is talking about. I learned a lot in her class and I always looked forward to her lectures. If you're looking for a class to join for Summer 2015 or Fall 2015, I recommend this course. Kamilla is a great lecturer and brings in a lot of outside content (guest lecturers, real world examples, current news) into her lectures and the topics that she covers. She is very passionate about her work and the content that she teaches in addition, to being well versed on the content and not afraid to allow a good class discussion to happen!

Kamilla was one of the best professors I've had during my three years at York University. Organizing Social Movements was such a fun and interactive course and Kamilla's passion for the subject was contagious. Very passionate, we had debates in class, group assignments and interesting guest speakers. She uses technology in class such as YouTube, uploading her slides on moodle, Facebook page that helps you gets participation marks. Great course, very useful and important material that are covered.

She's a really passionate professor with extensive knowledge on all the material she teaches. Her expectations of the class is clear and focused on the subject matter. Doing the readings will make your class a breeze but you don't have to stress too much if you miss a couple because her lectures are very thorough. Definitely recommend the class!

She's a good lecturer but a pretty difficult marker with high standards. As for the quizzes you'll do well if you do the readings. It has been a challenge to find a gem like Prof. Petrick. A lot of Profs have lost a little of their passion, but in her class, her passion, knowledge and political consciousness has exceeded by expectations for this class. I would definitely recommend her as a Prof. Read, attend lectures & participate and you will succeed as a student.

She's really involved in her courses. She's passionate and within a week knows every student's name. She had quizzes every other week and a couple things worth participation marks. Her course is really interesting and she actually makes you not want to miss her class. First class I actually made it to EVERY week! I was impressed

I really enjoyed taking Organizing Social Movements with Dr. Kamilla Petrick. She is very passionate about activism and social movements and that made the course material very interesting. This is not a hard course, but it is not an "easy A". You need to do your readings and do the work. The material is very interesting (after the first two weeks).

Only note is that if you're really into social movements and know the history you don't really delve as deep as I would have liked into some subjects - although it's interesting enough that you won't be bored and will enjoy some great discussions still.

The course is very up to date with current affairs, the prof incorporates events/social movements from the past and the present which keeps it always interesting. It's an eye-opening course that will get you inspired to do great things outside of the class and be a good, responsible, and active citizen, thanks to Kamilla.

It has been an honour to be in one of Dr. Petrick's classes. She is very clear and to the point while making her lectures interesting and engaging. Dr. Petrick is an excellent professor overall. Her lectures are thorough with covering various topics and events on social justice and environmental issues. She is also a really helpful and open professor who provides a safe and respectful learning environment to discuss pressing and controversial matters in her classroom.

Going into this course, I was not sure what to expect. Dr. Petrick really cares about what she teaches and inspires you to care also. Participation is required, but it does not feel like a lecture you are forced to attend. Overall great professor and I would definitely recommend taking her class to others.

Dr Petrick was super relatable and made the class engaging and worthwhile. The content she delivered could be boring and she would find was to apply it to day to day life and have us feeling like engaged citizens ready to do our part. She was loved by the class and I would for sure take her class, or any of her classes, again.

One of the best professors I have had at UTM. The reason I say this is because the professor always displayed a lot of energy and tried to engage the students. She gave good feedback and was available to talk at all times.

She is passionate about social movements and well prepared to share her knowledge. Not the type to read off slides, but rather engages the class. Lectures are worth while attending, since topics are easier to understand and remember for future quizzes. Syllabus is straight forward and assignments are graded fair.

I really enjoyed the class with Dr. Petrick - her lectures were always really interesting and made an incentive to make it to a 9 am class. I loved that we could choose the assignments we prefer to do. Definitely would take a class with her again.

I told a social movements class with Professor Patrick at UTM and I adored the class. The class is very content heavy but all of it is relevant and interesting. I gained a lot of knowledge from this class!

I took a Social Activism seminar with Dr. Petrick and was not disappointed. Dr. Petrick's experience as an activist helped enrich course content and allowed for frank discussion of movement strategies. Dr. Petrick ensured that the classroom felt like a safe space to discuss sensitive material, making us all feel more comfortable to participate.

I took a social movements class with Professor Patrick at Laurier Brantford and I adored the class. The class is very content heavy but all of it is relevant and informative. Dr Petrick made it very easy to understand concepts that prior to the class, I had no knowledge about.

The class was really interesting, I actually learned a lot. Everybody participated and everyone liked it (whereas our first impression was that she was very strict. Be on time!, short break (maybe 6 minutes). Great content, really relevant to our everyday lives.

A lot of tests but the way the course is structured so the tests functions as exam review. Never felt stressed by all the tests. Readings are absolutely mandatory though. You won't pass unless you read thoughtfully. Very kind and inspirational. Speaks of her personal experiences in activism! A hip engaging professor.

Kamilla is a very engaging professor to listen to. She shows enthusiasm for lectures which makes you want to actually learn. There are weekly quizzes that are based on readings and lectures, which allows you to boost up your grades. If you need any help, shes there. Plus she replies to emails within 1 day.
