He knows his stuff but is incredibly boring. Do not take the once a week section because he WILL go the full time almost every class, and he really is that boring. 2000 word term paper and 3 tests including the final. And yeah, his jokes are lame.

HORRIBLE LECTURE!Tortured myself by sitting through first half of semester.WASTE!You will still need to study EVERYTHING in the chapters.Review same day as exams(night class).Perfect for those who can self-teach from books cause u never need to go to class.Tests not too hard but most fail.

Horrible class. You read the chapters thinking the material will be on the test, but instead it's all of graphs that he goes over, except you don't understand any of them. You ask for help, and you get a lazy response. I failed the class, but I chose to take the F cuz the class was just ridiculous.

Dr. Pirouz is very smart, however, he cannot teach for his life. His lectures are so boring. Most of the class does not come unless there is an exam. He just needs to develop some personality in order to make his class enjoyable.

Humorously dry jokes; horribly dry lecture; fair grader; easy tests (strait from text, just have to study); most students fail cause they just don't read the chapters or come to class. I ddid well just studying notes the night before exams.

He is pretty boring! But he tries to explain his subject as clear as possible! If you took some economy classes before, take him! 'cause some basis will be extra helpful to understand him. He gives only 3 exams. two of 30 points & 1 of 40 points ans a term paper.

Ok here the deal, if you have to know how to study econ, read ahead, do the study guide religiously. 3 tests, and you can run em. My test scores were 1: 28/30, 2: 27/30, Final: 40/40, the average was 60% !! And and didnt even have to bust out the secret sause, well maybe a little. He's extremely fair, so i dont know what the fuss is about.

Reading my review below, I realized I was really bias ATM. If you havent taken econ classes before, you should be careful. But I thought the class was cake, 3 tests and a paper that he didnt realy look at. Again I invested about 3hr/ day just to this class. Go on the website, if you can get a 70% on their quizes, you can get a 100 on the exam.

Easy A! His classes are beyond boring, I did not learn a single thing from him. But his tests come from the book and study guide, so if you read the chapters on your own it is really easy to do well on the 3 exams.

this class SUCKED. he didnt take attendance but you wouldnt want to be in class anyway. he's monotoned and boring. he would crack jokes every once in a while but not even smile. the tests were hard and i tried reading the book and it still was hard..DO NOT TAKE HIM!

The class is boring, but isn't that bad. He doesn't take attendance and you only have 3 tests for which you need to read the book/study guide. There is also a 10 pg paper, but as long as you follow the format and cover the topic, it is an easy A. Plus he curves the final grade.

No attendance policy, so no one ever shows up for his classes...3 exams, with questions ranging from easy to you don't stand a chance even from guessing the answer...And a 10 page paper that everyone BS'd the night before it was due...Plus his accent is so thick it's hard to understand him

Money and Banking is boring and absolutely not exciting. Dr. Pirouz is very knowledgeable and approachable. He curves and gives 110 points - 3 tests (30 pts each) & paper (20 pts). Never takes attendance. How hard can it be to get an A? Nice guy. Easy!

This was a very hard class. I was always interested in this subject but the professor made it very hard. Exams are multiple choice and all the answers are very hard to make out. Please avoid this professor if you can. I studied very hard for this class and still ended up with a C.

1st professor in my two years at MSU that I walked out of class on. Lectures are read straight off of text provided power point(I can read myself, I dont need to waste gas and time to have it read to me). I highly recommend taking another prof if possible, unless you dont mind paying for a class where you teach yourself.

Worst prof at MSU, his lectures are boring. Yes, you can leave the class, but then you miss all the details. Even when we took the Midterm we had to stay for a lecture, he normally finishes at 10:40PM for night class, and does not believe in snow. DO NOT TAKE HIM, unless you have to.

DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!! HE is a horrible teacher. Material covered is not on exam and the sentences don't even make sense since he doesn't know English well. He is hard to understand, VERY boring. You have to study and read the book on your own JUST to pass...barely! WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!

Just don't. Choose another professor, rearrange your schedule, anyone but this man. Power points are a list, lectures are dismal, non engaging AT ALL, not clear whether attendance is taken, sarcastic undertones which is extremely insulting to those of us who actually want to learn. Text book will help, somewhat. and praying to the universe.

I normally felt students criticized professors just because they got a bad grade. This professor, however, literally sets you up to fail. Extremely monotonous accent, extremely easy to never go to class, completely unengaging lectures, grade based on 3 extremely comprehensive exams. This professor needs to be evaluated by the school and dismissed.

Ok, he's not good, but he's not THAT bad. Very boring and monotonous like others said. But for an upper level econ prof. hes not that difficult. 2 tests, 1 paper. randomly takes attendance. gives extra credit to everyone (built into grade). tries to crack jokes sometimes, he knows its a boring subject. if u have no choice its really not too bad.

The classes are extremely boring. Only about half the class showed up each class, and many walked out on him during his lectures. He gives three hard tests and a paper. The only way you will do good on the tests is if you study the book for hours, because you really won't learn much in class. I would say avoid taking him if possible.

i really think its more about the kind of students at msu. some are smart but others are really not supposed to be in econ in first place. econ isnt easy and if you put it all on teacher and u dont contrubute then youll do bad. you raters are complaining about intro micro and macro, thats sad, get your acts together and do some work.

Worst professor I have ever had. All he does is read off a power point provided by the books website for text. no group activity. never learned our names. And even if you do the practice tests for the texts over and over till mastery there in no indication this will help. As a teacher myself i can honestly say he has no idea how to teach.

I've done reasonable well on the tests. Mostly thanks to going over the practice ones for the book. But when it came time to do the tests i felt alot of questions were answered that he did not go over. While he is very knowledgeable in Econ he just does not know how to teach it to students. bottom line worst teacher I've ever had

Really do not take him. Talks in a boring monotone voice. Class interaction is very minimal, plus he has an accent that is very difficult to understand. His writing on the board is unreadable. 2 midterms and a paper due on final. You have to teach yourself from the books No attendance, BUT i did enjoy his dry humor. :)

Is an ok professor, knows what he is talking about but, is extremely boring & unenthusiastic. Reads in a monotone voice from his powerpoints in every class. Gives 2 exams, a final & a research paper. The exams are multiple choice but, extremely tricky. Doesn't take attendance or gives HW so you most do well in the exams & research paper to pass.

Prof.Pirouz is one of the most knwoledgeable teachers I have evr had. He was my prof in Iran at former Pahlavi Unversity in Shiraz. He is a taugh teacher and makes you work hard.at the end u learn a lot from him.More importantly,after revolution in Iran in 1979,he left the country and did not support the religious dictatorial regime of the Ayatolah

reads from a powerpoint each class and the powerpoint is on blackboard. tests are simple straight from the book and study guide (you should buy). very hard to understand and you don't really have to go to class. if you read the book and study guide on your own you'll be fine.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had! I studied every single day for about 2 hours, I did all the readings, I went for extra help, I wrote that stupid 2000 word essay really well, and still got a C. I attended every class and did not leave like everyone, and did horribly on my tests, and on my paper for a 4/10. He is TERRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE HIM!

DO NOT TAKE HIM! Beyond boring lectures that put you to sleep. No point in going to class because whatever he attempts to teach is not on exam. 3 tests that are IMPOSSIBLE to pass and one term paper that really does not help at all. He does not give extra credit and shows no interest in helping you pass when you go to his office hours. Save yourself and do not take this professor.

Terrible professor. Definitely avoid him if you can. He monotonously reads straight off the powerpoints provided by the book and doesn't care that no one understands the information. I dreaded going to this class every Tuesday! I was there from 7-9:30 at night and it was torture! He is very monotone, has an accent and his handwriting is awful! All he does is draw charts all over the board and read from the PowerPoint. Im sure he knows what he's talking about but I would find another teacher if interested in taking this class

He's really nice and will help if you ask, but I can't promise that it will actually benefit you. He reads right off the slides and gets lost in thought a lot. He posts the slides online along with review questions for tests. I wouldn't recommend. but if you DO take his class, teach yourself using the textbook -it's the only way I passed!

He seems like a really nice guy, but probably one of the least inspirational teachers in MSU. When he writes on the board it looks like chicken scratch, you can not even tell what he writes and when he speaks it is barely audible. Most of the time he looks sad maybe because 75% of our class stopped showing up. I really just feel bad for him.

Do not take him. Almost everyone in my class was failing (including me). Reads from his notes, which have nothing to do with the tests. You can't understand his handwriting and his is painfully boring.

He doesn't take attendance. All notes are online. Gives reviews before every exam. Gives you a chance to make an extra 10 points. I failed the class because I did not study at all or showed up and he still gave me a C. Great guy.

Fear Death, taxes and Professor Pirouz. This guy is worse than Ferris Bueller's monotonic speaking teacher. He can put Grim Ripper to sleep. Angel of Death will run away from him out of boredom. However, outside classroom, he seems funny and quite sociable. He has a nice smile but a bad combover.
