Use his powerpoints and read the BOOK! He is definitely fair with letting you know what he expects.
Dr Dulai..is one of the best teachers i have had. He is very helpful and makes class very interesting. Take this teacher if you get a chance. Very nice and very helpful and his teaching style is great.
He expects a lot and will push you but he is fair. Go to class, use the power points, read the book, and ask questions. He taught me a lot.
horrible teacher. incompentent.... easy class, but unorganized and lazy professor.... not meaningful to learning!!! there is no text book...whoever wrote the first comments LIED...
Great Prof! He made sure u understood the materials. Curved the tests and took out test questions which most students missed. Very fair instructor. Cared for his students. Go to class, take good notes and u should do fine. Highly recommended
Great Prof! He made sure u understood the materials. Curved the tests and took out test questions which most students missed. Very fair instructor. Cared for his students. Go to class, take good notes and u should do fine. Highly recommended
This class was interesting but kind of hard. Tests were difficult but he is a fair grader and will take out questions if majority did bad. Print out powerpoints and go to class and you should do okay. It definately is not an easy A tho. He is a nice teacher and always seems to be cheerful, which helps early in the morning
He brought out the best from me. I am learning so much stuff that I never knew. I will be s0 sad when this class ends!!!
Very nice teacher..his class is very interesting and you learn alot of things. Highly recommended!!! Print powerpoint, understand the material and attend class...you should do good.
This professor is the very best. If every professor were like him, we would all have a decent chance to suceed, learn and enjoy what we are learning at the same time. I do not like Biology and put off taking this class until the last possible minute...If I had known Dr Dulai were teaching, I would have taken it first. Kudos to a great Prof.
This professor is GREAT!! no book was required and lectures were enlightning! I am not a fan of biology, but loved this class!!
Awesome teacher!! Loved the class and i am a psych major!! No textbook and very interesting. It is easy if you pay attention, which is easy because all the topics are extremely interesting. I loved this class. He has a sense of humor too. Would def. take him again!!
I like professor Dulai! He made biology fun and has a sense of humor! Dulai was also extremely helpful and clear on all the assignments! I'll miss his class for sure, but biology isn't really my major :)
LOVE this professor. Very fair, hilarious, and class is so interesting! Never missed a day!!! Best biology professor on campus!!!!!! He is very passionate!
He wasn't helpful at all and barely responds to emails and doesn't respond to phone calls/messages. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the iclicker usage during class gives extra credit points and is how he takes attendance. READ THE BOOK, he covers info too fast during classes so your best bet is book notes. Make sure to do perfect on hw and quizzes.
Dr. Dulai is such a great teacher! He makes class very interesting and he does have a great sense of humor. The tests are pretty challenging if you don't read the book and pay attention to the pp notes but he grades fairly. I loved the class!
he goes through content very fast not even worth trying to take notes. Exams are too detailed. no study guides. if you usually get good test grades expect to get low C's on his exams. our whole class was never happy with their grade in the class. only two people got B's on exams. hard class to take! good luck if you take him!
I took this class before with another professor and it was awful. I took it again with Dulai and I passed with an A. he is interested in the material and makes it fun. He does go through the material quickly but he puts his power points online. just make sure you show up to class and do all of the homework. great professor
Very nice and understanding professor. He wants you to succeed, and he is willing to help if you ask for it. I'm not a math/science person, so this was a bit of a challenging course for me though.
Great teacher! He expects you to know a lot! Make sure you read the book! Class moves fast but he is so passionate and funny that the class is never boring. It's definitely a challenge but if you can take him definitely do so!!
FAll 2013. The homework was online, and he would have it due the day he gave the lecture or the day after. This meant we had to read the chapter ahead of time. He was confusing and most people failed the second midterm. He doesn't go over everything that will be on the test but he is funny and gives money to get people 2 participate. Curves grades.
Funny and nice guy. Easy to approach. You need to read the book, which is really really long and dull. Also the book is confusing. He lectures, but only goes over basics, and tests you on material that is very in depth. Sometimes things will appear on the test he did not even mention. He curves your final grade, offers EC for showing up to class.
This guy is great, he's the best teacher I've had so far, and he explains things so well using very good examples. This became one of my favorite classes very quickly. I hadn't taken any classes related to science in over 3 years but i still got a good grade. I'd recommend taking him 100%.
Lec. material nver on exams! exams are taken from pearson online data base he has & must read the little details in the book of every ch. hard to pass exams lowest C- is 65 %, gives extra credit for attendence through clicker question, do the BBoard Hwk & the mastering Hwk & u can pass even if u get 50%s on all 3 exams & the final !GOOD LUCK!!!!!
exams are crazy, confusing and difficult even if you study like crazy.. nice, funny guy, but i feel as if he is not too approachable. homework is fairly easy and gives attendance points as extra credit.. good luck
The most challenging aspect of this class were the negative response papers we did. Learned what he was trying to achieve with it, but still difficult. Doable, but difficult. Enjoyed the structure of lecture, videos, discussion. Really enjoyed his humor and teaching.
Amazing Professor! Attended class most of the time and if I didn't he posted his lectures online. There was about 3 exams and a final. Homework assignments and Mastering Bio. icilcker question for some extra points. You can tell he is really passionate about Bio and about his students doing well in his class. Really recommend!
At the start seemed like a long shot on understanding all the material and passing but by the end I began to understand and put it all together. The class is designed to help students make mistakes but recover by the final exam that is tough. Learned a lot by the end. Recommend you look for him.
He did not follow the syllabus at all. His questions, on the two tests, were worded very poorly, on things that were never covered in class and I believe were recycled from previous times he taught this class. Assigned two negative opinion papers that were pointless. Gave 1 week to complete a 2500 word, 9 page, paper with a 5 reference minimum.
Not sure what the other student attended, but he did follow the syllabus all the way thru. Fantastic set of topics selected beginning with AIDS, and ending with vaccines. The two negative perspective papers open your eyes to alternative views. Learned so much about biology. Take him if you get the opportunity.
Dulia sets vey high standards for us. He thinks we can do better than just memorize. He shares exam taking tips with us and shows us how to approach the questions. I like his skits when he has students come to the front of class and act out something. I also like it when we draw on the board. Does not curve, so you need to work hard at all times.
Dr. DULAI is one of the best professors at this university. His knowledge about things is way more then any other professor. I only took this class when I saw he was going to be teaching it this semester. Ask him anything and he will make sure you understand before moving on. I am warring to see what he teaches next.
Long lectures, not afraid to keep you overtime. Tests are hard but lots of extra points & EC are available. Can be confusing & rushes through the information a lot, definitely will have to work for your grade. His grading system is good though, 85% is still an A-. Text is required, I didn't really use it much. Buy a clicker & don't forget it!
I was extremely intimidated by him, he's passionate about his field and expects you to show the same interest. But all I did was show up to every class once a week, use my iclicker to count as participation points, did all in class assignments, got a C on the midterm, and a D on the final, still managed to pass with an A. JUST SHOW UP TO CLASS!!
Great professor! Read your lab book and be ready to take quizzes the next week based on what you read and you'll pass the class!!
Really excellent professor. He has very realistic expectations for his students and is passionate about the material. Class was always interesting and he's very funny.
Great class! Very recommended professor. The exams are tough but if you read the textbook and go over the powerpoints you'll do good. Dr. Dulai is great, he is very easy going and will stay after class to clear anything that was not understood in lecture.
He is super nice, makes the labs easy and is probably the best professor at Stan for labs. I highly recommend him for those of us who are not bio majors and just want to pass. We almost always got out early too! Just read the labs for the quizzes and you'll be fine. Full credit is given just for showing up, and the rest is just your quiz scores.
I am not so good with science classes and I was sure I was going to fail the class but nope! Dr. Dulai is a great professor! Hes very passionate about the subject, funny, and super friendly! The exams are difficult but he acknowledges it, so he provides other materials/assignments which make it possible to pass the class. Highly Recommend!
He was a very poor teacher. Did not explain things well. Used Wikipedia as a credible source, and even told us to stud a Wikipedia page for the tests. Tested us on things he never taught us and without a textbook it was nearly impossible to pass the tests. It was clear he wasnt knowledgeable about the topics he taught. Dont recommend!
TONS of lecture slides with paragraph after paragraph of information. He rushes or skims through many slides. No textbook. Takes many weeks returning exams. Not very clear on what he wants from us. Final presentation stated it must be between 10-14 mins. Then later stated 8 mins in an email to a student then on day of presentation stated 11 mins
I took the biotechnology class with him. His background knowledge is fantastic! Those students who learned the material had no problems but the class was full of students who did not have the background to be there, so he had to make adjustments for them. Some of the students had expectations of being fed material. I did well and came away happy!
Great guy and interesting background. He rushes through a lot of lectures and takes the entire class time, sometimes going over. Very knowledgeable and funny, but this was more difficult of a class than I anticipated. 2 exams, very difficult and on a lot of material. He does curb grades though, so that's a plus. Cringe worthy online discussions.
I had him for my Physiology Lab class. He was nice. He never gave my class any quizzes or anything. We had about four lab reports to write. He will grade hard on the reports if they don't live up to his standards. But overall, he was very funny, nice, and he is definitely worth taking because his labs were super interesting and easy.
Dulai has a great method for lecturing. He makes it fun, adding things like memes or just some stories to help us understand the material. He;ll also draw a lot so we can see visually. Class is mostly based on canvas discussions and in class worksheets. About 10 of each. The 2 exams are killer. Luckily, he offers easy extra credit that's a bumber.
He's extremely funny and tries to make lectures fun. There was hardly any homework (just Canvas discussions) and most of the work is done in class with your assigned group. There was 1 test and the final which were very hard, but he gives out extra credit.
Does not explain things in a clear manner. No feedback for hw that is missing points. There is a lot of information that is glossed over, yet tested on in depth. Only 2 tests and they will kill you since there is no direction on how to study for them.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Lectures are so confusing. I pretty much taught myself the material. He doesn't care if his students are doing horrible and makes the tests nothing like the lectures. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS HERE !! Take it at MJC if you need it.
Dr. Dulai is an awesome Professor! He does go through some lectures pretty quickly but is always willing to go over material again if you dont understand. He is very accessible outside of class for help, too! Test heavy but homework (super easy) counts for as much as the tests, so as long as you pay attention and read, you can definitely pass!
Great professor! He was funny and caring about students. The exams are really hard.
He has paragraphs of info on each slide, where he just skims it super fast. My notebook is completely filled with notes, and it's pretty dense information which is more in depth than other regular bio classes. His extra credit does save your grade though. He never responds to emails, and there are 4 exams plus a cumulative final.
A bit difficult for a GE class. He covers a lot of info too fast but gives good lectures. Pay attention! The test are a bit difficult and I felt like some questions were too specific. Homework and reading are all online. I like his grading since you can earn an A if you at least try doing all the assignments and somewhat good in the exams.
Professor Dulai is amazing! I'm taking him again for an upper division course since I loved his class so much. He really connects science to our lives to make it easier to understand and encourages you to ask any type of question you may have. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gave a lot of free points with clicker quizzes. 10/10 recommend!
His classes is hard if you don't pay attention. He doesn't use any textbook and you can't use any notes on the exams. He tries very hard to be funny and he is funny sometimes. He's really chill and a cool professor. Overall, this class is difficult and you just have to remember everything on the top of your head.
Dulai is a funny yet okay professor. 2-3 hw assignmenst due every week but, they do not move your grade up at all so I feel like I am doing them for nothing. Tests are pretty hard and he barely gives u enough time to do it. Discussion due at the end of every unit, easy points. I usually do not like BIO classes, but this one was tolerable.
This teacher makes you work for the grade. Make sure you take his class seriously because the grading is tough. He is heavy on his discussions, lectures, and quizzes. You will need to go outside and use google for your tests and homework. He also makes you go to lecture and participate, but he is very helpful in person. Will not answer inbox at all
All deadlines for his class are given at the start of the semester. There are multiple homework assignments due each week, two discussion posts per unit, and five exams. The class in all honesty is not hard. I never paid attention during class and got an A+. He does provide extra credit and make sure to do homework because it will bring you down.
Dr. Dulai is a very knowledgeable professor. The BIO3000 course covers a wide range of bio topics, but is presented in a fashion that applies to all of our lives. There are weekly chapters to read with quizzes and assignments. As long as you are reading and attending lecture, his class was very straight forward. Extra credit was offered as well.
Normally I hate bio, but this class made me really enjoy it. The "textbook" is online through McGrawHill Connect you'll do all the assignments there. Dulai has a great personality & gives very good lectures which he records. Use a planner to keep track of the many assignments bc he doesn't accept late work. Take good notes and study hard for tests!
He is a very nice professor but the homework can be pretty confusing and he gives out 5 midterms.
Professor Dulai was such an amazing teacher to learn from. Usually, I steer clear from science, but Dulai made the class fun and interactive. The only tedious thing about the class was reading the workbook. However, his quizzes and labs were very easy. As long as you read the assigned work book and answer the homework, you will pass this class.
I hate bio, but this class was actually intersting!
Took BIO4350 Summer course. He just posts documents for you to read and doesn't even teach/lecture Asked for feedback on how to improve the class and in response told us nothing was reasonable to change and that the course was "perfect" as it was. If you had questions, he would simply ask you to search YouTube videos on the topic or Google things.
He expected way too much for a summer course. Pretty much expects you to be perfect and tests you on material that is in depth and not even covered in the modules. Biology is difficult as is and he seemed entitled and gave no remorse. Acted like the class was doing perfectly fine. Also left arrogant comments. Would not recommend even for summer.
He made the final exam easy, but his demeanor was terrible. He did not think he ever did anything wrong or incorrectly and thought his class was perfect when in reality it was unnecessarily difficult. His word over yours and was petty. Only gave us numerous documents to read from and did not actually lecture about information. Would not recommend!
Professor Dulai gives 4 exams and 1 final worth 40% of your grade total. He also gives all assignments at the start of term and while it looks unmanageable, it ends up not being too bad. The online textbook is 100 dollars and is mandatory for homework assignments as well as iclicker which is like $14.
Professor Dulai was such a amazing professor for starting my General Biology. While the topics are a bit difficult, he always provides answers to your questions during lectures and takes time to make sure the class understands by giving us examples to remember. I would highly recommend him for any Bio Major taking Gen Bio, and anyone else.
I hate science but this is my 3rd time taking Prof Dulai and he's great. U will have to do pre lecture readings and it's a good bit of info but he really goes above and beyond to make sure u understand. He's funny and his class is great
This was by far the hardest course I have taken in my academic career so far, but if you are willing to put in the work, which primarily comes from the readings and being prepared when tests come up the class is more than passable. Additionally the professor is very engaging and lectures were never boring.Hard material, good professor.
Funny professor with a great personality and accent but there's a lot of material to learn and exams can be difficult because of that. I love the professor but he doesn't explain the material very well. He does let the class decide if they want to take exams in person or online though.
Dulai is great at science. He is NOT a good professor. He can be passive aggressive in emails. He focuses too heavily on minutia of articles. I struggled for a good grade. The only thing I respect, other than Dulai's obvious love of science, is that you WILL learn in this class if you apply yourself. And you have to apply yourself.
Be expected to teach yourself on the articles and reading in the modules, honestly don't know why we have to show up for the lecture if we teach ourselves and half of the explaination/lecture you are left out of the classroom more confused then when you stepped in.strict grader for seniors, highly recommend not to take if your Junior or Senior
Online text/activity book is around 100 dollars, mandatory for assignments. iClicker was optional for bonus points. You must do some reading, but it is usually covered later on in lectures. Notes/powerpoints are usually uploaded online. Tests were okay, all online, including the final. Easy bonus assignment. Take many notes and study
Unnecessary amount of work. Have to pay for online textbook and another 100$ for Pearsons lab. Each chapter there is assignment 20-30 questions, then chapter assignment for homework which is 20-40 questions. Each chapter requires a discussion that you HAVE to wait 48hr inbetween or get half credit (claims its for the greater good?), and worksheets.
I wanted to love this class, but the whole experience was horrible. A lot of assignments. You will need to spend $100+ on access to do HW. Discussions did not make sense. Had to do it 48 hrs before it was due if not just constant 50%. Exams 100 Qs and is timed. Maybe if it wasn't a 3 week course it could have been a positive experience.
The online textbook is pretty pricey but the assignments themselves are alright. There's a lot of but manageable if you actually keep yourself productive. I've managed to finish all in one day, extremely easy stuff. There's quizzes but those are manageable as well. Lectures are good, he's a good professor who really does love to teach biology.
NEVER AGAIN! If you have questions don't bother emailing him he will not respond to you. Heavy unnecessary workload, get your money ready to pay $100 for Pearson. This online course is basically self-taught, waste of my time.
Dr. Dulai was a great professor, he is very funny, which made lecture bearable. Attendance is taken through iClicker and is worth extra points. Smartbook assignments take up a huge chunk of time at the longest one we have received was almost 3 hours long. Manage your time wisely.
The assignments and quizzes are very difficult, but I found the final quite easy. I'm not a science major and was pleasantly surprised how much I retained. Also grades on a British curve, which is nice.
Save yourself the time soldiers. The in class lectures with the heavy load of homework will do little to nothing to get you prepared for the exams. There is no study guide, you're doing everything blindly. Notes don't help, you pay extra for bonus points - which I have yet to see a grade for. The syllabus is arranged poorly. Wait for another prof!
Professor is very passionate about biology and has good explanations of the concepts. Before each class you would have to read like 5 or more articles and videos, clicker questions, and weekly quizzes. If you don't get high scores at the begining it is hard to go up. Uses a tool to check if you plagerize. Instructions were not the best.
It's a quiz every other day, god forbid you make a mistake. This professor will passively aggressively tell you to bad instead of trying to help the student.
An A is possible, but you have to work for it. Study the material before class, he grades clicker q's as he teaches. Read the book! Exams are very difficult, he likes to ask trick questions, but the final was very straightforward. He gave 2% extra credit for attendance. His lectures are easy to engage with and he's very funny.
