She is really straight forward about what will be on the test. If you do bad in her class, it's because you are really stupid and do not want to even look through notes.

Great Professor. She is very enthusiastic about dance. The tests are straight from her lectures. You end up taking atleast 1-2 pages of notes every class. Advice - Dance for extra credit it helps you out A LOT in the end. LOTS of papers, but easy to BS
This professor is as bad as they get. She has a terrible attitude and comes across as such a hard ass. She has no sense of humor and hates her job as well as life. She isnt a hard professor and her tests arent difficult, shes just not a nice individual. Shes as bitter as they come. Dont take her
If you're going to take Dance 301, take Kish. I heard she was much easier. It's supposed to be an easy class, but I had to do the most work for this class. You have to do a 10 page paper, single spaced only!! C'mon, single spaced? Like I said, take Kish. You only have to do a 1 page paper for her.

This lady is so anal and seems to be on PMS in every class. There are WAY too many papers which has to be like 9 pages, single spaced. The tests are pretty easy, but the notes for them is ridiculously long. She never cracks a smile and seems to have a bitter attitude towards life.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER.Her test are not that hard because they come from her lectures however her lectures are boring & have more to do with history of a country instead of dance. she gives way to many unnecessary notes and about only half of them have dont have to do with the test
TOO MANY NOTES!!! Expect 4 pages a day. Her tests are based on the lecture notes. 3 assignments. One is a 10 PAGE PAPER, SINGLE SPACED!!! Don't take her.
Take a different teacher if you can. There are so many notes that your hand will be cramping when the 50 min are over and 1/2 of the notes arent on the test. Papers (3) are crazy, an 8 page double spaced & 9 pages singled spaced, she's crazy. Some of the topics are interesting but not worth it.
Very unfriendly
Beware of her 10 page single-spaced research paper. She also requires you to attend 2 dance concerts. Her lenghty notes will quickly cause hand cramps. Lectures and easy tests cover too much non-dance related topics. Dance in class to get extra credit.
Her tests are so easy because she tells you ahead of time what is on them. She requires 2 single-spaced papers, one 10pg. and one 8pg. But she grades really easily on them. She should stick to dancing and not teaching b/c the only time she smiles is when she teaches the class to dance for EC.
Cross filled in for my class (KisH) for 2 wks, let's just say she left a lasting impression with her notes (most are irrelevant and lack main points), she won't answer a question if you misheard her lecturing and Kish NEVER makes you go to concerts OFF-CAMPUS. Quite the devil, CROSS is...
cross's class was an easy A. m/c tests, she tells u da Qs and As in advance. no hw. a 2 page paper but she grades super easy. class was interesting and you dont even have to attend class. i got an A with very little effort. no need for books. definately take her
The class is super easy and pretty interesting. She dances a lot for the class and lets you dance for extra credit before each test (also a good way to relieve stress.) She does require some long papers, but you actually learn a lot and if you turn it in with her criteria you will get an easy A.
This class is supposed to be a dance class but it seems to be an upper division history class. Don't even bother asking her a question because she will not answer you. Her notes and lectures are IRRELEVENT to the subject of DANCE. This professor should be a drill instructor instead of a teacher!
This professor has some serious CONTROL issues! I think that you have made a mistake if you sign up for this professor.....she will make your life a living NIGHTMARE! Single-spaced papers? 2" margins? 2 papers over 8 single-spaced pages in length? AVOID THIS PROFFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!
This professor is scary! She threatens you in her syllabus to not even DARE to turn in any paper contrary to her SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. On one page of her syllabus, she states that if your paper's formatting is not according to her reuqirements, you can only get a maximum score of 25 out of 100!
my concerns are for students to not become psychologically harmed by this teacher's bullying. i was so shocked by her agressive, in-your-face threats that it was almost funny. i've never had a teacher threaten to fail students who didn't write their papers according to her rigid rules!
Her class really isn't that bad. I found it really interesting. Yes, you have to write a 9 page single spaced paper, but as long as you follow the format (which isn't that complicated) and you check your grammar, she'll give you 100%. Just be prepared to take a lot of notes and study hard. It's an interesting class.
Had to take this course for a diversity unit and the information is very eay - the class overall is not hard at all. She is kinda wierd, but makes the class more fun. Have to write a 10 page SINGLE SPACED paper which is a ****, but other then that - no homework. I got A's on most of my tests only studying the night before - take good notes
She's not as evil as she tries to be. She's a bit rude though. I think she is pretty easy. Just get at least C's on her tests and write your essays and you'll get your A! If you have a laptop, use it to take notes. She has pages of notes that you need to copy to study for the test!
his was one of the easiest and funniest class i have ever taken. She is an awesome instructor and not scary at all. Just becase this class has a lot of videos, she doesnt like people comming late and interrupting the videos. She has fun extra credits, like dancing in groups in class, which is hilarious, no textbooks, just notes, pretty easy A.
i literally got a F or a D on every test. ALL mult choice. but i got an A in the class cus of extra credit(dancing in front of class) and all the reports that she grades so easily. those paper are long like 20 pages tho. but EASY to BS. i'd take her again fa sho dirty

WOW, a VERY mean lady. A teacher that dosent want her students to do well! She will try to trick you all she can and make the tests as hard as possible. 2 8page papers, 1 is single spaced and you cant use internet! The tests are impossible DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
Dr. Cross isn't that bad. She tries to come off mean, but she really is a nice lady. Her class is an easy A if you attend and study the night before the tests. The papers are easy as long as you meet requirements, I got 100% on all 3 papers. The extra credit dancing is fun and she is clearly knowledgeable in this subject, and very enthusiastic
She really knows her knowledge of dance thats for sure. I got a C in the class and I barely went. If you do all the papers, meet the requirements, and do fairly well on the test...then you should be fine...DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! IT WILL HELP!!!
She is alright. There are 3 papers that are due and two of them are 8 pages long. The tests are hard if you do not study. it is allot of work but it is not that bad.
Decent professor! This class reminds me of a lower division course, she reprimands you like your in high school. However, the class itself is interesting and easy. 3 papers and 4 exams (which are cake if you read the notes before each exam). Notes are everything, so dont miss class!
At first this class seems very difficult, if you do all the work and study for test u will do fine. Get started early on the 8 page SINGLE SPACE Report!!! Other than that shes a good/funny instructor i enjoyed it and dance for extra credit it will help at the end! Its too much work for a lower division class though. But i got an A!
Dr.Cross made the class very interesting and was fun to attend. At first she tried to be mean and demanding about the 3 papers, but she isn't a hard grader. I got an A, A, B on the papers and the last paper was turn in late. She is very nice and is willing to help. Easy class if you attend and study a night before the test.

The class itself is easy but it is a lot of work..7 tests-one on the dance concert that you have to go watch-a little ridiculous..tests are easy..one paper, 8 pages, double spaced..the professor is kinda nice but has an attitude towards people at times..loses assignments..must attend classes cuz there is no book plus questions bout videos
I was worried in the beginning, but found out it was really easy. We do have 7 tets, but really easy. I didnt get lower than a B on any of them. Good, easy class, but the only downfall is the 8 page paper due at the end of the semester. Other then that, a good class.
THis professor is pretty easy, her test q's are very basic and not tricky, the hardest part is the long paper. Be ready to write a lot, she doesn't write on the board or use power points - all lecture.
This class was easy. All u ned to do is to go class and take notes. All the notes is used for the quiz that she gives. There are about 6-7 quizzes. There is one paper but it is easy just start asap. Don't wait til the last minute for it because its 8pgs.

Good teacher. She goes rather fast when lecturing but you get use to it. Test are easy. All you have to do is memorize. It was shocking to me how many people kept failing her tests. They are not hard, people are just lazy. There is a whole paper due at the end, dont start too late. The material is actually interesting for the most part.

Assumed it was going to be a dancing class but was terribly wrong; it's a lecture class. Come to class often to pass. It's because theres no book and she hands out notes. Research paper is essentially about following instructions/formatting..know how to justify your paper. Best part of class was the extra credit make a fool outta yourself dancing.

This class was soooo easy! It is a great course to take as an upper division elective. You take 2 midterms and a final and there is a research paper...she doesn't read those papers though...all she wants is you to follow directions and you get 100%. I would definitely recommend this class.
she doesn't post things on blackboard and that makes it really difficult if you miss class. attendance is important, learned that the hard way. easy subject but you have to be on top of due dates and assignments. you will definitely need to communicate with the other students, it helps a lot. gives extra credit for dancing in front of the class.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD AT CSUF THUS FAR. she is the most apathetic professor ever. she does not care about her students. her tests are tricky. very hard to communicate with her and she is UNAPPROACHABLE. when i finally did approach her she was rude. she could have made the class much more engaging. take another dance 301 teacher.

Tests are based on the study guides. Research paper is graded purely on format and following directions. She treats students like they're stupid, she's rude, and irresponsible. I turned in my paper on time and b/c of HER mistake, I have to drive back to school at 7am b/c she forgot to input my grade.

The book is HER BOOK, which you "HAVE TO HAVE" it, even if you don't want to, or you want to share with other friends.She made everything like "tear out the book" to turn in, print assignments form the CD.Basicly, she made u buy HER BOOK, otherwise, u can fail.My research, I got 50/50 on my Reference List, but on paper, she -5 points for Reference?
Don't let she hates you, because if she hates you, you will be losing points without knowing a good reason for it. Same with the whole class, if she hates your class, she will be mean and rude. She sends study guide for final for the class that she likes, and NOT AT ALL for other class she hates.
Shes an Ok teacher. If you study the study guide she gives you youll do fine on the exams. She made a mistake on my grade once and I had to go out of my way to go to her 6AM office hour when it was HER mistake. dance in front of class for ex. credit. I got an A, but I studied A LOT!

She is not approachable, she rolls her eyes or gives a look that makes you feel incompetent. Her instruction on research paper was very confusing and she doesn't answer clearly. Choose someone else. For extra credit take it as soon as she gives it, you may not get the chance later in the semester.
I don't know what these people are complaining about..she is a easy straight forward teacher. 3 exams 1 essay 5 short essays and workbook questions. Extra credit ops and a fall or spring dance you have to go to. bunch of in-class movies and a nice class to network. Overall i say she is a great teacher. You learn a lot. Plus she has a hot body :P
She's ridiculous. You have to write a paper that she doesn't even read. You could write about chicken noodle soup and get an A as long as turnitit.com deems it original and you have the right margins/justification.
Warning: Do not take this class unless you are absolutely into memorizing strange names from other countries and reading every single detail about the text book. Students are require to watch and expect to memorize numerous documentary films, and attend a dance theater amount to 10% of the final exam. Hence extra time, $, and effort is required.
She is a horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HER! She has no interest in whether you pass or fail her class. If anything, it really seems like she wants you to fail. She makes you write a 7 pg paper that she doesn't even read! She probably gives out her grades based on how she feels that day. DON'T TAKE HER!
I actually put a lot into my 7 page research paper, and I got a freaking 80%. I put a lot of effort but because I did it on a topic that most of my other classmates did, I got a low grade. My friend, wrote his on the night before (on a different topic), got an B+. HE PUT NO EFFORT INTO IT. Her class was stupid, and she's not helpful AT ALL.
Her class was soo EASY! The most important thing to do though is READ READ READ her textbook. Make sure to come to class EVERYDAY or else you will suffer from missing information on the test. The final paper wasn't too bad but you need to prepare beforehand and not do it at the last minute. Got an A+ in the class.
This class was easy. The class ends up to be really interesting. There is one 7 page paper and just as long as you follow the instructions you will do well. Be sure to follow all of her directions. Sure she does roll her eyes and she is hard to talk to because it seems she has an attitude but as long as you study you will get a good grade.
Honestly one of the most frustrating profs. I've ever encountered. First off she tries to be all innocent in telling you that she does not own the copy right for a book that she wrote, and if she catches you sharing books shell report you for plagiarism. So you end up buying a new one. We all know you just want to make money Kara!

Follow her instructions carefully. Most of the homework is really busy work, but she marks down points a lot for not following the directions to a tee. Go to class, because there are videos in class she'll show that are on the final. Overall, not hard to pass, but somewhat tedious for a high grade.

must have own new book. A lot of memorization of foreign words. The paper is a joke that she does not read. make sure you double check what she means by "margins justified"- or 10% marked off on grade. Kinda mean and doesn't care to know anyone's name. She is just "checking off the box" in her teaching. Get ExCr for dancing in front of class.
She's not that hard. Buy the book. Read it. Study by her study guides. Be in class to watch the videos. Write a 10 page paper(mine was 14 & I got 100% on it). She doesn't really read your paper just make sure it's justified on both sides. She's pretty cool. Got an A and only went to class maybe 1/3 of the time.
Definately need to attend every class meeting. Pay attention to every detail of in class videos and lectures, you just dont know what she will test you on. Overload of info and hard tests. FOLLOW HER GUIDELINES FOR PAPER OR YOU WILL SUFFER. Lots of work for an elective class.
All the complaints are from the freshmen who don't pay for their education, they just want their parents to pay for a grade. She requires a lot but the work helps you study for the test (it's the only reasion she does it). Be at class for video info, you'll need it. The book takes 5 minutes to read. She'll scare you, but she's a softy at heart.

NOT an easy class! I got an A but i had to work for it. She wrote the text book and MAKES you buy it new!!! Rediculous.. But as long as you read the assigned chapters you'll be okay. The chapters are very short so it's a quick read. Just know the vocab!
She is not that hard. Honestly, did you think this class was going to be a free ride, an easy A? Watch the videos carefully, all the HW is only for your benefit, and start on the paper early. This class was so fun, a relaxing treat in the middle of my day!
Do NOT take her unless you have to. She makes you buy her book new and her exams are difficult and confusing. I did learn alot in her class but i felt like I had to memorize alot of the material in order to do well in the class. This class is not for lazy slackers. NOT an easy A or B.

I would highly discourage people from taking the class strictly because of the professor. The book required by every student was written by her therefore all the info is considered important to her. Lots of effort put into a class that didn't benefit me or my education -_- there's ALOT of memorizing and the terms are difficult to remember. Her tests are difficult & there is a paper. She is strict on the format (APA) I had to take this class twice so my overall advice is to save your time & money & invest in a different class

I first was really excited about taking Dance 301, but with Kara Cross she makes the work very difficult and extremely hard to pass the class. Kara Cross seems to be a woman who does not care about her students and is extremely rude while teaching. Even if she happened to be a little nicer, her tests and quizzes were extrememly difficult.
way too hard for a GE class. She seems to act as if her students have no other class but hers. She makes you buy her own book, which is full of inconsistencies and pretty much has phrases verbatim from the videos she writes, yet she is supposedly a stickler for plagiarism. she was not helpful, and seemed to have a sarcastic answer to everything.
The whole semester she was awesome, fun, nice, and would compliment me saying I improved. I had an A, then I saw my final grade. She was very stingy with points and dropped my grade. So watch out make sure you look like you're giving it your all and go to every class. Attendance is a huge part and she likes to take off points for no shows/effort.
I was afraid to take class with her due to all the rate my professor posts. She was one of my absolute favorite teachers. One day, she even went and bought the entire class coffee so we could study for her exam. She tells you what is going to be on the test and gives several options for extra credit. One of the best teachers I've had!

Kara Cross is super fun and active but definitely a little lazy in the grading department.. just make sure you follow the syllabus DIRECTLY, and don't bother emailing her because she just ignores it. Besides this, really fun lecture and VERY informative class. I would take from her again!
Her class is really easy but she complains every other second, is unhelpful, makes you sound like your stupid when actually her attitude is just rude. Work is done straight from her textbook, some questions from the test are not even in the book though. Follow the syllabus and she will literally stop the whole class if she sees a phone out.
She gives videos in class so you must go. I used the book a lot and you must buy because there are assignments in the back of the book that you must turn in. Don't skip class after the tests because that is when she gives extra credit. She also does extra credit if you dance in front of the class. You must know the vocab, that is all she grades on!
Whoever rated her badly are probably people who are disrespectful. All she ask is that you turn off your phone and not to eat. Simple stuff guys. Her class is extremely interesting but you have to show up and take notes. All of her work is out of the text book and her questions are straight from the book.
Cross has what seems like a nice class which you of course have to put effort into but even if you're there every single day and work your butt off plus being polite and quiet that'll only get you a C. I caught on pretty easily but I guess if you don't act right in her eyes you're not doing anything right. Do Not Take. I lost all respect for her.
Kara is hands down the worst professor I've had at CSUF. She wrote her own text book and your success in the class is contingent on BUYING a NEW copy of her textbook. On top of that, you'll actually use the textbook for 2 units. The course was unorganized and I learned maybe 5 things about dance. Otherwise it's just a horrible history class

Busy work! As long as you show up to class, do the work, take notes, do the pullouts. You will pass. Dancing for extra credit is fun, every one usually participates. This is an easy grade! We did not have a test and no body questioned it. Saved me the stress in my last semester! If you don't show up, you don't get credit for assignment she signs.
This is a very easy class. She gives so much busy work and partner work. All the work felt very repetitive. You turn in like 3 large packets from the CD in the textbook, pages from textbook, and classwork done in class. She is not very friendly. Go to class and be proactive in your work and you'll pass with an A.
If you want an A.. this is a great class to take. It satisfies a few categories and is super easy. Your grade is strictly based on showing up and doing the busy in-class work. That's it. Crappy that you're forced to buy her book brand new.. but you'll get an A if you just show up. Seriously. I got like 110% I think.
