This class is the best I have even taken! Professor Dana was very easy going and I learned in this class more than I have over 3 years at UWB. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful, and encouraged us to think and be creative! I loved every minute of the class and learned how to do research properly!

This guy's the best! I tried to take 312 twice before and hated the profs! I was a little worried when I signed up for the class with him. I made the right choice! His style is perfect! Takes the time to listen to students and adjust assignments. I learned how to think in this class. I can not recommend this professor enough!

Some of the best lectures I've ever had were in his class. Reading the textbook (there is a *substantial* amount of reading) is critical- he cold-calls on you, but never talks down or disrespects you. 3 papers, one research project, and an easy map quiz. Brilliant prof, great class, but definitely not to be taken lightly.

He is by far the best professor in the campus. He is very real, very different from most professors, he actually teaches, and the amounts of readings and writings you have to do is essential to passing, but at the end of it all, you will THANK HIM that you learned a lot. Professor Dana is by far the greatest professor you will ever take in your undergraduate education at UWB. He is very intense, but very real. Adapt to his teaching style and you will enjoy his lectures! He is NOT an easy A professor and you have to work extremely hard for it, but at the end of the quarter, you will indeed thank him.

Professor Dana is not for everyone. He is a demanding instructor who wants you to do your best in researching and articulating your understanding through your readings and findings. I graduated in 2017. I took dr. Danas Middle East class during the last quarter at UW. It opened my eyes like nothing else. I appreciate taking the class with him. He was such a class act. This class was supposed to be in person, then COVID19 hit, making spring quarter classes all online. I was nervous since Ive never had an online class before. It was wonderful and I learned a lot even during the pandemic. Every week when we received the weekly video from professor Dana, I was excited! Hes amazing and cares a lot about us students

In the beginning, I didn't really like Dr. Dana that much. That changed around 2-3 days into the class, when I could tell he genuinely cared so much, way more than any prof I've had. Extremely knowledgeable, fair grader, very, VERY good feedback on written assignments. Also responds to email really quickly.

Im taking the race and ethnicity senior seminar with Dr. Dana now. The quarter is about to end. Ive learned in this class more than 3-4 yrs. Defiantly knows his stuff. Engaging and makes learning fun. Assignments are complex and require thinking. Readings are brilliant & plenty (80-100 pg. a week). Ive learned how to write well in this class.

Overall an incredible class. Professor Dana is one of the best lecturers I've ever encountered. There's a lot of reading and papers to write, but they're worth it if you're interested in learning about the Middle East. He is strict about following his syllabus, but I found his grading very fair. You'll enjoy the class if you put in the effort.

The first time I was in Professor Dana's class, I knew that he was the inspiration I needed to pursue my education and goals in life. He's the reason I went to graduate school. I have learned so much from him. I owe him a lot! He had high standards and I definitely needed them to succeed not only in school.

Take it if you're interested in the topic. - Professor Dana is an incredible lecturer - Attendance isn't graded but highly recommended - His syllabus/expectations are straightforward - Your entire grade is based on 5 three-page papers - The papers are basically graded on completion - Lots of reading (usually 100+ pg/week)

Signed up for this class before October 7, but was so glad I did. Prof Dana gives excellent lectures and I learned a lot about the Middle East. He got annoyed when people did not show up to class. There was quite a bit of writing, but he was an easy grader if you were thoughtful and did the work.

This class was fun but had lots of papers, some were really interesting topics but overall tons of reading. I think the prof was really nice tho.

he was really good at his job & knew his material well. his lectures are sooo interesting & makes it feel like a story. he gets upset when people don't show up to class but thats fair. his gradings pretty clear - so follow that & you'll do great.
