online class- some pointless assignments, adequate lectures
nice porfessor. easy assignments. won't hurt your eyes to look at her in lectures.
Excellent professor! I've been studying geog for 5 years in my high school and never ever enjoyed a bit of it. But professor Lenkeit makes everything so fun! Although there are some pointness assignments sometime, they help boost your grade actually.
Online Class. Professor is very good! Fast results from tests, labs, and questions. The tests are difficult, you do need to study hard to get a good grade.
You will likely learn more reading and self-study than you will in class.
She should be teaching 1st grade! Though the subject was very interesting. Her tests are mostly essays so you have to know the subject thoroughly, be ready for lots of reading.
I really enjoyed this class. the material was presented clearly and the tests were exactly what was on the review. minimal lame hw assignments but they help your grade so put in the effort. She's a nice lady and is very easy to talk to. I'd recommend her
i loved this class.. its soo informative and the tests arent even hard.. i totally recommend this teacher as an easy A
Taking her online class, I totally agree with the comments. She is very much on your side with the grading, just do the reading. Very intelligent and good approach to an otherwise boring subject. Love that smile!
Got hundred percent since the very first day of class. Fell to D after midterm... Not for people who study ON THEIR OWN to take... She never help you but tell you to BET! I suggest she retire soon. Left by KIN.
Online course. Super easy if you study. Exams are all open book and if you ask she'll help you with the answers.
Great Professor. I retained most of the info.
Took online. Lots of work required on Labs. Tests really required you to know your subject! Very fair grader. ALWAYS accessable for help. Very nice lady. Lectures thorough but not wordy. Enjoyed the class very much.
Didn't like her at all. She is one of those who know only what they have to know. Acts like she knows everything but when asked something out of context, starts blushing and gives silly excuses such as 'oh I am not too good with...'Very unfair grading!
Terrible!!! She cannot even spell in spite of her exquisite education that she always mentions! I was praying to God for the class to be over. Did not learn anything!
Intro to GIS is a lecture and computer lab course (labs are done on your own) Lectures were good but the labs very unclear. Most of the time you're left guessing what she means by her instructions which is not helped when you ask her for clarification. Really patronizing manner.
Labs very unclear She uses the world atlas on her exams and you barely have any time to look up anything which costs you points She also does not give clear instructions for exams so be very careful. A LOT of work and the answers are not always in the book. Tricky.
Took this Prof's Physical Geography class in 2002 - I learned a lot and the tests were all very straightforward. If you do the reading and the labs, and pay attention, you will do just fine. Not an "easy" class but worth the effort. Professor was helpful during office hours. I would recommend.
Labs, tests, quizzes, midterm and final are all spaced even enough not to overwhelm. Requires that you really know subject from reading. If you ask a detailed question (put in some effort) she will help. Fair grading, you even get to drop your lowest lab score! Cool teacher for online.
ATTENTION STUDENTS: Do not post comments on this listing. The instructor's full last name is "Lenkeit Meezan." In an effort to keep ratings together, please use the instructor listing for "Lenkeit Meezan." Thank you. -Admin
Avoid. Class is too hard. Tests use statements not found in the book or if they are, prof uses trick questions. Requires labs with tough essay questions to answer. Hard grader on the essays. Hard to learn in a state of constant stress. The only fun part are the discussions and they are easier.
This professor is amazing. I called her the night b4 I missed class b/c I was seriously sick, and she made me promise I wouldn't worry about my classwork until after I was better. She really cares about EVERYONE and will help if you ask. I now love geography and am considering switching my major.
Online - Geog 1 and Geog 2 Don't listen to the negative statements here. This is the best design I have seen yet in an online class (1 and 2 are similar in design). VERY clear in what is expected, good lectures. I managed to get get As in both courses, it just takes some extra effort! College isn't easy people!
This class is hard, but she will really go out of her way to help you. She makes the subject very interesting, tho I nevery thought it could be. FUN!
Poor teaching. Test answers are NOT in the book, her instructions were awful and made no sense. I can't believe she won any award for this class, it was awful, awful, awful. Be forwarned.
Nothing special, got me through the class though
I worked hard and received an A. She doesn't expect anything perfect, just work and you'll be rewarded
this was an awesome class. It takes effort to do the labs and quizzes- Read!! This class is not difficult. Just do the assignments and take notes in class and you'll do fine! She's a great teacher. One of my favorites!
Pay attention in class and read the text once and you should be able to get an A. The lecture notes are VERY important and are the base for the exams. It is essay exams, so it is easy to prepare if you take notes and follow her letucre in class. The quizzes can be tricky, but then, it is only 10 points per quiz. She like when students ask questions
She makes me fall in love with Geography! She is knowledgable, nice and helpful. Take notes and finish the labs and quizzes, you will be fine. she even gives students study guides to prepare for the exams! lectures are super interesting. I am a business major and I really want to minor in geography after I took her class!!!
super easy! weekly online, open book quizes. do all the disscussions and labs. 2 in class tests. easy A
This class was soooo easy. There are weekly online, open book quizes, taken right from the book. You have to do 5/6 of the labs, most of them are super easy. THere are 4 disscussions to do online, but if you just comment 3 times you get full credit. There are also 2 inclass tests, but if you do everything else, you don't need to do very well.
Great teacher! Knows her stuff and explains it in an easy-to-understand, yet interesting way. What makes the class hard is that it's time consuming. The quizes and assignments are all easy but time consuming to do/prepare for, if you do all the reading. You can skim by preparing directly for these questions instead of doing all the reading.
this class was easy but I have 1 problem with it. I took it online and every assignment was due at 11:30PM. except the midterm, due at 11.30AM. I wrote it down wrong and missed it. I contacted the prof and even though i got As and Bs in everything and was willing to get docked points she refused to let me make up anything. I got a C rather than an
Online Geography class was relatively easy. Some assignments take time, but read the lecture materials and the textbook readings and you'll be fine. Teacher is very enthusiastic about her subject and very helpful. This class was actually more interesting than I expected it to be and I learned a few things.
Very hard class but very informative! Always willing to help if you didn't understand and writes emails back FAST! Online class
Very hard class but very informative! Always willing to help if you didn't understand and writes emails back FAST! Online class
I really enjoyed her class. It can be diffucult, but she is always willing to help, and will put things in a way that are easy to understand. The labs are easy yet they take time. There are weekly quizzes as well. The midterm and final I found hard, but that's just me. She is overall a great teacher!!!
A really fun class. Mrs. Meezan is one of the best teachers I've had. She made what could have been a dull subject really interesting. Made me want to get up to go to the 8AM class!
Dr. Meezan presented a fun physical geography online class. Lots of interesting, every day information and well presented. She makes a lot of room for mistakes for beginning geography students. Her class is really interesting, and she is very helpful and funloving.
I am certain she is one of the best tescher I have ever met. She is well-organized and clear. And since she required a lot of assignment, such as weekly quiz, lab and discussion, I had to study hard. However, if you really want to learn Geography, take her class. In addition, I think the lecture class is better than the on-line class.
You need to put time into studying for this class. She tells you what you need to know but you need to know it well. Labs can definitely take some time. Not what I would consider an easy A, but an A is very obtainable
Great, dedicated teaching, extremely interested and motivating teacher, very interesting class, large workload therefore time consuming, but very well explained. Highly recommended class and teacher!
I took her introduction to physical geography class online. I do think i would have failed if i didnt find a certain web site that was out there. her mid term and final was really hard. I think this is the kinda class you need to take in person.
Alot of work but an easy A. Nice and approachable, but doesn't want to answer questions directly, because she wants you to look them up for yourself. Some extra credit to boost your grade and give you a better cushion going into the midterm and final. Straightforward class. Not much geography though.
I took this class online. The materials were well organized and the pacing of the assignments kept the class moving along without being overwhelming. I enjoyed this class and also have developed more interest in the subject matter. Highly recommend this teacher.
online class. Super helpful, esp when I emailed her. Replied fast and made sure I got it. Lots of work, but it was a lab class. MUCH better than Chem or Bio for a GE!
Take this class in person, she is great! Very interesting lectures. Took for a GE w/o much interest but came out really liking the stuff. Easy if you ask questions. Go to office hours, she gives you the answers.
JUST DONT.
Not a class for slackers! Labs due every week but pretty easy if you read directions. VERY helpful if you go 2 office hrs. Interesting lectures about the real world that apply 2 ur life.
GIS class. She is a good lecturer and nice person but not very knowledgeable of GIS. Her labs contain mistakes and sometimes breeze over confusing steps. Alan Rich's labs are much clearer.
I loved this class, I took it online. It was so interesting and the teacher is amazing. So helpful and really wants her students to be engage and comprehend the material. I recommend her to anyone. Class is not hard if you read the book and the lectures
Fun class. Lots of examples @ the real world. I actually learned something that I will use in life! She is really nice too. I got a B b/c I didn't turn in labs on time. Be careful because she will grade you down for late work!
Where do I begin. She's just not a good teacher. She is very degrading, and in her comments she will write things like, "This is 3rd grade math". She is very confusing, and doesn't make much sense ever. The textbook is expected to be read in its entirety and if you don't, you won't pass. Terrible teacher, I recommend finding a different one.
I took this class instead of Physics or Chem, but ended up really liking it. You have to go to class and take notes. Read the book (duh!). Very enthusiastic and nice. Explains things really well, especially if you ask questions. The only math is on labs (not tests). You convert inches to miles and she gives you the formula. Not hard at all.

I took GIS from her last year. She nows a lot! Very helpful and nice. I also paid alot for ESRI training classes, but didn't learn much. I learned much more in Mrs. Meezan's class that I used in my job. Good teacher.
Professor Lenkeit-Meezan is pretty inspirational. You can tell she loves teaching geog. Her white board notes are supplemented with drawings to explain processes. Participate in class! She loves when she sees students grasping concepts. We used the text a lot more than the map text. Work hard, participate, do your labs, and she will reward you!
I liked this professor. She's very knowledgeable about Geography. Some of her instructions in labs and projects are a bit unclear. She gave plenty of time for all of her assignments (4 labs, weekly quiz, a ton of reading, and a weather and climate project). I will probably walk away with a B in the class, only because I put in minimal effort.
Best online class I have ever taken! I am getting my degree online (slowly) and have taken lots of online classes and Professor Meezan's was the most clear, interesting and engaging. She gives lots of feedback and fast. She is very passionate about geography which is pretty cool since it makes me like it too.
Even though I like geography in general, which is the reason I took this class, she made me hate this class. The information was fun to learn but she's a really hard grader and her reasons to take out points don't make sense. Too many quizzes and really hard exams that requires essays. You can pass the class by participating but I'd not recommend.
I took this class for general ed credit. I needed a science wlab that was online, and this was it. I did learn quite a bit, but there are a ton of assignments. Professor Meezan was pretty good, except there weren't really any discussion posts with her involved, so I didn't get to know her very well.
This is one of the worst classes I've taken in college, this being my second year. The teacher style is very dry and dence- lacking any inspiration for the success of the students. Materials covered in this class similarly reflects this. Highly recommend NOT taking it.
She is one of the nicest and most interesting teachers I've had. Best online class I've taken with lots of videos and cool online websites. Gets back to you fast when you have questions and basically gives you the answers.
She's a great professor, but the class was HEAVY! 4 big labs 10 quizzed, participation quizzes everyday(this is where the extra credit comes from), reading assigned for each session, 4 online discussions, an individual project, and a group project a midterm and a final. I got an A in the class, so the work was heavy but manageable.
Best way to take a lab science. She is nice and very helpful. She drops your lowest lab and quiz. The final is long and has hard questions but it is open book. She shows you what she gives grading points for when the labs are handed out. Make sure to show your work or you get no credit!
Worst teacher I have taken at Foothill. This teacher grades so hard and isn't fair what so ever. She will make you work so hard for basic assignments. You will have a quiz every week, 4 labs and hard group projects. I would not recommend taking her.
how does one not like Allison?! shes great in the lectures. shes very excited about GIS. answers every question without a snarky tone. yes, shes a busy woman but she makes time for her students if they ask. grading is fair, at time generous. great teacher.
Lectures aren't clear which makes everything else you do that much more difficult i.e quizzes, tests, and labs. The professor does not explain things clearly enough when you actually have an issue.
Professor Meezan is outstanding. She is very passionate about what she is teaching and is more than willing to answer any questions. There are daily quizzes which count as extra credit and are open notebook so make sure to take good notes. In total there are 4 labs and 2 project. I would definitely take her class again.
Allison is an amazing professor and loves geography. She expects you to put in the work and offers a ton of support if you do.
This teacher is VERY hard, but she's very clear about her expectations. I've never taken such a hard class, but if you do what you're told, you will be ok. It's hard at first, but like most classes, if you can figure out how she grades, you can do well. All of her information is really interesting and she's really passionate about what she teaches
Put in CONSTANT work for this class and did not receive the grade I deserve. The amount of work she assigns is ridiculous and takes off points for formatting errors even when you understood ALL content and spent 3 hours working on her unnecessarily long labs. She always thinks she's right but constantly contradicts herself. Seriously horrible.
Easy enough teacher, but expects work to be put in. A lot of discussion posts, required book club, 3 labs and 1 big project. Docked me 40 pts off the proj when the file I submitted was incomplete on her comp, but complete on mine. Sent picture proof that I finished work on time and it was a comp error but she still docked me late points.
Best online class I've ever taken. Clear expectations. Clear lectures. And she responds really fast and is NICE! Yes it is a lot of work, but not compared to chemistry.
Follow her rubrics and you will do fine. You need to know how to develop English essays and answer questions in clear and concise English sentences. There is a lot of material to learn so you must listen to her online videos and read here lectures and take the weekly quiz so you will know what she wants you to learn. Her class is interesting.
The lecture may seems hard and heavy, but the midterm, final and participation quizzes are extremely easy. The lowest-scored quiz and lab will be dropped. Love her class, easy to get an A!
This class is so frustrating, the teacher is on canvas 24/7 and thinks that this is a 15 units class. she gives tons of assignments and thinks you are a professor of geography but you actually don't know anything. I truly do not recommend this teacher!!!!
The lectures can be long and seem daunting, but the midterms and quizzes are pretty easy. My friend took this online and it seems she grades more harshly there than the in person class. The labs take FOREVER and that was annoying but overall if you put in the normal work expected at the college level, you should easily get an B if not an A.
She grades really hard. Expected to come to class everyday even though it is mostly an online class. Get ready to get work thrown at you as well. I studied for the final so hard (studied off of all notes she gave) but still got a bad grade. I have never gotten a grade this bad in her class.
She expects you to be a very good writer but does not look at the fact that the student actually put so much effort and answered all specific questions answered. Unfair grading. I would never take her class again. Dropping my whole GPA.
Such a great professor, I use to hate science but now I can say its tolerable. Her lectures are really easy to follow and her quizzes and tests are easy. Labs are time consuming but she takes time to let you know what you need to fix in order to succeed on your next lab.
Best Professor I have ever met! A lot of extra credit. Lecture is super organized and clear. Study guides, quizzes, and class notes are really helpful.
This class was awesome! The lectures were engaging and Allison is very patient and kind. You'll have 10 question quizzes every week based on the reading (you can take them each twice), and 4 labs (lowest score is dropped) plus a project at the end of the quarter. Her rubrics make her expectations very clear. Definitely recommend taking this class!
She is a great professor and Cars about her students one thing that sets her apart is the Conferences she has every Friday. She hops on a webcam and takes an hour to lecture about topics that are clear that she is passionate about ( these can be replayed) Two things to be wary of is her no late work policy, and her 11:30 AM deadline on everything.
Professor Meezan is amazing! I was super not interested in the topic before taking her class. She taught me and made me love Geography. She knows a lot about the field and she is always very eager to teach us about the subject. She relates class content with the real world. I totally recommend her with you really want to fall in love with Geo.
This fully online course fulfilled my lab requirement and Professor Meezan was an awesome instructor. She is very passionate about the subject and makes the course fun. She provides great lectures and thorough reviews to ensure you do well in the course. Tons of opportunities for extra credit.
She is a great teacher and she has a great personality. However, I must say, it was one of the most time-consuming classes I have taken online. There are lots of readings, labs, quizzes, exams. It is a great class, but be ready to work and put a lot of effort into it. If you do that, it is easy to get an A, but you really need to work for it
She is an amazing professor who give great advice and you learn a lot from her. She cares about all of her students and wants them to do well. Outstanding professor, her lectures are amazing. She goes and beyond and she puts her time into the lectures which makes you understand the subject so well. I am glad I took her class, please take her class.
I'm terrible at math and science and was terrified to take this course. However, Professor Meezan is AMAZING! Yes, she expects a lot and gives a lot of work, but it's actually useful and not just busywork. She also is beyond available to help students and you can tell how passionate she is about the subject, teaching, and her students!
Meezan made this course enjoyable and interesting. I never thought I'd like a Geography class, but she really went out of her way to make the course engaging. She seems to really care that her students understand the material and feel inspired. The structure suggests her first priority is that students learn. I hope to be in her class again
I literally created this account just to rate Professor Meezan. She is the nicest, most understanding teacher. Not only do I find the way in which she teaches the class to be super helpful in gaining the building blocks needed to progress within GIS - she is so positive, supportive, and aware of the difficulties of being a student in these times.
There was a moderate- heavy amount of work in her class. However, considering that I received credit for the lab requirement, which makes up for the in-person lab. The heavy amount of work was worth it, just know that you will need to set in a lot of time for this class. The professor is really nice and helpful if you need help attend office hours!
Professor Meezan is one of my favorite professors! This course was proficiency based which made understanding the material the top priority. Her online lectures are very interesting and she is very easy to reach if you have any questions.
She does not use a standard grade system. Instead, you will try to finish all the quizzes, responses, and lab projects to meet the "Proficiency." The rules and items of "Proficiency" were kinda complicated if it was your first time knowing this. But overall, it is a good class and she is a passionate professor.
She is a fantastic professor! But her grading system is different from the norm. She goes based on "Proficiency," meaning you either pass or fail the assignment. She lets you resubmit assignments if you do not earn proficiency, but it is very time-consuming. But she does care for her students.
Great professor and clear in expectations. There is a lot of work for Physical Geography and you cannot put it off.
Grades based on "proficiency" you must get every question on every assignment correct to continue and receive a passing grade on that assignment and in the class. A lot of group work with worksheets. She answers your questions with questions. Complete the online lecture before the in-person lecture. No tests or finals; there is a final project.
Not a lot of leeway, would not recommend overall
Took physical geog for general requriement. Fully online. Not a ton of work and you can use your book. Tests and quizes were pretty easy. Just do the work and you will pass. Most answers can be found online. The labs do require some time but start them early and you're fine. Hardest part was the final project (which isn't that hard).
Pass/fail grading system made it easy for an A. She's not looking for rocket scientists, just a general understanding of content. Very enthusiastic about the topic which made it very interesting. Labs took some time to complete and she was very accessible outside of class for feedback. Can resubmit assignments if you rec'd low score. Great teacher!
There are tons of HW and papers in this class. You really need to spend time in order to get an A. She was very responsive in replying. Also offered online sessions for doing the projects.
This class was very reading oriented, but what I most enjoyed from her class were the labs she assigned because they reflected what we learned throughout the course. The grading was a bit confusing to figure out since she grades off of proficiency. There were times where I needed extra support for certain topics and she was always there to help!
Top 5 teachers for me! Amazing class, fun lectures, easy reading and a VERY engaging professor. The labs are fun and make you think while not being too difficult. You'll need a few hours a week but more than worth it. The professor was engaging and responded even on weekends! Would do again! "Have a great weekend and Happy Trails"
Very clear directions on her assignments and helpful, timely feedback.
This professor has to be by far thee worst professor I've ever had. The 'proficiency' grading is nice in a way but I've worked so hard with her on my labs and still didn't get an official grade. The workload is heavy with labs every week on top of that. Luckily, there's no Final exam for this class though.
Easily my favorite teacher at Foothill. I've taken many of her GIS classes, and she explains concepts in an easily readable format. Some may complain about "proficiency grading" but personally this has been a lifesaver. Most if not all of the material in the lectures/reading relates to the tests/lab/quizzes. We need more professors like Meezan!!!
Although she treats DRC students with kindness and courtesy, she grades using professional grading, which demands that you get every answer right to obtain an A or you'll receive an incomplete on the assignments. But I personally wouldn't take her again because of how much work she assigns each week and how it would be difficult to handle.
Professor Meezan is a very caring professor because she was always willing to help when students needed it.
She is the kindest that Ive had at Foothill She expects a lot compared to other foothill classes The instructions can be hard to follow at points but I never had an email go more than 12 hours without a response and she has zoom office hours M-F I would schedule close to 8 credits worth of your time for this course but worth it if you want to learn
Allison was a fantastic professor. She took the GIST material and really lectured on it well, taught well, and was very receptive in office hours to students needing help. I thought that she never spoke condescendingly and she never just told people to go to the textbook or other online resources -- she really took the time to help
Great professor. Very interesting class. A typical week for this class consists of the lecture, textbook reading and quiz, weekly check-in zoom, and a lab. Grading is based on gaining full proficiency instead of letter grades. She will suggest you re-do assignments until you gain full proficiency on them. A heavier workload but you learn a lot.
NO exams, and LOTS of opportunities to revise your work. Hybrid class (graded participation) - interesting short lectures, and very fun group work. A lot of reading is required (txtbook+book), and a lot of busy work. But very easy to get a good grade, especially for those who hate exams. The professor was very helpful and reachable at all times!
One of the best teachers i had
I'm taking her class right now and I might say she is the best professor I had in Foothill she cares so much about her students and want us to succeed no test/quiz just lab and 2 final projects that you can revise until you earn a check mark (except final projects revise only once) might need to put 3 hours of time into this class but Great class!
I found her class to be easy the labs are straightforward and she allows you to revise the labs until you earn a full proficiency there are 4 book club discussions and 2 final projects make sure you stop by her drop in hours or garden to get extra help but you have to work to get an A (No test) she is a very nice caring person 100% take her!!
Professor Meezan's class has a lot of group work and revision opportunities, but still requires extensive reading. unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, an engaging hybrid class with a caring professor.
Her online course is well structured, with very helpful tutorial videos and you know well in advance what is due and when. She's also quite responsive with questions (and I asked *a lot* of them during the quarter). The workload is fairly heavy but quite manageable, and she gives you several days to turn in your assignments. Thank you! -Brent J
She is the best teacher I ever taken in foothill and she is a very nice person who care about her students outside of class and she allows revisions with labs until full proficiency and final projects once until the end of the quarter so make sure to go to her office hours for feedback. 100% recommend her she is amazing
She is super passionate about Geography, but there is alot of labs + reading, but you can revise your labs as many times as needed to pass. 5 mandatory zoom lectures throughout the term
One of the best professors i have had in foothill college, I enjoyed the lectures the activities and the projects.
One of the best professors i have ever taken.
