SHE IS A COMPLETE SWEETHEART! Loved her class. She's very passionate about what she teaches and you understand although she has a spanish accent. She will work with you and help you in anyway possible. Easy class, just study! Biology is not complicated with her, just make sure you understand the first chapters and the rest will come easy <3 Thanks
Good professor overall. She uses P.P. and sends them to students after each class so that one can study from them. Very easy class in my opinion. There is a quiz every class, but she gives plenty of opportunities to get extra credit points. She's kind and friendly. No too much effort is needed in order to get an A in this class.
This professor is really good. She hardly assigns work. just one paper just two pages long. any other work she assigns is an extra credit. The extra credit has helped me sooo much!! it boosted me to my A. 6 exams and you get to drop the lowest grade. Shes great and funny
She is AMAZINGLY I will recommend her any time. This is my first time grading a professor and I think is because she is a very good professor.
She teaches off of power points, and she goes really fast. You will barely be able to take decent notes, but you will be able to pass with an A if you sit there and read the text book. Especially the "take-home messages". There are 4 exams, a paper, and a final, and the final replaces your lowest test grade, so it's not mandatory. No make-up tests
Professor Alvarez lectures the whole class based on powerpoints. There are tests for every 3 chapters or so (I had 6 in total). She is willing to answer any questions you may have. For me, her accent got in the way of my learning, so I learned on my own by the book. Regardless, she is respectful, knowledgeable, and nice.
She gives her lectures by powerpoint and sends them through MDC Blackboard. Study hard because her tests are challenging; also take notes in class, you'll need them. She does give extra credit at times. She is a sweet professor and will always give help when you ask for it, and clarification. There are four tests and one project.
Professor Delfin is a sweet heart! I had her my first year of college and she still remains as one of my favorite teachers ! You need to buy your lab manual and she gives quizzes every class, but there usually multiple choice and based on the powerpoints! Make sure you understand the labs, the 2 test are based on your labs !
STAY AWAY FROM HER!!! if you want to pass biology with a good grade . She gives really hard test and she does not give you any study guide. You have to study everything and she asks a lot of applied questions and details in her test . I don't recommend her for any class . She also gets along with the guys only .
I took this as my second time taking Bio and she was amazing. She's super caring about her students and if she sees you're in danger of failing or missing classes she will talk to you and help you. She gives study guides for her tests which are easy if you study. C'mon, you're in college, studying is involved. She gives extra credit and lectures.
I was able to pass without buying the book so I wouldn't say it's mandatory. The grades are mostly based off exams, biobeyond and very little from service learning which I never did. The tests are hard but she gives study guides &I've managed to get A'S on 3 exams & a B on another just by studying off the guide. She's funny and a great professor.
It is not an easy class, you have to study and if you do not know how to study you will learn in this class. She is very fair, although she teaches off of powerpoint she will answer and discuss any question you have. She is very caring and wants you to pass her class as long as you work hard for it. I will take her again.
This class wasn't so hard at all but you can not slack. she gives 1 research paper also she gives extra credit I finished this class with a B. I recommend to study the study guides use the book it really helps and her powerpoints that the only way to get an A on the exams. sciences is not my major but do study the tools she gives to you and you will pass.
Her class is not easy, you have to eat the book, by the way she says it on the first day of classes. She goes really fast on the Ppt because she expects you to read before class so you have an idea of what is coming. She is easy grading and always wants to help. She gives outlines before the exams with the topics to read.
Amazing professor! Go to class and study hard and you will get a good grade!
I took this class for Summer B of 2017 and I can honestly say that I've never understood Bio this well before. She is extremely intelligent and will clarify and explain if you ask her to. Her lectures are interesting and she tries her best to make the class fun. She gives study guides and reviews for exams. I would definitely take this class again.
I hate biology, but with this professor you understand the content. She is awesome, if you have doubts, she is there for you. She gives an outline for every test. She doesn't count your worst test, and we practiced with kahoot on the review day. Take her, you won't regret it.
She is a very nice person but her lectures are a bit confusing at times and her tests are very detailed. This was a teach yourself semester for me. Her lab was easier than lecture but she tends to be extremely picky. She is overall good so do not take her if you want an easy A.
This professor opens your eyes to many things, shes a great teacher and I truly recommend her. Her lectures are super important and cover a lot of what will be shown on the test. Gives extra credit opportunities and test reviews are great!
Extraordinary professor well prepared in her career who knows how to introduce new topics and encourage learning through helpful material and aids such as the new science program BioBeyond. I recommend all of you don't miss any assignment or class and cooperate with her to have the best experience possible.
I'm currently taking this professor and I've got to say that it was a smart idea to take her. She is very clear on what she is talking about.
I can honestly say i have never passed biology or chemistry in the past but taking this professor made me ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND. Test are exactly from the powerpoint i loved her. TAKE HER!
Lectures have a lot of info. Make sure you go over the power points to study for your tests (they count the most towards your final grade). There is no final, test are the usual level of difficulty. She loves biology. Service learning is required.
Really easy. It's a lot of online homework but she gives you a ton of chances to make up anything you missed. The tests are easy and everything you need to know is in the powerpoints. She's super nice and funny.
She is great! 4 tests throughout and no final, will drop the lowest grade. Never have homework only BioBeyond which is an online component. I actually learned a lot in her class she is awesome!
She's a really good professor. I really really recommend you study and memorize the powerpoints she puts on blackboard. All the answers on the exam will come from the powerpoints. She gives a lot of extra credit and do the biobeyond because she will give you 35 points that can help you as extra credit if you dont do too good in the exams.
Prof Alvarez is by far one of my favorite professors at MDC, she can scare you at first with the load of work and content but literally there was not one thing that she talked about in class that was new for me and Bio is not my major she explains everything really good and you will have so many extra credit activities that is hard not to get an A.
I took Biology online, and I thank God I had the honor of having her as my lab professor. She basically thought me biology. What I did not learn online I leaned in her class. She pushed me to my limits of doing a research lab and to present it and I absolutely loved it. She is hard but so loving, respected, and extremely smart. Take her now....
Very grateful I had the chance to take her for summer. She's super cool and wants you to pass. She makes bio interesting. 3 exams and she drops your lowest, has an outline for each, reviews before each. Biobeyond is a must but the textbook isn't all that necessary (only if bio isn't your strongest suit).
A GODDESS. I was struggling with the exams and she personally came to me to talk about my grade and what I can do to make sure I get a passing grade. She saw that I tried and she boosted my grade into a C so that I can atleast pass the class!! I am the absoljte worst at biology but if you REALLY a study then youll be fine
If you dont have a strong background in biology from highschool, like ATLEAST took AP bio in junior or senior year then you're going to be lost, unless you bury yourself in the book. She literally reads the pps and then won't post the same pp on time for us to study, gotta constantly email her to remind her.
I dont know how she has great reviews. She is horrible, only reads of the powerpoints and the test are super hard. Unless you are really good with science, dont take class!! She excepts you to know all about biology just by her reading off the slides. You will fail
Do not take this professor, all she does is read power points and that's about it. All the test are super hard, most of the grade worth is the test which are incredibly hard to pass. good luck you've been warned.
I like her. This is not an easy class, prof. Delfin uses mostly powerpoint for lectures and biobeyond for the online part. As long as you go to class, do your biobeyond (she give you thousand of chances to complete that) and do the community hours, you pass the class no problem. In a blended class you are supposed to do your part too.
Yeah leave this page right now and pick someone else
Dont take this professor. She doesnt care about you and she definitely does not care if you understand the material or now. You ask her a question she looks at you as if your crazy for even asking a question. Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible. I regret taking her.
Shes really not that bad of a professor you just really have to teach yourself because she teaches off powerpoints and goes super fast through lectures. 4 test and optional final, all hw and quizzes are done online
She is an awesome professor. She goes really fast over the power points, so you better pay attention and participate. She uses byobeyond as the online part of the class and is super interesting. Test are good as long as you study. And do the extra credit project helps a lot. Is a regular class you know. You will have to work for your A.
This class was amazing! She gives you 3 tests and then takes out the lowest graded test, so only 2 count. You have to do 6 hours of service learning for her class but you have the option to do more for extra credit. Biobeyond is easy and if you do well, it can boost your final grade. Just pay attention to her powerpoint lectures and it'll be fine!
If youre not good at teaching yourself and studying I wouldnt recommend this class. Makes the material harder than what is really is. 4 test optional final and some extra credit . Goes really fast through the power points so dont expect to write down any notes.
Goes super fast during lectures, dont have time to write notes. Expects you to know every single detail. Do yourself a favor and pick someone else
worst biology teacher ever, she can't teach at all and I do not know why she has a job in teaching Biology. I do not recommend this professor at all she is not good
GREAT! That's all I can tell about Dr. Alvarez-Delfin. She is great and all you have to do is your part. Study and get your stuff together and you will do find. I am glad I took this class with her!
Class was a bit easy, mostly assignments. Some extra credit service hours if you want to do them. Tests are all in person. If you want a good grade all you have to do is your part. She was a good teacher, she knows her stuff, she gets mad if no one answers her questions in class. You don't really need the book she has powerpoints on blackboard.
Drops the lowest test grade and giving chances for extra credit.
I am not the best at science and managed to ACE this class you have to do biobeyond online yeah it is kinda alot but helps your grade, the test are like the reviews, and she does teach just pay attention, honestly just do your work and you will be fine I have had way worse than her at Dade, only annoying thing is the hours but its not mandatory.
Biology in generally is a hard subject. But if you study the power point and finish bio beyond, you will pass the class for sure. Take it seriously, she is a very good professor and teaches you a lot. She gives extra credit when needed and is always free in her office.
This is a blended class so don't expect her to teach you everything like baby. She gives a lot of extra credit and if you are responsible and care about your grade you will pass. It's an easy A, you just have to beware of when each test is because she is not going to remind you, so you have keep track of everything yourself and study yourself.
She is super kind and is willing to help whenever you need. We take 3 tests and she drops your lowest grade which is really nice if you struggle in a certain area of the subject. She promotes great service learning opportunities and has no problems helping out with extra-credit. Youll have to study but she gives good resources.
Shes ok. The group project was kind of annoying but not hard at all.
Shes an AMAZING teacher. I love science, and she made it a lot more interesting for me. I actually found this class easier than high school biology. There are only 3 tests and theyre very easy. Many extra credit opportunities. If possible, Id suggest taking the 6-week summer course because it is much easier. We never used the book in class.
She's very nice and understanding, 3 exams and bio beyond is the only homework. I ended up not going to class after the 2nd exam, and learned the material by myself for the 3rd exam, and got an A on the exam as well in the class. Do your service learning.
I took her for BSC2010, This professor flies through her lectures and doesn't take time to explain very well, she has 5 exams and gives study guides but these won't help that much because her answer choices on test all look the same. if you take her be ready to study a lot and teach yourself.
This professor flies through her lectures and doesn't take time to explain very well, she has 5 exams and gives study guides but these won't help that much because her answer choices on test all look the same. if you take her be ready to study a lot and teach yourself.
Great Professor. Learned a lot, she was nice. Her biology class is basic but you will learn. If you pay attention to lectures you will be fine. She does Kahoots sometimes. Be wary you will have a bit of online "Bio Beyond" homework.
This is not an easy class. Do you want to be a Bio major? you probably have to study. Prof. Alvarez is great explaining complicated topics, very accessible if you need something, you just need to do your part and study a lot. She posts PowerPoints on blackboard and there is online homework.
Professor Alvarez was a great professor. She knows what shes talking about and showed a lot of respect for her students. The tests can be a bit difficult you just really have to study through the PowerPoints and study guide. If you pay attention youll be fine. I dont normally like biology but she definitely made the class enjoyable.
She's a good teacher. She teaches using powerpoints and she lectures as she goes. She gave a review for tests and it was multiple choice but everything isn't word for word so make sure you actually read the review and understand it. There was occasional homework
She was a pretty messy professor academic wise (takes long to grade). No homework. She wasn't specific with her instructions and expected us to know automatically what she was talking about. She would give quizzes and they were easy quizzes if you studied, but would purposely try to confuse you in her questions.
Fair job at teaching. Lectures consist of her reading from a powerpoint on Blackboard Collaborate, trying to go more in depth. There is a lot of quizzes. But a majority of this class left me confused. Also I wish she would fix her grading system because it's so complicated. I'm not sure if i would recommend her again but just be ready.
This professor knows a lot about biology but she doesnt know how to teach, she just reads power points. The exams are really hard. Only good thing is that she gives extra credit for biobeyond. She doesnt post the grades on blackboard so you got to keep track of the grades on your own.
Although she was stressed due to the virus and everything, she has potential, I enjoyed her class, although I didn't paid attention at times and still passed with flying colors. Easy A.
The class keeps you busy, a 6 week class is tough. Prof. Alvarez-delfin gives you many resources, but have to do a lot on your own. She teaches lectures on Blackboard collaborate and record them. I think she cares about the students and some of the topics she covers are very cool.
Summer term is HEAVY, and this professor doesnt really help or care. 2-4 quizzes per week. Biobeyond (hw) is a lot but you find everything in quizlet, and 3 exams. I got an A but I had to work for it. You will pass this grade thanks to the app socratic and quizlet. She was meh, very monotone and not kind. Do your part and you will def pass.
I like Biology and I learned a lot. Was intense taking Bio in 6 weeks, I am sure that in long semesters this class is easier. we had a good amount of homework, exams were OK if you study. Professor Alvarez is passionate about Bio and will help you as long as you do your part.
Dont recommend her specially if its for credits most of what I learned was self taught.
If you dont study your going to fail. Test are hard if you dont study. Teaches well though
Well... to be honest. All biobeyond and launchpad quizzes are not impossible. She is quite boring and just shows powerpoints. Test are long and hard so study as much as you can... but she also takes FOREVER to input grades.
Worst professor ever , dont ruin your GPA dont take this women
If you dont like to study, then dont take this class. The test are easy as long as you put the time and effort to study the material. You can study the day before and get an A in the tests, but you need to study. The lectures can be boring, but the professor isnt a bad person. She responds quickly to emails and offers extra credit.
She makes this class more difficult than it is. Do not take her if you want to pass.
The professor is not a bad professor if you really do want to learn. She will definitely make your life harder if you do not stay on task. Her exams are quite something. I took her while were mainly online and her test was through LockDown Browser (with camera). They were not hard if you actually studied hard. Her study guides sometimes helped.
Pearson bio homework & discussion board are easy. Tests & unit exams are difficult. Quizlet helps a lot. Midterm & finally are worth 60% of final grade & are proctored & very hard. You get a useless study guide. Only way to pass is study all questions from tests and unit exams. She did give extra credit exam worth 5 points which was very nice.
She is nice and will send you email alerts of upcoming assignments to remind you. Only downfall is she uses ProctorU for mid terms and finals.
The midterm is 30%, and the final is 30%. The problem is the exam questions are too broad. I could say it has a little if anything to do with the study guide.
She is clearly passionate about what she does, and really tries to make sure that students learn, retain, and apply what they learn not only to the class, but to their future academic career, and personal life. She has the patience of a saint, and is someone I'd like to learn from in the future.
I liked Dr. Alvarez, I took her online and it was good. I learned a lot and there was not too much work.
4 exams 65% proctored , connect quizzes 15% proctored, Connect smartbook 5%, discussion board 10%, attendance/participation 5%. This is not a class you should take with other heavy classes. She gives long HWs twice a week and proctored quizzes every sunday. Her exams are 45+ questions long and about 45 minutes long (not enough time)
If you want to get ready for your Bio major, take her. I actually improved my study habits with her class. Prof. delfin gives you many resources to study and understand the material. Bio is complex and you need to do your part.
Guys, science classes are never a piece of cake, but Dr. Alvarez makes Biology cool and simple.
I never care about science but I love this class. Prof. Alvarez make Biology relevant to so many aspects of your daily life. She is passionate about the environment and Bio. If you do your assignments and study a bit, you pass with a good grade.
I had professor Alvarez-Delfin for BSC2010. She is a great professor; I highly recommend her. She is fair and makes her classes fun and interesting. You get a good grade if you do the assignments and study using her study guides. You also learn a great deal in her class.
I love Professor Alvarez. She really helped me out this semester with how caring and understanding she is. She really does want her students to pass. Theres tests and quizzes and HW but trust that everything she does is to help you pass and actually learn. I love her and I learned in her class. Recommend!!
Dr. Alvarez is a very good Professor. The tests are not easy. Exams and Connect quizzes are proctored and there is homework. If you are struggling she has office hours where you can talk to her. She does a kahoot to review before exams. I liked the way she gave her classes so i would definitely take her again.
Very good professor. I learned a lot of cool stuff.
Horrible professor she is the WORST! She is very rude and very inconsiderate she is always picking on you, and she is very sarcastic. If you do bad in a test instead of helping you she makes everything worst! I recommend that you DO NOT take her.
Professor was great. I am not good with science at all. Her class is easy enough that you will pass if you show up and do the work.
Biology is my major and I am very grateful for a great semester. Professor Alvarez is great at explaining complex concepts, no matter being online, which is not the best for thus class. So, it has been very good overall.
This professor is the worst professor I ever had. Two words can describe her SHE SUCKS. She cant teach and the extra credits arent even worth it. Dont bother emailing her if you have a question about anything this lady will either respond back to you in either 3-4 days or NOT AT ALL. Dont even take her if shes the last with an opening.
Good class. You have an easy group project, some chapter quizzes and 3 exams. Also many extracredit opportunities. Do your part and you will pass with bright colors!
The class is easy if you stay focused and you don't stray or lose track of the material for a week, most of the exam is very consistent on what is read in the books so remember to read read read!
HORRIBLE, does not reach out or answer emails. Posts assignments 3 days before it is due and does not give an extension. DO NOT TAKE
Non-Caring and is the most difficult person to reach. I do not recommend unless you want to teach yourself and have no time for assignments since she posts assignments 3 days before its due.
I don't especially love biology, but I really enjoyed this class. We learned about many cool and important topics that I was not fully aware of. This class opened my eyes about so many environmental issues out there! Recommended!
Taken for Summer(mini term) as MDC Live. She is a great professor and very understanding of students having other courses and daily lives. Probably only professor to actually utilize most of the textbook that she required. Willing to slow things down to make sure everyone understands so everyone can pass. Recommend!
Dr. Alvarez is a very caring professor. She makes you aware of the relevance of this class for your future. The powerpoint lectures are very details and she takes time to explain difficult stuff. If you are Biology major and want to understand Biology, take her.
All the bad reviews on her are exaggerated. I took her for the fall semester and honestly it was pretty great. She assigns weekly quizzes, most are covered in the lecture. She only has three tests, they're all multiple choice and not proctored. There is a group project but it's just a PowerPoint. She also gives extra credit opportunity.
She's pretty good I have no complaints. During lecture she goes over the ppt and then uploads it online after, which is good bc I can then copy down the ppt when I study. So far, tests are about what we learned. Sometimes there are weekly quizzes. She's really nice and makes jokes. Only thing is she isn't the best at responding to emails.
I don't recommend this professor at all.
Terrible experience.A nightmare.4 proctored tests plus the final,if you leave the camera angle for a second you get zero without mercy! No response to emails. The assignments at McGraw Hill(connect) are overwhelming.Countless concept maps and Kahoot.Shows no interest in helping or supporting, she enjoys putting obstacles.Only 5students finished with A
She is incredibly talented at teaching bio but it is challenging. 4 proctored exams, quizzes for every chapter, pre-lecture assignments, out-of-class readings, and 3 discussion boards. You will NEED to dedicate time to study, the exams are really in-depth so you need to know your stuff. To help study she holds kahoots the class before the exams.
I took her for the Fall 22, in person class and it was great. the class was small and that also helped. A lot of assignments, but for sure you learn a lot with her. Lectures were fun, tests were long but fair. She does reviews before exams and a couple of extracredits.
She is the worst professor that all of Miami Dade College can have.Extremely demanding and unprofessional. She does not answer emails. You don't have enough time for exams.Same with quizzes and pop quizzes. Too much homework. And even if you have good grades during the semester, if she wants, she gives you the grade she wants.I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!
Shes okay. Took her through MDC live & she would give random assignments during class, so i suggest you dont miss. Unproctored quizzes, midterm, & final. Easy class.
The professor is really sweet & her sense of humor is amazing. Homework is nonnegotiable but is really easy. The homeworks are mostly quizzes of 5 questions each which you have like a week to do for each. 1 easy group pp project 4 tests
This class had homework, quizzes as well as a midterm and a final. The quizzes weren't proctored but the Mid and final were. The midterm and final were 50 percent of your grade. If you manage to do extremely good in the other criteria then you can slightly pass with doing okay on the tests. I managed to get a C with gettig 90+ on everything else.
Dr. Alvarez D was amazing, I learned a lot. She really takes the time in the class and outside the class to help you understand. The class is not a pice of cake, but if you focus and study you can get a good grade. I recommend her if you want to learn the stuff.
One of the best professors I have ever had. If you want a professor that will make you understand and like biology choose her as your professor. If I could take her for all my biology classes I would.
Very easy class, pay attention basically and you will pass pretty much. very lenient as well.
Awesome professor. I would take her again if I could. Her lectures are in depth, but not at all hard to understand. I will say that you do have to read her powerpoint presentations and write down notes from the book to have a deeper understanding. Nonetheless, great teacher and truly teaches for you to get the concept and pass the class.
she doesnt really seem all that passionate about teaching; she's very dry and doesn't really do anything to make the lecture interesting. She has a really stern/mean look to her and she doesn't come off as very friendly and approachable. She also gives you very little time to do group projects.
chill professor and knows what they are teaching just like any other class just do your work on time and you are good.
Dr. Alvarez was a great professor—one of my best at MDC. You can tell that she loves Bio. In her class, you learn Biology and how to study. She also helped me with future career questions and invited the class to a cool event on how to be a successful pre-med student. I heard from other students that she is great at writing recomendation letters.
I always loved Biology in HS so I knew I would enjoy this class. I recommend taking her lecture with the lab because they go hand in hand together. She is a good professor & will help you understand the material. Pop quizzes, smartbook, discussions, 4 exams 1 final. I wish she taught 2011 (BIO 2) because i truly enjoyed and learned in this class.
Mrs. Alvarez was bit intimidating at first, but she ended up being in of the favorite professors ever. She is extremely caring and will go above and beyond for her students. She gives a lot assignments but they are doable and better for your grades. There's 3 exams and an optional final. She tests what she teaches, I would take her again if I could
I loved this class and Mrs. Karen! She is very caring and will answer any questions you ask her. There are lots of assignments, but they are easy and really help you in the class, 4 exams and an optional finals. You have to put in effort and study, don't expect an A without this. She is GREAT, I would take her again in a heartbeat if I could!!
Mrs. Karen's lab was super fun and honestly easy. If you take her lecture along her lab you will barely have to study for the pre-lab quizzes. There is a midterm and a final, as well as a research paper, and obviously lab reports that are cake. She's a great professor and will be available to you if you need any help or feedback.
Loved her class! It was fun, and it actually helped me prepare for the Bio lecture I was taking with another teacher. Two exams, a quiz & lab report, and a group project.
Professor Delfin is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her stuff. She tries to make Biology easy and applies it to everybody's life. There are three exams, online homework, and a group project. Take her!
She made the class cool and interesting. You can tell she is passionate about Biology. Her study guides are great. She is flexible, and there are some extra credits.
Don't take this class!!!!! She changes your final grade on purpose. I had gotten 90 as my final grade and she lowered my grade to 87. She gives quizzes every day and she is very annoying and even more so with the research project. don't choose her as a teacher, she will ruin your GPA!!!!!
This class is a cake, especially if you also take her for the lecture.
Professor Alvarez-Delfin is not a good professor. She gives some of the hardest tests ever and doesn't offer any help besides a difficult to analyze study guide. She is not a good communicator and teaches horribly.
The class is pretty straightforward - pay attention and you'll likely pass. Professor is a bit dry but offers extra credit and uses unstuck AI to help with study prep. Worth taking if you need a gen ed.
I never cared for science, but I loved this class. I learned a lot of cool stuff! Dr. Alvarez is great. Take her.
reads off powerpoint and doesn't provide any help. she accused me of cheating without any proof and said i wasn't going to amount to anything..
Do not take her for lecture. She is okay for the labs but do yourself a favor and avoid it all together. She is not good at communicating knowledge and only reads off of a PowerPoint non-stop besides that there's it's no extra help for the hard tests she gives in class. She puts very high expectations on students while delivering a lacking class.
BEWARE- Midterm and Final are worth a total of 50% of your grade. Professor responds quickly and I had no issues with her but the fact that half of your grade is dependent on the midterm and final is ridiculous considering there is so much homework. All of your other work feels useless if you dont do good taking tests.
She was very helpful and flexible. You have to study as the class is complex. She gives reviews and study guides for tests. I feel I learned a lot in this class and maybe because of that the lab was so easy!
Professor is very knowledgeable. I truly enjoyed her class and lab. I recommend taking both with her because they go hand in hand. I would definitely take it again and wish she taught BSC2011.
Professor Alvarez-Delfin is a great professor. She's very understanding with any accommodations, and she was very easy to access outside of class. Her work consists of three exams, quizzes, and book work. If you are lazy, I would definitely recommend taking her sixteen-week class. I took a six week and almost failed.
She pretty much just goes through powerpoints very quickly and doesn't give enough explanations in her lectures. She gives a quiz at the start of every class on the chapter she's covering. She also does exams and those count for the majority of your grade. So in order to pass the class you have to be willing to do a lot of independent studying.
I changed my major because she told me I was never going to make it. Extremely rude has little to no respect for her students. She contradicts herself a lot and rarely knows what she's talking about. If you study HARD you can pass but she won't be any help. I'm pretty sure she's writing her own reviews on here.
I got Ms Delfin for lab and lecture and honestly she was great. The lecture material is not easy, but she explained all and gave us a bunch of animations and practice questions to make sure we get it. She also give study guides and review with Kahot. She want students to excel, she even let you take again your worst exam to improve the class grade.
I enjoyed Dr. Alvarez lab and looked forward to the class every week. I wish I had her for my lecture too. I am planning to take her for the next Bio2011.
This professor is AMAZING! You will learn A LOT in this class! Take it if you want to learn but if you don't don't. She gives a lot of smart books assignments. She gives pop quizzes for some chapters. The test are not difficult if you study. She gives resources to study which is amazing and overall A plus! Can't wait for Bio 2011 with her!
I really liked her class, she explained every topic in the easiest way possible. We had 4 exams and an optional final, these were 60% of the grade. In general you have to study if you want to pass but I really recommend her, she is a professor that cares about her students and you can tell she is very knowledgeable about the subject.
