She is an excellent instructor. Her explanations are clear, and she does a thorough job of answering questions. She is available for extra help when needed. She has a great personality, and she is a very attractive lady!

Karen is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She makes math easy. Very willing to work with you. If you take her class seriously and do the work (there are no free rides) you will do well and learn.

Karen is the best instructor I have ever had. I had her in MAT092, and didn't do so well with another instructor in MAT120, so now I am in her class again for MAT120. Great teacher!! She is very willing to help and gives good lectures. Three projects,three tests and final. She does give lots of homework and will only allow two classes missed.

She seems very nice at first and then if you do something she doesn't like she turns on you. I did all my homework in class and Showed up late for the first class. Like an hour late. Now she hates me. Was very uncaring and ununderstanding.

I thought she was excellent. I admit that she will seem standoffish at times, but in my experience she will help you in anyway possible. she helped me a lot. just dont disrupt class and do as youre freaking told and she'll be the best teacher ever for ya =)

This instructor is one of the best that MCC has for math. She has high expectations for each student and follows through with what she says, very excellent. Will work with any situation and answer any question you may have. Answers all emails, questions and gives extra credit. A lot of work, but what math isn't? Great instructor!

Karen was an awesome teacher, I had her for a summer 1 class. I first had my doubts for taking this class during the summer, but am glad I did. Her notes are available online, highly suggest printing these out and going to class prepared with them. Her tests aren't that hard, and she is always there to help. One of the best teachers at MCC.

Great teacher. I hadn't taken a math class in almost ten Years. Appel was well organized and very clear. Her notes are worth more than gold. My summer class required 2 open book tests, and one Midterm and One Final exam. Which our class didn't have to take or make up because of a fire and loss of power to the campus. Hope to take other classes.

This teacher is one of the best that MCC has to offer. The way she teaches is easy to follow, her notes are available online AND she always makes herself available to students for questions. If I have to take another math class, I will do whatever I have to to be able to take this teacher again!!

Amazing teacher... LOVE HER!!!

For this teacher I recommend being to class on time, doing all homework assigned and do not have cell phone ringing during class. If you can follow these guidelines you will do very well in class. She does have a tendency to become very upset in a flash and does not take much to set her off. She explains math very well and I do recommend her.

What else to say about Karen but AWESOME! Explains everything in great detail. She has a lot of time in office if you need help.Makes herself available both in person and via email. I liked her so much I took her twice.

Karen is the best in my book. I had a lot of medical issues and was in and out of hospital so I missed a lot of lasstime, she offered office time to tutor me and made sure she was there for me. I still could not catch up but it was not Karen's fault it was mine.She did everything she could.I am taking it again and it will definitely be with karen!

very good instructor she is a MUST TAKE. although i was .7 from a letter grade of a B she didn't give it to me. i earned a 79.3 letter C in my over all grade..... you will learn everything you need to for the next level math, shes very helpful and explains problems perfect. i would take her again!

Karen is AMAZING! The test are take home so you can go to the tutoring center for help with them. Make sure to do all the homework because it make it easier for the midterm and final. She is a great teacher!

I've taken countless math classes, and this professor is the best! I want to take her for every math class I need for my major! Crystal clear, extremely helpful, very nice to everyone, & will even backtrack & go over things again to make sure everyone is on the same page. First online math class I have taken. She stays ahead by a month, so you can get far ahead if needed. Tests and Quizzes are self explanatory. Responds quickly to e-mail. Only professor I know who uses notebook quizzes, but it counts towards your test grades which helped me. I highly recommend if you take her online.

Had to leave class due to serious illness but she was very understanding. Very nice and will work with you on assignments etc, a lot of teachers won't do that.

So far this class was the best on-line course I have ever taken! The materials she uses to get the concepts across are spot on! There is a guided notebook you use and fill out along with your homework and it really helped clarify the subject matter. Best teacher EVER!!

Great teacher! I took this online and I have kids. So, if I got interupted on a timed test she was willing to reset. She provided extra sites for more help and always replied to my emails in a day, sometimes right then. Email conversations were polite, clear and positive. The homework gives ample opportunity to fix/see example. Offers extra credit.

I absolutely loved this teacher! She was so organized, helpful, and wanted to make sure everyone was clear and on the same page. She is always willing to help her students and has office hours. This class does require a ton of homework though. If you put the hard work into it you will not only be happy with the grade, but understand math as well.

I took Mrs. Appel for MAT151 in person and she was great! I could not always make office hours, but she was always willing to help me at more convenient times. Now I have her for MAT212 online and it has been terrific as well. She is quick at replying back on Canvas and will explain any of the problems I have on homework and concepts.

I would take Mrs. Appel again. She gives print out notes, so you can pay attention to her teaching. She is the sweetest and most helpful teacher. Anytime I needed help she would work with me even if it was not during her office hours. The key is to ask questions and complete all work (get 100's on My Math Lab). Do practice tests and attend class!

I honestly have to say that because of her I like math again! She is helpful if you dont understand something and will email out some of the answers to the homework so you can check to see if you matched it. She goes out of her way to make sure that the class understands the material throughout the lecture. She also has printed notes for you! :)

I have never liked math. I barely got into this class. And I just earned my first 100% on a FREAKING MATH TEST. SHE IS AMAZING! She has the biggest heart of any teacher I have ever met. She has truly changed my life. Please, if you are worried about taking a math class, take her. She will work with you and help you succeed.

I was nervous about taking math online but the information Karen provided was clear and straight to the point. She responded to emails almost immediately and offered extra help or more time to complete an assignment if needed. Anybody is capable of succeeding in this class if they don't procrastinate. You won't regret taking this class!

Professor Karen was very helpful and very nice to work with. She understands that students are busy with other responsibilities, other than school, and respects your time schedule. I needed an extension on two homework assignments and she granted it with no questions asked. Homework was heavy, but necessary for the final, which was reasonable.

I didn't even use the text book because the lectures were so helpful. I was terrified of an online math class, but if Professor Appel was amazing. I actually enjoyed the class. If she taught more math classes, I would take them all from her. Top notch with communication, flexibility, and thoroughness.

Professor Appel is an absolute gem. She emails each student individually throughout the course, and notices when you miss a homework assignment; and asks if anything went wrong or if she can help. I was terrified to take an online math class, but she made it more than a positive experience. If you need your Math Gen ed. taken care of, go Karen.

Appel was an amazing math instructor. Long story short I am an English major, so math is not my strongest subject. Apple made math easy to learn and follow along. My Math Lab is used and is most of your grade. She is pretty much a glorified high school teacher. Although, only downside, she got pretty crazy the last week of the semester.

Karen is an amazing teacher. She is willing to work with you as long as you communicate. She gives you study guides for every section. Majority word problems. Overall easy course as long you attend class and take good notes. No book, only mymathlab (MML). Exams are easier than MML. Toughest section was Probability Math. I recommend this course!

She is one of the nicest teachers at MCC. As long as you do what is expected you will pass. Her teaching style is very easy to follow along. We used MyMathLab instead of a book which seems like a lot of work but it isn't if you manage your work. Don't wait till the last minute to do the assignments on there or you will stress yourself.

Ive always hated math and Ive never been good. This teacher is so nice and good at explaining things to help you as a student understand the material. Not to mention she gives great feedback on tests!! The only bummer is that youll be doing homework on my math lab every night. As long as you show up and pay attention youll get a decent grade!

What an AMAZING teacher! She knows her math. If math is your weakness definitely take her! She is willing to help and goes slow when you do not understand, she makes sure everybody understands the concepts. My math lab is a pain with so much homework but every 141 class uses it so its best to have the best teacher! TAKE HER!!!

I was never the type that enjoyed attending math class; however, Professor Appel was able to show me that math was able to be fun and easy, you just have to work at it. In the end, I was able to earn A's on every single test, allowing me to not have to take the final exam. 10/10 would recommend taking her class, she is a great professor!

I would not recommend taking an online math class because of the frustration of getting problems wrong because of rounding or technical issues. The computer grading did not offer partial credit. However, the teacher was always quick to give points back when I explained errors. Her grading was fair and she always made herself available to help.

Karen was a GREAT professor. I haven't taken a math class in a few years and she made things very clear to understand. I did remember a lot of the class from high school but she elaborated and really hammered it in. Attendance is mandatory but she will allow 2 if you explain why. She really does care and will work with you if you actually try.

Over all this was a good class. There was a lot of homework/quizzes but she gives a lot of time to complete the work. Mid-Term and Final are big part of grade but if you do the homework and study guide you will pass the class. She responds quickly to messages and offers a lot of resources for help.

I took her summer class; it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! She definitely cares about her student's success! Show up to class every day, complete the homework, complete her reviews, and you'll do fine. She's willing to help you pass, but you HAVE to do your part!

She responds to questions and messages in a short period of time. All of the homework and tests were available the first day and there is unlimited attempts at the homework. She was nice and worked with me when I was dealing with a personal issue and fell a little behind.

I believe she is the best teacher. She gives so much good feedback and resources to help out. The only issue the material used to learn online. The material is very dry and hard to understand, making the homework harder. Thankfully she does provide other resources to learn.

Appel is literally the best math teacher I have ever had. I took this course twice before (different college) and failed both times but passed this class with an A+. The way the course is setup, even though its an online class, there are SO MANY opportunities to practice problems. She is available for ANY questions and does a great job explaining

Professor Appel honestly was amazing. I had a few technical issues and she understood. The tests are online and use video and auto monitoring. But she was very understanding and helpful. I took her in summer, Highly recommend.

She's so nice and very respectful! I had no issues emailing her about any concerns and she would always fix it immediately. I was never good at math but this class is reasonable. Three exams, a quiz every week open note, and an average of 2-3 HW assignments every week about 25 questions each. I would take her class again.

She is an incredible professor. I'd certainly take this class again. I've never been the greatest at math but she's inspired me to really try and for the first time in years, I actually have a good grade.

BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD! I personally love algebraic math already, but she made learning the less liked math super easy to learn. There was plenty of practice with problems before being tested. I loved the use of Aleks, i think that tool was super helpful with understanding math problems that i would keep getting stumped on. Too bad she is retiring

Karen was an amazing teacher. Her lectures were pretty easy to follow and if you had questions she would go over them again to ensure you understand them. She never made you feel stupid for asking for clarification as some teachers do. Her tests are pretty easy as long as you did the homework and paid attention in class. I highly recommend her
