always willing to help, has quizzes often but wants students to learn. easy, just do your homework

Goes super fast, but will pause to help slow folks like me. Sometimes she will overcomplicate the matter, but this may also reflect on the lousy textbook. Lots of homework - do it!

Ms. Barr is an excellent teacher. She makes herself available through many different ways to help the student succeed. She moves quickly, but is great for a motiviated student.

Do your homework, it is the only way you're going to do well in this class, in fact it's also part of your grade (graded on whether or not you attempted to do it). Easy pop quizes, fair tests and exams. You'll learn a lot from her. Overall, a great teacher.

shes gr8. very easygoing, has gr8 method of teaching. she may go fast, but if ur lost, make sure u ask or go to her office to get help. othawise, ull do not so gd on quizzes n exams. tests r not hard, n always has one extra credit question.

Although some people say that they don't like this professor, i'd still say that she is one of my favorite teachers... yeah she is challenging but in a helpful way. I'd recommend taking her! As long as you do you homework and go to class you'll do fine! :)

VERY nice teacher. I'm typically a B student in math, but i got an A in Barr's math 151 class. Her pace seemed to be just fine - not too fast and not too slow either. As i've found with any math class, do u homework and you'll get good grades. If u try to just study the material and not do the homework then you'll have trouble.

ONE OF THE BEST! SHE's MY FAVE. I wish she culd teach all my math classes. She knows math well n' knows how to make you understand. To others tellin' she's fast- You should understand she has to cover the whole material in 16 weeks. I extremely recommend taking classes with her if u wanna know math well. best teacher ever met.

I hate math and am not very good at it, but Professor Barr is a great teacher and explained it very well. She is very helpful and will give you as much of her time as you need to make sure you understand the topic. I highly recommend her for MTH 151.

Barr is a good teacher, but she can be very abrupt. Her tests tend to be difficult but she's overall a very fair teacher. And she'll set aside time to help you with anything. I really liked her. I got an A in her class and now I'm taking her for Honors Math 152!

I had this professor years ago. She was one of the BEST teachers I've EVER had - deserves the smiley face. Go to her class!

lots of homework & quizzes but if you take notes and do the homework you'll do well on the quizzes. the test are very similiar to the quizzes. overall a good teacher.

She is a very helpful and understanding teacher. It was the first math class I ever enjoyed. She does tend to move a little fast, but if you ever need help she is more than willing to meet with you.

Great teacher. Breaks everything down into simpler terms. Attendance is highly recommended, but not required. Missed quite a few and she arranged times for me to make up quizzes. Doesn't like students talking during class. Does move somewhat quickly over hw problems. Tests are average.

Highly recommend her for those who are thinking about taking pre calculus or calc. Attendance is not mandatory but its highly recommended. But even if you miss class she is willing to help you in her office. Goes through step by step. Easy to understand. Only negative is she makes a few slight mistakes, but not that often.

She is a great teacher! She breaks down everything, making it easy to undrestant. She let you make up quizzes and exams in case you miss. However, don't get in her bad side or else you will be there for the rest of the semester. I'll take her for MTH 166.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Her methods of explaining things are superior to other professors that i have had. In high School i missed many of the fundamentals but they came clear to me in this class. Further she is always available during her office hours and is a very big help.

Took course online. Mathxl explains problems really well but she gives quizzes in blackboard that are opposite/and or completely different of the problems we learned. Not fair! Also not allowed to use formula notes for exams. You must path both exams to pass course. Weekly discussion board postings are useless.I do not recommend. Find another teach

Professor Barr was one of my favorite first professors! Great attitude, very understanding, but did not put up with any crap! Attendance only mandatory for quizzes given each class which indefinitely helped your grade! Defintely recommened her!

I took online class. It was good. I needed two point to get B and she gave me! Not all teacher would do that. I think she is nice.

She is an amazing teacher. She is tough, but hey this is college not highschool! She will receive late hw you just have to actually do the hw. Her tests are very hard and the course is rigorous. You will come out of the class actually knowing something though!

You wana know about Karen Barr? I got three words for u'll. "The Best Teacher EVER" I not only got an "A" I got encouragement. She did't just teach me math, she made me love it. Omg, she has a great personality. Ladies and Gentlemen last four words for u'll "you will love her" the way way I do?? Enjoy!!!!

Ms. Barr was a wonderful teacher! Class was easy as cake and she was very kind and helpful. Just don't miss any tests and you will do great!

If you come to class and do the homework, you will definitely get a good grade. It might be a lot of work but you will learn a lot in her class. She is also very helpful outside of class, so don't hesitate to make use of her office hours.

lemme be honest with u, she is good with her teachings and will be more than glad to help you during her office hours(helpful)but her grading is very poor

I took MTH 152 online with this instructor. I had to email with questions on three different occasions and she was very quick to respond, even on the weekend I can get a pretty quick response. She was clear and helpful with her responses and I think her grading is fair. How I felt after a test was usually reflected in my grade.

I had Professor Barr for MTT4 last year. She was always very nice. The class itself requires a lot of effort (the program she teaches is not her own.) But she is always clear when she helps you with any problems you have. If you show up to class regularly and make an obvious effort in your studies, she will notice and be more willing to help out.

My experience with Professor Barr has been pleasant. Math is not my best subject however I found with some work on my part and asking for help when needed I had no problem passing. If you show up ready to learn you will have a great experience. If you want to have social hour don't bother.

She's a good teacher. Do the homework every week and do all of the odds for the sections that will be on the test and you will pass. She offers five bonus problems for extra credit, each adding 1% to your overall grade if you get them. Don't bother if you're lazy, math courses at NOVA have a high failure rate.

When I was taking her class, I thought she was the worst teacher ever. She relied heavily on Aleks to teach us and simply went over textbook problems in class. Looking back and comparing her to my current teacher, her style worked for me. She taught through example problems, which was helpful. Miss her as a teacher.
