sometimes hard but very fair grader

Contrary to what others said, she is a really good professor. I have taken her 2 semesters in a row and if you are willing to do the work without complaing (your in college get used to it) then you will have no problems. I recommend taking her over some others I have heard of this semester...

I took Prof. Becknel fall 06. The class was interesting. Alot of hard work. You need to put in the time if you want a good grade. She always answered our questions, despite what other reviews have said. She gave extra credit to boost your grade. Overall I had a good experience in her class and would take her over again.

The Professor is not hard, but the course material is, do not underestimate! No nonsense, no joke Professor. Professional and strict but animated in class to keep attention, the secret to her class is her notes supplemented with textbook reading. Above all, if unsure ASK and participate in class. GL all^^

Ignore previous comments that suggest that this prof does not answer questions-she is very helpful. Exams are STRAIGHT FROM CLASS NOTES. Pay attention, STUDY, and you'll be fine. (Welcome to college.) If something was unclear, she was always willing to clarify. Drops lowest exam AND lab grade. Only regret: I wish she taught Bio 12.

I don't know what the other reviews are about. Pro. Becknel was very helpful to all of us. She gave our class two take home exams and dropped the lowest exam grade. A "student" in my class made it worst for the rest of the class by complaining to the dept about ppt not be posted on time and a take home exam. She's a good professor.

She's a good professor. I'm in the nursing program now and taking bio 12. Her test are from her notes and she tells you the topics to study for an exam. She gives extra points to help us boost our grades. I enjoyed her class and hope she would teach bio 12.

GREAT Professor!She gives pre-test for all 4 tests. Final is the same as 4 tests which we had in semestr. All questions from her power point. You even don't need to buy the lecture book. Be in class and reade the notes! She is easy just be nice to her!

Ms. Becknel can be a lil fresh but she means well. She is an extremely fair grader and clear lecturer. Basics of course: No homework, four lecture exams, final, ten assessments for lab, lab midterm and final. The course load can seem a bit hefty but Becknel makes it feel like a piece of cake just try not to get on her bad side. Bonus: she gives extra credit and drops lowest exam grade (lecture exam only not final). Best of luck!!

She's straight forward about grading, exams and notes. I've never had a problem asking a question and getting a response. A lot of work, but she makes it doable to get an A or B. Overall great professor.

She's a very fair and straightforward professor. Her test material was straight from her notes, i didn't have to read the book at all. She gives you slides and for lab exams she gives you the information before and just changes the order of the questions on the actual test. All in all, she's a great and helpful professor. i would def recommend her

I had a great experience with this professor. Her quizzes were fair, they came from her the lab reports which were directly from the lab manual. She was helpful and answered questions.

Prof. Becknel is great. She explains most of the material simple and clear. If somebody didn't get it she goes over it. Tests are not easy but fair and have extra credit. Labs are long and grouped. If you are ready to put in the work take her, it is worth it. I enjoyed her class and learnt a lot from this class .

I can't be happier with this Prof. Expectations were clear and the grading is more than fair. 3 lect exams, lab midterm and final , bunch of lab reports and lect final. Lecture notes are posted (optional) and lab reports are posted (mandatory). She is approachable and helpful when asked. Great prof and cool people. Really enjoyed this class

Loved her and taking hr class again for Bio 1200. She gave a lot of extra credit on every test. Her tests are based on everything and exactly what she says in class. You work in groups in lab for lab reports (not into group work but it definitely helped for the 6 weeks). Lots of lab reports. Has an attitude sometimes but it's whatever, not personal

Despite this being a difficult course, Prof. Becknel has made it very fair. Lab assessments are on BB, lab handouts, and OH microscope drawings!!!. Exams have extra credit and one take home. Good Prof, I recommend her and a nice person too. THANK YOU.

Very dense course. Saw reviews here and made a solid choice! She is amazing! She gives out LOTS of extra credit. ONLINE assessments, lab manuals used during lab quizzes and notes used on some exams. I wish I could take her for a different course she is an absolute blessing. Uses easy analogies and animated videos to explain any dense lesson.

So it was the longest Bio class ever, she covered everything, the reviews I saw initially about her didn't help, but I didn't regret taking the class, my bio knowledge has improved, I think I got the best Prof out of the lot, and she gave extra credit which was optional, but I did it, lab test every week lowest dropped,3 exams,&online exams also.

Prof. Becknel is one of the best prof at kbcc. She is open and caring. She is tough because she wants all her students to pass. Just study her notes, lab booklets and handouts and you will definitely pass. Her exams are very easy if you study and hw is online. Took her class in the summer so it was definitely very hard but she makes the class interesting and fun. She makes you watch many videos so you can understand things more clearly and also demonstrates on her own. Lots of homework, lots of reading, her tests and quizzes were fair and everything was from her lectures.

I had Prof. Becknel for Intro to Chem, and I think she explained everything pretty nicely. She would even put on videos for certain topics, such as Mendelev's periodic table. She also answered all of my questions quite clearly after class, all in all a quite knowledgeable and helpful professor.

I took CHM 100 with Prof. Becknel. She explains the material so that it is understandable. She stays after class to help. I would recommend her.

I thought this semester will never end :) Prof Becknel is a great person, very kind and helpful. But sometimes my class noticed that she did not know some material, if someone asked her a question. just finished chem 100 and the course was amazing. Prof Becknel was so respectful and caring about her students if you have any questions she always answers, I would 100% recommended her to students who want to learn something. tip* before the final exam, review her powerpoints and do all homework that she gives you.

No tricks! Bio12 is a LOT of material, Prof Becknel does EVERYTHING she can to make it easier. Open notes lab quizzes, drops the lowest, & gives tons of EC to improve your grade. HW is a lot but can be done over a week's time and is a GREAT review for tests. Teaches with lots of visuals and drawings which is vital to retain A&P info. Recommend!

Be ready to do homework and work hard for your grade. If you don't like doing homework then simply drop the class. Her class is for students who really want to learn. Took her bio12: Sp19. She is highly intelligent n does everything she can to help you pass. Lab quizzes r open book u can handwrite ANYTHING in the manual and use it for the quizzes. Tests based off HW. She doesnt spoon feed u- go to class, do the work and youll do well. Her class helped me do very well on the TEAS n prepared me for nursing.

I wish all my science Prof were like Prof Becknel. i was first afraid to take her class because of the bad reviews, however i'm glad i took her class. I like professor Becknel. Yeah her work load is alot especially during a six week module but it is worth taking her. Her notes and homeworks really help you prepare for her exams. As long as you try your best in homeworks you will definetly pass her class with a good grade.

This professor requires much time spent on reading, her test questions are tricky, but you always get what you earn. For me, she is one of the best professors, as she makes sure you learn. So if you want to get easy do not take her, but if you want to really learn something, she is for you. At the end of school, you won't regret taking her.

There is a lot of assignments however they are easy if you pay attention to the reading and do it on time. I had her for the winter module and it was not bad. Do your work and email her for questions. The exams are based off of homeworks. My advice to you is respect her and she will do the same. Others gave her attitude and it did not go anywhere.

I love teachers who make me study and learn, if you like it too she is the right teacher. I think being at a college means studying and trying to do your best and not having things easy. I liked the classes, especially the laboratory ones, as they were very explanatory in a practical way.

I was scared to take this professor after reading the reviews here, however after being in her class I can tell you those negative reviews are dead wrong. Yes the work is a lot for a 6-week course, but she isn't trying to fail you and she WANTS you to succeed. Do the work, read the slides, and you'll do fine. 10/10 would take again.

She wasn't very friendly and often discouraging. She spoke to people in a condescending tone. Last few weeks, she warmed up to us and was quite pleasant. Prof. Becknel was definitely rough around the edges, and not very welcoming at the beginning. But she gave us the information needed to succeed, we had to put the work in for sure. She warmed up at the ending and seemed more at ease. Do not recommend taking in summer, 6 weeks and all the information given; very overwhelming.

I was terrified to take this class because of all the reviews. So happy I did! She did ALL so we could do well. Reviews that helped so much!
