Really good teacher..explains biology really well and helps the student understand easier. Not boring at all and gives good examples to help understand..take her!

She's a wonderful teacher! Very clear, Very helpful. Down to earth with the students. Ask a question, she'll help you. Whether it be about school, life, career..she'll help. Labs are fun too! Everything you need to know is in the games and study guide. *thumbs up* Show up, work hard, study and you'll get at least a B.

Clearly the person who rated her poorly is an ignorant person who never read the book. Karen does an awesome job explaining everything. If you simply pay attention and read the text, you will get an A. You have to be a moron to get anything else in this class; which clearly there are many at MV. I highly recommend her, she's an awesome teacher.

I agree with the one person... she definitely favors people. I'm one of the people she does NOT favor. She has a major bug up her whatever, and it gets really old. If it wasn't so late in the course, I would drop her class. Also, I planned on taking her next semester... forget that. She was awesome at first... until I got to know her. WhatEVER.

Karen is probably the best biology teacher in the school. She uses lots of course material in her presentation and she doesn't mind explaining anything to her students. I feel that anyone who does not like her as a professor should rethink about persuing biology or any medical profession.

Very good teacher. She is very thorough and clear when explaining things. However, it's not a blow of class if that's what you're looking for. If you put the time into this class, it won't be hard and you'll learn a lot. USE THE STUDY GUIDES FOR TESTS!!

If you actually study & attend every class(paying attention), you are sure to get an A. Extra credit "jeopardy" games are helpful, write down questions to study>>will help alot on test!!

That's what all the teachers should be like. She is hard and does expect a lot from you but very good at explaining things. If you actually want to learn something she is a teacher for you if you are one of those blow off people then I wouldn't recommend her.

She was a very good teacher. Made class fun. U mostly work in groups. Lab are interesting and fun. Take notes for the first half of class, break and then lab for the rest. She is easy to talk to and willing to help. Tests and quizzes are all based off of notes..Easy grade if you study. Good to take with a friend for fun.

Easy grade, class was fun, took the 5 hour class and she made it very bearable and enjoying. Don't listen to the guy below those 3 comments were made in the same day by the same person, she is very nice and the class is easy

Ms. B is awesome. The tests are based off of your class notes and objectives. If you go to class, read the text, and take notes its impossible not to get an A in the class

I had her for a three week class and I liked her a lot. She gave us breaks because it was like a 5 hour class. The material was difficult, but possible to ace. we did pig dissections and had a field trip to a canyon.

Mrs Borgstrom was (and is) a phenomenal teacher. She was very clear, enthusiastic, funny, and helpful. She really turned be on to Biology and teaching. She changed my life. Take her!

Awesome teacher, but plan on studying and applying yourself in class. She wants you to understand and ask questions when you don't. I hate any kind of science and still got A's & B's on my work, so she obviously is a great teacher. Read the book, study your notes and you can't go wrong!

This teacher was excellent! Very knowledgable and concise. She likes to go outside for class too, which is a nice change of pace! She teaches bio 111, 112, and botany in the fall, i would recommend taking her for ANY of these classes! i had a blast in her botany class! Not only is her teaching great, but she's a MAJOR HOTTIE TOO!

Karen explained the material thoroughly and always solicited questions to ensure we understood it. Her exams are multiple choice and are based on a list of items which we're given for each unit and which she goes over in lectures. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities through Jeopardy review games and small assignments.

I had professor Borgstrom over the summer last year for bio and she was an AMAZING professor. She was always there to help and explained things very well! I really learned a lot from her! If you do the work and look over the objectives for the exam you will have no problems getting an A.

Mrs. B is awesome, I took bio and botany with her. She made me love biology even more. I will say, don't miss class, she is over the top strict when missing class. You won't be able to make up AT ALL. Other than that, the woman is brilliant.

I've taken both of her Bio 111 and 112. Great teacher, fun and helpful when needed. She knows when to keep calm is always smiling! =) Don't know how you'd be able to fail her class.

Mrs Borgstrom was a good teacher, funny and lax, so I can't complain. Her class was NOT as easy as others are saying, but not particularly difficult. With moderate effort, I still only got a high C which she did not bump to a B. She seemed to be an understanding teacher who respected all of her students.

She is a great teacher. gives good notes to preepar you for the tests. she gives extra credit for the tests if you win the review games. the only thing that is really hard is the lab practicals. theres lots of chances to get points to bump up your grade. i would recomend her to anyone.

She is the best biology teacher I've ever had! Her lectures are clear and is always there to help you if the labs get too confusing. Mrs. B is my favorite science teacher i've ever had in my life she makes the class interesting and kept me awake throughout the class and is really passionate about her job. She also gives reviews for the tests and practicals and if you take the time out of your day to study them there is no reason you shouldn't pass her quizzes and tests with an A

I think Mrs. Borgstrom is a very nice lady and she will help you whenever your in need. She makes biology a little bit more fun and will make sure her students understand the topic well. The tests are a little bit lengthy ranging from 50-75 questions. You will have to study for the tests, the practicals are not so bad. Taking her for BIO-112!

Borgstrom is the best, one of the funniest and coolest teacher ever! She is very clear at explaining things and she gives out notes so you can follow along and fill in things. Before the test, you guys review. And labs are easy and she helps whoever!

Shes a very nice lady and will help you if you ask for help. I dont recommend buying the book because i didnt even use it. She hands out her powerpoints for each lecture and gives a unit study guide for the exams which is where i study from. The only thing is that she sometimes speeds through the lecture. Biology is a pain in general so idk

i loved Mrs B! i thought botany was going to be superrr boring and had no clue what to expect, but she made it really interesting lol. we took a few field trips and went out into the prairie alot (she gave extra credit if we stayed a little later and helped out) it was easy and fun. the tests were pretty easy too. id take her as a prof ANY DAY!

One of my fav professors this semester. It's important that you pay attention during lecture because she's a little fast paced and we learn tons of information that is helpful during lab. Tests are usually 50 to 70 questions long and like two hw assignments a week. Your grade is up to you, so do the assignments. So helpful and makes class fun.

Honestly wish I could take for other BIO's. She gives long lectures, but adds stuff that contributes to everyday things so you're actually entertained! Is very precise on how she wants labs done, offers minimal extra credit but still some. She is always willing to help if you work for it. If you just read the book like she says you should do great.

You can tell she loves to teach and loves the material. Lectures are long but interesting. Will explain very well if you don't understand. She's funny and nice. You will have lab everyday but sometimes they'll only be thirty minutes long. my class was an hour of lecture and then and hour and a half (ish) of lab.

Professor Borgstrom is THE BEST. I was a bit nervous about biology, as I've never been science oriented. Our class met once a week, so there was a lot of things to cover, but it was incredible how much we learned. She was so patient, extremely funny, very professional and made it fun to come to class. I would take her again in a heartbeat!

Mrs.K is super sweet and kind. Her lectures are always interesting and as long as you pay attention in her class, you will learn a lot from them. She gives out a note guide packet that is very helpful so it's not like you're taking too many notes. I recommend her as a teacher. She cares about her students and is always there to help.

Great Prof! Very nice and caring. Lectures are clear, interesting, funny, at the right pace, and she knows her stuff. Has guided notes and objectives for the whole semester, which made note taking easier, and very good notes to study. Several exams throughout, so not too much material is crammed into each exam. Learn a lot, and no busywork. TAKE!

I loved her lectures. Overall a fun teacher. She hypes you up about biology. She gives extra credit. So sweet and well respected.

Really wants her students to succeed. There are a lot of online assignments, but they're not too difficult and really help raise your grade. You probably won't need the textbook b/c her lectures cover a lot, but you do need the lab book. She also hands out a "notes outline" packet. A B or higher is doable as long as you review your notes/lectures.

Best teacher I have taken so far at Moraine. She gives you guide notes that go along with her lectures so you know whats important to know for the test. She gives you tons of extra credit opportunities and makes the material as easy as possible. If you do bad on any test you get to retake them with a group of other students. Take her for any bio!!

Professor Borgstrom is an awesome professor. She is there to help you when you need it, She explains the material and offers enough extra credit where it's impossible to fail. Anyone who complains that Professor B is anything but a good professor, will most likely not leave Moraine Valley with anything other than debt

Borgstrom is a great teacher. If you need help she'll help, just ask. She gives extra credit opportunities here and there. The study guide is in the syllabus. You can't slack in this class, you need to put some effort into it. Quizzes on Canvas is like hw every week. Lots of self-learning but its actually a decent course.

Mrs.B is a great Prof. take her & work hard, u'll surly pass with A or B! Bio classes requires reading ahead & studying outside of class. as long as you study the notes everyday, u should be just fine! she's very sweet & will do everything to help you out as long as you show your effort! she walks in with positive attitude everyday and will start the class by making the atmosphere lighter or would make you laugh! take her & do work hard, it will pay off! she gives u study guide ahead of time so u know what to study. Professor Borgstrom always replies to her emails in a timely manner. You have questions ask her. Biology isnt going to be a class where you wont have to study. Put the work in & youll pass. She assigns homework frequently but the assignments really arent bad at all. Tests are Honorlock protected as well.

Professor Borgstrom is a very good professor! I would recommend this class if you like to biology a lot and are good at being on top of things! The online labs are very very very time consuming and tests are recorded so this is definitely not a class that you can cheat in. Overall a good class just very time consuming!!

She's a great professor!! She's understanding and gives extra credit and always ready to help. You will have to study and spend time on labs though. If you do everything on time and work hard you'll be fine. Definitely recommend this class with her :)

For the online fall semester of 2020, she was one of the few teachers that adapted the curriculum for the course. I still learned without having to teach myself almost everything. Her class is very well-guided and she is very helpful. I especially liked the "Study-Block" discussion post.

She was one of the few teachers who adapted the lessons for the online environment in the Fall 2020 semester. She guided the coursework very well so it didn't feel like the student had to teach themselves all of the material. She's a good teacher if you take her in class but can be a little annoying and strict/ tough grader on labs and tests. As a person, she is not bad but she was only of the only options I had, and still got a B. Unit 1 -2 was easy, 3 gets harder and 4 you relax a bit, overall good experience.

Professor Borgstrom was a very nice person and responded to canvas messages pretty fast. However, she is a very tough grader and will knock off points for the silliest mistakes. The labs take forever, so don't leave it for the last minute. Unit 3 was the hardest, and her final was exactly like her practice review.

Although, at times, Professor Borgstrom can be a hard grader, she gives really good feedback. As a bio major, I feel that I learned a lot from her class. If she teaches a future course, I would take her again. She is available outside of class via email and is very helpful when you have questions.

Professor Borgstrom is a nice and understanding professor,i had my own excuses and she was understanding and nice enough to give me extensions, her class is not easy if you study you will get a good grade, she’s s tough grader like she would give you a 1.89/ 2 for unknown reasons, labs are long they take 3-4 hours, her exams are honorlocked.

I took this class hybrid (in person labs, lectures on your own). This class was a breeze. All the other ratings saying that she was tough are just people who did not want to put in any effort. She has a vast understanding of what she's teaching, and is always reachable outside of class.

She answers questions really well and lets you turn in the labs the next week if you haven't finished them in class. This was the hybrid course.

She's a really good professor, and it's an easy class if you put the effort in. Many extra credit opportunities.

I had her for COL-101 and she was very sweet. She gave us good advice for tools we could use around the school and planned fun activities and group work :)

i really loved this prof b. she is really good at explaining concepts and her exams are just like the notes. the labs are really easy and overall very easy to pass if you pay attention. u def dont wanna miss the lectures bc the notes posted on canvas r condensed and explained in detail in class. very understanding and nice.

Professor Borgstrom is a great teacher if you struggle with science in general. I took her class completely online. She sends reminders often regarding assignments and tests coming up. Her exams are proctored, but she allows students to use their study guides as long as you complete and turn it in on time. Highly recommend.

She is an absolutely amazing teacher for anyone who is willing to put the work in. All you need to do is show up for every class, listen to all the things she says (they will be a good portion of her exams), and just have a good attitude. She likes to connect with her student so don't be afraid to talk, even if you are wrong.

Professor Borgstrom is a solid bio instructor. Engaging lectures, helpful when you need it, and fair exams. Use the free textbook and unstuck ai to prepare - it really helps make the class manageable.

This professor is the best professor ever! She really is amazing and it's sad to know that she's retiring after next semester.
