she is very helpful teacher i have ever had in math. her grading system is good. if you get bad score in test, she will give you bonus points to iprove your score.
She goes too fast and doesn't care to help you if you fall behind.
I thought she was pretty good. She went a little fast, but nothing that a little preparation on my part couldn't deal with.
trust me every single one of yall,, never take this crazy teacher,,shes driving me nuts
She is very intelligent and even attractive. She knows her stuff. She does all of her notes and problems on a projector and posts them on web ct which is nice so you don't have to take notes. There are 5 tests and (guessing) 50 points of bonus. No graded homework. That's it. Nothing to fall back on. When it comes to grades she is merciless.
Hardest teacher
Class moves very fast, if you get behind you will probably never catch up. Uses SmartBoard for teaching exclusively and expects you to know how to do the material beforehand.
Amazing teacher. Hated math till her class. Very thorough and helpful. Being in class is necessary because it is fast paced. Took this class 4 times-failed or dropped until K. Bright. Most definately the best teacher I've ever had. Drops lowest test grade depending on absences. I suggest her class to everyone Again... awesome!
She can explain things pretty well, but she can only explain it one way. If you don't understand math very well I would try to get a different teacher.
worse teacher on this planet
She and brigans teach at the same level, but at least brigans will let you have a homework grade to fall back on. Honestly I don't see how she is a teacher at the college. Her notes are too easy while the homework doesn't match her notes, which the test are suppost to be "easier than her homework" is a lie. Aviod her and take Williams.
Took Cal. 1&2. She's very clear and her homework/notes/test strategy is easy. If you know how to do the problems in her notes(they're online), then you'll do well. She is VERY picky when it comes to grading(she cured me of carelessness), but is generous with partial credit. She is a great teacher, but apparently not many people pass her class...
In her Cal 2 class I made a C. In conclusion, I didn't get a good grasp on the material. 1. She just goes over the basic simple and leaves you to figure out the harder problems with little help from her. 2. Her grading is rediculus to the point that I can't see why she still has a job in teaching. 3. Avoid her cause her class is not worth the money
She is a mathematics major, so she knows her stuff and did a great job communicating the concepts to me. She assigns homework that is doable. The test is almost EXACTLY out of the notes (which she posts online). I loved her class! Her grading will teach you to be meticulous and CAREFUL! She's not a breeze, but I think she teaches very well!!!
She is a **** from hell do not take her and its sad to see her at a head of a division.
I started out with an okay understanding of derivatives before the class started. Once I got in there, it was all shot. The guy that sat next to me did decently in the class, but was still disappointed. By the end of the semester there were only 5 people left. SHe's nice, and is willing to help. But I dont' understand her.
She teaching style is just pure akward math theory. She does not work hardly any proplems. I perfected her tests cause I refused to sleep. She is a horrible teacher an she needs to be fired.
Take Mr. Williams he is worth your time and money.
she is very nice, and knows her stuff very well. she upload class note online, and makes tests from the note and homework. If you pay attention and willing to study, I cannot see problem at all.She has a nice personality and always like to help. You will really learn Math from her.
I had a positive experience with this teacher. She makes it clear to students that she is available outside of class for those who need extra help and her online notes are awesome. Cal. is a class where you need to put forth a little effort yourself to be successful.
She did all she could to make sure her students understood the concepts taught in class. When questions were emailed in, she always took class time to go through them. She is a great teacher. Everything on the tests were taken from the notes in class, which she also posted on blackboard to study.
I had her for Precal Trig, and I probably wouldn't have done very well had I not had previous Trig experience in high school. Her lectures are all theory and very boring. You get no actual practice in class, so you're left wondering what to do on homework. Avoid this teacher for upper-level maths unless you are confident in your abilities
Precal Trig is not that easy...but she made it look soo easy...Very helpful and very attractive...My suggestion though you need to review it first before you see her, that way you know what to ask for...
Very helpful....very clear...Pre Cal Trig is not easy, but she made it looks very easy..a lot of short cut...she is also attractive..My suggestion is to review your material first before u see her, so you know what you need to ask for
she teaches great, but she says if you take the test how she taught it you'll fail. And thats what 80% of the class did. the class started with 40 people and maybe 10 people pass with a B or above. Her test are horrible I she think pulled them from a previous teacher. I retook the class with E. Williams the next semester and made an A+.dont takeher
Very patient, crystal clear and attractive teacher..Make Math as easy as a pie..Love her and have very soft and calm voice...If you are not good at Math, maybe u should try her..she will take time to explain i to u...
Took her for MTH110 & MTH112 for a reason! She is a tremendous teacher. I never enjoyed math until her classes. She is very helpful and answers any questions. Drops lowest test grade if you have less than 3 absences. Gives partial credit on tests.
Very sweet lady and makes herself available for help and answers any questions w/o making you feel stupid.
Mrs.Bright is one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure to have at Calhoun. She really takes the time to make sure that everyone knows the material before moving on. She also makes herself available, and makes great use of Blackboard! She posts ALL the notes in there. So if you miss a class meeting, it is very easy to get caught up!
She was a wonderful teacher and very easy to understand. She helps anyone who needs it. She has pretty open office hours. I never left the class feeling like I didn't learn something. You don't really need the book if you take notes in her class. The tests are easy if you review the homework before you take the test. She's generous w/ partial cred.
Ms. Bright is an awesome teacher. Thanks to her, I love calculus. She expects you to work hard and grades picky on her tests, but she is sweet and always willing to help you or explain concepts. She made calculus so easy to understand.
Mrs. Bright genuinely cares that her students understand the material, so she bends over backwards to help those who care enough to ask. What she teaches is very clear and understandable as well. The only thing is that she is a little finicky with grading sometimes. Overall great teacher though.
Very nice and explains everything well. It was a hard class for me. Always do the five point online bonus for the tests. The only grades she gives are for homework and test so it is important to do ALL the homework.
I took this teacher for precal-trig and passed pretty easily. I didn't study for any tests, but it shouldn't be hard to make an A or a B with minimal effort. She doesn't offer enough homework though, so you may need to develop your own study habits.
Her style of teaching is different from traditional math lectures. Every thing is done via slides shown through a projector. You don't get much in class practice, besides watching her QUICKLY work through problems. She is very rushed. I've missed a lot of notes and important points because she goes through them so fast.
She's very nice & helpful! She's was more than happy to answer questions. My biggest recommendation is to meet with her during her office hours & work through the study guide for the tests with her! The only time I made a bad grade on the test is when I didn't meet with her. She also has recordings online of the chapters incase you miss class.
she wasn't helpful when students asked questions
Terrible. She does not actually teach. You have to learn by the by the non user friendly book.
She is terrible! Even when you ask her a question, the answer is not understandable. She is willing to help but in class nothing is clear. Have to teach yourself in this class
Ms. Bright knows calculus and is helpful if you have questions. I took this class online, which probably made it much more difficult. My recommendation would be that you take her face-to-face class. However, she always answers emails and is very helpful if you need to visit her office for help :) I would take her again if I needed more math :)
I took calculus online with Ms Bright. Not that I like online classes, but it was only option that semester for me. First of all, it is a very difficult class by its nature (unless math is your thing) but doable if you study really hard and can organize yourself good. Ms. Bright is very helpful if you are seeking help. I highly recommend her. OCH
She is a very thorough teacher and goes above & beyond to help. Whenever I messaged her with a question on homework, she always responded the same night. If you do the practice tests (which I believe is essential to passing), you'll get a B or better on every test. Not an easy class, but she really does try to help. Would recommend her to anyone.
She is an excellent teacher; but she's tough as nails; but then again PRE-CAL is going to be that way. You have to work at it and work at it and work at it until it all fits into place. I know.....I took this class twice. Lord have mercy it was not easy. Out of all my classes I've ever had to take, Pre-cal is the only class I've had to 1 +
Attitude is amazing !
Karen Bright is the best math teacher I have ever had. I had never made an A in math before I took her class. She is more than willing to help outside of class and will do anything she can to be flexible. She wants to see her students excels.
Dr. Bright is an excellent math professor. Her lectures were clear, concise and easy to follow. Her grading criteria is made clear from the outset of the course, and she was always easy to get in contact with. Watch the lecture videos, do the homework in MML, practice from time to time, and you're sure to do fine.
Mrs. Bright is a really good professor. Her class is hard, but assignments are straightforward. She gives partial credit on tests, and posts plenty of practice tests and study guides. All content is completed through MML. Tests closely resemble the practice tests, so do those and you will be fine. Definitely recommend this instructor.
Ms. Bright is not the best math teacher. Her video lectures are long and confusing, she gives WAY too much homework, and she isn't always accessible. Her video lectures were so bad I ended up teaching myself Pre-cal trig. She was kind, but I just didn't learn well from her.
Mrs. Bright is a great teacher. Her lecture videos are clear and very helpful. Homework and the practice exam are just like the test. Anytime I had a question, she was always available and very helpful. I wish I could take her again for Math 125.
Solid Math teacher, lectures were great. Prof. Bright always promptly answers questions via email. Im personally going to try to take her for as many of my math courses that I can.
Bright was a decent professor, took a summer online class with her and ended up having to spend money on a tutor because her lectures were way too long and each homework assignment averages 1 1/2-2 hrs. Tests were difficult and timed so you didnt get to finish most of the time. Accessible but not easy unless your good at math
Mrs. Bright is a great math instructor. She explains math really well and helps you when you ask. She is accessible outside of class and is always on time and ready to teach. Aleks, the math online software used, is (I'm not going to lie) tough. It is tedious online work. Just complete all the online work, show up, and pay attention.
Brights class was clear and concise. Understand your homework, and you will do fine. The practice test helped tremendously. I am not a fan of the comprehensive final exam; it consists of problems from all sections... but the practice final preps you for everything you need to know! I used the examples to teach myself. HW takes a lot of time.
Love, Love, Love Karen Bright!
Her lecture is clear and straight forward. She explains the rational while she works through questions. Tests are just like what she taught in class and the pre-test samples. Caring for student and grade exams clearly. Definitely recommend!
Wonderful teacher, very helpful and easy to reach. Do the homework on time and youll definitely pass.
I took Ms. Bright for MATH 112 online class and she was super cool. you will have to do the chapter section work and the practice quizzes for a grade your chapter exams are worth higher than the actual final exam so work hard to get really good grades on the section work and the chapter exams.. she is easily reached outside of class
Super sweet woman, really cares about her students. Anything you ask her, she will always do what she can to help. There's a fair amount of work, but it is never overwhelming.
This professor cares nothing about the success and well being of her students. She likes to send emails out at midnight for things that are due the following day but takes about 3 days for her to respond to one of her student's emails. She does however have her phone number listed in the syllabus, but good luck getting her to answer it.
Took short term semesters 112/113 with her online and had an A+ easily. If you try you will pass.
Bright is a solid Professor. I am an online student only and her Blackboard is organized and clear. Homework and Tests are all in MathXL and she provides Lecture videos and Lecture notes for each section. Only con is the dated lectures. All were recorded in 2013 with dated software, which kind of sucks. But I watch at 1.5x speed and manage.
Super sweet and reasonable professor. Criteria and schedule is clearly laid out and does not change. She is very open and clear about what she expects and is consistent. The homework and practice exams can be tedious, but they are very similar to the test. It pays off to study and be familiar with the practice exams. Good class overall!
Her lecture videos are really dated especially Chapter 2. The class struggle so much she didn't post the class average test grade. A lot of stuff that required to do for HW isn't in videos. I lost 3 days in accelerated class since she did not respond to email. In her online video, she only solves the easiest problems, good luck with the hards ones.
I really enjoyed taking this class. It was challenging at times but as long as you are consistent and work hard you will do great. I took her fast track class so it was a bit harder probably then the full length class. But overall she is a caring instructor and she wants you to do well.
Her lectures are very poorly edited. Videos were 1-1.5 hours long and we needed to watch 3-4 of then per week, but there was a lot of bad cuts where she redid the same problem over and over but never cut out the messed up footage, which was such a waste of time, even at 1.5x speed. She explained things just fine though.
I really enjoyed Professor Bright's course. I haven't taken math in about 4 years, and her class was relatively easy to jump back into. I took this course online. As long as you put the time in and work through the homework and examples on MyLabMath, then you will easily get a good grade.
If you have good reading comprehension skills then it will be easier. I referred back to her lectures a little. She clearly explains what needs to be done. Just don't be lazy, It's pre-cal it's already lengthy material. Really do not understand how she has any negative reviews.
I took this class online. Compared to aleks the website that she uses was more boring to look at, does not teach you the material like aleks, overall so boring. I am very good with math but with this class I just struggled to understand the material.
I was not too impressed with Mrs. Brights class. It was tough having to figure out some of the problems as you progressed in the course since most of what she taught during the third to last module where not easy to relate to the homework on mylab math. Her lecture videos are like 6 years old. Get ready to get tested in module 3, it was hard.
Don't take classes by this professor. Just don't. I'm dead serious. Do not take ANY classes by this professor.
Professor Bright is responsive and will help you. MyMath is configured to make it super-simple to get a good grade. Tests are straightforward and highly correlated to the practice tests. To get an A: Do the homework - that's an easy 100%. Do the practice exams. Create notes and put in evernote/onenote with screenshots.
A great professor to work with. The course work, notes, and videos are neatly organized for easy access for students. Easy to get a hold of if in need other as long as you email her during the hours that are posted. It is very important to stay on top of the assignments that are given. Getting behind is easy, so do not procrastinate.
To get a good grade in this class is easy as long as you put the work into it. It uses MathLab for homework and test. Every lesson comes with a video and class notes and unlimited attempts. Before every test there is a practice test with unlimited attempts and only the highest grade counts. She gave extra credit.
I struggled through this class. It was hard and I pretty much taught everything to myself through MyMathLab. Lectures are extremely long and would throw questions into the test that we didn't even do in the homework. Overall, just a really hard class to take.
Ms. Bright is a great teacher. Most of the blackboard material offered is aged but it works well. Mathlab is used for the online portion. Very clear communicator, available, and makes sure you know what resources there are available. Beware of Exam 3, highly recommend working ahead at the beginning to ensure you have plenty of study time on that.
I thought she was a great teacher! She respected everybody, was very understanding, and took the time to show students the answers. The first two quizzes came up really fast, though they were easy. She also grants extra credit on the scratch paper you use during exams which spared me lol. I would take her again
MyMathLab calhoun by professor Karen Bright help students build a strong foundation in math, while ProOnlineClass can provide additional support and practice. These resources can be especially helpful for students struggling with specific math concepts or who need extra practice to improve their skills and achieve success in their math courses.
Tons of homework and the lectures are from 2013 and are at least an hour and thirty minutes long EACH. The third module is the worst and most difficult to understand. Procrastination is going to be a huge enemy because falling behind will put you at a disadvantage. She does give extra credit which is the only thing I liked about her.
Professor Bright utilizes Pearson's MyMathLab, which is a great tool if you use it well. Her lectures are detailed and helpful, albeit long. When you email her for help she takes the time to help you understand each step of the process and provides additional resources. This is an easy class if you are self-driven and *do the practice tests*.
I took Professor Bright's course as a miniature semester. She organized the course material methodically, provided partial and extra credit, and navigated MyLab Math expertly. Her methodical approach made her course manageable and verily enjoyable.
if you are scared of math, take Mrs. Bright for every class you can. Her lectures are really close to the "required" homework, and the homework is really close to the test material. I would take every class Mrs. Bright taught, she is a fantastic instructor who is very available to help you with any questions.
KB is a great professor! She is very understanding if you need anything and her lectures are helpful. She provides lecture notes + plenty of opportunities to pass her class. She stays near the computer at the time of deadlines if you need her to respond quickly. There is a lot of homework but it is very helpful and extremely similar to the tests.
Mrs. Bright is very kind and super prompt with emails. She is very clear and concise when give feedback as well as when you need something explained. I would 100% take a class being instructed by her again.
Lecture vids are so old they were filmed on windows xp, The online textbook is glitchy and not made to be read. I reached out to ask for better texts, I was told to better manage my time and "it's important to recognize that one of the most common barriers to student success is one that is self-imposed" which was rude considering I have an A.
her lectures are extremely old and over an hour long! She takes forever to respond to emails. She is rude in the emails and does not give any extensions for personal matters. The class is extremely hard. I would not recommend her.
The work got hard at times but she taught it well! Ms Bright is very kind and caring, she does like when people interact with her during class and likes cameras on during lectures and of course tests. Allowed me to take my final early so I could go on a holiday trip!
Great teacher. This is my 2nd time having her as a professor. This time I took precal w/ algebra as a mini semester, she of course provided lecture videos and went in depth. She opens the tests a week early just incase you need/want them done sooner, all of the homework is open from the start date of the class until the due date.
