Nice teacher, easy-going. But not quite good at English~

She has a slight accent, but her english is perfect. She is also extrememly clear in her presentatation and enthusiastic about the subject matter. What more could you want from a math teacher?

I think she is very helpful and wants us to do the best we can. Sometimes her english complicates things and somtimes her notes are a bit confusing when she's rushed, but overall she really knows what she's talking about. Plus her website is amazing, so helpful and useful. I wish all teachers had a similar website.

1)Hard to follow; 2)Poor notes. She is very helpful if you go see her. Her tests are quite long there is a minute chance you will finish before class is over. She fumbles on her words, many spelling errors on her notes on the web makes me think she is careless. She stresses very important points (CLT, ER) but doesn't talk much about others.

Karen was awesome! She tries so hard to make the material understandable and she's so passionate about what she teaches that it makes it a lot easier to go to class and learn.

I think Karen is awesome! She knows her material and she does know how to explain it if u actually listen to her and attend ALL classes. She doesn't spell everything out for you, but at this level of education she shouldn't be expected to either. To me her notes did make sence, you just have to focus on them. Overall I give her thumbs up!!

She was the perfect teacher for this class. She taught like how i was used to being taught in highschool, which was awesome. She knew she wasn't perfect and did not mind being corrected. I actually enjoyed goign to her class. Her tests were long, but if you knew how to do the stuff, they were very manigable. Very helpful and caring

Dr. Buro is so excited about the subject. She is passionate and really throws herself into a very tough, dry course. She is very respectful towards the students but still gets and holds their attention with one serious look in their direction. She does not tolerate any nonsense and really strives to help you "get" stats.

Very good instructor. Lectures very well, friendly and approachable in office hours, and labs, assignments, and exams are well-made. But if you're not willing to put the work in, best not to take a class from her - she makes it clear she doesn't have much patience for the slackers in the class. For the rest of us, though, she's awesome.

Buro isn't the greatest teacher but she does know her stuff. Her notes are pretty unorganized and she rushes through them and half finishes the examples. I always read the textbook and never paid much attention in class to get through my homework assignments and still did really well.

I hate math, but she makes this class tolerable. I barely passed high school math, but am doing well in this class. She's a very approachable, nice lady. Will help anyone willing to put the effort in.

I was dreading this class and, while it's still not my favourite class, she knows what she's talking about and honestly loves it! You'll want to read your text book, though, because her notes can get clouded with half-finished examples. And I love the marking scheme! "As long as you get the gist of it, your calculations don't have to be perfect".

Buro is exactly as she presents herself. Everything you do in class is on the exam, she is straightforward, sometimes funny, but she is teaching a super dry course and she does quite a good job. Willing to do the work? You'll get a good mark. Slack off and the exams are murder.

Karen writes her notes all over the board in class, so it's best to also look at her online notes as well. Her notes and assignments reflect what will be on the exam. When she does an example, she will sometimes hint to you whether that example will be on the exam. She's really approachable and funny.

A very good instructor who knows what she is talking about. Can sometimes be hard to understand but does keep you interested enough to make it through a very boring course.

I thought Karen was one of the best profs ever! She's really helpful outside of class and makes stats fun to learn. However it requires hard work from you, you cant ace stats because you have a great teacher. If you do the assignments you'll find the class much easier.

Everything I learned in Stat 222, I learned from Karen's labs. Take her class if you possibly can.

Very good prof. Her lectures cover the material well, and she makes it clear what she expects. The exams are fair, and are a combination of theory and computation type questions. The assignments are easy, but some of them are time consuming, so don't leave them till the last minute. Overall a very nice, helpful instructor. Highly recommended.

She is a great prof, clear notes that actually make the assignments easy. The assignments are long but not hard so just dot leave till the last minute. She does a good job of making a dry course bearable, she is kind of funny and you can really tell she loves stats

Nice outgoing lady. Knows her stuff well. Make sure you do your assignments and other questions in the textbook that are not part of assignments just for practice sake. I'd recommend her.

Her first priority is the success of the students and she welcomes questions in class and outside as well. She is fair, funny to listen to sometimes with her old jokes, and repeats the important details over and over again. Don't leave the homework till last minuet because some of them are time consuming. She makes statistics fun.

What a fun one lol. Comes in and greets the class everyday and is always cheerful. I actually like her accent too. Exams however I found were a bit on the tougher side, and not very lenient on the marking....but she definately knows her stuff. Would def. recommend

I think that she's an awesome teacher. She takes a class that has potential to be very dull and injects it with her quirks and humor. Yeah, the tests are long, but if you study, it gives you more of a chance to prove yourself. Her notes do conflict with the text, but she only tests you on what's in her notes. I would definitely recommend her!!

she was great, thats all i can say. She made the most boring class bearable and her notes which are posted on her website are very very good. Her midterm was very long, but i didn't find the final as long. Just study her notes and do the assignments and you will be fine. i would recommend her to anyone

assignments are too time-consuming; midterms are way too long; but as an instructor, she is amazing and definitely knows how to teach stats. shes willing to answer questions and does her best to help students understand. I'd recommend her regardless of her looongg assignments and midterm.

Karen is a very good instructor. Be prepared to spend a very long time on the weekly assignments. The midterm and final are fair but on the difficult side. You are lucky to have this instructor for stats but prepare yourself to dedicate the semester to doing stats!

Dr. Buro, is very helpful. She is a very hard instructor, and expects a lot out of her students. This is a very heavy course, but she is always their to help. Assignments are very time consuming, and exams are challenging and lengthy, as long as you do what she says and do lots of practice questions and the sample exams you should be fine

Karen is the best prof I've ever had. Stats is a lot of work, however she will go above and beyond to help you. Amazing lady, great teacher, great helper. Would recommend her to any one! I wish all prof's were this amazing!

Definitely my favourite math teacher. Stats is so easy with her! Anyone who complains that her assignments are too much have obviously never taken a real science course! Just suck it up and do the work and go to lecture and you'll do great!

Prof Buro is another great professor. She teaches so well that the material would stuck in your mind. Her notes are good, she spends a lot of time on examples which do help the students. Her exams were fair and she gives hints. She will make you remember important concepts which I found really helpful. Definitely recommended for Stats151/141

Karen is the sweetest prof ever. She cares for the success of her students. Her class averages are higher than all the other sections(with regards to exams.) Karen does her lecture fast, but at a rate that is still understandable. I would take her class again. I recommend her class to everyone that wants to succeed in stats

Büro was a great stats teacher, would highly recommend her ! She has weekly assignments but they are so helpful if you actually do them, and she will help if you have any questions.

Buro is really helpful and understanding. she cares about her students and wants them to do well. doing the homework is pretty important. id recommend her

She's the most amazing teacher ever. If you match how much she puts into teaching you with the assignments and studying - you'll do just as great as she teaches. It's true, assignments are time-consuming and the midterm was brutal, (final too kind of) but it's well worth it. Effort is needed 110%.

Awesome prof, for someone teaching something as dry as statistics she puts a lot of enthusiasm into it, you can tell she really loves the subject matter and wants her students to do well. Midterm and final resemble assignment questions and examples given in class, so if you do your work you'll do great in the class

Dr. Buro was an passionate and incredible prof. Her notes are immaculate, and are available online. She reviews major concepts and provides detailed examples. Weekly assignments are very useful. Tests are very fair - do lots of practice problems. She will go out of her way to help you understand concepts. AMAZING, brilliant lady.

Awesome prof! Karen always puts such enthusiasm into the course throughout the year and keeps you highly interested in the course. She does everything she can for her students and brings out the best in them. Lectures help out a lot to learn stats and makes it seem super easy! You wont regret having her as your prof!

I was terrified to take stats, i am not a math person.. but she was great!! It is a difficult course to keep up with, and you have to dedicate a lot of time to this course. But her classes were good, I understood everything she was talking about, very clear about what was demanded of you as a student in her class. Best stats prof at gmac.

An amazing, organized and dedicated professor. Her wit and wisdom are so refreshing and she works so hard to bring relevant examples from various disciplines into the lectures. Advanced Stats is hard and you will need to put in a great deal of work for a decent mark but this is the best professor to have as she is so skilled!

She truly is an amazing teacher, exams were based off her notes, always very informative and helpful. Make sure to do the weekly assignments as these will effectively prepare you for the tests.

Amazing professor! She will be there for any student most anytime, even outside of office hours. She is ALL about the success of the student. Be prepared to work though. The concepts she teaches can be cumbersome. With dedication on your part and good time management you will do well.

Karen was the highlight of my semester. First class of every day was stats, and I am NOT a math person. Regardless, her lectures were clear and she is very willing to help outside of class. If you don't have the textbook, she will let you borrow hers (since weekly assignments are taken entirely from textbook questions). Helpful and kind.

Karen is such an amazing professor! The course load is heavy with weekly assignments and labs. However, she is so eager to help and truly just wants her students to succeed. I cannot say enough great things about this prof, Stat 161 is a must take for an social science majors!

We were the first class ever to take STAT161 in Fall 2015, and Karen did as best as she could. There is a lot of material, and she definitely makes you work for it. There was homework every week, and labs due every two weeks, but it helped you learn the material, and Karen was readily available and always willing to help. She's amazing!

I really liked Karen as a professor. I am not good at stats but she really encouraged me and helped me get through it. Attendance is definitely necessary! But she is enthusiastic so her classes are not dry! I would recommend!

I honestly did not really like her teaching style I found it a little confusing, so I rarely went to class. However, if you read her online notes you will do just fine. She doesn't really care if you get the math right as long as you can show you know how to do it so it made her exams easy. Doesn't post grades on blackboard which was annoying.

She generally goes pretty fast in lectures, so you have to work hard to understand, and it definitely helps to show up. But if you study a bit for the finals they are super easy. She likes to put questions asking what numbers mean rather than actually doing the calculations. Got a 99 on our midterm and 83 on the final. Would definitely take again!

I love Karen! She teaches statistics in an engaging and clear way. She is always accessible to her students and is generous with adjusting grades if need be. She is passionate about statistics and it shows! Almost made me passionate, too! But that would take a miracle.

It was a treat to have Karen before she retired. She really went above and beyond to ensure you could succeed in her class. She would often stop to walk us through a tough topic once or twice more, using different examples or language if we were struggling, but would never make you feel stupid in the process. Absolutely lovely woman.
