Persecution and Toleration in Early Modern Europe. The discussion was great, she valued our opinions, most of the reading was really interesting, come out of it with a great library on the subject. Great class, great teacher- she was helpful, open-minded, challenging. It also only had 5 people in it. It was awesome.

Very good teacher. You learn alot about France but she is still fun because she still loves her job. I would recommend to anyone especially History majors.
She was a good teacher. The lectures were interesting and you know exactly what is on the test (IDs and essays). I enjoyed this class and definetly recommend it. There is a lot of outside reading, but it's not bad.
This teacher is really rude. She is disrespectful and not at all what I would expect from a BYU professor. Avoid taking a class from her like you would a plague!
I found the papers hard and the class makes you think a lot by I think that is good. Dr. Carter is awesome and a fantastic teacher. She loves what she teaches and you can tell from her lectures. I would definitely recommend taking a class from her.
Dr. Carter is an Amazing teacher. She is more than willing to meet on a personal basis and help with any concerns. There is a lot of reading, but the books are really interesting. She lectures for class, but has open class discussions once a week. I would highly recommend her as a professor, she really is young, and really knows her stuff.
Dr. Carter is such a great teacher. Even though this class is automatically a drag, she was very helpful with my paper. I liked her so much, I have had her for 2 other classes.
Dr. Carter is one of the best professors on campus. She is organized, cutting-edge and refreshing. She occasionally provides relevant humor and anecdotes to class and it works well. She integrates the most current historical thought into her courses. Oh and that comment about hist202 below is a fake because Dr. Carter has never taught 202.
History is not my strong point nor am I very interested in the subject, but I actually enjoyed this class. The 2 papers are only 3 pages, but Dr Carter expects high quality. Go to class, do the assigned readings, spend time on the papers and you will get a good grade.
Reading assignments and papers are a pain, quizzes are an attendance and reading grade. If you attend every class, and do your reading, then not too hard, but make sure you set aside the time to do EVERYTHING assigned.
Dr. Carter is great. I really enjoyed her teaching style and she impressed me with how much she knew about world history. The reading assignments helped me learn, although they were sometimes dull. Papers are short but need to be high quality. Tests are difficult if you don't take notes. I missed a few quizzes and it hurt my grade so go to class.
Midterm and Final almost all from lecture. If you take good class notes and study them well you will do great. Three papers:I got my best grade on the last one and basicaly I found a book that would be easy to argue against, but the other two assignments are hard and require high quality four to five page reports. TA's grade everything.Good teacher
The greatest history professor I've had at BYU. Knows what she's talking about and--more importantly--helps you know understand she's talking about too. Funny when appropriate and always willing to help a student who's equally willing to help themselves. Fantastic professor. I felt very comfortable in her classroom.
Dr. Carter is pretty great. A little unpredictable with the grading. There was an assignment that I thought I did well and she gave me a low grade. Then there were a couple other assignments which I thought I did horribly and she gave me A's. Otherwise, she's quite good.
Such a good teacher. She really knows history and can make it interesting. She helps you to understand rather than just memorize facts.
I never got bored in her class and the atmosphere was very friendly with questions and comments.HOWEVER, She is hostile to those already know a ton about history. When asked about exceptions in history she just says, "well sometimes" or "maybe" and nothing more. She also devotes way to much time to feminism which never changed until the 1920's
Our personalities didn't fit well, but she is a good professor for many people.
I would not take this class. She feels a B is for great work and that A's are only for unbelievable quality. Also has a preference for girls. Pass on this one.
She is fantastic, I'd recommend her in a heartbeat. I don't know why people say she's biased against guys, I got an A in the class just fine, and never lower than a B+ on a paper.
She is the only hist prof I've had at BYU so it's hard to say how she compares. She doesn't give a lot of A's because the dept is strict about keeping class averages down. You CAN'T miss class because she doesn't post her slides online (needed big time for tests). But the subject is interesting and I learned a lot. Easy A? No. Easy B? Yes.
One of the most boring classes I have had, and I am a history major. Did not go in chronological order-liked to jump around between areas of the world. The tests were extremely difficult as she expected you to know EVERYTHING from the book and the lectures, and asked lots of 'all of the following except' questions.
Dr. Carter is a great professor. Attending class is absolutely mandatory but if you go and take good notes you will do well in the class. Lots of reading but most of it was very interesting. I would highly recommend her!
She is one of the greatest history professors I have taken. Her class is ideal for learning how to be a good historian and how to do well in your other history classes.
Excellent professor. This class was much more interesting and helpful than I expected. I would recommend her.
The class was difficult, but history isn't my favorite subject, and I did enjoy the material. Sometimes her grading procedures are difficult to understand. But she was very helpful when I had extenuating circumstances. Her class is challenging, but very informative and her lectures are interesting.
She's very intense and focused on her subject matter. I came into class once, on time, and she had already started into her lecture. There is a lot of work for a 200-level GE class, but it was worth it to me because I was able to learn a LOT about history that I didn't know.
I took this class Spring semester. Yikes! It was rough! I've never had to memorize so many dates and random events. I'm generally a hard working straight A student, but this class was difficult. I felt like the tests asked about the most random things in the book. Lectures were so boring. Im sure it's a littlebetter in the winter or fall. Nice lady
Class was enjoyable. She does seem a little stand off-ish. If you just talk to her though, she's pretty decent. LOTS of reading and she grades pretty hard on papers and tests. Do the early papers! Probably wouldn't take it from her if I had a choice. Really interesting class though, just wish I had more time to put into it.
Do NOT procrastinate the reading. There are no reading check quizzes or anything like that so it's all on you. She doesn't post lecture slides online so you HAVE to be in class to get the info that isn't in the book. Doesn't grade attendance but lectures are a must. Not a lot of guidance on the essays. Overall, she's intense but a quality teacher.
Really enjoyed the class, great teacher. Does a great job of illuminating your understanding history beyond what you might already know. In class reading quizzes are supper easy if you do the reading, and are passfail. Mid term and final were not too bad either. Also has a good sense of humor.
Yes this was not an easy class, we had a lot of reading to do and papers to write. But this is college people! if you want to learn, you have to put effort in it! Pr Carter is great, her lectures are really interesting and she knows a lot! You will learn a great deal in this class.
she is really funny and while i have not yet finished the class her tests haven been super easy just follow her study guide although she grades papers really hard ! I love the books we have to read but DO NOT procrastinate or miss class because her tests are very class based
I can't recommend her highly enough. I loved this class, probably my favorite all semester. She lectures very very well, note taking is made a lot easier because she is SO organized. Would take this class again, awesome experience. Makes you think. Good teaching style, helps you see the broader picture. Take a class from her if at all possible.
Dr Carter is an awesome teacher! You will need to study a lot but she makes the topic interesting so it's a lot easier. She makes an effort to memorize the names of all of her students and she really cares that her students learn. Her lectures are super interesting, but you must go because a ton of crucial info is only in the lectures.
Dr. Carter is a great lecturer. Going to her lectures is not only essential to get an A, but they're quite enjoyable because she finds something funny about any historical topic. Her quizzes are hard-ish, but it's clear what you'll be tested on. Reading. Reading. Reading. Reading quizzes. And a few medium-sized papers. Wonderful class. Not too hard
Dr Carter will definitely help you learn because she doesn't teach in a way to make you memorize, but to understand. But beware, she is also really harsh with grading and is very cold and has no mercy for students. You might deserve and A but she will mark you down to keep class averages low. Be careful before taking this class from her
She was a great professor, but takes a bit of getting used to.
Professor Carter was a great History teacher for World Civilization to 1500! She is tough, but always fair. You definitely have to work for your grade in the class. She is SUPER helpful if you go see her during her office hours, to check wrong answers from tests and feedback for essays. I'd take another History class from her!
This professor lacks professionalism and does not adhere to their own instructions in their syllabus / assignment directions. I would never recommend taking a class of theirs. The lack of communication and response was abysmal. The professor only responded to student inquiry after having to contact BYU support and was prompted by them to respond.
I almost dropped her class after the first day because she comes of a little harsh at first. I am SO glad I didn't drop her class; I ended up loving it. She is a brilliant lecturer, super organized, funny, and you know what is expected. You cannot miss class and you need to take good notes. She requires a lot of reading and papers on what you read
Dr. Carter really cares about her students and it shows. She takes the time to hand-grade assignments and learns every student's name, even in a lecture of 150+ students. Her lectures were interesting and she threw good jokes in. Wouldn't take the class again because of the subject but if I had to I would take Dr. Carter in a heartbeat.
Dr. Carter is the best history teacher I have had at BYU. She used to be a high school teacher, and that carries over into her work at a university level. Her lectures are easy to follow, it's really not too much work (unless you COMPLETELY slack off). Tests aren't hard. I crammed for like 3 hours the day before the tests & got A's on them all.
Save yourself and your GPA and DON'T take this class from Professor Carter. She may be the worst professor at BYU. Not only are her tests absolute garbage, but her grading is completely subjective. Tests are completely random facts that you won't remember. And essays are graded tougher than any writing class you've ever taken. Absolutely horrible.
Her lectures are extremely boring and don't ever translate over onto tests. She will not post powerpoint slides anywhere, and if you miss class there is no help for you unless you have good classmates. She grades papers as if they are getting published in professional journals. If you know what to do, you can fake it through almost the whole class.
She expects you to read upwards of 1,000 page books that are nothing you will remember beyond the assignment for it. There are digital discussions in which you engage with other students about a question that are easy to fake and pass, but are totally subjective to whether she thinks you did well enough. Horrible class, worse professor.
Professor Carter is a great professor but a tough grader. The midterm paper is pass/fail but she grades pretty harsh on the other papers. Be ready to read for the online discussions (1 1000+ page book, 2 small ones). If you go to class and take good notes, you will do fine on the tests. There are 4 tests and your lowest score drops. Great class.
Professor Carter has super interesting lectures, though they can be kind of fast paced. She doesn't post her powerpoints, so you have to come to class or have someone get notes for you. The tests are easy if you use her study guide. The hardest part is the primary source paper, but if you keep up with the reading and start early you'll be fine.
Okay, everyone needs to relax about Dr. Carter. She does not make you read anywhere close to a thousand pages, its a very manageable amount. Her tests are super straightforward IF you pay attention and follow the study guide. And writing papers is a part of life so grow up. Dr. Carter is a great professor.
Dr. Carter is a very good professor. She broke up the usual big paper into smaller papers and gave choices so it felt really manageable. There was a lot of reading but it was appropriate for the class. Provided very clear study guides for tests and clear rubrics for the papers. She broke up lectures with class discussions that were interesting.
THIS CLASS SUCKS. Don't take it, or at least don't take it from Karen Carter. You have an outside novel to read weekly, then you have to write a reading response AND paper. She doesn't even follow her own grading criteria. The paper that I wrote in an hour got an A and the paper that I spent two days on wasn't good enough for her. HATE HER.
She is definitely a likeable professor and is personable. Connects with the class and knows what she's talking about. Attending isn't mandatory but she doesn't post lecture slides so I would recommend going. She is a TOUGH paper grader though. Never gotten so low on a paper in my life. Tests aren't too difficult but you do have to study.
If you take good notes on the lectures, you will do fine in the class!! Her tests are easy, especially bc she gives a super good test review sheet. You do read quite a bit but you can get by with skim reading bc you only respond to 4 questions. You write 3 essays and she grades harder for those but your grade works out in the end bc tests are easy!
I was weary at first, but quickly realized that Dr. Carter is a really funny, caring professor who truly enjoys what she teaches. I have had a great time in her class this semester, and learned a lot. This is a reading-heavy class, and I can't say that I always had time to read the textbook, but the individual books were fascinating. Recommended.
Dr. Carter is a pretty good lecturer, but sometimes its easy to zone out. She says the tests are based on the book and the lectures, but its only really the lectures. You read a ton and write a ton on those books, but if you can write a pretty good paper they wont hurt your grade. Plus 5 of the 12 papers are dropped from your grade.
Dr Carter is very smart and fun and she really cares about her students. I learned a lot in her class and would highly recommend it. It is a hard class to miss because most of the test material comes from lectures and she doesn't post her slides online. Overall she's a great professor.
Dr. Carter was a great teacher. Everything is on Canvas so the expectations and what you need to do in class is outlined on the first day. As long as you space yourself out well and stay on top of your work you'll do well. It wasn't an easy A but if you do the work and put in your best effort you'll do fine.
Took this class online and was disappointed to find out there was no way to contact her. The lectures are good but some of the outside readings are a waste of time and she definitely grades papers harder than an English teacher. She posts a study guide for the tests but then asks questions not covered in the guide or in class. Very frustrating.
Dr. Carter is the single most condescending person I've ever taken a class from. She is inconsistent with her grading style and grades based on her own personal feelings rather than any grading criteria. Her feedback/comments are given with attitude. Don't take her class.
Read the textbook and go to lecture. Really clear expectations. Easy exams. Drops one test--if you do well on the midterms she waves the final. Respectful. Take interest in the content and ask questions--you will be golden.
The absolute single worst professor at BYU by far. It's not even a contest. She is condescending, rude, and has the mentality that her class should be the most important thing in your life and if you don't treat it like it is then you will fail. She's also not very invested in teaching and doesn't really care about her students.
Dr. Carter's class is much better than what I expected after reading her ratings. She does give quite a few assignments but gives very thorough feedback on each one which is rare from a professor. Exams are VERY straightforward. She's quick to answer emails and allowed me a few extensions due to the COVID 19 situation, with no problems at all.
Dude, I loved Dr. Carter! She is SO straightforward with assignments and tests, I never had any questions for what she wanted. It's a very plain schedule, 1-2 assignments per week that took maybe 1 hour, and about 4-5 tests, with lots of quizlets. She gives great feedback, and she even boosted my final grade without me asking! Take this class!!!
Content wise, I loved this class. It was interesting and I actually enjoyed reading the textbook. As far as Prof Carter she does not give clear directions. She will ask open ended questions and you have to guess what she wants you to put. You could get the question right but if you don't write the specific thing she wants you don't get full credit.
I took HIST 201 through BYU Independent Study. She was a good and fair grader on the quizzes and tests, and the grade I got was largely because I didn't study enough. However, she is a very tough grader on papers.
I took HST 201 online from professor Carter during summer term and I had a great experience. There is homework that is due every week and you have to stay on top it. professor Carter gives great lectures and the structure of her online class makes learning easy. lastly, she is brilliant and knows how to make history fun to learn.
Professor Carter is great! She's very straightforward so you know exactly what to expect. She also grades quickly and always gives feedback, which I really appreciate. If you follow the study guide when you take notes and use it to study for the test, you'll do fine.
Dr. Carter is awesome. Drops your lowest test grade and the lowest 5 of your weekly assignments, and is willing to bump up your grade at the end of the course if you're right in between. If you complete the study guide thoroughly and know it well, you'll get high As on the tests
Ok, this was my first online class and I was intimidated by some reviews here. This class was a breeze. There was more non-textbook reading than I would have liked, but it's a history class. The textbook reading was really manageable and not bad. There is one big essay at the end, but normal coursework takes like 1-2 hours a week.
Taken two classes from Dr. Carter and would send anyone her way. She's nice, helpful, and her class is set up in a very straightforward manner. You will work, of course. But it's nothing unreasonable. I should also say she was very lenient and understanding given the challenges of the pandemic.
This was my first class taken from Dr. Carter. She's helpful, understanding, and wants you to succeed. You do have to do the work to do well in the class, but it's nothing unreasonable. Her study guides are straightforward, and if you use them in conjunction with the reading, you will do well. 100% would take a class from her again.
Definitely wants you to succeed. Lots of short essays. On-demand class so not much interaction but she was very responsive and understanding when I did approach her. No TA but still excellent. Fair and honest. Her big essay was hard but doable. Easy to do well w/ some effort. Unique and interesting perspectives.
I LOVE DR. CARTER! She was super understanding when I had personal issues, and does a great job of making material applicable. It is a lot of reading, but she warns you about it before taking the class and it is the baseline for the university requirement for History classes. I highly recommend her class, she is a great teacher and super caring!
Least favorite class this year, very boring. Honestly watching her lectures and reading the online portions was way more important than reading the textbook. The tests are annoying since there's so much info but USE THE STUDY GUIDES! 2 modules per week (with reading and writing assignments) several tests, 6pg paper on 400pgs of reading.
I love Dr. Carter! This class was so organized and you new exactly what you needed to do to get an A. Im definitely not a history person, but this was so manageable. Feel in the study guides as you go, and you can get an A on the tests. Took me about 3 hours of work a week. Take this class from Carter!
great lady but not gonna lie, when it came to grading papers she was really tough. I normally get solid A's on papers in other history classes, but she is really particular with the way she wants things written. alot of reading and writing (couple of books throughout the semester) and papers is all youre graded on. be a good writer.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was the worst class I took at BYU. She is ruthless with grading and will dock you for every tiny thing. There is TONS of reading, TONS of reading responses, and don't EVER count on getting full points. 100% DO NOT recommend taking this class with her.
Professor Carter gives way to much homework and is merciless as a grader. You will easily spend twice as much time on reading and assignments on this class on any other. Further more, her lectures are super dry. Interesting content delivered poorly isn't interesting. Ridiculously high expectations. Sorry, but not all of us are PhD candidates!
Very knowledgeable about France, but can be a hard grader.
Professor carter is awesome. She gives great feedback on every test that we take and is very willing to help you be better. I took the online on-demand course and it does require a lot of reading. If you do the reading you will do just great.
Took this class as a GE and she is literally one of the worst professors at BYU. There are many other professors that want you to succeed, but she is not one of them. Ruthless grader especially on papers and makes tests extremely difficult cause she has nothing better to do. Do not take this course from her!!!!
Lots of uninteresting readings. I got through the class by mainly referring to her lectures and re-watching them before exams which helped. If you're looking for an easy A this is not it. If you are very motivated this class will not be bad but the subject matter is boring and her lectures sound like she is reading an essay. Tough grader.
Carter was really great. I love history, so this class was fun for me, but even if you dont like history, this class is super manageable and fun. Most of the grades come from exams and blog posts. There's a term paper due at the end of the semester (only about 5 pages) but if you procrastinate on it, you will be fine. Its not a super tough one.
This class was rough for a GE. SOO much reading and Prof Carter's lectures were just straight up boring. Very hard to pay attention and retain the information. Her class structure is easy to understand and straightforward but the amount of information required to have memorized for each test is a lot, and she is a very harsh grader.
This professor and class requires an immense amount of work and reading to barely receive a B. The toughest grader I've had at BYU and does not give A's. I'd suggest taking World Civ in person and not online with this professor, everyone in person enjoyed this class a lot more.
I took the on-demand version but I assume her philosophy is the same-- even though this is a history class she is there to teach you how to write. She is very picky about your style of writing and doesn't explain what she is looking for. Also, the history department requires atleast 1000 pages of assigned reading for a 200 level class....
Professor Carter is NOT a professor you want to take a class with. She grades very specifically and is picky about your answers. Doesn't give good feedback, or offer help if you are struggling with the material, expects you to know it 100%. Tests are SO difficult and have 50+ terms to memorize with no word bank.
LOOOTS of reading, plus going to the lectures is vital. Tests aren't the worst, but the essays are. There's two very big ones at the end of the semester which kinda blows because it's just at the end and not throughout. She's pretty funny and appreciates feedback and students' opinions.
This class was online but it was so organized and totally manageable! She made it interesting and easy to understand. Her tests were not easy enough to do without studying, but doable with studying. She is the best!!
Pretty good. She's very personable, engaging and a great lecturer. Cares about students and is passionate about history. Class is very organized. Grades pretty harsh on the 3 essays, less so on the 3 exams, but some of her essay prompts weren't great. No extra cred, though you can re-do 1 essay. If writing isn't your strength, don't take her class.
Took HIST 201 online. This class has a lot, and I mean a lot, of reading to do. It was however very organized, and the due dates were consistent along with the work for each lesson. Professor responded to emails pretty quickly which is aways great.
Professor Carter is really nice when you get to know her but this class is a killer. She grades hard and expects a lot out of the students. The tests and papers are hardcore and you have to fight for a good grade. Obviously Hist 250 is mandatory for a lot of things but when it comes to any other history classes I would look elsewhere.
She gives good feedback and gets assignments and tests back very quickly. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students and the subject. There's only 1 big (5 page) paper, and weekly assignments are short write-ups or discussions. 4 exams total, but open-book, open-note, but don't underestimate them.
Professor Carter actually cares about students walking away with genuine real world knowledge and not just information that they could regurgitate for a test and then dump later. She expects higher level thinking, is well organized, incredibly respectful and supportive. Heads up, I clocked about 24 hours of homework per week (mostly reading).
This class was demanding. I am a fast reader and still found myself reading for 3 hours a day. The tests are easy if you take good notes and use the study guide. Dr. Carter expects a lot and will nitpick your writing on every assignment. I worked full time while taking the class and would not recommend that others do the same.
I took it online summer term as a freshman. So much reading especially in summer, open note tests though. there are a lot of assignments but they are not too long or hard. The tests are not bad either. Professor Carter always responded to questions and gave great feedback. I feel like she isn't as harsh of a grader as the other reviews saw she is.
Professor Carter expects us to be high performing adults and think critically. I was able to finish the class in a little over a month. I loved what I learned. Her and her TA graded everything lightning fast. The class is so well structured. Professor Carter has organized everything so well so we can know what is expected and excel. I LOVED class!
The tests are open note, so take good notes! There are two modules per week, and each module consists of readings and a discussion board or response paper. Prof. Carter allowed extensions which was so helpful. She provides feedback on EVERY assignment. Take this course if you need a GE credit!
Unless you love History, I would not recommend taking this class from Professor Carter!! The lectures are so boring, and she is a very harsh grader. She'll hit you with "can you be more specific" on almost every question, it's basically impossible to be specific enough for this lady. Take this class from someone else !!!
There is A TON of reading. You will have one discussion board, and one written assignment each week, and you will need to provide VERY specific examples from all of your reading. She doesn't ever give uplifting feedback, so don't take it personally and remember she's not attacking you. I really liked the test format, its open note tests:)
She is IMPOSSIBLE. She is an extremally tough grader, and if she disagrees with your opinion or if you analyze the material further than she intended, you will be docked points. Tests are fact heavy, but you are allowed a page of notes. There is also so much reading required, but if you read more than what she assigned, she'll dock you points.
Do not take this class, Warning you she is the most nit picky profesor I have ever had. Very mean on the grading. All test free response with little time. Final paper has to meet the critera of a master or phd paper to get an A. She is power hungry and will take points away from you anytime possible. An abysmal teacher does not care forstudents
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She already has a pre-determined grade for you no matter how much work you put into a paper. The pop quizzes should are set to make you fail. As for the final, she told us that she didn't have anything prepared yet. We had no study guide, and were left with going through the last half of the book. HORRIBLE.
Dr. Carter is a good professor in the sense that she knows what she is talking about and she structures the course well. On the other hand, she is a very harsh grader and although it will help you in the long run, you essentially never receive positive feedback and will never get 100% on an assignment. The readings are interesting but there's a lot
I really enjoyed Dr. Carter and her online class. Her lecture videos are to the point and she adds great insight and connects historical concepts to modern time. She has strict requirements but they are clear and not difficult to abide by. Lots of reading but it is all interesting.
Honestly, I don't get why she has as many positive reviews as she does, when I took this class she was an incredibly harsh grader, she didn't prepare you well for her tests, and a response she gave for her to just take off points when you answer her questions with general answers because it was a general question was always, "Anything else?"
Pretty straightforward course. She can be a tough grader sometimes, but as long as you follow her instructions, you'll do fine. She drops 6 assignments and one exam. Fill out the study guides as you go through the course, and you can use them during all four of the exams. There's also one 5-page paper due at the end of the semester.
Ultimate definition of 'skip class, won't pass.' Slides are not posted anywhere after the lecture. There is also a LOT of reading to do for the class. If you are enthusiastic about history you should be fine. She grades essays like the devil, but the lowest one is dropped. If you're prepared for it and do the work, you should be fine.
Do not take classes from Dr. Carter! She is an extremely harsh grader and often left degrading comments on my assignments. Constructive criticism is one thing, but her comments are something else. She expects way too much for a GE class. The content itself is interesting, but take this class from anyone else!
She is what her name is, a Karen. Extremely harsh grader, not forgiving. Soooo much reading, she is seriously something else. Take literally any other teacher and they will be better than her.
The ratings are hard on Dr. Carter, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took her class. I didn't get any of the "harsh grading" - she just expects effort. This class was time-consuming but not difficult. Take notes similar to her examples and the exams are a breeze. I think about the world in a whole new way now - Dr. Carter is wonderful!
Despite the negative reviews, I never felt she was unreasonable in her grading. The exams come straight from the study guide and are open-note. She drops four assignments and one of the exams. There is a LOT of reading, but if you're like me and don't love history or memorization, but CAN take good notes, you'll do well in this class.
Hardest GE class I've ever taken. I'm used to putting effort and time into classes, but this class took it to another level. I spent so much time keeping up with the class I never had free time. Despite my efforts, I would hardly get full credit on assignments and feedback was vague and not constructive. It was much harder than it needed to be.
HIST201 with Dr. Carter is a challenging but rewarding course. She is a tough grader, but provides valuable feedback. Utilizing resources like the textbook and unstuck study can help manage the workload. Overall, an engaging class for history buffs.
