Lecture was only useful for what she emphasizes as important, only learned from going over powerpoint and textbook by myself or with others, lab is worth more than lecture so go to open labs it will help immensely and do all possible extra credit, you CAN get a B or even an A.
the bad thing about this class is that she isn't very clear at explaining things. formation of urin was a critical thing to understand but it was one thing she definitely did not know how to explain. also, i found her review sheets to be useless because she expects you to know EVERYTHING, when her test questions are SO SPECIFIC.
took this class her first semester at state. last minute for her to teach so it was difficult for both her and students. knows her stuff. my suggestion, STUDY from the beginning.always go to her office if needed. record her lectures, they're helpful.
Class was hard, but she was fair. If you don't know the info, you won't do well. SG helped, but you need to know how to APPLY the info. Her ?'s are clear, but specific. Not hard IF you study. Lab is 60%, so go to ALL OPEN LABS. She can only do so much with 250 students, but super helpful in office. Do ALL EC offered, and study. You'll get the grade
This class is intense no matter who's teaching it but at least she isn't the antichrist like Debban. If u can't get in at a jc, I definitely recommend u takin it with chooljian. Take advantage of the e.c. Very nice lady and although she may be a little unclear in class, she is very helpful. She knows what its like to be a student.
THIS class is very difficult no matter what professor you take. Mrs. Choolijan is very awesome all the way around and she works very hard and knows her stuff. You better work hard or you will sink. I recommend her class because she taught me to breathe and I feel very prepared for the medical fieldShe is a great remodel and inspiration=)
Karen is a fantastic teacher! I had her for bio 65 as well. Biology is a hard topic in general, especially when it comes to anatomy and physiology. Your grade does reflect on how much time and effort you put in. She is also very generous and does not trick you with her questions! Study and read the book, and you will be fine!
Very approachable. Definitely knows her stuff. She's a nurse by trade and married to a doctor so most of the information is clinically based. Lab is most of your grade so get a good lab TA possible Chooljian
HARD class, but VERY possible to get a B or even an A. there is 100 points in extra credit, and curbs on most tests. I had her in anatomy and phys, she is a nice person, and very helpful in office hours, willing to help student out when they are having trouble, just study a lot, go over book, notes, record the lectures,go to SI, you CAN get an A!
The worst teacher I have every had. Rude/mean to students. Isn't approachable, even during office hours. Doesn't care about anyones opinions or thoughts. I have a 69.9...and she won't round me up to C. This is a hard class regardless of who teaches it, but she is a god awful horrible teacher. I would have passed if it wasn't for her.
She's very knowledgeable and helpful. You must put in the work to learn the material. Tests are fair, I RECOMMEND study groups!! Attend all meetings if possible to stay updated. Read book before class and study after. Also do Mastering A&P it helps and she gives EC for it that will def. help! I passed every test w/ B, got an 89.95%=B :(
Did not take credit for teaching at all...expects you to know material prior to class; only had tests and EC, average of all exams=grade...
Her lectures did not help me learn the material at all.
Study the power points, and you'll do well. Multiple choice exams- 50 questions. Some questions are poorly written- english department needed. Going to lectures never helped- rather study power points and google what you don't understand. Would NOT recommend- her pride is irritating
Giving a whole bunch of extra credit and curving the exams to help students pass is not the DEAL! She'll use that as an excuse as to why your 79.99 is a C, because she helped you get there with all the extra credits. She crams everything in last minute and expects you to know it for the exams. She just reads her notes&never takes time to explain.
Although I did receive a good grade in this class it was not because of the professor. I went to SI and made sure to do all the extra credit I could to help. This professor is horrible. She doesn't explain anything, crams in lessons and is confusing on exactly what she wants you to know. Avoid taking her!!,
Class is definitely one of the hardest classes at state. Take this class extremely seriously. Study everyday..and dont think you wont use material again. (Use a study group/flashcards dont really help). 3.0 student and i think i can get a B or A. Do the online extra credit hw, helps out for end grade and helps you study for exams.
Getting a good grade is very possible because of the extra credits and curves. Make sure to exert a lot of effort on this class and make sure you really really understand the material for the tests. Honestly SI was more helpful than her lectures. She knows her stuff but doesnt fully explain it in lecture.
This class is very difficult, however if you are serious about this class and put in the time to study, you should do extremely well. If you do not put the time in, you will not do well in this class. Her grading is fair, and she is very helpful if you go to her office hours.
This class is hard so be prepared to work. There is a lot to memorize but she does a good job with lectures and labs. If you put in a ton of time it is possible to do well. You just MUST be prepared to sleep breathe and eat anatomy for the entire semester. Could have worked a little harder and I got a high B.
She is knowledgable, but physiology is very conceptual & hard to grasp. You must put in the time to do well in this course, do not take any rough classes with this; or you'll die. This class will easily overwhelm you, & frustrate you. Lectures & study guides are sometimes misleading. 5 lecture exams, 4 lab exams, case study, RS, & EC mastering HW
She is helpful if you go to her office hours. 4 practicals, 4 midterms, 1 final, mastering, review sheets, 1 case study. Physio can be easy if you have no life or other hard classes. Take advantage of the first test, it is tough but it is too hard to bring your grade up towards mid semester.
Super easy, go over things, practice, practice, practice. There is lots of memorization but if you practice it, you will remember it. Having a partner to go over things will help a lot. The study guides are straight forward and help a lot for the test. I would say attend class if you have a difficult time pronouncing anatomical words but that is it
Very interesting, not much brain power needed, you just really need to learn the material & be able to memorize vast amounts of information. Learn your PDF's make sure you know answers to her SG. An A is definitely possible. Lab is a big part of your grade, do well, study for the quizzes, do RS & mastering for EC. STUDY MODELS!
Students complain she crams and doesn't explain things well, but that's not true. It's because they don't read so when they come to her lecture they don't have a clue. Record and listened to her lecture after you read the book, it makes total sense. It's impossible not to cram because there's so much to cover. She takes studying to another level.
This class is not hard but you do have to spend a lot of time studying because there is a lot of memorization. Study from day 1 and always attend lecture and do the extra credit, it helps a lot! understand the material or else you will fail the exams. I never recorded the lectures but i heard it does help. Put the time in and you will get an A!
Extremely fast pace. Should take this class during your 3rd or above year. Must take it with friends or a study buddy. It will be a living nightmare by yourself. MUST DO ONLINE EXTRA CREDIT HW and EXTRA CREDIT LAB WORKSHEETS! THOSE HELP SO MUCH! Textbooks are MUST NEED.
Snatch EVERY POINT POSSIBLE (900/1000 = A)! 110 POSSIBLE EC points (Mastering A&P + Lab WS), which are necessary to make up for the points lost on the difficult practicals. EXTREMELY knowledgeable. The AMOUNT OF MATERIAL makes it difficult-not Chooljian. In fact her exams could have been WAY harder. Extremely doable to get an A, you just gotta work
Very knowledgeable professor. Very fast pace class. Try to get every point that is possible because it will help in the end. Fully commit yourself to this class and you will do fine. Very passable if you try.
this class was the hardest class i have ever taken, but if you get an A in this class you are set for any other class... you really have to be dedicated to spend every day studying for at least 3 hours and attend class every day. if you are committed and want an A you will need to be able to give up your social life to achieve it... good luck!
This is by far one of the hardest classes I've taken in my life but it is very possible to go above and beyond in this class. You just have to be ready to work commit and study your life away.
It's a tough class but definitely passable. She gives tons of EC to boost your grade. I had a D in the beginning of the semester and I passed with a 98. Office hours help alot. Attend SI. Do every online homework, it counts. Spend the lab time studying models and make use of any open labs. Get help from wherever you can before it's too late.
This is the hardest class I have taken but doable , If you want an A you have to give up your social life and study everyday! I mean it you have to be dedicated and spend at least 3-6 hours a day studying... This class will kill you if you study until the day before the test. The tests are really tricky but very passable! Goodluck
This class was one of the toughest class I have ever taken!!! Take this class seriously if not you will have to retake it an suffer another semester again. There are 5 lecture tests, 4 lab tests and one case study. The tests are hard so study everyday and give up your social life to pass them. I didn't form a study group but I heard it helps.
This class is difficult, but due to EC its doable. Got a 60% on the 1st lecture exam and a 65% on the lab exam and still finished with a 95%. Just be ready to commit to this class.
I thought this class was easy. It's not like anatomy where you just memorize stuff. You have to make connections and once you do, the information sticks and makes sense. Go to the SI sessions, they help.
Chooljian is incredibly knowledgeable, willing to help, and fair in her expectations. This class will likely be your focal point for the semester due to the amount of content. She gives open labs on weekends, study guides online, and does not take herself too seriously. Expectations are high, but she is upbeat and believes in her students abilities
The first day of class was packed. By half way through the semester only about 100 people were in that giant lecture hall. To anybody planning on taking this class, MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK WITH YOU MAJOR ADVISOR BEFORE YOU REGISTER. It is so hard to get into and a lot of people are either scared away or don't need it. This teacher is amazing.
I took it last semester & got an A. It's a hard class, you really need to study everyday, so try not to take a heavy course load when u r taking physio... record every lecture, this is *essential* to succeeding, pause & rewind when u dont understand something.. SI is a waste of time.. buy the Fox book as she teaches from it, not the required book.
I have taken anatomy and physiology with chooljian and she is an awesome professor who knows her stuff. She seems scary at the beginning, however if you are not dedicated to her class 150% than it is hard. I highly recommend going to S.I. every chance you get because ray is awesome and tells you exactly what to study and also FORM STUDY GROUPS!!
This class is extremely easy. Chooljian is smart, but she doesn't know how to break the class into an intro physio course or just teach the physiology. She teaches anatomy along with the class, so study what you go over, especially for lab. Go to SI if you need the help. Her lectures, I felt, were a waste, I went only for the first month.
This instructor is really smart, but sucks at teaching. Makes you wonder how she even has this job. The lab is harder than the actual lecture and the lecture is basically a waste of time. Go to SI sessions, they're crucial to passing. Learn from Rey ---BAMF Passed with an A
This class is one of the hardest classes at state. I walked out learning more than I EVER have in a class. If you expect not to study for hours you will not pass. I have seen people try their hardest and still only end up with a B or C. Chooljian is amazing. But you won't learn this stuff only by going to lecture. You have to study! Amazing class:)
Dr. Chooljian is awesome, just get to know her. Go into her office hours and make the effort to stay with the pace of the lectures. Go to SI sessions, for me it was the opposite. They do help.
I felt like she never taught the things we were tested on. She'll go over textbook material but when you take the exam it will never look like the ppts. If you ask questions she can be condescending or rude. I prefer Ray's style to teaching so go to SI if you want help and do ALL extra credit! It's passable if you live and breathe it 24/7.
Go to every class and do as much work as possible. Even after going to every class and SI session, I still couldn't get my grade up. Be ready to read. Hardest class I've ever taken. She doesn't go over the material in the book. Fight for your grade because even after trying to get help from her, she wouldn't budge.
Definitely not an easy class. Lectures are interesting but she talks fast so I would record it. Lab is harder than lecture, so don't pass on studying for it. It is passable if you literally make it your life. GO TO SI. However, I did learn more than I had in any other class I've taken at state.
Tests are easy if you study, I made sure to read every chapter when I had the time to . Don't worry about what others have said. LISTEN IF U TRUELY STUDY IN THIS CLASS, THEN IT WILL BE AN EASY B at least. If you want that A study study study !! USE YOUTUBE to reinforce the subjects they help! take it as a challenge. hello med school isn't easy!!!!
This class was very difficult but it is passable! I should have studied more and gone to the SI sessions but I didn't and that would have really helped my grade. The lab portion of the class and the online extra credit helped me get a C in the course. You have to stay focused and study every day to get an A in this class. The tests are very hard.
Hard class but very passable with an A.I literally poured all my time into this class in order to pass with an A. My tips for you students who plan to take this course is 1) record lecture, 2) read the book (from SI), 3) GO TO SI, 4) STUDY, 5) go to office hours, & put in 110% of your time and effort. If you do all these an A is very attainable GL
This is college, so expect courses like these to be very in-depth and challenging. Getting an A is attainable but you really need to dedicate all your time studying and memorizing the bones, muscles, etc for the lab exams and the lecture tests. Record the lectures, go to SI, study study study! Chooljian is more than willing to help if you ask her.
The tests are hard. If you don't study for lab then you will do horrible. It is critical that you stay on top of all the material. She expects you to start the study guide on the first day of class.
STUDY STUDY STUDY. Lectures fast, class was not too difficult, offers a lot of extra credit. DO THE HOMEWORK it may be worth a few points but those points help! don't miss any assignments!! watch out for due dates
Very conceptual and very overwhelming, physiology is definitely NOT an easy course. Study everyday and go to SI, they're CRUCIAL to passing this class. There are 4 lecture tests and 4 lab exams, 1 final, and 1 case study. Chooljian makes you work for your grade but I found that to be very rewarding since it's prepared me for future classes.
Hardest classes I have ever taken but if you dedicate your full time and effort into studying the material it is passable.
It's Physiology, it is never easy. Get into a study group ASAP, be sure to read ahead of lectures and go to her office if you have questions. She may seem intimidating, but she will make time to help you if you ask for it. She wants you to succeed, don't wait to ask for help. Record lectures. Take lots of Notes. Don't skip. Be dedicated.
Make sure to be on top of the material and study everyday. This class was intimidating, but don't let it get to you. Just make sure you are constantly referring to your notes and listen to the lectures! It's a hard class, but just talk through the topics and keep an open mind when studying. Just put in the hard work and it will pay off. Good Luck!
A&P in general will take a lot of time and effort but just take it day by day and it really will pay off!! Chooljian is there for you and really does her best for you, if you give your best. Getting an A is very attainable, just don't see the course as a burden, and really be interested in learning because it will all come together and make sense!
Professor Chooljian is amazing!! Definitely not an easy course but WORTH IT! It's really not as hard as people say, I didn't even use the textbook. RECORD LECTURES. Print out the pwrpt. outlines and take notes on that as she lectures. Study by reviewing slides & lecture. & VISIT HER OFFICE HOURS if you have any questions!! She's helpful! Got an A!!
Dr. Chooljian is a nice lady but she teaches the class as if all the students in it are intending on going to med school. Only 4 very difficult lexture and lab exams. My classes lab grade average was 50% and the lab instructor wasn't even surprised he said it was he same the previous semester. Don't take this class if you dont plan on med school.
Professor Chooljian is fair. The course was difficult, of course. I suggest recording lectures and reading ahead of time so you don't get too lost during lectures. Lab exams were VERY challenging... Use all study guides. Do all extra credit. STUDY! Getting an A in the class is very possible, but challenging. You MUST be committed to the course.
This is one the hardest classes you will take at fresno state. You have to work hard to earn your grade, and you must study a lot if you want to pass this class. Its definitely stressful, you will not pass lab if you do not study. Take a lot of pictures of the structures & MOST IMPORTANT: go to lecture, do the extra credit homework, and study smart
Go to class & Record lectures. Review the PowerPoints before class. Use her lecture exam study guide to test yourself wht u kno. Use lab time to look over the models, and take pictures. Look over the interactive ppts she puts on bb, those are helpful. Don't miss out on any extra credit opportunity & hw. Don't let studying with someone hold u back.
Dr. Chooljian has a caring attitude at times, but the class she teaches is for people that want to go to med school. If you are taking this class for the nursing program she demands that you know as much as you would need to know to go to med school. Highly not recommended. Lab exams are extremely difficult, study guides given but very vague.
This course was very hard, but it is possible to get an A. She lectures very fast and seems like she is just trying to get through the PowerPoints. She is a lot nicer one on one though. I wouldn't call it "teaching", but she forces you to learn the material.
This class is difficult, and if you think you'll get away with not studying, you are wrong! Chooligan is a great person, but her class is just hard. She is so passionate, however, and I enjoy that. GO TO SI! Its hard to keep up with her in lecture, way too fast no chance to even really ask questions. It's really up to you. But i learned soooo much
Dr. Chooljian is a great professor! Her class is HARD, but doable. You have to be serious about your major to do well in this class. There's a lot of homework, but it's fairly easy & gives you more chances to earn points. Also lots of opportunity for extra credit. There's 4 exams in lecture & 4 in lab (finals included).
a very difficult class she tries her best to teach it, but it is just a hard topic with lots of information. studying is a must and will not pass without it. do ALL the hw because it will make a huge difference in the end. she gives extra credit and might curve some tests, but do not expect as much leniency as 67a
I found it easier to skip lecture. This is the hardest class I've ever taken, but I was able to get an A (barely). Lecture tests aren't that bad and she gives you a pretty detailed study guide. For lab, tests are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, so I recommend taking LOTS of pictures of the models. She has a lot of EC so it evens out.
The Course is hard, but she tells you what to expect from the class. A lot of HW and studying. She does her best to help the class pass, but the material is hard to explain so its a lot of self-teaching. HW gives you unlimited chances to get 100%, but in my opinion Lec was the easier one compared to Lab. Lab is super difficult so study study stud
The class is Very difficult! Good class if you study on your own very well. Lectures are review. Labs are okay but just study everyday. I suggest not taking this course with other difficult classes. Test are worth alot of points. Studying is a must. keep up with the reading and review powerpoints. Take advantage of extra credit.
Here's your guide to passing: DO the Mastering A&P homework, it's 60 points EC! That's ALOT! Study with the Mastering A&P study quizzes/tests. Her study guides are NOT helpful. Lab quizzes are basically the pictures pulled from her lecture powerpoints. SHOW UP TO CLASS, she gives EC randomly. You HAVE to study, but she curves ALOT. You'll pass.
This professor is one who throws the info at you at a very fact pace and expects you to receive good grades on her exams. HER STUDY GUIDES DON'T HELP. She is a horrible lecture, and sucks at explaining things. You pretty much have to teach yourself. GOOD LUCK!
Dr. Chooljian is a tough, but great professor! I highly respect her. She really does care about her student's success. Do ALL the homework & extra credit. Do her study guides a week in advance and use them to study. 4 exams, 1 final, 2 lab exams. GO TO CLASS. It's a hard class, but her expectations are realistic & it's possible pass.
Tough teacher but you learn a lot from her as she sets her standard high. Study and do all the work that you need to and you will be fine. She goes fast but she has to, to get through all the material. She definitely grows on you especially if you have her for both semesters. Much respect to her now that I'm done w/ 67A & 67B.
Chooljian's a great professor! Her lectures are clear and intersting. As long as you study her PDFs, you should be fine. Dedicate 2-3 hours/day studying and you will do great in this class. Lab was def harder, so study study! Use her online PDFs, interactive ppts, (don't read the textbook). TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY.
She is a great professor in terms of what you get to learn from the class. Her grading criteria is clear, but it is a lottt of work. She is very fast & I recommend a group in order to make this class easier. One advice I would give is make sure you ask the SI leaders/tutors for the PDF of the old Anatomy book, bc that is what her PPTs are based on.
Tough class! She gives many opportunities that will help you. My advice is to try your best all the time and study!!! This class can be scary but can also be very interesting!
Excellent teacher, touch course. You will need a study group and I definitely recommend attending SI sessions. The course is heavily based on anatomy and the majority of your grade comes from your lab. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she's intimidating, but she truly cares for her students.
Tough course, but you have a variety of people more than willing to help. She moves through her lectures fast, but she offers outlines of everything she goes over. If you are taking this course you must have taken 67 A so be prepared to incorporate what you learned from A into B. Go to her office hours, tutors and don't be afraid to ask questions.
Goes super in-depth more than you need to know she thinks that we are all medical students
She will make you work for your grade. She curves her exams and offers lots of extra credit only because majority don't do well on her exams.
The course is dense but prepares you very well for medical school. Her lectures are fast-paced, but that's only because there is lots of material that needs to be covered. She's truly inspirational and is well respected. Study and use your resources.
Chooljian's class is full of a lot of information but if you really do the study guides and pays attention to the main processes in class you will do fine. Her lectures can be a little all over the place, but she really does care about you learning the WHY being everything.
Professor Chooljian's course is not easy. You will have to study 2-3 hours a day in order to fully understand the main concepts and processes. Imo lab is much harder than lecture this semester, so study hard. She gives lots of EC opportunities. Go to SI sessions, office hours, and watch a lot of Khan Academy and Anatomy Zone videos. GOOD LUCK!
Professor Chooljian is an amazing professor who knows her stuff! She gives a lot of extra credit and curves both lecture and lab exams (for lecture she curves off the highest score). You also learn way more than what she actually puts on the tests. It is possible to pass the class but if you want an A then you will have to work for it.
Lectures are fast paced, Chooljian goes off on tangents that are irrelevant to the course. She expects you to already know what is on her lecture slides. The time given in the lab exams are so inconsiderate of everyone's learning abilities. You literally get 30 seconds per question. This class will cause anxiety & jeopardize your mental health.
This class is very difficult. 30 seconds to answer a question on lab exams so its basically you know it or you don't. She's really hard on the students and makes the excuse that if we want to go to the medical field you need to be able to do well under pressure. I would say this class messes with you mental health.
Do not take this professor. She is extremely rude and inconsiderate. I went through horrible family problems and she was not willing to accommodate for me. This professor really made my mental health worse. All I learned from this course was that she needs to be more compassionate...
This class is HARD! As others have previously mentioned, this class can break you if you do not take time to care for your mental health but do not blame professor Chooljian. She's also caring, I was going through a really tough time at home and when I spoke to her she was very understanding and let me take an exam a week later than everyone else.
Everyone seems to give her a bad rap for her teaching. She is a great teacher and you will certainly learn your stuff. She gets a bad rap because people are lazy and dont want to work hard. Lab is tough but extra credit and curves make up for it. Best advice I can give you is make friends fast and study with them. Class is very doable
Chooljian is one of the most difficult professors I've ever had. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the course for you. Chooljian is very respected because you really have to work to earn your grade. She does not give handouts and will not sugar coat anything, but I will be a better nurse because of how much I had to study for this class.
this is a tough class, you really have to be dedicated in your work to pass. Getting an A isnt impossible since i surprisingly got one. LOTS of hw. She talks fast in lec but go bc participation points could add into ur final grade as EC. 4 lab and lec tests. final isnt cumulative. study guides dont really help. good luck!
Professor Chooljian is one of the toughest professor I have ever taken. Be sure to use your time studying for the course since there is lot of material, which requires memorizing and understanding. Do not procastinate! The tests can be tricky sincec most of the questions requires understanding, and you only get 30 secs to answer on lab exams.
Wish there was another professor to teach this course at Fresno state. She doesn't offer plenty of extra credit which seems reasonable considering her test are extremely hard. You need to study so much for this class. She's tough on her students and expect you to know everything.
This class is very tough, time consuming and takes a LOT of studying to succeed. There is a LOT of homework and tests or quizzes almost every week. However, if you study and use lab time wisely this class is very doable! Professor Chooljian is very caring and offers a LOT of extra credit. Use those opportunities! Study HARD and you should do well!!
want an A? listen up. For lec exams (3 + final) study off her powerpoints! Use the book, hw, or reviews for extra help IF needed but don't rely on just these. For lab exams (4), study off EVERY display that is out in lab (take pictures!) and study off her interactive ppts. take advantage of extra credit (& attendance points) or you'll regret it!
AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS
The class is very lecture-heavy. She does provide extra credit so take advantage of that. There is a lot of content to know and not a lot of time to learn all of it. She posted all her lecture videos but I wish her class was set up as synchronous instead of asynchronous. I felt like I had to teach myself.
Do not take this class unless you have countless hours dedicated to studying. If possible take at a community college and just transfer the credits. Some lab instructors gave their students extra help and tips for both lecture and lab exams which made this class feel extremely unfair and she didnt regulate it so I got nothing while others got more
Probably one of the toughest classes I have taken so far! This class can mess with your mental health due to the dense material but don't blame Chooljian. Use your study time wisely and form study groups. Lecture & Lab exams are curved! Connect is a drag but there is TONS of extra credit throughout the semester. Lab is hard but doable. Good luck!
DO NOT recommend taking this class at state - 0/10. You are basically teaching yourself & zoom meetings are literally no help. I was 0.06% away from the next letter grade and she does not curves grades at ALL. Save yourself time & energy and take this class at community college.
This class was HARD! You need to read and make sure you study alot! Do ALL the HW assignments and always get 100% they are easy, she encourages you to work in groups for the HW! She curves all exams so that always boosts your grade up, study guides arent very helpful. Lab exams are difficult, study everyday if u can. 2 Blood donation XC.
The course is very test heavy. You're better off taking this class at a community college. It is fast pace and the most overwhelming class I have ever taken. Tests in both lab and lecture are worth 250 pts. Lab only has 2 tests so if you mess up once you only have 1 more try to get a better grade in the class.
Took this class during the pandemic so lectures were all pre recorded and PowerPoints with terms were given in advance as well. The only downside to this class is the 150+ terms you need to know for just 1 exam. It would've been better in person. Exams are worth around 250 pts each. She doe have XC assignments.
This class would not be so bad if it wasn't for the way it was taught. You are basically expected to teach the entire course yourself, since there are just pre-recorded lectures given to you since this class was synchronous. She will go on rants about how bad the class did on exams when it's students' grades that reflect your ability to teach.
This is one of those classes where you shouldn't slack off in. The tests are worth 250 points, which is a lot so you must devote all your time in this class and study. She does offer study guides for you to review, but they're not like 100% helpful. She also offers extra credit, so take advantage of that.
Lecture does not help at all. What she goes over has almost to nothing to do w/ exams. Exams were like every 2-3 weeks, including lab exams. Expects you to know everything. You're better off studying the exam reviews than listening in lecture. Attendance is crucial cause she uses TopHat for lecture and homework (due every Sunday). Not great
It's not impossible to get an A in the course. Do not listen to all the bad reviews. A&P is a hard course in general, so you must work for it. Don't rely on just the study guide, use her powerpoints, lectures, and outside resources. TAKE NOTES. She curves exams. offers extra credit. Just study study study and you'll do good.
It's a historically hard class, so it makes sense that it's hard. Put in the work and you will AT LEAST pass. All of the tests are curved, including lab exams, she offers extra credit, and at the end of the semester will curve attendance points for someone at a D, needing a C. Lots of work, but it was expected. I only wish lectures were in person.
This is a hard course. You will have to dedicate time for the class which was expected coming from 67A. I did not find the study guides useful but instead focused on her asynchronous lectures on Canvas. She gives a whole week to take the lecture exams which is appreciated. Beware only 2 lab exams! 30 seconds per questions. Do not miss those!
I was hesitant to take Biol 67A/B at state. Now looking back, it was actually not that bad. I think the number one reason why many struggle is that they lack the basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology. I usually spend a week trying to learn the basics, I found Wendy Riggs on YouTube to be great. For anatomy, the Anki app & Ninja Nerd helped a lot.
Karen is awful! Her class is very demanding and ridiculously hard! She does not care that we have 4/5 other classes to worry about. She thinks her class is the only important one. Her exams are hard and the lab exams are TERRIBLE! 30 seconds per question on her lab exams which is obviously not enough time. She's rude & not understanding at all!
This class is honestly tough. To pass this class, you literally have to solely focus only on Anatomy and disregard your other courses. Lecture is okay but Lab is terrible. 30 secs per question and you rotate around the room to each model and identify key points/actions. Extra credit at most will boost your overall grade 1-2% which is not enough.
She is a great professor because she is knowledgeable of the material, but she will push you to your absolute limit in terms of studying. She asks you high-level critical thinking questions on her exams that will help you prepare for future exams like TEAS or MCAT. You will need to study ~20-25 hrs per exam minimum for a chance to get an A.
Anatomy will be hard I get it but there is a limitation, We all took hard classes but not the way that this class is, after taking Karen class I really hated college and specially Anatomy, Labs literally you have to teach your self, I never had a B on my transcript but on this class I barely getting C+, SHES REALLY BAD TRUST.
SHE IS STRICT! Great teacher/person individually, she tries to help to the best of her ability. I barely passed her class and that's that I went to office hours occasionally and lab hours outside of class. Get ready to study upwards of 40+ hours per week. her class is a full-time job. lab exams are the hardest ever!
Hard but not impossible since she curves everything. Those who complain about her are not putting in the work and are probably looking for a handout.
ANATOMY COULD BE WAY EASIER IF YOU TAKE IT WITH A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR, ITS REALLY TOUGH BY THE WAY ITS BEEN TEACHED, HARD TESTS (REALLY HARD), LABS WAY HARDER, I WILL NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS AGAIN WITH PROFESSOR KAREN.
If you want to get into medical school, dental school, nursing school or any medically-related field, this is the course to take. TOUGH grader, but does curve. Not a course for those who don't put in the time and do the work. Labs are tough, but excellent. Expect to spend a lot of time studying.
The lectures were very quick-paced. She knows what she is talking about but sometimes it was messy. If you pair her lectures with educational videos, the material will make sense. The textbook that she uses for her class is ok, it lacks the depth of what she really talks about. Find other sources to help don't just rely on the lectures & textbook.
If you can, take Bio 67A/B at a CC. She is a nice lady, but it ends there. She demands way too much from her students and treats this class as if everyone in the class is going go to med school. 75 questions exam and you only have 75 minutes to complete. Lab exams are even worse. Dont take this professor bruh prolly one of the worst on campus
Human A&P isn't an easy class to take. You really need to commit yourself to it if you really want the grade that you want. Professor Chooljian provides you with all the resources you need and she's fair, you just need to make sure you look and review those resources by yourself. It's a lot of studying and mental preparation but that's how STEM is.
The course is hard but Chooljian knows her stuff. Watch the asynchronous videos and you should pass. 67B Lab was easier than 67A Lab.
She's very knowledgable about A&P but gives lectures that feel rushed & incomplete. Recommend just watching her much more helpful asynchronous lecture videos and taking notes. The hardest part about this class is that it takes SOOO much of your time studying for it although you can expect generous grade curves on lecture & lab exams.
To anyone complaining about this professor, they're probably not used to working/studying for a course that was meant to weed out students who aren't serious about getting into the medical field. This is a somewhat difficult course, but if you put in the hours and effort into both lab and lecture, you'll come out fine.
This class definitely will take a lot of your time, but then again, if you're wanting to go somewhere in the medical field then you will need to know these systems that you're going to learn in this class. Chooljian knows this and prepares us, it's up to the students to put in the time and effort to actually understand the concepts. Hard but doable
Honestly, she can be nice, but she expects too much out of you. Lab exams are extremely hard and a majority of the class, if not all, will fail before the curve. She expects you to know as much as her and can be very demeaning at times. Has told the class that it does not matter how we do because she'll still have her job.
Professor Chooljian knows its a difficult course and gives you so many resources to help you, gives fat curves and is open to answering questions. While its a hard class that is no way the fault of the professor just the course material. She was super cool but be prepared to put in at least 5 hours a week outside of class. She wants you to succeed
Hard class? yes lol. Is Karen a good teacher? she is. Look this class is designed to be hard. I am not smart at all. I barely met the class averages for each lab and lecture exam. The curves saved my life. Go to SI, read the powerpoints a little bit each day and you will pass. Just try your best and you will pass. She wants you to pass
Anatomy is intended to be tough! The material is insane, but don't get discouraged! Professor C. truly just wants us all to succeed, so reach out to her for help if you can. The lab exams are crazy, but the curves definitely help. Lecture exams are much better, just review everything with time and DON'T CRAM your brain physically can't handle it.
Be prepared to study a lot - each unit has over 250+ slides to review and 15+ lecture videos to watch. Exams range from 80-100 questions. There is extra credit offered and exam curves help A LOT... professor chooljian also doesn't round grades. Save yourself the stress and take this class at community college if you can.
Probably one of the worst professors i've ever had!!! Both 67A and B were so difficult. I understand it's a difficult course but at least make it so the test match up with reviews. Units are 200+ slides each with test of 90-100 questions that are EXTREMELY specific. I hate how it's only her at the anatomy teacher here smh!
Professor Chooljian sets the bar high, but provides plenty of support to help you succeed. While the course material is challenging, using resources like Unstuck study and putting in the effort can make all the difference. With dedication, this class is manageable.
An educator should be professional when it comes to teaching and correcting a mistake. There was an incident this semester where a girl accidentally was unmuted in the beginning of class and professor started screaming at her and telling her if she doesn't mute she could be failed from the class and took her -50pts. She can be very discourteous.
It is understandable that this course is tough. But the way this course is taught makes it even more difficult. You have to study a lot, especially self-study.
This class is not easy, but hey, it's the health field right? Chooljian is retiring, and she was a great professor. Her lectures were great and professional, the content was just hard to grasp! Exams come faster than you'd expect. I don't know which was worse, lab or lecture! They both require lots of studying time! Attend SI for additional help.
