Down to earth, and a fair grader. Totally funny
she was an awesome teacher. she taught us everything while pregnant. i give that much props and still keeps up with me after the class.
Since attending Mason she has been the best teacher I've ever had. She made it a lot of fun. Its hard to find such a teacher who really cares. Calc was the best I enjoyed learning. Thank you so much Prof. Crossin
Really nice lady, tries to be funny in a quirky way, but is still pretty cool. Very willing to help and her lessons/lectures are VERY understandable. Learned alot from her. Definitely take her for math.
Awesome teacher very fair grader, good nature , funny definately take her for any math!!!!!
The best teacher I have ever had. Fair, smart, funny, helpful. Tests aren't hard.
Awesome Teacher need more like her teaching Math. Tests and quizzes come straight from her notes, if you understand in class. You will get an A. Just attend all classes so you dont fall behind.
Excellent teacher. Breaks things down so you can understand it. Even the hard parts of the course were made easier by the way she broke the material down. The answer book also helps a lot.
I was always good at Math but hated it. I figured it would be a pain in the butt to take it for Gen-Ed here but she made it incredibly fun. Not only was here teaching style great, but her patience, clarity, and overall ability to keep everyone's mind on math was awesome. Best teacher at Mason.
take this class, you wont regret it
I'm not a great student nor am I any good at math but Crossin was the best teacher ever had. She really cares about her students her tests were fair and she made learning fun.
Calculus is horrible, but this teacher makes it easier to understand than any other. She does do some take home quizes that will help an average grade.
You NEED to have this professor, she IS ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST COOLEST, LAID BACK, SILLY professor I have ever encountered, you are guarenteed an A if you passed middle school!
Mrs. Crossin is a wonderful teacher. Its an extremely easy class even for those who arent good at math. Theres not alot of work to do for the class. The work that you do is easy. The tests and quizzes are easy esp. since you can use a calculator. DEF RECOMMENDED TEACHER!
TAKE THIS CLASS, TAKE THIS TEACHER.
Listen to me people. I got a D the first time i took this class i'm getting an A with Crossin. You should go out of your way to get into her class.
I wish all my classes were taught this way. EXCELLENT teacher. cares that u understand the material, and makes it easy. i enjoyed attending her class bc of her silly personality. Keep up with whats going on in the class and you will ACE the class. I wouldnt have any other teacher for math!
There is a God! Not only can you pass this course, but you can actually get an A...AND you will learn something. Gee, what a concept! She should teach other professors how to teach.
crossin can be cool if you suck up to her all semester. she's biased and unfair. this past semester she changed grades for kids who were failing so they could pass, even tho they never came to class - but doesnt round up for other students. she's crazy and she even cancelled the final because she thought it was going to interfere with her plans.
I got to say she's a winner, not only her charm but her overall teaching capabilities, shepicked on me a little but to my best judgement it was flirting, thankyou mrs. i hope to seeyou around you blond headed diva
First of all, I know the kid that gave her all 1's, and he only said that because he is jealous she didn't flirt with him and didn't help his grade. She may not be the most intelligent, but she is very seductive and very clever with helping you get your grade up, and no she did not cancel the final exam, I took the final exam and gave her a kiss!
Hands down she is the nicest teacher at George Mason. She actually cared about the students and really wanted to help them succeed. I strongly suggest this course to anyone needing to take math. All other teachers should see her as an example and do what she does. There are only positive things to say about her
great professor! understands that no one takes her class too seriously..super easy, esp. if you look over the assigned homework before tests and show up to class most of the time. Lets class out early if you show that you understand the EASY material!
uh, yeah she cancels the exam. pretty sweet.
Silly woman with a great personality. Her class is incredibly easy - I recommend her for 106!
yeah....
Calculus is made very very very easy with Crossin as the professor. Makes the class actually interesting!
Has to be nicest and by far the best math teacher at Mason. I failed this class b4 due to horrible professors and I got an A in this class. This is without opening tbe book once and never having done the assigned hws. Her lectures are very straightforward and are clear-cut. She is that good of a teacher that I was able to study off class notes.
hands down the best math teacher i've ever had...very laid back...very funny...i actually enjoyed math. the tests are very easy because she explains everything so well during class. take her!!!!
awesome teacher with the ability to teach well. She makes a borign and serious class like calculus fun and light with witty banter and sarcasm. She understands just because you are in a calc class you aren't gonna bea rocket scientist. Hands down take her!
i luv this prof. she is really kind and caring and has a laid back style of teaching. (high praise coming from someone who hates math) ive taken 2 math classes with her and she makes the subject matter understandable. def. a teacher for those who are taking math because they have to.
She is the best...Forget all the rest! She makes difficult math concepts easy to understand. I wish GMU would hire more instructors like her. She is also a real person! I wish I could say that about some of the other profs at GMU.
Omgosh this is my second time taking this class and she made it so much easier also i passed with her class with an A. She helps sooo much....
An extremely fair and down-to-earth professor. Anyone who says the class is a breeze is not being honest. Not all of us at GMU are straight out of HS freshmen with time to jack off and go to frat parties. Anyway, the class is passable - do the homework and study for the tests; Crossin will meet you more than half way...
She is very cool. She makes math so easy and explain everything for you. She let you know exactly what is on the tests and sometimes even use hw problems. So if you do your hw, you will be fine. Although some day, she can really be slow and confusing...
Crossin is cool. If you can, most def take her. She broke it all down so even those who have difficulty with calculas (like me) can pass with flying colors. I got an A in the course and I have to take my shoes off to count to 20.
This is by far the best math teacher I've ever had in my life. I failed 108 twice, but this time Crossin taught the material so well that someone that maybe borderline retarded could pass this class with her. Down to earth lady who explains the material so well. I give her an A ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++. Awesome lady and teacher.
As long as you show an effort you will do fine. she has open hours and is willing to work with you. she made math fun again for me. she is honest and funny in class. a nice change than the normal professor. she is a breath of fress air. take her and you will go away from the class knowing you can understand math.
she is a great professor!!!! take her for as many mth class as possible!!! she teaches the class in the easiest way possible!! she deserves a novel prize for MTH!! take her!
First off... I hate math. She made the class interesting and very easy. I have actually learned quite a bit this semester with her. She is the BEST MATH PROFESSOR THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY TAKE! Do not waste your time with another professor. Do everything you can to take it with her. She is very nice, entertaining, and knows what shes doing.
Best Prof. I had during my college career. She is awfully nice, very helpful & supportive. She is funny & goffy, def makes the class fun. Attend every class, take good notes, re-write her notes, do the assigned h.w & you'll be fine. Word of advice, don't be a donkey and try to cheat in her class cuz you'll get caught and get kicked outta Mason.
She is one of the best professors in the school. Calculus was a topic I struggled with before big time, but she teached it so clear and straight to the point. I was able to study and get A's on my test due to that. I highly recommend her as she has a great class presence, super funny, and is super helpful. Take her ASAP.
By far the best TEACHER at mason. The class was fairly easy, very funny, and interesting. I got an 'A' and it wasn't really hard at all. Just show up to class, ask questions, do the homework (if you think you have to), and get an A. Looking forward to seeing if she teaches any upper-level math classes!
Excellent teacher, very helpful, impossible not to learn in her class. She tricks you into learning. Takes her time and gives real life examples in order to make the math functional.
Great professor. She is very funny and you will know her entire life story by the end of the semester. she understands you have other commitments and is very flexible with the course material.
Great Teacher, Knows Math Very Well.. Makes Sure That Math Is Not YOur worst Nightmare. Was Always Available To help Me With My Math. If You Have To Take Math 106 or 108 No Questions Asked.. CROSSIN Is It. By The Way.. I hated Math All My Life And I Got A B+
best prof. at mason should be head of the department. less student suicides if she taught all classes.
One of the best professors at GMU
1st: TAKE CROSSIN. 2nd: here are some tips: Go to her office hours! When she understands your style of math, it is easier for her to give you partial credit on exams. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. POP QUIZES ARE PRETTY MUCH EASY A'S. You will actually learn math too...i know, crazy...but you will.
This prof loves pop quizzes. Usually tells you what to study for on tests. do hw for the points. go to class because sometimes she doesn't tell you what is due and when. that's the only low side. other than that, she has a great teaching style, you'll get things right away.
As someone who is less than mathematically inclined, I loved Professor Crossin's class. She made my last ever math class painless. The key: come to class, and do ALL your turn-in homework. Her tests aren’t bad and she allows you a half-page cheat sheet. She is always encouraging students to attend her office hours. I got an "A". SHE'S THE BEST
BEST PROF AT MASON IN ANY DEPARTMENT, EVER. She's funny, a little cheesey, and really loves to teach. Lots of extra credit, allows 1/2 page of notes for tests, highly accessible thru email or office hours, has the patience of a saint. Math usually bores me so much I'd rather pull out my own teeth, but I honestly looked forward to her class.
Best Math teacher ever. A little scatter brained, so if you do something extra for a grade make sure she counts it, and she may make a mistake or two while grading so CHECK CHECK CHECK. other than that, you WILL PASS!
PRO. is awesome!! Very patient and very helpful. Lessons are unambiguous, although, she gives you additional help during her office hours. Highly recommend Crossin. You are wasting your time with other professors as she is the best teacher. "DO NOT CHEAT IN HER CLASS." It's not worth getting kicked out of school. Go to her for help.
I can not complain about this professor. Extremely helpful and crystal clear on every topic. Go to her office hours and do all of the homework and your set. Makes math as simple as possible but also makes you learn!
Great Professor! I have been awful at math for at least seven years and she made calculus a breeze! Just show up, copy her sample problems, do some of the homework, and go to her office hours and she will tell you how to do everything!
She actually wants you to succeed and works to make it possible.
She is great. She really wants you to learn the material and is fun. I was terrified to take this class but she made it worthwhile.
She's absolutely an INSPIRATION to me. I was horrible and terrified about math because I lost the basics, however, with her explaintations, i would be able to get B-As in her exams...I would defintely take her for another math required class! I abosoltutely recommend her!!!! She's also funny, make math interesting...!!!
She is really helpful and gives a lot of extra credit if you do what she says. She also makes math fun.
She is really helpful and gives a lot of extra credit if you do what she says. She also makes math fun.
Prof. Crossin is very laid back and funny, but gets distracted very easily. (She always talks about her family)There's lots of homework, but the tests/quizzes are easy. She gives you extra credit for random things, and if your cell phone rings in class, you have to bring something to eat. Her 106 class is really easy-stem & leaf plots in college!
She does not use math terms when teaching so if you have to take another math class after this one you will struggle to understand what is going on. She teaches things in a down to earth way but sadly the higher level math classes do not teach in this manner.
I did what everyone did, looked on ratemyprofessor for "Karen Crossin"..turns out she is the WORST professor HOMEWORK is insane 1-200 Questions per class, our class met 3/wk...class lectures are pointless she uses her own terminology when labeling certain terms...their 6 tests, 5 quizzes very HARD..never at the office, never responds to email
best professor i ever had: helpful, funny, make math interesting, tests r not hard but u need to study also cuz calculus is not easy...quizzes r easy, do your homework and go to class u should be fine...i rather take her than any other cal professors..
B/c of Prof Crossin, I've learned to love math...my senior year of college. If you take her class and do what you're supposed to, you will succeed. Ignore all bad reviews, these individuals obviously suffer from personality disorders. Valuable to GMU.
love love LOVE her! shes so upbeat and happy about what she teaches. granted she likes to ramble and use off the wall terminology but it keeps you involved and on your toes! she's also very generous with extra credit and has zero problem spending all day on our troubles in her class. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
I took this class on the Spring of 07, and i am sure this is the best, most encouraging professors i've ever had. FYI- before the class, i hated calculus like no other BUT Mrs. Crossin made every lecture interesting, straightfoward, and crystal clear! i got an A in this class, and she only gave 2 quizzes, 3 tests, and an extra credit word problem
Prof Crossin is AMAZING! I HATE match, but she made it so much fun. She does not believe in memorizing formulas, so she let's you use a cheat sheet on test. Easy homework assignments. Very friendly professor; always telling her life stories. LOL. RECOMMENDED!!!!
She makes sure you understand what she's talking about and has no problem whatsoever with taking up an entire class period to do so if you have questions. She says "attempt the homework" which means it's optional and "do the homework to turn in" when you HAVE to do it, so the homework isn't crazy if you do just enough to understand the concept.
Yeah this professor is definitely pretty chill. Not great with using math terms to describe stuff, but she is a nice person who tries to make the class fun, which she does sometimes. Every class you just do 1 or 2 problems from a chapter section. For tests just take good notes and make sure you don't make careless mistakes. I like her, shes fun.
She is COOL, FUNNY, and understanding! My favorite math teacher ever. She likes to talk a lot. She's really easy with homework, and she'll tell you what will be collected. I am HORRIBLE at math, but I am glad I have her cause shes easy and not strict. If you need help, ask her cause she is always willing to help!! RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!
Really awesome teacher- one of the best out there! She makes an early morning class funny and interesting. Tests are easy and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. Recommend to anyone who wants an easy math elective or who is math impaired.
Ver easy teacher, lots of fun in class, tests are what she tells you they are. Homework is mandatory for good grade, but most importantly made me not hate math quite so much.
OMG... everyone tryin to pass 108 take this teacher... she wants you to pass... her test and quizes are very easy... she basically gives you 3 test which are 300 points... but she gives you a chance to get more points by doing h.w.... that really helps your grade... and her final... she basically tells you every single question for final.. very ezz
Professor Crossin is the best math teacher ever. She is really fun, and extremely helpful. The test are exactly like she says. This is a teacher who wants to teach you; she wants you to do well. Cannot go wrong here. If you're good at math though, I wouldn't take 106 anyways
Hands down the BEST teacher at GMU. I absolutely suck at math and was dreading this class for a long time. I had nothing to fear: her personality is so much fun, her examples are so clear cut and her teaching approach is so refreshing! I actually (gasp) enjoyed this class and (double gasp) earned an A!
Professor Crossin is a great teacher and you should take her if you can. Makes learning math fun, but yet intellectually stimulating in her own unique way. One word of advice: DO NOT CHEAT!! Take this advice seriously because bad things WILL happen!
take her, makes it easy and understandable. Cares about the students and doesnt just rush through the material to get it done. Not much homework, lots of in class Q&A, great class
Wonderful Math teacher. I seriously had a ton of math anxiety prior to taking her. I am now so confident that I am taking statistics next semester. Breaks down math to a simple level. Fun class and she is funny!!! Definitely take her!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is not that good like everybody said. She doesn't have any rules and her examples are irrelevant, very difficult to understand because she has her own methodology, not a good math professor, she teaches like a high school teacher, not professional. She seems easy, but not way. She makes evertyhing harder than it is.
Really nice person. Super understanding even when I overslept half an 8am test (she gave me extra time to finish). Helped me a lot more then I deserved, and really went out of her way to help. The way she taught clarified everything. A few quizzes to help attendance.
A really great professor. If you do your HW, you'll do fine on her quizzes and exams because the problems are structured exactly as is in the book. Don't cheat. Hard & honest work pays off.
One of the best instructors for 108. technically, you don't have to do the homework, BUT DO IT. She uses a lot of the homework problems on the quizzes and tests. Very friendly and always available either at her office hours or through email. She teaches for people who just want to get a C and for people who want to get an A.
I love professor Crossin. I hated Math before this semester and always got a low C and even a D in Math- This semester I got an A and I just love her. shes's always available for office hours and always willing to help! You just have to show your want to get help! LOVE HER
Professor Crossin is easily one of the best professors at mason. Very flexible and helpful all the way around, not to mention being very easy on the eyes. If you don't get an "A" in this class you are one of the few and should consider a back up plan for the whole college thing.
Easy tacher, prolly the best math 108 BUT her examples in class are so easy that when it comes test time she puts some questions you have never seen before...I got by without using the book, but you shuold buy the book if you want A or B. other than that shes is kool and wastes alot of class time talking about her cycling class
DO THE HOMEWORK, ATTEND CLASS, IGNORE BOOK'S EQUATIONS. Other than that, Crossin explains math well and will sometimes exempt certain problems if they are too hard. She uses her own formulas, DIFFERENT from the book so it's best to know her way for the test. She lets you drop 1 bad test/exam(you must know which 1 thou) and FINAL is 3 pages of HELL
Easily THE best professor I've ever had at Mason. She is extremely helpful and is willing to meet with you every week if you need it. She explains everything so clearly. If you need to take math for any reason, TAKE HER!
you would have to be an idiot to fail her class. just go to class, take notes, and understand whats going on and you'll have at least a C. shes awesome, i would recommend her any day
Probably one of, if not the best professors I've had in my entire life. She is the only teacher I've ever heard of in my life who could make a boring subject like Calculus fun. I always look forward to this class and her step by step teaching method with jokes on the side make it very easy to follow along. You will get a good grade in her class.
Professor Crossin has made this semester a breeze for me. I haven't done that well in Math since probably my Sr. year in HS. Taking MATH 272 with Prof. Crossin, was very easy this time. I had taken it once before and didn't get a whole lot out of it. This professor is available for office hours when you need help and will sit down with you until y
Professor Crossin was amazing. She made class fun. She does step by step problem solving and always is willing to help on difficult problems. I highly recommend taking her!
Apparently this was her first time teaching intro to prob/stat in several years. She did fine. Fun class. She is gushing with personality. Gives extra credit points if you make things "pretty" or draw her pictures on your exam. Not your average Professor.
Crossin is very animated. She must have like A.D.D or something but shes soo entertaining. Definitely there to help students. She makes little mistakes in class -- but you get EXTRA CREDIT if you correct her :) She's fun! I liked her class a lot. She's unique. She knows how to explain the concepts so you understand. TAKE HER!!!
it's kind of an unorganized class, but Crossin is so much fun. She's hilarious, and her examples are always really great. She's so realistic, it's amazing.
Take this class in the summer, it is sooooo easy. She is very funny and puts things into real life terms and situations that you can identify with. She is funny, democratic, and flexible. She has office hours and is available for extra help almost always. Very cool and good professor, I recommend her!
Although she can spacey at points, her sense of humor and wit make up for it. Her stories and real life examples are always so entertaining.
She was a great overall teacher, her comments in class keep you interested and they will make you laugh occasionally. The class was taught in lecture so it was good. She is a nazi about cell phones, if yours goes off in class she will kick you out. And if it goes off during a test well... But as a teacher she was fun, MATH 106 was easy I reccommend
She's great! I hate math but she made it easy to grasp and kept me engaged in class. Though class isn't mandatory, show up. She'll answer questions. I hate that it was a HUGE class, as does she, but just like she says, if you want to do well, you can.
she's a really nice person but gets off topic a lot which is annoying and is very unorganized. won't let you use cell phones or laptops in class. i<clicker was needed for this class. i hated going to class each day because she doesn't teach that much but just goes off topic. its ok for a gen ed though
Dr. Crossin is a nice lady but she can be extremely unfair with student issues. Her TA is very nice and helpful. She says Math XL is not mandatory but if you want to do well, you have to buy it. Okay class. Take it but don't disagree with her.
Helpful academically but not very sympathetic to personal issues. Easy class as long as you do the work on time and don't bring out your cell during a test.
Easy class. Don't be stupid and understand what she's teaching, show up to class even though you don't have to. Honestly it's all about having the responsibility to show up. Showing up + taking notes + making cheat sheet out of notes = easy A.
She is AWESOME! Have always been terrible at math but she made it understandable. HIGHLY recommend taking her class during the summer b/c she's super flexible and casual. Lets you make a cheat sheet for tests which is essential. Take her if you don't like math!
Best teacher I've had so far! She explains everything so that it's easy to follow and she makes class very entertaining. Gives extra credit if you point out a mistake in her powerpoint during class. Should be easy to get an A as long as you do the assignments. Take her class if possible!
Loved her! She is so energetic and fun. Makes math interesting with her energy and crazy comments. Always willing to help during office hours. The material is simple and easy as well.
Math is not my subject, but i took her hybrid course for the first time Mason offered it and it was so easy. The online hw might have been a pain but if you get good grades on her tests (which are really easy because she gives out practice tests that are exactly the same) then you wont have a bad grade at all. She is theee best, and funny too :)
Great funny professor. Just show up to class, do the practice test and you will get an easy A. She is also really funny
If you have the option, take the Hybrid version of this class! I took it this semester, and it was the first time it was ever offered. Easiest class ever! The online homewor wasn't that hard to do, just sometimes got repetitive. Shes a wonderful teacher, and will gladly help with anything! Take her if the class is open!
AMAZING. best professor at mason hands down. her lectures are informal & fun so you learn a lot. she's very clear & teaches step by step until you understand everything. she's also very leniant on grading & is all about partial credit. don't buy the book either, you don't need it at all. TAKE HER if you can!
Directions on her exams are kind of unclear with a lot of errors. she is very disorganized. She picks out the easiest thing from the chapter and keeps teaching it in different ways without covering anything else from the chapter and the day of the exam you find out that there were many other things in the chapter which you were supposed to know.
Never in class on time, never prepared and never dismissed us on time. grading system has no pattern at all. She gives 1.2 or 5 points partial credit and then mark something else completely wrong. half the time she didn't know the answer a to her own problems and often asked for a majority vote. One of the worst professors I've ever had!
Literally the best math teacher ever!! Sign up quick b/c her class fills up fast! Take her class I've had her for math 106 and 108 and she just as funny and helpful as she always been. Explains things very very well. I know people that have failed math and finally got a B taking her class!
Best professor ever. It doesn't matter what some may say, the majority will tell you that she's the best to take. If you pay attention and study before the exams you will get a good grade. Guaranteed.
Prof. Crossin is very fair and has a great sense of humor. She is one of the few people who are excellent at teaching math. Take her class!!!
Don't take Math 108 with anyone else! She really cares about her students and will put in extra time to help you out. Her tests and quizzes are very straightforward and she gives practice tests to study from. She is the best professor I have had so far at Mason!
Dem legs deaux (she's a biker)! seriously she's a great professor and if you're not a bum you'll get an easy A (ain't talking about bee stings ;) )!
Crossin is very straightforward and clear on what she expects you to know. She gives you many opportunities to do well and is fair. I don't think I could have learned calculus from any other professor. She tests you on exactly what she teaches. Do the same on the test as in your notes and you'll do well. I slacked on one test so I got a B overall.
Professor Crossin truly cares about her students. If you put in the effort you will get a good grade. Best professor I have had so far. If you need extra help she will go above and beyond to help you succeed.
Crossin is amazing. She prepares her students so well that math becomes easy. She likes to go on tangents (pardon the pun, lol) but bear with her. I've been at Mason for a few years now, and I can tell you that there are literally a handful of professors that actually care about the success of their students, Proffesor Crossin is one of them.
I am STUNNED at all the good ratings but notice that they are for Math 108, NOT 271. RUN RUN RUN! This woman is rude, a bit manic and will not answer questions that are the least bit challenging to her methods. Seems to enjoy students' suffering. Takes extremely simple material and makes it frenetic and chaotic.
She is so sweet and helpful! I recommend coming to her office hours because she always takes time to clarify any issues and gives you extra points for a lot of assignments. She allows you to use half a page of notes for tests. Awesome professor!
If you want to take a class that makes math as painless as possible, Crossin is the professor to take! She realizes that a lot of her students are not math majors, and only teaches what she finds applicable to normal life. She is spacey and will go on unrelated rants, but she is very personable and works for the needs of her students.
Great class. Funny and always willing to help.
She is a very nice teacher! She basically tries to make the class as easy as she could possibly make it. Do your homework and attempt to understand the material and you should be fine.
Professor Crossin is an excellent professor. She's very quick to reply to emails, and is always eager to help out students. I wish there were more professors like her out there! If you're attending GMU, I definitely recommend her!
If you haven't taken math in a while or this is your first math class for GMU, take Professor Crossin! She explains everything very clearly and she gives practice exams/quizzes that are EXACTLY like her actual exams/quizzes. If you just go over the study guides and memorize the steps/concepts you'll do great on the actual exams! Good luck. :)
Overall, pretty damn good math teacher. She is constantly going off topic though which is so annoying when you're trying to focus and learn the problem. Study guides are almost exactly like the test. She is a nice grader too, wants to see that you know what to do even if numbers are off. I say take her if you haven't had math in a while.
Love her! She's a funny, down to earth professor who really cares about students, but is levelheaded. The class: xyz homework sometimes has material we didn't go over in class, but it's not usually on tests. Go to class, take notes, and you should do well. Crossin explains problems in class in a way that's engaging. Also gives study guide for tests
She is so sweet and genuinely cares for the students. Shes a bit dorky but its nice cause it makes it easier to go up to her. She does a great job explaining things and if you show and listen its an easy class! Best MAth 108 teacher!
literally the best math teacher ever! some parts are no calculator but she does easy numbers where you don't need a calculator. she's really good at explaining and making it easy to understand. catch her mistakes in class for extra credit. I just can not express how good of a teacher she is! she's bad at replying to emails though
Easy A only if you attend class and pay attention, do the extra credit assignments, and if you turn everything in on time. Most of the time she talks about her life, which is funny, but in the end you don't really learn anything unless you tell her if she can be serious. She basically gives you the answers on study guide and practice problems.
Professor Crossin was AMAZING! She does genuinely care about her students and is extremely passionate about Math. She is both flexible and willing to work with any student that does their best! I highly recommend this instructor to anyone looking to improve in mathematics and/or is just looking for a wonderful learning experience!
She's a really nice person, literally Ms. Frizzle You'll be fine she'll get you through it. Under her the class, for a short time, becomes a community.
She is so awesome! Take her.. my whole life I struggled in Math but she made it easy and I actually learned something instead of always being frustrated and confused. She's laid back and engaging at the same time. A liberal Arts mind's best friend 3
Best math teacher. She makes the class interesting, i didn't expect to do this well in a math class but she made it possible.
Best math teacher! She's funny, knows the material well and surprises students with extra credit opportunities
Horrible professor.. Basically taught myself everything because she is useless. UNFAIR GRADING!! Half the time I would get 010 on my assignment and my group member would get 1010 and we would write the same exact thing. She is rude too... I wish I didn't have to take her
Crossin is so great. You get extra credit if you correct her mistakes. She tells you exactly what gets you full credit points on the tests. No calculators allowed but she gives an algebra refresher.
I took this class online and found her lectures to be very clear and concise. She requires you to participate on the discussion board, but she also takes the time to participate on it as well. She's always very helpful and actually got me interested in math.
She's a little distracted at times, but for every mistake you correct her for the class gets extra credit. We ended up with 20 extra points. Don't miss her class because she is great at explaining the math concepts! There's a reason why she always has a waitlist for her class.. TAKE HER!!
She was always so sweet when I ever had any questions! She replies to her emails almost immediately with clear and precise answers. Even though it was online, I never felt that I wasn't learning. Make sure to use the discussion boards, they will help you. If you want to know your grades on assignments, you have to email her.
She is perfect! Best math teacher I ever had. She explains everything very well and if you go to class she basically gives you the test questions and changes the numbers. She gives you extra credit for pointing out her mistakes so pay attention and speak up. She also is hilarious. I would take her again in a heartbeat
The best math prof especially for those in the business school, cannot stress this enough. She's quite funny and quirky which livens the class up a bit. Material is quite easy if you pay attention and do the work problems assigned. Gives class extra credit if you point out her mistakes.
Karen is awesome! If you're really passionate about teaching she'll work with you. Skipping class is not a good idea (at least not a LOT) The homework can be heavy sometimes but she's there to help you if you need it-- and she's really good about it (she even texts students about what they're struggling with). I definetly recommend her!
Since it's an online class be prepared to read a lot or ask for help. Material isn't too difficult, just make sure you participate in the discussion board posts.
Easiest Math 108 teacher. Take her. If not possible, then wait next semester. Her exams, quizzes and quests are super easy. They pretty much like the reviews. She gives extra credit for catching her mistakes. DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK. You will NEVER EVER use it. Everything comes from her lectures.
Professor Crossin is amazing. If you ask for help she will make time and help. The material is tough but she breaks it down so it's easy to understand. If you are like me and math is not your strong suit I highly recommend taking Prof. Crossin.
Best Math teacher I have ever had. If you don't understand something, she will sit down and explain it all until you get it. She tells you what you need to do to pass. I love math because of her.
This is a class that could be difficult but she really works to make it simple to understand. If you attend class, do the problems along with her, and prepare before the quizzes and exams.
One of the best, if not the best, math teacher I have ever had. If you pay attention in class, practice the problems, and learn the material, this class should be a breeze. She also gives extra credit so make sure you attend class. Highly recommend.
Karen is great. Take her class. She is so willing to help you. If you are struggling GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, she will practice with you until you get it. If i had to take math again, it would be with her.
I LOVED having Mrs. Crossin for calculus. Even though I am not good at math and I hate the subject. She made it interesting to go to class everyday. She was very accesiable and you could tell that she cared about her students. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Best math teacher I have ever had. She made calculus so easy. She gives practice quizzes/exams right before and they are very similar to the actual exams. She's hilarious and super down to earth. I was bad at math but passed her class with flying colors.
I'm really not that good at Calculus. Professor Crossin really made it a lot more understandable though. I wish i wouldn't have skipped so much because then i would have gotten an A for sure.
Professor Crossin is truly as amazing as all of these reviews say she is. Math is my least favorite subject but she actually helped me understand calculus. She truly cares about her students and wants each and every one to learn and understand the material. Also, her lectures are actually entertaining and not boring at all.
LOVED HER! Any person who has ever had trouble in math should take her class. She has a unique teaching style that I receptive to and fought math in ENGLISH and not a way that a non-mathy person can understand. Go to class and pay attention, and you'll be fine! She's also hilarious and for that I really enjoyed going to her class. 10/10 recommend
I took Boyette for 271, but that was a big mistake so I took Crossin for 272. Honestly, she is so amazing. She cares about all her students and is always there if you ask for help. Her study guides are relevant to the exam. There is a lot of homework, but it really does help you understand the material. I would definitely recommend her!
If you're really close to a higher grade, she'll give you that grade. She won't give out C minuses if you're between a 70 and 72 which is helpful so you don't have to retake. Giving out extra credit for correcting mistakes helps encourage class participation. She also has a lot of helpful tricks which can help memorize formulas.
Karen was one of the best professors I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and tries to help them understand the material. She gives out a lot of homework, but it really helps you understand what is going on in class. She also sets up her classes in teams, so you help your classmates learn the material as well. I highly recommend!!!!
There are only two Prof. that teach MATH 271&272 and Prof. Crossin just so happens to be the lesser of two evils. The homework load is ridiculous and no, it did not help me understand the material. People find her insanity amusing but to me she was annoying. She makes you learn the material by yourself and expects you to understand it. Be prepared
Granted, math is my worst subject, but this was the most difficult class I've taken going into Senior year. The homework took forever and I still needed a tutor because the material wasn't clear. She tried to help the class out by giving several extra credit opportunities, but I wish the tests didn't count so much. Allows a half page notes at tests
I loved having her. I was in a hybrid class, so we only met once a week, and the rest was done online. She used a lot of helpful examples in class, and she made a lot of jokes. At the end of the semester, you have a choice on how you want to be graded, and she always hands out practice problems before a test. The quizzes are easy enough.
I love Professor Crossin! She's hilarious and makes math fun. She's also super approachable and caring. I usually hate math but Professor Crossin converted me! She offers little extra credit assignments here and there, and she's always willing to spend time with you to help you succeed. I would HIGHLY recommend her! Her hybrid class is awesome!
I took her online class over the summer, so the material was a lot and very condensed into a month. As long as you do the homework, you will be fine. I have struggled with math since elementary school and was extremely nervous taking math over the summer. I would definitely recommend taking her! Very nice person too.
It's an online course, so everything is put up on BB; tests are taken in-person. There's homework every week, mostly online and some written, but it's easy and not long. The 3 tests are very easy and she gives a practice test before each one that's almost exactly the same as the actual test. Highly recommend taking it as your required math course!
Class was easy over all. Your whole grade is based of your HW basically. and she grades harsh on those. Accuracy matters. Ive gotten A's on every test yet still have a C in the class because of homework. Test looks just like review. Was rude when you contacted her but other than that no problems. Participation matters even though she didnt say
I love Karen! This is the second class I've taken with her and I've enjoyed it. She is always available during office hours and truly cares about her students. She has a bold personality and sometimes gets off topic, but she is so much fun. I've learned so much from her. Take her class.
A great professor. She really went out of the way to ensure everybody in the class learned the material and explained in detail. Very funny and an all around great class that I looked forward to going to
Lets get one thing clear: math is my least favorite thing in the world. Prof Crossin made it easy and enjoyable. I took the online class but she was always available for questions, very kind, & made me somewhat enjoy math! For the summer class it was a few math assignments per week, two online tests, one in person midterm & one in person final
I took MATH106 online and it was particularly easy. The professor lets you have cheat sheets during tests and homework is easy to complete. 5 discussion boards are due throughout the entire semester but they're easy.
This class is hybrid so you spend one day in class a week and the rest is online. There's three paper tests (including the final) and the other two are online. Professor Crossin is a very bubbly teacher and good wake me up for a 9 am course. Going to class is not mandatory since it is online as well but you get 10 easy points for going.
I love her so much! She is lovely and she will help you understand basic math. The work she has you do has a purpose and if you want to be an elementary teacher you will love learning the different styles. Everyone who gave her a bad rating is just salty that they don't know how to do basic math. Seriously, she is very understanding and funny.
She is someone who WANTS to work with students to make sure they understand the material and will pass the class. The discussion board was used to ask questions so other students could help. Her practice tests and homework gave you a good idea of what the tests were going to be like. I loved it.
Such a good prof!! She makes the class bearable (esp if you don't like math) and is super engaging in class. Would DEF take again and I highly recommend!
The class itself is super easy and the professor is really nice. She does tend to go off topic A LOT so prepare for that. Other than that it was a good class.
best teacher at Mason. I never understood math better than after taking her class. she cares deeply for her students and is very willing to work with you!! loved prof crossin, can't thank her enough.
Best math class I have ever had. She is really funny and really helps you learn what you need to know in a non-intimidating way. The focus is on general calc concepts and doesn't try to hit you with super complicated problems for the heck of it. Quizzes and tests are just like problems worked on in class, so there are no surprises.
Professor Crossin is the BEST! I hate math and hated that I needed to take this class but she made it better for me to understand the material because of how she taught it. As long as you pay attention and ask questions when you dont understand or need help she will help out until you understand everything. Take her and you will definitely pass.
She is HILARIOUS. She is just like Oprah when it comes to extra credit. You get extra credit, you get extra credit, you get extra credit! Everyone gets extra credit!
I've had her for MATH 108 and MATH 271, and I'm also taking her again for MATH272 in the Fall. I love her teaching style and I have seriously learned so much from her. The classes aren't too hard or too easy, and she's really found the perfect way to accommodate everyone during a pandemic while still being hands on, which most professors haven't.
I suck at math... however this class was so easy to pass. I learned a lot at the same time. It was the hybrid math class with Hawkes. Professor Crossin is so understanding, willing to extend deadlines and help out. Take her class!!
Perhaps she teaches better in person because this is my worst class this semester. I find her rude and she won't even explain material sometimes when a student asks her for help during the online class. The homework takes hours and the textbook only gives you answers but doesn't explain things step by step. I would take someone else if possible.
I had her for MATH 106 and had a pretty good experience so I decided to take her again for MATH 271. Big mistake. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say everything is different now that its online but man is she one tough grader. If you dont upload with the format she dosent like, she takes sooo many points off. Very unorganized as well.
She is one of the rudest professors I have ever had. Shows no sympathy towards students struggling, even during the big adjustment to online courses this semester. I dread this class not necessarily because of the work, but because of her attitude towards students.
Arent you suppose to be patient to be a math professor? It seems like everything ticks her off. I can honestly say my whole class is not enjoying this.
Karen is my favorite Professor at GMU, period. Her LAs are so helpful with their office hours and she's amazing with giving feedback one-on-one. She's very understanding if you talk to her and she's quick to answer questions or offer office hours when you need her. I would recommend her to ANYONE.
I wasnt too happy to have to take a math class, especially online, but Prof. Crossin made the whole thing as accessible and clear as possible. The discussion groups and the course calendar are both really great tools and I felt really connected with the whole class despite it being asynchronous! An example of an AMAZING teacher adapting to pandemic
Professor Crossin is absolutely the most caring professor I have ever had. Professor Crossin, a math teacher, cares about the mental health of her students. Professor Crossin does EXTREMELY more than the average professor. She want us to understand the material and get a good grade, and she cares for our mental stress.
I'm gonna be honest, I don't know why her ratings are so high - she doesn't teach at all and is horrible with responding in a timely manner. Instead of teaching herself, you learn everything from an online textbook/simulation which can be frustrating. I guess it's a fine class but as a teacher she doesn't help you- so if you need extra help don't..
I took her Math 106 class asynchronous. She's just there to put in grades and does not really teach anything. She responds to email fast and does care about student mental health. Other than that, she doesn't answer math questions and often gets other students or her TA to assist her. Take her if you wanna take MATH106 async and an easy A.
I will give her the benefit of the doubt and say things are hard because of the pandemic plus the class was online but man is she unorganized. She went off topic a lot and often wouldnt answer questions when she asked for them in the first place. Took off points for the smallest things such as not rotating your picture when submitting your hw
Im going to start off by saying i am the worst at math literally the worst. In Ms. Crossins class I found myself finally being able to understand math! Her class wasnt overbearing and she used Hawkes which was easy and extremely helpful to those who need more practice. She genuinely cares about her students and is all for self-care :)
She has been the most caring professor ive had. A very straight forward class and i would take it again. Loved it!
Professor Crossin's course was conducted primarily asynchronously. It was also done using a platform called Hawkes Learning. Each assignment was to read the section and watch videos on how to do certain mathematical elements and then apply them in "certifications." This is one of the easiest math classes that I've ever been in. 10/10 recommend.
Unfortunately, my experience with Professor Crossin was negative. She was very rude when anybody asked her a question and sometimes refused to answer legitimate questions. The homework assignment instructions were vague & she would grade harshly. I have heard she was better in person, and I hope that is the case for the sake of other students.
Professor Crossin is one of the best professors I've ever had at GMU. If you really utilize her office hours, videos, and communicate with her in general you will gain a LOT of knowledge from her. She's very patient and willing to work with students if students are willing to reach out to her and she makes that known from the beginning. 100/10
The class is through Hawkes but I love the layout. You get to learn with notes and multiple examples that have explanation videos, you then get to practice, & do the hw. You do the hw till you reach the % that you need to master it & you get full credit. The exams are easy. She gave us a mini spring break bc we were all burnt out. She cares!!!
COVID- easiest class ever! Do the optional DB early in the semester so u don't have to worry ab them later. 3 tests + 1 Final. All assignments on HawkesLearning. You get to have multiple attempts on assessments. Take notes/make study guides and pass!!! She opens things a week earlier so you can take control of when u want to do things.
honest to god one of the nicest and most caring profs i've ever had. she genuinely cares about mental health, and gave us a spring break to help with burnout. the class is through hawkes, but u can take certifications however many times u need until u pass. also offers optional discussion boards to make the end exam count less. loved this class
I am not the best when it comes to math, but I would 100% take math again if it's with professor crossin. She truly cares for her students. Professor Crossin not only wants her students to succeed academically but also in life in general. She truly cares about their wellbeing and constantly sends emails to remind us we are doing great!
Best math professor I have ever had, definitely up there for one of the best professors I have ever had at a university. Very caring and wants to make sure you are stress free, she adds mental health checks into her calendar so her students can relax. Provides plenty of extra credit and will always answer all of your questions VERY FAST.
I would recommend this course for anyone that considers themself not good at math. This class was asynchronous but, Crossin was easily accessible through email and is always willing to help. Cares about her student's mental health a lot! She has a clear and fair grading policy. Very organized.
Crossin is the best for this course. The bulk of the class is the Hawkins program. There are many chances for extra credit, and she gives 2 ways to get your final grade. There are assignments due every day. Be prepared to be doing assignments from 7am-9pm. 9hrs min a day to get a good grade. 1 day of assignments equals one week during the semester
Shes really nice and this class was made easy because of her. She also genuinely cares about students which is so appreciated! I took it asynchronous but she was always open if you needed help!
Professor Crossin is one the best professors at GMU. She is very understanding about our personal math backgrounds. She will go out of her way to explain concepts during office hours. Highly recommend!
This class was really easy. We had weekly lessons on Hawkes and then some quizzes and three tests. I am really bad at math but was still able to sail through this class. She was always able to help you in person and responded to emails very fast. She really cares about her students doing well.
One of the most supportive teachers that I've had during my entire college career. Extremely, extremely accommodating. If you have a solid and current math background you will do fine, but if you don't she is willing to work with you. One of the best, if not the best, you could have.
I loved Crossin as a professor. She was extremely caring and gave extra credit for anyone that asked. All you have to do to pass the class is to take notes and do your homework. You get multiple tries on homework and quizzes, as well as exams. If you ask for help, you will receive it. One of the easiest and most helpful classes!
Karen is not your typically Karen, but she is one of the most caring professors at Mason. The content is really easy, and she will always be there for you, especially by email. I really enjoyed her class.
Professor Crossin is great. She's really relaxed and understands that math isn't everyone's favorite subject. She's very willing to help and tries to explain things in different ways to help you understand. Had to pay for an online textbook which is where we did everything in the class. Textbook, videos, homework, quizzes, and tests.
I absolutely hate math, and she assumes everybody does too. She makes the class so easy because she allows open notes for tests. Weekly Hawkes assignments are tedious but easy. You only have to go to a number of classes for points. Her TAs are also available all week for help, they are very helpful.
She is chill and her class is easy. She allows two attempts for each tests which is very kind of her but I did not like how we had to go in person for the tests even though the class was online (I don't think that's her fault). Overall, I would say to take her.
The professor is great and the class is fun. There is weekly homework but it's manageable. No reason not to take her, esp if you're looking for an easy A
AWESOME!! I took MATH 106 Asynchronously and ended with an A. I SUCK at math, but this class was slight work compared to any other math. As long as you do the Hawkes modules, discussions (EASY points), and quizzes/exams on top you will do great!!! My only concern was Hawkes was a little annoying to do, but not impossible.
Professor Crossin has an incredible gift for teaching. Her classes seem like play but there is a lot of serious learning going on. I was already an intermediate/advanced student, but I learned something from every class, plus had a lot of fun doing it! Professor Crossin has my highest recommendations.
She is truly the definition of a good teacher, not only does she care for her students, but her class is so easy. She allows you to retake the exams and quizzes too. DB are super easy and she responds to email very quickly, truly a sweet person. The only mistake you can make is not to take her.
Crossin can be off the wall, but it gives her character compared to all the jaded professors out there. Cares about all her students. Gives tons of e.c.. A lot of homework, but don't worry if you can't finish. Flexible office hours and responds to emails accordingly. I haven't taken math in 6 years and started from the ground, She's fantastic!
Prof Crossin made 106 SO easy. They check up on all the students and make sure that you have what you need to succeed. Tests are also super easy and we were allowed to bring notes with us. As long as you do the homework, you're set.
She is truly the best professor I ever had at Mason. She cares about her students and will go the extra mile to help. I was a bit nervous about taking a math course online but she made the course enjoyable and easy. Exams has to be taken at the campus but she gives you 2 tries so that's a big help! I loved this class :)
she is awesome, bounces off the walls with energy. 3 days of office hours a week and responds to emails pretty much all day. If you haven't taken Calculus in high school, it will be a bit of a struggle, but Crossin is very clear in what she expects on tests in terms of the processes, content, and showing work.
she is very good
shes literally awesome. adhd teacher who makes for a fun dynamic. She is also very clear of what's on tests. some of the things she tests on are literally on practice quizzes and just changed numbers. Come to class and office hours, you will be just fine
One of the best professor for this class (especially since its a mason education core). A lot of assignments were online, with discussion boards and weekly quizzes. As long as you know the information being taught, then you are good with the quizzes and classwork.
She is the best math professor ever. I was scared of calc but she made me have fun and interacted a lot. She is super chill and can relate to us students. Always there to help. Plz take her.
The professor responds to any questions and emails almost immediately. She is so sweet and understanding when it comes to work. She will go out of her way to help you and wants you to have the best experience with math. There are lots of options when it comes to help. Overall amazing and would take again.
Textbook comes with the class, and all assignments are through that. Multiple tries on quizzes and tests. Write down practice problems from the assignments and the practice tests, because that is what the quizzes and tests will be on, especially the final. Do assignments ahead of time, they are time consuming. Tests are online and proctored.
PLEASE TAKE HER SHE IS THE BEST! very easy and she always want to help if you need the help plus you get multiple tries on quizzes and tests.
She's an easy prof. The math is like pre-algebra/algebra one. Its mainly just word problems and all done through an online learning site. I took the class in the summer async. Only thing hard was the honor lock web browser didn't work very well, the workload was kinda heavy since it was accelerated.
She created a whole schedule that included self care days, with quiz and hw due dates for the class- she's incredibly kind and understanding. Also the least stressful math class I've EVER taken, self paced and she takes the highest of the two weighted grades- she honestly really just wants you to succeed. If you need to take Math-106 100% take her!
Please do yourself a favor and take her without a shadow of a doubt. She prepared us so well for the next course - Math 124, which I took during the summer and got a good grade. Her lectures are easy to understand and follow. In addition, she will post helpful short YouTube videos for you to better understand the topic.
Professor Crossin is an amazing teacher who makes this math class super easy and engaging. With self-paced lessons, multiple quiz retries, and helpful feedback, she really wants you to succeed. Unstuckstudy AI was a game-changer for my study prep!
funny and sweet! no need to pay for textbooks. lots of practice work that reflects quizzes and tests. exams can be online (locked) or proctored. multiple tries on quizzes and tests. reading articles & discussion in class or online (may have pop quizzes once or twice). extra credit through attendance. overall, great math class!
I will forever remember Professor Crossin for giving me the confidence I need to do well in math. Before her class I was always the student who sucked at math and just accepted that. But after her class I have gained the confidence to learn higher level math and I am enjoying it. If you are someone who is not the best at math, take her class!
Great professor, also the hawking tool is wonderful so easy and she make the grading process easier.
She definitely helped me ease into the college life. If you need to take Math 106, take Professor Crossin. She won't fool you.
Can be a bit unorganized but she's a really great professor who cares about her students. She's very flexible and willing to help.
She is GOATED! Asynchronous course. In-class is optional. No stress on quizzes completion, every day missed is like 1% Off a score of 100%. You have PLENTY of time to get you quizzes and test in. She will email you weekly to remind you where the class is at, and where it's headed. It's very assuring. She extremely flexible with the course itself.
Crossin is an amazing professor. I took math 123 because I was not confident in my math skills. Crossin has made me love math again. She is a compassionate and caring instructor. She has amazing LA's and is stacked on office hours. I would 1000% take her again.
I am terrible at math, but this class is really easy. She uses Hawkes Learning for all hw and tests. It's really easy to use and it kinda forces you to take notes that comes handy during exams since they're open book. She communicates a lot which is a plus. Quizzes have honorlock, but you can use notes.
Class was originally hybrid but she then made attendance optional. You just get a few homeworks/quizzes a week. Super easy though as most have unlimited attempts. Never had an issue with any of her stuff. Definitely take her if you struggle with math! It's very easy for a math class.
She is a bit unorganized, however, she is one of the best professors I have had so far. She takes the time to make sure you understand the work and even gives partial credit when it comes to exams (this saved my grade for the final). It is really hard to fail this class unless you try to.
Professor Crossin is one of the top math greatest professor I've had during my time at Mason. Assignments are easy as well.
Such a kind professor. Genuinely looks out for your best interests when it comes to learning, and is a lot of fun to talk to. Makes learning fun because I took the hybrid course, so I saw her every Tuesday. Overall, she was a wonderful teacher, and I loved learning math from her, despite my usual dislike for the subject.
If you get below a B in her class, it its because you didn't show up. Very hands-on (writing on whiteboards) and has office hours every single day of the week. Super easy to approach and extremely funny, very sociable. Gives extra credit on all homework if it is done 24 hours before it's due, and tests are the same as practice tests.
amazing professor who cares so much for her students success! she is very helpful and responds to emails quickly. the course setup is amazing and very easy to pass. highly recommend!! 10/10
Professor Crossin is an amazing prof. Her classes were easy so long as you watched the videos before hand. If you struggled, her and her TAs are incredibly approachable and accessible outside of class with daily office hours. She can be a bit disorganized, but she also gives partial credit on exams if you are disorganized/ make a small mistake.
Professor Crossin was kind and made class easy for students. All quizzes and exams are open book. You can bring your notes to the exam. There is no stress for this class because her late work policy is if it's more than 2 weeks late you still get 80% on the assignment even if you turn it in really late.
