Horrible class. She was never available for help. Everything is taught at her pace and if you dont get it then you are out of luck. Her tests were impossible and her lab write ups were impossible to get correct. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Run the other direction if you have signed up for it! HORRIBLE!!

Do yourself a Favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR. DO NOT TAKE her for any of your classes, EVEN IF SHE IS THE only teacher teaching the course. The best advise that I ever got in college was to not take her class
Professor Dalton is extremely hard. Her tests are near impossible and she isn't very pleasant. I HIGHLY suggest getting out of her class if you have her. Oh and her final was ridiculously hard.
She is an extremly hard teacher and does not seem to like being interupted for questions. However she does know her stuff and if you like a teacher that never gets off the subject or side tracted then you might do well. I would suggest taking this class ONLY if you are a biology major
Very difficult teacher with extremely difficult tests. She teaches at a pretty fast clip so you have to keep up. Although she's not a very warm teacher she is good at what she does. Be prepared to study a LOT.
shes a TERRIABLE teacher she doesnt care about the students she doesnt care about helping students or answering questions, she gets off on making kids fail. dont take her its not worth it you loose all you money and never get it back. shes hell she doesnt care about anything except getting paid

My whole class hates her guts. I don't really care about the way she teaches because I am passing her class with a with a B+ A so far, but she has a horrible attitude. We got into it the other day and I told her that she was very rude. The next time she bothers me I will be telling her not to try to make me miserable because she is. I can't wait until I graduate and tell her how I really feel.
As a grown woman ( 35) I am APPALLED at the way this lady speaks to her students. She treats everyone like they are a moron even when you have an A in her class...which isn't easy. Very hard tests and a very nasty woman.

Karen was (and is) a HORRIBLE teacher. I HIGHLY recommend dropping her class immediately if you have her as a professor. She is rude and unhelpful and really doesn't care if the students understand the material. She just keeps talking - she definitely likes to hear herself talk.

Gives a great foundation for Biology. Excellent examples. Dalton knows her stuff and teaches it well. Doesn't waste class time. She makes lots of resourses available: lecture outline and powerpoints plus the text. Has office hours as well. Difficult material, but hard to fail this class if you go to the lectures and read over the powerpoints.
This teacher has no personality, and no one ever approaches her due to her unfriendliness. And she wont hesitate to call you names in front of the class.

It was my impression that teachers were supposed to inform, not insult. Students make mistakes; thats how they learn. If a teacher insults a student for trying to learn, that simply goes against the principle of teaching.

Her teaching style is as good as her helpfullness, USELESS!I have never had a worse experience with a professor! If you can learn best on your own, this is the class for you. If you like the teacher to actually help you, do not take this professor.

I had to take her again, the first time i failed because i couldnt keep up with her lecture and when reaching her for help, i got "YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK". So i did and i was right back were i started, so i took her in summer and i did a little better but she makes everything so much harder then it needs to be.

Please don't take Karen Dalton for Bio. 110 or else you will fail the course. She is always failing people every semester (lots of students) fail. Ask anyone on campus and they will tell you how rude and nasty she is. I know I took her twice and failed but the third time I took Ms.Sonja Schmitz and passed. Take Sonja Schmitz for Bio 110, she's good

It's funny reading all these comments from students. It can't more true than that. Please do not waste your time and money because you won't be passing her class anyway. Take Dr. Schmitz. It's not that she passes every single student but at least don't discourage her students and makes the course interesting unlike Ms. Dalton.

The reason you hate Mrs. Dalton is because none of you understand the purpose of STUDYING! You have to Study A LOT to pass this class. She isn't a bad teacher, you are just a bunch of lazy kids who want an easy push over teacher... If, you think she is hard I would hate to see you make it in a 4-year institution.

Unfortunately, Ms. Dalton will do everything in her power to keep you out of her office (by recommending going to the thousand other study materials she piles on you) and likes to definitely keep distance from her students. Refuses to get to know you by name.
Tests were often difficult. But the lectures were very interesting. Lots of insight into how the lesson related to our daily life.
This class is not for people who are lazy. I studied and I passed. If everyone spent more time trying to learn instead of blaming her bad attitude on their bad grades then they would pass too :) I would take a class with her again.

Ms. Dalton is one of the difficult teachers that I have ever taken. She is difficult for no reason. She acts like she gets paid more for making students fail.
All I can say to the people who took her class and thought she was hard is that I hope none of you are planning on going into the nursing program. She says at the beginning of the class that this BIO is recommended for health profession majors. Not for people who are taking it just for the elective.
It is not impossible to get an A in her class but be prepared to work for it. Independent Study is a must. If you think you're entitled to a passing grade just for showing up to class don't take Dalton.
Got A in her class, but she is a miserable person. Watch grade closely b/c she mis-records things and then acts like it was a mistake. Check exams closely b/c even when she knows the Scantron incorrectly marked something wrong, she will not let students know unless they call her on it. She is threatened by intelligent students. Passive-aggressive.
It is not impossible to get an A in her class but be prepared to work. If you think you're entitled to an A simply by showing up don't take Dalton. Go check every test. She will not notify you if the key on her scantron is incorrect.
Her teaching criteria is equivalent to a university level, so if you are planning to enter a university, you wouldn't think she is tough (as rated by many students). Follow her powerpoints; take notes during class; study study study! and you will guarantee at least a B. However, I will not recommend her class for a non-health major.
I passed her class with an A. All i did was print the powerpoints and that is a guide of her lecture. Take good notes and i studied by answering the objective questions in the learning packet. She gives you reviews at the end of every unit. If you put the time in this class you will get the grade you want. If you dont study, you wont get the grade.

She is garbage , she does not care for her students at all this is General Biology and she treats it like some graduate level course , She will make you feel stupid , and bring down your self esteem , she is a faliure of life idont know why she is still teaching

BIO110 This professor lectures like you should already know chemistry & biology.When asking a question she tells you if you don't understand to go to one of the tutoring sessions set up thru the student learning center. I would not recommend having her as a teacher. Her test questions are written to almost confuse you.
I like this class and am learning more than I ever thought I would. Dalton is not easy, but she gives you lots of material to study for the tests (a good thing). SHE DOES NOT WRITE THE TEST QUESTIONS, so it is good that she is so thorough.

HARDEST CLASS EVER. lots of material, not alot of grades 5 exams, 5 essays, 1 final. she is uninteresting and doesn't seem to have any interest in her students she almost seems to enjoy not connecting with them and telling them their wrong. doesnt relate material well seems unapproacable. find another teacher this class is a waste of money to fail.
I did manage to get an A in this class with her. Not much of an A though, the final is extremely difficult (borderline impossible). The key to succeeding in this class is to attend every lecture, review sessions with Christine, and study groups. Unless you are academically talented, I wouldn't recommend her class for bio 110.
Just like any part of school, effort and time was required in this class, but if you have your head in the game and your studious, Dalton will give you the A that you earned. Don't expect to pass a college biology class without putting in any effort. A+ teacher.
Mrs. Dalton is VERY hard. If you like Biology then it might be less stressful, but even the smartest person in the class has to work their hardest in order to get a DECENT grade. If you show you care and do your work, you will be fine. But you REALLY have to work your butt off. Be prepared to work HARD.
teaching style is robotic, lectures like an auctioneer, when you ask questions you're told to go to tutor sessions. Gives essay questions with grading that is subjective, hard to listen to, tests are extremely difficult, but all information covered and learned has been extremely helpful in AP220. would not recommend her as a teacher.
Her class is hard, and it requires a lot of studying, and she isn't very personable or nice. That being said, she does a good job of explaining the information. For any nursing major, she definitely prepares you for the rest of your science classes. Just be prepared to study. A lot.

WOW! Even though she's super hard and requires 40+ hours of studying she's not that bad. She does allow you to ask questions, not many but you can ask... as long as you read the book and go to the study group your be fine. THE NOTES she gives on the board dont make any sense once you look back on them so bring a recorder :)

Good teacher. You have to attend review sessions. Not necessarily the best class to take during a summer session unless you have nothing else to do.
Everyone is so hard on her. She's not very approachable, but she knows her stuff! Don't ask her a question if you haven't done the work, but if you are doing your work, she'll help you. She just doesn't waste any time on nonsense. She'll give you everything you need to pass the class. You just have to study and pay attention to her. I say A+.

If you can take another teacher you should. Do not invest your time and money unless you are the kind of student teachers have wet dreams about. This class is extremely challenging...she does NOT make the content easy to comprehend. Can come off as extremely rude and will yell at you as if in elementary school. Must study ATLEAST 12 hours/week. No home/classwork just 5 difficult exams each w/ a takehome essay and your final exam worth a large chunk of grade. Try to avoid if at all possible
Awul experience, this class took over my entire life. Must study constantly. Lectures and power points are confusing. Our class started large and barely a dozen and half of us were left at the end, it was like survivor, count yourself lucky if you can make it to the end the first time around. Teacher was horrible. I got a B but it nearly killed me.
She is a very difficult, unapproachable professor who does not welcome questions in the lecture hall. Half the class dropped. I stayed in just so I would have labs completed and be ready for retaking the course. I recieved a B with the next professor. I was even told by an advisor not to take Daulton but it was too late.

This teacher will not be helpful and will treat you like a 2 year old. I have never had a professor like this before. She explains things well in lecture, but not completely. She leaves alot out and assumes that you will pick it up on your own. She has a horrible attitude and will be rude and yell at you if you ask her a question. Do not take.
I can't believe she is still teaching given her track record & drop rate. She needs to revise teaching strategies, attend professional development or something! Don't take her for any sciences unless you enjoy being tortured & lectured to like an auctioneer announcing bids. no one has time for her study group sessions when she gets paid to teach.

I had this professor for my BIOL 110lab class. In my opinion, the professor has some knowledge about the class, but she can't teach her students effectively. In the beginning of the semester, there were about 30 students in her class, but only 5 students were left at the end. Only few students passed the lab course due to her poor ways of teachings
im only two weeks in and im having a hard time.
she was terrible... I signed up for a different teacher but I still ended up with her for lab and she was horrible..i had to drop so it won't mess with my financial aid.
She is actually a really good teacher. She is difficult and holds her students to high standards, but doesn't put anything on tests she didnt't warn you about. The ones complaining about her are the ones who did not do ther part in her class. I cannot say I would recomend her for the lab portion though.Great lecture teaching style
Please do not take this professor. Eventhought, she tries to help with group quizes. It's kind of hard to understand her test and she always has an attitude problem and she does not do reviews for the test if she is done with her lectures. I personally think there are other professor who will make it easier to understand and treat you with respect.

She is NOT that hard. Listen in lecture, go home & study, do all the practice and LEARN. She's not trying to be your friend; she's your teacher. Her tests are comprehensive so there's no way to get around studying EVERYTHING in the unit. Study TOO much for the 1st test until you grasp her testing style. Be diligent and you will pass. I got an A.

Dalton is a well rounded Biology teacher. I say that only if you are willing to put in numerous hours to study each week, review the spiral book, and come to lecture. I've met with her numerous times this semester and always feel welcomed and we talked about things other then the class. (1/2)

Depending on the student, you can love her style or you hate it. I would take another Biology class with her any day. Gives you chance to score higher on tests. SO fair..
Dalton is a hard teacher, there is not doubt about it. However, she is very straight forward as to what she is testing on. She requires that you have the "Lecture and Lab Manual" Which lays out her objectives for each test. I did fine in the class but I went to tutoring every week. You can't screw around and do well. You have to want it.
Although Ms Dalton is well rounded in the subject, she does not make the class interesting. Her demands are very high. I must say that this is not a class for the weak. The drop out rate is very high. The class took so much from me. I never missed a class, I listened, took notes. My overall score still came to 797 out of 1000 which was still a C.
Do not take this course with her. She is horrible. I have asked for assistance from her but she was totally useless. She told me how I should study for her tests, I did and still failed. She is not willing to help at all. Her lectures are so boring that you want to fall asleep. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR BIO 110
Took this class with Dalton the first time and barely passed with a C. She wasn't helpful and on some of her online quizzes had the wrong answer checked in the answer key. Her tests were sometimes hard due to her grammar and spelling mistakes. Re-took with another teacher at Dundalk and passed with an A. Learned a lot more from the "easier" teacher
She was a hard teach for me the first month of class because i could not follow her lectures but after that i stopped studying the wrong way with the help of my father and the class became SUPER easy for me. On one test i got a 49/50 which boosted my grade. I was so happy and could jot believe it! She also offers SO MUCH extra credit like 60points
I took this class in Spring 2013 and failed! Ms Dalton will not assist you and is not easy to talk to! She is very rude and in no way personable!!! I recorded her lectures, wrote everything she wrote, dropped all my other classes (so I could study properly) and still failed. DO NOT TAKE KAREN DALTON'S BIOLOGY 110 CLASS!! YOU WILL BE SORRY!!

Horrible teacher....run if you see her. Very rude and condescending. Will not help when students ask for it. Out of 40 students that started with me only 5 passed the class, that should tell you something.
She does give "extra credit" points, but to be frank, her teaching style would be ok if it came with a better understanding. I found myself studying for her style of tests (looking for the "gotcha" questions) instead of worrying about the big picture. I did fine, but would probably have learned just as much from a nicer teacher.
I got a C in her class, she is very hard to understand, everything on her labs have to be absolutely 100 percent perfect for you to do well. Lets just say at the end of her class there were only 3 there to take the final. Drop it while you can.

Without a shadow of a doubt the worse teacher to ever teach the subject. Not only was she rude but she was also not willing to help anyone. I did not feel comfortable in her class and I followed all the rules and did all the studying. She is a sorry excuse for a teacher. She may have knowledge of the subject but she has no knowledge of how to teach
She knows her stuff, but if you dont you need to study like learning a new language. She is very short and difficult. She is very hard but in the end it will pay off. You will know biology like a new language.
Biology 110 is a hard course. Dalton teaches military style. No excuses. Tests are hard even though they are multiple choice because some of the questions have 2 correct answers so it is tricky.Best advice, record the lectures and study prior to class to have a bit of an understanding what is going on.Passed with a low A, but put my life into it.

Professor Dalton is a by the book teacher. You have to come to class ready to learn and outside of class you have to eat , sleep, and think biology. I struggled in this class because I'm more a visual learner and all she did was lecture 95% of the time. I would say that biology isnt an easy subject and Professor Dalton prepared me for the worse.
She is the worst teacher i had so far. if you can don't take her class. if you are taking the class DROP IT!
Does not have the most personable demeanor, but still teaches decently well. Took a lot of work for me to get a good grade, so it helps to attend as many lectures and recitation classes as you can and do some of the practices in both the chemistry and her own authored lecture workbooks. She does drop your lowest grades, so that helps.
This woman is not winning any personalty awards. She is a tough lady and expects a lot from her students. She is not warm and fuzzy and she does not mess around. That being said, she knows what she is talking about and is very helpful if you apply yourself. I had a great experience, but many of my classmates didnt like her on a personal level.
Professor Dalton is straight to the point, does not care for tardiness and foolishness. She gives you what you need to pass, it is up to you to study. "You can take a horse to water but you can't make them drink." She is a very informative professor that writes her own books for the class.
Print out your PowerPoints prior to class, to take notes. Join a group tutor session at least once per week. Study, study, study and get in a study group and you will do fine. It is a lot of material. You are responsible for your success not your professor, this is college!!
Absolutely the worst teacher I have ever experienced. Out of 30 that started the class, only 6 were left at the final exam. Teacher is extremly rude,arrogant & condescending. Her test are mostly "trick questions. " Her labs are terrible. You're on you're own as far as lab work. Her lab instructions are neglegable. Read all the older reviews drop
Tough teacher. During lab if you do something wrong she can be mean when telling you it's wrong.
HORRIBLE! The worst teacher I have ever had and I'm very tolerant. She is short tempered and unwilling to help. She talks down to her students and makes them feel beneath her. The class started with 26 and ended with five! People fear her. She doesn't seem to want to see her students succeed. Shouldn't a teacher want her students to succeed?
Dalton will not let you ask questions in lecture. 80% of her students end up dropping Dalton's class. The longer the class goes, the more people drop Dalton. Her attitude twords her students is schocking!!. She will not explain lab procudures. I still can't beleive any college level proffessor would talk down to students in the manner Dalton does.

RUN !!! Worst teacher I have ever had. Idc what anyone says, Bio110 is not a hard class unless you have Professor Dalton ! She does not allow questions in class, she is very rude and unfriendly. Tests questions are trick questions. She has no sympathy for anyone, I locked my keys and my books in my car one day and she would not let me into class.
Runs her class like daycare inside a concentration camp. Makes u turn phones completly off, phones cant be on vibrate, doesnt allow for questions during lecture, cant use bathroom during test. She is unusually mean to all her students most dropped the class eventually. DONT TAKE DALTON U WILL REGRET IT WORST TEACHER EVER. she has a cool mullet tho.
She is actually a great teacher! She is very strict but she is a no BS type of teacher. She explains biology very well and you can tell she loves it! She does care about students and answers questions. She might seem unapproachable but she is! I had to drop but for personal reasons! Show up, Study Do not take her class unless you want a challenge!
I've never had to drop a class until now. She doesn't care if you pass or fail. She goes to work does her job and goes home. Exams seem like they have nothing to do with anything learned in class. I got help from a tutor and still failed assignments. Takes off points for not putting the test number.
Terrible peoffessor. Daltons class is more about misery then biology. Biology is pretty dense material. Dalton makes the material much tougher then it needs to be. Professor Dalton is rude, arrogant and abrasive. Those are just her good qualities. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a "profffesonial" . Professor Dalton doesnt allow questions during lecture. Her tests are full of questions that are awekwarldy pharased, combined with grammatical errors & trick questions formula for failure.
She has been teaching for so many years she is not interested in helping her students to learn or pass her class . Her grading is HORRENDOUS! because she does NOT give the points for the amount of work and effort students have done. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS TO ANYONE.
Really odd teaching style. Seems like she's angry @ her students all the time, like everyone did something to offend her on a daily basis. Not at all aproachable to ask questions. It seems like she takes questions from students as a personal affront to what she just finished explaining. She has a bad attitude to everyone. Take anyone else !!
Worst teacher ive ever had. Dont bother to ask questions you will get yelled at for doing so. Test are impossible, lab quizzes are graded hard. boring lectures doesn't care if you fail.
Dalton is a ridiculous grader who takes off petty points for wrong units, not filling out the scantron the way she wants you to, etc. There are bonus point opportunities but she is not personable and does not care if you fail. I asked her advice on how to study better, and she just told me to "study harder." She is very rude and condescending.
Dalton seems to savor when her students struggle, as she can offer no better advice then "study harder. "Her tests are phrased so awkwardly that it's hard to just decipher the question ur being asked. She yells at students that ask questions during class. She refuses to clarify lab instructions, u get yelled at for asking questions in lab also.
Yelling at students because they have a question shouldn't be deemed fair. Professor Dalton definitely knows what she's doing, but her teaching methods aren't for working students, parents, or anybody doing anything extra outside of school. You have to eat, sleep, and think biology 24/7 with her or passing is pretyy much impossible.
Not really approachable and seems to teach the class like every body is suppose to know the material.

She knows her stuff, but she is really tough. Biology is already a tough subject and Dalton makes it worse by throwing in the curve ball questions on her test. I don't recommend you take her. She honestly scared me.
