An easy class due to how she grades, etc, but not a very good teacher. Has trouble with eye contact, always has to be right, we often question her being correct. But all in all....a very easy class with a teacher you can deal with
Very exciting class. Professor made us think and played "devil's advocate". Many students misinterpret this as the teacher having to be right.(unfortunate for them) Professor demonstrated many of the concepts taught in the class through her tea
Enjoyed her class very much, no problems with open discussion in class which made learning and understanding so much easier than a straight up lecture. I would definitly recommend her class.
Don't take her class to early-you'll fall asleep during videos, do hmwk & notes, easy grading, she let's u retake test w/book.
She is really easy. Her grade system gives EVERYONE a chance no matter how hard they are struggling. Doesnt give enough time on group assignments, but makes up for it in other areas. Videos are kinda boring, but easy.
I enjoyed her class.I would take her again if I had to. She didn't spend a lot of time on class lectures, but her grading system is off the chain and she is extremely fair.The videos were out-dated, but overall she was clear on what was to be expected and she is REAL.Take her class!!!!
ok...i dont think anyone could fail this class...i was not likeing it at first then it hit me you have to agree with her... for she grades you so if you want an easy A take the class...i dont even have to take the final and i will still have an A...like that one guy said off the chain
Very EASY. she tells you exactly what pages to study in your book. she goes over all material very good. She grades by points and gives you more than enough chances to make an A. You dont have to take the final if you dont want to. EASY A!!!!
She grades on a point system otherwise it would be hard to pass the class. As long as you show up and do the assignments you will pass the class.
The only way you'll fail her class is if you don't show up. This is a very easy course. She grades based on points & she actually gives you more points than you need to make an A without even having to take the final. I recommend taking her class to everyone.
Mrs. Douglas contradicts herself and the book and refuses to listen to her students at all. I was warned against her too late, but since have found out that even other teachers are aware of how hard she is. Only 2 people out of all of her classes passed the first test. The people that said they could miss the final and get an A lied- you have to get 93% of the points available in order to get an A in the class, and everyone who gets 76%-92% gets a 3.0. So you get a B even if you get 92% of the available points... the same grade as someone who got a 76.
If you are goin to take this prof, if she should even be called that, make sure you memorize the ENTIRE book. She doesn't make her own exams, which means that every little details counts, and most of the time she doesnt know what she is talking about. You have been warned.
easy professor if you are willing to put the effort to read the chapters. she is fast paced and has a really awesome grading system. she gives you the page # in the book where she will get the test questions from so its not like you are not gettting any help. people just need to have iniative to study.

I took Dr. Douglas' class when I first started at SAC. I was interested in psychology, but I wasn't when I left her class. She was rude, and was not helpful to the students at all. She made me feel like I wasn't smart at all. She grades on a point system, but it is not an effective one. Bottom line, do not take this teacher.
shes very unorganized and late, her point system is easy if you take the time to read but she doesnt really teach much.
The only reason she's easy is because she gives you page #'s to study. Her lectures have little to do w/ the test.She's always late and she is very RUDE. She makes you feel STUPID when you ask questions and then gets mad because you don't ask anymore.She will indirectly insult you and your abilities in front of everyone.

Didn't mind her lateness because it gave us time to finish homework and compare notes. The lectures were a little on the underwhelming side, but Psych is interesting in itself and left me with a positive attitude toward the class and prof. This class is easy if you just show up.
Has a great point system that almost guarantees an A. A little late sometimes. Likes to give days off to study for tests. Sloppy lecture notes though. A lot of reading but not unusual for college. Read and you'll past the tests. About average for college. Worth a try.
Doesnt make contact during lectures. Messy lecture notes. Can't miss a class. Gives a lot of time and help to study for test. She works on a point system that is easy. Makes people feel stupid if they don't answer her question right. all in all she's not that bad.
She is a good teacher. She gives you many chances to gain points towards your grade. Just make sure that you read your assiged readings and attend class and you'll be fine.
She never looks at the class when she talks and uses a lot of filler words. Sloppy lecture notes, but AWESOME point system!!
She tells you exactly what is needed to pass her exams and make an A in the class. The lecture notes aren't that great but read the textbook and do the assignments, no problem passing the exams. Love the point system! If you fail her class, it's ALL ON YOU!!
if you are taking the summer course i t goes by quickly and there is a lot of work involved. Her expectations are a little high for such little amount of time, but she does highlight and identify alot of what will be on the test and assignments.
I thought she was fair. You really do have to read all the chapters. Homework was easy. Sometimes we questioned her answers, but she didn't write the text. She is tough but if you do the work your sure to pass. I thought I'd make a "B" I got an "A"!! I would take her again. She must be getting better about the eye contact or I didn't notice.
Horrible and mean. Do not take her online class - stay away!!!
very fair, will admit when she has made a mistake on a test. Students were wondering about her little use of eye contact, but it was explained away when someone asked her about it. Very helpful and supportive. If you are eager to get an education, Ms. douglas is a good choice.
DR. DOUGLAS IS GREAT!! SHE WORKS ON A POINT SYSTEM, SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU GOT WRONG ON AN ASSIGNMENT, INSTEAD YOU CONCENTRATE ON YOUR POINTS EARNED. SHE DOES PLENTY OF GROUP WORK, WHICH HELPS TO MAKE MORE POINTS. I WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE HER AGAIN!!
Grades by point-scale system. HW assignments are easy points; group work is time limited, though. She'll give the page #s to study for the tests. Just keep up with your points & text readings and this Professor's class is an easy A!
Do not take her web class. She's extremely rude and always defensive when you e-mail her. Intensive reading in this web class. She's not too eager to help when she assigns reports and assignments. Too bad she's the only professor who teaches Social Psych at SAC!!!!
This class is really easy, it may not seem like it at first, but she goes off of a point scale. Every assignment is points added to your final grade. As long as you read and do a good job on the class assignments, you are good!! Even the final is points added on to your final grade!! She is a bit hard to understand though.
Point system makes passing the class very easy. As long as you keep turning in assignments and doing group work, you will pass her class. It is very easy to get an A.
OK teacher, not great at lecturing. Great point scale, homework very helpfull with understanding the book chapters (DO YOUR READING!!). Lots of class/group work. Do all your work and should not have any problems passing this class.
I TOOK HER FOR GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY ONLINE. SHE ALWAYS EMAILED THE ANSWERS TO MY QUESTION VERY QUICKLY. YOU DO HAVE TO READ THE CHAPTERS. JUST MARK YOU BOOK UP AND YOU WILL DO FINE. I TOOK HER FOR A SUMMER CLASS.

Breeze, took for online course this summer, read the book, highlight major points and take the test. Point system is great!
Loved her! She answered any questions. Took this online so it is pretty much a self taught class, lots of reading but interesting stuff. There are weekly timed exams so you need to take notes as you read.I made an A.
You have to read the book and the chapters every night. She makes the course one of your highest priorities. For a general psych course it was pretty time consuming. I had to work hard to earn an A.
Took online course. Prof does NOT respond to emails at all. Quizzes for each chapter are 30 minutes timed for 20 questions delivered one at a time with NO returning back to previous questions. Course is self-taught, professor is unreliable. This is my major and I hated the class. Would not take her again.
Very difficult if you don't study. I corrected info she said in class & she hated me since then. Singled out students at times. For the final, even if u have an A in the class & u scored below a certain grade you still wouldn't get an A. & no matter how hard u try on the final if you don't hit a certain point u don't get an A for your final grade
This professor taught very well, she had a well organized curriculum. She based her assignments strictly from the text, as long as you read, there is no reason you shouldn't do well in this class. She was very helpful when we had questions, I had a great semester!
Though the online course is one of the easiest i have ever taken, issues to come into play with the tests. Many a time, I found myself looking at a question with 2 completely logical answers, but one being right over the other for no good reason. The absence of a back button can also be ridiculously upsetting, but other than that, i reccomend her.
Studying is required in Her class. I think sometimes she forgets what it is to be a student. BUT her grading system is awesome yes you have to make a 60 on her final to VALIDATE your grade, but statistically there shouldn't be any problem. YOU WILL HAVE TO READ the Chapters in this class BUT the repercussions are definatley worth it, and WILL SHOW.
She is super cool! Honestly, you really dont need to read every page in every ch. She gives you the page #'s to the questions that are on the test. There is alot of "group work" and extra credit so if you just come to class and participate there is no reason not to pass with at least a B. I made an A, and I chilled half the semester.
Completely remiss the first half of the semester. Will not be involved until atleast the 4th week (in a Flex Class!). Then is likely to pretend to be big help just before the survey comes around. Sorry but shes just plane rude and not so helpful. Atleast its an internet course and you dont have to deal with her in person.
Dr. Douglas is a great teacher. She is very challenging. You will need to study to make a decent grade. She lays out the law on the first day and keeps her rules, which frustrates slacker students. Her grading system is awesome. Just study, participate in class and do your work, and you will be fine.
Without cussing, she has gotta be one of the most condesending professors in SAC. I literally had to march to the dept. Dean to show him some of the disparaging emails she sent to me. She used the course compass and not BBV. Even after I droped and went to another prof. she was still harrasing me with emails. Dont take her. Very Very Rude
VERY disappointed in this professor. The PSYC dept should definitely have more than one prof who teaches social psyc. She writes really, really poor quiz/test questions. I thought teachers were actually supposed to be interested in helping students. I did not find that quality in her.
taking this course online in the summer, it sucks. There is WAY too much work and psychology is not even my major, 3 chapters per week with 5 quizzes per chapter which totals to 15 quizzes is totally fair...NOT.
Although, she might be a little rough around the edges, she is an "ok" teacher. You will definitely have to read each and every single chapter, but this is college people, what did you expect. I got an "A" in her class and it wasn't difficult, just go to class and study.
Dr. Douglas is awesome. She makes clear her rules and shows consistent grading throughout the year. Class lectures are a little hard to take notes on, but as long as you read EVERY chapter and do the easy hmwk, you'll pass. She gives pg # for test questions so there's no reason to fail. She's fun if you joke around with her, awesome outfit everyday
Internet course, have never found her to be rude. I like working on my own. I think BBV needs improvement.There are a lot of quizzes, but they're not that long! The time limit on them hurt though.Straight from the book. You HAVE to READ ALL material. I'd recommend if you don't need your hand held. ;)
As others have said do not take the online web class. Professor is rude and snarky in her replies to emails. Uses Wileyplus which doesn't help the students wallet. It needs a specific code to access all of the work so don't count on borrowing a book.
NOT HELPFUL AT ALL DON'T TAKE! Taking the online class right now. Using development portal. There is a TON of work. Like 3-6 video activities for every chapter that's supposed to be 10-20min but actually more like 30-45 and 2-3 learning activities that take about 10 mins ea. You have to read EVERY chapter. DONT TAKE HER ONLINE COURSE. Rude too.
Rude, not helpful and takes forever to respond. Im in her online class. She expects you to do ALOT of work. If u have no life or other classes this one should be ok otherwise.... Stay clear!
Worst class and professor I've ever had. Don't take her online course. You will regret it. An unreasonable amount of work. You will fall behind in your other class trying to get everything for this one done. She is rude IF she answers your emails. HORRIBLE TEACHER. TRULY AWFUL
She was rude every time I asked for anything. She gives terribly worded instructions and gets mad if you ask for clarification. I strongly discourage anyone from taking her class. I don't believe that she deserves to teach.
Took her online in the summer and it was crazy.I know summer classes are intense but this lady did not care.Covered seven chapters a week, about five quizzes in each chapter.Got an A but it was not because of her, I read my eyes out every single day of that month.This course was horrible. I've taken online summer courses before and flex online.
Professor Douglas is a decent professor. She isn't as bad as everyone makes her out to be, at least I didn't think so. She just expects you to study and put effort into any papers you do. One quirky thing everyone in class used to notice was the way she always stared at her hand when she lectured.
Extremely rude and condescending professor. She does not respond to emails in a timely manner and offers little guidance/direction when she does answer. She seems bothered by you and makes you feel as you are wasting her time. Be prepared to read the entire textbook and take MULTIPLE quizzes every week! This is a very time demanding class!
Online self-directed, you have to read the book. It's really up to you if you want to learn and do well or just get a decent grade and not learn. Not sure if Prof Douglas knows how to use the online blackboard/instructure because assignments were not in order. I would take this class again.
While the online class was easy just complete the assignments I had to provide proof the that I did the assignments to get my correct grade. She doesn't respond to emails in a quick time frame and I had to contact the dept head office to get a response.
Professor Douglas didn't grade assignments in a timely fashion so you were always left wondering and she didn't give comments as to why she didn't give you the full amount of points. You have to read and memorize the chapters if you want to pass the quizzes and these are 50+ page chapters! All in all I would not recommend taking her class.
Great instructor. Crystal clear about her expectations. I had her for Gen Psych and Lifespan. Would take her again in a heartbeat. It's entirely up to you if you want an A.
Took Dr. Douglas Developmental Psychology during the summer and it was super easy. Only negative I can say is she didn't grade the one and only writing assignment in a timely manner, but still recommend her class.
Terrible she is not helpful when a student doesn't understand she is very harsh and makes them feel very stupid. Maybe she is better online but I had her for in person but in my opinion she was not a very good teacher. I can say I do not feel like I had a chance to connect with the material because it was not taught very well.
DO NOT TAKE!She is unhelpful and super rude if you ask her a simple question she gives you a condescending answer and makes you feel stupid. She doesn't make things clear and there are way too many quizzes the last few weeks you will have two a day. I really feel like she sets people up for failure
Karen Douglas was a good lecturer but we have weekly chapters to read and weekly (sometimes twice a week) quizzes. The quiz questions came from a question bank, and she didn't check the questions over before putting them on the quiz! A lot of times the questions wouldn't make sense. But, the one group presentation was easy, if you got a good team.
She doesnt really email you about anything, excpet to tell the entire class if your not doing your work then to drop. Her way of grading is really confusing and she is kind of rude.
I did not like this professor at all, she's rude, condescending, and belittling to her students. She never actually gets to the point of what she's trying to say, so understanding anything in her class is really difficult, and then she makes you feel stupid for not understanding and having to ask questions. I would never recommend taking her class.
As im sure she loves what she does, her teaching method was not for me. If you are a self learner then you will be bored in this class. Read the book and follow the online assignments and you will pass. This is part of my major and i didnt learn anything from the teacher. Also, READ THE SYLLABUS, explains her grading style.
This class is pretty much self pace, but if you get behind it will be hard to recover. Try to complete a test a week.
Took this class online. Very straight forward. At the end of each week four chapter tests were due along with four separate responses to each chapter. She allowed for the test to be taken twice keeping the highest of the two grades. The final exam could only be taken once. Commit to reading the book. She has no problem answering questions.

She uses a point system that confused most of the students. We had quizzes everyday over the chapters. Tests weren't too hard but she did provide one extra credit assignment.
Prof was rude and condescending. Asked for help on multiple occasions and felt like she was annoyed that I had any questions in an online course. She did not communicate effectively and gave short notice of deadline changes. Overall the class was neither challenging nor helpful and was generally unpleasant. Would not recommend.
She is a very nice teacher but you defiantly cannot slack in her class. Quizzes were given every week so reading was a must and so was attendance.
Dr. Douglas is so helpful! I had a mishap with the textbook company, they put me in the wrong class. For 5/8 weeks was working on the WRONG material. Annoying but she was understanding and gave me an extension for the material to be turned in! 1 paper, online quizzes/tests. Read and TRY and you'll be fine! Very respectful/responsive. TAKE HER!
I took the online spring course and it was easy. Yes, you will have to read the whole book, but it's interesting information. The test and quizzes were simple and easy if you read the chapters. She answered all my questions in a timely manner. She uses a point system instead of grades, which I actually liked. I would take her again.
The only reason I gave this professor a 4 was because of her lack of communication and her assignments were not clear 70% of the time. I took her online class ( I recommend if you want an A) I passed with an A because I did all the work on time, that's really all you have to do. Not hard at all, can be confusing at times that's all.
I took her online social psych class, and the class is just reading the book and doing homework out of it. There's about 3 or 4 chapters w/ approx. 4 assignments eahc due in a month. It can be a lot, but just pace yourself and do things early and you can get everything done. However the stuff that you read is really interesting and eye opening.
I took her for summer online, she was easy to get a hold of and has all your work put up the first day just don't wait till last min to do work. She gave plenty of time to do final and quizzes. I also had two discussion papers to write that are around 6 paragraphs. Overall an easy class, make sure you do work in a timely manner.
Theres a lot of chapters to get done at one time but she gives plenty of time to get them done. Kind of slow on grading and was rude when i messaged her regarding my grades not syncing

on line class. Limited communitcation. If you email she will responds 8a-5p M-F. Asked to correct double assignments in grading section, informed she couldn't figure it out and not to worry aobut it. NO teaching at ALL. Read the book, do the work in the book, take the quizzes. IF you want take a class to get it over well here you go.
Lots of reading. Lots of unnecessary post-test that have a lot of questions that aren't on test. Lots of work but she gives you enough time to finish it all. Easy discussions, easy A. Do your work and you'll pass!
I had to take Dr. Douglas via zoom due to the pandemic, but its not that difficult. There is a lot of homework but its very easy. You get questioned over chapters you have to read. Much reading but easy to understand! Id have her again as a prof
The final is 50 questions, but the review for the final is 20 questions. If that isn't a setup for failure I don't know what is.
Might as well have not even been a professor for the course. Book is left leaning (as almost all psychology textbooks are), no student interaction unless you initiate or her WIL modules, which prove to be a chore. Might as well teach the course yourself. Be weary of taking her if you lack self-discipline. You'll likely get behind and fail.
I don't think Dr. Douglas even knows where she is going with a sentence. I wish attendance wasn't mandatory because her lectures are almost useless. She does give a lot of time between tests to complete the homework, and the tests aren't that hard. Be prepared to teach yourself the entire course. She's nice, but babbles about nothing really useful.
Unclear assignment instructions. Lectures do not follow the textbook and are all over the place/nonsense. In-person class is 100% waste of time. She made odd assertions & off-topic connections regarding slavery (I am POC btw). All grades come from online Connect work, easy but takes time. She can be condescending towards questions & opposition.
Dr. Karen Douglas is a unique professor here at San Antonio College (SAC). The classes were just chatting and students putting in their opinion for each chapter. There was also mention on several occasions of politics. Made you feel bad for your own political opinion. Other than that I enjoyed the class.
Douglas almost doesn't touch on the contents in the text book and doesn't present any slides. While i enjoy the discussion there is too much of it. i wish she didn't grade attendance because her “lectures” are practically useless. you are basically teaching yourself the entire subject. good luck.
Simple assignments if you stay on task.
Dr. Douglas is excessive in her assignments that she does not prepare you for. It's as if she does it for job rather than wanting to teach. If you expect to be taught anything and actually learn, don't take this class. She is very aggressive and takes anything as an attack on herself if you question anything or have issues in the class. good luck.
Dr. Karen does not teach or prepare you for anything. She is VERY condescending & is not helpful at all. I learned nothing in this class. She got defensive & mad when I mentioned that the survey questions per chapter were not as described in syllabus. 1 part had up to 8 questions & there were up to 65 parts. Just imagine with all the other work.
