Very organized, extremely patient, excellent math teacher! Homework is fair and on-topic, instruction is THOROUGH.

She is great. She is always willing to help you out...all you need to do is ask. The workload isn't too bad considering it is a math class. She even lets you use an index card on tests.
Outstanding math teacher. Very helpful. Very fair. Willing to work with you if you are willing to try. Highly recomend.
GREAT instructor. I have struggled in math since the sixth grade and her class was the first time I got an A. Teaches math step by step and doesn't rush through it.
As far as math goes I think that most people agree its not easy. I really liked that we were allowed to bring a sheet of notes for the tests. Takes away any testing fear. As long as you actually did the homework you should have no problem passing.
Great teacher! She makes sure you understand the subject even in a summer class. I could only imagine a class during a semester. Take any class with this instructor you won't be let down!Cheat sheet on every test. Do the homework because it is the test.
There are only a handful of good math teachers here, and she's one of them.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Offers extra credit and makes it easy to learn. Very nice person and I enjoyed the class.
I took Karen's 115 class in fall 2002. She is one of the best math teachers I ever had. She tells you what you have to know, instead of all the extra crap that is added. Also she lets the students write the final, from problems from the book. She's very fair in grading. And finishes every problem asked
What else can be said. She as an awesome teacher. Very patient and nice. Easy to talk to and very helpful. If you aren't a math person this is the class to take. She explains everything very thoroughly. If you are a math person, take her anyway. awesome person.
best math teacher i have ever had! very good lectures, very clear and helpful. lets you use notes on tests, but studying is still necessary.
This is the BEST math teacher I have ever had!! I am no good at math, and usually become very frustrated, but she is very helpful and funny. The homework is LIGHT and the tests ate nothing to stress over. I would take her again in a heart beat.
Karen was the best math teacher I've ever had. She tells you everything you need to know and isn't afraid to help! Test are straight from the homework! Do the homework, come to class, get a decent grade on the tests and you'll pass with an A. Even lets you have notes for the test! Pick Karen for sure!
She was very nice and very helpful! She gives a daily quiz which is one question from your homework. And it is worth 3pts. 1 for getting your name right, 1 for just writing something down, and 1 if you get the answer right! Her tests will a little hard but if you study you should have no problem! You should definately take her if you can!
She was by far the best math teacher I have ever had. She helps you with worksheets and homework. I liked how she gave examples of every kind of problem there was in the book so you wouldn't be confused on the homework. You have to take her!
Shes way nice and Easy!
This class is way easy. She is an awesome teacher. I recommend taking her class if you are in math 50. The notes she gives help out with everything.
She is a great teacher!!First off,the quizzes are 3 points,1 point for your name,1 point for writing something down, and 1 point for the correct answer awesome!!The test is straight from the hw and is pretty easy as long as you study!!She gives a lot of examples and it rally helps trust me!!You have to take her!!
seriously, she was the best math teacher I've ever, had, no joke, I wish I could take her again for higher math classes. she connects with her students in a way that helps them understand what the material is. you don't want any other teacher.
She's awesome.. Do the home work & study.. & you will pass.
Prof. Frazee is amazing. She makes math fun. She's doesn't mind questions. She presents the material with a simple, yet understandable style. Excellent Professor!!
Karen is awesome. She is really nice and helpful. Her teaching method is easy to follow and she is always open to questions. Do the homework and study and you will get a good grade. I like that she allows note cards on tests. Big plus for that. Thank you Ms. Frazee!
Very nice and effective, she really wants to help. She took one hour out of her day to help me prepare for the test. But very tough grader, she is really harsh on grades, grades them to the bone. If you like math take her but you always have to study to do good in her class.
Her tests are NOT based on the lectures. They are all word problems. Also, there are only about 8 problems on each test so basically, if you get like 2 wrong, you're screwed.
Great teacher! Willing to help me after or before class on her own time!Very clear most of the time, and if not she's always open to questions! She never makes you feel like you've asked a dumb question.Everyday quizzed are 4 points 1 for your name, one for writing something down, 1 for almost getting the right answer, and 1 for the correct answer!
She's a nice teacher. Her notes & examples are easy to follow but come test time you can say the problems are completely opposite... if you struggle in world problems do not take her class!! And if you don't get domain and range your screwed the rest of the semester!
Frazee is adorable! Her teachings are very clear despite how fast she talks. if you need to ask her questions after class, she's there to help. Her tests are easy as long as you go over ALL of the material she covered. She is really, really sweet! One of the best teachers I've ever had! So far I'm getting a 94% :)
Explains everything clearly, does examples in class, goes over a ton of homework problems if you ask. Gives short quizzes on homework for attendance but they help you learn too. Tests are OK, nobody said math is easy. They're based off the homework and grading is fair. If you need help go to her office hours. One of the BEST teachers EVER!
I hate math, but i now understand more than i ever did. Great teacher, very helpful. Enjoyed learning from her.
Professor Frazee is a great teacher! She makes Calculus interesting and breaks it down well. If you need help just ask and she'll explain everything...even if you can't remember some of the algebra you learned a long time ago. Her tests are a little harder...she always uses weird questions on tests. Just study and do your hw every night!
Seriously one of the best math teachers at pmar! Explains everything clearly and helps you out if you ask. She's more than fair if you don't do well on a test! Tests are a little hard but if you study and do your homework you will get a good grade
Great teacher... hard class... must do homework everyday! Taking her pre calc class in the summer and will try class again in the Fall.
Awesome teacher! She talks really fast, but you can understand her. Tell her you don't understand something, otherwise she'll just keep going. She is the nicest teacher. And always available to help.
i took her for math 50. she was really good explaning everything. Her daily quizzes were really helpful. if you have the change to take this proffesot TAKE IT!!.I will love to have her for my calculus classes.
The best math teacher on campus. I had problems with math until I took her class. She made algebra very comprehensible.
she is very nice and super helpful
the best teacher ever!! she explains very well, easy tests.
Took her over summer session so if you miss one class, you get behind. However, she posted all of the notes online and homework wasn't collected. Talks fast, but is thorough and both expects and encourages the class to ask questions. Daily 3 point quizzes, but you receive 2 points for writing your name and attempting the problem. :)
Took Pre-Cal over summer. Attendance not mandatory but daily quizzes, 2/3 points for showing up. Homework while not collected is a must for the tests. The tests are difficult but she does not curve them so be prepared. She teaches by example and posts the notes online. Answers all question throughly. Great teacher.
She is an awesome teacher, her lectures are very thorough, I have not done any hw and yet pull through because her lectures are that good!! Definetly recommend for math 60!!!
She was a great teacher, really helpful and nice. Quizes at beginning of class, you have to answer one problem. I really liked her class and HATE math. Recommend her for anyone!
Really helpful professor, and a very easy going class. She is really helpful and wants you to succeed. There are assignments you turn in every few weeks or so. Tests are easy if you study. Overall, a really great professor!
Frazee is very knowledgeable, but is not the best at teaching it to others. She works hard and puts in extra effort in order to help you, but her lack of enthusiasm and her monotonous voice make the class rather boring. Overall, she is a good teacher.
The worst teach I've had in my team at Palomar. Grades extremely hard and doesn't do a good job at all explaining the material. Do not take her even if you know math as she won't take anything but the way she showed you.
Very easy just need to do the Hw and have quizes everyday but are not hard it is mostly on the hw but only 2 questions. Gives alot of worksheets but helps alot. I would recomend you take this class.
Great Professor! Great techniques innovated with a little humor. Not boring at all. Great at emailing back right away if you have questions and even invites you to sit in on her other classes to learn more. I really enjoyed having her as my teacher and will try to get her again. Take her class!
She is a great teacher. Ive never done so well in a math class before. She teaches it to you as if you dont know a thing about math. She also goes above and beyhond to make the information clear. Really a great teacher and is very underrated. I would recomend her to anyone! Best teacher ever!
I hated math before this class and now I can say it's better than before. Doesnt cancel any classes! She says that the textbook is required for homework, but she doesnt check homework. I didnt buy the book didnt do any homework and passed the class. Go to class everyday know the material, past the quizes and tests and you'kll do fine.
Ok, everyone on here talking bad about Prof Frazee must not get math at all. She has by far been the best math teacher I have ever gotten. She's so sweet and understanding and works around you and the help you need! Shes amazing, take her! Makes math so easy! Makes it a task to remeber everyones name!Shows alot! Very dedicated to her craft!
Great teacher! It's a hard class and she tends to talk really fast. Homework is not turned in, but it's almost impossible to pass the tests without doing them. She is very willing to help no matter what section the question is from and makes an effort to know everyone. You get the grade you work for.
Homework is optional, daily quizzes are given, she has a talent for teaching (plenty of experience), she is very organized, does not expect you to read from the book, tests are easy (I got 89-91% on all with minimal studying), her course made me enthusiastic about calculus, she posts her lecture notes online, and attendance is mandatory. A+ teacher
Great class! Difficult material but makes you comfortable to ask questions from any section. Although the homework is not required it makes the tests much easier. She talks fast, but you'll get used to it
Karyn is an amazing Professor, and I will start this review by saying that I would recommend her to anyone. That being said, her class is not the easiest. I consider myself very knowledgable in Mathematics, however I still struggled with some concepts at times. Karyn will help you through these struggles, however, and give you a great experience
In high school math was a living nightmare for me, the teachers were awful and didn't care. Frazee is the nicest math teacher I've ever had! She will NOT embarass you if you have a question!
Ms. Frazee was very helpful with any questions that I had. She always responded to my e-mail questions quickly. Math is a difficult subject for me, but she made learning the material fairly easy. She grades very fairly - giving partial credit even if the answer is wrong. Highly recommend - would choose her as my professor again over any others.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had. You are really lucky if you can get her. I was so sad to find I couldn't take Calculus with her next semester. She makes life easy.
She is an amazing teacher. She has clear lectures and is always willing to stop if you have any questions. Offers a lot of extra credit. the daily quizzes really help. if you plan on taking a math class and she is teaching it, I highly recommend taking her.
Calculus isn't easy, but her lectures make it easier. Expect quick feedback in the form of emails, and good, clear examples in class. Great teacher, shame she only teaches at 7am.
Take this professor! I attended her pre-calculus over the summer, attended every class, completed assignments on time, completed most extra credit and earned an A. She's clear about what to expect, quiz every class, but super easy if you did homework, and gives grades partial credit very generously. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Very clear lectures, she makes it very easy for students to understand all the material. Gives a little extra credit at the end.. not as boring as a lot of math teachers.
Karen is great prof, she knows what she is talking about, she's super nice and is always willing to help. She wants you to get an A! She's also pretty funny, not on purpose, but that's what made me like her the most. Great bait mate, rate 8 out of 8!
Karen Frazee is one of my favorite professors at Palomar! She was so helpful throughout the entire semester and gave a helpful amount of EC. She sends out test practice a week before the test! This is very helpful! There was a lot of WebAssing homework and written assignments, but these are very doable. Would definitely take her again. Great Prof.
Karyn Frazee is a great professor! She is a very nice and helpful person. All the homework is online through Web Assign, and she has extra credit assignments that you turn in to her. I would take her again.
VERY hard class, especially if math is not your forte. Frazee is very willing to work with you to help you pass, but it won't be easy. She takes attendance every day. There is homework almost every night. There are 4 tests & a final (cumulative). Her lecture notes are somewhat helpful and seem easy but homework/tests are 100x harder. Get a tutor.
Wonderful professor. I took her for Calc 1 during the summer term and she taught everything clearly, patiently, and was very in depth. She would take her time explaining problems to students that didn't understand them and she graded tests/quizzes very quickly. Always there to help her students, and gives out extra credit and alot of partial points
I took this class for Summer. She replies to the emails fast. I think she gave enough extra credit. What I love about this teacher is that she actually cares about how much you actually understand. On the other hand, maybe it's because it was a Summer semester, but she doesn't work on some parts deep enough.
im currently taking her for math and she is AMAZING . Her lectures are eaasy to understand, she gives examples and does them step by step. she gives extra credit, has study guides and doesnt give surprises on tests. go to class and do the work and you will pass. im taking her again for calculus
Frazee is great! I took her for 15 and 50. Her lectures are really great. Her reviews are really helpful for preparing for the tests. She gives a 3 point quiz every day of class (1 point for your name, 1 point for trying the problem, and 1 for correctly solving). She's a very generous grader! I would recommend her to anyone.
Don't take this class for math 110. The study guide was not helpful at all because the test was totally different on the study guide. by the way you have to do the quiz in class and if you don't do well on the quiz than you are screwed - it means that You made a big mistake and/or probably in big trouble too. my advice is pick a different teacher.
Great teacher. Covered topics completely. I even learned a few new methods for math which gave me a better understanding. Brain teaser math problems before class starts helps warm up the brain for the lectures.
She is a good teacher. But the study guides are wildly different from her examples. There are 5 tests and a final that will replace your lowest test grade. Expect to spend hours on homework and hours in the math lab. She is helpful and replys quickly to questions. I have spent more than 150 hours in the math lab and still failed the class with a D-
Karen Frazee is one of the best professors I have ever had. If you are planning on taking Business Calculus, take her class. If you pay close attention to her lectures, ask questions, do all the homework and study for the test, you will do well. Just some words of advice, do not skip class or turn in homework late. It is very hard to catch up.
Took a while to get used to her teaching style but once I did I really enjoyed her. She teaches the sections clearly and easily. Yes it is a hard class and yes you might struggle but Karen spends her time answering all of your questions and loves to help. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. It's a life-saver. You don't need the textbook. Would take her again.
Ok many years since I took math and a math specific disability. so started at Math 10, She made things easy to understand, gave several ways to do things so you could pick what worked best for you. Responds to emails quickly. Lets you redo homework if you forgot something, homework every week. cares about your grades
Best math teacher I have ever had. I'm TERRIBLE at math and had life incidents happen that made coming to class hard, and she still tried to tutor and help me as much as possible. She has a very clear way of teaching that makes is easy to understand. Her tests are hard but you just have to study and she prepares you well for them. Highly recommend!
Ratings say shes great but DO NOT TAKE HER!Her lectures suck!Doesnt know how to teach, doesnt explain anything, her notes suck, and she gives study guides but tells us theyre not like the test.I go to every class and pay attention but still have to go home and teach myself what we did in class,Im not the only one either,a bunch of us do this.
horrible, took her final which was 5 pages. Our sub even said your professor is extremely tough, most of you wont even have time to finish the final not even 5 minutes into the final six people turned it in completely blank.
She was such a great professor! i truly enjoyed going to her class every morning even though it was at 7:20am. Her test was kinda hard but we were prepared for it by doing the homework and the hw in the book (it was optional). i recommend taking her class!
She is actually one of the best math professors I have ever had. She cares about students actually learning. Offers extra credit!!!! Her class was fun when I took her and I would definitely take her again.
Professor Frazee is amazing! She breaks down concepts so that they're easily understandable and goes over a lot of examples to ensure you understand the material. There are a ton of extra credit opportunities near the end as well! As long as you finish the assigned homework on time and show up to class you won't have a problem.
You have to be aware she explains it at her pace/style (monotone) it gets boring at times so make sure you have coffee. It is highly important to do well on ALL the tests because that was the only thing messing me up! The hw is online , and you have to buy it for $90 (sucks). I don't recommend this professor. I heard Shannon Lienhart is better.
There are quizzes worth 5 pts right before every class period. Tests are all worth 100 pts. 4 Group projects worth 25 pts each. And hw online comes out to 100 pts towards the end of the semester. The extra credit comes out to 80pts at the end of the semester but if it not correct she won't give it to you. I don't recommend personally she was okay..
Her lecture style is very easy to understand, works through examples with you all class. extra credit opportunity every day so make sure you're there the beginning of class. Homework every night on webassign. tests are much easier than the homework, study the study guide and really understand her in class examples and you'll get an A.
Works on examples all class. Someone mentioned the 5 point quizzes as a neg. thing but she gives you a point for your name, and 2 points for at least trying the question so at least 3/5 every time and with every quiz is an extra cred opp. She gives so much EC and the tests are so similar to in-class handouts, you have to really try to fail
I have had a courses with many math professors unfortunately in Palomar. I've dropped numerous courses with teachers because they talk down to students and get angry if we ask questions. Not Prof Frazee. Shes a real gem among the Palomar math department. You can ask questions and she will explain concepts to you till you get it. Take her class!
Prof. Frazee was always kind but I really struggled in this class. Attending class got to be very draining. You heavily rely on learning from classmates instead of learning from the professor. Got overwhelming at times and the study guides/homework never matched the tests. A really disappointing way to start off my first year at Palomar ):
She does not lecture AT ALL and she puts you in groups and your supposed to teach each other but the problem is no one knows what is going on bc she never taught us anything so its really everyone teaching each other wrong information. docks you on exams for the dumbest reasons I do not recommend this class if you need to be taught like most most
I had her for math 130 and she was great. She was more than happy to answer question in class and outside class time (including weekends via zoom). The homework is online and challenging. Her tests were significantly easier than the homework. I took the class with support and the worksheets were very helpful for the tests.
Best professor at Palomar in my opinion. I averaged around a C in every math class in my life until i took her class and I got an A. She is always willing to have office hours if needed and her lectures are concise; she gets straight to the point. She always answers questions and it is really easy to succeed in her class if you just follow along.
The class I took was called Quantitative Reasoning 101. It was very difficult considering I hadn't taken a college math class in more than a decade. I struggled at the beginning a little bit, but I was able to maintain a decent grade throughout the rest of the semester. If the professor wasn't able to convey material clearly, we could email her.
Prof. Frazee was excellent at helping her students be successful, while also being kind and caring towards the classes needs. She took lots of time making sure her students understood the materials and were well prepared for tests/projects. If you make an effort to take notes and follow along during lectures, you will be successful!
If you need to take math and absolutely hate math, take any of her math classes. She takes the time to explain things as long as you ask. Raise your hand, ask for after class tutoring, email her hw questions and she will find a way for you to understand anything. Best Professor I have ever taken!
I had previously dropped and failed a couple math classes before taking her class and I could say I really learned a lot from her. She's very patient, and does not take points off late assignments. The test reviews were really similar to the actual test, you just need to review. Four projects are assigned throughout the summer and online homework.
I took her for the STEM pre-calc 126 class and absolutely loved it. She is truly a compassionate professor and wants you to do well. I will say that your grade depended almost entirely on the 4 tests and final exam so if you are not confident in your algebra skills or are not a very good test taker, this class might not be for you.
Caring, organized, dry sense of humor, always early and well prepared to teach the class. 4 projects (can be done alone), homework are online. Tests: credits for writing equations even if your final answer is wrong (as long as equation applies). Lots of info, studied a lot. Great lectures, grades: fairly and quickly. BEST Math Teacher ever.
Professor Frazee was an amazing teacher. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you do miss class or miss anything in class she always has the notes and worksheets posted online. You do have to purchase Webassign, this is where you will do your homework and access the textbook, it is $100.
She was a great professor. Very understanding and caring and there was never too much homework. She made sure always to be available to answer questions and her expectations were clear.
She assigns about an hour of graded homework for each lecture online (so you have to buy the textbook), but the homework problems do help with understanding how to solve the problems. She grades very generously, if you show your work but get the answer wrong on a test, she will still give you partial points. Palomar offers free tutoring which helps
She was super sweet and I loved her as a person, but the class is super hard if you are not good with math to begin with. It was less explaining on how to do things in depth and more watching her solve problems for the new material. I spent 100 hours studying and teaching myself. If you're okay with this or already good at math then you'll be fine.
Overall she was a great professor. I'm someone who prefers to do math homework with a textbook and this class used a website to do our math assignments. The work is manageable and tests are not extremely challenging and manageable. Take this class!!
Professor Frazee's class can be challenging, but she is caring and organized. The lectures are helpful, and the tests align well with the material. Using resources like unstuck study and the provided notes can make this class manageable.
Ms Frazee is very nice, she really wants everyone to learn the material and is always there to help. If you're struggling she always has office hours where you can work and ask questions. She's very understanding and knows that it can be two steps forward one step backwards with math sometimes. Homework is worth 5% and locked behind a $100 paywall.
Love this professor! I would definitely recommend her. She clearly explains every concept with lots of examples. Each test has a review that is very helpful and similar to the actual exam. Offers lots of partial credit on the exams. Tests are 95% of your grade and hw is 5%. Allows hw to be turned in until the end of the semester with no penalty.
Very caring teacher who is approachable and communicative. However, some steps were skipped during mathwork, which made it easy to fall behind during lectures. The material was challenging, and I often used outside resources to review concepts. However, she also offers generous time to complete assignments.
Great professor. Her lecture style is very straightforward, and her exams closely reflect HW problems and notes from lecture. Exams are 95% of your grade but she gives lots of partial credit. I recommend going over every problem on the homework and study guide to ensure you do well on each exam. Quick at responding to emails and grading exams.
Amazing teacher, takes her time to make sure everyone understands the topic and is always willing to help. Would take again.
