Dr. Guffey is a good teacher, just boring. She doesnt make her class fun. I didnt like the quizzes we had in every class but it did help me learn my vocabulary.

She definitely has her favorites. She can be a bit of a smart aleck, but doesn't make fun of her students. Overall she is the better choice of the two spanish teachers, and her class is fairly easy.

I dropped the class because I wasn't prepared for 1002 without taking 1001 first. However I did get ot know her and I prefer her over Dr. Broome. She's nice and helpful if you will show that you are actually interested in learning a foreign language. If you happen to be a homeschooler like I was then your chance for success is much greater.

She has her favorites - I'm one of those. She can sometimes try to be funny and isn't, but all in all, she is pretty good.

Karen Guffey's class is'nt really unpassable but she makes you work hard for your grade! STUDY! expect to do hours of homework & beware of her teaching method(she doesn't really teach much since u teach yourself by her HW online)1/2 the class will be gone by midterms.I would not recommend her 2 anyone who has never taken spanish. Take Broome!

Her class is somewhat difficult, but if you work hard you will do great. Yes, most of her stuff is done via the internet, but with her powerpoints and practice exercises, you have all you need. Studying is a must, but that is what is expected in college. I made an A and had no previous Spanish experience

If you really want to learn spanish, she is the professor to get. Yes, there is a lot of homework, but learning a new language takes lots of practice and you can't be lazy. If you just need to satisfy a language requirement, don't waste your time or hers. If you do the homework, you will do great on the exams. Practice makes perfect.

Very Hard but hard work and attentivness will give you a good grade. She drops the lowest quiz, test, and diolouge. Quizes are easy, but the exams are hard. Personally i didn't like her teaching techniques. Class is computer based. you basically teach yourself with her powerpoints online. She showes favortism. I have a B right now! ALOT OF WORK!

Professor Guffey is an amazing teacher. She is tough but in the long run you do learn so much. Most of the people that say she is mean, are usually the ones that are failing her class with flying colors. I think her class is very interesting since she talks about her experiences of the culture and lifestyle of the other countries. Chino Serrano

I like how there are power points for all of the lessons as opposed to a textbook. This class is a must for any student serious about learning spanish.

Dr. Guffey has great teaching skills. I have taken her for 3 different classes and I was able to catch on very well through her teachings. She explains material well and if you don't understand it when you are in class, the power points on her website are very helpful. She is very good at advertising her Barcelona trip! She makes it sound too fun!

Professor Guffey is tough, but she gives you all the material you need to know. There are quizzes and homework everyday to help you learn the material. She explains the material in class and also has powerpoints and practice excercizes on her website so you can access them anytime. She expects you to be in class and do what you are supposed to do.

Dr. Guffey is an amazing teacher and probably the best Spanish teacher I have ever had. Her expectations of each student are reasonable and her work load is less than what would be expected at the college level. She is a very straight-forward individual and teaches her class in a similiar manner. All she asks is respect for her and her class.

Study! She is the best. She gives you everything you need to know but its up to you to take the time to do it. If you are the type of study that constantly skips classes or doesn't study, dont even think about it. We had a quiz or test everyday. Still an easy A considering all lectures are online

She gives a lot of homework, make sure you do it all. Tests are straight forward and just like the homework. When she tells you to learn something, LEARN IT! Just study, and you'll do fine.

Dr. Guffey is wonderful teacher. I had her online class and she was very helpful to me. Do your work and see her if you need help and you will be fine. She is a very considerate and sweet lady!! Love her!

I took her online class, and still made an A. From what I can tell in her class meetings on campus, she's a great teacher. She is super nice and helpful. The class is pretty easy. I wish I could take her again next semester. She really makes Spanish fun and interesting. Definitely would recommend!

Spanish is a hard subject! Period. Dr. Guffey will bend over backwards to help you. If you are in college then you should be ready to work at a college level! All the "cry babies" out there just want an easy "A". That's not going to happen. I worked hard for mine. Take her for sure if you plan on going past 1001 or you will be lost!

Love her! She is so funny and will help you. You do have to study though. Duh! Don't skip class, or you will be lost. Do take her if you're going beyond SPAN 1001. You'll be glad you did. :)

She is a great teacher. I would recommend her for anyone who is willing to participate and wants to learn. The material can be difficult if some spanish is not already known, but if you study this class is a piece of cake. I am very glad I took this class.

You'll work hard, but you'll get the grade that you earn. She knows her stuff and her story lessons are muy interesante, so the words associated w them are easy to memorize.

I really enjoyed taking Dr. Guffey this semester. We had a lot of assignments, but the syllabus was very clear as to when everything was due. I would definitely take her again! Get on her good side at the beginning of the semester and you're good to go.

Dr. Guffey was one of the best Professors I've had here at Gordon. She definitely makes you work for your grade but she honestly cares and is here to help. She does give daily homework and quizzes, but it's only to help you. They are super easy if you study. The quizlet app was by bff during this class!! Definitely would recommend taking her!!!

Amazing professor, but make sure you're not taking her for an easy A! There is a lot of work, but it isn't particularly challenging if you apply yourself. Lots of quizzes, but it helps your grade in the end. She knows a lot about linguistics and it's fascinating to hear her talk about it, too.

You have to work a lot, but that makes you really prepared. She tells you exactly what's going to be on her tests so you know what to expect. Everybody says she's hard but if you do all your homework it's not. I'm glad I get to have her for 1002.

I was afraid to take her but it was the only class that fit my schedule. I worked my butt off but I learned a lot. As she says, there aren't any surprises in her class. You know when the tests and quizzes are and what's on them. I ended up liking the class a lot. It's better than classes where the teacher tests you on things you never heard of.

Don't take this class if you're not willing to do about 20 assignments per week. This class has a heavy workload but if you take notes and do the homework, it's really not hard. You record yourself for tests and quizzes so study! Working a few days ahead helped me stay on track when I had a lot going on in other classes. Good luck!

I absolutely loved Mrs.Guffey's class. While there are lots of assignments each week, it's not just busy work, it is the practice needed to fully understand all the concepts being taught. Mrs.Guffey is a wonderful professor, and she is the perfect mix of a good, strict Spanish teacher and a very caring and respected woman.

This was a hard online class with a lot of work, but I had a friend in her on campus class and we compared our D2L pages and they were exactly the same. All the homework and all the tests and quizzes. My friend didn't think it was too bad because she got to do some of her homework in class and ask questions. I still like online classes better.

She is a very nice professor and I enjoyed having her. You do have to learn in her class, therefore, you have to put in effort. But she shows respect to you and cares about her class.

There was a ton of work and a ton of quizzes and tests. But there was nothing unexpected. She says she doesn't allow make up, but two or three times I missed a deadline and she let me make up the work. I was very polite and told her I'd take a penalty or whatever but she never gave me a penalty. I think you just have to be nice.

I don't understand the negative comments/ratings, unless they're from people who didn't put in the work. Dr. Guffey is a tough but fair teacher. She stressed from the beginning that you have to actually 1) attend class and 2) do the work. If you do those, you'll do well AND learn what you're supposed to. Isn't that what you're in college to do?

Dr. Guffey is strict but fair. As long as you come to class, participate, and don't act like a fool she will be very helpful with feedback and extra assignments. You absolutely have to study and do the work she assigns to pass this class, and cramming is impossible. If you are willing, you will get a good grade even with no experience in Spanish.
