I took this lecture course and Karen by far was the most helpful teacher I have ever had. She repeats material so ALL students understand and she doesn't go on until the class as a whole is understanding the material. She is also very down to earth.

She is a GREAT teacher. She is helpful, smart, and funny. She breaks concepts down so they are easy to understand and easy to apply to the problems in the book and on tests. The tests are just like the problems you go over in class and in homework.

She was a great teacher. It wasn't the easiest class though...but it wasn't her fault, there was a lot of material to cover in only 15 weeks!

This professor is awesome! She used to be an engineer, and breaks everything down for you and shows the class in multiple methods so you can best understand the material. The book is used daily and homework is assigned every night! The test are done in the testing center and if you do your homework you'll pass the tests!

Mrs. Hettel is a great teacher, she'll go through how to do every problem several times, she collects homework, her tests are right from the book. She trys to make Math as exciting as it can be

You will need to attend class everyday.. or else you will miss a big portion- she does not go over the lectures if you are late or missed a class, or collects late homework. Amazing teacher!! LOVE HER! I am horrible at math in general, she teaches in a way that is so easy to understand. I had no problem understanding the material. Ms. Hettel is an AMAZING teacher. But she's not one of those teachers who will let you get away with things, so you better be good and do the hw, ect. But I LOVED her class! I hate math (still do) but she is helping me to truly understand the material! TOTALLY RECOMMENED!

Karen is a really good teacher! As a student that is not that good in math make sure you do all of your homework and pay close attention then you will pass! Homework, tests, and the final is how she grades! Make sure to keep up with everything!!! She also prepares very well for the final!

Karen was one of the best professors I have ever had. I have always hated math and dreaded any math class. This semester I have looked forward to her class and actually enjoy math now. As long as you do the homework and pay attention in class I can't imagine it's possible to fail.

Great professor, I would definitely take her class again. She is always available to answer any questions you have. Before tests and quizzes we have a review day which I found very helpful. Not too many tests. All test questions come from the book.

Karen is a really good teacher. Some of the material was somewhat difficult but overall she was very good about explaining concepts. Only four tests and four quizzes. Homework every night, and you must receive 100% on it for it to be counted.

She is a great teacher! I came to almost every class with a few exceptions due to personal matters. With that being said,if you have a legitimate reason behind the lack of attendance, then make sure to email her. She does not take attendance, but she is aware of the correlation between students that show and pass. I recommend her!

if you want to be taught by a professor who is passionate about her subject and really cares about students, take her class. Even if you don't have a strong background in math, she will break it down from the beginning to the end. she also grades the process, not just the answer.

She is a great teacher. She explains the subject matter in full detail so that it is easy and understandable for everyone. If you have questions about stuff, she is very approachable. Would definitely recommend her if you are taking MTH 169.

she goes step by step into how each problem is suppose to be. she has no problem answering your questions no matter how many times you ask.

Karen was a great teacher for the most part. She will go over any problem multiple times until you understand it. The only negative about this class was that she only gives you a two day window to take tests in the testing center.

Professor Hettel is tough, but she is the best math professor I have ever had. Do not use your phone unless youre on break. If you take notes, pay attention, and ask questions you will pass the class.

I love Karen. Shes a great teacher and is very funny in my opinion. Shes knowledgeable on the subject and shes a teacher that acknowledges that life can screw up and will give you an extension on things but never on tests! The only thing is shell let you know if you dont know something PRACTICE IT thats it.

Not the friendliest instructor, but she explains things well in lecture and spends time answering any questions to make sure you understand. Her reviews & practice tests are helpful, but the window of time for taking tests is small. She's good about promptly updating grades on Black Board, so you always know how you're doing.

Her lectures are pretty decent and the pace is good, however, if a section is short she'll rush through it and sometimes it's difficult to understand. she gives hw online and it's around 2-3 sections. there's a limit on how many times you can rework a prob. if you ask a question in class she'll make sure you understand the concept before moving on.

I loved taking a class with Karen. I've taken two classes with her, and she makes learning so easy. Math isn't my best subject, but she makes sure that her students really understand the material. She can be picky with the answers on tests, but if you get it wrong she gives half credit if you have a clue what to do. A great prof and great person!

She works with all her students that ask for help and gives you no surprises. Do your homework on webassign and focus and do the work in class. If you do those things its an easy A. She doesnt surprise you with pop quizzes. You arent forced to work in front of the class so that makes me more comfortable. Very knowledgeable about the subject.

Professor Hettel was the BEST prof Ive ever had. Not only was she very understanding of personal situations, she ALWAYS was available to help. If you ever have a question, just email her, she responds quickly & will do whatever it takes to make sure you understand. Anyone who fails this class, its their own fault. At first I thought shed be a really difficult teacher but she ended up being one of my absolute favorites! Dont skip class; attendance isnt mandatory but the homework makes so much more sense when youre in class to learn it. We had a few hw assignments every week but they werent awful. Ask questions & shell help you out

Professor Hettel was the best professor I ever had. The previous comments saying she is awful likely did not apply themselves and clearly were not prepared for a college course. This woman was always available to help me and always responds to her emails. She will not take attendance but everything makes sense if you actually go to class.

Best math professor Ive had. I dont know why she bothers taking high schoolers into her college class because all they do is complain and ask for a good grade instead of working. I worked for this grade but honestly prof Hettel made it attainable by always responding to emails fast and being available for extra help.

I was skeptical about taking this class with this instructor because of reviews I read on rate my professor, but I'm glad that I didn't let that deter me. Karen is SUPER helpful, and is willing to work with you if needed. Anytime I needed her help she did so with no hesitation, and she makes sure that her students are successful with the course.

The reviews don't do her justice. Yeah its not the easiest class, but she tries to help and ask if you need help as much as she can.
