She is a nice lady and really knows her stuff. i think she is so intelligent that her communication skills suck when she presents the material, countless mistakes, but she is willing to answer any questions. Her exams are tricky in wording, but if you pass all her little quizes you will do alright. Her curve is great. She makes 40 a C, if the entir
She seems like a nice lady so far, and is very clear in class. The info so far isn't that bad. So far so good!
All she cares about is memorization and she doesn't actually teach or explain anything. The tests are so hard she has to make a 42 a C but you will need the curve to get a decent grade. I would not recommend her.
Come to every class & copy ALL of her notes & study & understand it & you will be guaranteed at least a C. Tests and quizzes are primarily based on her notes...looked at my book maybe twice the whole semester. Overall great professor, knows her stuff, very helpful when you're having trouble(but you have to catch her before or after class).
I think that she was really great. She is pretty intimidating at first but trust me stick with it becuase she is really helpful if you have a question and she bases the tests on the questions from the class. She really does make a 40% a C so trust me and stick with the class and I guarantee that you will at least pass!!
i thought dr. hoober was a really good teacher. she helped me out a lot when i needed it. her class is very fair and she is a very helpful professor. take this class its great!
A little interesting. Not too hard and an impossible to fail curve.
Her notes are easy to follow and she really wants her students to do well. Awesome lady.
by far the best professor i've ever had. she's straight to the point and explains well. this is one of the only classes i've taken that makes sense as a whole. i hated chemistry before i had her class & hoober put together gaps & questions that i had. tests are not easy, but shes does curve. important to attend every lecture & take lotsa notes
Biochem is tough no matter how it is taught, but Dr.Hoober makes it as painless as possible.Quizzes/Exams are tough, but it IS possible to do well with a lot of effort.Course gets very difficult during the metabolism section. She wants you to do well and she truly cares about her students.Hot too :)!
Dr. Hoober is very intimidating at first, but if you go to class and study the notes, her class is very easy to get a good grade in.Her tests and quizzes are challenging. DONT buy the book unless you really want to, I didnt look at it once. Dr. Hoober was probably the best professor that I have had.
Dr. Hoober was an amazing professor. The material was very hard, and she presenting it in a way that I was able to understand. She is always open for questions and for extra help outside the classroom. Her quizzes & tests are hard, but if you go to class and study the notes, you will do fine... she also has a GREAT sense of style
Wonderful professor. Biochem is pretty in-depth, but she was able to break it down into easy-to-grasp chunks. Her exams are tough, but there's a steep curve.
Biochem is tough but Dr. Hoober is really good at breaking it down to an understandable level. Her exams are difficult but theres a HUGE curve (58 is a C).. I studied 2 days for the first exam and got a C... a month in advance for the 2nd and got an A soooo studying is necessary but well rewarded. Shes really cool though and has good fashion!!
I disliked her VERY much at first because she seemed stuck up and all-knowing. But she was extremely helpful outside of the classroom and I could not have passed the class without her help. Class is boring, but she tries to make it somewhat entertaining. Not a class you can breeeeze on by in, you definitely have to put effort in!
i think she would be more interesting if she was teaching on a higher level-- you can tell this 100 level stuff just bores her. You can't blame her though, since about 90% of the class is tuned out most of the time.
If you have to take this class you are screwed. Honestly her exams are impossibel, yes there is a curve but it doesnt make a difference. You think you know what your doing until she proves you wrong on the exam. Her notes are simple and understanding but it does nothign for you. Be scared be very scared.
I don't think she's bad. Tries to relate the class to what your major is, which I appreciated. Tests are frustrating because she takes what she taught in class to the next level, but since it is curved it works out since if the question is impossible nobody gets it. Has a dry sense of humor. Also, is very helpful outside of class!
The curve is helpful, but considering it is a 5 credit course, be careful. I would suggest going to her for extra help and extra problems so you know what to expect on exams. Definately should not be teaching a 100 level class. You can tell she understands it, but she can breeze over things she assumes the class understands, even when they don't.
She contradicts herself and this makes her notes very hard to follow. She understands the material very well and she is very intelligent, but she does not know how to communicate this knowledge to the class. She also does not take the class seriously enough, especially since it is a 5 credit course. She seems to think it is just a joke.
Wow. She was the worst. She intentionally makes the exams impossible. She'll teach nothing but straight facts in class and then you get the exam and you don't even know HOW to ANSWER the QUESTION. I didn't even know what she was looking for half the time. She does curve so you better hope you have a ton of idiots in your class.
luckily the class is full of idiots. with the curve you WILL pass. Labs and quizs are easy and 35% of your grade. Exams are hard but just study all the details in your notes and you'll pull at least a C on them, getting a B in the class. If she stopped curving, then the class would suck.
The class is difficult and you must go to class to understand the material. Dr. Hoober is easily accessible and willing to help. Study her notes, and you will do fine in this class. I really didn't look at the book because everything is in the notes. If you don't understand something go to her, she will help. She is a good professor.
I learned more about fashion from her spunky outfits than I did from the class. I studied my butt off, made tons of flashcards, did practice problems, and still did horrible on exams. Thank God for the curve. Don't buy the book. She is a funny lady though, ask her about her kids. She forgets them a lot. Nurses, you gotta take it, just study ALOT
Best Professor at UD! Not an easy class for a lot of students, but if you go to class, learn your notes and go to office hours it is possible to get an A! Very fair grader- when an exam is hard, she curves accordingly so a 77=A & 40=C. Most helpful professor I've had! So funny, so nice, and very pretty! Wish she taught more classes!
Easy class! Just study your notes and you will get an A. She curves the class a lot so you wont have any problems getting a good grade.
Karen is the toughest prof I've seen yet. Exams are tough, but study every night and aim for somewhere in the 60%'s because that will be a B with her curve. Nurses-- make this your MAIN focus because it's 5 credits & can save or kill your GPA. Put in a ton of effort and it's possible. I recommend studying in groups & seeing a tutor. GO TO LECTURE
Horrible. Most of class time is spent in silence while everyone just copies notes off of the board. Her presentations are disorganized. Avoid her at all costs. You won't learn anything useful and she just wants you to memorize random crap.
Doing well in CHEM106 should be your main focus in the semester. Although Hoober grades with a curve, the exams are still relatively hard. Quizzes and lab boosts up your grade so definitely go to them! She seems intimidating, but she is kind and helpful when you ask her questions. Sh
I took this class because it is mandatory for my major. If you go to class & study your notes you should be fine. Dr Hoober gives a really generous curve because her tests are pretty much impossible.
Dr. Hoober is probably the best professor I've had here at UD. She explains everything extremely well and makes it easy to succeed in the class. The exams aren't that bad, just study your notes and the problem sets. Also, GO TO CLASS. this isn't a class you can skip
I'd say switch professors but I think she is the only one. Get out now! Or is it too late? There is one thing I am sure of and that is you're not taking the course by choice. Biochem sucks which makes you wonder how such a beautiful women ended up teaching it. She may be your only bet but she is also your best bet. Honest Reasonable Dangerous
I took biochem over winer and really enjoyed it. If you keep up and go to class the material is not hard. She is very clear about what is on exams too.
Dr. Hoober is a awesome. She made biochem so interesting and enjoyable. attendance is not mandatory but you absolutely have to go to receive a good grade. switches from a powerpoint to a chalk board for lecture notes. write down everything she has on the board and says. if you can rewrite your own notes then your ready for the test
Dr. Hobber was the best science professor I have had at UD so far! She was always clear during lecture and gave you all the information you needed. GO TO CLASS! She doesn't use the textbook, but it is a helpful reference. If you put in some effort, you will pass because her curve is ridiculous. I really enjoyed her class and I learned a lot!
There are only 3 exams including the final and no other assignments so you need to know the material. Luckily there is a nice curve! Hoober takes lecture time very chill and goes over things thoroughly, but her tests are hard, yet representative of the material. She definitely cares about her students.
Don't buy the textbook, you won't need it. However, DO go to office hours, she's willing to help in anyway possible. At first shes a little intimidating but eventually she ends up being really nice and helpful. Her exams are impossible but her curve is the only thing that saved me. Don't skip class or else you're screwed and take good notes.
This is a class you need to work hard to get a good grade. She is very fair in grading, in that she gives a big curve, but the tests are hard. Lab helps boost the grade up as well.
Nursing Majors, make this class YOUR PRIORITY. It can save or kill your GPA. The class is very difficult, the tests are very difficult, but if you STUDY A LOT, they are manageable. DON'T SKIP CLASS EVER. She will help you but you have to take initiative and ask for it. Labs and Quizzes boost your grade and she grades on a curve. JUST STUDY!
Dr. Hoober is amazing. She is so helpful if you decide to seek help and she is a fair grader on exams and quizzes. If you have questions she is always more than happy to help you. Go to office hours and get to know her, it goes a long way. Make sure you spend lots of time studying for her exams even though you'll struggle. Lab saves your grade.
Let me start off by saying I've always received C's and D's in chemistry, until this class. Dr. Hoober wants everyone to do well and will help you if you reach out to her. The first exam is cake so do well on that. You can't miss class, that's the only way to succeed. She was fantastic and conveyed the material very well. I wish she had taught orgo
Where was this magnificent creature when I was taking Orgo? I have never had a better teacher. Karen Hoober gives incredible lectures and knows her stuff. She gives really hard exams so expect low grades but the class is usually full of COMPLETE IDIOTS so the curve is massive!
Her lectures are very straight-forward, but her exams are difficult (expect averages in the 55% range). She did not have a recommended textbook for the class, which made it challenging to study for her exams. On the bright side, the class has a huge curve, and the lab and quizzes are designed to boost your grade.
hoober's class was extremely hard. I love chemistry and she made it hell. needless to say, orgo is never easy...... but when the teacher expects class averages to be in the low 60s its tough. STUDY. MEMORIZE. GO TO CLASS. notes arent online... you will fail without class. Her curve is that the average grade in the class becomes a B... pretty good
Dr. Hoober is the most down to earth chem professor you will get at UD. Jokes around with students and tries to get to know you if you give her the chance. That being said, you will have to work hard. Memorization is going to happen for any chem class and this one isn't any different. Overall i really enjoyed her and learned a lot! go to lecture.
Dr. Hoober is a great Professor. She covers A LOT of material but every lecture is clear, and well paced so you get the most out of them. You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. She doesn't put notes up online and you miss a lot of tidbits she mentions in class. Tests are pretty tough but she is a fair grader.
Great Class!
So far, this class has been great! I sometimes get distracted because it's almost two hours long and every day (winter session), but that's not because of her! She genuinely wants to get to know us, and jokes around. Also, I really feel like I learn IN class rather than struggling on my own outside of it. I love her, she's great. PS SHE POSTS NOTES
I didn't like her at first but now she's one of my favorites. SHE READS THESE RATINGS OUT LOUD IN CLASS so hi everybody hope this semester is treating you well. And don't worry she'll curve. It's honestly not that hard you just gotta study.
yikes. tough class even if you are good at science, and extremely hard material to learn. No textbook to go off of. huge curve!!
Hoober- if you are reading this, I'm about to take your CHEM214 exam and lost hope. So, i'm writing you a good review because i'm desperate, lonely, and scared. Have mercy on us and curve our grade like titrations. And I'm okay being the zwitterion.
Honestly- she is so smart. However, her class is very, very challenging. A 30% on the first exam we had was considered a C.... I think that says enough in itself. Quizzes are completely fair but the exams shouldn't be as difficult as they are. Its very upsetting to put in the time but only receive a C. I like her as a person but Im glad it's over.
The quizzes aren't too bad at all. There are two exams and a final; these are very hard. Fortunately, Professor Hoober promises from the beginning that there will be a heavy curve on final grades. Her lectures can be confusing but get a tutor and you should be fine. Don't stress, work hard, and trust in the curve.
This class was challenging but pretty interesting! Just go to all lectures for the notes, you don't need a textbook. There are only 2 exams and the final. To study, just make sure you can recopy your notes basically. When you get your exams back, go to her to see if she'll give you any points back--she usually does. Don't be scared bc huge curve.
Hoober is an awesome professor, her lectures are very interesting. She doesn't put notes up online so you have to write down everything she says. Her exams are straight out of her lectures so don't buy the cook. The class is pretty hard but she is really helpful and there is a curve so it's not too bad. I'd definitely take another class with her
She is a great professor, very enthusiastic about chemistry. That being said, the class is also extremely difficult. I loved orgo and did great, but biochem destroyed me. You need to go to class because all her notes are relevant for exams. She's very approachable so do not be afraid to ask questions.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hoobers class. The course work is difficult, but there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit, as well as weekly workshops to go over course material. Exams are challenging, but as long as you know your stuff and the material in the power points, you will do fine. Studying is key, but is manageable!
Hoober is a great professor, you just need to work with her. She is extremely straight forward. Her powerpoints are the bible. Anything on the powerpoint can be used on an exam/quiz. BEWARE quizzes can be hard but if you do well they help your grade out so much. Overall Hoober is awesome and I would take her again in a heart beat.
Dr. Hoober is a Biochem goddess. She has perfected teaching this course and I couldn't have asked for a better professor. Her teaching methods are flawless. She has many favorite AA's, but I believe her favorite AA is ARGinine!
Karen, maybe if you didnt continue lecturing after the class is over you probs wouldnt get so many parking tickets (jk kinda). Dr. Hoober truly cares about all of her students and does everything she can to help you. Her quizzes and exams are incredibly difficult. Don't buy the textbook, her notes are all you need. Dont be afraid to ask her 4 help.
Best. Professor. Ever.
Dr. Hoober is one of the most inspirational professors at UD. She tries her best to connect with the students and wants them to understand the material rather than focus on their grade... which is difficult when there are only 3 (very tough) exams that are 95% of your grade. Tip: take advantage of the extra credit. May the curve be in your favor.
Dr. Hoober is one of the most entertaining professors I've had thus far. That being said, this class was one of the hardest chemistry classes, and never in my life have I received a grade lower than I did on the first exam, BUT she does give a lot of opportunities to raise your grade. She's also so funny and is willing to help. Her outfits are fire
Dr. Hoober is a sweetheart and her class was incredibly interesting! But, be aware that most people who do leave negative reviews, are those who believe getting good grades should come easy and not involve hard work or determination. If you do not believe this, you will greatly enjoy Biochem and learn more about your own work ethic in the process!
Dr. Hoober is a great professor! She genuinely cares about all of her students. I loved the class, and was able to do well by putting the effort in. She is a fair grader, so do the work and you'll get a good grade. Obviously the material is going to be challenging... It's Biochem. Suck it up & study, it's not awful. Oh& her outfits are adorable.
Very difficult material and Hoober does not present it in the most organized manner. She clearly knows what she's talking about but sometimes forgets that others don't. Very lecture heavy and few grades. Study often and go over lectures after class to clarify/fill in missed notes from UD capture. She goes fast and there's no textbook. DO NOT SKIP.
Loved this class! Dr. Hoober is so sweet and clearly knows what she's talking aboutVERY difficult, I took over the winter session which definitely helped though. Her exams are extremely challenging but she curves a lot at the end. Definitely keep up with the material and study a few days ahead and you should be fine
Dr. Hoober does not explain the information well. She knows what she is talking about, but doesn't understand how to explain it to people who don't know what she is talking about; which is everyone. You will be lost. If you don't have to take this class then do not take it.
Karen Hoober sets you up to fail her class. She does not explain anything, laughs at the class for not understanding the material, and her online resources have answer keys with the wrong answers on them. Also she doesn't know how to spell Sulfur (sulpher?? come on, Karen). If you want to pass this class, you need to rely on a tutor.
Yes, this class sucks and of course it's going to be hard, but Professor Hoober is the best teacher for the job. If you don't get something or get a bad grade, GO TO HER! She wants to help, which is something you don't see in every teacher! Put in a little effort for your grade and you will do fine. PS: She has never failed a student so no stress
I am writing this halfway through the course. The material is difficult but Hoober really wants to help you. Actually try to learn the material before complaining about it. Go to Hoober's office hours she is extremely helpful and it shows that you are actually trying. Do the sapling homework they help a lot and are great practice.
Although the material is difficult to begin with, with lots of studying it's not too bad. However, she makes the exams harder than they need to be. She aims for the class average to 65, that says a lot about her as a teacher. She knows what she's talking about but is often unclear at explaining topics even when questions are asked.
The material in this class is not easy! That being said, the people who complain about Dr. Hoober are blaming her for their poor grades when they are not putting the work in themselves. Every time I attended her office hours I always walked out understanding the concepts! Dr. Hoober does a good job in explaining difficult material!
I'm not that good at chem, but this class is HARD. gave me the most stress than any other class. It is curved, but if you study a lot you'll be alright. Hoober is great in that she gives lots of opportunity to bring your grade up. I was like 4 points away from a B-. I was getting 50s on exams and thats a C in perspective. stay on top of this class
Her class was so easy all u had to do was pay attention she's a great teacher. People call her hard bc they assume orgo is hard and don't put in work. If you actually care you'll get an A no problem.
Dr. Hoober is my favorite professor at UD. She seems scary but she is so nice if you go to her office hours. She is super caring if she sees you are trying. Tests are super hard so you have to pay attention in class. She also always has a cute outfit on.
She is an extremely nice and funny person, but don't be fooled by this, as a professor she is completely useless. She uploads powerpoints with no information on them, moves way too fast in lecture and somehow still gets behind where she is supposed to be and then speeds through important information. Tests are impossible.
I've always done bad at chem classes but Hoober made this class as easy as biochem could get. There are 2 tests and a final, clicker points for attendance, and online homework that's only graded on completion. The class is already curved but she gives you the chance to get up to 4% extra credit on your total grade and will curve exams if needed
This class is based off of exams, clicker points, and online homework. She is not a bad teacher, however, her lectures can be very hard to follow and I found myself teaching the majority of the content to myself and I never skipped a lecture.
With the speed and complexity of the course material, its hard to stay on top of it. I would suggest finding someone you trust to send you the notes so that you can focus on actually comprehending the material during lecture instead of struggling to copy it all down. It is also helpful to review what you have learned as often as after every class
Not a bad class overall. If you actually pay attention in lectures and take time to study you won't have a problem. Dr. Hoober makes the concepts easy to follow and understand. Her exams are hard but she curves.
Great Prof, hilarious and rlly cares about students
took this class over the winter which I think it really helped me. As long as you really pay attention and practice questions from the slides she gives you the class should go fine for you. She is very understanding if people were unable to master certain material. She also made the class light hearted which was something I appreciated.
During the pandemic, Dr. Hoober really did not make virtual learning any easier or accessible. Assignments and deadlines were unclear and hard to find, making it hard to stay on top of work. There was also no textbook, which made it very difficult to get ahead or reenforce topics.
This class is very difficult to begin with. Although Professor Hoober tries her hardest to help out her students, she never gives any clear instruction on anything. There is no textbook so when studying for an exam, you must rely on the notes. It's hard to review the powerpoints because they're half empty which makes students have to go to class.
Dr. Hoober does her best to help her students understand the lecture material. Although the class is difficult, it is manageable and she's very understanding and helpful when you reach out to her. She is engaging during lectures. She challenges us to do our best. I will definitely miss having her as a professor.
Make no mistake, this class is hard. Like, really hard. But there is no one I would rather have it with than Dr. Hoober. The class is a lecture-style for nursing majors only and Hoobie is aware of that. She caters to the fact that no one in the room is a chem major and works her butt off to get everyone who puts in effort over the finish line.
shew works hard, and is always available outside of class. That being said the class is the hardest class I've ever taken because of material. The class is 3 chem classes in one so there is no textbook. Go to every class, the lab is diffucult. your grade will scare you but it curve at the end. All nurses have to take it, and she knows its hard.
This is an extremely difficult course no matter who the professor is. Due to the pandemic, Hoober tried her best to make the transition as smooth as possible when moved online. She is always willing to help and ease your stress with your grade but you do need to work very hard to do well. She is a great professor, this class is just very hard.
this is the hardest class I've ever taken. I love the teacher, Hoober is great as a person, and you can tell that she really tries. BUT! The material is impossible. Chem was my favorite class in high school, and I'm currently failing chem106. I don't think it's hoober's fault, I think the course should be redesigned. and lab HA good luck sister!
I don't normally enjoy chemistry, but Dr. Hoober is a great professor and helps you out. She has a great personality and makes class as enjoyable as it can be. The textbook is only really used in the first couple of chapters, so it is extremely important to go to class. Overall, difficult class but is definitely doable with the right attitude!!
Hoober is a good person so you have to view her outside of chem106. The class is hard but the grading scale is adjusted. The tests are also hard and a 60% average is expected but she curves it. The lab is also very difficult and her TAs are no help and she teaches lab stuff weeks after weve done it. Its mandatory though so good luck!
Prof. Hoober has tried her best to make this semester as normal as possible being online for the longest time. She puts a lot of effort into making sure people succeed in this class. She also has many opportunities to get in contact with her if you are struggling. Success in this class means you have to study a lot but it's possible, its about you!
Dr. Hoober is probably the BEST chemistry professor at the University of Delaware. She truly cares about her students and their future endeavors. Anything said on here that's unprofessional and rude simply is not true. She is among the professors who had to adjust due to COVID and has done an amazing job. Need Biochem? I highly recommend her!!!!
Dr. Hoober is super knowledgeable and wants the best for her students at all times. Yes, this class is really hard but its not impossible. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed and its up to you to spend the extra time out of class studying If you want to do well. She is really passionate about teaching and it shows in her lectures.
Professor Hoober is one of my favorite professors I've had so far! She knows the chemistry she is teaching very well and is able to answer any question a student has. She cares very much about her students and wants everyone to succeed in her class despite it being difficult.
This class is definitely very hard, but it's a combination of three different chem courses so that's to be expected. I was never good at chem before, but Hoober does an incredible job at explaining the material and will clarify literally any question you could have. You have to put in work, but it's possible to be very successful in this class.
Dr. Hoober goes through the powerpoints and stops to go over examples and if people still did not understand she would continue to go over that section rather than just moving on. Mostly chemistry courses are hard and this one is no different but Dr. Hoober makes it understandable. She really cares for her students and makes class fun.
Please don't let these false ratings fool you. The class uses a textbook for a week of the whole course. The PowerPoints are uploaded with blank slides that she barely fills up. Sure she can dress but just a little warning that those looks aren't going to teach you orgo. And the transition to online was terrible. Stop begging for good ratings :)
Any reviews that were made during the 2020 global pandemic and gives Dr. Hoober a good rating is a lie. Do not get me wrong she is a nice person but Hoober has no idea how to adjust to online courses. I understand less about chem after this course. She is unsympathetic to the needs of her students and I am tired of her feeling sorry for herself!
She was an excellent teacher. People are way too hard on her because the course material itself is difficult. She makes sure to look after everyone's grade, and when COIVID-19 hit she made sure she let her students know she was there for them. She shows she cares about her students and work. Very knowledgable and smart. I loved her.
If you want a good grade in this class, you have to work for it. It's hard material; we're learning 3 chems in one semester. Dr. Hoober was always available to help and support her students. It's actually kind of helpful to have to fill in the powerpoints during lecture; it keeps you attentive. She also did accommodate and post full powerpoints.
Hoober so caring and wants the best for her students. She understands our stress as nursing students and wants to help. With that being said, you also need to put in time of your own, an A will not just come to you easily. She is such a kind, funny person who always incorporates examples in lectures and uploads lectures so students can rewatch.
Overall I definitely like Dr. Hoober as a person. She is super nice and funny and her fashion is iconic. Yet this class is very hard. There is no textbook to follow along with and she doesn't answer questions well. She goes on a lot of tangents and most questions aren't answered clearly or just aren't answered period.
I think that people don't realize how hard Karen is working. People complain about her during this pandemic, but don't realize that this is all just as bad for teachers as it is for students. This class is hard, and the people complaining are the ones who don't wanna put the work in. Karen is a GREAT professor, and truly wants the best for us.
Dr. Hoober is outstanding. She was my ONLY professor that continued to teach online and offered the same, if not more, support as we had on campus. The course is difficult; that isn't the prof's fault and Hoober actually does the best job of teaching the material while supporting her students. She CARES and that's rare. Love you Dr. Hoober!
Professor Hoober is a kind lady and makes you laugh some too, but this class is tough. Tough material and requires you to pay attention to the fullest. Don't miss class, and don't skip online lectures. She doesn't care about your grade, so give it up. She also is apparently too good to respond to emails too. Just an overall no from me.
Dr. Hoober was a good professor who cares about her students. It really isn't her fault that this class is so hard bc there is no easy way to teach this type of material. It was disappointing that she talked so much about grades being curved at the end of the semester and not to worry and then they were not curved. She'll give you a laugh in lectur
I saw Hoober frequently throughout the semester for extra help. She talked so much about how the grades will be curved at the end and they weren't. I think she only gives curves to the students who she believes "need it" which isn't always fair. It's also a struggle to get her to tell you what's going to be on the tests.Don't take the class lightly
Class content is mapped very well and is of very high quality. Only issue is that she usually only teaches this course during winter sessions which compresses the content to a nearly unmanageable state. If this class was to be offered during spring/fall it would be the perfect chemistry course. Tech savvy and very empathetic towards students.
Professor Hoober is a caring instructor who makes the tough material engaging. While the class is challenging, attending lectures and using resources like unstuckstudy can really help. Overall, a rewarding experience.
