Made the material interesting & relevant; fair grading but a lot of work

Karen is wonderful! She's so smart and it's so great learning from her. Although her classes require so much time and work, she teaches you many things that will be useful in your furture career. Great lady!

Dr. James is a wonderful teacher. She really knows what she is talking about and makes it interesting. I took a night class with her and it never got boring, even after sitting there for two hours. She is a wonderful teacher with lots of good insight. It's a lot of work, but I learned so much.

This is an easy class, BUT you do have to 2 perform role plays (as a salesman in front of 2 others students being recorded) that is almost half of your grade. So if your afraid of speaking or don't think you can make a sales pitch, might steer clear, but tests are easy and she does grade easy on the role plays. But role plays can cause anxiety

Mrs. James is great! Like Dr. Hinck, she is at LSUS because she loves to teach! Her classes require a lot of outside projects & reports but nothing too complicated.

The course load was quite demanding but the subject matter wasn't too bad. Take this class when you are not enrolled in any other classes. (like that will really happen when you're trying to graduate)

She demands a lot from her students but it all pays off in the end. She knows her stuff and is always willing to take extra time to explain anything one may need help with. If you do what you are supposed to do in her class you shouldn't have a problem passing.

I really enjoyed this class. It was a nice break from stats. Dr. James showed us what to do and then encouraged us and worked with us to help us achieve our goals.

Her other classes were not so bad, b ut DO NOT TAKE MARKETING 312 unless you have to! I am an A-B student and this was horrible!

OMG! Dr. James is tough!!! I made an 'A' but busted my butt for it. Tests are MC and very long essay. Gives way too much material to study. MC part is the hard part. Also gives projects with 20 page papers due. She is a very nice professor, but one of those that think that her class is the only one you are taking. Take it easy, Dr. James.

Dr. James is good at using online info to entertain class. She loves input from students and does not like it when people skip. The tests are based only half on the book,and the rest contains references from lectures( which use a lot of ppt), but she adds in things that should be noted.Overall, mkt 490 is a great class!

By far the hardest class I have had in college yet. This class made me doubt my major a few times. Take her seriously when she says that you must have a flexible schedule. She makes you do so much work, it is overwhelming, but it helps to actually retain the information as well. She is by far one of the smartest professors I have ever met.

The KEY to her class is having a flexible schedule. If not, you will find yourself in a frustrating situation. You have tons of projects and her tests are written, but it's easy material; just a lot to cover. Karen is bubbly, provides GOOD examples, and CAN hold your attention. PLEASE provide an easy schedule for yourself. something I regret.

It requires CRITICAL thinking for this course. While it was interesting, it was a lot of work, but not difficult. We have multiple choice exams with statistical problems (SPSS)and tons of other assignments. She gives great examples and is ALWAYS helpful. If you study and listen to her lectures, you will have NO problems at all.

Wonderful professor and person. Dr. James knows how to teach online and assists in the learning process. There is A LOT of material to cover, but she's available to help with any questions. The assignments are complex but relevant to the course. I learned so much from taking her class. I'd recommend her over and over again!

Let me first say that this is a graduate level course, so if you expect it to be easy, you are mistaken. The content is not difficult, but the critical thinking required may be challenging. Dr. James really cares about your success and will work with you. Lots of writing, research, quizzes, and 2 in depth marketing plan cases; but I learned a ton!

She is a good educator with high standards, but gives fair warning in the beginning of the class. Be prepared to think critically, long assignments, perfect grammar, and a huge time commitment.

Dr. James is a fantastic educator and while her classes are extremely difficult and time consuming, she goes above and beyond to answer any questions and concerns that students might have. I am doing well in the class because I have worked hard and followed all the guidelines she set out for students. It's important to stay organized in her classes

When students enroll at a school like LSUS they probably don't expect a professor like Dr. James. She is a wonderful professor, a best selling author (market research) and exceptionally kind. That said she is one of the toughest and demanding professors ever. But she is fantastic. Do what she asks and you'll earn yourself an A.

I loved this class! With that being said be aware of the amount of work and writing. It's a lot!!!! However, she was engaging and made herself available often for students. She also has student teachers who provide great feedback and writing critiques.

Dr. James warns that you will need to spend 20 hours per week in this class. That is not an exaggeration. There is plenty of extra credit available to help with grades. She offers many video conferences and is always willing to help. I thought she was an excellent instructor and would be happy to take her class again.

Expects students to give their 100%. Quizzes for online course are proctored so read all chapters thoroughly. Some bonus opportunities available.

Dr. James was helpful and open. She was available to everyone and provided online meetings to help with comprehension. We did a marketing simulation for the first time in her class and I did well on it. Marketing isn't my cup of tea, but she is a good professor. Quizzes can be difficult though.

She was always available to help and in the beginning held multiple Zoom sessions to ensure you could ask questions. Once people started tapering off from the Zoom sessions not as many were held. The class was overwhelming during weeks 3-6 b/c of the project. While not tough VERY time consuming. Ample opps for extra credit.

I was prepared for this class and teacher to be very difficult based on prior student feedback, but I found it be to fair. There was a significant amount of reading and work required on papers, but that was expected. I actually had a baby right in the middle of the course, and still managed to earn an A. I found Dr. James to be very resaonable.

Dr. James really cares about the students, topic, and teaching. LOTS of reading and assignments. Take alone. Not a good combo class! Takes the work of 2 classes. Offers extra credit. Exams are not as minute as most, but more than say acct/fin - less emphasis on grades.

Marketing 701- Lots of reading! Read it all! The test questions will be random small details. I wouldn't take another class with this one if you are working full time. The project is 40% of your grade and it's about 45 pages over a few weeks. A couple extra credit options and one mulligan test. She cares and will help if you need it!

Dr. James puts more time into teaching her class that you will spend time writing papers, and preparing for exams. Expect to spend over 30 hours a week on this class between weeks 3-6, and 20-25 hours during week 2. You will feel a sense of accomplishment when you hit week 7 and receive your grade.

Class was very rigorous however Dr James was fair and gave lots of extra credit. If you do the work it is an easy A.

I really liked Dr. James. The class was demanding but that is to be expected in a Master's level course. I appreciated the demand. It is a lot of work but she is an easy grader if you can show understanding of the material. The tests are a bit difficult so work hard on the assignments. Also, she offers a ton of extra credit. Overall, great proffess

MKT 701 is very demanding at LSUS. There is a lot of writing and research required along with weekly exams and forum assignments. Dr. James provides tones of information, materials, and her own personal time to assist students through the course. MKT 701 is a difficult course, if you have to take it, I highly recommend Dr. James.

work intensive. tons and tons of reading, 1 giant project split into 2 big parts, weekly tests, occassional discussion forum. she gives extra credit here and there to help things out. nothing excruciating - just very time consuming. don't fall behind because it'll be an uphill battle.

Dr. James is very accessible and involved. The class is interesting and the reading load is acceptable. The problem is trying to fit a full semester marketing project into a 7 week online format. The major malfunction is that short grading cycle requires starting on part 2 of the project before getting a grade on part 1.

Course was worthy of it's master level status. The class consisted of a test every week, a few forums and 2 paper projects worth 40% of your grade. Reading assignments are doable, but can be a little long. Teacher offers enough extra credit to help give you the boost you need. Paper projects require a lot of research and prep time.

MKT 701 was definitely a time consuming class, but it was a very easy A. There are 25 question quizzes/exams based on the reading for the previous week. The reading can be cumbersome at times, especially during the weeks when the project/papers are due. The grading is generous and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Great Class Ovrl

As a caveat, this was my first class in my MBA program after 26 years after attaining my undergraduate degree. Dr. James is a great teacher, she responds to emails, has office hours, and does sincerely seem to care about the students and their learning. This is NOT an easy class, but a lot of practical information. Follow formats when submitting!!

I'm pretty mixed about this professor. You will learn a lot, but she will kill you to get all the work done. It's an unnecessarily excess amount of work, and the quizzes are designed to critically evaluate your logic (in a marketing class). She means well, but needs to pump the breaks. All of that said, I learned a ton in her class. Way too much.

This class was amazing, you will learn by a firehose but you will learn! She is tough, regimented but fair! If you make an A or a B in this class you certainly worked for it! I would take any of her classes again, though I cannot say I would want that type of stress in my life again! Good luck

A lot of readings, but they are VERY helpful with the other assignments such as papers/discussions. There is a lot of work but it is not difficult. If youre planning on just getting an easy A you shouldnt be in grad school in general. Loved Dr. James. She is always available to help & makes the class fun with videos.

To be fair Dr. James is not a bad professor. The class is very helpful, and honestly I took a large amount from the class. The B was hard to swallow as this is the first MBA class I have received this. I feel as if the quizzes are not necessary as it is quite challenging to get through all the reading. However, she is very accessible and kind. 4/5

I love Dr. James. I saw so many reviews with people complaining about having to read so much and spend so much time on this class. Surprise! This is an MBA program. Its not supposed to be easy. And the MBA student handbook says be prepared to spend 30 hours a week in each class. If you cant spend the time needed go to University of Phoenix.

Test every week, paper every week including 2 20 page papers. Easy A but you have to work for it. A lot of TAs so plenty of feedback and accessibility. Good class, and good teacher compared to some others in the LSUS online MBA program.

You will work in this class! I know it's an MBA course, but this is one of few classes that I had to treat like a full time job. The exams are verys specific so know every term and picture from the text. Dr. James is extremely helpful and is quick to respond to inquiries. There may be easier instructors to take, but you will learn a lot.

Lots of reading in the course but that's to be expected at this level. If you don't have adequate time due to work or other considerations you may want to take this course alone. Reading and exams are pretty straight forward. Grading is fair.

Dr. James is transparent about her expectations. Was my 8th class in the MBA program, and it was the absolute hardest I had worked. DO plan on spending 20-30 hours on reading & assignments if you want a decent grade. I do not have a marketing background, and found the materials educational and easy to understand, but there is a lot each week.

This was my first MBA class @ LSUS. I enjoyed the coursework. It was kind of heavy, but she gave us sufficient time to get things done.

Lots of papers that are LONG. Lots of reading, usually 70ish pages a week. The material is interesting, and the grading is very fair. She is extremely accessible outside of class - she responds to emails quickly and holds office hours multiple times a week. Tests are not that bad. I would take her again, definitely recommend!

Professor James is very nice and easy to work with. By biggest recommendation is going to office hours especially week 2 and 3 because you will get a better understanding of what she expects. There is a test and paper every week and it is a lot, I also work a full and part time job. Week 2 is the hardest and if you get past that you'll be fine.

Dr. Karen wants us to succeed. It was pretty cool making up an item and writing about it even though the papers were long. No issues with turnitin just be sure to follow all the directions and plenty of extra credit and you'll be fine. Heavy on papers and they weighed more than the weekly quizzes. Don't slack off the last week, it'll ruin your prep

Dr. James is a leader in marketing strategy and her approach is very academic and exhaustive. I learned about every different aspect of pricing, branding, messaging and everything else involved in strategic marketing for business application. Great teacher, would recommend to anyone in the program.

Professor James was great, but her exams are pretty tough. I do not recommend cramming in all reading in one day unless it is a have-to situation. Even if you struggle on the exams, the discussions are worth more points, so an A is still possible. Overall, I enjoyed her class.

This class was a lot of work but I believe I learned a lot from it. It is a lot of reading and writing. Would suggest taking it by itself.
