Dont take the class, very unclear, doesnt review for tests until 5 mins b4 class is over or just doesnt cause she runs out of time. Doesnt give enough time to do in class things.

She is the worst teacher that I have ever had at SVSU. She is a complete airhead and is very rude to all students. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. It will just put you in a bad mood, and you have to go to all of them because she assigns the stupidest busy-work.

It's women like her that make me hate feminists even more. She isn't from the area and its way too obvious with her "rich person" accent.

Terrible Professor. I strongly recommend that know one in there right mind should take her. She doesn't explain anything very well. You could learn more from a dyslexic chimpanzee.
I HATE THIS TEACHER AND THIS CLASS. SHE SUCKS!! SHE CONFUSES HERSELF AND NOT TO MENTION THE STUDENTS. WHY IS SHE ALLOWED TO TEACH, IT IS APPARENT THAT SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW.

Okay, first of all, she wears the same dang thing every day! She looks like Mama Bear and it looks like she hasn't brushed her hair in a month. Her eyebrows are too short and this makes it distracting, trying to listen to her ramble on. Scatterbrained!
She is a terrible teacher...very confusing and assigns a lot of busy-work. If you get bored in her class, which you will, count how many times she says "OK" after speaking, or "Wow, that's so interesting"
She makes absolutely no sense. I think that bashing my head against a brick wall until I bleed to death sounds more entertaining than that class. Lectures.... not needed for exams, you are better off memorizing the book.
I recommend taking another professor, she is a nice lady, but a horrible teacher. Always says "ok"!!

This class was so bad. The tests were over things we didn't cover in class. She gave too much work and expected work from undergraduates at the graduate level.
I highly recommend that you not take this professor for anything since she doesnt appear to know what she is talking about
all you do in this class is busy work...she needs to know we have lives outside of class...very annoying voice and tests have stuff on them that wasn't covered in class...

she is a nice person but as a prof she is not one that i would ever take for any class. she is not at all organized and she changes assignments without telling anyone and she can not remember what she tells you to begin with

Not very on her material. Should not be asking studnets to interview elderly people. This is an introductory course not an graduate level course. Save research and interviewing techinque skills for 400 or higher level classes. Very smart but yet remember those people who have mental disorders.
To ace the tests, study the chapters, the study guide, and the online practice tests. The notes only cover about 1/4 of what's on the tests. She gives assignments and then doesn't collect or mention them the next day!! Requires a group project, which is a pretty big pain in the neck.
Everyone here is correct. But professor Lang is a nice little woman. If you stay on her and document everything she says with proof of the documentation, you're home free! We did it in this class and got out of alot of work. But the "class" itself must work together!
I didn't like this class. She is very unclear about what she expects and I have asked numerous times for help on my project and am still waiting for it today(the day its due).
Her homework and extra credit is REALLY easy. However, her lectures are boring because she's so monotone and her tests are kind of hard. She never goes over stuff that's on the tests in class. I'd take her, just be ready for some studying and be funny...she likes that.
DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR! Take this somewhere else and trans fer it in. She is the only one that teaches this major required course at SVSU. This is like throwing money away. She is so unorganized in class structure and focus it's amazing she remembers to wake up. You will hate this class. DON'T
Horrible Prof. I do not recommend for ANYONE to take her. She expects you know everything in the book. If your lucky she may tell you a few things on the tests and then it isnt even on there! DO NOT TAKE HER!

Lang-Krause is the worst proffessor ever! She never talks about what is on the tests- If you want to get a good grade on the tests get on the website and take the multiple choice test. She is very bad..dont take her run for the hills!!!
This class wasn't that bad. She is a nice lady, and her homework and extra credit proves to be helpful. Study only the studyguide provided with the book, do not read the book, and you dont even have to go to class. But the class overall was interseting and halfway decent.
If you don't need this class, DO NOT TAKE IT! This professor was the worst prof. I have ever had. No one in our class knew what their grade was throughout the semester. Many students went to the dept. chair, and the dean on her, to complain.
One day I drove over to class and she cancelled it, and then made all the students stuff envelopes for her research project. The sad part it was a bigger help than her lectures.
This was supposed to be a sociology of gender class but she has taught it more like a social inequality class--I know more about the differences between the races than I do about gender now. Don't take her.
Teaches like a high school teacher, lots of random group work assignments in class, gives straightforward lectures, if you read the book and study the notes you will do fine. I would suggest doing the quizzes online bc her questions come from them. gives a lot of extra credit.
Class was fun. She gave lots of EC. Lets the students flex with deadlines. Tests are difficult but come off the website. Research projects were interesting. She is a bit flighty at times though.

she is not as difficult as everyone says. the class is challenging, but if you show up to class and listen, you will do fine. she is very flexible and listens to the students. she does have organizational issues, but her flexibility makes up for it.
She gives a lot of assignments to do outside of class and they are only worth like 2 points. some presentations are worth 3 points. it's stupid. her voice reminds me of nails on a chalkboard. don't take this prof. if you value your sanity. total feninist in the worst kind of way.
Dr. Lang-Krause was a very confusing professor, ignored questions from her students, and didn't even show up for a week of class. Tests were easy, except for the final which no one knew anything about. 90% of the class guessed on the material, because it was nowhere to be found. I would recommend anyone else, but unfortunately there is no one else
techer is very unclear, and deviates from lectures as well as constantly stating she will come back to discuss. never does. She writes comments on paper, and you can't decipher what she has written.Sheis the only one that teaches SOC 326 she practically does what she wants to with no regards.
her voice made me want to shudder every time i heard it. screams in class, don't sit near front. very strange grading, everything is worth 3,5,8,11 points, nothing worth any points. mess up on one thing and you're screwed. tests on stuff not covered, found words on tests i'd never seen before, and i acutally tried and studied
Dr. Karen is very unclear about everything. What she says will be on the exam usually isnt check out the henslin website for all exams thats where she gets her material from. She makes weird noises when she speaks so be prepared if you sit up front. Just act interested and she will like you. Her favorite prase is "That's interesting."

I hated her, I hated the class, I hated everything about it. She is VERY unclear on what she wants and is horrible about assignments. If you have a heavy class load aviod her at all costs. You will work harder for this one class than you will work in an entire semester. NEVER AGAIN will I take her!!
Karen Lang Krause is a FABULOUS prof! She is the reason I became interested in sociology, and decided to double major. If you gave her a frown, it's because you were lazy and didn't do the work! If you miss the opportunity to spend time with her, and learn from her, then I pity you!
you either love her or hate her. very unclear with assignments. thinks she is infallible. class isn't too hard, just read and pay attention to lectures. it's also a good idea to show up for class. exams aren't too bad, but the class can get boring.

She is an okay professor. She does cover alot of material too quickly, but at the same time, if you follow along and actually do you work you'll be fine. She does take alot of her test questions from the text and the online center. However, she does tend to ramble about where she's been and what she's done. She also is VERY feminists..watch out guy
My friend and I were doing so bad in this class that we just started laughing at everything she did. Like every single day she would ask if everyone had a copy of the syllabus and the right book. Even after midterms! And the way she wore her hair, it looked like she had no eyebrows. That always cracked us up. Oh yeah, one more thing: she's evil!
She is a little unorganized and there is a LOT of out-of-class work but I really enjoyed her class. If you read your book and make an effort you will do fine. She's actually a really nice woman, despite what others have said.
Karen is an amazing professor! I've learned so much from her class! She is a very flexible professor and she is very nice. The only way you could do bad in this class is by not reading the textbook and studying. Most of the kids who say they don't like her are just saying that because it's what they heard their friend say.

She offered a lot of extra credit opportunities and if pretty much the entire class got the same question(s) wrong on a test, she'd throw the question(s) out. She may not be a good teacher, but she wants her students to do good.
Worst professor I have ever had. She basically makes it all up as she goes along. There is barely a syllabus, which she doesn't follow, and she will randomly assign 10 page papers about India even if it has nothing to do with the rest of the class because she went there.
She is a very nice lady and is willing to help you as long as you are willing to help yourself. She does tend to move rather quickly through the material and sometimes focuses more on where she has been and what she has done rather than what the test will be over.Definatly not the easiest but is willing to help you and wants her students to succed.
She was a very rude and inconsiderate woman. The class has nothing to do with anything on the tests. We wrote useless paper on China, because shes been there. It has nothing to do with what was in the book.
This class was a very difficult/frustrating class, but as long as you pay attention and ask questions about the assignments and projects and work hard on your research you'll do fine. Basically do all of your assignments and turn them into vspace on time.She barely lectures, so you need to be self motivated and able to study and learn on your own.
Tests are over the practice book that you buy. Not too hard of a class, I didn't read the book but still got an A. Gives extra credit opportunities.
Just read the book, don't listen to her. What she lectures on will not be on the tests, and some of what she says actually contradicts the text. 90-95% of test questions come from the study guide and tests make up 90% of your grade. Easy class.
I didn't enjoy this class at all. I feel that if I was more involved in the class, I would have enjoyed it more. The class was difficult and I never really understood what she was lecturing about. I'm sure she's a great woman, but I really just didn't appreciate her teaching style. The class was boring and useless.
I would not take this class if you have any other options. She is unhelpful and her lectures are never on the test. By the end of the year kids weren't even showing up for class anymore. Her test are from the book. Your better of reading the chapters and teaching yourself.I would never take her again.
I had Karen for 111 & 305. Worst teacher at SVSU. Not helpful, I emailed/talked to her when I had questions & she was very rude! 111 was a joke & in 305 she expected more than necessary for an undergrad class. Said she would review for exams but did only 5 mins @ the end of the class before. If she doesn't like your thoughts, she will put you down.
She is a terrible teacher! I do not recommend her. I am interested in sociology, but the way she teaches is NOT helpful. I am an A student and am getting a C in the class. She is unclear and unreasonable. Her "review" does not help at all!
She is very disorganized. She is not computer savy even though she teaches and online course. She gave the final exam and pulled all the question from mysockit.com but used them fom the 8th ed instead of the class' 9th ed that was required for the course so students couldn't study for the final online. She makes a lot of mistakes. AVOID AT ALL COST
All she ever talked about was her trips. A question on a closed book exam was about a picture in the book. Something like, what is the girl doing in the picture on page 23? The first final, nearly everyone failed, so the rest were open book, because she can't teach.
Dr. Lang-Krause has high expectations of her students. Class was not easy by any means, in fact quite tough. She was always available by email for clarification. A lot of work, but well worth it, I learned so much!
Really poor teaching abilities. She refuses to give help to students who ask for it. She is a very tough grader and keeps every student very busy. Avoid at all costs, it is not worth it.
I have nothing nice to say about this professor. She won't work with you when you miss an assignment and grades very strictly. I am taking the online version of her class (not intentionally) and I hate it. You have to read the material on your own and figure it out. She says she will help you but she usually won't. I would not recommend her.!
Online course-you HAVE to read. She lays out a tentative schedule & follows it. Homework combination of videos, short essay & discussion board. Does not accept late work but offers extra credit opportunities. Four quizzes & final exam-multiple choice/short answer & term project. Quizzes are difficult. A lot of critical thinking.
Took this professor twice. First time she was horrible. The online class was better than in person, but she was still unclear on EVERYTHING. Rude through email, and not helpful at all. I just had to take an online class due to my schedule, but I do not recommend. She is also not fair on grading. DO NOT TAKE
Nice person, terrible teacher. The class is online, except for the first and last three weeks. While in the classroom, she does not teach whatsoever and constantly talks about herself. When you ask for clarification on assignments she is not helpful in the slightest and then grades the assignments harshly. Take this class with another teacher.
I took 333 online. It wasn't too bad, but she didn't specify how the class was run and didn't use modules to organize the assignments on Canvas. Didn't know that most of the information I needed was in the other textbook with the disorganized assignments. If you read both books though, you'll be fine.
She is the most difficult professor ever. Her assignments are very unclear and when you try to contact her for help, she is rude and doesn't adequately answer questions. She isn't on campus at all this semester and because it's an online course, it is nearly impossible to communicate. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. By far worst prof I've ever had.
She is not a good teacher. I really had no idea what was going on the entire semester. I just coasted through. Her expectations for the assignments were very unclear. To make matters worse, she was not helpful in answering questions either. She is very bad at communicating, especially through email. The final exam was online.

I've taken 3 online courses with her and I've gotten A's in all of them. She is bad with emailing and she only has office hours one day a week for one hour but she is eager to help students who seek out her help and come to her office. She loves when students come to her office and it will go a long way for your grade to reach out for help.
She has very bad communication skills especially when your unclearly on a assignment. She can be very rude with her responds and doesnt help you to understand what exactly she wants . The quiz can be hard and you arent able to see what you got wrong on them . I wouldnt recommend taking her
This class was awful and very unorganized. Assignments were unclear and you never knew what was expected. She doesn't put in any effort to teach this class powerpoints are not her own and there was no actual material for this class it was all websites without specific links and random videos that didn't relate to the material.
She was so bad, I wanted to give her a zero. But thats not possible. So, I gave her a 1.
