AVOID!!! Especially if you are greek!!! She is a bad prof and has it out for anyoje who is not ugly!
she is such an awesome instructor! she is extremely nice professor! her lectures are clear and easy to understand. all you got to do is take notes and listen carefully. i thought her writing assignments and written exams were extremely easy. i got A's on them so far!
SHE'S GREAT!!!!!
Aviod at all costs! Doe snot know how to teach. I got an A, but i wasted a semester of my life with her! Boring and self indulged!!!!
ok..im greek (& not ugly either)& I adored her! i got A's on everything, like 7 people in the class got 100% on the midterm. I loved her..she incorporated movies, tv, music, and literature into the class to make concepts easier to understand. Went to her office hours and wound up talking for hours...
Nice teacher. Assigns alot of books, we read excerpts rather than the entire book. Get to watch alot of movies (interesting ones & couple of boring documentaries. No homework (except reading), just term papers and exams (all essays). Mostly lecture, couple discussions. Prefers quality vs quantity.

Do not take this teacher. She def makes this course 10x harder than it has to be.
she is an ok prof. lectures are mildly boring, but interesting in some aspects. movies were very good and related very well to the class. sticks to her late homework policy, but was very lean-yent (i can't spell) on rescheduling the mid-term i missed. ignore the pretty/greek comment said // below //
Not bad, beneficial class and a fair teacher, as long as you speak up in class it's chill, she presented interesting material too.
She is rad!Is very helpful when needed, I wont lie some lectures were boring but come on how many teachers include so many films in her lectures to make you understand better? She is the most liberal teacher ever, she is all about the students, NOT self-indulgent!Makes tests easy for those who go to class and those who dont what more can you ask for
I think Prof. Linkletter is an amazing teacher. She actually cares about teaching and wanting her students to learn. I love the diversity in the course, it really made the material much easier to handle. Overall, if you put the time in, you should get an A.
if you speak up in this class, attend regularly, and attempt to do well on your papers this class is a breeze. i didnt do any of the reading and got an A
great teacher, made history 300a understandable, interesting and fun. got to watch pulp fiction and relate it to postmodernism. made understanding the different types of history interesting and not dry.i would recommend her to anyone.
She is pretty cool and easy enough, just don't piss her off. Turn your cell phone off in class because she has no tolerance for you to be text messaging you boyfriend! If you read the books, you will do great. If you read some of them and or parts of them, like i did, then you better speak up in class and pay attention to lectures.
I had her a few semesters ago and I must say that she is great professor! Her lectures are clear and easy to understand. She is also friendly and helpful. I got an A in her class! She's the reason why I decided to declare American Studies my minor!

I love her! She is a really nice person and a great teacher. She makes the class interesting and she likes to show movies! Just do the readings because even though she doesn't talk about them in class she slipts questions in the test and has you do papers on the readings.
SHe's ok, if you really like history then take her, otherwise I would not recommend her. 2 papers and 1 midterm and 1 final. Seems short but difficult though, good luck!
pretty good teacher. Did her best to make lectures interesting. She likes to show moves and do class discussions. There are only two papers and a midterm and final. Read the books because they are on the tests and thats what you write your paper about. Pretty laid back class.
2 papers and 2 exams, plenty of readings to do, enjoy that cuz it was boring, lots of lectures about subjects like race, class, equality, etc. No hw but really pay attention on lectures and STUDY
Easily one of the best professors at Fullerton. Good taste in films, too. I wasn't even interested in the subject before taking her class but somehow she made it interesting. Take her!
an average teacher i suppose, no hw but plenty of writing to do, 1midterm, 1 final, lots of reading(some are very boring) you may like her, you may not, take her and see. Overall her teaching is simple.
She is a very fair professor she will help you if you need it. She seems hard but as long as you pay attention and go to class you will do well.
She is a fun and smart lady. However, i didn't like the way she taught and thought that it was just an average class. She really considers partcipation and for students who don't feel comfortable speaking aloud, its unfair. Buying 5 books and just sitting in class wasn't the best.
if you like written essay test this class is great as I enjoyed it and learned alot yet she could be vauge at times she was fun to be in class with but expected yo u to participate.
Great teacher! She makes the class as interesting as she can! Lots of writing and reading. Most of the stories are interesting though. She has a good and up to date style of teaching! Grades fairly easy on midterm & final, she doesn't expect you to know everything, just what she stresses on. Try to go to class on A.V. days(there on the test)
I <3 her. I really wish she taught a 300+ amst class. The readings are BS, she goes over them in class. I only bought one book, lol. Just repeat what she says in lecture on the MT/Final and you will be fine. I got a B and I didn't go the 2nd half of class or do the 2nd paper BUT I had a high A during the 1st half. VERY EASY. TAKE HER!
Very good lecturer - clear and concise about the information. Her midterm and final exams are fair, but quite long - but on the good side she grades very fairly. I felt I had learned a lot, and I would definitely recommend her for any history-related GE class.
not so easy of a class. hardly discussed the books in class, so its up to you to do the reading. the lectures though were incredibly interesting and entertaining. you will learn a lot!!
Excellent lectures, loved her class, just read the readings that she assigns, don't sleep in class, and review the notes she posts online, and you'll do fine in class. MAKE SURE TO PARTICIPATE.
very nice teacher. fun to talk to and her lectures are interesting and educational. She definitely encourages strong participation and makes students aware of what is necessary of them but her grading is pretty tough
Avoid the class,just that!!
I'm taking the class at this moment in the Summer 2007 session. Everything is going great!!!Karen E. Linkletter, if you are reading this I just want to say you are smoking HOT!!!!!
very nice if youre respectful to her. not your typical history class. you learn about the "why" not so much about the "when" very interesting, would take her classes in the future.
avoid this class!
Great professor. This class is very educational. You learn through assigned readings, class lectures, movies, music, other in class examples. Participation is a must Learned American: comedy, class, race, gender. Grade is based on 1 midterm essay, 1 final essay, 1 "research" paper, participation grade. Linkletter is approachable. Great professor
For the people who said avoid the class... you probably should not be in college. Just because she makes you read and analyze the text not just regergatate it does not mean she is difficult. I learned so much by doing this. She is a fair grader and most likely the most intelligent teacher I will ever have. 4 gold stars!!!!!
Easy class, interesting writing assignments and intriguing reading material. Just make sure you attend class and take down notes. I got a 96/100 on the midterm by basically memorizing my class notes and by also reading the selections. If you can attend class, write down the notes and read, you'll get an A.
Stay Away! Shes prob. leaving herself the only good comments.
This class is soo boring. Her tests are hard, grades papers hard and accuses everyone of plagarism. DO NOT TAKE
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Unless you want a lette sent to you from the dean because SHE says you plagiarised. She some how managed to find 13 students in 1 of her class & 19 in another that plagiarised. Now I think that says something about the professor, not the students. Her tests are hard and readings are boring, unless you want a F stay AWAY!
Read, read, read. You wont do good at all if you don't read the assigned materials.
she is a good teacher the people leaving the bad comments are prob the stoner bros she made the topics interesting would deff take this class again
Prof Linkletter is a nice lady, good teacher, but there's nothing special about the course, this is the one class where it was possible to get out of class early. Exams are all essay, read the material and take good notes and use the study guides she posts as a reference.
Professor makes class interesting. Reading will hurt you if not done. All the answers are in the guides she post on blackboard. Teaches the class and compensates somewhat for class' stupidity, overall you earn your grade, and she makes it easy to earn.
So honestly she wasn't a horrible teacher. To make sure you pass read the material and just don't Plagerize. Show up in class because otherwise you won't get the questions that have to do with the in class movies or discussions.
REALLY GOOD TEACHER. there is a lot of reading but the class is really interesting. If i fail this class i will take her again. there are 2 papers. one midterm and one final and your out. she makes it fun but you have to attend in order to understand the mideterm and final.
If u like reading & writing, this class is 4 u! the movies r interesting too! the debate was the highlight of this course 4 me! VERY nice lady and she has a special way of teaching the course!don't procrastinate! EASY A if u understand the purpose of the course! ALL tests r essay questions! She enjoyed discussion & knowing ur opinion! Recommended!
she rates herself. this class sucked. AVOID IT!
-Important to read the books. -Prof makes funny jokes once in a while. -No attendance checking after a week or two. -Should go to class: esp. for lectures/documentaries. -Tests=essays/short answers. -Participation can be earned through reading pop-quizes, online discissions, in-class partic. etc.
GREAT professor. It feels like a real college class and not a high school extension. Do the assignments - bs-ing last minute in this class won't work. Take this class - the things I learned changed my life.
Professor Linkletter is by far the most chill and funny teacher I have ever had. She cracks funny jokes in between her lectures to lighten the mood and gives out treats during holidays. If you have any questions she will clearly answer them for you. She makes you think under the surface of what is obvious and opens an entire new way of thinking
Such a great professor who has a passion for what she does. Thi is a hard class, lots of reading, but as long as you read and study hard you will do fine. I loved going to her class and she has a great way of keeping your attention by making the topics very interesting! Take her, she gives u a different perspective on American Culture! Study hard!!
I never read the books for outside reading and received a B. I just attended class and took ample notes for lecture. Class is pretty interesting and it makes you think about all the things that make us American. Linkletter is an extremely fair grader and is very understanding. It is obvious that she is passionate about what she does.
Excellent professor! She's extremely knowledgable in the subject. She's down to earth & I found her office hours to be very helpful. She's a fair grader & makes the material interesting. I defintely recommend her.
GREAT professor!! amazing personality and passionate about her job. her lectures are interesting and makes the class really enjoyable. test are easy but you have to read the books. fair grader and is very helpful! i really enjoyed her class
she's the best! this class is not an easy a at all but she is so entertaining and very passionate about her job. the class was 2 essays, midterm, and a final. the midterm and final are tough. i got an A on one essay without reading and a C on the other and i did read the text. I failed this class the 1st time I took it, but I passed with Linkletter
Amazing Professor! She is so nice and even you take her online she still treats with so much respect as if you were taking one of her classes on campus. Shes very organize, test are very creative, loves hearing your thoughts. You will really enjoy this class, just remember the deadlines shes veryy strict on those ;)
Awesome energy! Professor is very passionate about her subject. 2 essays, 1 midterm, and a final. A's on everything. E-mail her your outlines and drafts for the essays! She will definitely help you out on content. Use her comments and suggestions. For exams, look over notes. There is mandatory discussion boards on BB for participation points.
This professor is one of the best in teaching American History. She is passionate about her subject. You will learn a lot about American Culture in a nutshell! This class is a must if you do not know anything about our American culture. You have 2 Tests, 2 Essays and at least 1 quiz. Go on discussion board and post every week or so for credit.
Online Class: Very organized; clear about her expectations; communicates well. Weekly readings, movie clips, discussion post, and post response; one analysis paper; essay midterm and essay final. Highly recommend her, but not the course. It's thought provoking to a point, but the material gets tedious after a while.
Great Professor! Online course that was very clear and organized. Great option for History Students, provides cultural context to American History. Available and helpful during office hours. Do the readings and discussion boards and you will do fine on the midterm and final essays. Essay project, but you get to pick the subject. Great lectures!
I REALLY LIKED THIS CLASS. WORTH THE MONEY AND TIME YOU PUT INTO IT. THE MATERIAL IS INTERESTING AND DOESN'T MAKE YOU SPEND A FORTUNE ON BOOKS. I WAS ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THEM ALL ON MY KINDLE AND MADE IT EASY FOR ME TO READ. MIDTERM,PROJECT,FINAL EXAM AND DISCUSSION BOARDS
I took the online class, and personally, I found that very few people took the discussion boards seriously. So if you put some thought into your responses and tie in the material to your papers, you'll do fine. She gave me 100's on everything, and I'm not normally a straight A student. I highly recommend her.
Fun and enjoyable class. Prof. Linkletter is very informative of her lectures and many of them can be connected to present day conflicts (which are most of the time topics for the discussion board). VERY EASY to forget these discussion boards! Make sure to do them ahead of time. She also has pop quizzes so make sure to read articles assigned.
She is very passionate about her work and will make you think about the everyday conflicts that existed in the past and continue to exist today in America. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take her! Test will be hard if you don't know your material well enough so don't miss class!! Other than that, she is easy. Just take notes and you'll do well.
She is a very fun/funny teacher. Attendance not mandatory but if you miss class you miss the whole lecture, nothing is online. No textbook, just need to buy reading documents that is $20. Supposed to read every night but people don't, only use the readings for tests. Tests are essay questions which are not very hard as long as you pay attention.
She is freaking awesome and funny! Her lectures are very interesting. she is passionate about what she does and it shows through her teaching.
Online Class. Interesting topics discussed in this web course and she's a very knowledgable professor.Weekly discussion boards nothing too hard and she shows pretty good movies every week.
Online course was easy I for one liked the readings she chooses good books for the class and movies too =)
One of the better teachers I had at the school. There is reading online. Two papers, a midterm, and final. Participate in class, she really likes that. If you need help, she will try her best to help you. She made the class more interesting. For the tests, make sure you read the require readings. It will help you to get a higher score on your test.
301 online as long as you do those discussion boards you can pretty much fail the mid term or final and still pass. There's reading but you can get a summary online. easy class
my mom had emergency surgery the day before a paper was due 50+ miles from my house. my mom died on the operating table and had to be revived with a second operation. linkletter wouldnt give me an extension on my paper and that is the only reason i got a "b" in this course. totally unreasonable. she was the worst teacher i had at csuf
She is an AMAZING professor. You will learn a lot from her class, but it requires a lot of work (TONS of reading). As long as you keep up with readings and attend her lectures, you'll do fine. She shows very interesting films as well. :)
Professor Linkletter was one of the few professors I enjoyed having. Her class isn't too difficult. If you want to do really good in her class, you will need to pay attention in class & read the assigned readings. Some of the readings are long and boring, but they will most likely be on the tests. The midterm/final pretty much make your whole grade
Professor Linkletter is a well organized teacher with an excellent interest in her subject. I did mind her readings though, they could have been EXTREMELY long. One reading took me two whole hours straight to read. She also gives pop quizzes on some readings, so its important to attend class prepared or you'll miss these key points.
This class requires a ton of reading as she has weekly discussion forums about the books on Titanium. I bought all the books and never read them but only referenced them when needed to. She's a great professor and is always in a great mood! You HAVE to go to class to take notes to pass her class as the tests are essays! Good luck!
She's a great professor! Didn't buy any of the books, and didn't do the reading and managed to pass the class. You have to attend class if you want to pass the exams though.
I took this as an elective (collateral) course and I thought it would be an easy enough B or C. Our final paper MUST be 2400 words, or it's a failing grade. I didn't realize this was a pass or fail class. No other teacher is that ridiculous.
Took her class online. Overall the material is really boring stuff. Two discussion board posts a week. At first she didn't really read them, gave you full credit if you just did it but that changed 3/4 through the semester. She is a very helpful professor, I met her in her office a few times. Overall class is't difficult just boring material.
Dr. Linkletter is a wonderful professor! Her teaching is immaculate and she makes the topics fun and interesting. Her enthusiasm and passion for this topic is contagious! She helps her students out and is always available during office hours. Just be prepared for a lot of reading and writing. She's fantastic and I highly recommend you take her.
AVOID at ALL COST!!! The hardest grader by far I have ever had at Cal State Fullerton. There are forums every week, 4 participation exercises, a mid-term and a final. Her tests are all essays and are mostly based on readings which can be very long. If you want an easy class DO NOT take her!!1
This was an optional course I needed to take for upper division cultural diversity. I should have taken ANYTHING else!!!! The paper was ridiculous, it felt more like a book. Really tough grader. Ended up being my most difficult class all semester.
This is by far the hardest GE course I've ever taken. More reading than ANY class should require, lectures, projectsexams are all written essays requiring several pages, and weekly discussion board participation (initial post and response). I did my best to try and listen to lectures and read but very tough grader; received a C on everything.
Her lectures are very interesting and she shows a new movie every other class to demonstrate her topics. However, she is a very tough grader and all assignmentsexams are written so you will need to brush up your writing skills to survive. Pro tip: The more you show that you have read the readings, the more points she will give you on exams.
This teacher in my personal opinion was extremely easy when it came to grading papers. All of her tests are based on readings, visual material in the class. I got an A- in this course without reading any of the documements at all. The key to her papers and her essays, is using the language she presents in class. Learn the key themes she presents.
Probably the most boring class I have ever taken and it was an online class. her lectures are dull and she assigns so much reading! Four books total plus additional reading she assigns. I have never had so much to read in one class. Unless you love History stay away from AMST 301. Her tests are all essays that relate lecture to material.
*weekly forums, midterm & final (essays), optional paper She is great other than: -readings are TOO long and So many (3+ hours to complete) -optional essay (instructions on syllabus didn't match what she said) she was extremely passive aggressive when asking for help^ -never got an A (only 910) & never got feedback **YOU MUST read**
This class was way too much work and difficult. I cannot sell my books back either so the course was costly. She is an extremely tough grader and you only get 24 hours to do the midterm and final. You use the reading all the time so if you plan on taking this class buy your books now and start reading. Good Luck keeping up!
This class requires sooooo much work for a GE class. She is a tough grader which was no help. The way she teaches is unclear. I honestly thought I was going to fail this class since I got a D on both the midterm and final(essays). But as long as you do decent on the papers and weekly discussions, you'll at least pass with a C. Would not recommend.
I actually enjoyed this class. I wasn't expecting to. There is a lot of writing assignments, but it's expected for an amst class. She's very helpful in office hours-she wants her students to succeed. READ! It's a lot to read but it's crucial for the midterm and final. She tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Challenging but doable.
Linkletter is a great professor. She really knows and energetic about the topic during the lectures and discussions. Attendance is not really required but it is highly recommended because what you learn will be very helpful for the mid-term and final exam. Mid term and final exam are challenging but if you attend every meeting, you will pass.
Teaching style is clear and logical. She makes sense. I enjoyed coming to class. I did not find her an unreasonably hard grader.
Lecture (10-28minutes), reading (a lot), & movie clips (15+minutes). Forum posts are sometimes irrelevant to reading, but books are used for tests. Tests are essays (prompts are super specific!) Don't take this class if you are a bad writer, procrastinator or don't like to read. Course is pretty much analyzing ethnicity, gender and immigration.
Took this professor in spring 2014. Honestly I loved the class personally. She had a lot of articles to read and provided a different perspective to history to the 4 subjects that she decided to focus on for our course. I personally did not read most of the articles and actually scored A's on all the essays. Read and go to class, and you'll do fine
Was inundated with emails each week of complaints about all the grading she had to do (maybe don't assign the B.S. weekly discussion board postings?). Lectures were dated and boring. I didn't get anything out of this class. I want my money and my time back :(
I took this class online as a required upper division GE and REGRET it. There is way too much coursework required for this class. You are expected to watch a weekly lecture which is anywhere from 15-25 min, read supplementary materials, watch a video, read 4 books throughout the semester and participate in an online discussion board. Do not take.
Overall I enjoyed this class. Its a lot of work but she tries her best to provide interesting materials to read. Very lecture heavy. Both the midterm and final were short essays on readings so be sure to stay on top of weekly activities. If you hate reading I would skip this class. Also if you prefer a professor who is tactful I would skip her too.
She is a terrible teacher! Always gave attitude when set emails about unclear questions for assignments. 10 page research paper for a GE class. Sent weekly excuses emails about being be hide on grading when she took a week and half off for vacation. She grades super tough. Four books which are expensive. I wish i had my time & money back
The class material is not hard but she is very picky about grading.
She gives weekly quizzes online and you have to do well on those to do well in the class. The final and midterm were essays and you need to study a lot for them. Overall she was really nice and was very knowledgeable about the subject. If I could take her class again I would do try harder on the quizzes because those impacted me the most.
Loved this class. She is a very kind and helpful teacher. She loves her job and wants everyone to be excited about history. She keeps it interesting by showing videos and connecting with students. I had trouble on the tests because they are in class essays. However, she was very helpful in preparing for tests. Do the weekly work and you'll be good.
Picky about grading the exams. The quizzes are doable but you have write a paragraph or two every week. Barely passed this class with a C.
There are too many books to read throughout the semester, especially if you take other classes that require you to read their textbooks. The books are fat and expensive. So many Essays to write too. Midterm and Finals are essay exams. If you like reading and writing essays this is the class for you. Overall she's really nice and and average grader.
She is sarcastic (in a good way) and has that perky vibe with a good sense of humor. You will learn a lot in this class, and enjoy doing it. There is a lot of information, but it is not impossible.
There were 4 short assignments, a paper, and a take home midterm and final on the assigned books and lecture. Both are doable as long as you take good notes during class. I got A's on all the assignments, missed a few classes, and only read one book out of the 4 assigned. If you put in an effort and listen to the lectures, you will be fine.
Professor Linkletter is a great teacher. There are a few participation assignments, 1 paper that is based on one of four in class reading books, and the midterm and final are essay questions due online. While attendance is not mandatory, it is definitely worth it to come. Great teacher. You must buy/rent all four reaching books.
Professor Linkletter is a very entertaining lecturer, she always tries to make the students laugh with small jokes. She gives out a writing assignment every week but they are super simple and easy credit to receive. All of her exams (including the final) are take home! Super simple class as long as you attend lectures!
There are four papers throughout the course. No sit-down midterm or final exam. She did try her best to make the lecture enthusiastic. If you want an A, you have to go to class and take really good notes. She is a tough grader when it comes to papers so make sure you write well. Weekly one to two page papers. Big papers are turned in on turnitin.
Professor Linkletter is a pretty good Professor just make sure that you do not do your exams (essays) last minute because she grades hard on them.
The professor was really good at explaining the material and she did require you to read, but its not overly excessive. She was particularly in grading, but she is VERY understanding with any problems. Her exams are take home. Overall I would take the course again.
Awesome professor, would take this class again. she made all of the topics super interesting and easy to understand (and she's funny). Her grading is fair, although there is a lot of writing it is all pretty easy to do. As long as you take good notes you should get at least a B in class
Professor Linkletter is a good teacher but she is a tough grader and you have to work hard on all of her papers in order to get a good grade. She is a very interesting teacher and encourages group discussions but she has a lot of homework. Her test are two essay questions and they are very difficult. Good teacher but definitely a lot of work.
Online class was very well organized. But she did require a good amount of work. Each week we had an online lecture, a movie, and discussion board that was due. Had 3 exams. Each exam consisted of 2 essay questions. She's a pretty tough grader and makes you work for it. Lots of critical thinking/analysis questions, they weren't easy questions.
I recommend not taking this class online, just because of the workload. I think I would have done better in-person.
