Temporarily taught class till new teacher found. She is very easily, she shows step by step and makes sure you understand everything. Highly recommended.
Dr. Mills is one of the best Math teachers I have ever had. She goes through everything step-by-step to make sure it is clear. I would commute to a different campus to take a class from her if I needed it. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
She is a great teacher goes through things step by step ......shes great take her learn from her!! she will help you!!!! ALOT!!! I promise!!
one of the best math teachers i ever had at ircc.. will go out of her way to help you if there is something you do not understand.. if you want an A do the hw , take good notes and you will be fine

good teacher!
Dr. Mills is a heaven sent professor. She has been the most considerate, helpful professor i've had. She would go above and beyond the call of duty to help her students! God bless her!
she's cool and fast paced
Dr. Mills is an exceptional facillator. Few teachers are of this caliber, especially at the college level. Hats off to someone who not only loves what she does, but actually enjoys seeing others learn!

Dr. Mills is an awesome teacher...all the way. She takes a vested interest in students learning and succeeding! Not easy subjects, but the best teacher to have for such...
Mills freaking rocks! She is the greatest math teacher ever. She will help you if you need help...shes is great
Dr. Mills is a REALLY sweet teacher. She is alway willing to help a student that has a question with anything or even struggling. i felt comfortable talking to her about career plans and what i have to do to maintain my "A" i Recommend her greatly!
Very good teacher! Very helpful and understanding. Explains everything in detail so you never miss a beat. She will be the best choice by far!
She is a good, easygoing teacher with a giggly & bubbly personality. She doesn't jump around in her teaching, and gives examples which are really good.If you thoroughly do homework you'll do fine on tests. She's always availabe after class 4 as many questions as you need. I'm NOT a math person AT ALL (still not) but her class is excellent!
She is a very good teacher!! She explains the lesson, then goes over many examples- step by step-which is very useful when it comes time to online quizzes. The online quizzes can be tough but use the examples given in class, and it easier. I enjoyed her class, and recommed her to anyone who needs to take a math class.
dont take, Im warning you.
when she works out problems on the board, she writes them faster than she can even speak. not enough review. she isn't very organized with time. the class average on the first test was a failing grade.
Test is the best math teacher I ever had since high school. She does every math problem step by step, so even though one may not be good in math she will one understand one principle of math.. may even come to like math. All you have to do is go to class and the what she say to do and one will pass with flying colors.
HANDS DOWN THE BEST MATH TEACHER AT IRCC. Amazing teacher. Knows her stuff, very helpful. Will review ANYTHING you need help with. TAKE HER!
AWESOME TEACHER.TAKE HER CLASS. THE END.
She is okay at teaching but she is SUper Nice!! i got an A in the class nd i am horrible at math! she is very lienient with tests and is very approachable
one of the best math professor IRCC have
Best math prof. at IRCC. Very helpful. Only downside? She will make sure you learn math, no shortcuts here people.
This is hands down the best professor I have ever had! I am am in the middle of her class now, and am doing great! This is my third attempt at this class and I know that I am going to pass! The nicest person you will ever meet!
Take her, she is extremely nice and has a passion for what she does. You definitly don't find that too often. She is very smart and knows how to use her intelligence to be very clear in her teaching methods. She doesnt like you to do shortcuts on your calculator but it will benefit us all down the line.
di u get it? she does not care
Dr. Mills is a great professor and it is obvious that she enjoys teaching math to her " Little Einsteins ". She gives good career advice and I would recommend taking her if you really are interesting in understanding math. She does not teach by means of the calculator like some of the other professors.
Two reasons to take Dr. Mills: You enjoy learning more about math than just how to use your calculator or you are going on to higher level maths. Dr. Mills will better prepare you for higher level maths than any other instructor I know. If you hate learning math and do not need to go higher than Calc 1 I guess you could take an easier prof.
Shes a clear teacher, all she does in class r examples. They help u understand what 2 do. Do all hw and u will do fine on tests. Tests r really easy & Straight-forward, nothin tricky @ all. She didn't do Maple which Im kinda glad b/c it can get annoying @ times, but thats only me. If u want a really hard teacher, then she isn't it, but u wil learn!
Yes, she's a very nice person but ... if you're not good at math, and can't follow when someone goes extremely fast, this isn't the professor to take. She goes so fast she makes tons of mistakes, then doesn't explain how 2 do it right ... very unorganized as well. More than half the ppl in my class are lost.
great instructor highly recommened...
She is a dedicated teacher. Who undersatands students needs. A+ Teacher. No complaints
Do not take this teacher for summer sessions. Way too fast, makes mistakes in examples, makes mistakes in grading tests. Nice person but does nothing to help students. No preparation for tests whatsoever. BEWARE do not take for summer sessions!
THE BEST MATH INSTRUCTOR OF ALL TIME!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I struggle in math, but not in Dr.Mills class. She explains everything, and explains it well. If you think she is hard, or "too fast" you haven't been at IRCC for too long, she is the BEST!!!! GO DR.MILLS!!! :)
Dr. Mills is a good instructor for students that already get Math. Very hard for slower learners. It seemed that half the class dropped before the summer was over. Would recommend for great math students, not for students that struggle. Was a hard summer class. This is my 3rd Math professor and while she was good, she was the weakest of the 3.
she is too great, i do NOT like math but she made it interesting. she is sooo nice and she will spend a lot of extra time if you need it. SHE LOVES TEACHING,WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!
Classroom enviroment was very tense and negative. Expects students to think critically, but every single student was getting frustrated due to lack of clarity. When frustrated students finally vent, became initimidated by students' questions, and blames students for not understanding concepts. Worth seeing for yourself before Drop kicks out.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Explains things well in class, but her test instructions are hard to understand, browd... DO NOT TAKE HER!
ridiculous
this is an amazing teacher, she makes learning fun. I mean i thought math was boring but she brought a fun sassy side to it. loves her !!
who ever said this is a bad teacher is clearly an idiot. She is just Amazing
um who ever said that the classroom is not fun and tense..clearly has a problem. Even though sometimes math gets boring, but Dr.Mills does a spactacular job of finding a way to make it intresting.test are hard, but dont give up!!! work hard and it will pay off
I would not recommend. She is extremely unorganized and makes lots of mistakes throughout class discussions, making it hard to understand the right way to do problems.Grades tests incorrectly.I received a low score on a test because I didn't follow her specific procedure even when I got the right answer anyway. When asked, she said I had been warned.
Wacth out on 95...lol
Does not really help and assumes that everyone uses math everyday(formulas, conversions, etc). Her examples are nothing compared to what is actually on the test and the text book provides very little help(you basically have to learn this on your own, better off taking an online math course). Really nice person, needs to learn to teach better.
I had dr mills for pre calculus and she's the best math teacher ever!! she is so joyful and her happiness is present to all around her! her tests are difficult but she teaches everything that's on the test..love her
Will only pass you if you buy her a BMW. thats only a passing score for a test... Chooses the hardest problems from the 4 corners of the world, and makes them more difficult...IMPOSSIBLE! Mrs. Miller is your best bet.
If you can avoid it, don't take Dr. Mills! Her tests are very hard, and she doesn't explain anything. I've made A's in math classes my entire life, but I had to withdrawal from Dr. Mills class because I wasn't going to pass. Don't take her if you want to pass!
You would think that she would take a hint that something is wrong when 90% of her class does NOT do well on her tests...but you thought wrong.
The only way you can fail her class, is if you are stupid!! She is SOOOOOOOO easy to pass!!
Get this...only 7 out of 28 people passed our last test in Calculus 1. She "doesn't know what else to do." Whoever is leaving the messages on here saying she is the best teacher ever is obviously delusional...class average on that test was also roughly a 50%...if that tells you anything about the tests/teaching.
anyone who says shes a hard teacher isnt trying hard enough. she teaches to the best that she can, she cant help it if your stupid. She offers extra credit and shes an over all good calc teacheer she makes it as simple can be. CALC IS SUPPOSE TO BE HARD !!!! GET OVER IT
Nice teacher, hard to comprehend half the stuff that she says because so goes extremely fast. She enjoys teaching, the grade you get is the grade you deserve, you HAVE to understand the material in order to pass.
She is a very helpful teacher, not her fault material is hard.Gives ton of extra cred., u could go to her office hours & she'll always help. She can go fast sometimes, but if you tell her to explain again she will. A lot of ppl found her hard, but I thought she was an allright prof. Do all the HW, it WILL help! I would take her again!
Her morning class was awful. She obviously doesn't sleep at all: e.g. she'll go into "manic-driven giggle-fits" for her mistakes at least once a week. She makes examples that are wrong at least 1-2x a class: thus sections of your notes are useless. She just goes thru the motions. Hates interruptions, even legit questions. Frustrated easily/daily.
She makes THE HARDEST TESTS in the world. If you are thinking about taking her for Calc 1 DO NOT TAKE HER! I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE you will DO POORLY. Ask ANYONE who has taken her for Calculus, they will tell you the same thing, DO NOT TAKE HER...Take it with someone else, she is RIDICULOUSLY HARD, this is coming from a straight A student too...

Regarding the comment below. i just wanted to say its totaly B.S. none of it is true. if that person never passed the class, its prolly due to their irrsponsiblity to keep up with the work. I think Dr. Mills is awsome, she keeps you focused, and is sincerly fun to learn from. Calcullus isn't suppost to be easy, what you put into it is what you get
probably one of the best math teachers around, her tests are exaclly what you would think she would test on. Very helpful, shes always in her office if you need help. Math isn't suppose to be super easy, but she makes it as simple as possible, with good examples.
the kid that said there is no way to get an A is retarted.I know at least 8 students that got A's in CALC. Her tests are hard if you dont do anything, easy if you study and is an accutal student!!. get over your selves people calc is suppose to be hard..
I agree with most, calculas is a hard class. Thank god Dr. Mills makes it as easy as possible. Examples she gives in class are so similar on tests. If you do homework and come to class you will get an A. If you need help go to her office!! shes always there to help

Dr. Mills is a fair teacher. She taught Calculus III over one summer session. Her first test was not quite reflective of what she assigned as homework, but her second one was. She encourages class discussion of the ideas being taught. Overall she is a solid teacher.
She was a great teacher, as long as you keep up with the modules and write notes there should be no reason why you can't pass her test, which were only 15 questions SHORT :)
I you do the work, you will do very well in her class. She provides you with EVERYTHING you need to know to get a good grade on the test. My favorite math teacher at IRSC so far. I had a blast learning from her. For those who say she is impossible, it is the material that is difficult. Dr. Mills does a fantastic job of explaining it.
She's ok. But I really don't get to ask very many question because she does alot of T.V. courses for like precalculus and calculus, trig and college algebra.
Calc 2 is a hard class. If you take Dr. Mills you will know your stuff when your done. She is a good teacher.
The best teacher ever!!! I got an A in her precalculus class and now I'm following her to a different campus for trig. I live in port st lucie and am going to Vero now just for her. I would follow her around the world if i had to!
IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET IT, YOU ARE GOING TO GET IT AT HOME. DR. MILLS MOVES EXTREMELY FAST. YOU WOULD THINK IT IS THE SUMMER. THE QUESTION IS CAN YOU KEEP UP? AND DO YOU SEE IT?
She is sooo awesome please take her she is extremely helpful she breaks down every thing gives extra credit man she is awesome. I highly recommend her to anyone that math is not there subject. and she is very exciting with her teaching!!!!
Dr. Mills moved slowly through the easier chapters and then ran out of time for the hardest chapter and sped through it. She is very particular when grading her tests. You must write out everything. Very few people got A's on the tests, but she gave extra credit and might drop a test grade.
SHE GAVE ME A SECOND CHANCE AT LOVING MATH!!!
Dr. Mills is a very professional and very intelligent woman. She has a nice personality and goes over all material covered in the tests. She presents a HUGE amount of information in class, and holds you accountable for all of it. We started with well over 40 people in the class and in the end there might have been a dozen to sit for the final.
Dr. Mills was great! I had previously withdrawn from this same class the semester prior with a different professor, and Dr. Mills walked me right through it no problem. And, it was a summer class so it was quick. Otherwise, gave us a lot of second chances and a take home test! =) Recommend taking her summer class or not. She is great either way! =)
goes too fast-will not allow questions that are legitimate wish i had never taken her-used to love math
rushes in-talks toooo fast-does not leave room for questions. I am a straight A student and regret taking her. I stuy on the average 4 hours every night and am a whiz at math. she needs to explain. Wish I had not of taken her. Will never take her again-only becuase she rushes with everything. She would be more effective if she slowed down.
NEVER HAD SUCH A HORRIBLE TEACHER-GOES WAY TO FAST-DOES NOT CARE IF STUDENTS GET IT OR NOT. HAS A LOUSY ADDITUDE.
she will deliver you a high-speed failing grade and jokes about how if you dont get what she scribbles on the board, you are quite simply in the wrong class. worst teacher ive had, but i will give her the benefit of the doubt that she is a well educated women but not a teacher in the slightest.
Dr. Mills is very complicated! However, she does supply you with informative packets on the topics discussed in class. Her tests are extremely difficult if you do not go over the packet or do the homework assignments repeatedly!! I would know i finished with a B in the class after receiving a 44 and 45 on my first 2 tests, she does curve at the end
She is a very hard teacher. She has a nice personality. Her test are so hard have of the stuff I would stuff wasn't even on the test. In the beginning of the semester we had a class full and we ended up with 17 people. She goes really fast and if your lost she doesn't stop and expain it step by step.
She is an amazing teacher and incredibly nice! I love her method and mannerisms!
She makes the homework worth the exact same amount of points as the final exam.
Had here for calc 1 and 2 and i received a's in both. She is a very good teacher. can be a bit rushed at times but the amount of material in calc requires it. Her test are the pinnacle of hard and do not simply follow the book. YOU HAVE TO STUDY and will lose many many hours of your life studying but will come out the other side a mathematician
Excellent teacher! Definitely one of the hardest at the college but one of the best as well. If you work hard in Dr. Mill's class you will be fully prepared to transfer to any university but don't expect an easy grade.
So glad I took her, what she taught me carried me through my calc2 class at my university. I wish I could've taken her for calc 2+3. Her class is intense and alot failed many of the tests, she claims to not even know what a curve is, but she gives alot of examples AND HANDOUTS! But her madness has a method and it has stuck with me. I got an A!
One of the best math teachers I have ever had!! Very funny sings when doing problems. She is a very helpful teacher!
She teaches very quickly! Sometimes I get lost because she gets so excited. I hate math and I am not very good at it. She has made it bearable but I'm pretty sure I'm barely getting a C. If you are good at math she should be fine for you.
She moves way to fast and is no helpful. Her tests are not always on information that we have even gone over in class. She told us she would drop a test and than didn't causing myself, and a few others to fail the class. We started with a full class and ended with less than 10 students. I regret taking her class and will never take her again.
i took her this semester and honestly i hated this class. the test are DIFFICULT . none multiple choice ! when i emailed her about my grade and dropping my class never responded . wish i withdrew. DONT RECOMMEND , shes nice but hard class
I took her for College Algebra this semester. She is all over the place, the tests are impossible (all show your work), she has to, or the class has to correct her constantly. Got a D in the class, while everyone taking Schram got an A. This was the worst class of my whole college experience because of her. Now I have to wait longer to graduate.
She is a nice, funny teacher, but her tests and her grading is terrible, I received a "F" in her class, I gave my all, never missed a class, finished all mathxl. No need to purchace the book. If your good heperfect, if your struggling even just a little DON'T believe me you will fail.
She goes through the class at a very fast pace.Calculus is a very intense subject that includes all the math rules, properties, laws of precalculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry, etc. She is overwhelmingly fast and if you don't get it right away and ask a question about it in class, she will laugh at you.I find it extremely annoying and disrespectful.
Dr. Mills is a great teacher and she brings a lot of energy into the class! She is passionate about teaching, cares about her students, and offers extra help. If you want to learn Calculus, I highly recommend her. I am in the same class as the reviewer below, and Dr. Mills has never laughed at any of us!
MAT1033 Summer II. Appropriatley paced. Professor Mills was a good professor; I would take her again. She teaches very well; referencing the book was unnecessary because she explained the problems well, and gave adequate time for the class to grasp the subject. She expects respect and attention. Must go to class & study if you want to do well
Being interested in math and naturally a math wiz, I went into this class confidently and she is very confusing! While teaching often you have to correct what she wrote and she argues with you. Tries to be funny but comes off very annoying. Be ready for the famous quote "do you see that?" it'll get on your nerves I promise.
VERY hard professor. Moves at a very fast pace and makes it known that you should be on top of everything you learned in College Algebra prior to this class. I wound up using the textbook a lot and teaching myself. ALOT of Math XL homework and very hard in class tests.
Horrible professor. She moved way too fast and was very rude to my class to the point where nobody wanted to participate. She told us that we wouldn't last a day in Calculus 2. Would never take her or recommend her. Only bases grades off of 5 exams, no curves. She encourages you to do the homework, however she never goes over/checks it.
Tests hard with critical grading, fast paced, lots of math xl, not very good with communication or extra help, got b but struggled, wouldn't recommend
Moved at a great rate. Tons of math xl and the tests were pretty hard. Would recommend her for those who have taken algebra in high school.
One of my favorite teachers!!Great personality and was very clear when teaching. I was nervous at first since her test were not multiple choice, but turns out that made me study harder and pass all the test. People are just lazy now and days and don't want to work for their grade, she can be tough but its worth it when its over.
Would not recommend this teacher. She moves very quickly and does not like when you write notes while she is talking. She is a very tough grader, barely anyone passes the tests. DO NOT RECOMMEND! No extra credit offered.
Great professor despite what others say. Her class is not for the faint of heart. It is Calculus! It's not easy to begin with. If you have questions, ask them. She will go over it. She moves somewhat quickly but you just have to pay attention and attend class. Her tests are straight from mathxl No quizzes Our final was multiple choice
she very nice and very good at math....
She is a great teacher! I looked forward to going to class every day! Of course, calc is calc but she explains everything and if you don't get something she won't hesitate to help you and she won't make you feel stupid she is funny and sweet, take her, you WON'T regret it! I'd take her again in a heartbeat. But study the problems she does in class.
Awesome teacher, she's so sweet and does so much to accommodate her students. As long as you pay attention in her class and study you will be fine. Tests aren't multiple choice but the final is. I strongly advise going to the lab to get help, if needed.
I took Dr. Mills for Calculus 1 and 2. She explains things incredibly well with lots of helpful handouts. Teaching math is her passion and she shows it. You cannot slack in the class and you MUST not only do but also understand the homework. Her tests are difficult, but if you study enough you will be prepared. She really cares about her students.
People think she has hard tests but really the homework is harder than the tests so if you do and understand the homework you will be fine. I personally just didstudied the examples she did in class and once I knew how to do those I did great on the tests. Loved going to her class, I would definitely take again.
Good teacher. Sometimes she seemed annoying but she was actually trying to get the class interested and understanding the material. Was famous for her dancing ballet to show how graph work.
She had a tendency to be condescending. She never liked to review even when we had extra time in class to do so. Everyone in my class seemed to struggle with her. She's a sweet person but a frustrating teacher.
she extremely nice but goes way to fast.. if one person understands then she'll continue.. doesnt like slow note takers.. test are very hard and no madder how many times she says it her test and not like the mathxl!
I don't even know what these people are talking about. I was not going to take her because of your reviews, but her class was really fun. All math classes are stressful but she made our class very fun. Tests aren't that hard, she will tell you what will be on the tests so practice those questions then you will be fine.
DO NOT take this course online!!!!!!!!!! Very confusing and very few questions on tests
She never replied to any of my emails... It's really important to be able to get in contact with your teacher in a timely manner when taking an online course. I wouldn't recommend her. I'm dropping her class.
She is a great teacher, she makes the class fun, if she feels like the class does not understand she will go over something again. You need to do the online work if she has some for your class because it is completely related to the test. If you are good at math you should not have any trouble.
The class is really tough, she goes through everything and is a good instructor. As long as you do all the assignments online and do your best on the exams, you can pass the class.
if math is your worst subject do not take Karen Mills. Shes teaches very fast and will continue on to the next section. Test are hard and lots of homework! Bright side she is really funny and seems to enjoy teaching it but it is not a class for people who struggle with math.
I'm a math major and got a 94 in trig, 98 in precalc. Dr. Mills is a lovely person, but the worst math teacher I've ever had. Her lecture clarity leaves a lot to be desired. I am struggling to keep an A - & the only reason I have decent grades is because my prof from 1114 & 1140 sent me all of her echo360 calc lectures! I'll never take her again.
She's an amazing teacher. If you need help ask & she will help you. She's really fun & understandable towards everyone. Tests aren't multiple choice but pay attention in class you'll do fine. Homework is great unlimited attempts & combines all the homework together for each chapter and puts it in as a test. No way to fail unless you don't try.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She does not communicate with the class, she just teaches off old notes she's written years ago and doesn't even ask if we understand. She teaches multiple chapters in an hour and a half class and expect us to know everything when she gives us OPEN ENDED tests, not multiple choice. I will never take her again.
Professor Mills is an overall good teacher and is very passionate about math. The only down side is that she moves at a VERY quick pace. I have always been good at math but I struggled at times to keep up with the material. If you struggle in math I really do not recommend taking her.
Mrs. Mills is a great teacher. I took her for summer one , passed with a B cause I procrastinate. Only bad thing is if you're good at math she teaches the extra long way to do certain problems. If your bad at math she's good for you she shows step by step . Show up and attend every class and it's a promised A. All notes are online and printed too.
What she teaches is basic, but the tests are exceptionally difficult, and not much to do with what she teaches. She does not grade homework, does not give assignments and no extra credits. She works the absolutely minimum for her money. Half of the class got "F" for the first test. Avoid her !!!!
Professor Mills is a wonderful Teacher. She explained the problem until you comprehend.
Dr Mills is one of the best math professors i have ever had. She is very fast, but if you dont understand something she will works with you until you do. Her exams are EXACTLY like the homework she assigns (i only had her for precal though) so you dont have to brace for any curveballs. Just take notes in lecture and do the HW and you'll do fine.
Her class is pretty straightforward if you do the homework. the tests look EXACTLY like the online work. i never had to even open my book. Just take good notes during lecture and do the online work and you'll pass. She also gave a take home exam near the end of the semester so that was cool.
I'll give it to you straight. Dr Mills goes at a fast paste, her exams are tough (you MUST do the homework and review your class in order to understand and succeed in her exams) and she doesn't grade HW, only test (5). Having said that, Calc is tough and she gives PLENTY of info and examples for you to practice. Not an easy A, you must work 4 it.
This was the first math class I truly struggled with. After each class, I felt like I learned nothing. Her pace is very fast. So if you take all her notes, you can't listen to anything she says because of the fast pace. If you have a strong understanding of math, she's a good teacher. If it's new material for you, I do not recommend taking her.
Calculus is a Crazy hard class! After the first week, half the class dropped. There aren't a lot of tests and tests are what your whole grade is. There's homework BUT it's not graded. No quizzes. And extra credit depends how much you beg for it. Dr Mills was so funny and will help you. But, you have to prove youre trying, esp for engineering major
knows what she is doing, very helpful
Dr Karen Mill is an amazing professor. I have seen some bad review on her for math. What most students don't understand is that you have to come to class in order to learn any level of math. Students now are such cry babies that they think when something gets hard they can just quit or say my teacher is not teaching well. Grow up! She is a amazing
Great Professor really cares about her student success... Not an easy class!!!
A very lenient professor who enjoys teaching students
summer class moved fast. covered everything, very clearly
First of all let me start off by saying that I received an A in this class. I took it for summer 1 and to me the class moved at a fair pace. Dr. Mills says that she has been teaching for several years but I don't believe her. She struggles with explaining the material to her students and if you ask questions she gets frustrated. Do not take her!!
Took Mills for Cal 2 during summer. At the beginning of the semester she told us that we should be studying at least 12 hours a week, I'd say that's pretty accurate. If you do the homework she hands out, getting an A is definitely possible. People who don't pass are the ones who think they can study a couple hours a week and pass for participation
She's a great person! Hilarious! But she is an absolutely terrible professor. She moves too fast and when we asked her to slow down she said "This is calculus, you should be able to keep up." If you're good at math, you should do okay. If you struggle like I do and need to see those extra steps, DO NOT TAKE HER. I 100% regret taking it with her.
2 1/2 hour long class, she gives us no break. Moves extremely fast, covering 2 to 3 sections of new material per class. I do all of the homework and attend class but it is impossible to keep up.
She is by far the worst math teacher I've ever taken. She gets mad for anything. Kid you not someone sneezed and she was upset. She teaches herself because she isn't teaching us that's for sure. She does not care she claims to have taught many years I do not believe that for the way she acts towards students. Save yourself the trouble.
Ok It is the end of this semester and I will more then likely get an A in her class. I am good at math so I was able to get good grades in the class. However, this teacher will make you feel like you are so stupid if you ask a question or if you don't do well. I never answer questions in class because if you say the wrong thing she will belittle u
Dr. Mills is a good professor. She gets upset over students who are late and/or use their cell phones, which is understandable. She assigns easy online homework each class and there are a few in class exams. The exams are exactly what the homework covers, so as long as you do your homework you should be fine. Moves at a fast-pace but very in depth.
Dr. Mills covers material quickly & could be more thorough on some. She doesn't show all of the steps, so make sure you remember what you learned in MAT1033 otherwise you might have difficulty understanding. I would not recommend her to someone who struggles in math. Other than that she was a good professor. 4 exams and MyMathLab make up your grade
Dr. Mills only taught for the first two weeks. She admits this was her first time teaching Quantitative Reasoning. The only way I was able to pass the class was by the work online (which shows examples and how to complete the problems). She allows a notecard for each test to help with formulas and notes.
Let me start by saying i got an A in her class. She has been the worst math teacher i have ever taken, she makes you feel stupid for asking questions, on the day of the final she took me out of the room because i was coughing and i was going to 'DISRUPT' her class , she does not teach she just gets on the board and solve the problems by herself.
Very helpful, explains things in a very understandable manner!
She is a wonderful person and I learned a ton, however, the way she grades exams will literally make you want to rip your hair out. Considering the fact that exams are the only grades in this class, I can honestly say that my grade did not reflect how much I had learned in the class. She's a funny person but the most stressful professor I've taken.
For starters I received an A in this class, however if you aren't good at math & can't keep up in a fast pace class, this isn't for you. Before taking this class I read the reviews, and all complaints held merit. Dr. Mills is easily frustrated, and will make you feel stupid for asking questions. However she did provide printed notes on chapters
The most challenging class I've ever taken, but with her, I was able to understand MAC2312. YES it requires hours of intense studying, and she is there whenever you need help. She cares about the problem-solving steps and will mark you for small mistakes, even if it's right, but it is very helpful. This class is for anyone willing to do their best.
Dr. Mills seems to enjoy teaching her students. This class does move at a fast pace, so it is important to be on time and take effective notes. There is homework assigned after every lesson online on Mymathlab. There were only four exams total, including the final, and most of them were similar to the homework assigned on Mymathlab.
She writes the problem and *most* of the steps on the board without verbally explaining anything. Moves too fast. Will belittle someone for ANYTHING. 0/10 do not recommend.
I like this professor very much. she was very clear in her instruction and very willing to work on areas that the class needed help with. She was very professional, but was approachable if you needed help.
Dr Mills wants to see you succeed! She delivers the information clearly and goes over problems several times, she makes participating fun and jokes with students, everyone has fun! I took her for a summer class so the workload was very heavy, she worked with the class to make sure each one of her students understood the material. DO NOT BE LATE!!!
Awesome professor, really wants you to pass the class and will reiterate things until you get it. Her lectures are easy to follow and her personality make it so fun. Took her for business calc and would definitely take her class again.
I will give her credit where its due, she is very intelligent for the fact that she has a degree but she is not a "great" teacher. She expects us to understand the math on the first try and if you don't, she will belittle you. Do not take her if you value your professors demeanor because she does not portray someone who wants you to learn and pass.
Dr. Mills is certainly knowledgeable in math. She knows what she is talking about, though it is generally up to you to process what she does, as after she teaches a concept she just skims over it like it is basic addition. The homework is your only way to save yourself if you do poorly on the tests. Study hard and you should do fine.
After going off of RMP for a teacher I thought Mills would be decent. However that was not the case, she is insanely fast and really expects you to know what she is teaching and if your not up to speed you are done. Homework is light I will say but you MUST STUDY ALOT!! Teach yourself because she will not
Homework isn't graded, but it really makes a difference in your test grades. If you have any questions, ask her after class and/or use Calchat / irsc tutors. Tests: (NOT multi-choice) she awards points based off your work, so you can still get points if you make a small mistake somewhere. She's a nice prof. with a good sense of humor.
For me Particularly she taught to fast. I would not take her again. I am normally am a good math student. However, I think that you should take at least Algebra 2 or Intermediate Algebra before taking her class.
I loved Dr. Mills she is an amazing professor! Although, calculus was pretty tough if you did the homework and studied her notes you should pass her exams. She doesn't give out study guides!!!
She is very strict and harsh on students. Her lectures are insanely quick, so it is easy to fall behind. She focuses very lightly on concepts themselves, instead giving lengthy examples. This makes it very easy to be confused by topics. You often have to teach concepts to yourself at home.
Although this professor is quick when teaching, her explanations are very easy to understand. She provides a lot of notes and her notes/MyMathLab assignments are exactly like the test, so review the units she is teaching. She is very fun, but quick. I took her for Summer B and it was a lot of material, but easy to get an A.
She's a great teacher and you can reach her during her office hours. The grade is based on tests since she doesn't collect the homework but the exercise questions she assigns serve as good practice.
she's so rude to her students! every time I would attempt to answer a question in class she looks at you like you have 3 heads. I answered a question and she laughed at me and said "thats the most absurd answer". do not take her she's not good at all.
Dr. Mills was one of my favorite teachers, I looked forward to going to her class because she was really funny and also made the class interesting. The class wasn't that hard if you study and do the homework she assigns. The key is studying and putting in the work outside of class because if you don't you will be confused. I would recommend taking
Very bad professor, very disrespectful to students when they dont understand the material already. Overall a terrible experience
The first class Ive ever failed! The homework felt like it was never ending, and she doesnt do reviews or study guides. She skips over concepts and expects you to know how to do a problem after shes only explained it once. Definitely wouldnt recommend if math is your weakness!
So, I got messed up when choosing my MAC1105 classes. This class was labeled as TBA under instructor so I couldn't look to see who would be teaching this class. Low and behold, I got one of the WORST professors ever. Yeah I'm not good at math, but that's why i'm there! Don't make me feel bad for it. Makes fun of students, has an attitude, just no.
She goes over easy questions for the whole class and skips over hard questions or will fly by them. Tests are not multiple choice and she gives no half credit for your work. She had 3 Mac1105 classes my semester and everyone out of those classes failed her first exam. They had to combine our classes together because so many people dropped.
Dr. Karen Mills is a caring professor. She cares about homework and exams, and wants students to do well. She wants students to complete their homework and study for their exams, as the homework is the same as the exams and quizzes. She encourages students to do their math assignments. She is an excellent professor.
She is very fair and does not except cheating. She always asks if there are any questions and takes the time to review. Solid choice.
Not a bad teacher, however, she's wasn't my favorite. Passionate about her career. Took her online and she went through subjects very fast however, lectures were recorded. Tests were 80% of the MyLabMaths she had us doing. Very strict on how we do the math. For ex for equations I couldn't use elimination process had to do the way she wants us to.
The optional lectures are beneficial to learn new material. To do well on tests, which are 70% of your grade, I would advise mastering all of the homework questions so you are well prepared for any type of question. Since this professor wanted all tests to be verified with shown work, none of my tests were graded until after I took my final.
This class felt very authoritarian to me, way more assignments than necessary, and everything had to be done exactly how the professor wants or else you fail
I DO NOT recommend this teacher AT ALL. Please save yourself. You cannot get ahold of her to save your life and your test grade will be put in weeks late. I'm currently taking her now and its getting worse by the day. She cancels her office hours and doesn't put out alerts like other teachers. Theres no place to submit your work for tests.
This professor does not respond to email whatsoever if you are in the online course, had grades go in late due to difficulties with mylab math and could not reach the professor at all to communicate my situation. Do not take this professor online.
If your in her online class, good luck. she never responds I always have to call the dean to get a hold of her. the last email I sent took 31 days!!! to get a response, unacceptable I would never recommend.
Online math is hard anytime. But she was very helpful.
I took MAC 1101 online. She's quite difficult to contact, and didn't really provide any information at all. We basically just did the homework on MyMathLab on our own time. If you read the textbook and watch the videos it helps a little, but the course was still difficult. With a difficult course she should try to help students.
This was the worst unorganized online class I have ever taken. You can do all the work and still fail, there is no response to your emails. The teaching material is dated many years back, there is no help. The schedule of activities will say one due date and then it changes, passwords will be needed for exams, and it is not given until late. RUN!!
HW, tests, and final are all on MyLabMath and HW shows you an exact example of how to solve the problems. 1st test is not proctored but everything after is proctored. The test/exams are an exact match to the HW. About 6-8 HW's due every 2/3 weeks which is not hard if you are good at time management. Would take again, she's nice through email.
Currently taking this class. I never review teachers but this teacher you should not take her class. I looked through the syllabus and have yet to find an email or office number to be able to contact her. She has yet to answer any of her student's messages on the ask the instructor board. Mine was the first one sent and it has been 5 days since.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. there is absolutely no way to contact her. i actually had to read on here to contact the dean and that's what I'm doing because I'm taking this class right now. her test you need a password to enter but there is no password that she shows. the people on here have been more informative than this whole semester. PLEASE RUN.
She is a great teacher, she is a bit strict on being in her class, not being on your phone, paying attention but she teaches very well and is very helpful and I did not understand algebra until now.
She helped me understand the material better.I have heard she doesn't look at emails or the course messages, but she was a good teacher to me I recommend.
If attendance was not mandatory I wouldn't bother showing up to this class. Lectures are unhelpful and I leave the class feeling disrespected and shorter than when I walked in. Unclear instruction, insane workload, there is no way to contact her outside of class. Will tell you that you are wasting HER time. Horrible experience please save yourself.
Basically if you study and put the hours in for calculus you can pass her class. She does goes very fast during lecture but if you have any questions just leave it for after class. In general she does teach calc very good even though hw isn't graded and you only are graded by 4 test. Just make sure to always review your hw and tutoring.
Dr. Mills is straightforward and stern. Its good in a way because she motivates you to complete your homework. I would recommend taking a in person class, if not hybrid. It has hard topics that she covers some problems in class but in a hybrid its not enough time. Make sure to be on time for you class time, she appreciates that.
Dr Mills is an amazing professor who really cares about her students and wants them to do well .if you are struggling in her course but you work hard and show up to class she has no problem helping you in any way she can so you can pass!
She doesn't teach well at all, and always have a dang attitude.
Be prepared to work. If taking the class online, you will need at least 10 hours a week to dedicate to do well in the class. You have to watch weekly videos that take time to get through. If you struggle in math and this is your only class, take this professor.
I have just started the class and from what I can tell she does not teach that well. She reviews half of the homework and told my class to wait until she reviews the homework then do it which makes no sense. And you have to show up to class which I find weird considering you would be better off just watching the videos in mlm.
This professor is so horrible, she made class 10X harder than needed. Feel so disrespected after classes, don't even feel like participating anymore, or even showing up to class. If you're a quiet person then it's even worse as she'll completely ignore you or disregard your question. Would not recommend anyone to take her class.
Worst professor ever
Never responded to her emails whenever I reached out for help.
Good luck trying to reach her. She never responds to her emails or bb messages.
Professor never releases test on time, Constantly extending due dates
Blackboard page is super disorganized and there's different due dates for different assignments. The actual material isn't hard but the teacher makes it 100x harder than it needs to be. She assigns way more hw than needed. If you don't do things exactly how she wants them she takes points off. AND SHE DOESNT READ HER EMAILS. Do not take this class!
Test that honor locked for every section (I believe there were 7 for me). Lots of homework so plan your week out. Doesn't really help much your basically teaching yourself.
honestly a great teacher. She is very understanding and if you are confused she will explain it to you. Doesn't really like when people are late but attendance is not really required. The test was pretty easy and didn't take up a lot of time about 30-45 minutes.
moves super quick, a lot of mental math, doesn't make it easy to ask questions doesn't respond to emails or messages, if she teaches omitting once shell have an attitude about questions later, isn't very friendly but acts like she is the first few days of class.
Class moves extremely fast and it almost feels like you're teaching yourself. Trying to reach out to the professor doesn't get you anywhere unless you're willing to wait a couple days. Be prepared during your weeks because there will be a lot of homework assigned. Extremely stressful class and overall I would not have a class with this professor.
Professor Mills is very kind, who takes the time to explain in a nonjudgmental way. I would take every math class with her if possible. Tests are basically the homework, understanding the homework will give u an A.
Dr.Mills is difficult to take for online courses. I have taken her in person and she is wonderful, but her online courses feel impossible to learn anything. All assignments are done in MyLabMath, but no lecture videos are given, only links to the MyLabMath textbook. I recommend taking her in person, I am only passing because of the ASC lab.
The professor does not have any resources to learn, me trying really hard in college algebra and being a math major saved me. You will be teaching yourself, again there are no resources to learn but the textbook. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HER IF YOU ARE BAD-SEMI GOOD/DECENT AT MATH
I'd NEVER take her again & advise my peers to not take her. Weird judgy/sassy tone sometimes when I asked for clarification, and she moved so quickly that it felt like I had to teach myself. I don't think I would've gotten by if I hadn't started from scratch myself on several topics. Don't take her if math isn't your strong suit. Look elsewhere.
This class was hard because the professor was not involved (unless you sent an email perhaps?). It was self-taught. The only positive was that the tests were basically the same as the homework but with different numbers, so at least what you practiced was reflected in your test grade. Would not recommend for those not mathematically inclined.
When I first took her class she seemed nice and sweet. A few weeks in she because so rude, mean, and inconsiderate. She gave me and attitude infront of the entire class for no reason. I was warned about her class but I didn't take it seriously. Never take her for anything. She is an extremely rude professor.
The overall grading criteria was an issue. Two test are worth 60% of the grade which it was not at first it was 30% which had me passing but the day before the gradebook closed it changed and my grade dropped 18%. I was unable to do one test as the date on the schedule was wrong leaving me with a 0%. I would not recommend online.
Every single test is honorlock, esp the final EXCEPT the quizzes. Do not take this course unless you can dedicate time to it. This was not a difficult course, but memorizing the formulas take time. Each module builds off of the last, so have somewhat of an understanding of the previous module or you will struggle with the next. VERY graph heavy.
This class was online but it was very bad. You have to teach yourself everything and her online hours are at horrible times and always get cancelled. Her grading criteria changed multiple times and tests are 80% of the grade.
This professor entered the wrong grade for me and two other classmates as a final grade. had to take the mathematics department i just chose to leave it alone at that point. horrible communication never responded emails or course message.i also called her an left her a voicemail prior to the final grade being inputted so that she could fix.
I'm almost certin this teacher is R**rded but honestly I wouldn't know because I can't contact her. The entire online course is all incorrect information. There are two seperate sections for quizes/test and then just a section for course work. It's all honerlock except for the quizes but they're locked. The dates are wrong, no teaching,no help.
This is the absolute worst professor I've ever had. If I didn't know any better, I would think there was no proffessor even assigned to the class. She does not respond to calls, emails, or course messages. I would never reccomend taking her class to someone. I can't even believe this woman still has a job teaching.
This has been one of the most frustrating classes I've taken. The professor's grading is inconsistent, and she often falls behind on the modules. When we asked for clarification or examples before exams, our questions were dismissed. I wouldn't recommend this professor to others.
Professor Mills is an amazing teacher. I don't know why she gets so much hate. The class really isn't hard. She explains everything step by step in her videos. The exams are all honorlock, but I did the practice tests, and I always end up getting an A on the exams. I've had her for college algebra and business calculus, and she's a great professor!
Great teacher, hardly at class and still passed.
This professor never answers messages, emails, calls... nothing. She will make you look stupid in front of the class for asking a simple question, if you have the option, avoid her. If not you'll be fine just pay attention and find some tutoring for help with material.
She never responds to emails and is very difficult to get ahold of. Honorlock always had password issues which made test taking very hard. If you can't get ahold of her go to the chairman and he will reach out to her. I do not recommend taking her for online classes.
She's a kind instructor, and the lectures are good. Grading is just exams, and homework is extra credit for the final exam. Most of the class failed the first one, but there were 5 exams total, and the lowest one was dropped. For exams, you need to show your work in a similar way to how it was done in class.
