What Students Say
“I recommend not one soul to take her class”
MAC1114 - 1.0 rating“She is a hard professor and grades very fast I recommend not taking her if you are not as good in math The test are pretty difficult if you do not study or do the tips she has available I am failing this class and probably will fail the whole course because of how fast she teaches and even when she tries to explain more she is literally repeating”

I thought Mrs. Milnor was extremely effective in her teaching methods. She is fast but if you don't understand just ask. She's very helpful during her office hours.
She teaches extremely fast, and does not like to repeat things. Checks your hw everyday like you were in middle school. Prefers to teach older students. VERY LITTLE PATIENCE!
She is a very fast speaker and teacher (busy body). Very helpful if you go to her office: she slows down and feels less pressure. Study groups work very well in this setting. Our class met independantly on the weekends to study- we all did well.
Too fast, dosent explain alot
She Has a very effective teaching style. She outlines each section and gives you notes with examples at the beginning of each class. She is vey good at explaining complex information. Probably of the best math teachers ive had so far.
She really is an awesome teacher. She cares about whether or not you understand, totally laid back and is willing to help!
She's a very good teacher. She moves really fast is very high strung, but she gets the information out clearly
Concise, upbeat, positive energy, patient and kind. She is good at math instruction.
Loves teaching. Presents information in organized fashion. Excellent teacher - willing to help students with questions.

I was afraid of statistics when I started the class, but by the end of the term I felt like I had really learned a lot. This professor is great at explaining statistics.
she acts like your mother. she will not answer your questions unless they are in the home work. I think she thought I was trying to get her to mess up. All I wanted was for her to answer the problem.
i completely agree with the person that said she is too fast. if you struggle with math, kiss it good-bye. she skips steps and teaches very fast! i just took a "W". im gonna find someone who can slow it down a little.
Rough around the edges. But very available and willing. Not so patient, but if arn't intimidated by her, she's actually a very good professor. clear and concise.
I struggle in Math, but she was extremely helpful. She is a stickler for grades but you can learn so much if you take notes.
She a good teacher. Very nice and funny in a corny way. The first test wasn't that bad, but the material gets a lot harder throughout the semester. Doing the h/w really helps if you ask ?'s about what you don't understand in class.
Ms. Milnor is a very good teacher, and she also makes her class easy to understand. I am not a math person, but Ms. Milnor's way of teaching made me like and understand her class. She is a great teacher.
Ms. Milnor is a great teacher. She explains things until she is sure everyone understands. If you do the homework and ask questions in class you'll pass. She is very willing to help anyone that needs it and makes sure everyone is comfortable with the material.
KM beats the concepts in til you get it. She connects with students and knows when there is trouble in the material. She is creative and funny. Stats isn't so bad, when you take her class. Highly recommend her to anyone. Tip: do h/w.
Her examples approach all types of learning styles. She has an icredible intuition about the class and knows when to give other types of examples i.e. visual & verbal. She is very responsible and returns tests promptly which includes your current average. Hint: Do the homework.
Very detailed about her test answers and homework, etc. Uses real life examples and makes sure you understand the concepts. Just do ALL of the homework and labs she assigns. Not one of the easiest profs.
Very nice lady, but grades very hard. No exceptions and no late work! She should not be teaching math.
She was really hard. I ended up dropping and getting a 'W'. I didn't understand squat in her class. She sucks!
Not a good teacher. She is more concerned with how much she can pack into a semester than students learning. Extremely boring, and always seems annoyed when anyone disrupts the flow of the class with a question.
Deadlines are important. She is awesome, makes her own layouts of notes and gives them to you. She is off the wall hyper and goofy. Work hard and you will do well. She will help you. Takes points off of tests for little things, but it makes you work harder.
Very caring teacher. Explains very clearly and really cares if students understand material. If you do the homework and ask questions when needed, you will succeed. Be aware that test 2 material is much harder than test 1. Build average up early.
She's alright...not a standout. Her voice is grating, but her note packets are a huge help.
4 test, including the final. Not an easy class. A's are hard to come by. The second test avg is like a 70, not very high. No HW, but practice is needed. Milnor is a ok teacher, but likes challanging her students.
Overall good teacher. Talks fast and covers a lot. Not much time for questions. Use office hours and review day. If you do bad on 2nd test, you can still get an A. Does not give any bonus points. Very hard summer class so don't take anything else! Form study groups!
good teacher! Class is very hard! probably about as best of a stat class as your gonna get. Gives you notes! Gives points for Labs, checkups and test.
Very difficult class. Ms. Milnor covers a lot, but explains things clearly. Don't miss class, do the checkup, and attend review days for tests and you'll do great. Ms. Milnor is a great teacher.
Horrible experience! She doesnt explain the subject matter clearly and speaks way too fast. Do not take this teacher!!!
this teacher loves what she teaches WAY too much and believes that the world revolves around stats.ugh There is wayy to much material covered in this class it is ridiculous something like 25 chapters. Also her grading is completley impractical and too harsh. please dont take this woman, also she talks like speedy gonzalex
Hmmm.. Interesting lady. She does talk fast but she speaks clearly. She seems kinda moody and the course has too much material. She is not a bad teacher, but I would rather take someone with a better temperment. She does grade harshly. She grades with partial points but not in a good way. Not enough office hours either.
Really weird lady, but decent teacher! Talks fast, so if your not good at math maybe not good for u, but only 1 work sheet of homework every 2 weeks or so that has no more than 10 problems. Good review for test, but test have like 4 or 5 chapters on one. Overall, good teacher!
She bored me to tears, but she appeared to keep the attention of the people in class who enjoy math. No homework is collected, but you should still do it. She teaches from a study guide. Be interested in math or just grit your teeth and try to make it through, the class was very much a chore for me to attent.
Good Teacher I'd Recommend her just because of the Study guide she uses for each chapter. basically you fill in th blank its good. The Class is hard but you have Computer and Group Projects that are not really necessary, over all take her shes not bad but there are better professors for the subject, like Teague and Arnold.
One of the best professors I have had for math. She was really easy to follow and gave fill in the blank study guides for everything she covered in class. There are no tricks on her tests either. They're easy and she gives partial credit. I would definately recommend her.
She is a great teacher, if you just do the work you will pass. All of the problems on the test are very similar to questions that she has asked before.
Difficult class enviorment. She is REALLY TENSE and that makes class feel LOOOONG. But if you use the note outlines to study from you should be ok. Is willing to help students and is in the math lab at least once a week. Overall I would recomend her, with a grain of salt. Don't miss class though, the notes are neccessary to pass.
awesome teacher. just go to class. sit there. listen. do the handouts. take the tests. get an A
I would recommend taking her if you are not a math genius. Her chapter synopsis she uses are really helpful, and the checkups help you prepare for the tests. I could do without the group labs though, I had a lazy partner who got credit for the work that I did! She is pretty humorous at times, but knows the subject is hard and does her best to help.
She is a great teacher and really helpful. She tries to make it as simple as possible and explains things as many times as you want. She's funny and an overall really nice teacher.
Professor Milnor is AWESOME. Her notes and checkups mirror the tests. She explains everything very well and if you dont get it she'll keep going until you do. She gives notes packets that you fill in and they really help you understand stats better because it's not an easy class to begin with unless you understand it.
Great Lady! Most importantly, she is REALLY organized and explains things clearly and simply. Gives you a chapter outline for her lectures and you just fill in the blanks. This really helps bc then you don't have to be scribbling notes the whole time. Chapter checkups help you prepare for tests. Good energy and an endearing sense of dorky humor!
Very Organized teacher. This is my second time taking Stats and I got an A with her because of her helpfull chapter outlines and chapter check-ups that helped you review almost exactly what was is going to be on her tests. It is not a very hard class although you must review and study, especially for Test 2. She is very thorough. Reccommended!!
She is a very nice teacher and always their to help you all of your quizes are online so u can take them till u get a 100, her test are hard but your quizes make up for it . Ohh and she gives 10 points xtra credit on each test if you do 4 online practice test.So if u do it there is no way you can fail . TAKE HER! you will enjoy her class (for math)
WOW. this lady is EVERYWHERE. She is not a very organized teacher, makes alot of mistakes and yells are herself for them. Worst of all she babbles like there's no tomorrow, it is very easy to get lost in this class. Her tests aren't very hard but understanding her teaching is. Although, she does drop quite a few grades which helps out alot.
I think Milnor is a great teacher. She is extremely organized! very practical but will laugh at jokes if they're funny. I would advise not getting on her bad side, though. I detected a hint of a temper. She lays out the material in a very easy to understand format, which helps alot! just turn stuff in on time and try your best, she is reasonable.
Ms Milnor is a decent teacher. I withdrew from her class cuz i had other harder classes i needed to do. But shes ok, kinda boring, and she has a monotone voice. Shes a stickler for attendance, and her class is a little difficult if you get behind. overall, shes pretty good. If you show up and pay attention, you should be fine.
i took her first college algebra class and we were guinia pigs - could have something to do with her spaz-like persona? She does drop lowest quiz grade, but is unreasonable to missing/making up work. Her teaching is hard to follow, tests are OK if your good at math or study hard. I pulled a B and am a horrible math student. Dunno if I would retake.
all there is is 3 worksheets 2 labs and 3 tests, so if you bomb the tests u pretty much bomb the class. the tests are pretty hard you really have to understand the material to get a good grade. makes you stay till the last MINUTE!!
Most entertaining "math" class I've ever had. She is actually funny.
Don't listen to the bad remarks. Milnor is very good at teaching STAT2023; I got an A in the class (I didn't do any HW at all). The methods in solving STAT I problems are stupidly simple. PRO's: pre-made notesheets, predictable exam questions, partial credit, and easy calculator shortcuts. CON's: talks fast, taking points off for decimal places!
So.. She's ok. I feel like I learned a lot, but it was definitely a hard class. Tests are hard, but homework is easy so they even out.. I would take her again..
AMAZINGGGG. she knows her stats! has note outlines for every chapter, extremely helpful. study the check ups and chapter outlines and you'll be fine for her tests. takes off on minor mistakes but does give partial credit. show up for class too!
Her tests are really hard with vocab that you must know. Its a really hard class that requires a lot of your time to understand plus she doesnt believe in extra credit or "curving" grades when everyone is practically failing. Shes really nice but her class is way too hard.
Took her for a summer semester, and still got an A going faster pace. she posts point-by-point note outlines for every class, you just have to print them out. Attendance not required, but you might as well flunk yourself if you plan on not showing up to class for a stats course. extremely helpful if you need it, homework helps if you do it.
Seriously this woman is the worst math teacher I have ever encountered and I've had a lot of bad ones. She does all the work on the board with no student interaction so you don't learn anything. When your lost and ask for help, she gets irritated when you don't get it. Do not take her for stats, she is a nice woman but not meant to be a teacher.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! All she does is do problems on the board gets pissed when you don't understand; a total B. Her tests are ridiculously hard, her notes are okay she types them out for you but you dont learn anything while doing them. After taking this class i am debating dropping out.
fair teacher, very organized and the notes help a lot. got an A.
Run. Far far away. In the opposite direction. She is very fast paced, very confusing, and does NOT break things down to make it more clear. she is anything but understanding of situations that you have no control over and wont let you do your work aside from the exact time she says to do it. youre doomed for failure.
She did a great job teaching the class. She uses my math lab. The book is only used to practice problems out of. I barely opened mine. She offers extra credit and attendance is mandatory. She also figures in class days to review for tests and will take her time to explain! Overall, a great teach. I plan on taking her for STA2023 in the fall.
I had her for a first semester course...Intermediate Algebra, because I missed the test out date. And she was a phenomenal professor. Really, if you do your homework and ask questions, there is no reason for you to fail this course. Anyone should get an A. I'm taking one of her different classes again!
The same semester I took this class I was also taking Calc III and made a B, I've always been really good at math, it's that Ms. Milnor doesn't grade on math, most of the points that I lost in the class had nothing to do with the subject or math at all, like hand writing. She also makes people feel stupid for asking questions.
Good teacher. Not really an easy class. I would recommend attending every class if your not ever good at math (like me). She is a good teacher and explains things well. She gives a lot of notes and review to help you. I would def. take her if you need Stats.
A pretty fun class, not the most easy but not too hard. Miss Milnor is helpful if you have questions. A lot of studying because most of the material is different from any other math course. Her labs help you understand the material better. I wouldn't take it as a second math class if I didn't have to because of how much time it takes.
She is so kind. Very thoughtful and concerned about the student. Math needs a TON of practice and in my opinion whatever teacher you have it is up to the student to do exactly that. I would absolutely suggest her as a teacher!
Great statistics professor in my opinion. Don't pay any mind to the negative reviews, they are most likely just lazy and non-determined people. Ms Milnor was very organized, professional, and entertaining. She gives you all the notes online to print, and the tests are based on the questions you practice frequently. For sta2023 Milnor is the best!
First, read the chapter she is about to teach before coming to class. Try to understand it as best as u can. 2nd,Attend ALL her lectures!this is so IMPT! 3rd,if u still struggle, go to her office hours with a list of questions or help on problems. if she is not available go to math lab and talk to the guy who is known to play guitar, best stat tutor
Dont buy the book.I hate her lectures she talks so fast and goes through the material very quickly. if you like to study half of your life away you'll enjoy this class.
It?s not all her fault she has to teach us so much in so little time. This class is very hard so first of all only take it if you have to and make sure that you got three easy classes at the same time.
This class was not bad! Milnor provides printable outlines and handouts via angel. She gives you everything you need to do well. YOU have to do the work to get a good grade! HW is not turned in but do it so you have practice with the problems! Has reviews before tests and provides review worksheets. No excuse not to do well in the class if you try!
Her class is easy if you just keep up with all the work. However, she is not very nice and most of the time very sarcastic and immature. If you can handle that, take her class.
She's not mean but not too helpful. Outlines provided via angel, but she doesn't like to spend time explaining things you don't understand. I went to her office hours and her response was I taught this in class, where were you? Her tests are hard in the sense it covers a lot of material at one time. She only gives 3 tests and a final. Good luck!
Prof Milnor is the most caring professor ive ever had! If you care about learning she will be a great guide. Most people that i see that have a problem with her dont do the work and then get mad when they dont do well. She is a little quirky, but it makes the class fun. She is very passionate about teaching and it shows. She cares about the student
She is very clear when teaching. She provides easy-to-understand outlines to use during lectures. The book used what not at all helpful and her worksheets were a better way to understand the material. She did not provide in-class help about any homework, quiz, or tests problems. She wants VERY specific answers when it comes to writing free response
Nice woman and who is willing to work with you. But not the greatest professor. take someone else if you want better than a C in math.
She really tries to help you, she's just not very good at it. She can be very sarcastic and says a lot of weird things.
Very unhelpful To understand her you have to actually think like her. She questions herself in the middle of doing a problem which can be very confusing
She makes off the wall comments the whole class and talks to herself.she teaches really fast because she is more worried about running out of time then if you understand it and now that the class is half computer lab there is tons of busy work 2 homework assignments with 30+ problems and 2 quizzes with around 15 problems s piece each week plus the class handouts and notebooks due on test day
Single women lives alone with cats. She is very opinionated with her religious remarks, just don't get on her bad side. She talks so fast it is difficult to comprehend making math almost a foreign language.
Taking statistics with Ms Milnor. She is extremely opinionated and talks to herself a lot. Does not accept others' comments well nor does she answer questions well. She is very good at statistics but should consider not working with other people. Extremely fast talker, unclear... if you want to learn and/or make a decent grade DO NOT take her class
She is an EXTREMELY good teacher, very easy to pass her class, if you have questions she works with you and she is very easy to understand. If you don't pass it is because you weren't paying attention. However she is a stickler for attendance so it is best to be there. But overall very good teacher.
just choose her, best teacher i've ever had, fun and caring.
Very good math teacher, a lil crazy but she cool. she wants to see her students pass and she will help you if you need it, sometimes she goes fast when explaining things but you will eventually get it. key to passing her class is to show up!
I went into this class knowing nothing about statistics. She is very helpful and very clear. She has note outlines and follows them to the t so make sure you print them out before class. Tests are easier than you expect them to be but still know the material. The first test was the easiest by far. Over all she is a really good teacher. recommend!!
Karen Milnor is a great Trigonometry Professor, in my opinion! I recommend her to all my friends. One drawback is that you'll have to cough up some money($60+) for an (useless* IMO) online math lab, but still she's great. She doesn't collect tangible hw, but you'll have to your online assignments with lenient due dates :)
I have to say being flooded on my personal e-mail address from her is rather annoying. I cannot stand this lady, her manorisms, or her utter monotoned man voice. Besides her boring nature she can be rather unhelpful when it comes to getting her to see her outside of her office hours. Never taking a class with her again!
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN. LABS ARE RIDICULOUSLY LONG AND YOU HAV TO DO THEM WITH A PARTNER.THERE ARE ONLY THREE TESTS.SHE DOES GIVE YOU THE FORMULAS. SHE TAKES OFF FOR EVERY LITTLE MISTAKE.PLEASE AVOID THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She was great at explaining the content and using MML was an incredible learning every aspect of what was reviewed for the day. Her tests were tough but her grading loopholes make up for it. Highly recommend her for trig.
I've had to take this class mutiple times at CFCC in Ocala & I had Carmichael but none were able to teach like her. She was a great techer, very helpful, Emails you emails you EVERYTHING (reminders that hw/quizzes are due, how many mins you are short in lab, just anything) to keep you posted. I passed with a B in this class.TAKE HER you will pass!
Milnor is a very nice teacher who is a very tough grader. Every little mistake she will mark off although you get the answer right. Daily Checkups and 3 tests. Overall tough class but there are a lot worse professors you can take than Milnor.
honestly wasn't that bad. I did have some stat background though. Very picky so make sure you check over everything. Math lab is a good way to pick up more points and check ups too. Don't make stupid mistakes- every point matters. The final was like the tests so study from them and you'll be fine. She's pretty straight forward overall.
She is nice but doesn't example problems very well
One of the most organized, caring prof's I've ever had. She creates outlines for us to fill in as she teaches, allowing us to learn the material & not focus on jotting down notes as fast as possible. She is VERY fair in her grading despite it being "picky." The students who dislike her are ones who aren't willing to work hard& get penalized for it.
This teacher at first was rude and very scattered.Later on during the semester loosened up a little. She knows her stuff, i took her for a hybrid class. The course itself can be very difficult but her notes really break it down for you and make it easier.
Great Stats teacher in my opinion. Why? She gives step by step progressive examples during lectures. Provides note outlines for class. Very willing to see you during office hours to provide any extra help. She understands Stats very well but can teach it equally well. Not an easy A class but her class helps those who are willing to help themselves.
She makes off the wall comments the whole class and talks to herself.she teaches really fast because she is more worried about running out of time then if you understand it. She is unhelpul and rude, she speaks to her students as if we were "mentally challenged" instead of a learning student within her class. i wouldnt recommend this instructor.
STA2023 was very difficult. She grades very harshly and would rather rush through notes then to make sure her students understand the concept. Labs are extremely difficult. She makes rude comments and treats students like she is better then them. But, she does make note outlines which may or may not be helpful. I WOULDN'T take her again. Good luck
Milnor is a bit quirky and can at times be condescending when you ask for help, but the class was easy. You spend half your time in the lab which is where I really learned all the material.
As long as you show up and pay attention you will understand the work. You go to the lab where she and many tutors are available to help you further understand the material. I started skipping class so I bombed the second half of the class, which is why I got a C. I had an A until I completely failed the last test. The class just requires effort.
She's allergic to EVERYTHING so don't wear perfume or antibacterial gel, she will also tell you about her personal life and talk about random things that have nothing to do with class. BUT, she explains everything very well step by step, and she gives handouts so that you keep the information. DO HOMEWORK ON MYMATHLAB CONSTATLY or you will fail.
If you are a good student you will do well in this class. Most people who do not like this teacher never took the time to do homework and practice the problems. She gives extra credit opportunities and an option at the end of the course to replace your lowest test grade with the final exam grade. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!
She made note outlines for every section and went into great detail with the problems. She gave a lot of opportunity for extra credit and was very approachable when you had issues with a particular problem. Would definitely recommend her if math isn't your strongest area.
Better then Younts. Difficult class but stats is difficult no matter what. Do the hw and don't wait till the last minute for everything and you will pass. Maybe not a great grade but you'll pass. Not impossible to get an A or B. Not a class for the lazy. Plus she is a really nice person, just doesn't take any crap.
she makes detailed notes for you to print out then fill in the blanks during class as she speeds through reading them herself off from her tablet. that is great and all, but when students ask a question, she chuckles... or says you don't do it like that because that's stupid. we are students, not experts... we will have questions... don't be rude.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Worst teacher I have ever had at Santa Fe. Seats were completely full beginning of semester then half the class dropped (including me) by the end of the semester. Talks a mile a minute, and gets angry when you have a question about something. Only helpful part of this class was the note outlines she covered in class. Don't take her
Very scattered and would usually have a rough start to class in the morning but once she got going it was fine. She had note outlines so all you had to do was print them and copy her notes. She made class easy but was a little different but also nice.
. She told me one time, to drop the class; even through I went to her office hours and was the one trying to pass. I was studying every night after work. She made me feel stupid and inferior. If you don't follow her way, she will not let you pass. But I would like to say: I was working 30+ hours weeks. I also took this class for six weeks.
She is one of the best math teachers that i have ever had. She knows her stuff. if you asks questions after class, she will be there to help you out. she is definitely an interesting character. I am taking her for MAC 1105. Just know you take this class and stay on top of your work you will pass with an A.
This teacher made me like statistics. I was so afraid to take this class, but Ms. Milnor is a teacher that will help you understand it. She does go fast through her lessons but I she has to, to ensure all material is covered. Class before a test she does a review day. I really enjoyed her class, and plan to take her next semester!
Professor Milnor is an AWESOME STATS professor! I am not good at math at all and I got a B in her class! She gives extra credit which can raise you a full letter grade at the end! Her lectures are fast paced but she covers everything that will be on the exams. Homework is not required. GREAT professor! I'd recommend her to anyone who needs STATS!
GREAT PROFESSOR! I stink at math and got a B in this class! She is very thorough and provides the class notes. DO the homework even though it is not required. Her handouts are key because you get an idea of the way she presents her exam questions. Her lectures are fast but she covers all the material she puts on her exams. I highly recommend her!
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU AREN'T QUICK WITH MATH. She explains concepts in a confusing way and her questions are difficult to interpret. I felt like I was drowning all semester (and I'm great at math!) It's nice that she gives handouts, but take LOTS of extra notes. She also belittles students if you ask questions in class. Would NOT take again.
Extremely good math Professor, and although she explains in a rather fast manner her explanations are clear. She also gives a lot of homework and handouts for you to practice, values punctuality and is strict when grading them. When it comes to tests, she is also strict but willing to recognize when the software (MyMathLab) gets an answer wrong.
She is a hard professor and grades very fast I recommend not taking her if you are not as good in math The test are pretty difficult if you do not study or do the tips she has available I am failing this class and probably will fail the whole course because of how fast she teaches and even when she tries to explain more she is literally repeating
If you're pretty decent with math, she's a good teacher to have. She talks a little fast but will help you and answer any and all questions. You go to the math lab every day and has 2 home works due on Sundays and quizzes on Mondays. Not difficult to do but i don't regret getting up in the morning to go to class.
Great teacher.
She came off as very disrespectful at times. She taught her lectures in a manner where she expected you understand, but many found it difficult. She expects the students to understand the lesson at her level, but she failed to understand that everyone learns at different capacity. She flies through the lessons at an insane pace.
She is a great teacher. I was actually able to understand math and what we were talking about the entire class. I don't regret taking her class.
One of the best teachers I've had at Santa Fe. She tells you what she expects from you since day 1, and if you listen you'll get an A. She provides formula sheets for every test. Stats is a hard class but she takes the time to help you in and out of class. I'm so sad I wont be able to take her again. But if you get the chance to, take her!
I think she has good intentions but she's a little off the radar. I took this class in the summer so it went really fast (which isn't her fault) so it was hard to keep up. She really did want the class to succeed but it seemed like she expected everyone to be as good at math as her.
Do not take this teacher. She knows what she's talking about but she is veryyy picky on what needs to be on tests and labs. She goes at a very fast pace as well which is kind of expected. Also Even when I went to tutoring for my lab she still gave me a C. She is not the type to make anyyyy exceptions. So if you take her good luck.
I recommend not one soul to take her class! Although, she has good intentions for her students. She teaches at a very fast pace and expects you to know the material in a day, so if math isn't your strong suit don't take her class. If she is the last option, wait until next semester or you'll regret it. PS- Take advantage of tutoring.
Prof. Milnor is a decent lady. However, she hasn't taught trig in years!! So she was basically reteaching herself while trying to teach us. It was very hard to learn from her, especially since I struggle in math in general. She's mono toned and hard to follow. I would definitely take someone else.
She's a little fast at explaining things so if you don't do the suggested problems before the next class, you will be lost. She gives 2 big extra credit chances and gives extra credit on the final exam. She tells you what she wants and expects just that so if you don't like that type of teacher, don't take her. Overall I enjoyed the class.
I've taken this course twice, and Ms. Milnor helped me understand the subject a lot better. However, she shows no mercy when it comes to attendance. I got into a car accident on the way to class and she still refused to give me focus group points. Overall, she isn't a bad teacher, plus she has a weird personality that keeps you entertained
Don't skip class. Things moves very quickly when she is teaching; she does provide note outlines that make keeping up with the pace much easier. If you're good at math you should be fine here. I've found that too many people take this course lightly and that's where they tend to fall down. Do your check ups and study for your tests and you'll be ok
Really explains the material being covered. Always ready to help. I definitely recommend taking her class
She definitely goes at a faster pace than other profs but taking her class is worth it, she will explain things to you until you understand the material and she's extremely knowledgable in mathematics so you know you're getting the right info when she teaches it. Just pay attention and show up to focus group to get the notes and you'll be fine.
Professor Milnor classes are difficult but passable if you are willing to put in the effort both in class and on your own. She is willing to help, and does care about her students succeeding. She teaches in a way that helps the material stay with you for longer than just a semester.
Professor Milnor was a good professor. You have to come to class and actually study! Make sure to go to class on project and group activity days it is worth a percentage of your grade. And keep up on your online assignments they slowly will help your grade. She also replaces your lowest test score with your final exam score. The final exam is easy
Ms. Milnor is really good at explaining concepts and giving plenty of examples. The pace of MGF1106 is such that if you miss class, it's a little hard to catch up, but she answers questions before tests if you bring them to her. Her personality is a little harsh, but she's mainly funny and understanding. I would take her class again.
Milnor is the only math instructor I've ever had that's genuinely believed in me. She is a great teacher and was very good about making sure everyone was engaged and understanding the material. Milnor really cares about her students and it shows. You will not regret taking this professor.
Best professor ever! She has a great personality and makes the funniest jokes. She has the best way of teaching. I love her outlines! You have to put in work for this class because it is Stats, but she puts in the work back. Does not give a lot of homework (they are optional for your benefIt: AMAZING) I would DEFINITELY take her again! Thank u Ms!
She has a very fast-paced lecture style, and nearly every student had difficulty understanding even the most basic mathematical concepts. She goes so fast that she messes up her own problems and instructs students incorrectly. I rarely attended class and I had the highest class average, all self taught. You might be better without her "help."
Precalc. Never had so much trouble in a math class ever! Horrible at explaining concepts, her class lecture style is not easy to follow, tells you you don't need book, but regularly teaches out of it in lecture. Includes material on tests that she doesn't even lecture on, tests are not straight forward. Do not take her. Not a good teacher, period.
Took her for precalc & dropped. Would STUDY for tests yet still fail. Her lectures are a hot mess, shes a spaz.
Professor Milnor was the best Statistics teacher I could ask for. She thoroughly went through the material never made you do homework but advised you to practice with some textbook problems. There's 4 labs with a partner which you should take advantage, 3 tests & a cumulative final. If you don't study & get familiar with the material that's on you.
She has attitude. She is rude most of the time and makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. Exams are way hard. Her doors are close for you it is even not possible to get communicate with her. She is cold like an ice!! DO NOT TAKE HER!
Difficult, but really prepares you for calc well. Lecture are full of examples, office hours are helpful. Tests are hard, but she doesnt try to trick you and tries to make them easy as possible for you. Overall pretty good
She's tough and won't take any discrepancies with written work and your answer on the test. Lecture was tough for me because she would explain the concept once, and follow with hundreds of examples. I didn't even know why I would be solving a problem!
She barely gives out any partial credit. Makes students feel uncomfortable. Tests are so hard. Do really well on Test 1 or else you may fail the rest of them (seriously!). She claims theres no homework, but there is. Study every single day and MAYBE you'll pass. Would not recommend to anyone.
Professor Milnor was not the best overall math teacher I've had. She makes you sound stupid if u don't know a certain material, and doesn't teach very good, she expects you to know already with her. would not recommend her if you aren't a math person.
Prof. Milnor is a very straight forward prof. If she tells you to do something, just do exactly as she tells you and you should be fine. The time that I struggled in her class was when I didn't do all the HW that she assigned in the time frame that she told me to do it in. She is very easy to access and will most def help you! GO TO OFFICE HRS!!
To begin, this is a course with a high difficulty level. This professor is kind at heart but tends to rush through the material during class time. She skips the important explanation of certain steps in problems. She seems to call you out for things making you feel bad sometimes when asking for help. I would not recommend if you struggle with math.
DO NOT take this class. Even tutors and hours and hours of studying couldn't help me pass because of the way she grades.
She understands and relates to the students. She stays casual around the students, letting them feel comfortable asking questions. Great teacher!
Professor Milnor is the best math instructor that I've ever had. I truly benefited from the immense care and attention that she gives all her students. This is the first time that I've ever felt confident in a math course. Milnor made me feel truly prepared for college algebra.
The class can move fast with the outlines and labs, but as long as you do the homework outside of class you will do fine in the class. I also really enjoy professor Milnor with her corny jokes and her real life situations she talks about in class.
The course is challenging, but fair in the way it is presented. It gets difficult if you don't do the homework, but it is fair that if you don't do the work, you won't do good! I thought the teaching style suited me better than previous classes and I would recommend it and the instructor to other students.
She keeps regular contact, reminding us of assignments through CANVAS and replies to emails rapidly. I appreciated this a lot. I also very much appreciated that she took time to post videos of examples we talked about in lecture and gave us problems to practice with. If not for those I would not understand the concepts.
This instructor was very welcoming and encouraging to all the students. She is always willing to assist beyond class time when needed. She suggests many ways to succeed.
I attempted stats on 3 separate occasions at UF and couldn't get pass exam 1 without dropping the course. This summer I took this class with Chem online and it was extremely doable. As long as you put the work in you'll get the results. My greatest advice is do the hw within 24hours of learning material. She is a POWERHOUSE with so much to give!
In my opinion, the only way to dislike her class or find her material impossible is if you are a lazy student. She is fair and expects you to earn your grade. She is more than available, the MML, her videos on canvas, and perfect attendance is a recipe for success. She's great at what she does. This is coming from someone who hates math.
Seeing that her rating isn't higher proves to me that this website isn't as accurate as I thought. She does her part as a professor. This is not an easy A if you're not great in math, however whether you're great in math or not, if you do everything she recommends the A comes easily. Yes, its a lot of hw, but its truly for your benefit. I thank her
Absolutely awful. Can't even take the time to write her own assignments or study guides and provides nothing but sarcastic remarks in return to any and all questions asked in class. Half the class had to withdraw after our second exam. Exams are poorly written and are unclear on what she is asking for causing much confusion. I wanted to die haha
Attendance is not mandatory but I SERIOUSLY suggest that you attend her lectures because she does a whole chapter per class, you will be lost if you aren't present. All of the homework is online through MyMathLab with some scattered "labs" that she lets you do with a partner. I suck at math but she's made it bearable for me, I highly recommend.
If you're not good at math, this class is hard. However, the professor truly cares about you and your grades. She seems genuinely happy to see her students succeed. The tests are pretty hard but you can do it if you try. Truthfully I was failing the entire time and she helped me bang out a C.
Taken Prof Milnor for MAC1033 and MAC1105. Very helpful and will go over concepts again in class if you don't understand. Very accessible outside of class. Homework, quizzes, project, and activities make up a large part of your grade. She makes her tests hard but it makes the final exam so easy. Try hard in this class and it will pay off.
Not just only goes super fast during her lectures but also gets confusing when explaining. Sometimes there are way better and easy methods to do an exercise but are not the ones that she chooses. She doesn't give good feedback or well explanations, normally just explain by her way and keeps going. With all my respect I wouldn't choose her again
worst teacher i have ever had. not only is the work load overly excessive doing about 120 problems a week between worksheets and online questions. she moves super fast and is terrible at explaining concepts. there is no guidance in her course and i ended up having to teach myself everything using YouTube. biggest waist of a semester!
Professor Milnor is good as long as you show her that you are hard working. She can get emotional sometimes and has small antics. Her lectures can be repetitive but the class is well structured and clear.
Professor Milnor is a great professor. I was taking her during Covid crisis where everything went online. She handled everything amazingly. Having posted video lessons, responded to my emails right away. If you don't go to the lessons and thoroughly do the Homeworks then don't expect to get a good grade, you have to put in work on your end.
Phenomenal teacher. She was able to adapt during COVID-19 and provide me with the skills necessary to pass even though I was frightened of the thought of online learning with math due to not taking it for some time. She's patient, accessible outside of class, and willing to help if you take the class seriously. Highly recommend this teacher :)
AMAZING Professor, very genuine woman and given the 2020 circumstances (Coronavirus) she did all she could to help. Even when I was slacking she would go out of her way to remind me of work. Best Professor i've had by far. Very structured and teaches all you need to know in class.
She gives out overwhelming amounts of homework she teachers absolutely nothing no lectures just copy notes and turn them in so basically have to teach yourself everything. She doesnt care for any personal crisis to make you miss an assignment she will give an F. Hard grader and forget asking questions she wont give you the time
this was online because of COVID but she was a great teacher. She reached out to me on many occasions to make sure I was doing alright. One of the best professors I've had! There were 3 tests and 1 final. Her notes matched the tests. She used the book for examples built mainly went on her own agenda. Highly recommend for stats!
I loved professor Milnor, As long as you dedicate your time to doing what she tells you youll be sure to pass and she does everything to help you thats why its very hard not to pass because she does everything in favor of her students!
She has been one of the rudest and most disrespectful professors I have ever had. She assigns a lot of work and quizzes just for one week. She has not tried to reach out or help me. When she emails me she is really rude and backhanded with everything. If youre expecting an easy A or understandable work for class, you got the wrong professor.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! She is the rudest professor I've ever had. I email her asking for help and she responded with snippy comments... Like I'm sorry math is not my strong suit. Any other prof is better than her.
She is definitely a tough grader and she a bit confusing on some topics.
Milnor won't baby you. She WILL help you. she WON'T hold your hand. She is very clear about everything&even drops some low grades for things bcuz life gets crazy. If you email asking something she has already told you, she'll be annoyed. As she should, because she is very specific and forthright about everything. If you put in effort, u pass.
Can be tough, won't reopen assignments for u if u have something crazy happen and miss. but that is because she already builds in a few drops/replacements for low grades, so that everyone has an equal chance. As long as u read EVERYTHING she gives u, you'll never be lost. She is very clear and concise! easy B or even A if u put in moderate effort.
Professor Milnor is not only uncaring towards students even if they show that they want to do well, but she is also flat-out rude a lot of the time. She assigns a lot of homework and puts emphasis on working ahead. If you struggle with due dates (because of a busy schedule in my case), she will not help you. The most difficult math class I've taken
Worst teacher ever. She does NOT care about her students, professors should not be talking down on their students and causing them to be ANXIOUS about even asking a simple question! She also knit picks everything and just wants to say slick comments over nothing. Makes it hard to pass if youre bad at math. Belittles you a lot!
She'll be tough and nonsympathetic if you make any mistakes (as I learned early in the semester) but overall she was great at responding and always had time to meet privately with me when I requested. She was great at answering questions too. She replaced my lowest exam (out of 3) with the grade of the final, which raised my grade from a D to a C+.
belittled students and made you feel "challenged" for not understanding the material.
Professor Milnor isn't everyones cup of tea, but I loved her! I found her class engaging and the outlines you do in class are clear in explaining the material. She also gives multiple opportunities to boost your grade. Participating in class helps loads, so don't be afraid to answer questions, it'll help your grade and Milnor will like you more.
Karen Milnor is a difficult teacher. She perfectly orchestrates her classes so it goes to plan and moves fairly quickly. However, she is a great teacher. If you listen in class, do all homeworks, and fill in her note outlines that she tells you to print out, you will pass. Ask for help when you need it. DO NOT MISS CLASS!
Challenging, but perfectly doable if you put the time to understand the material, she is great at explaining, and will answer your questions via email, seems to be mean at first but she is a really good teacher and will give you feedback if you are really trying.
Probably one of the worst math teachers I've ever had. She takes concepts that aren't that difficult to understand and makes them confusing, doesn't teach half of the material for the last test, and her grading on tests is ridiculous. She has to turn off the averages on the tests on canvas because everyone's grades are so low.
By far the worst teacher ever! she doesn't even teach she just writes down examples and expects you to follow along. She teaches as if you should already know the material. Her tests are never problems you actually do in class they are 10 times harder. Also, you only get 10 points for doing 40-60 questions on homework, feels pointless to do them.
Tests are so hard and you have to teach yourself everything. She teaches everything in the most confusing way possible. Homework is way too much work. One of the test averages was a 50 and after we let her know she freaked out that we could see it and said she has to contact canvas so we can't see that anymore. rather have taken an online class.
such a hard professor, she teaches way to fast and doesnt care about if you are failing.
Professor Milnor is one of the first professors Ive met that really cares about the success of her students. She is great at explaining things. Make sure you come to class, because if you do not you will miss more than you know. Also make sure to use her office hours to your advantage.
Will not allow students to see lecture notes from missed days, even if they were out for valuable reason. Grades tests/written assignments extremely subjectively and takes off points any and everywhere. No extra credit, no retakes, no late work. Generally, if you are not present ever single day and make a good impression, you will fail her class.
Professor Milnor is a nice professor, she cares about students and their success. However, her teaching style is not very good. For the most part, you'll go through practice problems the entire class without any actual explanation of the concept. Homework's are extremely long. Tests do not replicate the practice you do.
Not only is she overly reliant on time consuming examples from a textbook that it appears as though she has never read herself, but she is very rude and passive aggressive. You could genuinely have a question and she will act as though it is a chore to answer your question and that you are stupid for asking such a question to begin with. Don't take
Professor Milnor is actually an amazing teacher. She does a good job explaining material and making sure her class is all on the same page with assignments. If you are wanting to take statistics in the future I say do it. She is easy to reach outside of class in office hours or canvas as well.
Her lectures are all examples of the work not really the concepts. The class averages suck and after my first two test being below a B I was worried I would fail the class. I pulled out with an A mostly because the last two test covered material I had learned previously. Also I did all the extra credit available and worked my butt off. Hard class.
Dont listen to these comments from 2021, most of them were in her online classes. I take her hybrid precalc class and her online lectures are very helpful especially when you fill out the outline textbook as you go. Despite having only one class a week with her she manages to help us work through challenging parts of each section.
Shes very straightforward and goes through the material very quickly. Shes great at answering questions and making sure you understand before she moves forward. She offers very little extra credit but its 100% worth it. She uses the textbook for example problems, so its good to have. Her class made me feel like I actually understood math again!
Professor Milnor sets you up for success and gives you everything you will need to achieve it. If you do not use her outlines or skip the work she assigns you will be at fault for your grade. Professor Milnor is personable, funny, and genuinely cares about her students far beyond what you can achieve with other professors.
Class is basically a video quiz on video of her doing problems and saying what she writes, then a mini lecture of her going through a couple problems in class and then she turns the room upside down for group work which there's almost never actually time for. And the way she grades will give you a nosebleed and make you wonder who hurt her.
Professor Milnor is extremely passive aggressive and rude. Each week lectures show her completing questions with no explanation. Tons of homework and never provides study guides/resources. Her grading is extremely harsh and will only give you half points. No matter how much you struggle and ask for help she will do all she can to avoid helping you.
this is probably the easiest math class I've ever taken and she knows her stuff, but her personality made me dread coming to class. the online work isn't difficult, just takes a long time. if I could go back and take this class with another teacher I think it would've saved me a lot of stress.
very rude
RUDE AND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. Will ask you on the first day to raise your hand and tell her what detergent you use and technically she "cannot tell you to change it" but wants you to anyway. She wants you to do things exactly how she wants on the exams and if you miss out on one word she will mark it wrong or give you half points. Will call u out !!
Professor Milnor's class is challenging, but her genuine care for student success makes it worthwhile. Supplement lectures with Unstuck ai and the textbook - that combo really helped me grasp the concepts.
Over half of the class had already dropped her class by the time I did, and the semester wasn't even half over. She is so uneccesarily particular and she can't give good reasons why other than "because". I enjoy the topic, but she just makes all her homework and lessons so unbearable.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! save yourself while you can. If she is your only option save the course for later with a different professor. This is the worst class I have ever taken in college. Doesn't lecture and expects you to teach yourself heavy math concepts. Gives no grace at all.
don't wear perfume, deoderant and might as well skip your shower. She WILL call you out and be so so rude about it. She is by far the worst professor I have ever encountered in college. She gets mad when you don't understand a topic and she doesn't even teach expects you to learn it yourself
Don't take her unless its your last possible option. Her voice is insufferable. She teaches, but she really lives up to her name as she is the textbook definition of a karen. She is extremeeeeeeeeely rude and will scream at you if something is not OBVIOUS to you. Please if you can take someone else. I ignored these reviews and regretted it.
She is the most passive aggressive and rudest person I've ever met. She doesn't explain anything she teaches and talks AT you instead of actually teach anything. Don't take her unless you're okay with teaching yourself the material.
Professor Milnor provides thorough resources, including a course pack and pre-recorded lectures, to help you go at your own pace. Preparation is key, as unpreparedness may frustrate her due to limited class time. Hard work pays off, making the course very rewarding. Respect her allergies by avoiding fragrances. Thank you, Professor Milnor you rock!
She made my first semester in college a living nightmare. I have had my fair share of great and horrible professors but Karen by far is the worst one yet. Are you sick and not feeling well? I had a doctor's note excusing me from Tuesday-Thursday of all classes and when I asked if I could make up a lab she was completely unhelpful and refused.
HATED HERR!!! All of the comments are true. Save yourself she is unbearable.
She is soooooo condescending and has the most annoying voice also she grades so harshly taking points off for the littlist things
One of the worst professors ive had while attending this school. She made a class that can be taught pretty easily super confusing and complicated. I would avoid her at all costs. Easily worst professor of all time.
Positives: drops lowest grades, final easier than tests. Negatives: always in a bad mood, annoyed by questions, a lot of homework, lectures do not prepare you for tests, does not teach at all but rather spends time in class doing quizzes, labs & group work. If you are okay teaching yourself, this is the perfect class. If not, DO NOT TAKE IT.
Not the nicest personality and gets irritated by the littlest of things. The material itself is okay but you need to teach yourself everything. Her in-person class is just a quiz, labs, group work & a 20min mini-lecture of what she thinks are the hardest questions. The only good thing is the drops of the lowest grades. Spare yourself from her.
Avoid if you can. Unclear learning objectives, inconsistent grading, condescending to students, annoyed by clarifying questions, and many more things. I'm limited to 350 words so providing examples is difficult. I had a B average when I withdrew, I simply didn't want to continue working with such a difficult person whose role is to teach math.
Ms. Milnor is very difficult to communicate with and is very snappy back in her emails. Will not work with you and has an excessive amounts of homework and lecture videos. These lecture videos make an easy topic very difficult to interpret and understand. Please take anybody else for this class, she is truly unhelpful and condescending
Boring lecture videos, made harder than the topic really is. Bad to communicate and will be condescending and rude if you email her about an issue.
Very hard grader and will not work with you on anything. Has confusing questions on an exam and will not take any advice claiming her questions are flawless. Avoid at all costs.
Avoid at all cost. Does not help, makes you feel stupid if asking questions. Hard to understand what she is teaching. Tons of assignments. Every other week you have a lab due with a group. Plus side is final exam is easier then the other exams. Take another professor if you want to succeed. I regret this course.
I took her hybrid STA 2023 class, and it was pretty straightforward. She communicates about deadlines and expectations. All of the lectures are videos with notes that you have to buy from the bookstore, printed out. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to show up to classes to understand the material fully and get a good grade in the class.
Despite other ratings, I did not seem to have an issue with Professor Milnor. I felt the organization of the course schedule was very straightforward, and the material was not too difficult. The professor is very straightforward and respects those who try to find answers prior to asking questions.
Horrible person hates her students and needs to retire
Professor Milnor was difficult to approach during class, and often responded with frustration when students asked for clarification on course material. I found it challenging to engage or seek help, which made the learning environment uncomfortable. Would not recommend if you value supportive instruction
Honestly not a great experience. She gets annoyed when you ask simple questions, which makes it hard to learn or feel comfortable in class. If you're looking for a supportive or approachable professor, I'd look elsewhere
Unfortunately, my experience with Professor Milnor was not positive. She often responded with frustration when students asked questions, even when they were basic clarifications. This created a discouraging learning environment and made it difficult to seek help or engage with the material.
she enforces a strict no-fragrance policy, which, while understandable for health reasons, was not clearly communicated in advance and added to the discomfort of the classroom experience.
Her “lectures” move way too fast because she is too worried about giving a quiz at every meeting, plus group work at the end which you'll have to rush to finish because it's due at the end of class and there's almost never time to group up and actually figure out the problems together. She's very condescending if you don't understand something.
Her lectures tend to move too quickly, likely due to the focus on giving a quiz at every class session, followed by group work that's often rushed because it's due by the end of class. There's rarely enough time tocollaborateeffectively on theproblems.Additionally, she can come across as condescending when students struggle to understand the material
She is very passive aggressive, no mistakes can be made, and since it was hybrid attendance was absolutely mandatory. She would post 5-6 20 min videos every week to teach yourself the material, then when you came to class, there would be a quiz on that material and they weighed a lot, there was so many assignments due every week. Very overwhelming.
Her lectures are a blur because she's too focused on cramming in a quiz every single class. On top of that, she dumps group work on you with barely any time to actually collaborate before it's due. And don't expect help—she talks down to you if you don't immediately understand something.
This professor rushes through her lectures just to squeeze in a quiz every time. Then she throws group assignments at the end with zero time to work through them. Worst of all, she's rude and condescending when students ask questions or need clarification.
Not sure why she has so many bad reviews. I'm currently in her class, and it's actually very easy. She's extremely helpful and genuinely cares about her students. She's always available if you need extra support or have questions. Highly recommend!
AWFUL! If I could give her a zero I would. She is passive aggressive, nit-picky with grading (will take points off for the dumbest things ever), and isn't willing to work with you if you make a mistake. Her lectures online are long, boring videos that you find yourself skipping around so you don't actually learn. 0/10 class, learned nothing.
Professor Milnor was my favorite professor this semester. She is super forgiving for grading and has so many opportunities for extra credit. She also responds pretty quickly outside of class, and then for group work, not only does she help when needed, but it's also a great chance to learn a bit more from others. Highly recommend her.
NEVER EVER take this class with her. I have never had a teacher go out of their way to what felt like finding ways to fail me in my life (she takes points off for the most incredibly outrageous things you can possibly think of). Save yourself find a different professor for the course!
