Extremely hard class; the teacher doesn't do much to make sure the class is getting the material
karen is a teacher who likes to teach. love the way she gives her lectures. could be better on lab time. Can be frustrating. Hard tests but she does her job and that is to have us remember the material. Grin and bear it she is preparing us for our career

I FEEL THAT SHE DOES A VERY GOOD JOB WITH THE COURSE SHE IS TEACHING.
Anatomy will always be a hard class, but she is a great teacher. She is really fun too. I enjoyed having her as a teacher, just not the anatomy.
Tests are made way harder than need be. Anatomy is hard enough we don't need to be tested by fill ins, labeling pics. She should stick to multiple choice and stop making harder than it needs to be. Way to stressful. Had to re take and got an A.
Dental student here. This lady puts you through hell and back for a 1 credit course. Wording on tests are poor and a cumulative final! Homework too, all for 1 credit. She's insane!
nice lady, tests way to hard if you were really going to use this information then she would be good. A nerds dream!
nice lady, not so nice prof. this class could've been easier if not for Karen, she makes exams extremely difficult. i do not reccomend this prof. if you need to take this course look for someone difffernt. if you do take it with her, dont buy the text book, it is not needed, exams are from the many notes you will be taking. good luck
Nice lady, tough teacher, tests are absurd, she crams way too much into each test
Her tests are extreamly hard and almost impossible to pass them. She teaches some very errelevant things that you will never need to know! Crams way to much into one class and you never get out on time. Very nice lady but now so hot professor
Hard but fair. Great prof: very nice & helpful; outlines tell you everything you need to know for tests. If you take great notes, study after each lecture and show up for extra labs you will do well. Many people fail because of poor study habits. However, quite a few make A's...so it's possible. Will well prepare you for adv. courses to follow.
Prof. Montgomery is a good teacher. She teaches the subject well and with colorful chalks to make it easier for you to visualize!! She definately knows her stuff. BUT...her tests can be difficult b/c of the diagrams that you need to memorize and she is a tough grader so make sure you study hard.
Professor Montgomery is a very nice lady and she always answered the questions I had.. Her tests and quizzes were extremly hard!!! Lets face it i tried to kiss her but and be a teachers pet, and she still wouldnt help me out at all!!!!
Good teacher, way intense. Not bad if you've got the time to put in.
Prof. Montgomery is a wonderful teacher. Very good at explaining difficult concepts. You can tell she loves Physiology. She has a first class mind and expects no less from her students. Be prepared to work hard in her class. This is not an easy subject but she makes it fun.
I will be very honest and fair in judging her as a teacher for students who are thinking of taking her. I am an A student and got a B in her class. I studied so hard hoping to get an A but just couldnt. Her tests are ridiculous. She is a nice woman but wont give u a straight answer. She does not scale ever. If you take her plan to study everyday.:(
wonderful teacher. made the material interesting and clear.challenging tests.I would defifinitly take a class with her again.
Amazing teacher. made the material extremely interesting. gave clear diagrams and overheads. challenging tests. I loved this class and would take another with this teacher.
Mrs. Montgomery is a very good lecturer, however, the subject matter she teaches is dificult and she has a tendency to everwhelm everyone with too much information that will never e be on the test. Her tests are EXTREMELY difficult, if you take this class, try to take it by itself or with very few other classes. Plan on studying everyday.
Exceptional teacher and communicates her subject really well. She makes difficult or confusing topics fairly simple. Mrs. M is so approachable and has a passion for what she's teaching. I would take her for Anatomy and then Physio, but it wouldn't be easy. You will learn if you take her.
Professor Montgomery is good she loves her suject but it is a hard class, alot of information to remember. Study every chance you can you'll need it.
She is an excellent professor and is very willing to give of her time to students who have any questions. She is also very enthusiatic about the subject material.
I really enjoyed her class. Mrs. M clearly loves her job and her enthusiasm for her subject is infectious. Sit up front, be engaged in class, take notes on your lecture notes (I did it as part of my review before each test and ended up with an A in the class), do the reading and you will be fine. Its hard work but it pays off.
Excellent Professor, She knows her materials, and she is very flexible when it comes to grading!
excellent in explaining
Best CCRI professor! Actually TEACHES and knows material she is teaching. She's enthusiastic, extremely helpful, and interesting. I enjoyed all of her classes and have found what she taught has been extremely useful for nursing.
very nice and helpful make sure you are there EVERY day. One day missed can through you completly off course.
Extremely difficult. She makes tests AS CONFUSING AS POSSIBLE! Mostly multiple choice. She makes it so that it could be all of the above, none of the above, or both a or b...stuff like that. Ridiculous cuz even if A is a correct answer, you get it wrong cuz you didnt say it was A and B...so you lose even though your answer was partially correct.
Prof Montgomery is tough. Attend the lectures and keep good notes, you will do fine. You need to tape her lectures (she tests from the lecture) and not by the book so you can't afford to miss anything. Reviewing the tapes after each lecture and retaking your notes is a must. Don't buy the text book but go online often and review the concepts.
Very important to attend all classes, if miss one it can throw you off for the rest of the chapter. Tests are hard, and she doesnt use the book only notes taken in class. She is a very nice person, understanding, and loves her job. she is enthusiastic about the material. I would take her again but it is not a class you can take a full schedule with
This professor is a joke, I think she mistaken's CCRI as Harvard University, because her expectations are ridiculous... I've always been a good student, and I worked hard to get the grade I did in her class, but her lecture exams are a joke, her questions are way more complicated than they need to be, and I won't even mention the esssay questions.
She seems like a sweet old lady until you receive your test grades back. She thinks Anatomy is an easy subject.. I knew all the material , but in the way the tests were worded, I got questions wrong. When it comes to her practicals, you need to study hard. Good luck, most likely you'll have to take this class over if you have it with Montgomery
She is a very sweet intelligent lady. Def do not take this class with other classes, one easy one at the most. She does not skip anything!!!record class and dont miss a class! extra lab time
Prof Montgomery is a wonderful teacher. Do not be scared off by comments of others. There is tons of material to learn no matter who you take it with. She is always available for extra help. Need to be able to put in the recommended 3-4 hrs at home for every hour in class and you will have no problems. It requires a whole new way of studying!
One of the best teachers I have had at CCRI. Attendance is not mandatory, but there is a lot of info in every lecture. She is very clear about what she expects of you and will answer all questions you have. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to fully understand anatomy.
Prof. Montgomery is a very nice lady, and her class is extremely hard. Lectures are very clear and her drawings helpfull, however, the exams are daunting. You have to study harder than you ever have before. Her recommended study times of 4-5 hours per lecture hour are realistic. Recommend taking this class by itself, nothing else!!
If you go to the lectures and pay attention, then you will do fine. But if you do not, you are screwed! Toughest teacher I have ever had but I never learned so much in a semester.
I suggest not taking Bio 1010 with Montgomery. She thinks that she is making the material "fun" and "easy" to learn but she is not. Her voice and tone that she uses makes you lose concentration easily and never want to attend lecture. Her exams are impossible to pass and she tries to cover way too much material in one semester.
Prof Montgomery is wonderful! Best teacher I have ever had. The class is tough, but she is extremely helpful. I loved her teaching so much that I took her for Physiology too. She is so passionate about her job and made class fun and enjoyable. If you are a serious student, then you should have no problem passing her class.
lots of material. extremely overwhelming. did not find her helpful at all. anatomy and physiology is a tough subject to begin with. Montgomery makes it much worse :( i have always been an A student, not with her! had to retake the class over with another teacher! avoid if possible!
Loves what she teaches! Reminds me of magic school bus ms. Frizzle!! :) she acts out everything so you better understand and remember! Very sweet teacher wish I had more classes with her. Tests are hard tho..
I really loved having Dr. Montgomery for Anatomy. If you had any questions she made herself available. She does want you to understand the material, so do not miss her class! Interesting, funny, and treats everyone with respect. The grade you get is the grade you earned.
I enjoyed prof. montgomery's class. i actually retook her class for a better grade and went from a c+ to an a-. this class is challenging and her tests include a lot of information. attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss a class you will have a hard time catching up. she does not use the book it is all notes from her lecture.
Hard teacher! Elaborates on unnecessary extra subjects. If you ask a question she answers with a question. Lets you figure it out on your own. Wasnt much help. Attend her lectures and if you miss it you'll have a hard time catching up. Good luck!
Great teacher, the material is hard but she presents it in an interesting way.
Professor Montgomery is amazing! Extremely helpful in her class. Her outlines are equally amazing. If you can answer the questions on the outline, you're good for her exams. Study hard and pay attention to details. Take good notes. Please go to her reviews prior to any exam. They are heaven sent! :) Good Luck!
Prof Montgomery LOVES what she teaches and her enthusiasm is infectious~Tests are difficult! Record lectures and answer outline questions~had a 4.0 before her~ i ended up with B+ in both anat & physio-they are hard no matter who teaches! She is great& very helpful
Prof loves teaching, we had fun. The course is hard. I'm not sure anyone rec'd an A. B+ was the best I heard. Unfortunately alot of redos, but the course is difficult. Attend all the study groups and answer the outline questions. Give it your best and that is all you do, don't get discouraged!
Wants too much work
Shes a great professor, love what she does and keeps it interesting!
Great professor! Always willing to help. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. I would highly recommend her.
Prof. Montgomery is an amazing professor! Listen, if you want to get that A, study. She is around when you need her, has study groups before exams, and is crystal clear in her lectures. There is no reason why anyone can't get an A with her.
Prof. Montgomery loves anatomy ! She loves it so much she somewhat pushes it onto you and goes off topic. Even though her test are only on what is covered in lectures, they were still hard. She is also very helpful in lab, and will help with any questions.
very nice lady but thats all I can say about nice...way to much information that doesn't need to be covered..tests are impossible to pass..study everyday!!..dont buy book..usually a good student..have to retake this again...never know what to write even though you know material...constantly drawing and coloring..if I wanted to major in Art I would!
VERY NICE PROFESSOR SEEMS SHE LOVES TEACHING BUT CLASS IS VERY CHALLENGING. A MAJORITY OF MY CLASSMATES HAVE TAKEN THE COURSE 2 OR 3 TIMES. TESTS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.
Very easy to understand and very helpful. She will make you fall in love with biology. After taking her class, I changed my major to Biology.
I've had a lot of professors in my life. This one was by far the best I had. She wants everyone to succeed, but you have to earn it!
This class was the most work I have put into any college class, but its totally possible to get an A! The material at times can seem overwhelming, but take some deep breathes, pay attention, answer ALL the objective questions at the end of the outlines and you will pass with flying colors! She is an amazing lady and truly loves what she does :)
This professor gives you your moneys worth. She has such a passion for anatomy and wants you to enjoy it as much as she does. You need to work for her tests, answer ALL the objective questions on the outlines and you will pass with flying colors. She is an amazing lady who really knows her anatomy. Take her for sure!
Amazing professor! I love how excited she is to teach. She clearly is a biology fanatic. Only issue I had was testing. Her exams are EXTREMELY difficult. But in all. A wonderful instructor ( although I may be taking the class again)
. she presents her lectures as storyline that is easy to follow and you think you' d do good until you take her tests. ?s are tricky, a and b,c and maybe a? its ridiculous, lecture is strait forward but test is not. spends a lot of time saying WHY something happens and then asks on tests what something looks like. Most students had to retake 2,3x
Unless you want to be really depressed, don't take this class with her. you can study hours on end, write every word from lecture and still her exams are very unfair and tricky. took class again with another prof. and man am I even more angry I wasted my time in her class when I knew the material.
Tests are so unfair you feel as though she is mocking your attempts in trying to enter medical field. "oh yeah, you think you know anatomy? well, how about this question?". questions are like: a and c, b or d and a, or option e: your going to fail this class
Mrs. Montgomery clearly loves what she does. Very knowledge. You MUST take notes as she speaks. Her tests are not easy, but if you study what is on the outline and your notes, you will be fine.
Mrs. Montgomery is VERY sweet. She loves Anatomy & sharing it with the world. However, it is VERY hard to pass her lecture tests. You MUST give 120% in this class. I didn't miss one class, and I will be taking it over next semester. I am switching to a different professor next semester because her tests were way too tricky. I am not okay with that.
Montgomery is very knowledgeable about the topic of human anatomy. BUT her class is extremely difficult. Her tests are TRICKY. Multiple choice questions are A, B, C- is A & B, D all of the above. Her lectures are full of information that you are not tested on. Most people failed or dropped, others it's there 2nd or 3rd time taking the course.
she was no help. Not understanding at all. she would mark the answers wrong if it was not spelled correctly. she was the cruelest professor and individual i have ever came across in my life.
Hard class but because of the information, not the professor. She is a great teacher and really cares, such a sweet lady.
Professor Montgomery is by far the best Anatomy teacher at CCRI. If you put in the time and effort you can get straight A's. She doesn't test on anything she doesn't cover in lecture so record and take lots of notes.
Prof. Montgomery, Is an amazing teacher! She is passionate about her lectures and always willing to help you with your understanding of the subject. The course material is challenging (anatomy and physiology), but if you're prepared you should be fine. Her love of BIOL is infectious! She's AWESOME and so sweet.
my absolute favorite professor since starting college (went to uri too) and have NEVER had a professor care about their students success as much. She'll hold the class for 30 mins to explain 1 thing 19 different ways until everyone gets it before moving on. Clear study guides that are so accurate and useful! Wouldn't take anatomy with anyone else.
Just took this class 2015 semester, & it turned out to be very stressful. I suggests taking it alone especially with this professor. Her lectures are too fast, she hardly repeats anything & even with studying her tests make u feel as if u will never get into the medical field. Please.. go with another professor to avoid taking this course TWICE!!
Amazing professor, but if you don't study you won't pass. My recommendation is to record lecture and do the lecture outline questions to study! Helped me get an A in the class.
She was very hard!!!! Her lectures had nothing to do with labs.
She is very passionate about Anatomy and loves teaching it. Her tests cover a ton of content and are very difficult. I recommend recording her lectures. You need to study 3-4 hours each lecture to have a chance at passing. Don't miss a class or lab if you want to pass! Hardest class I have ever taken!
Shes a very sweet person, but her tests are extremely difficult. You are tested on things that are not said in the lecture. I will have to retake this course.
She is a nice person but there were a few things I disliked about her course. Her exams are extremely difficult, they are based on what she says in lecture but some questions have nothing to do with it. She doesn't really have any resources to help succeed and her outline questions are ridiculously difficult. Needed to retake, wouldn't recommend.
She is smart, enthusiastic and cares. You have to study, pay attention during lecture her tests are all lecture based record everything take good notes and you'll do fine. People who don't do well is because they cut class don't take good notes and just make excuses if you try hard and take time to learn its easy. You rarely use a textbook.
She is so passionate about anatomy & physiology. Highly recommend you record her lectures and make sure you know the answers to the questions at the end of the outlines. Her tests are tough but if you study the questions and ask her questions during her office hours you're going to pass.
Her grading is a mystery and her tests are so hard! Some of her lecture content is not in the book or different then the book. Hardest class you'll ever take!
IMO, her tests are unfair and a mystery. She likes to put essay questions (compare/contrast) worth many points, and then gives you half the points even if you right down everything you can think of. Its just not a good way to learn anatomy but a good way to easily fail her exams.
She is very passionate about anatomy and the human body, however, I felt that she wants you to also know just as much as she does. The exams cover tons of material and her short essay questions/ compare and contrasts were terrible. I had friends in other anatomy classes and their professors didn't require them to know a lot of what she did.
If u take this class u will end up with a ten lb manual typed up by KM that will have you reading a page of directions on where to move your hand to locate one anatomical structure. And if you have trouble she will come by your side and tell you to read it over again. Other campuses provide manuals with pics pointing out structures.
Her exams will have three essay questions worth about 10 pts each, maybe compare and contrast. It seems like no one ever got the full points no matter how much they wrote, you can only write so much about a thumb. Try passing when you miss out on nearly 15 points and thats not even taking into account her tricky multiple choice.
if you attend every lab and lecture, pay attention, and are willing to put in the work you will be fine. as far as lab goes I highly recommend utilizing the open lab time every week. her lecture tests come directly from the notes in lecture and DEFINITELY do the objectives on each outline! her tests always had multiple chances for extra credit
She is a super nice teacher and really cares about anatomy but needs to update her lectures. Lectures are dreadful to sit through, I ended up having to record lectures to make sure I didn't miss any information because there are no powerpoints or handouts on her lecture. You will be tested on everything she said in lectures, so record them!
Very nice lady who is passionate about human body but very bad at teaching it to beginners such as myself. I felt as if I was missing a pre-req? Her exams are extremely difficult and too in depth. Withdrew from the class towards the end & took it with another prof next semester, was much better understood and less difficult.
Hardest class I have ever taken, she is super kind and nice but it doesn't make up for the fact that she gives very little help. She wants her students to figure things out on their own and for this class I just couldn't do it. I would recommend taking this class at the Warwick campus instead.
Professor Montgomery is a very tough teacher, but she should be because it is a difficult class in general and not an easy A class. If you record lectures and take good notes, read the book for more background info, and make flash cards from her outlines, I promise youll do fine. Shell answer any questions you have & wants to see you do well!!
Insanely hard, doesn't answer questions clearly, worst teacher ive ever had. I have an F at midterm.
Montgomery provides outlines for each lecture so you have a clear plan of what material is being covered with questions at the end for retaining the material. Definitely take notes in addition to her outline and that's all you need to study for the exams. Highly recommend taking advantage of open lab time. She's tough but great!
Professor Montgomery is very passionate about anatomy and I truly enjoyed her class. She is an excellent teacher and you will not fall asleep during her class watching power point after power point. She has many drawn diagrams that explain things well. Tough class but you'll learn so much. It set you up real well for bio classes after. Love her.
Karen is very passionate about what she teaches but she teaches more information than other 1010 instructors and moves at a very fast paced. I felt her exams could be a bit unfair, for example she will ask what path does Petey Poison take starting in the kidney to outside of body if you get one step out of order she marks them all wrong.
