tests have nothing to do with what she says
this is the first class i've ever had to fight the sleep in. it's getting somewhat better though.
The classroom material does not directly relate to the test material. This is a very boring class. She has yet to let our class out of time! There seems to be a high failure rate.
Dr. Rose is not very great at explaing things. She is very smart, but too smart to be teaching this class. She expects you to know every thing there is to do about biology before she even teaches you.
Microbiology! Dr. Rose is TOUGH! Doesn't explain things so that you can understand it. She's too smart and tries to give all of the information at one time. Also, she does not slow down at all. I hate this class!!!

This class is really hard!!!!!but,I don't think it needs to be as hard as she makes it!!! Her tests are supposed to be on one thing, and they are on something totally different. But she's the only one at SSCC that teaches Micro.They need to find someone else . I do Know that she fails about 50% of her class!!!!!
This class is pretty tough, but if you are going into the health field just deal with it. Its one of the hardest classes I have ever taken , but I know its harder at UA. Study her handouts, and go to class and do all the reports and make .It will raise it one whole letter grade!!!!!!!!
This class is unreal! She expects you to know everything about biology proir to coming in this class. She must think everyone took BIO103 from her. But they didn't. I have had a hard time finding anyone who has passed this class. If you are planning on transfering here for Nursing take Micro before you transfer! She the only one that teaches this!
. im a straight A student. i have always loved sciences. its my field of study- nutrition, chemistry, geology, mineralogy and psychology. i have had some DAMN good teachers at shelton. she is by far the worse. her notes are worthless. they dont match the tests, and her study guides dont match the notes. she has ruined this course.
If you have her as a teacher go ahead and drop the class while you still can! She is she worst teacher ever, she will not answer any of your questions clearly and will make you feel stupid. She is a very smart lady but can not teach at all! She does not care about any of her students or their grades until she realizes that half of the classis gone.

Very hard class. I have taken tons of classes at UA and have never in my life had a class this hard. DO NOT TAKE HER! she doesnt help you at all & the test are impossible. I dropped the class along with everyone else. I think maybe 2 people passed it
She is absolutely dreadful, if you can get anyone else at Shelton do that. I studied for atleast a week for her test and would only make a B. By the time my class ended there were only 8 people left. If, by chance, you do have her....good luck.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Do not expect her to help you at all. By the end of the class there was about 6 of us left...we started out with a full class.
Three weeks of class gone, 10 minutes late has been the EARLIEST she has shown up for class. She is behind on the syllabus, but she wouldn't be if she hadn't blown almost 2 hours of combined class time already by just not being there!

Worst teacher I've had a shelton, and I've had some BAD ones. She is not helpful, the notes are irrelevant and incomprehensible, and the tests are IMPOSSIBLE to pass. DONT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
Very late for class EVERY DAY, sometimes 20 minutes or more. Material would be difficult no matter who teaches it. Notes are disorganized and confusing, spends way too much time rambling before lab. Lectures seem scatter brained, not clear. She is nice enough, but the woman has no respect for her students time. Take this anywhere else.
Extremely hard class, had a hard time studying for the tests because her power points, and also the notes I took in class did not match up to her study guides. Avoid this class!
The teacher is very intelligent, however, she assumes you are on her level. She has turned a basic miro class into a graduate course. She has no compassion for the student. She was late for class. This was a four hour class. We stayed an hour later than schedule stated 85% of the time. She never had the grades posted when she said she would.

Go to Lawson in Birmingham, it's super easy, had friends that did it.She is very smart but should be doing research or teaching grad school.She does not care if you get the material or not,trust me. This teacher can not teach I cant hear her voice clearly,and her tests are very long I need more time to finish the test, that's why I never finish answering the questions.
I feel like Dr. Rose has been rated unfairly. Yes, she's a tough teacher, but she's also very intelligent and practical. Her exams require that you not only understand the bullet points, but you understand the overall concepts. I read the textbook and took notes from it and got high A's on all her tests. Just know the material and you're fine.
Rose is pretty much useless to listen to during her lectures. The only way to pass the test is to print her notes off black board (which have nothing to do with her lectures)and STUDY! i made an 89 but slept in class and read a few chapters occationally. very boring teacher too!!!
Dr. Rose teaches in a traditional College style. She provides outlines and objectives but doesn't spoon feed you notes. Read the chapters and learn about all the subject matter mentioned on her power points. Labs are fun but can run long. This is a difficult class because it covers massive amounts of material but it's interesting and she is nice.
1st 5 wks..Hard material,long rambling lectures-you have to self teach,but it gets better. I disagree that notes don't follow the test,they do,but you must also read book to tie it all in.Short answer questions hard,but she gives them in advance to learn.I dreaded this teacher but ended up liking her once I figured her out. You HAVE to study & read book b/c the material itself is complicated & she does ramble-especially in beginning. Material gets easier around ch.14. If you ask her a question she gives the classic"well what do you think" response,but she helps you figure it out. Made A's before this class-as of now I am 2 pts shy. Not bad considering the material!

Tough class, but very useful information for those entering a medical profession. Pay close attention,read the chapters, and be an active participant and you will do fine.Rose wants you to understand the material, not just memorize notes. Begin tests preparations as soon as objectives are posted and ask questions. This class IS doable! I made an A.
Dr. Rose is a very intelligent professor. She knows her material extremely well. Too well in fact. I came into this class praying for a C and somehow ended up with an A in the class. On average I studied about 20-30 hours per test. You can't look at information the night before the test and expect to pass the test. STUDY HARD.
Dr. Rose teaches to her own understanding,She teaches around subjects, so that you dont have a full understanding. She is too hard for an into biology instructor....

At first I stressed out a lot due to the fact I had to study reading every note we had in class along with the chapters. You can't just read over your notes and be okay. You have to understand it. Mrs. Rose is very intelligent, but I suggest going to tutors, that's what heled me pass as well.

Horrible at teaching. If you ask a question she will then ask you a question about your question and make you 10X more confused. She is nice and tries to help, but it's not enough. I worked my butt off to get a C and that's all I could get. RUN!!
I though the class was very easy. She is not the best at communicating and can be confusing at times but if you pay attention you will do fine. Labs are boring but they are not hard as well and it is an easy grade. I never cracked the book open and only studied the morning of the the test and made A's on every test. So it is not a difficult class.
Do not miss class or lab. Take detailed notes but also read the textbook. DO NOT depend on her study guides. The essay questions on her test will include what she says, but she adds to them on the actual test also.
Every time I ask for help or just ask a quick question she never has an answer. She will keep you in class very late on lab days because she never allows enough time to finish. She does not give you the whole class period to take your lecture test. In other words....DONT TAKE HER CLASS!

Listen to others, DO NOT TAKE HER!! She isn't helpful at all! I came to lab even on Friday's to re do lab. I still had a hard time. My GPA is terrible and now Im struggling to get it back up. Her study guide wasn't helpful to me. I wish I never would've taken her class!!!!!!!!!!
This is not the professor you want to have if you aren't going to put in A LOT of study time for tests. I personally never once looked at the book, but the online code is a must have for HW. She is a nice lady but she teaches what SHE understands, and makes it difficult for the class to get.
Dr. Rose is a very brilliant woman. Its important that you attend all classes and labs. She is always willing to help and answer questions. If you are going into nursing you need the course and she provides scenarios that apply to the medical field. I went into the class expecting a B and managed an A. If you take notes/read the book youll do fine.

Dr. Rose is a very sweet lady and will help you when needed. She's very intelligent and tends to bounce around different topics which makes the chapter you are learning difficult to understand. Her test are hard, but if you spend time studying a few days before the test then you should be fine. Her class isn't hard if you put forth effort.
Mrs. Rose is very intelligent which is both good & bad because she knows what she's talking about but has a hard time "dumbing it down". Half the class dropped. Tests were always scaled according to the highest grade. Not an easy A but do the online homework, practice problems, & study & it is very passable. A lot of self-teaching involved.

Shes a great person overall, but her teaching methods are sloppy. She is all over the place during lecture and it can be very difficult to keep up and understand her. She is super sweet tho! As long as you show up to class and do all the work, you should pass. There is a lot of studying involved as well.
I am so surprised that Dr. Rose has such a low score. If you are doing your homework and maybe even half of the studying for an exam, she gives out so many extra scale points that you are going to be fine. Just do your learnsmart homework and study for vocab quizzes, and exams you should study for anyways. Ended up with a 99%.

Her lecture tests & lab practicals are a bit tough & all over the place. Her lectures are looonng & boring. She gives study guides but they aren't always the content on the test so I suggest you read your book. She gives vocab quizzes often & a lot about of work through connect online. Only the strong will survive this class! Good luck!
This teacher does not explain absolutely anything . You will have a hard time passing .
She doesn't teach well . You will need to just read the textbook because she is all over the place.

She gives extra credit, as long as you do the online stuff and go to lab youll be okay. Tests are pretty much whats shown in her study guides. Nice woman.
The class isnt THAT hard but study as you do with all your classes. Make sure to read your book, GO TO LAB, and do the online work.

She's talks too fast and tells too much. Literally took almost the full time to do lab. assignments even though the assignment didn't require nearly as much explanation. somehow waste time talk but isn't clear on about her assignments.

Dr. Rose is on my top 5 worst teachers/professors I have ever had, she rambles and tries too hard to explain the simplest things and then confuses the whole class. The online assignments are rarely ever posted on time. She also lacks on posting grades in a timely fashion. None of her notes are in line with her tests or the vocabulary quizzes.
She is one of those professors where you have no choice but to make friends. Dr. Rose teaches off of PowerPoints and there will be a TON of notes. Shes a heavy grader but she makes the labs a little more enjoyable.

lots of extra credit points. helps to be in class, passes out handouts that aren't always posted on canvas. not much feedback given, or study guides. mcgraw-hill homework is a ton of busy work. kind & genuinely cares about student success. lectures can be confusing and hard to follow. check out powerpoint presentations for cliff notes.
She is an amazing teacher and her class is so easy to understand. She knows how to teach and explains thoroughly when questions are asked. Would take her again, I wish she would teach Bio 201!!
She is not clear at all about what she is talking about and does not stay on track while teaching. I have not learned much from her lectures. Quizzes are completely different than the study material provided. I would not have her as a professor again. She does not put in grades and also gives homework before giving the lecture on the lesson.
Oh my god, run far far away from anything she is teaching. Most mistake ever. She is horrible, rambles about complete nonsense, makes even the simplest task difficult. Vocab quizzes, yeah, never seen the definitions that are on those. Homework is on stuff I have never even heard of in class. Ridiculously hard for no reason is what this is.

First and most importantly, Ms Rose is an extremely kind professor, who will gladly help you if something is unclear. The class itself is very hard. Poor study guides. Hard tests. A lot of lectures. Honestly, the best thing about the class was Ms Rose herself.

This professor was extremely unorganized. The material she gave us to study did not match up with anything on the tests. She talked for the entire lecture time and did not actually teach anything. We were left to teach ourselves using the PowerPoint and mastering assignments.
Most of this class is lectures. If you aren't good at remembering things quickly, studying is a must. She is not very difficult the tests are just a little difficult. However, she does give study guides.

She is a sweet lady, but her lectures are hard to follow. She does give vocabulary tests, best 5/9 and a 6th added for extra credit. Homework and extra credit quizzes are easy. If you know the vocabulary terms for each lecture test, you will be fine. Labs are easy, just boring. She is nice and cares about helping you pass!
She was very attentive and responds back fast on anything that you don't understand in the class. Lecture heavy but she does give a lot of extra credit to help pass if you don't do so well on the lab and chapter tests. Participation and showing up for this class definitely matters if you want a good grade in the class.

Professor does not stay on task
The professor offers fair extra credit opportunities and provides students with comprehensive study guides for lecture exams. Although the lectures can be lengthy at times, the material is covered thoroughly, and the professor highlights important topics likely to appear on exams. I recommend studying a little each day after class.
