MTH 154 Quantitative Reasoning hybrid class. Attendance was mandatory but little to nothing is taught in the lecture. If you are good at getting your work done on time and being self sufficient, this class is extremely easy, most of the homework is Pearson MyLab modules and can be taken repeated to perfection. Tests are all multiple choice.
Okay teacher
She's not super hard, but her class is very boring, feel asleep twice. I attended every class but only learned a small amount, literally learned 90% of the material on MathXL which she does require.
Good professor. I would take her class again. She's really excited about math and is definitely willing to help with any questions. Do the homework because her tests are based heavily on it. She uses curse words a little too often. Otherwise, I'd recommend her class.
Awesome teacher. Super energetic and always happy to help. Brings real life scenarios into math. Any time I had problems I always knew she would be in her office ready to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The class content matches the exam content perfectly. Highly recommend taking her class.
She is very easy to understand and has a great enthusism for teaching math. My only complaint is that the use of MATHXL is heavily required for homework but her test are manual. I would have preferred consistency with homework and test.
I hadnt been in a math class in a long time and was worried but she put me right at ease. I saw her during office hours and asked ?'s she is just a brilliant math teacher and will only get better. Not a hard grader and wants everyone to succeed.
Very boring teacher. I've always been a fairly decent math student with high A's, but this class is a chore to get through and I gave up halfway in the semester. I hated MathXL, which she required, but her tests were pen and paper. She has very few grades. Only thing I learned in her class was not to ever take a once a week math course. Meh.
Good Teacher! She teaches the material well and is willing to answer questions you may have. The tests in this class aren't easy but are fair-game and questions are relevant to the lectures and homework . Had to work hard for the A- I received but I would definitely take her class again.
I took her 12 week precalc class. i failed the first test, but that was the last test i failed. got a 96 on the final and a B in the class. Why? I went to her. Honestly if you see her literally once a week to discuss material you will pass the class. her lectures are boring so it will be hard to grasp concept but one on one she's amazing.
as much as I hate math, last semester was fun because of this professor. her lectures are clear and on point. she is always there to help in every way possible. you should take her if you wanna have fun with math.
Very smart women. Very sweet and understanding. However her teaching style didn't work for me. She just bangs out 1 or 2 problems on the board faster than I can write, and then assigns 50+ problems per section. Had to go to math lab and teach myself everything. If math isn't your strong suit, take another prof.
She was very nice and would meet outside of her office hours to meet with you. The homework and quizzes were a big problem, it was anywhere from 50-150 homework problems, and then she'd choose 2-4 problems from those problems as your quiz. She made a lot of the material harder than it needed to be as well. If you struggle with math, don't take her.
I've never been a math person, but I finished the semester with an A. I actually understood the material because she explains the topics with lots of examples. She is a really funny and chill. Highly recommend!
TOOK HER FOR MTH 163 AND WAS ONE THE BEST PROFESSORS IVE TAKEN. SHES VERY HELPFUL, GIVES FEEDBACK ON QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. TRIES HER BEST TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL AND HER OFFICE HOURS ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL, ESPECIALLY TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS. WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN!!
I LOVE professor Sandreczki!! It takes a few classes to get used to her teaching style, but then you are good to go! She does a really good job of explaining the why of Calculus, instead of simply the how. That being said, it is calculus and if you don't go to class you won't understand what you are doing. Homework is for you and not graded.
She was such a good and amazing teacher. She explained everything clearly and if anyone didn't understand, she was ready to repeat it. H.W not graded but it is helpful for the exam.
Her lectures were clear and helpful, but the homework assigned was irrelevant to tests. Also showing up to class does not count as 100% attendance, you must attend her after school help sessions or the math lab? The one good thing is your final exam grade replaces your worst test score which can bring your grade up a lot.
Do not take her for online courses unless you are prepared to teach yourself or are able to go to office hours. The only way to see your graded test is to go to office hours. This makes it difficult to learn from your mistakes. She does not post notes or lectures. You teach yourself. She will answer questions via email. Homework is not graded.
This was the hardest class I've ever taken. I'm beyond upset with this teacher. The way she weights all the grades is not fair at all. She's not very good at explaining the material. She knows what she's doing she's just not good at teaching.
awful professor. her teaching methods include you sitting down and trying to copy everything she's writing on the board. doesn't really stop and see if anyone understands the material, just writes nonstop. BE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF. also, many of the things she says are super cringy and makes u second guess if it's worth staying in her class.
Honestly was one of the worst math professors I've ever had. Her lectures are rather confusing and she teaches the harder versions of each lesson. There isn't much homework but when she does assign it she chooses the hardest problems. Does not teach the basics of each lesson. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
If you're not a math wiz like her you'll be very confused. Better be a fast writer too bc all she does is write the notes on the bored and assume you understand everything. Homework doesn't even count or help. Only like 4-5 exams which either makes or breaks you. She doesn't explain the material well. Just pick another professor if you read this.
No offense to the professor but I hated her. Seemed like she didn't care and was mostly about herself. Didn't let us use calculators
At first I was worried to take this class since it had been awhile taking a math class. She is very clear with her teaching and will explain over until you understand. With grading she is great! Does not make it difficult at all!. You need to put your part to pass the class. Do homework, attend class(its part of your grade) and you'll do great!
Professor Sandreczki is fun, geeky, and thorough. She is passionate about her subject and it shows in her teaching.
Best math teacher Ive had. Once youre used to her teaching style its easy to understand how clearly she is explaining everything. Have taken two classes w her now. Highly recommend. As always w math show up and do the hw. If you do the hw the tests arent bad. She doesnt try to trick you. Partial credit on the tests. Attendance is graded
She is knowledge about math, but she does not know how to teach. lectures are not organized. she answers questions about hw, but it either takes more than half of the class time or all of it and skips the actual lecture for that day. only 7 classes did she teach the lecture and the rest was her answering hw questions. Need to self teach.
Professor Sandreczki is not a good professor. She knows math very well, but her teaching style isn't good. Questions on homework take a good portion of the class. Self-teach may be the best strategy. I'd take this class with another professor, unless you love math and can stay on task with homework (which is NOT counted). A very test heavy class!
She is fair with grading, and available for one on one help during office hours. Do the HW, not graded, but helpful for the tests. Doesn't try to trick you, and never makes you feel as if you have asked a stupid question. Do not miss class! She doesn't give up on students that put forth the effort and is good at explaining to your learning style
She's really a good professor. Very nice and gives office hours to help students one-on-one. I'd take her for 164 if she was available for it. Just overall a good professor. Tests are only 10 questions + bonuses. There are graded study guides but they are however very easy to get full credit on. Do not miss class you will lose points VERY easily.
Professor Sandrezscki is a great professor. Some may say that she goes a bit too fast for them, but she really gives you everything you need to pass the course. in 163, she gives questions from the textbook to write in a book called your "study guide" and if you don't, chances are you wont do well. Visit the math lab for extra credit. Wud take agan
Loved her. Actually taught you good skills such as the study guide book and your notes; I honestly would have not passed pre-calc if it wasnt for her. This tactic of hers really does teach you how to study in math heavy courses such as chem and physics. Yes, a bit querky but she really does make scary precalc sound easy. Take her, no regrets
One of the best Math Professors at NOVA. She teaches the class in a way that there is possibly no way for you to get lower than a B. Her home works are worth 20% of you grade but actually teach you everything about the test, study those and you should be fine.
Prof Sandreczki clearly has a passion for teaching. If you are looking for a class that will give you clear understanding of precalc, look no further. Always available to reach during office hours. Moderately heavy online hw but if you keep up with it, you will not only get a higher grade but will have an in-depth understanding of course concepts.
The lectures were pretty straight forward. Do the homework to get a better understanding in order to pass. Homework expands on each topic. Homework was done on an AI system called ALEKS. She gives EXAM bonuses after each exam that are worth 5 points each.
This professor gets off topic really eaisly, and I mean it. She loses track of what she is saying and sometimes messes up while teaching. She is hilarious and easy to approach. She is very helpful and makes math fun and a breeze. You will work online through ALEKS and the more effort you put in, the higher the grade you get. No extra credit work.
Best teacher yet. im not a fan of math but she makes it bareably. she goes off topic way too much but it gives you a break from math. she is approachable and will give you tips and tricks. no calculator in precalc. everything is on aleks, do the hw and you will pass. three tests, one final, and aleks is what you get graded on. no textbook required.
She speeds through lectures. Is more concerned with her own ability to do the arithmetic rather than teaching. picks the hardest questions possible for tests, even if you understand the concept perfectly, its still incredibly difficult because of the complexity of the problems. I wouldn't take unless you're a math major, and you enjoy pain.
She is very disorganized and hard graded person
Tests are hard, but graded with partial credit. if you take an 8 week class, because you're trying to get things done, you're in for it. She has done a good job to keep the class on schedule for required material in the time given and make it understandable.
I am in my first semester taking calc II online. I took AP Calculus AB last year in high school, and received a 4 on the exam. My effort last year caught up to me. I got a C+ on my first exam, and went crazy. Despite only three exams, I am now on track for at least a 90 thanks to dedication. Online is hard, but Sandreczki is soo sweet. I love math!
She's okay. Kind of annoying in a way and sometimes acts like she doesn't care at all and I personally think she's not very good at explaining the material. Her lectures get confusing even though I have always been good at math. However, tests are just like the study guide which is great. Doesn't allow calculator which made class difficult.
A really great and caring professor. If you put in the effort to learn the material, you will do great. I thought her lectures were great, and she always stops to ask if anyone has questions. You can tell she wants her students to succeed. Homework may seem like a lot in the beginning, but it gets much better. Tests are very fair! Take her!
Ok she is a very personable professor and she is friendly towards students however her ability to teach is poor. When we take notes she writes the information down on the board so fast that you are barely able to keep up. Almost every class I have been stuck 2 or 3 steps behind in equations and this leaves me confused. Homework and tests okay.
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN'S COURSES!!! I have her for math 106 at George Mason University, which is very much connected to NOVA. I had her for math 106. An absolutely terrible teacher who CANNOT RESPOND TO EMAILS AND GRADE ANYTHING TO SAVE HER LIFE. Super inconsiderate when it comes to making up grades for doing poorly/missing for good reason.
Does not follow her own syllabus for online class. Responds to emails once a week, even when tests dates are near. Keeps everything in her syllabus hidden and separate.
By far one of of the most relatable professors. I was anxious to take this class, as it was my second time taking it, but she made the experience much more enjoyable this time around. Even though the course was online, the PatrickJMT videos she recommended pulled me through all the course material in six weeks. Would definitely have here again!
I took an 8 week class with this professor. The work load was fair. She gave good lectures. She went at a pace that was very easy to follow. You can tell she cares about her students. Super funny and down to earth. Definitely my favorite professor.
I fell asleep for the entire class and till after and when everyone left she just woke me up and said she used to do the same thing all the time; tests are a cakewalk if you do the homework. I didn't show up except for the tests and did fine.
Took MTH 263 online for 8 weeks. Lots of quizzes/hw on webassign, 3 exams, 6 discussion boards, and 6 handwritten quizzes. Definitely a lot of work and heavy exams in a small amount of time.
COVID19 hit, online classes began and she went MIA. Lectures ended. From then on, I had to teach myself Calculus. Granted, she wasn't that great before switching online. She is easily distracted. Very disorganized. Unresponsive to emails. On top of all of that, she included Calc 2 questions on the Calc 1 final. Nice person, terrible teacher.
I wonder how she was in the in-person class. But she is ridiculously a terrible teacher, a tough grader in an online class. No Zoom, No lecture, all she has to do is grading on time, give clear, considering feedback. BUT NO :) I wish she knows we both have a hard time with COVID19. She can disappear, delay her works, but her student can't :)
bro we just started school and she cant do anything right. all she does is talk talk and tell us we have homework. does not respond to emails and pretty much doesnt care about you. I made a mistake taking this class, never knew it was 8 week. just dont take this class pls
She does not answer emails in a timely fashion. Whatever you do, please do not take this horrible professor. She should be fired.
Probably my worst experience in math yet do not take her class she has terrible hand writing for her recording and doesnt answer emails like this is a students future your talking about. She doesnt make sense when she speaks your teacher is basically alecks. I REPEAT THIS CLASS . I was in her 8 week class and i felt like i was going to fail day 1
She uses ALEKS as a teaching tool. She does not teach in class just reviews what you have trouble with in homework. You teach yourself in ALEKS. For students new Pre-Calc and have trouble learning yourself, it's not the course for you. If you know the course, it will be an easy A for you. She sometimes mutes her volume so ask questions through chat
If you're straight out of high school take this class, everything should come easy to you, but if you haven't took algebra in a few years ALEKS will give you lots of topics to learn. It is very time consuming but she offers exam rewrites which are super helpful.
You definitely have to take notes, study outside of class (youtube, mathelp, etc.) you will be teaching yourself. 161 wasnt bad because ALEKS was great but 261 was harder because MML kind of sucks. If you want an A, take notes and study them. no extra credit. Ask questions. Dont be the person who failed because they were scared to ask questions.
Dont take her if you cant math. She does not allow a calculator ?? Like she is also THE WORST GRADER. She does not grade a single thing. She also does not teach. You basically teach yourself through aleks. DO NOT TAKE HER
You basically are left to fend for yourself. She does not teach AT ALL, the actual teacher is a program called ALEKS and she just reviews over that. She goes off on random tangents during class so we often dont review everything. She doesnt make math fun OR easy.. AND NO CALCULATORS! Shes a mess, do not take her. One of the worst math teachers
She doesnt grade fast or answer questions really. You teach yourself and you learn that you wont know your grade till finals week. She told us to "Just ignore it like I do" when it came to our grades dropping by half partway into the end of the semester. Still havent seen my 2nd exam score despite my final exam being around the corner. DO NOT TAKE!
Though this class was pretty easy to learn calculus 1, it is up to you to be able to learn everything on your own. It does take a long time for the teacher to grade exams, so you won't know your score until roughly about a month after taking handwritten quizzes/exams. The exams and quizzes are fairly easy, as they're based on the homework.
I would personally give this professor negative stars if possible. During this entire semester, she has waited until the very last month to grade anything and takes multiple weeks to grade exams. It is the last week and I have no clue what my final grade in this course will be. Don't bother showing up for class because she doesn't teach in them.
This is essentially a do-it yourself course. She gives you the tools on ALEKS and you do your homework on time and take the exam. She barely teaches because there is so much material, but I must add that the exams are EXTREMELY fair and only cover material from ALEKS, unlike many other teachers who throw random things on the test.
Teacher is not good. She was constantly yelling at students to pull up their masks yet she didn't wear one herself. She also is a terrible teacher and speaks super quietly. She makes everything too hard to understand so I stopped going to lectures and instead learned by myself with youtube videos because that was easier. Overall really bad class.
She was a nice professor, but did not explain material well at all. The class is very quiet and awkward, most of the time the class is correcting her errors. For me this class was very hard. Teacher was not organized, nor punctual with grades.
This "professor" is the worst teacher to ever exist. At the beginning of every class she emphasized that we can fail the class next semester even if we fail. She did not even care about anything. She graded everything at the end of the semester which messed up almost everyone's grade in her class. Please save yourself and DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
I had her for fall of 2021 and she was not that bad. As long as you do the all the ALEKS assignments, you would do good on the exams. Those ALEKS assignments are very long and is part of your grade, so keep that in mind. Ask her as many questions as you have and she will answer them! Also easy grader on exams!
This professor relies on an online program that ends up teaching you aka teaching yourself. Professor Sandreczki makes regular mistakes in lecture. She randomly goes on tangents not related to class. If you struggle in math I would not recommend taking her as you are mostly teaching yourself.
She takes a really long time to grade assignments, & there are so many assignments due every week that take a long time to complete, so be prepared for that. She doesn't seem to know what she's talking about a lot & goes on tangents. She uses ALEKS & ur pretty much gonna have to learn everything yourself. Lots of non-math assignments.
There is so much work. She uses her help class as an extension of time. Our first assigment was 50 topics, theres a quiz, test, two groups of topics a week, every two weeks an exam. This class is taking so much time there is no time to work for other classes. She doesnt explain. We aren't aloud to use calculators. Its jus to much work especilly for"baby mth"
please for the love of all that is right in the world, do not take this professor. i would not recommend her to my worst enemy. Took 5 weeks to grade exams that are worth 50% of the final grade. Expects a ridiculous amount of homework from you. exams do not reflect the homework. also gives "philosophical" questions on exams which are mini essays.
Professor Sandreczki is very kind and caring. Not the best professor but still enjoyable. Lectures are somewhat pointless because she goes on tangents and loves to talk to students about unrelated material. Knows her math stuff but most of the learning comes from ALEKS work. Is leniant and gives extra credit. Would recommend but be prepared to work
Never answered any of my emails and didn't grade our first test from the end of May until after the course ended. She graded all 3 exams after the course was over and had no clue what the final grades were. Continually canceled office hours and never answered emails. At least 5 20+ question homework and discussion boards each week.
I took her self-paced 7-week online Calc 2 course and received an 94. I don't understand why some people are complaining about having too much homework when they literally signed up for an ACCELERATED course. The questions on tests and quizzes reflect the WebAssign homework assignments. She grades late but it shouldn't affect your final grade.
Shes okay. Just know: 1) Takes a LONG time to grade. Waited to last week for all the homework, and half a semester for the first test. 2) Misses a lot of class, which I dont mind until she tells us to teach ourselves a couple chapters. 3) Homeworks are discussion boards. Having a discussion board in high level math will not help you learn it.
Prof Sandreczki seems like a decent person; her teaching, though, not so much. She missed class on multiple occasions, sometimes without notice until class time. Her lectures consisted of copying lackluster textbook notes that did not fully reflect exam content. Grades were only discussion boards and exams, which took too long to be graded.
She isn't as bad as others say. She does say the most random stuff and goes off topic during lectures but it's because she wants to give people the opportunity to catch up on the notes. Aleks quizzes are easy A's if you do the chapter reviews and always do the quiz rewrite if you got a bad quiz grade. Tests are literally Aleks questions.
Look, Prof. Sandreczki is a sweet lady. She is kind and empathetic toward her students. However, as a professor, I expect better. I took the Hybrid course yet EVERYTHING was online. She did not lecture; coming into class was pointless, yet mandatory. If you are not very self-motivated and disciplined, beware. Many assignments, MyLabs, etc.
Despite everybody else's bad experiences with her, I've had quite a good experience. I did have to do Aleks on the computer for like 25+ hrs a week which is a bummer but is passable nonetheless. She is more than happy to help during her office hrs and replies to messages on Canvas quickly. Very caring professor and I definitely would take it again.
I took her for MTH 154 but idk why I can't see it here. Professor Sandreczki is sweet and fun, but attending her class is not really helpful. I took the hybrid course and everything is just recorded and lecture days doesn't really feel like lectures. We had tons of Pearson activities, and 3 videos quizzes weekly for every chapter.
Professor Sandreczki was very friendly and easy get along with, although very kind and wants her students to do well, there is a ton of coursework and i don't believe she gave extensions. I took her hybrid course and just wish the lecture was more impactful. Overall, it was a good experience I would recommend for students who are more disciplined.
I felt very very sorry for her. Like being taught by a terrified chihuahua-- trembling, fear, borderline tears, existential dread. Dread, angst just radiating off her. Literally shaking. We had a sub one day and they did more problems on the board than the professor did all semester. Karen did not grade anything until the last week. Just painful
She was a sweet lady and very understanding but she gave a ridiculous amount of assignments. Her lectures were practically useless as 70% of the time she was rambling about a completely unrelated topic. As a person who already struggles in math I would not recommend her. It's incredibly hard to keep up especially when you're taking other courses.
Super disorganized. Be prepared to learn a lot on your own. Lectures are pointless, however attendance is mandatory. Tons of homework all due on the same day. Cancels class often. Wanders around the room and basically says “um” the whole lecture. Unprepared.
She was disorganized and sometimes misses class and we would have a sub without making an announcement for us. Her lectures do not make sense. She would get sidetracked and then get distracted delaying our lecture time. There was 3 exams and one final with quizzes every week. I studied every day and went to tutoring and office hours still failed.
Karen does not belong teaching. She cannot stay on task to properly teach a lecture. Hard deadlines are necessary in college, but when the professor is so lazy that she uses other teachers videos, PowerPoints, and notes to take the class, you are not a teacher, you are plagiarizing. You will not have a gage on your grade, she takes weeks to grade.
If Karen spent less time eating, she would have more time to grade, more time to work on her course that needs much improvement, and would maybe have time to teach math 154 instead of talking about useless things during lecture time. Mr. Scalea subbed once for her and he taught more in one class than she did the whole semester.
Tons of homework due every week, pointless discussion posts that are graded heavily, lectures don't really help because of just reading off of PowerPoints (that are also unhelpful when it comes to studying for exams).
