Prof. Savage enjoys her subject. She explains topics very well, repeats info, answers questions and it's a joy to take her class. Very fair, wants you to succeed, lots of extra assignments IF you need/want to, great presentations. SUPER INSTRUCTOR!

This is the best teacher. She has powerpoints and notes that match. You only need to listen and study those handouts. She makes science fun. If there is anything you don't understand she will help you.

ok this was weird. everything was hard but on the 3 major tests, we could use an index card which saved me. i was scared of this class but asked questions,showed up daily,and did xtra credit.like many people have said, take savage vs. the other 170 teachers.

Great teacher. Very nice and helpfull.No need for the $100 book, just the $12 notes. Tests based strictly on the notes. No hw or cw. Just 3 tests. Pretty easy but a lot of info to remember 4 the tests. If you need to take geol 101, i suggest Pro. Savage.

She is a sweet professor that really cares for her students. You must study more than just the study guide to do well on tests (hint: read the chapters and study lecture NOTES) and you'll be good. She's a very dedicated person and is also approachable! Recommended!! She's great!!

I loved her class. After her first test, she realized she needed to be clearer with the study guide, and she was. Her hw assignments r easy, tests aren't bad at all if you study(a night or 2 bfore the test), and she's really nice and offers extra credit, I got an A and thought I'd get a B, excellent in every way! I really like this class, its a little challenging to get the terminology but its really really interesting and professor savage is really cool,there's a lot of extra credit opportunities though you dont really need them. I highly recommend this professor to everyone she's awesome!i actually dont mind the fact that class is at 9:30 in the morning:)

Very cool teacher. Super nice and really wants you to do well. I thought this class was going to be really boring but she made it really interesting. Really easy, too. Just go to class. She gives out a study guide and all the questions on the tests come from that. I just read over the study guide the night before and I got A's on all the tests.

Karen is the greatest!!!! She helps you soooo much and wants you to learn. Yes, you can use notecards on the tests, but let me tell you, you'll learn by preparing your notecards, you just won't be as stressed when you have to take the test. She is the best, I'd take her again, if I had to.

Seriously an awesome teacher. She goes through the notes and tells you the exact questions to study for the tests. Then she goes through all your previous tests and tell you the ones that are on your final. She is the best teacher really interesting and easy. She tells it like it is and sticks to it.

She is seriously the BEST teacher at CSUN. I dreaded taking this class because I HATE science but she made this class so enjoyable & not hard at all. I know alot of people who had trouble taking this class w/ other professors but you must take it with her because it is impossible to get anything below an A. She's very funny and smart!!!

EASY! YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY A TEXTBOOK. She only requires you to buy this book that's less than 7 bucks. Her test are easy (she gives study guides!!) Her lectures are interesting yet it could sometimes be a bit boring. She also gives extra credit!

SHE IS VERY VERY EASY, besides that she is a great teacher that transmits her passion for geology to other students, and makes the class more interesting. I like that she interacts with her students. She's a wonderful teacher.

Her online classes are the easiest way to get credit for the Science GE Requirement. A few quizzes, exams, and assignments but there are study guides that will really help you out. Did I also mention it's online and you can work on your own pace. Book is a little expensive, but it's really worth it if you want credit. Take her for GEOL 100 or 300!

She's an amazing teacher! I am not a fan of science but her class has been a breeze. She doesn't ask much, just that you show up and participate. Very hands on teaching style, notes are almost spelled out for you in paper packet. Daily quizzes but you get to use your homework and they come straight from it. Highly recommended.

Very Good class. Karen is very clear and makes science seem so easy. She tells you exactly what is on the test and gives you a cheat sheet to use during the test. If you have to take this class do not take it with anyone else... she is amazing!

i took this class online which i really recommend to anyone. there like a quiz for each chapter and 3 exam including the final. do not need a hardcopy of the text, one is available online for like 30 bucks!..if anyone is familair with control F on word highly recommend copying the chapters to word, since all exams are open-book. really helps.

Geology 300 Online. NEED BOOK. She is very easy just do the practice problems and quizes after each chapter. There are 3 midterms that have to do with the quizes and practice question. Great upper division class

Class is pretty easy, however I earned a B+ and because of her mistake she sent a "WU" to the admissions as my grade, which lowered my GPA. But that grade will be changed to a B+. Make sure you count your grades yourself end of the semester because she makes mistakes!

Great professor who still has a passion for teaching. She's very talented and treats you like an adult. Very fair grading and reasonable assignments. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was one of the best online courses I've ever had in CSUN. The content of the course material, the flexibility and pacing of the course itself, the challenging assignments, the selection of text, the supplemental course lecture notes ---everything was just organized and well thought-out. An A+ professor!

This was a cool class. I never read just skimmed the book during each quiz and test for the answer and got an easy A.

Took this class online. The material of the course is rather straight forward; all from the textbook and PowerPoint. I think there were 3 exams, each covering 5 chapters. Also, there were a handful of assignments. She's extremely responsive and willing to help. Overall, an easy class. Just keep up with the reading and you'll do fine.

you can get an B in this class with your eyes closed. she is a really nice lady, i was at an A- and i emailed her asking i could do EC for the A and she said of course.I hve never had a teacher actaully agree to handing out extra credit at the end of the semster to raise grades. GREAT LADY!!

i took this class online; kinda boring, but it's totally worth it since it's very easy and make sure to try to avoid procrastinating cuz if you do them ontime you can get an A yes with full credit on quizzes and exams thats it.

Basically the same as other posters. Her online class is basically a joke. As long as you stay current with the reading you can ace the class with no trouble at all. She didn't demonstarte excellent helpfullness as the other students seemed to have received. Her email response was rather slow in my opinion. But all and all, very easy A.

She's nice! Very understanding. The class is pretty straightforward, just complete the online assignments and study her study guides. 3 tests, final not cumulative. The material in my opinion was sort of boring, but she did her best to make the material interesting.

I took her 100 online class. Super easy. The assignments were multiple choice and you get two tries!!! :D She gives study guides and chapter guides which are extremely helpful. I highly recommend this class. She is very nice and enthusiastic about the subject.

Took this class online in the summer. Highly recommend taking it in a shorter term, goes by fast. Easy to keep up with, communicates well via email.

She is extremely helpful and fair. There is a quiz everyday so attendance is very important.

I took her Geology Lab. At first it seems overwhelming she gives you packets of geology worksheets. They are long but doable. Plus you can turn them in whenever. She lets you retake quizes if you do really bad. She's all about you passing so if you don't pass is because you don't want to pass!!!

I had over 100% before the final. She is great and will tell you what to study for tests and answers all HW questions in class for everyone to help. Professor Savage is extremely caring and good at what she does. She's very helpful and makes sure each student understands the material. She's not only caring inside the classroom but you can talk to her about other issues and she'll really listen. Loved this class! Great teacher! She is Real people! Understands this isn't your only class. She accommodates to her students/understanding to personal hardships that always seem to arise during the semester. Few simple out of class projects, 3 tests (multi-choice, matching phrases, T/F) + final. Lots of extra credit offered! low book use.

She is extremely reasonable & approachable. Quizzes based on HW, just read the chapter, try the HW, she will help with questions before every quiz. I did this & got 100% on every quiz. You can bring a 1/2 page cheat sheet for every exam, including the final. This was so helpful! She's so nice and the class can be fun. Definitely take her class.

Dr.Savage is a great professor. Very knowledgeable and great at conveying information in a clear, effective way. If you don't understand, ask questions, she is willing to help. You can use a formula cheat sheet on exams. There is a course pack you must buy from the bookstore, which contains all assignments. We used 1/5th of it. Many EC chances.

A hybrid course and super easy. The teacher is super understanding and answer every question that you have. She understands that classes should not all be about quizzes and tests and spends time actually getting us to know the material. If you take a lab at the same time it will help tremendously! Easy A if you put in some effort!

Honestly this was the easiest online class I ever took and I suggest anyone take this class. You have online quizzes and tests to complete through moodle, and discussion forums to give your feedback on the reading. Highly recommend this class. I got through it without a book with an A.

Easiest class you will ever take. Very few assignments, and study guides have all of the multiple choice test answers on them. Prof. Savage talks a lot about the Valley's geography which makes the class more interesting for locals.

There was little interaction between the students and professor. An online quiz and video assignment and you have an exam every 4 weeks, I believe. Also you have to do 8 discussion questions. Pretty easy class, just read the book.

Such an easy class, which was great for a GE requirement. Great and kind professor. Make sure to be in class on days she goes over the exams! I got an A without the textbook, so save your money.

Great Teacher. Understands her field. Good power points, sometimes she will show you cool rocks. A few non cumulative "quizzes" are given, and she gives study guides. she has a good sense of humor, so make use of that.

Took Oceanography class online which I loved. Her powerpoints are great study guides, but it helps to read the textbook too. She writes the tests YEAHH!!!!& Even though they were challenging I really liked that because when a textbook co, writes them they are terrible. Karen made the class really easy, I learned a ton, and shewas really helpful.

By far one of the best professors at CSUN. She is funny and makes class interesting. There are 3 exams and a final. The final is not cumulative. Easiest class I've taken. She gives you a study guide for 4 test all around 70-100 questions. You have one mini project that was a page long. Don't buy the book just take notes. Make sure to be there for the reviews because that's when she tells you what's on the test !

Very fun professor! Her lectures are always interesting, it must be the way she teaches that makes the class interesting and enjoyable. Tests are easy if you study from the study guide she gives you. Also I actually liked working on the project that she assigns.

Prof Savage is a very laid back instructor. She does not demand much and her class is very straightforward if you show up every once in awhile and pay attention. She has 3-4 tests and does her best to make sure that each student understands what will be on the exams.

The class was online, but my interactions with Prof. Savage were good. She clearly cares about students which is always nice. When it comes to classwork, using google for help can only go so far. Do yourself a favor and actually read. I do not know how I could possibly succeed without it. The workload is fair, but get ready to read.

Great class. Gives you notes to take for class. 4 exams, non-cumulative, 2 we literally chose questions from the notes we wanted on the exam. Funny professor, relatable, cares for her students. Says that her tests are not cumulative; they are. Gives practice exams that may or may not be related to the test. Quiz questions are where it's at. Attending class is not mandatory but certainly is a good idea. No need for textbook to pass. Makes great explanations and tells stories which she incorporates into her tests.

The professor is really nice and if you need any help you can definitely go to her. Take the lab that goes with this class because it really helps out a lot with the material being provided. You must also study for her test in order to pass them because it's a lot of information that you are learning.

The online class was extremely simple and easy. Homework and quizzes have multiple attempts allowed. Tests are also easy since the questions are similar but are 60% of your total grade, so do good. Book is not necessary and Google is your friend. Prof seems like a sweet woman, but there is really no need to contact her.

Geology can get boring and this professor is really passionate about Geology so she tries to make it interesting. You are required to buy a textbook, but don't get the latest edition to save money. She had 3 extra credit opportunities and those include watching 2 netflix movies and 1 museum visit. Keep track of online quizzes and sign in sheets.

I took professor Savage for GEO 101. She made the class as easy and clear as possible. It's easy to Ace her class without learning, but if you want to learn you can also learn. She is very knowledgable about the subject she teaches, and her lectures are very interesting.

Professor Savage is one of those professors that truly wants you to pass and get an A. She does take attendance but she also upload the notes, however I do recommend showing up because she gives you the answers to the study guides and tells you all the questions that will be on her exams. Ms. Savage is down to earth, moves at a pace everyone can follow, is clear in what must be submitted, responds to questions well, and does what she can to help everyone succeed. Karen responds to every email with clarity. She is kind and answers questions. She lets you redo homework for a better grade. Study from old exams because she reuses questions. Her material is clear.

Honestly this class was SUPER easy online. It is a lot of busy work but you can finish it in a day since the course is in 3 parts, meaning first quarter quizzes/reading hw then one overall exam. Basically, three exams, 15 quizzes, and a ton of mini quizzes + hw intended to help you on exam. Overall super easy and easy to do.

Easy, simple, online class, while learning a lot! 3 2 hour exams, chapter quizzes, and homework. Everything is due in three sections, so if you're a procrastinator and want to do everything in 2 days, this is your class. Would highly suggest taking her!

My favorite professor! I genuinely learned so much from her. Is such an amazingly kind person. Class is fairly easy and tests are easy as long as you study for at least an hour. She is very patient and helpful with every student and she wants everyone to succeed. There is no homework. I took her Oceanography class.

If you're looking for an easy A then this is definitely your class! There are 3 exams and a few homework assignments. The exams are worth around 100 points each so take the time to study. She gives you quizzes and practice exams which help you prepare for the actual exam since she uses most of the same questions. I totally recommend taking her!

Loved this class and professor! If you copy down the lectuare notes (which she posts) and take notes while in class you will get an easy A! She usually gives test questions and answers during the in-class lectures and offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Some of the lectures are lengthy, but she makes it very interesting and throws in jokes.

I took her intro class online and it was an easy A so I decided to take her upper division class as well and it was easy. She basically lectures all class long but some days she will throw an assignment in that's due at the end of class so be careful. Her class was one of the least stressful classes I have yet to take. This class is an easy A GE class that you can take. Each week you'll answer a couple of questions from guided learning explorations and take a 15 question quiz which is easy. 3 exams with 100 questions through lockdown browser. NEVER had communication with her and doesn't respond to emails. Take her if you can, 100% recommended.

Her quizzes and exams are easy to answer (just look up the answers in the Geology e-book). This makes her an excellent geology professor!

This class was an easy GE and I definitely recommend her class because the material is presented in a clear and understandable way.

Straight forward online class. A majority of the work is available to do at the beginning, so just finish everything and just wait for the easy exams to come up. Really light class if you just want an A.

The whole class is based off of the chapter quizzes, but DO NOT forget about the Guided Learning Exploration assignments. They can really help or mess up your grade. The only bad thing I can say about her is that she isn't the best at getting back to student emails, but the class is very self explanatory.

Her lectures are based off her slides and adds a lot of personality to them. Funny professor, she definitely made me want to go to class even though I dislike the subject. Chapter quizzes due before each exam block. Do not forget to do the guided learning experience. They're 15% of your grade and is a good cushion if you do not do well on an exam.

Cares deeply about her lectures and the topics she focuses on, allows cheat sheet on exam (which are straight from lecture slides), full credit on homework for completion, very easy teacher while also being very interesting and caring!!

2nd time taking a class with her and still pretty good. Nice and caring professor but can get fairly boring but her stories are always nice! lecture heavy, but she posts the slides on canvas. 2 Exams which she provides you with sheet to use during the exams. 1 group project that's due at the end of the semester and had to present to the class.

Prof. Savage's class is a straightforward GE with clear grading and minimal work. While not the most engaging, it's easy to do well with the textbook and unstuckstudy. Recommended for those looking for a simple credit.

I liked Professor Savage! The class was decent and I don't like any kind of science so I guess that's saying something. Don't forget the guided learning assignments or whatever cause I had to do all of them at the end of the semester lol. Tests were on paper but could use one notecard of notes, and its not too bad if you study :)

Prof. Savage's online class was very straightforward. Not engaging and there is no zoom meeting. Instruction's and grading criteria were pretty clear. I recommend taking her class if you are looking for a simple credit.

Professor Savage is an excellent professor. Her class was fully online and the syllabus explained everything even before assignments were posted. There are weekly quizzes which are based on the textbook as well as guided learning explorations which you can complete ahead of time online. The people giving her bad reviews did not read the syllabus.

Prof Savage is amazing! She really cares about the material she presents. The class is lecture heavy but you can skip it and look at the slides she has uploaded. All of the tests are based on the homework and lectures she has but she also lets you have a cheat sheet for tests! Even if you somehow do bad she gives you a curve in case.

One of the best professors I ever had. She is caring and one of the most educated teachers. I'm happy that I took her class

Lectures every class, but she's very passionate about the material. There's a decent amount of homework for each chapter, but it's pretty easy. Two tests, required "cheat" sheets, and one final group presentation.

The class wasn't hard but the tests were so annoying to do. They were each 100 questions with lockdown browser. There is also a lot of busy work in the online textbook that she gives. But this is still prob the easiest class for the GE B1 physical science req

Not much of a hard class. It's an online class that contains quizzes and exams. Read the lectures and you'll do fine on quizzes and exams. The professor is quite helpful.

Took it asynchronously, professor was easy to reach out to, only got a C because there are quizzes every week, which I did, but there are also assignments on a website that you have to do, which I didn't realize until 2 days before the semester ended, as she didn't grade those until the end of the year. No fault of her own, really cool professor!

OMG.... Karen Savage has the biggest heart. She is my favorite professor. Very passionate about the subject, but not in a way that is reflected in your workload. She is very thoughtful and easy-going. Easiest A I've ever gotten, but I've learned so much! Science has always been my worst subject, so if you SUCK at sciences, please take this course.

Such a sweet lady. She loves to talk about geology, and sadly my class is very quiet so sometimes she gets frustrated with lack of participation. Her tests are very easy if you study the material, it is MANDATORY to have a cheat sheet for her tests so she encourages better studying. Take her and talk to her!
