Boring class. great teacher. took the internet section and it was a breeze.. just get the online (easy) assignments done and an A is guaranteed. tests are fairly simple.
Easy, but boring. She tells you about 95% of what will be on the test. She also gives you 3 relatively easy projects.
I took the internet-based version and it was easy but I learned a lot. My biggest suggestion is to save your weekly assignments on Word. This made the test reviews so easy and quick to fill out, so I had more time for studying.
One of the easy professor in the UTA. Not needed to go to class. She is fairly easy.
Really easy. She pretty much gives you definitions of words during lecture. Before the test, she gives you a review sheet that has the words you need to know. Just memorize those and you'll make an A on tests. There are also 4 lab projects that are long and tedious but doable.
Definitely the best INSY teacher. She's smart and really helpful. The subject matter is boring but it's an easy class. Probably 3/4 of the tests are just definitions. She helps you with the labs if you need it. There are 3 tests and a final and 4 labs. Definitely recommend taking her. She's also incredibly attractive so enjoy the view.
Very nice instructor. She is helpful and answers questions about lab and anything else. Tests are multiple choice so that helps. As long as you study the definitions and show up, you will do well! Take her!
Great professor, material is boring but she makes it as interesting as possible. All tests are on Blackboard, very easy if you read the book. Labs are also very easy. She shows a few videos here and there. I would definitely recommend her! Very easy A!
I took her online! And it worked out great! Easy quizzes every friday, and the tests are straight from the book. Recommend if you want something easy online.
Complete the tests review with detail and you will do good on the tests. Do not put off the labs. The further you are in the semester, the longer the labs get. The labs are boring, but easy to pass and usually to get an A on as well.
She is very nice and helpful. Lectures are super boring because she basically reads the dictionary, but everything is covered. She does about 5 easy projects and 3 m/c exams, but overall it is simple and clear. Great professor, take her!
I enrolled in an online section. She was helpful and communicated well with the class. Review sheets were given for the weekly quizzes, exams, and the final. Labs were fine just don't procrastinate. Take advantage of the review sheets and you WILL pass. I wish she taught some of my other classes.
Very pleased with this class. Learned a lot about SAP.
I took this class online. There are 4 exams, 4 labs, and a couple quizzes. All the quizzes and exams are taken on blackboard. The class is easy but rather tedious.
I enjoyed having her as a professor even though I took it online. I had a question about one of the labs, and she replied within the hour with screenshots of how to do my problem! This made me believe that she's very caring for her students and wants them to understand the subject. Her class is online so it requires more work than in-class lectures
The work is not difficult as long as you make sure to read. Very reasonable work load, only chapter assessments once a week with 4 labs and tests. The teacher is great and very good at responding to questions. Recommended.
Easy A if you keep up with your assignments. She's incredibly helpful and reminds you when assignments are going to be due soon. There was at least one assignment due every week, but they're easy. I loved this class because of the ease, but the content was boring.
Really helpful professor. Is always there for you.
Can get a B if u read the book and IF u can catch her during her office hours good luck. Only 2 tests and 3 projects with the 1st being a group project and they take alot of time. teaches from the slides boring i didnt need the book i just went over the notes i took over her slides before both test and lazily made a C. May give extra credit
I took this class online and it was fairly easy. There is one assignment a week, sometimes two, but only is she lets a week go by with no assignments. She posts a review for the tests on blackboard, which are very helpful. The textbook is vital to passing the course. She was very good at communicating with the class through e-mail. Labs can be hard
She's not very clear on what she expects. There's only a mid-term and a final. She tries to cram too many chapters into two tests....
She easy in maybe in 2000 level courses but in 3000 level courses, I'd recommend someone else. She was always 10-15 minutes late in a 50 min class. Instructions on projects were very vague, and test reviews did not help at all. Very nice lady and willing to help during office hours. I'd recommend taking Bond over her. GET THE BOOK! Her notes suck!
As a non-major I found the online section of this class to be extremely simple. There is one assignment per week (easy), three exams, four labs which are over: WordExcelPowerpointAccess, and a final exam. All of the exams are multiple choice which is nice. The labs can take a bit of time, esp. if you're not familiar with the newest versions.
Prof. Scott was the professor for my online INSY class. She was always prompt in answering emails when I had questions. You must read the textbook and complete the assignments on your own time if you want to do well. She provides some resources, but the best resource is your book and your brain. Do assignments early so they don't bite you later on.
Very easy class. You don't need the book, just follow along with her lecture. Really simple SQL. Tests were from book.
Hybrid class. All exams you had to do online at school except the last one. The last one you could do online @ home. Exams were tough. The group project saved my grade the most. Too bad you can't pick the people because it's an online class. The quizzes weren't hard just use the book. She is very busy so meeting with her was tough.
She made everything more difficult than it needed to be. Exams were always different than her 'reviews.' Class consistent of her reading powerpoint bullets and having students fill in the information. This class is not difficult but she only has two exams and tries to fit everything in it. No actual testbook only a novel. Wouldn't recommend.
I took her online for INSY. It was an easy A. I definatly recommend her. All her quizzes are online and aren't timed. You have a week to do them. She gives spot on reviews for her online tests. As long as you don't miss anything you'll make an easy A.
The chapter assessments are easy, but exams can be a bit tough. If you are not familiar with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access the four labs could take hours to complete so try to get them done when they're posted.
The whole class was online, except for the exams, which is not fair! The exams are tough! Looking at the fact that she doesn't lecture. There is a group project in this class, which is stupid because nobody knows anyone in the class, unless you're taking more than one class with people. It is a lot of work, but is only worth 15% .
Easy enough, but requires a little effort to get an A. Esp with the labs...1st 3 (Word, PPT, Excel) are easy but will still suck bc they're so long/tedious. HATED the last lab (Access) bc I wasn't familiar like with the 1st 3 programs. Other than that, quizzes+exams are REALLY detail-oriented but doable IF you read AND pay attn.
Sometimes really quick at emailing back, sometimes not... 4 sets of quizzes every few days that are tough/detailed but prep you for exams, just be sure to read book. The class itself is super boring so reviews are helpful in outlining important concepts. Even if you're familiar w/Microsoft Office, the 4 SAM labs ARE A PAIN, do them ASAP.
Took this class as an online maymester. It was a lot to do in just two weeks but it wasnt that difficult. The assessments can easily be found on quizlet for free 100s. That said though, she with tests there's no time to look them up so you have to study. Labs are easy but start them early since they are a bit detailed ESPECIALLY Lab 4! Easy A/B
Get ready to teach yourself because you're on your own if you have her as a professor.
Decent prof, pointless IS class. Goes over CIO-aspects of business, which is something MGMT majors should be forced to take to understand IS-side of house. IS majors already take ACCT, FINA, etc to know their importance. Other majors take 'intro to comps' as their INSY class, and think that covers IS? No. Make them take this class instead!
When you sign up for this class you think its going to be a lecture but she makes it into an online class, so you basally teach yourself. You also need to read the whole textbook in order to pass or get a decent grade on exams, and you might still get a C or low B. Labs aren't that bad if you don't leave them to last min especially the access lab.
3rd class with Prof. Scott, same review for all. She's at her worst when she plods through fill-in-the-blank lectures. At her best when she's rushing through them and getting to the point. She works lots of examples in-class to help with homework assignments, but tests focus on minutia and trick questions rather then practical knowledge. Catch-22.
Weekly assignments and labs which is fairly normal for an online class. This class was so easy for me but I have years of IT experience. Could've pulled off an A easily if I had just put forth the effort. Do the assignments and labs and study for the exams and you should be fine. The material is basic level Computer information and easy to learn.
Please whatever you do, Avoid her for INSY 3304. She's really difficult, as there is only one mid term with aprox 8 chapters and then a final which is comprehensive. There are 3 coding projects, one group, and second and third are individual. She makes the class harder than it needs to be, and is SO vague about instructions. Would not recommend.
She is a really nice person and will stay late after class just to help you. We have 3 projects and 2 tests. She goes over each problem on the projects and does examples so we exactly know what to do. Her tests are over a lot of chapters but gives a review and if you come to class, she goes over everything that we need to study for the test.
I took this class online and didnt have any issues. Just be sure to study the assignment questions for the tests.
Very sweet woman. However, her course load is way too much that a person can handle. She has a mid-term, a final, and 3 projects. The first project you do with a group, however the next 2 are by yourself. They are so rigorous I think I cried. I would take another professor if you could. If you care about your grade, take another professor.
Overall a nice professor. We have 3 projects and 2 tests. The tests cover a lot of material, but the projects are weighed more than the tests. I made B'S and C's on her tests and still ended up with an A because of my high project grades. But in order to do good on the projects you have to come to class, otherwise they can get really confusing.
Karen Sarratt Scott-- This Profess is the BEST!!! Professor Scott lesson plan is easy to follow, but I must admit there are "DEADLINES" and must be followed during her lesson plan. I just finished her class this Summer II and I got a "B" in her class. Unlike my other summer class she was wonderful so, Hell YES! I recommend Professor Scott!!****
She's a solid choice for 3304. However the exams are really hard . I would take her again, no doubt!!
I took her class online and it's pretty easy. All unit assignments can be found on quizlets and you can even use the quizlets to study for the exams too. Labs can be kinda time-consuming if you don't know how to use Word, Powerpoint, and Excel so make sure to email her and ask questions but she doesn't seem to be the most responsive either.
Pretty easy course. 3 exams (lockdown webcam) , 3 completion discussion post, and 5 quizzes (open internet/book). Study thoroughly the review terms, quizzes and quizlet for the exams for B or A (no backtrack on exams).
Can't say a whole lot about her as I rarely attended class but the course is easy how she has it set up. Provides a study guide for each exam which is all you need and all the information can be found directly in the ppts she provides. SAM Labs require quite a bit of time but you have 2-4 weeks to complete each one. Lots of EC if you attend class
Graded by a few word, powerpoint, and excel projects. I had someone do my last one for me because it was busy work and excel is hard. The lectures are straight up powerpoints and definitions the whole time. MISERABLE. The tests are hard since she only gives definitions and the questions are in depth. Extra credit for attendance sometimes.
Totally unprepared. Gave quizzes with questions over material she never covered. Typically very bad at responding to emails, it may take weeks to get a response if you get one. Shes often late posting assignments on blackboard. The class was online and half of her links didnt work. Youre constantly left wondering about whats going on in class.
Honestly one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. The prof is super unprepared, you have a quiz each week, and 4 labs which take so much of your time and they get harder as they go. 4 exams 1 cumulative and she doesn't drop one. all exams are webcam required. Wouldnt recommend if you're not an expert in excel.
She is really nice and cares about her students, she'll try to always help in the best way possible. In the projects she gives good guides which helps when you go to class, and takes occasional attendance
The class itself is pretty straightforward just do the work and read the book and youll get an A -quiz every week for every chapter(quizlet) -3 exams, you need to read the book for understanding -final exam cumulative -labs are relatively easy but extensive (be prepared to use MS word, excel,PP,and access) access is the worst btw
Show up in class and do your assignment and you should pass this class easily.
I took her INSY2303 class online, my overall experience with her was decent. Unfortunately, she never answers her emails and student had a hard time reaching out to her. The entire class was also very confused and constantly wondering what was going on. Lastly, her online class consists of 4 labs, weekly quizzes, 3 exams and a final.
She gives out quizzes during lectures, and homework assignments are on a step by step program that walks you through the homework. Only had a couple and she drops lowest. She grades very easily and the textbook is a novel. I would really recommend her, she just responds to emails a little slow
I've taken her several times before for other classes but she does not put as much effort in this class. She posts quizzes late and is never on time. She also doesn't respond back to emails. She doesn't update us on any changes to the syllabus and lets us know last minute. Her tests are also very hard. You need to teach yourself.
Best professor EVER! So glad I was able to take her class. She was not responding to some students emails, but it is only due to a personal family issue that everyone should have respected. She is understanding when it comes to grading and the grades revolve around microsoft projects that are given step by step. Take her if you have the chance!!!!
She makes attendance mandatory whenever she decides it is. She also never answers her emails.
A lot of people hated her bc she had tech issues, but she was super sweet and patient. I recommend doing the labs before the corresponding exams. Textbook doesn't explain things well but doing those labs helps. She's very knowledgeable and will answer any and all questions. Offers extra credit. Would take her again! (would prefer in person)
Professor Scott was a nice person but not a great teacher, she takes forever to respond to emails and her assignments that she posts are very time-consuming. She does give out module type quiz's each week that go over each chapter you cover, those are pretty easy. But her Lab's are SUPER difficult and the test is just over the vocabulary and quiz's
Ridiculously long Microsoft Office projects. 90+ slide PowerPoints for each chapter. Closed note, Lockdown Browser exams with no backtracking. 3 exams and a final that make up 57% of the course grade. She takes forever to answer emails.
She is a great professor! Do not read the bad reviews. Her exams are purely MCQ'S which are pretty easy. 3 projects which i found a bit hard personally but doable. We usually left messages for her on teams so she would reply there easily than emails. All three projects were explained STEP BY STEP and she explains them easily. I recommend her
She's a really cool professor. Not the KAREN u need in life, but the Karen you deserve (if tht makes sense :p ). Lost a bit of marks on the projects but its cool. Easy tests and good extra credit opportunities. Very happy i took her class this semester.
She is a very good teacher. She talks fast during lectures but has a lot of ground to cover. She gives extra credit for various things including attendance. There were 3 projects and I loved them but I am already a coder. If you are brand new, you are going to have to work to understand SQL but that is what college is for.
The only easy part of this class was the labs for me. You basically edit a Word document with specific instructions. The chapters were so BIG though the test contained a lot of material. I dropped this because it wasn't worth the stress of studying that much but I feel like if you try it wouldn't be terrible you could walk away with a low B.
It is basically a vocabulary memorization class. My strategy was to skim the textbook to get a good grade on weekly quizzes then when she uploads the test review go through the textbook and powerpoints to just study those definitions. I wouldn't waste your time taking notes on all of the definitions because she only puts half of them on the review.
This class was easy enough as long as you kept up with the material and studied. 5 open book quizzes, 4 assignments, and 3 tests. She provides a review for each test so you know what to expect. I went through something personal during this course and she was very helpful and considerate. If I could take this class again, I know I could've got an A!
The course I took was 100% online so your experience may be different. The course was very easy to do well in as long as you pay attention on the lecture slides. Quizzes and tests are based on these slides but were basically vocab. tests and quizzes. The labs can be complex at first but trust the instructions and you'll get an A on them. Great pick
Very loaded class. Goes over material she never covered in SAM. Closes her exams at 10PM for some reason, and is very strict on deadlines. Doesnt like to reply to emails and very unempathetic.
Took online. Great professor, very accessible. Lots of homework but manageable. Graded on near-weekly unit assignments, 4 Lab assignments (Word/Excel/PP) which are time consuming, 3 exams and a final. Overall, easy A if you put the work in.
Online was hard. With a ton of stdying and notes for exams. You have an assignment evry week, open note but exams (3) are proctored with camera/lockdown. You also have lab. You edit files like excel, pp, and access. I wouldn't recommend this course unless you have a knowledge of computers/Microsoft or you have time to study and look up videos.
Not great, the exam will be 100 questions for finals and I'm not about it. worth 30% of your total grade
Professor Scott herself is fine, this was an online class so I had little interaction with her, the course itself is very heavy though. Be prepared to read a lot. This course is definitely difficult without prior tech knowledge.
3 projects which will be your primary focus throughout the semester. Apparently she's ramped up the difficulty on tests. 70% MCQ 30% of Written Answers. Review only semi helpful as a general guideline. Majority of class made Cs or Ds on the tests.
All her extra credit is given via attendance for class. The course is fast-paced, but she gives a review before every exam. The review is broad and not all of it will be tested on. Her exams are straightforward with no trick questions. The only negative is she is hard to reach outside of class hours and takes a while to respond to messages.
4th class with Karen Scott. All A's. Take all of her classes if you are an INSY major!! Super easy classes when they are online! If you need her message her on teams she doesnt like to respond to email lol.
Best professor of UTA CSE department. The class, attendance criteria, grading, programming assignments all are very easy. Exams are easy(and mostly same as previous one). You'll get an easy A if you do great in exams & assignments.
she is very sweet, but not very clear on teaching. This was the first class i failed and is extremely difficult. would not recommend taking this course with her unless you have a lot of background w excel.
This class was especially difficult for me. I have background in Microsoft word, excel, access, and PowerPoint, but the labs were still difficult because they were written in a vague way. While the professor is super helpful in answering questions, the labs were the hardest part about this class.
Will randomly give EC, so show up to class. Lectures are essentially the textbook, so it's not the most engaging. Tests are definition-based; know the definition, pros and cons, and uses of XYZ to get good scores. SAM Labs are time-consuming but have nothing to do with the tests. They have 5 attempts, so it's an easy way to boost your grade.
She was a kind professor, she was a little unorganized though. She gave 3 projects and 2 tests plus a final. The projects were a little difficult but she goes trough them with you which was such a blessing! Honestly just pick her brain if your confused it was the only thing that heleped. Her exams are a little tough, just study the reviews!!!
This class is extremely difficult for a beginner class. She is inaccessible, I have emailed her multiple times and she will choose not to respond even though I am asking her for help on her assignments. Genuinely the worst class I have taken so far, do not take this class.
I took her class online because some said it was easy, it is not. This class is very difficult in general and it is extremely difficult to get in contact with Professor Scott. She does not reply to emails and she does not empathize with you. She doesn't seem to be understanding or care to work with you.
she's nice ig, but she literally only reads off the slides, and her lectures are so boring. Plus, there's soooo much information/material you have to learn for the exams. Don't take this class unless you have lots of time to actually study and learn the material by yourself. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities tho!
Professor Scott may not be the most organized professors but her classes definitely prepare you for the exams. She is really nice and always happy to help with any question you have. She also does not take attendance but offers extra credit on random days.
If you do not have experience with excel do not take this class. This is the most difficult class I have ever taken and this professor is so hard to get in touch with. This is the lowest grade I have ever received in a class. If you can take someone else do it.
literally the easiest class. due to a curve, i got an a. the sam labs are easy enough, the access one is the hardest, it is the last one. idk why people are saying that she sucks. there are quizlet reviews made by ppl that are the same as her reviews. reviewing the quizzes and the quizlets is all you need; she offers extra credit. she was great !
Professor Scott was awesome during the accelerated course! Not sure why everyone said she sucks, etc., She allows you to complete assignments ahead of time minus tests. The labs are super easy minus Access and she gives you up to 5 tries for the highest grade. If you study her review and quizzes the tests are easy. She also offered extra credit!
Professor was very transparent about what was the expectation of this class, and what assignments were due, and the online class was well organized so the class wasn't too hard. Recommend signing up for her class.
Had her for the online asynchronous course. She was very delayed in posting the recorded lectures, which was annoying sometimes. But she is very nice and very easy to get in contact with. Tests use lockdown browser and course material requires Microsoft office.
Reviews are provided for 4 exams, including a cumulative final. 2 Part SAM projects for every Office application, with five attempts per part. Provided extra credit opportunities during the semester. Professor was available by email and after class to answer questions. Had trouble keeping up with professor's pace during lecture.
the reason why i give her such bad rate it is because the Sam project we barely have any help at all
I took her for Wintermester at UTA (4 weeks). If you're not familiar with Microsoft Office Applications, you might struggle. She had 4 exams (I managed to cram each one and got a B on all of them), easy quizzes, and 10 SAM projects in total. For Wintermester, she dropped your lowest Sam App (Word, Excel). Wasn't the worse, but wasn't the best :)
She is a good teacher, explain clear and review for exam. Pay attention into review for exam and practice SQL (some questions about code SQL) so you will be good. 2 exams, 1 final, 3 projects (SQL), quiz online (EASY), no attendance required, but somedays take attendance for extra credit, it helps a lot for final grade. Take her.
For the online version of INSY 2303, Professor Scott's course is one of the most straightforward classes I have taken. No tricks, no unclear rules or policies in the syllabus, and she organizes class sessions to help with the labs. If you put some fair effort in, it's not hard to make at least a B.
Interesting lectures, dedicated to helping students learn the subject. Reachable via email and office hours. Multiple chances to earn extra credit. Because projects are challenging, start early. 2 midterms & a comprehensive final. Provides reviews for each, study the topics mentioned using the text and class notes. Highly recommend!
She hides your grade the entire semester so you don't know where you're at unless you manually calculate your grade. The lectures are multiple parts and all very long, mostly definitions.
The class is well-organized, with various assessment methods like exams, SAM projects, and extra credit opportunities. The professor is available for questions, though the pace can be challenging. Unstuck study proved helpful for exam prep alongside other study tools.
Professor Karen Scott is amazing, very organized and provides clear instructions on all the assignments. She is caring and will work with students if they have any questions. Definitely take her!! She gives extra credit sometimes (occasionally announces) and her projects are recorded so you can view at your own pace and work on them.
Great instructor, super responsive and enjoys teaching. 3 assignments with plenty of time to work on them, plus quizzes that help lock in the material. Assignments were fun and offered chance to practice skills using HTML and Tableau. Online exams are tough (closed-book/notes), but reviews help. Staying on top of the textbook is useful.
Only has powerpoints no lectures for online class, you don't know your grade till the end??, I have taken her before and never again after this class. The tests are hard compaired to the material given.
Scott provides video lectures and power points to cover material. There are 3 exams that mostly cover definitions or basic knowledge of the subjects and a quiz due every week. The SAM lab assignments are tricky but that those are the only thing that's difficult. I really dont like how you cant see your grade until the end of the semester.
