Karen was interesting and funny and used personal stories to make the information more realistic to students.

She is a great professor.She responds to her emails quickly, and she makes class very interesting by using examples from real life situations. The exams are kind of difficult but totally passable. Quiz every week(should read text), a group project, and a paper due, but the assignments are actually fun! Would definitely take her again.

Very interesting class. Uses the new DSM 5 diagnosis and codes, therefore, a lot of the prior diagnosis es have been split up into categories or no longer exist. Mrs. Snell also works with patients that have mental disabilities so she is very knowledgable about the field and vey helpful. I would take another class with her.

Our grades were based on weekly quizzes, a few homework assignments, a midterm and a final, and a group presentation. We were also given some extra credit opportunities which were super easy. Professor Snell has a great personality and made the class interesting. I would recommend taking her.

The class was fairly easy, I recommend keeping up with the readings as there are weekly quizzes. Notes are a little difficult to take in class so always remember to read before attending lecture. Overall class was fun and Karen is a great teacher.

She's not picky re: the format of papers, but make sure there are no grammar and spelling mistakes - as always, of course! Great class, highly recommend.

She gives out lots of e.c. which helps a lot since her midterm was hard but it was online so we were able to use any sources.

Taking notes is difficult because she can go fast at times but the textbook is very detailed and has all the information in there. Buy the text it is interesting to read! The class isn't hard, just put in the work and you'll do fine!

Mrs. Snell makes this class fun and interesting. She does push you to know the material and there is a lot of reading but her lectures are great. She has two test mid term and final. This means the test cover many chapters which does make them hard. Overall this teacher is a good one to take.

In all honestly I really enjoyed this class.Every class session we had a small quiz and I loved the way we took them as a class! The way she explains the material were very easy to process. The only thing that was hard for me was the time limit on our mid-term online. Her PowerPoints are very beneficial. I learned a lot in the class. Thank you:)

Wasn't too sure what to expect from this class going in, but material is actually very interesting (I'm not a a psychology major either). Professor is very helpful, quizzes in class help review material last covered. Midterm was online. She is an extremely "chill" professor, but still very professional.

Best professor I have honestly ever had. She is always up to date with current news and everything she has to say is interesting. It almost doesn't even feel like a class because it is so laid back, but you learn so much because snell knows what she is talking about. Would recommend this class to everyone!

I loved this class and Mrs Snell was great. She was funny and easy going. Her lectures were clear and she answered all the questions we had throughout. We played jeopardy on the material covered. It is difficult to sum all the amazing qualities of Karen Snell in just 3 tags. Mrs. Snell is incredibly intelligent with a great gift of patience and understanding. She is there for you to answer any questions you may have. Her lectures are impeccable, filled with current events and up to date issues are relevant to the topic, lecture or chapter.

Only two exams, two papers (one requires reading a book but it's a great read), and a group project. Her lectures are to the point and she summarizes the book's material very well. Her tests are kind of different from what she lectures so be sure to read the chapters.

There is a lot of role playing in this class done in partners. Homework assignment due every class, which is a summary of the chapter. As long as you do it you get credit, write at least half to a full page. A midterm & a final. You need the book to do summaries & activities she assigns. Due the work & you'll be fine!

I loved her class! She was very encouraging and made me realize my potential in becoming a counselor. Her personal experience was very helpful as well. There is a significant amount of work that you need to pass but as long as you follow her directions and do your work you will be fine! Go to class to pass tests. Take her you wont regret it!

This online course was very easy and the book was interesting. Having homework due every Wednesday was nice cause you never get behind. Only 3 quizzes that are open note/book and one 2-3 page paper. Definitely recommend this online course.

Very easy online class. Snell made this class very interesting and made me even think about specializing in something like abnormal psych. My only regret is not taking the class in person, I feel like I would've learned more. Will be taking this professor for another class next semester because I liked her so much.

She is such an amazing professor! I've never felt so invested in a class like this before, and I really feel like I've learned so much! Grade is made up of 4 exams, and an optional final. There's 2 pop quizzes that can only help you grade. She has you bring the notes to class and follow along. I bought a PDF of the DSM5, but I never used it.

I took this prof 3 times! She is an amazing person and professor. Just be ready to read and join in discussions in class.

Took counseling techniques with her and it was an interesting class. We had to partner up and do mock counseling sessions which were fun. Only 2 exams and papers which she is pretty lenient with. There is a weekly chapter summary that is due, but it doesn't have much work to it. Overall it's an easy class.

We also had to turn in a weekly chapter summary so attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade. She's an amazing professor that I learned a lot from and she's incredibly funny. The course is on the Psychology of Women (online). The textbook was required to complete assignments and quizzes per chapter, as well as 2 response papers. The assignments were easy, but time-consuming. You get a week to finish it. Full credit is given as long as assignments are completed thoroughly; extra credit was not offered.

Love love love this professor. Her discussions are actually interesting and inspire critical thinking rather than just repeating information. She does require an access code but it includes the textbook and the program is good. She responds quickly to emails and offers a lot of extra credit. Definitely taking her again.

I really enjoyed this class and professor. For each chapter, HW includes answering multiple choice questions, 1 discussion prompt, and a clinical application where you assess clients as a psychologist. Very cool class, wish I could've taken it in person. 1 (2-3 page) paper due on an interesting subject. Tests not cumulative.

Great professor! I thoroughly enjoyed her class. Due to the pandemic, the class ended up being online and so she did have to change her format, but I think it went really well! We used zoom for the breakout rooms and would practice role-playing as the clinician and client with other students. I highly recommend! She is very down to earth!

This has to be one of the best classes here at Stan. Professor Snell is very knowledgeable. Read the chapters and watch her lectures, you'll be good. The chapters are a lot of info, but suuuper interesting! The only thing I didn't like was the 10 min for 10 question quizzes. I truly learned so much from this class and genuinely loved it!

I'm a straight A student and I am struggling to hit that 90% mark. Lot's of reading and lectures (that are amazing). I learned so much, but the tests/quizzes are HARD to get A's on. Two essay hw reflections 2/3 pages. 1 personal reflection essay 5 pages. Midterm and Final, along with 1 discussion per week. It's a challenging class but doable.

Professor Snell is a great professor. This class was super interesting. We had 1-2 discussion(s) each week and 4 tests total. There is a 2 part case study on a film that has 2 different essay parts. This is the hardest assignment but it really is not that bad.

Her Counseling Techniques class in person is amazing. Be on time to her class, ask questions, and do your assignments and you'll be fine. One chapter activity each week, and we do role plays! If you are planning in being a therapist, this class is it. She is very organized and gives great feedback, and her lectures are very interesting.

I was a little intimidated when taking this class from her expectations. She pays attention to what you write. Consist of 4 sectioned chapter quizzes, 14 discussions, documentary reflection paper, and topic case study. Pretty easy class just take notes and read then you will be fine! You watch some documentaries and read articles.

You can tell she's passionate about her beliefs. There are weekly discussion boards and about 4 quizzes. A documentary paper on a film, you get a list to choose from. No late work, you can tell she reads discussion posts + responses. Overall this class made me really sit down and put thought into several topics that need more attention. enjoyed!

She truly loves what she teaches. You do have 1 documentary paper due towards the end of the semester. There were four exams, each worth 66 pts. NO LATE WORK whatsoever, be on time with your work! Her articles/slides were so fun to read; she made class enjoyable, and you got to view from different perspectives.
