Great sense of humor
the BEST professor i had in college
I've had her for 2 courses so far. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is beyond enthusiastic. She is one of the best profs at NU.
She is great, loves the material, very intelligent woman.
you will not fall asleep in Prof. Spikes class, and its spikes, not spike...oh...and she loves chocolate
I heard a lot of good things about her, but when I took her class I found her test questions rather trick like and trivial, her self-concerning and rude, and the woman had the nerve to state that she wouldn't hire a woman with small children! Rude....
Spikes is one of the best profs I've had at NU. You definitely want to take any class she teaches.
she's great, and sometimes drops a test.
Developmental Psych: tests were ridiculously easy. Was a very entertaining professor, one of the best I've had.
Fun, enthusiastic, great lecturer. Encourages participation but won't call on you randomly. Hers was my favorite class--look for her!
Spikes rocks! The class is not difficult, but at the same time, not really lameass. Caffeine and chocolate freak. Tests are easy and she makes sure you are totally prepared. Very funny. All in all, good times
great teacher, goes over exactly what's on the test, curves final grades, very easy class
I've had 3 classes with spikes. She's awesome and her classes are so easy. She is very helpful and is a great lecturer.
She's the best professor I've had so far. She keeps the class interesting and her tests are relatively straightforward. You will actually want to go to class. She has a great sense of humor and an upbeat personality. She gives extra credit too and that it helped my average a lot. Take her class!
She's very energetic and keeps you focused and interested. She gives you outlines so you hardly take notes and tells you exactly what to study. She makes class interesting
awesome teacher.
awsome
Hands out fill in notes for each section and explains exactly what is on every test. Very energetic and keeps you entertained and interested.
I've taken every class she's offered. She's awesome!!! Anyone who can take a class with her, make sure you do it. There aren't too many professors as cool as she is. She swears and everything in class. Always talking about her crazy family...She's just a lot of fun!!!
This is the 2nd class I have taken with her and I plan to take more. She really knows how to teach and this is such an easy class. She gives a lot of extra credit. People who don't like her just aren't doing well in her class. If you just study the notes, it's really easy. Take her.
Completely incompetant. Her idea of a lecture is read aloud fill-in-the-blank notes. Unwilling to help; during her office hours she complained about my visit. For a class with mostly frosh, she had no idea what we were capable of; assigning difficult research. You'll pass only bc of mindless tests.
It's an easy class if you go. Don't miss her hand outs cuz she won't give you more until test day. Tests are easy. This was my 2nd class with her. She's great

One of the greatest professors in this school -- full of energy. She makes class fun, and she knows what she's doing. Just respect her and she'll bend over backwards for you.
Retard. She may have gotten her degree in Psych, but she received her Masters in diarrhea mouth. She gives you the lecture outlines, which the tests are on. Easy teacher, but not a good one. Hates confrontation. As a biology major who's intersted in Neuroscience, I take offense that a professor such as this has slipped throught the cracks. F-

Horrible. How did this woman get a teaching degree? 1) Her developmental psychology class is more of a How-To Guide to Parenting. She doesn't discuss the material in any sort of scientific light. 2) She is far to easily intiidated by her students. She was ridiculously flustered when 2 people stayed after class to talk with her. 3) She gives you 90% of your notes in a handout and then reads EVERY WORD on the handout back to you. HORRIBLE!
i love her......she is an awesome prof who really has all her material together and organized. doesn't test you on random crap like some other psych prof at northeastern
Nice southern lady. Very funny, i love going to her clases. Show up for classes, keep handouts. Fair, easy tests if u study a bit. Makes you want to go to her class. I took her for two classes and i'm taking her for another.
took her developmental psych class last yr and loved the class. easy A. lots of fill-in-the-blank outlined notes. anything on the tests, she's gone over in class and adds a few bonus questions in, too. research project was easy and graded fairly. animated teacher. passionate about subject. go to class, its worth it. take her for yourself and see :)
Very fun and interactive despite going through two foot surgeries.
Very easy class, super nice professor. Someone interesting subject; however, most of the material is common sense. I definitely enjoyed this class though, and the easy A.
Very easy professor. She prints and gives out handouts for all her lectures. Her tests are really easy and she always cuts down the reading to almost none. Very easy going and willing to help.
Her class is ridiculously easy, but she does include questions on that test that she expects you to read from the book the night before (the only time you use it) and has never discussed in class. She can also be pretty disrespectful...she's funny, but sometimes you really want to **** her out.
I didn't buy the book or study and made an A. She doesn't seem to be very bright at all and is condescending to anyone who provokes a subject beyond the text. I many times believed that she didn't know what she was talking about and became extremely confused and aggravated when questioned. If you know how to read you're qualified for her position.
I really enjoyed this class. As long as you show up to class and fill in the outlined notes, the tests will be pretty easy and straightforward. She is a good teacher and she is pretty amusing.
This woman has no place in the classroom. She is meant for the business world and should have stayed there. Her classes consist of handing out an outline and then reading it to you and filling in some trivia she brings up. Unwilling to help you with office hours or missed tests, her time is too valuable....
Great prof with an easy-going/humorous personality. Her lectures are interesting, extremely helpful notes. I've really learned a lot from her. Pay attention in class and use her notes, sometimes the textbook to help you understand the materials, and you'll do well on exams!
Best professor for PSY U101. This was my third time taking this course and she is better than both of the other professors (Snyder, and a guest professor). Attend all classes, follow along with her outlines, and interact to get an easy A+.
Excellent!
She was an awesome professor. The class wasn't boring which might have had to do with taking it during the summer. Grading system is set up in a way where you can easily get an A. 2 writing assignments and 2 tests. Definitely take here for Intro to Psychology.
Professor Spikes is probably one of the greatest teachers' i've had, no BS. She gives type written handouts and prepares you very well for her exams. Btw there is no midterm/final. I dont consider it an easy class, you do have to put effort into taking notes and understanding the material. I'm definitely taking her Social Psych class next semester.
I disagree with the comment below me. Spikes is an incredible teacher. I have her for Developmental right now and I've learned so much about the subject. She's funny, keeps the class alive and appreciates our opinions. There's only 3 exams, no midterm or final. Notes are type written for you and she gives extra credit at the end. She's awesome.
Just completed my second class with Professor Spikes and I would definitely take more if I could. I completely disagree that she is not a "real" professor. She's very knowledgeable of the subjects and integrates learning into a more relaxed and interesting environment. I've definitely learned more in her classes than in some boring lectures.
Spikes is awesome. She tells you everything you need to know for the exams and tells you what to avoid studying. She's from the south and jokes around a lot in class. She's a riot. Take her class.
This is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my entire life. She teaches well, gives you typed notes, she is hilarious and class is very interesting. Class is not easy and you do have to try to get an A. She is very clear and prepares you very well for the test. You will leave this class with the knowledge necessary to be an amazing parent.
Interesting class and very easy, but she is so unorganized it's really frustrating. She just expected that we didn't do our homework every time she assigned something! You can tell being a professor is far from her main priority.
Incompetent. Doesn't seem to have any knowledge of the subject despite having a PhD. Can't answer questions without getting confused and frustrated.
Fantastic professor. Best teacher i've had at NU. this is a good class, she types up the notes for you, tells you ahead of time what is on tests and what reading needs to be done specifically. great teacher, knows her stuff keeps you listening!
This class is offensively bad. If you have ever been unprepared for a presentation and figured you would just B.S. through it with the little knowledge you have, you know what Karen Spikes feels like every day. All she does is read off of a packet, even then she doesn't seem to know what is happening. Horribly ambiguous test questions as well.
I just finished my 3rd course with her and she is awesome! If you go to class and take notes on the outlines she gives you it is hard to not get an A. She keeps you entertained and engaged in lectures.
She's so amusing, and making class fun. Her psych 101 class is hysterical. I never opened the textbook once. Just memorize the study guides thoroughly and you'll get an A. The tests are T/F and multiple choice. She legitimately will tell you what's on the test a few days before. I feel like most of the material is common sense.
Knows material well, but does not come to class prepared to teach it. She's absurdly offensive and inappropriate sometimes to the point where you may want to just walk out of the class. The class was essentially common sense and not in any way intellectually challenging. Try to take it with someone else if at all possible.
Interesting class. Spikes keeps class fun and the tests are very straight forward.
This class is seriously the biggest waste of my money and time. Karen is a HORRIBLE teacher and does not challenge you what so ever. If you like to just pay for a degree and not actually learn maybe this class is for you. She is super offensive and makes you watch terrible emotional movies with little application. What a WASTE!
The class is very easy. Professor Spikes is fun, and I do not find her offensive at all. If you want to be challenged and learn alot, I would not recommend this class. But if you want a fun and easy class that will get you some credits, this class is great.
I took all of Spike's classes. She hands out study guides, and you just fill in the blanks as she speaks. She's nice, funny, and experienced in the field. If you study you will get an A. but you have to go to class to get the notes.
Great Teacher
I/O Psych. All the notes you need are on the handouts. She's fun and a huge character, but you may learn more from the book. The only reason I didn't have an A was I couldn't get the hang of her tests; most MC only have 2 choices. She likes the "none of the above" answer too.
Don't listen to these negative reviews. If you're laid back and have half a brain you'll love this class. If you require the teachers help for elementry school material then yeah dont take her. Spikes is a good teacher, she may be flighty sometimes but at least shes honest. In class she acts like shes just hanging out with friends.
Professor Spikes teaches Develop., Social, Psych of Women and I/O. I've taken the first 3 and they were 3 of my favorite classes. She makes the material worth learning and her humor adds a lighter mood to the usual boring lectures. Her courses usually has 3 exams, not sure if that's changed. I/O I hear is horrible. Definitely take 1 of her classes!
Social Psych. She's a very kindhearted, intelligent and funny woman....but maybe not the most efficient professor. often gets off topic and wastes a lot of lecture time. she's a very easy professor and a lot of fun otherwise!
Her class is very straightforward - she hands out packets and reads off of them, occasionally filling in a sentence. I hate this style. It feels like I'm in middle school. She is also not very good at answering questions probing further - often either deflecting the question to the class or just repeating the question in her answer.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!!
Took 4 of her classes. Don't take any of them if you are looking for DEEP discussion. HOWEVER - she makes class time effortless and funny and if you're looking for a leisurely 4 credits, take hers. Don't be fooled by her style - you need to study! Nice professor, surface-level information.
I have taken I/O, Develop., Social, & Psych of Women w/ Prof. Spikes. She is an exceptional teacher. Some people complain about her classes being a waste of time or not challenging. But she teaches you to be self disciplined &learn on your own so you can have discussions. I have learned alot from her courses. She is thorough & to the point.
Spikes is a great professor. She's so much fun and always makes class interesting. She provides you with exactly what material you need for the tests and is very clear. She is hilarious and makes every class fun. She tries to get you out early when possible and is real fair in grading. She cares about her students and is a great lady! :)
SPIKES IS AWESOME! I love her class. She makes the material easy to understand and interesting. She's funny & will make you want to go to class. She hands out note packets and tells you what parts of the book to focus on. She cares about her students & is incredibly helpful!
Professor Spikes is awesome! I highly recommend taking her, she really wants you to do well and gives you EXACTLY what you need to study for the tests. Her tests (in Psych of Women anyway)are all multiple choice and not difficult if you read the materials she suggests. Highly recommended, A++++
I received an A in this class, but it was no thanks to Spikes. Plainly put, she is a complete lunatic. Its almost like she hates her students and she treats them like they are worthless. She is just rude and completely unhelpful. I would not take her again.
Prof. Spikes is awesome! She is really helpful and makes the class really interesting. You'll get good grades as long as you go to class, read what she tells you to and review your notes/attend the review session. HIGHLY recommend.
The most inept prof here. Easily intimidated, highly unread on the subject, degrading in her teaching & boring. She plagiarizes the entire course from the book. If you want an easy A & don't mind paying 4k for what is a true insult & disgrace to proper learning, you'll fit right in. For anyone here that seeks the slightest challenge, look elsewhere
Professor Spikes is seemingly impressive. However, if you actually analyze her lecture style, you will realize that she is simply trying to be funny, and not exactly aiming to foster real learning. Initially I felt that her lectures were great, but I realized, that was just due to her southern accent being funny. I would not recommend her class.
I hadKaren Spikes for social psych and she is a wonderful teacher. She is very helpful and hilarious. She gives plenty of extra credit. She is very strict with getting to class on time and she also doesnt like to receive unnecessary emails. I loved her class and I would definitely recommend her.
Spikes should not be anywhere near a classroom. class is funny at times but terribly annoying and frustrating the rest of the time. She does not know her subject, relies on cheat sheets to teach since she doesn't know the material. class is unchallenging, so easy. She does an excellent job at ruining one of the most passionate subjects in psych ...
Easiest class of all time. People who say that they don't like her lecture style are jacked up (as she would say). She knows her information well and knows how to make it interesting. You'll get an A if you take notes (which she makes VERY easy to take). She's a very nice person and I find her hilarious.
Had her for developmental (honors) and social. both classes are easy and have no finals. prof. spikes is also really funny. not exactly the best teacher ever, but she provides lecture outlines that are very relevant to the tests
Spikes tries to be funny and make the class laugh rather than actually teaching. She relies on the lecture outlines completely. I missed a quiz because I couldn't get back into the city after the bombing and she refused to let me make it up and gave me a zero unless I came back in the summer to take it. Easy if you do it exactly her way.
Easy class. Really interesting. She makes it fun. For the exams you just need to study what she tells you to study and you'll be fine.
As long as you come to class every day and pay attention, you'll get an A. She provides lecture notes for each class, where you just fill out everything while she's talking. For the exam, she tells you exactly what will be on the exam and what specific numbers and figures you need to know. Professor Spikes is super enthusiastic and friendly as well
Come to class and take notes, because the tests are based on lectures. She is entertaining and funny, and her information is pretty straight forward. However, I felt that the class lacked depth; that dampened my interest in psychology. Also, the poor wording on the quizzes made it difficult for me to predict my grade despite studying well.
Come to class and take notes because exams are lecture-based. She's a very entertaining person, but the class lacked depth and inspiration. She would hand us all of the information and explain things with silly examples... And yet I couldn't expect an A because the quizzes were so poorly worded! Really dampened my interest in psychology.
Lectures were way too long considering Prof Spikes just reads off of a lecture outline. If you ask a question she'll reword your question for an answer. Doesn't use power points, and the humor gets really old and distracting. Studied for 40 minutes before each exam and didn't go to class, passed. Super easy. She's nice, it's just a weird atmosphere
Really funny, down to earth professor. You must attend lectures if you want to pass the tests at all since all the tests are based directly off the notes from lectures.
She gives really helpful lecture outlines, which is all she grades on, so you don't really need the book.
Shes really nice&funny. She has already made the outline for you and you just need to go to class and fill them out as shes talking. WARNING! Write notes down word for word, on the test shell use what she said on the outline, and in order to get full credit on the test try write things as SHE said them.
I loved Professor Spikes! My favorite professor. I have her for two of my Psychology Classes back to back and I never get bored. She is funny and makes the class enjoyable. She also lets everyone share their opinion and very open to questions. Her lecture outlines are so helpful and write word to word of what she says. Tests are easy as well!
Professor Spikes is infectiously enthusiastic about the material she teaches. The lecture outlines make it so much easier to take notes and know what's important to learn, although she doesn't post study guides. Tests can be tricky, but she throws out questions that most students get wrong and grades the article critiques generously.
Karen is a wonderful professor. Despite the fact she doesn't provide visuals, her note outlines are VERY helpful! If you write down everything she says verbatim you will do really well on the exams (or if you get notes from a classmate who does this you'll be fine). Don't show up 10 minutes late to class if you do come - she WILL call you out.
She is really funny but sometimes she talks too much
This entire course was sporadic, scatter brained & poorly outlined. The students often had no bearing of the material that would be on the exam between required readings and lectures. In addition Spikes is under informed and often rants about topics she is neither qualified nor entitled to discuss. Poorly taught and Spikes is crass & riding tenure
She is hilarious and she gives a lot of extra credit. I really enjoy her lectures, however, you do have to read a lot to get a good grade on the tests.
I have learned NOTHING in Psychology of Women. She gathers her "lectures" 100% out of the textbook, and doesn't provide anything deeper than the surface level knowledge. Her tests are poorly worded. On our test, the majority of the students got many questions wrong because the answer was simply wrong, but she refuses to admit that she's wrong.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. This class was extremely disorganized. Often sent multiple emails in a row changing course content. The tests were not at all what I was expecting and I felt unprepared based off the lectures. I had to teach myself all the information using the textbook and whatever random notes she gave us in class.
Professor Spikes is probably the worst teacher I've ever had. She knows nothing about the material she's teaching. She simply reads off the powerpoint slides and if you ask her a question about the material, she'll deflect it because she doesn't know anything about Social Psych. The only way you'll learn anything is by reading the textbook.
Horrible speaker. You might not think this matters, but her inability to speak her thoughts coherently makes her lectures not make sense. She just rambles on out of order or just reads off of her powerpoints. If you ask a question, she will just say "it's in your textbook". Her powerpoints are vague and confusing. You have to rely on the book.
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. Professor Spikes is genuinely nice teacher who cares about the material she is teaching. She also really wants her students to learn and is very understanding. She is flexible and will work with you to make sure that you do well in her class and enjoy the material.
Prof. Spikes is hilarious and keeps class interesting. She genuinely cares about her students and the course material.
Professor Spikes is absolutely hilarious. However, her lectures are often disorganized and go off-topic. Her tests are based on class material, so make sure to show up to class. She also gives out a lot of extra credit, so show up for that too. You don't need to read the textbook to get an A, but you should skim through it for the take-home tests.
Professor Spikes is the WORST professor at northeastern. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She goes off track, doesn't know anything about social psychology, literally reads off her powerpoints and takes FORVER to read. Her lectures were up to 3 hours and she explained NOTHING. I had to teach myself with the textbook. WORST PROF EVER.
Presentation heavy, need to take good notes on lectures to pass. She talks very slow and is off topic a lot. But taking notes is important because there is some info that is important. Strict and not considerate of any circumstances if anything is late (gives 0) or if something has happened. Exams are on weekends and only have 4 things graded.
She was so disorganized and offputting. I went into it really interested to learn about social psych and by the end of the semester, I was mostly frustrated and disappointed. Sorry, but it's time to put her out to pasture.
I won't recommend this professor. The course itself is so interesting; however, the way that she lectures is impossible. She once told us in class "my lectures are just an addition to the book" and, honestly, it explains everything. We are paying so much for tuition, and then it turns out that you have to study just with the book that you paid for.
Grade will be 80% based on exams that are exclusively on textbook information. Get ready to know the ins and outs of every line in the textbook. Lectures are irrelevant information not used for testing. Very disorganized and does not make time for extra help or discussion. She will assign projects very late and blames students for her mistakes.
By far the worst professor I have had at Northeastern. She is very disorganized and always makes mistakes in her slides and exam questions. This class was way more stressful than it had to be, given that the material is pretty easy. You just never know what is right or wrong since she contradicts herself all the time.
Super disorganized professor, only replies to students that act like they enjoy the class, does not put effort into any lectures, does not listen to feedback, rude to students that don't say her class is the best class they have taken, syllabus did not include important days and gives out random assignments. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Dont t i repeat dont take her class if you dont have to. Social psych is a great class but the way she teaches it is absolutely unbearable. She rambles a lot and cannot convey the information in a precise way which makes it impossible to pay attention.
Professor Spikes is so funny and chill! She does go off topic sometimes to talk about family, but she still manages to stick to her agenda. Her quizzes are mainly on topics discussed in class and are based on critical thinking, but as long as you attend and take notes, its not too bad.
She carries a charismatic and uplifting attitude into class. Most of her lectures are causal and loose, but she sticks to her agenda in the end. Also, her lectures involve a very in-depth understanding of the science of Social Psychology from both a theoretical and application perspective. The quizzes involve critical thinking so pay attention.
Professor Spikes is all over the place. Every class session starts late due to her having technical issues. Exams are really easy and open-book.
Spikes was energetic and made it clear that she was excited to teach the subject every class. Tests could be confusing because they could be worded weirdly or contain really specific details from the book. However, she was usually open to extra credit, rewording questions, and working with students 1:1. She definitely cares about her students.
She has zero consistency in anything that she does. Test questions are poorly written and open ended assignments are graded on imaginary criteria.
She is a hilarious professor, but her personality does not make up for her poorly worded exams, inconsistent grading, and random assignments. She gives many chances for extra credit, partial credit back, and office hours, but we should not have to rely on these things to bring our grades up when she can word the questions properly from the start.
She is caring but her grading is completely unfair and I feel like she picks grades out of a hat. I got depressed.
Possibly the worst professor I've ever had, including elementary, middle, and high school. Incoherent speaker, contradicts herself constantly. Lectures are legit all over the place. Every test she gives she messes up on at least two questions, then blames "technology" for her mistakes. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
- Inconsistent with textbook and lectures - Questions on the tests are worded VERY poorly and if you ask why, she gets upset/rude - Textbook reading every week is heavy, tests don't line up with textbook
In her online classes, she does not record her lectures so make sure you are paying attention. Even though her tests are open notes, her power-point slides do not have all the information you need. She was very sweet to my class and would go over the tests if there was any confusion and would even give us points back. I loved having her!
Nice person. Easy grader. But man oh man did she pick the wrong profession. She is just bad at explaining concepts, no other way to say it. If you want to actually learn more abt the concept she is teaching, avoid her. If you want an easy A, take her class.
She has serious pauses in lectures and sometimes students ask questions and she gives very vague answers. Her ppt is always missing important information. The course grade includes three tests and one assignment. The test time is unreasonable. There is no extra credit, and the final grade is determined by test. If you want an A, avoid her!
Professor Spikes is funny and will provide lots of examples for concepts - very helpful. She will also give back points on quiz questions that most of the class gets wrong - also helpful. Her class only had three tests and two assignments without extra credit, so there's that. However, if you attend lectures and take notes you'll be just fine.
Questions on the tests are worded VERY poorly and make no sense. Inconsistent with textbook and lectures. Lectures are all over the place and hard to follow.
THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! SHE IS SO RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. Literally so rude and refuses to meet with people if they have questions. She is mean and not accommodating. I email her asking for help and she basically tells me to figure it out. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She has no idea what she is doing. Her whole class is based on tests. And the questions on the tests are so poorly worded that it is almost impossible to do well. SHE IS SO UNHELPFUL! She doesn't care about her students at all and is an INCREDIBLY TOUGH GRADER! She is trying to make you fail. Worst teacher I have ever had.
worst prof ive ever had. extremely difficult to understand in lectures and on assignment details. Will take off so many points without explanation and will ignore you if you ask for clarification.
Professor Spikes presents herself as approachable and kind when in reality she is the opposite. Her tests are worded poorly, her lectures are rambling, information is out of date, and "office hours" feel more like an interrogation. A single small mistake can result in you failing an assignment. If you want to learn, don't take her class.
The questions on her exams are poorly worded and oddly very detailed so while the class itself isn't hard, the exams are. When we review exams after we take them, she's always so weirdly defensive and blaming others..? Like other people said, she presents herself as understanding and nice when she really isn't. This class felt like a waste.
Professor Spikes is a good professor. She gives good lectures, and exams are online and open notes. Still, she can be confusing at times, and exams are weirdly worded. She seems passionate about her job but can be too much at times. Still, it was a very easy class.
Really enjoyed this class
Prof. Spikes is the worse professor in the psych department. Not at all understanding. Attendance mandatory, doesn't record lectures and doesn't complete information on slides to make sure people attend. Her testing questions make no sense, and is anal about submission deadlines; does not accept late work, couldn't care for your reason on lateness.
This was one of my favorite classes to attend. She provides plenty of extra credit opportunities, writing assignments are graded super fairly (just put in effort), and test questions come directly from the lecture and the book. Attendance is the most important part of this class - the rest will come easily! She is super kind and accessible as well!
Professor Spikes is an amazing professor and is passionate about what she teaches. The most important part of doing well in her class is going to lectures. Her slides are great but she leaves blanks purposefully on them that get filled in with what she says in class. I am definitely going to take another class with her this year.
I never went to class and got an A+! Interesting lectures from when I did go and the quizzes/tests were based on what she said in lecture so make sure to go sometimes! She gives tons of extra credit!! Great professor, relatively easy class!
This is a pretty easy class. Professor Spikes is organized, lenient, and luvs using her daughter as examples (srry if I spelled that wrong). Lovely person who gives out online open note quizzes which u can take at home. Assignments aren't even that difficult, just some SAR to the video she makes you watch. There's also no final exam for this class.
Attendance wont affect grade but i said yes cuz she leaves the notes empty so you gotta show or you wont know whats going on. The textbook helps but it isn't vital to what she has on exams, the notes are. Unsympathetic tho, I missed an exam as i was in sick and she didn't let me make it up till i fought her on it for a week. I had a hospital note
Professor Spikes is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher. The class was very lecture based with online/open-note quizzes and tests. Attendance is important because there are parts of the slides that can only be filled in by what she says in class. She also offered a lot of extra credit and bonus points which was nice.
Tests are basically only on her lectures and you can't find the notes outside of class. Besides that, there were 2 exams and 2 quizzes all online, 3 applied learning assignments, extra credit, and no final exam. Not too hard, just annoying when you miss class. I'd take her again just because the class will be better now that I know how she operates
she's great at keeping you engaged in class but sometimes lectures can get carried away. I didn't show up to 2 classes and fell extremely behind. Tests and quizzes are all online but solely on the content she says in class (no on the lecture slides), so you have to show up. Gave easy extra credit and little homework, and one presentation.
I loved having professor Spikes for social psych. She is ready for class every single day and is very personable and very enthusiastic about what she teaches and applies it to real world situations she has experienced. Attendance isn't mandatory but the slides only give you so much information so it's vital you go to class. Tests are also open note
Enthusiastic about the topic and cares about the class. Leaves blanks on the slides so going to lecture is necessary to complete her open note tests. Assignments were easy but since she creates her own questions they are sometimes worded weirdly. She takes a while to grade but is overall a good professor.
Easy A. All of her tests and quizzes are online and take home.Lecture slides are incomplete so you MUST attend class and take notes because her exams are based off lecture and the textbook. You don't really have to do the chapter readings because exams are open note/book. She does play a lot with the wording in her exams. Exams are multiple choice
Professor Spikes is a knowledgeable but polarizing instructor. While her lectures are engaging, the exams are notoriously difficult and she can be unsympathetic. Attendance is vital, and Unstuckstudy proved helpful for exam prep.
Professor Spikes is a great professor, super engaging, a truly caring individual, and very knowledgable about social psych. Attendance isn't mandatory but she leaves blanks on the slides so it's in your best interest to attend and take good notes. All exams and assignments are online, take-home, and not too difficult, I enjoyed this class a lot!
Professor Spikes was overall a very engaging professor. She kept going in circles and re-explaining the same topic repeatedly, until you absolutely lose track of what she was saying. That being said however, she cares about her students and has a lot of different projects and extra credit opportunities. Tests are async and open book and open note.
Epitome of a hot mess - both her and the course. It's a crazy ride through the semester. Lack of teaching efficiently is made up for by extra credit so minimum win?
This was my 2nd class with Spikes and she's amazing, the class is based on a group project you complete throughout the semester and all of the assignments build to a final presentation about an organization you built with your team and how you implemented the various assignments from before, it sounds like a lot but it is fairly easy
What a sweet woman. I enjoyed every class with her and especially loved when she brought her daughter. Class could get a bit redundant sometimes but nothing worth complaining about. Easy A with minimal effort!! Loved her so much.
VERY easy A. Showed up to class twice. Lots of extra credit. Exams are open note and pretty self explanatory.
Professor Spikes's class is one of the easiest ones I have taken in college. Her lectures are engaging, and she provides all of the test information within the lectures. The class consists of two open-note exams, two open-note quizzes, and two written assignments, all fairly easy. She also gives 20 points of easy extra credit.
show up with a pulse and take notes and you'll get an A, all exams are open note and she gave 20 points of extra credit throughout the semester
I love her. She is very funny and energetic. She gave out many extra credit opportunities and her exams were online with open notes. Her notes are a bit lacking and doesn't record her lectures but overall I loved her class. Homework was pretty easy but hard to understand at times but if you do it right you get a 100.
Are you breathing? Do you have a pulse? Then you can get an A in this class. Spikes rambles quite a bit, but the material is there as long as you go to class and take good notes. And if you want another thousand points added to your grade, ask about Mattie Jo.
If you just takes notes you'll do good. Just go to class and pay attention.
Her class is so intriguing but always involves info that are not relevant to the class. Although there is no attendance, you'll need to be in class and take notes, or otherwise, you cannot get the correct answer from the slides. She gives a lot of extra credits, so this class should be an easy A course.
